We are here ladies and gentlemen! Week 3 is upon us and we have loads of content coming out over the next few days to help you take down your GPP’s and cash in your 50/50’s and Double-Ups. Cash:

Derrick Henry, Titans, ($8,600DK/$9,700FD):

I may have to include Henry with CMC as a weekly play in my Running Back DFS breakdown if he goes off again this week. For those who missed the boat on Stix telling everyone to get on the King Henry train last week, you have my sincerest condolences. You will not get him at 5% ownership at any point again this season. He is currently projected as one of the highest-owned running backs this week and will likely remain as such for the rest of the year. With the problems that the Colts are likely to have on the offensive side of the ball this week with a banged-up QB and offensive line, the game script has little chance of going in a direction that keeps Henry off the field. We are looking at another 25 carries and plenty of touchdown equity Sunday.

Chris Carson, Seahawks, ($6,400DK/$7,700FD):

Back to the well again as Carson has another juicy matchup that will likely result in a score that is reasonable for cash game play. His yards per carry, touches, and receiving number were down/non-existent from week one to week two but Carson managed to sneak into the end zone twice. As far as matchups go, you couldn’t ask for more. The Vikings defense is weak across the board and the 55.5 point game total is the best on the slate. I expect plenty of people to target the passing game but Carson will get his usual 12-15 carries, 3-5 targets, and be in a good position for scoring opportunities again.

Saquon Barkley, Giants, ($6,500DK/$6,000FD):

The verdict is still out on this one but I think that week three is going to be the week that everyone decides to roster Saquon. While his production was underwhelming, his snap share went from 48% to 84% between week one and week two, he gets several extra days of rest playing last Thursday, and the Washington Football Team has held both the Chargers and Giants running backs to under 100 yards in the first two weeks. While the Falcons did reasonably well against the Bucs there are two differences. First, Saquon is infinitely more talented than Ronald Jones or Leonard Fournette. Second, and more importantly, if you listened to our conversation about Dean Pees’s Falcons defense in week one, you know that it involves a ton of secondary blitzes, and how that can be attacked by mobile quarterbacks. Once a running QB burns Pees, he will account for it, leaving the second level wide open for a running back to break free. Barkley is too big for a safety, too fast for a linebacker. This is going to be fun. But sadly I do not think we can get him at low ownership. I hope I’m wrong.

Also Consider: Dalvin Cook (or Mattison if Cook is out), Ty’Son Williams, Austin Ekeler

GPP:

Joe Mixon, Bengals, ($6,300DK/$6,700FD):

When it comes to running backs, especially in the modern era of football where shared backfields are the norm, volume is key, and nobody outside of Derrick Henry has more touches than the 49 of Joe Mixon through two weeks. While the Steelers defense is solid as ever Defensive end Carlos Davis and Linebacker Alex Highsmith have both missed practice this week and TJ Watt has been limited with a groin issue, giving us a sneaky opportunity for Mixon to break off some chunk plays at what is looking like depressed ownership. We saw last week against the Bears that Cincy is going to lean on the running game regardless of the game script or defensive strength. And with Big Ben and Dionte Hightower injured to go along with that horrid offensive front of the Steelers the Bengals should not find themselves in a position where they will need to completely abandon the run.

D’Andre Swift, Lions, ($5,800DK/$7,400FD):

At first, glance when you look at the Raven’s defense it looks pretty clear that the one strength they may have is slowing the run and the way to attack them is with the tight ends up the seams. While it is true that tight end coverage has been a huge issue, the underlying reason for it is also the reason that I want to roster Swift in GPP’s. The linebackers are failing terribly in pass coverage responsibilities. Malik Harrison and Patrick Queen have looked especially bad, seemingly forgetting their responsibilities multiple times a drive and leaving huge holes for running backs, full back, and tight ends to attack for huge gains. Swift is not giving us much in terms of rushing volume but his volume in the passing games gives him enormous upside this week in a game total of over 50. As always with him before rostering, check out his practice participation since he is still dealing with a groin issue.

Javonte Williams, Broncos, ($4,900DK/$5,800FD):

My final Running Back DFS play is none other than Javonte Williams. Yes, he ended up burning us last week but I am going right back to the well this week. The game total is pathetic against the Jets at 41 points but the implied total for the Broncos is 25.5 and Denver is a huge favorite. Two things stood out last week. First, Williams was close on three separate occasions to breaking loose for huge plays including two that could have been touchdowns. Second, and most importantly for this game 9 of Williams’s 13 carries last week and 21 of his 27 carries overall have come when the Broncos are tied or ahead. The Broncos should get a few extra short-field opportunities and if you have not seen this guy run yet, please go look. He looks incredible and will be taking over the lion’s share of the opportunities from Melvin Gordon sooner rather than later.

