Tuesday’s Cash with the Flash Best Bets focused on MLB and we finished 1-1. The Cincinnati Reds didn’t do what I thought they would do, and the Kansas City Royals did exactly what we thought they would.

Break-evendays are better than losing.

Baseball has been a nightmare this season. Our own MLB Moving Averages summed up the problem quite nicely yesterday at Twitter;

https://twitter.com/MLBMovingAvg/status/1168919185403129856?s=20

Betting dawgs is a hard way to profit from MLB wagers as they are underdogs for a reason. Vegas rarely makes mistakes and when they do we should pounce on them. Here are a few tips I’ve picked up along the way to try and utilize at Cash with the Flash Best Bets when choosing underdogs.

Betting Underdogs Against Top 40 Pitchers

That is a big no-no for me and especially against a toppitcher at home. When I mean top pitcher, I am talking about a pitcher with aWHIP of 1.15 or less. If I see these pitchers I usually run from the dawg.

Eliminate All Games of +170 or Greater

Okay, we’ve recently seen a couple of those games pay off,but they usually don’t. I try and leave those games alone for obvious reasons. In case it isn’t obvious? Vegas knows what they are doing and while they domake mistakes, they generally don’t make BIG mistakes.

Bullpens Matter

Especially so at this time of year. The best teams usuallyhave the best bullpens and it makes sense when playing a dawg to at least checkhow the bullpen is doing. MLB ranked thebest bullpens post MLB Trade Deadline and this has been a big help tome.

Don’t Play Underdogs on Losing Streaks

We usually leave underdogs of three or more game losing streaks alone. Especially when these dogs are playing on the road. Conversely, we don’t play underdogs against teams with three-game winning streaks or more and especially not a road dog against a home team playing lights out baseball.

Cash with the Flash Best Bets has one MLB underdog we’relooking at for Wednesday.

Minnesota Twins(+121) over Boston Red Sox (-131)7:10 pm ET

The Twins have won nine of their last 10 and are riding a three-game winning streak AND have Jose Berrios on the hill against a Boston Red Sox club with a losing record at home (34-35). Eduardo Rodriguez has pitched very well at home, compiling a 7-1 record and 3.53 ERA with a 4.53 xFIP at home this season. The Sox lefty also allows 1.03 bombs per nine innings pitched and that isn’t good against a Twins offense leading MLB in bombs off lefties (86) and bombs on the road (149).

Berrios has an above-average road WHIP (1.16) with a 3.52 ERAand 4.34 xFIP over 92 innings pitched away from Target Field this season. Ifthere were EVER an MLB dawg to bet, its Minnesota.

Your Cash with the Flash Best Bets is the Minnesota Twinsbeating the Boston Red Sox on Wednesday evening.

There is a couple of interesting tennis plays today at theU.S. Open Cash with the Flash Best Bets is looking at.

BelindaBencic (-190) over Donna Vekic(+155) 12:00 pm ET

Vekic has had a tremendous run at the Open and is coming off a great fourth-round win over Julia Goerges. Vekic was down a set and a break in her three-set win but that win had more to do with Goerges being unable to seal the deal than anything Vekic did. Bencic defeated defending champion and world number one in straight sets to set up this matchup. There is always the danger of a letdown after a big win, but Bencic has more wins over Top 10 players this season (10) than anyone else so that shouldn’t faze her one bit. Belinda Bencic is our Cash with the Flash Best Bets to defeat Donna Vekic on Wednesday.

MatteoBerrettini (+163) over Gael Monfils(-195) Not Before 1:30 pm ET

This one could go either way, but I think Berrettini is worth a look in this match. Neither player has had a difficult time here, and the draw along with the upsets has made their paths to the quarters much easier.

Berrettini has fired 51 aces at Flushing Meadows and while Monfils is one of the best returners in the game, that service is a HUGE advantage. and more deadly on a day where the forecast is for 95 percent humidity. That makes the court play like its 100 degrees and if you’ve never been on a hardcourt that hot, trust me when I tell you it sucks and the ball flies off the court. Monfils has a LONG history of getting in his own way during big matches and it’s hard to support him against Berrettini. Your Cash with the Flash Best Bets is Matteo Berrettini to defeat Gael Monfils on Wednesday afternoon.

Happy LaborDay!!