Also Consider: Chase Edmonds, Nick Chubb, Jonathan Taylor

I am going to put this at the top of my articles until the status quo changes. If you want to play Christian McCaffrey and can afford him, go for it. His floor/ceiling combination is unmatched from week to week. This just saves me a few minutes for every Running Back DFS Breakdown just stating the obvious.

I will add ownership percentages to the article later in the week. Those numbers do not really paint a clear picture until Friday. Plays may adjust due to those numbers so be sure to check back. I’ll update accordingly.

GPP:

Nick Chubb, Browns, ($7,800DK/$8,400FD) 7% OWN:

I thought that Chubb was going to be the big chalk this week in cash games due to talent and matchup. But everything points to 6-8% of rosters having him so I LOVE him for GPP.

Urban Meyer looked lost in his head coaching debut. Choosing to throw the ball 51 times against the worst running defense in the league even though Carlos Hyde averaged 4.9 YPC and James Robinson averaged 5.0. The Browns will not make that same mistake and as far as pure running backs go there is arguably no one better than Chubb. I know that some have a concern with Hunt taking targets and touches but there is no reason to be. He is going to go ham on the Texans this week.

David Montgomery, Bears, ($6,100DK/$7,300):

I am thinking this one ends up in the cash category but I’m waiting on ownership info to come out before moving. After watching the replay of the Bears/Rams I can find no smart reason for why Nagy was taking Monty off of the field for Damien Williams. Why take a guy who is ripping off 8+ yard carries the entire game for anything other than needing a breather for a play? Why has Williams randomly starting drives? Why in God’s name are you running end arounds with Marquis Goodwin? Why do you not utilize play action when you have David Montgomery running the ball? Make no mistake, Nagy’s job is on the line in the coming weeks and if he continues to make these mistakes he will no longer be a part of the Bears organization, and year in and year out Cincy’s defenses allows over 5 yards per carry so doing anything besides handing Monty the ball 25 times right up the middle will tell you all you need to know about his future. Montgomery has been nothing short of a revelation over the last eight games and he somehow looks faster, stronger, and has better vision than at any point in his career.

Damien Harris, Patriots, ($5,400DK/$6,200FD) 7% OWN:

I know he coughed up a fumble but I do not see Bill benching their best running back for a single indiscretion and the coaching staff has already voiced their confidence in his ability to “step up” . No better place to step up than an opportunity against a Jets defense that has been bottom five in every measurable category for almost a decade. He lacks receiving upside but has that ever stopped us from playing guys like Derrick Henry or Nick Chubb? If he gets 20-25 carries it will largely come out even in the end. 160 yards rushing is just as good as 100 yards rushing and 3 grabs for 30 yards.

Also Consider: Derrick Henry, Miles Sanders

Cash:

Chris Carson, Seahawks, ($6,100DK/ $6,700FD) 18% OWN:

I’m thinking that some of you have noticed something about several of my plays this week. When it comes to GPP’s this week something that I am planning to do is target these high total games. While people flock to the receivers and tight ends I am completely comfortable taking a back like Carson due to his ability to catch out of the backfield. The Titan’s defense struggled to stop every facet of the Cardinals offense in week one and the Seahawks are arguably better in every facet. When I first saw that Seattle kept five running backs on the roster going into the first week I was a little worried but those concerns were completely unwarranted as Carson carried the ball 16 times for 93 yards, caught all three of his targets for 26 yards, and accounted for 78% of the running back snaps. While everyone is (justifiably) stacking the receivers, take a lineup or two and replace your second receiver with Carson and reap the benefit.

Ezekiel Elliott, Cowboys, ($6,200/$7,500) 18% OWN

The ownership has heavily skewed towards Zeke as chalk, so while he is no longer a GPP play everything that I saw last week still remains, only now I can recommend as cash only.

One thing stood out to me when I gave the game another watch. Only four running plays of the 77 offensive snaps were designed to take place inside the numbers. Even though Zeke is trimmed down a bit, Pollard is better suited to that style, so it made it appear that Pollard was the guy even though Elliot played 84% of the snaps compared to 24% for Tony. The Bucs were thin defensively in the secondary and the Cowboys were (successfully) beating them out there all night. At the same time, Zeke was tasked with protecting Dak with no Zack Martin on the O-Line and he did a phenomenal job as the Cowboys only allowed ONE sack. Sunday, Martin will be back in action so that need will not be there. The Chargers may have some pieces on defense, but nowhere near the caliber of Tampa, especially up front. Even with Fitzpatrick’s hip injury, Gibson was still producing and ripping off chunk plays with interior runs. While everyone is ready to write Elliott off I am going to lean into him having a huge game. I just think the echo chamber surrounding him has reached an extreme and we get 2019 Zeke in week two.

Austin Ekeler, Chargers, ($7,300DK/$7,000FD)

My final selection for my running back DFS breakdown in none other than Austin Ekeler. It was a little strange seeing him get zero targets in week one but I am willing to chalk that up to a tough Washington defense, the fact that the Chargers did not get him in reps in the preseason, and a leg injury that they wanted to be cautious with. With a 55 point total and a soft Dallas defense, this is shaping up to be a smash spot for Austin. The best part about it is that if you are going to stack this game you are not sacrificing upside due to what should be a heavy utilization in the passing game. Even without a single target in week one he got 15 touches and scored a touchdown giving me a ton of optimism about his upside on Sunday.

Also Consider: Alvin Kamara, Joe Mixon, Najee Harris

Week 15 NFL DFS Thursday Night Showdown: Chargers at Raiders

The NFL DFS season continues with this week’s Thursday night showdown, and we’re helping you win big money in the first Week 15 NFL DFS contests!

Week 15 NFL DFS MVP candidates (1.5x points)

We should have a fun matchup in NFL DFS for Week 15 here on Thursday Night Football!

Chalk: Justin Herbert (DK $17,700, FD $16,000)

Pivot: Darren Waller (DK $14,100, FD $12,000)

Contrarian #1: Derek Carr (DK $15,000, FD $15,000)

Contrarian #2: Austin Ekeler (DK $15,600, FD $13,500)

FD/DK Value: Josh Jacobs (DK $8,800 FLEX, FD $13,000)

DK Punts: Hunter Henry ($5,800 FLEX) and Kalen Ballage ($2,400 FLEX if Ekeler OUT)

We’ve got myriad skill position injuries to monitor ahead of tonight’s showdown, but thankfully neither QB carries an injury designation. Despite the Chargers being 3-point road dogs, Justin Herbert is the chalk at CPT and should be in most of the roster builds that get clicked in before lock. While we could argue there’s some reason to consider fading the gunslinger rookie (three consecutive games under 20 DK points), I’m much less excited about the prospect of rolling out Derek Carr in the top spot. Carr is coming off his two best fantasy performances of 2020, but I have some trust issues after his putrid performance in Week 12 @ATL.

Both Keenan Allen and Mike Williams are game-time decisions, and if they sit, I’ll definitely be pivoting more to Carr and TE Darren Waller as the core of my builds, mixing in shares of whomever gets the start at RB for the Chargers, be that Austin Ekeler (questionable but expected to play with a quad injury) or Kalen Ballage. Right now, it looks like Ekeler should be good to go, but Ballage would be an obscenely good value if he gets back the workhorse role he had in the weeks before Ekeler returned.

Chargers pass catchers to consider (if either or both of Allen and Williams are inactive) include TE Hunter Henry (a solid play in any event) WR Tyron Johnson – who finished Week 14 with 6-55-1 on seven targets from Herbert – and even Jalen Guyton, a downfield target who’s had 40 targets and a 21-377-3 receiving line this season. He’s a “final piece” type of plug in who could exploit the Raiders secondary issues.

We could also see more offensive snaps and a handful or targets for rookie K.J. Hill, who fellow former Ohio St. Buckeye Cris Carter said was a steal in the 2020 NFL draft.

The Raiders have placed Henry Ruggs III on the COVID-19 reserve list, so he’s unavailable for this showdown. That gives Nelson Agholor a slight bump and greatly increases the chances of a big game for Hunter Renfrow. Rookie WR Bryan Edwards, not targeted in Sunday’s loss to Indy and without a catch in the Jets game, might also be a factor. He and Zay Jones are fringe plays at best.

As for kickers and defenses, I trust Raiders K Dylan Carlson a lot more than Chargers K Michael Badgley, who hasn’t scored in the past two weeks. Carlson is even cheaper on DK. With three negative DK point performances in their last three games, the Raiders DST are more expensive and have a lot less to offer from a gamebreaking perspective than the Chargers DST. But if the Bolts are without their top two WRs, they have to be considered in the occasional GPP.

Injury Update: As of 1 p.m. EST, Ekeler is expected to play, Williams is doubtful, and Allen remains a true GTD.

Week 15 NFL DFS Utility options (and some DOs and DON’Ts)

Remember to build your team based on a narrative that makes sense, and utilize the WinDaily fantasy toolbox for cheatsheets and projections that can help you tremendously with lineup building.

DO: Build a trio (or quartet) of offensive weapons for a team that makes sense together.

DON’T: Go into your GPP builds without a narrative plan this week. Use the writeup and flex list below to help narrow your player pool and find a winning path.