If you are reading Cash with the Flash best bets and celebrate Labor Day, then on this last “official” day of summer, I hope you have a terrific day. If you aren’t celebrating and are working like me, I have some wagers to hopefully make this a happy day for you financially.

Parlaysare no Bueno

I don’t likeparlays. That’s not to say I don’t play them, because I do. After 35 plus yearsof being around the betting business, I know parlays aren’t a profitable venturein the long run because they weren’t set up that way.

Parlays weredesigned to separate the squares from their money. Nothing more and nothingless.

A five-leg parlay is a 25-1 wager and you need quite a bit of luck for that to hit. Those aren’t insurmountable odds at all, but you must minimize the risk in order to reap the reward, and that isn’t always the easiest thing to do.

Had you of played mypick from Saturday, you would be up 10 units as we went 5-0 ATS and 0-1on the money line from a bad Northwestern beat. 10 units because each play wasa two-unit recommendation.

We had tolay far too much wood for us to play those picks on a parlay ticket. We werelucky that we did cover those five ATS plays but they weren’t good enough tominimize the risk for successful parlay tickets.

Maybe one ortwo of these picks would work but we had three plays spotting 18.5 points or moreand that would be too much wood for my taste. Of course, your mileage may vary.

Good BankrollManagement is Essential

I supposethe point of all that was to say the Saturday Best Bets weren’t designed to beplayed together in a parlay and I wish I would have mentioned that in thepiece.

Bankrollmanagement is the key to everything and if I am playing a parlay ticket, I’mnever going over one unit on any parlay ticket. Again, your mileage may vary.

Our Cash with the Flash best bets today should be played alone and if you feel so inclined, throw a couple of shekels into a parlay as these best bets aren’t as risky on Monday.

Julia Goerges(+110) over Donna Vecic(-135)

ThreeUnits

While all the focus has been on Serena Williams and Coco Gauff, Goerges and Vecic have quietly gone about their business and meet at 11:00 am a showdown at Louis Armstrong Stadium. Goerges is seventh at this event in Aces (16) and while Vecic has played great this tournament, she hasn’t faced anyone of the caliber of Goerges and hasn’t beaten the German in their three previous matches to date. Goerges has too much experience and can smell a nice payday with a win Monday. Julia Goerges is one of our Cash with the Flash best bets for Monday!

Alexander Zverev(-125) over DiegoSchwartzman (Even)

Two Units

We do seem to like the Germans today, don’t we? Well, this German is the sixth seed and has had a bumpy road to his fourth-round matchup with the feisty Argentinian Schwartzman. Zverev has played 14 sets of tennis over his first three rounds whereas Schwartzman has strolled through his section of the field with three consecutive three-set victories.

As good as Schwartzman has played, he hasn’t been pushed and Zverev has had his back to the wall numerous times this past week. Each time the young German came through. The fellas have a career record of 1-1 against each other and Zverev has won their only encounter on the hard courts. Cash with the Flash and play Alexander Zverev as one of our best bets for Monday.

NotreDame Fighting Irish (-18.5) over LouisvilleCardinals

ThreeUnits

That’s abunch of wood to lay on a Monday night NCAA football game but we’re going to doit anyway. Notre Dame returns 13 starters for a tackle football team that went 12-1and a Cotton Bowl loss to Clemson. Scott Satterfield takes over a Louisvilleteam returning 16 starters from a 2-10 team a season ago.

The Irish must be pissed about how last season ended and I’m sure they are going to be fired up and ready to go Monday night. Louisville has a new head coach, a new defensive coordinator and while this team might be better record-wise than 2018, they have a long way to go if they want to compete with the likes of the Fighting Irish or even be touted at Cash with the Flash best bets.

This should be a good test for the Irish against a decent Cardinals defense, but Notre Dame should cover the spread and then some. When I did the math, I came up with the Irish winning by 28 points. Cash with the Flash with Notre Dame covering the 18.5 points as one of your best bets for Monday!!

Cash with the Flash: U.S. Open Best Bets focus today is Day Six of the U.S. Open. We’ve done well here and if you are tailing this column, you would be 17-3 in your wagers at the United States Tennis Championships. And that’s what we’re after here at Win Daily Sports; we want you to always make your best bets and I have some opportunities to Cash with the Flash at the Open on Saturday.