DO: Include Darren Waller somewhere. He’s the most involved player for both teams and is on the field for almost every Raiders offensive snap.

DON’T: Ignore the Chargers inactives – it’s going to have a huge effect on Herbert’s effectiveness and the players who impact this showdown.

Week 5 NFL DFS Monday Night Showdown Preview: Chargers at Saints

The NFL DFS season continues with Chargers-Saints on MNF, and we’ve got the breakdown to help you win big money in the final Week 5 NFL DFS contests!

Introduction to Single-Game Showdowns

DraftKings calls them “Showdowns,” and FanDuel doesn’t really have a name for them other than “Single-Game Contests,” but whatever we call them they require an understanding of game narratives and game theory – which means we need to target low-ownership players that will give us the best opportunities within the narratives and game outcomes we’re expecting.

My picks will focus almost exclusively on finding GPP-winning combinations that have a chance at taking down the contests you’re entering, be they single-entry or MME. While we can’t cover all the possible combos or provide full lineups for you to deploy, the goal here is to give you the tools to win and highlight some names that will help make for profitable results.

If I enter five lineups in a large-field GPP, at least three of those lineups will focus on the most likely game outcome (based on Vegas odds, props and totals), with one or two contrarian builds. As we know, late-breaking news can have a significant effect on full slates, and that’s just amplified with single-game contests. If you have any questions leading up to lock, please consult our NFL DFS experts in Discord.

Let’s get to the game!

Week 5 NFL DFS MVP candidates (1.5x points)

Some notes on the differences between MVP on FanDuel and DraftKings: The 1.5x point boost on FD comes with no salary penalty, while and DK also bumps the salary to 1.5x – a crucial factor in deciding who we can and cannot afford on both sites. We can use this to our advantage on FD by occasionally targeting non-QBs to establish more variance and more unique lineups, and on DK it allows us to build more hearty overall stacks when we punt the MVP position with a cheap but high-upside player.

Chalk: Alvin Kamara (DK $18,000, FD $16,000)

Pivot: Drew Brees (DK $15,600, FD $14,500)

Contrarian #1: Justin Herbert (DK $15,300, FD $14,000)

Contrarian #2: Latavius Murray (DK $7,200, FD $8,000)

Some notable injuries: The story of this game will likely be told by who is available on defense for the Saints, who are one of the best defenses in the league when healthy. The injury-riddled Saints have already ruled out CB Janoris Jenkins (shoulder) and CB Justin Hardee (hamstring), and both DE Marcus Davenport (toe), and playmaking CB Marshon Lattimore (hamstring) turned in limited practices leading up to this game. DT Sheldon Rankins made an appearance on the injury report and didn’t practice on Saturday because of a thumb injury, and he’s also listed as questionable.

The Saints offensive line has some injuries too (G Andrus Peat and T Ryan Ramczyk), which could affect their RB usage in attacking the Chargers run defense. If Ramczyk plays they might pound the right side more since Joey Bosa (triceps) didn’t look great in Week 4.

On the Chargers side, we have rookie RB Joshua Kelley and the recently activated Justin Jackson handling backfield duties while Austin Ekeler (hamstring) recovers on IR. QB Justin Herbert seems ready for prime time, and he’ll be asked to shoulder a heavy load on Monday night. He makes for a solid contrarian captain pivot in this showdown.

The obvious chalk at captain will be Alvin Kamara, who has 45-point upside given the 1.5x multiplier and the fact that Michel Thomas (ankle, coach’s decision) is still out. Latavius Murray is a viable contrarian CPT choice as well, since the Saints could try to salt this thing away with traditional north-south running and goal line plunges if they jump out to a large lead.

There’s still a case to be made for Drew Brees at CPT in what may be his final game facing his old team, and that’s an interesting narrative if not a likely positive outcome. There’s some inefficiency to his game lately and the Saints would be silly not to capitalize on their strong rush offense.

Emmanuel Sanders and Tre’Quan Smith are both high-risk options but should be sprinkled throughout your lineups with the news coming this weekend that Thomas is being disciplined and kept out of action tonight. I kind of like Jared Cook (groin, probable) for his two-TD upside in GPPs at what should be relatively low ownership.

If you’re stacking Herbert with Chargers WRs, you’ll be looking at Keenan Allen and company (Hunter Henry should really eat this week, Mike Williams is questionable but trending upward, and Jalen Guyton could even be an option) in what could be smash spot against a battered Saints secondary.

Week 5 NFL DFS Utility options (and some DOs and DON’Ts)

DON’T: Focus too much on defenses, the sub-2K on DK players (not a lot there) or the Saints passing game tonight, though it’s a viable contrarian play to stack Brees with Cook and a WR if you’re entering large-field MMEs.

DO: Use the projected team totals to shade one way or the other with your selections.

DON’T: Ignore the effectiveness of Latavius Murray this season. The Saints are a different offensive team now and Murray’s bruising style has been one of their strengths,

Week 17 DFS Running Back – Cash Game Plays

Christian McCaffrey, CAR vs. NO

DK ($10,000) FD ($11,000)

McCaffrey is the best fantasy RB in the game and has a chance to finish with over 1,000 yards this season for both rushing and receiving. He is only 67 yards short on the receiving end, so expect the Panthers to let him rack up the receptions and eclipse that mark. In a week with plenty of uncertainty, Panthers’ interim coach Perry Fewell has already stated he has no plans to pull CMC early in Week 17.

Ezekiel Elliott, DAL vs.WAS

DK ($8,000) FD ($8,700)

Zeke should be involved in the Cowboys offense early andoften, and while his workload and productionthis year haven’t been up to his usual standards, he’s still running theball well when given the chance. Just last week against a tough run defense,he had 20 touches and played on 97 percent of the snaps, rushing for 84 yards.Now he gets the lackluster Washington run defense (ranked 28^th inthe NFL) in a game the Cowboys should win. He’s one of the top cash game plays forWeek 17.

Also consider:Joe Mixon, Nick Chubb

Week 17 DFS Running Back – GPP Plays

MarlonMack, IND at JAC

DK ($6,900) FD ($7,300)

The Colts wrap up the season against the Jaguars, who have given up 5.14 yards per carry this season and more than 30 fantasy points a game to opposing runners – the second most in the NFL on both counts. This Jags defense allowed Mack to gash them for 109 yards and a touchdown on 14 carries in Week 11, and Mack’s 7.8 yards per attempt during that game ranks as the RB’s highest since Week 6 of 2017. He’s a great GPP play on a team that hasn’t been throwing it too well.

Sony Michel, NE vs. MIA

DK ($4,900) FD ($6,500)

Michel should tear this Miami run defense to shreds, andhis price is obscenely low on DK. He’s a viable GPP play on both sits, however,and should have pretty low ownership on FD where he’s priced between PhillipLindsay and Damien Williams. I think his upside is a little higher than both thosecapable backs, even with the crowded backfield in New England, because he couldeasily rush for two or three TDs. We’ve been burned by him before, but if youcan stand a little risk, this feels like a big Michel week.

Week 17 DFS Running Back – Contrarian GPP Plays

Saquon Barkley, NYG vs. PHI

DK ($8,700) FD ($9,300)

Barkley doesn’t have the best matchup on paper, but the Giants are using him an awful lot lately and he’s shown explosiveness that’s been missing for most of 2019, averaging 40.1 DraftKings points over his past two games. The volume is there, and the price is still affordable. I’m in love with Barkley as a low-owned contrarian play in a week that might have the DFS masses looking elsewhere.

Kenyan Drake, ARI at LAR

DK ($7,100) FD (7,300)

Drake is coming off another monster game where he carried the ball 24 times for 166 yards and two TDs, adding 3-18-0 receiving in a stunning win over the Seahawks. He now looks to cap off an unexpectedly productive season in a Week 17 road game against the Rams. It’s not a great spot, but we’ve seen Drake rise to the occasion in a tough matchup before, and there’s a lot of free agency money at stake for him.

Also consider: Austin Ekeler, Devonta Freeman

Week 17 DFS Running Back – Value/Punt Plays

Damien Williams, KCvs. LAC

DK ($4,700) FD ($6,400)

Williams was the workhorse last week for the Chiefs and hegets a favorable home matchup against a faltering division rival. The Chargersallow 110.3 rushing yards per game, making Williams a high-upside play in aleading role.

Chris Thompson, WAS at DAL

DK ($3,900) FD ($5,100)

Thompson got some involvement in the running game lastweek, carrying the ball eight times for 34 yards to go along with his usualpassing game role (4-18-0 on four targets). His skill set fits in nicely for thismatchup with the Cowboys, and we could see him get a lot more targets his wayin what should be a negative game script. The price is right on DK, but I’llstay away on FD.

McCaffrey resumes top dog cash game play of the week after a minorbobble of the crown in weeks 13 and 14. He posted his fourth-highest pointstotal of the season in Week 15 and is once again in a smash spot against astruggling Indy defense.

Chris Carson, SEA vs. ARI

DK ($8,500) FD ($8,200)

Carson doesn’t have much competition for touches anymoreand remains a fire-breathing, yard-churning monster the Seattle backfield. Thematchup here checks all the boxes for favorable, including opponent, probable gamescript and home field, He had 133 rushing yards and two scores in Week 15, andthere’s nothing to prevent him form a similar stat line facing the Cards rundefense.