John Isner(-106) ThirdMatch on Grandstand Courts

Isner is an American playing in his home tournament where his highest finish was a quarterfinal appearance in the 2018 event. Isner is a big server and he faces Croatian Marin Cilic. Cilic is also a big server and he won the 2014 U.S. Open. Both players have had a relatively easy time entering this matchup and Cilic owns an 8-3 lifetime record over Isner with the American winning three of their past five matches. Big serving is what these two fellas do and Isner is currently better at it than Cilic is. Isner should have the home crowd behind him and the smaller venue is only going to help him. John Isner is one of your best bets for Saturday.

SoranaCirstea (+165)  12:00pm Louis Armstrong Stadium

American Taylor Townsend has reached the third round of her home tournament for the first time in her career. Sorana Cirstea is also making her first appearance in the third round of this event. Townsend has had to fight with both her matches going the three-set distance including a second-round upset over #4 seed Simona Halep. Cirstea is coming off a three-set win over Aliona Bolsova and has played five sets in her two victories. There’s a danger with Townsend coming off arguably the biggest win of her career, that she could suffer a letdown and I that is exactly what I see happening here against a much more experienced player on Saturday. Make Cash with the Flash and place a wager on Sorana Cirstea beating Taylor Townsend one of your best bets on Saturday.

Cori “Coco”Gauff (+244)7:00 pm Arthur Ashe Stadium

15-year old American Cori “Coco” Gauff has had come from behind wins in her last two matches and enters a Third-Round showdown with World Number One and defending U.S Open Champion Naomi Osaka on Saturday night at Arthur Ashe Stadium. After a first-round hiccup, Osaka has breezed through her draw. The two have never played each other officially, but practice together regularly.

While most teenagers would be overwhelmed by the occasion of playing the World Number One on Stadium Court in a Major, I don’t see this happening to Gauff. Osaka tends to shrink under pressure and has spoken about that often. It won’t be easy, but I see Coco defeating Naomi on Saturday night. It’s worth a couple of shekels to me to find out if I’m right and I’m making Gauff one of my Cash with the Flash best bets for Saturday!!

BelindaBencic(-111)  SecondNight Match Louis Armstrong Stadium

Bencic had a slight hiccup in her second-round match with Alize Cornet but otherwise has breezed through this event. Anett Kontaveit had her hiccup in the second round in an otherwise dominant showing thus far at this event. Bencic is a terrific returner and that will come in handy against the big-serving Estonian who hit 11 aces in her second-round match against Australian Ajla Tomljanovic. The two haven’t faced one another in their careers but you must like how Bencic handled the pressure after losing her first set to Cornet. Cash with the Flash and make Bencic one of your best bets for Saturday night.

Today’s Cash with the Flash Best Bets column is all about the U.S. Open. We are 15-2 over the first four days of this spectacular event and I’m looking forward to the matches on Friday and beyond. Making smart wagers is important as we go forward in this tournament and we’re looking for quality over quantity. Here are your best bets for Friday, August 30, 2019.

Kei Nishikori(-208)  11:00am Grandstand Court

Nishikori is the seventh-ranked player on the ATP Tour, and he has a third-round showdown with Australian Alex de Minuar. This will be the first meeting between the two and both have taken interesting paths to reach round three. Nishikori had to fend off American Bradley Kahn in four sets and de Minuar defeated Frenchman Pierre -Hugues Herbert in straight sets. Nishikori is a two-time semi-finalist in this event and de Minuar is going to push the Japanese National a bit, but his experience alone should see him through to round four. Make a smart wager and play Nishikori on Friday.

ElinaSvitolina (-179)7:00pm ET Louis Armstrong Stadium

“Satchmo’s House” is in for a real treat on Friday night when Ukrainian Elina Svitolina faces countrywoman Dayana Yastremska for a place in the fourth round of the United States Tennis Championships. Svitolina has fared well at Flushing Meadows and reached the fourth round in her last two appearances and defeated Venus Williams in straight sets to set up this showdown. This is Yastremska’s best showing to date in her two Open appearances and she’s coming off an impressive straight-set win over Sweden’s Rebecca Peterson. The two haven’t played each other officially but are from the same village in Ukraine and we must go with the more experience Svitolina in this one Friday evening. This is a solid Cash with the Flash best bets if ever there were one!