Week 16 DFS RunningBack – GPP Plays

Mark Ingram, BAL at CLE

DK ($6,800) FD ($7,600)

I expect the Ravens to avenge the loss the Browns handed them earlier this season with heavy doses of Mark Ingram, who only had 12 cries and one catch in Week 4. Ingram cost $6,600 then and sputtered to just 9.1 DK points, but I’m expecting production twice that this week, as he should handle a few more red-zone touches and be part of the formula to put the game out of reach, The Browns defense is also pretty beat up.

Saquon Barkley, NYG at WAS

DK ($8,300) FD ($8,800)

Barkley’s price has come up, but it’s not outrageous yet – and Washingtonhasn’t had the pleasure of trying to stop Mr. Barkley yet this season. TheGiants were committed to getting him the ball in Week 15, and he responded with112 rushing yards and two scores (to go along with 5-31-0 receiving) and we canexpect positive results again this week. He’s fine for cash or GPP.

Also consider: Marlon Mack, Leonard Fournette, Alvin Kamara

Week 16 DFS RunningBack – Contrarian GPP Plays

Ezekiel Elliott, DAL at PHI

DK ($7,900) FD ($8,700)

Elliott gashed the Eagles defense for 111 rushing yards and a score in Week 7 and now faces them in a game that likely decides who wins the NFC East and sends the winner to the playoffs. Although the Eagles defense is usually more vulnerable to the passing game, even Jason Garrett can’t screw this up by eliminating the Zeke factor. It’s not a perfect spot for Zeke, but that’s usually when he surprises you with a monster game by catching a few extra passes and mixing in some big plays.

Austin Ekeler, LAC vs. OAK

DK ($6,100) FD (6,800)

Once again, we have a week where nobody is talking about Austin Ekeler, despite a favorable matchup against a division rival that could keep the game close. Last week, Ekeler still managed 10 fantasy points despite low usage and I’m betting he can thump the Raiders with a couple of game-breaking runs or catches. Ekeler’s Kamara-light skillset gives you a huge discount and about the same upside.

Also consider: Aaron Jones, Kenyan Drake

Week 16 DFS RunningBack – Value/Punt Plays

Melvin Gordon, LAC vs. OAK

DK ($5,600) FD ($7,000)

If it’s not Ekeler, it’ll be Gordon, who’s actually cheaper on DraftKings because of the PPR factor. Melvin stands to get a few extra goal-line/red zone carries this week and the Chargers, in general, should be in a good spot to score a few extra points facing a battered Raiders defensive unit. I’m less interested in FanDuel but his price on DK is a bargain.

Kerryon Johnson, DET at DEN

DK ($4,900) FD ($4,500)

Johnson just got activated, so this isn’t aplay for the faint of heart. But the Lions RB has been practicing the past fewweeks and hasn’t experienced any setbacks, and he regularly occupied the 10-20 fantasypoint range when he was healthy. You’re getting low ownership and a solid price(minimum on FD) on a back who could be in for a workhorse role in Week 16.

Additional plays: Phillip Lindsay, Patrick Laird, Dion Lewis (if Derrick Henry sits)

Week 15 DFS RunningBack – Cash Game Plays

Chris Carson, SEA at CAR

DK ($7,500) FD ($7,400)

Normally, lock-n-load cash game RB plays are either expensiveor really cheap, but we’ve got an excellent value play in Carson that’s prettysafe and won’t cost you too much on either site. With Rashad Penny done for theyear, Carson will get elite volume in a smash spot – making this a prime opportunityto eat the chalk and move on with the rest of your lineup.

Leonard Fournette, JAC atOAK

DK ($7,600) FD ($7,700)

Last week I reiterated that Fournette is a weekly lock for 20+touches, and now he’s seen a total of 29 targets over the past three weeks. He’sfacing an Oakland defense that’s been especially vulnerable to rushing TDs overthe past few weeks and there’s no game script that kills this guy’sinvolvement. His floor is still a robust 12-15 DK points and he’s got 25-30-pointupside on both sites.

Week 15 DFS RunningBack – GPP Plays

Christian McCaffrey, CAR vs. SEA

DK ($10,000) FD ($10,400)

McCaffrey got back over 20 DK points last week but faces a toughSeattle defense that’s among the top 10 in the league against the run. He’sstill priced at $10K or more on both sites so I’ll be avoiding him in cashgames – putting him on the radar in GPPs where we could get an elite player ina tougher matchup with low ownership.