PetraMartic (+116) Court10, not before 12:30 pm ET

Martic has played well in this event and has a tough matchup with #12 seed Anastasija Sevastova. Sevastova has had great results over her last three Opens with successive quarter-finals appearances and reached the semi-finals in 2018. The two have met twice before on clay and have split their two previous meetings. I like Martic as one of our best bets in this match; she seems to be playing more consistently and has had two strong victories at this event. She’s also had the better season of the two. Sevastova might be the higher-ranked and more accomplished player, but Martic is going to push her to the limit and should come out the victor in what should be a hard-fought match.  Martic is absolutely one of our best bets for Friday.

The rain fell hard enough Wednesday to cancel practically every match on the Wednesday schedule of play. That’s a bummer for the players but it gives the books, and us, more time to place wagers on matches we might have been late getting a play on. Here are my best bets for Thursday at the U.S. Open.

The order of play for Wednesday’s canceled matches hasn’t been provided to us yet. Play begins on Thursday at 11 am ET so be sure to check with the U.S. Open site early Thursday morning for an exact time as the United States Tennis Association can provide.

PetraMartic (-233)

Martic advanced to the second round with a solid, three-set victory over Slovenian Tamara Zidanek and now faces Ana Bogdan of Romania. Bogdan defeated Britain’s Harriet Dart in straight sets to force this second-round showdown with the 29-year old Croatian. Martic holds a decisive 3-0 head to head record with two of her three victories on the hard courts. Martic is the #22 seed and ranked 140 spots higher than her counterpart and shouldn’t have any problems winning this match and getting you the DFS Tennis return. Martic beating Bogdan is a great play for Thursday.

AnastasijaSevastova (-109)

The 11th ranked Sevastova is taking on 49th ranked Iga Swiatek of Poland on Thursday and this should be high-quality tennis. After a lackluster summer hard court season, Sevastova looked impressive Monday against Canadian Eugenie Bouchard, beating her in straight sets. Sevastova has a career record of 15-6 at Flushing Meadows and reached the semi-finals of this event in 2018. Swiatek buried Serbian Ivana Jorovic 6-0, 6-1 and is playing her first U.S. Open. Look for the nerves to get to Swiatek and she goes down in straight sets on Thursday. Sevastova winning this match is one of my best bets for Thursday.

CarolineWozniacki (-156)

We do know this match will be played at 7:00 pm ET at Louis Armstrong Stadium and we also know that the stadium has a roof and will be played. Wozniacki is a former two-time finalist at this tournament and former World Number One who has had spotty results this summer but won a three-setter round one match over China’s Yafan Wang. 25-year old American Danielle Collins also shared the same summer results as Wozniacki and defeated Polona Hercog in three tough sets to set up this second-round showdown with Wozniacki. The Danish former number one should be able to counter-punch her way into the third round against the 2019 Australian Open semi-finalist with the 0-3 record at Flushing Meadows and is a good bet for Thursday at the Open!

Sign up NOW for WIN DAILY Premium Gold righthere! Projections, wagering info, 24/7 expert chats and more!

John Isner (-143)

This is another of my best bets for Thursday. Isner holds a 3-0 lifetime record over Jan-Lennard Struff and each of those wins were on a hardcourt including a straight-set victory in the second round of this event back in 2014. Isner had a 3-4 summer hardcourt season and kicked off his 2019 U.S. Open with a straight-set win over Spaniard Guillermo Garcia-Lopez. Struff has a .500 record during the summer hardcourt season and defeated Norway’s Caspar Ruud in straight sets to set up this second-round encounter with the 14th seeded American. Isner rained down 29 aces with just one double fault against Garcia-Lopez and I expect the same result in a pro-American environment Thursday.

Cori“Coco” Gauff (-149)

Gauff is a 15-year old American who has racked up an impressive 21-12 record this season and reached the Round of 16 at Wimbledon. Due to her age, she isn’t allowed to play a full WTA schedule which makes her record all that more remarkable. Gauff came back from one-set down to defeat 18-year old Russian Anastasia Potapova in three sets and her composure was impressive. She faces Hungarian Timea Babos on Thursday and she’ll be up against a Hungarian who won the first set of her first-round match before her opponent was forced to retire due to injury. Coco will have the crowd on her side on Thursday and Gauff is another of my best bets for Thursday.

We’re at Day Three of the United States Tennis Championships and we’ve had some success over the first two days of this event. Winning seven wagers of our last nine including two underdogs yesterday with Tennys Sandren and Alize Cornet and Monday we went 3-0. I’m feeling confident about today’s slate and have Three Plays to consider for Wednesday at the U.S. Open.