Dalvin Cook, MIN at LAC

DK ($8,900) FD ($8,500)

We’ve lost some of the 20+ upsides that Cook showed us early in the season, but this is a great chance for him to get right and bust out with a big game. Cook said he came out of Week 14 feeling “healthy,” which was a concern because of the chest injury. He’s now scored TDs in four straight and should be a focal point of the offense with a 25-point upside facing the Chargers.

Saquon Barkley, NYG vs. MIA

DK ($7,700) FD ($8,300)

Barkley represents decent GPP value on the main slate in awinnable matchup. If he can’t break out for a big day against the Dolphins, I’mafraid he’s just not what we’ve been hoping he’d be for this Giants offense. He’shad just three games with 20+ DK points this year and just two 100-yard rushinggames, but Week 15 is his best matchup of the season.

Week 15 DFS RunningBack – Contrarian GPP Plays

Aaron Jones, GB vs. CHI

DK ($7,300) FD ($7,800)

Jonesexploited a weak Redskins run defense to compilea season-high rushing yardage total last week, rushing 16 times for 134and a TD, adding 6-58-0 on seven targets in the passing game. He’ll be a focalpoint of the Packers offense this week against the Bears as well, and he’s gotmassive upside despite what I would hope would be lower ownership in a “red”matchup.

Austin Ekeler, LAC vs. MIN

DK ($6,700) FD ($7,200)

I included him in this space last week and he went nuts, rushing forover 100 yards and adding 5-112-1 receiving for 37.3 DK points! I really thinkthat Ekeler is matchup-proof and needs to be included in GPPs at his pricepoint, regardless of the presence of Melvin Gordon. IF anything, he could see afew more targets this week against a decent Vikings run defense.

Week 15 DFS RunningBack – Value/Punt Plays

Phillip Lindsay, DEN at KC

DK ($5,600) FD ($6,400)

I don’t see a scenario where Lindsay doesn’t get a lot of touchesfacing the Chiefs, so he’s a viable option in GPPs and even some cash games inWeek 15. It’s been a while since he’s had a GPP-winning breakout (Week 5 atLAC), but this is a spot where I’m comfortable buying shares of him and gettingahead of the field at 25-30 percent personal ownership.

James White, NE at CIN

DK ($5,400) FD ($6,800)

The price has come up since his big Week 13 performance (and he’sa tough fit on FD at $6,800), but White looks like he could have some scoringupside this week against a bad Bengals defense. It’s possible Belichick dialsdown into a running game heavier on Sony Michel and Rex Burkhead, but White hasmaintained enough involvement (aside from the Dallas game) to warrant considerationin GPPs on DK.

Patrick Laird, MIA at NYG

DK ($4,500) FD ($5,500)

Laird is not a stud running back who’s probablygoing to get you 25+ this week, but he’s really the only guy the Dolphins trustright now and he’s in a decent matchup. He rushed for 48 yards on 15carries against the Jets last week and hauled in 4-38-0 on five targets. TheGiants are similarly putrid in their defensive depth and could see Laird notch75 plus total yards and a score – making him a decent value play in allformats.

Additional plays: David Montgomery, LeSean McCoy, Miles Sanders, Sony Michel, Dion Lewis (if Henry inactive or limited)

Week 14 DFS RunningBack – Cash Game Plays

McCaffrey is coming off his lowest-scoring performance since Week 2, and only the second game since then that he didn’t score a TD. But CMC should have plenty of opportunities to remedy when he visits the Falcons in Mercedes-Benz Stadium on Sunday. Treat last week as an anomaly and take advantage of the $200 price drop on DK!

Dalvin Cook, MIN vs. DET

DK ($9,500) FD ($8,700)

Cook normally doesn’thave the upside of CMC, but he’s in a great spot versus the Lions, who rank amongthe worst three defenses in the league against RBs. Cook left the Week 13 lossto the Seahawks on Monday night a little early after injuring his chest, but he’snot on the injury report and there’s no indication he’ll be limited Sunday. He’sgot a 10-point floor and 30-point upside and offers a somewhat cheaper optionthan the top dog.

Derrick Henry, TEN at OAK

DK ($8,200) FD ($8,600)

Henryhas been a godsend for DFS players over the past few weeks, and he’s seeking anotherproductive performance against a Raiders defense that’s yielded 134.8 yardsfrom scrimmage per game and 13 touchdowns to running backs so far this season.

Week 14 DFS RunningBack – GPP Plays

Aaron Jones, GB vs. WAS

DK ($6,700) FD ($7,800)

Jones dealt with some ankle pain last week but this home matchup againstthe Redskins is about as favorable as you can get. The Packers have an impliedtotal over 27 points, and while we should still see Jamaal Williams (knee) getsome work, both backs offer upside in this smash spot.