Elina Svitolina (-189) 1:00 pm ET

You’d better get this bet in quickly because the match begins at 1:00 pm ET. Venus Williams is one of my all-time favorite people and she’s going to have her hands full against Svitolina Wednesday. Williams knocked off China’s Saisai Zheng in straight sets to reach the opportunity to play the current #5 Svitolina. The 24-year old Ukrainian defeated up and coming American Whitney Osuigwe in straight sets on Monday. Svitolina is 12-3 this season at the Slams and has a 2-1 career record over Williams with their latest a straight-set victory at Roland Garros. The daytime crowd at Louis Armstrong Stadium will clearly support Williams, Svitolina should get this one over with quickly on Wednesday afternoon.

Petra Martic (-208) 1:00 pm ET

Martic advanced to the second round with a solid, three-set victory over Slovenian Tamara Zidanek and now faces Ana Bogdan of Romania. Bogdan defeated Britain’s Harriet Dart in straight sets to force this second-round showdown with the 29-year old Croatian. Martic holds a decisive 3-0 head to head record with two of her three victories on the hard courts. Martic is the #22 seed and ranked 140 spots higher than her counterpart and shouldn’t have any problems winning this match Wednesday afternoon. Martic is my pick for this matchup!

Anastasija Sevastova (-101)   2:30 pm ET

Pick three of my three plays for today has the eleventh ranked Sevastova taking on 49th ranked Iga Swiatek of Poland in the third match this afternoon on Court 13. Open. Look for the nerves to get to Swiatek and she goes down in straight sets on Wednesday. Sevastova is my pick for this one.

Day Three of the United States Tennis Championships begins at 11:00 am ET and we are looking to make a dent over at FanDuel and DraftKings on their main DFS Tennis slate.

I’ll leave the money line totals for you to consider and I fully expect each of the following four picks to win their matches Wednesday on Day Three of the U.S. Open.

Below are my top four DFS Tennis plays for FanDuel and DraftKings for Wednesday, August 28, 2019.

SerenaWilliams (-2500)

FanDuel:$23

DraftKings:$10,700

There’s probably not a way in the world you’re going to want to risk that much juice and I fully expect Serena Williams to give 17-year-old American Catherine McNally a pretty good beating under the lights on Wednesday night in Arthur Ashe Stadium. I’m even willing to pay the steep $23-dollar DFS Tennis FanDuel price tag to see her do just that. Williams is the overwhelming favorite to capture a record 24th Grand Slam title and opened her run with an impressive, 6-1, 6-1 victory over nemesis and former World number one Maria Sharapova. McNally was awarded a Wild Card into this event and won her first career Grand Slam singles match with an impressive 6-4, 6-1 win over Timea Bacsinszky of Switzerland.

PetraMartic (-208)

FanDuel:$18

DraftKings:$8,600

Martic advanced to the second round with a solid, three-set victory over Slovenian Tamara Zidanek and now faces Ana Bogdan of Romania. Bogdan defeated Britain’s Harriet Dart in straight sets to force this second-round showdown with the 29-year old Croatian. Martic holds a decisive 3-0 head to head record with two of her three victories on the hard courts. Martic is the #22 seed and ranked 140 spots higher than her counterpart and shouldn’t have any problems winning this match and getting you the DFS Tennis return. The two play the second scheduled match on Court 17 Wednesday.

ElinaSvitolina (-169)

FanDuel: $16

DraftKings:$8,400

Venus Williams is one of my all-time favorite people and she’s going to have her hands full against Svitolina Wednesday. Williams knocked off China’s Saisai Zheng in straight sets to reach the opportunity to play the current #5 Svitolina. The 24-year old Ukrainian defeated up and coming American Whitney Osuigwe in straight sets on Monday. Svitolina is 12-3 this season at the Slams and has a 2-1 career record over Williams with their latest a straight-set victory at Roland Garros. The daytime crowd at Louis Armstrong Stadium will clearly support Williams, Svitolina should get this one overwith quickly in Wednesday DFS Tennis.

FionaFerro (+126)

FanDuel:$14

DraftKings:$6600

Ferro is coming off an impressive straight-set win over Australian Daria Gavrilova and if she can continue playing this way, the sky is the limit for the 22-year-old Belgian. Her opponent, Kristina Mladenovic of France, is coming off an equally impressive win over Three-Time Grand Slam winner Angelique Kerber and I expect some DFS Tennis fireworks when the play opens Wednesday at 11 am ET on Court Five. Ferro has won eight of her last 10 hardcourt matches while her opponent is 2-3 this summer with the two opening up Court 11 Wednesday morning at 11 am ET.

We have a full slate of 45 matches on the main Tennis slate at FanDuel and DraftKings for Tuesday.. The pricing at FanDuel makes it interesting to build a winning lineup and some of the players available at FanDuel aren’t on the main slate at DraftKings. I’ve also left a pick for each match in case you want to make a wager. In some cases, the juice will be high, but I expect these players to win and if you have a solid bankroll, you can still make a profit.

You wantthese players on your roster

NickKyrgios

FanDuel: $19

Pick:Kyrgios -303

$19 bucks isa lot to risk for a player who can beat himself just as easily as he beats hisopponents. Make no mistake; Kyrgios knows how to win tennis matches and onTuesday he has a very good opportunity against American Steve Johnson. Kyrgiosis 7-2 this summer on the American hardcourts while Johnson has been playingchallengers and his record this summer is 9-2. Johnson did win their onlyprevious meeting back in 2017 at the Shanghai Masters but that was a LONG timeago and Johnson isn’t the same player now as he was then.

StefanosTsitsipas

FanDuel $19

DraftKings $8,800

Pick: Tsitsipas-201

Here’sanother $19 play that should reward those who roster Tsitsipas on Tuesdayagainst Andrey Rublov. Tsitsipas should dust the court with the young Russianbut they’ve played twice in their brief careers and each won a match. So, there’sthat to consider but Tsitsipas has a big game and a top 10 ranking that theyoung Russian doesn’t have. Tsitsipas was 3-3 on the summer hardcourts while hiscontemporary Rublov went 8-4 on the concrete this summer.  These two might be the same age but aren’t atthe same level and I look for Tsitsipas to win in straight sets on Tuesday.

Sign up NOW for WIN DAILY Premium Gold right here! Projections, wagering info, 24/7 expert chats and more!

FrancisTiafoe

FanDuel: $19

Pick:Tiafoe -345

More $19-dollar plays, and this might be the last time we see a price this low for Tiafoe in Daily Fantasy Tennis after he beats up on Ivo Karlovic Tuesday. Tiafoe is the talk of the American Tennis town but has struggled to find his form but should get plenty of help from the home crowd on Tuesday. Karlovic is a big serving 40-year-old and will look to serve the young American off the court. I don’t see that happening very often to the ATP #61 ranked serve returner on Tuesday and I have Tiafoe winning in four sets.

GarbineMuguruza

FanDuel: $16

DraftKings: $7,700

Pick: Muguruza-147

Muguruza hasplayed only a couple of matches this summer and she’s up against a youngAmerican Alison Riske who has compiled a 3-2 record on the hardcourts this summer.Muguruza’s lack of play stems from her dealing with a leg injury and that haskept her from properly preparing for this tournament. Muguruza holds a 2-1career advantage with the two splitting their two hardcourt matches. Muguruza is16-11 this season on the hardcourts and should get win number 17 in three setson Tuesday.

AlizeCornet

FanDuel: $15

DraftKings: $7,200

Pick:Cornet +146

This is going to be a bit dicey, but if we want to remain with as many mid-tier players that we can roster, we need to find some value and I think Cornet does that just fine on Tuesday against American Jessica Pegula. Pegula has had a terrific hardcourt season where she went 14-6 including winning a tournament in Washington and she’ll be playing in her first main draw at the Open. Cornet is 9-8 on the hardcourts in 2019 and is 12-12 lifetime at the U.S. Open. That experience is going to matter, and Cornet wants to finish her 2019 season on a high note and hopefully, she’ll be able to do this against the young American Tuesday.

TennysSandren

FanDuel: $12

Pick:Sandren +204

This is another play allowing us to use four players at $19 bucks and even if he doesn’t win, shouldn’t lay a complete egg against Jo-Wilfried Tsonga. Tsonga is heavily favored and is 7-5 on the hardcourts this season and has a U.S. Open record of 24-9 over his lengthy career. Sandren is a gritty American who will have the crowd behind him and a 9-11 record on the Deco-Turf this season. Sandren won Auckland earlier this year and has a 1-2 lifetime record at the Billie Jean King National Tennis Center. This one is probably going five sets and hopefully, the home crowd can carry the American through to a victory Tuesday.