Leonard Fournette, JAC vs.LAC

DK ($7,400) FD ($7,500)

Fournette is a lock for 20+ touches this week at home against the Chargers, and he’s seen 23 targets over the past two weeks operating as a workhorse back in all aspects on the Jags offense. His floor remains round 10-12 points and he’s got a 30-point upside.

Nick Chubb,CLE vs. CIN

DK ($8,000) FD ($7,900)

Chubb isn’t cheap, but I could see him matching his production fromthe Miami game a couple of weeks ago, when he rolled for 106 yards and a TD,adding 3-58-0 receiving. The additional of Kareem Hunt has hurt his week-to-weekconsistency, but Chubb is in a positive game script here and the Bengals cannotstop him.

Week 14 DFS RunningBack – Contrarian GPP Plays

Alvin Kamara, NO vs. SF

DK ($7,000) FD ($7,600)

Kamara has a tough matchup vs. the 49ers on Sunday, but the game is in New Orleans on the turf and this could be a higher-scoring game than the 44.5 game total. The Saints have a 23.5 implied total, and a lot of that should be the fruits of Kamara’s and Michael Thomas’ labor. A contrarian GPP plays for those of you who think the Saints could hand the 49ers their third loss in Week 14.

Austin Ekeler, LAC at DEN

DK ($6,300) FD ($7,000)

Even with Melvin Gordon getting regular carries, Ekeler has scoredfour receiving TDs over his last six games. He’s got plenty of big plays in himdue to his speed and elusiveness, and I’m committed to using him in GPPs as acontrarian play once again in Week 14.

Week 14 DFS RunningBack – Value/Punt Plays

LeSean McCoy, KC at NE

DK ($4,400) FD ($6,100)

McCoy will get the start on Sunday against the Patriots and while it’s not a great matchup, he should see enough involvement to pay off his dirt-cheap price at $4,400 on DK. I’m less interested in FanDuel, where he’s over $6K.

Alexander Mattison, MIN vs.DET

DK ($4,500) FD ($5,100)

It’s not often you can recommend two RBs in the same offense, but theLions defense has been so bad vs. RBS that it could be warranted. Mattison’s presencelimits Cook’s GPP upside a little bit, and we could easily see 10-15 touchesfor the backup RB in a positive game script at home this week.

Additional plays: Phillip Lindsay, Melvin Gordon, Bilal Powell (if Bell out), Darwin Thompson

McCaffrey scored another 30+ DK points last week and while the price came up on FD to $11K, he’s still affordable on both sites. At some point, you’d think the heavy volume would diminish, but it doesn’t. He’s a fine play at home versus Washington in Week 13.

Saquon Barkley, NYG vs. GB

DK ($7,400) FD ($7,600)

Barkley should be a featured weapon Sunday against the Packers (ina game that will be played in rainy weather) and should get a boatload ofcarriers and usage – the red zone included. Green Bay struggled to defend therun and while he’s far from the fantasy ceiling and floor of McCaffrey, he’s oneof the best cash game options we have, especially at the reduced price on FD.

Aaron Jones,GB at NYG

DK ($6,800) FD ($8,000)

Jones makes sense as a bargain cash gameplay on DK and has an excellent matchup in what should be a positive game script against the Giants. The weather could force the Packers to run the ball a lot more. I wouldn’t play both Barkley and Jones together, but both should get plenty of opportunities to produce.

Week 13 DFS RunningBack – GPP Plays

Josh Jacobs, OAK at KC

DK ($6,900) FD ($7,700)

The shoulder injury has kept him limited again this week, but he’sstill a GPP option facing the league’s worst defense against RBs. No need to overthinkthis – if he’s active and not seriously limited, he’s worth using in GPPs.

Derrick Henry, TEN at IND

DK ($7,600) FD ($8,600)

We’ll keep an eye on news about Henry (hamstring) over theweekend, but the questionable tag shouldn’t diminish our enthusiasm for him inGPPs – especially because he doesn’t have much competition for carries in theTitans offense. He’s got 347 rushing yards and four TDs over his last twogames.

Miles Sanders, PHI at MIA

DK ($5,400) FD ($5,800)

Jordan Howard could be back this week, but Miles Sanders stillmakes sense in GPPs. His speed and usage in all aspects of the Eagles offensecould see him flourish against a poor Miami defense. I wouldn’t recommend him incash games unless Howard is inactive, but he’s going to make many of my GPPbuilds regardless.

It’s not a great matchup, but I’m also not convinced the Jags areready to get away from their current offensive style with Nick Foles undercenter. I expect them to try to grind out a win vs. the Bucs and do so with alot of shorter passes and plenty of involvement from Fournette.

Austin Ekeler, LAC at DEN

DK ($5,700) FD ($6,700)

Melvin