The United States Open Tennis Championships begin Monday morning at 11:00 am ET. I am thrilled to be able to discuss this tournament with you!! This is my all-time favorite of the four major Events and usually one of the most exciting tennis tournaments in the world.

Tennis is a great sport to wager on. The early rounds are where the savvy tennis investor looks to capitalize and hopefully you will have a profitable and positive experience.

I’m of the “less is more” variety and here are three plays I think you can take to the counter with confidence on Monday, August 26, 2019.

Reilly Opelka (-134) vs Fabio Fognini (+108) 11 am ET Court 17

PICK: Four Units on Opelka -134

Normally we would be all over this one and 100 percent behind Fognini but what hasn’t been talked about much is Fognini hurting his ankle in Montreal and he hasn’t played since. Prior to that, the world number 11 had won six of his last 10 matches with five of those wins coming on the North America hardcourt circuit.

Opelka, at 6’11, is the tallest player on the tour and has banged down 1,085 aces with one ATP title to his credit in 2019. The young American has won six of his last 10 matches including a second-round upset of former world number three Stan Wawrinka at Wimbledon this summer. Opelka clearly isn’t shy on the big occasions and will be especially pumped at his home major.

Picking Opelka To Win

I don’t see Fognini trying to do too much in his first match back after his ankle turn in Montreal. The 32-year-old Italian made it to the second round in last year’s event and is 9-11 over his career at the U.S. Open. Opelka has a huge serve and we should expect plenty of aces from both these fellas but I see Opelka getting through to the second round on Monday.

Pablo Carreno-Busta (-135) vs Guido Pella (+102) 11 am 4th Match Court Six

Pick: Busta Four Unit Play -135

This could be a dynamite match between two young fellas in their late twenties who know how to grind and more importantly, know how to win tennis matches on the Deco-Turf. They’ve also played each other twice over their career with each winning one match in their two hard court meetings.

Pella has had an exceptional season, winning one ATP Title in Sau Paulo on the dirt and an overall record of 32-19 and 5-3 this season at the Slams. Pella reached the third round of this event in 2018 and has a 4-6 lifetime record at the Open. Pella has four wins over his career against top ten players and has a 5-3 record during the summer hardcourt season.

Picking Busta to Win

Busta is a tough cookie who knows how to win on all surfaces with a 5-3 record during the summer hardcourt grind. The Spaniard is 13-14 this season and would like nothing better than to have a nice run here in New York with the hopes of finishing his season in the top 20. The 28-year-old is an old school grinder with a big serve and 1.179 aces to his credit this season. Busta was a runner-up in doubles in 2018 and has a career U.S. Open record of 11-5.  Busta will grind Pella into the Deco-Turf on what should be a four-set win on Monday.

SerenaWilliams(-294) vs MariaSharapova (+220)

Pick: Williams Five Units -294

Normally the juice on this would drive me away but it isn’t very often we get this kind of a price for a first-round Grand Slam matchup involving Serena Williams. We fans get to turn back the clock and watch two future Hall of Famers and bitter rivals with bad blood from the past square off in what should be a night match at Ashe on Monday night.

When I say bitter, I’m referring to Sharapova and her 3-19 lifetime record against Williams and one of those wins was a walkover at Roland Garros in 2018. Sharapova hasn’t been the same player since returning from what turned out to be a 15-month absence for testing positive for performance-enhancing drugs. Sharapova won this event back in 2006 and has a 38-19 record at Flushing Meadows and this season is 8-6.

Williams is a six-time champion and was runner-up to Japans Naomi Osaka in a controversial and hotly contested match. Serena has amassed a 95-12 record at the Open and is arguably one of the greatest to ever play the great sport of tennis. She’s 14 months removed from having her first child and still managed a record of 19-5 this season and 820-141 over her illustrious career.

Williams Should Easily Win This Match

Depending on her level of fitness, Williams should destroy Sharapova under the lights at Ashe and this match shouldn’t be close. If it does go three sets, there is no way in the world Williams should lose this match;  she is the superior player playing in her home event and that matters in a match like this.
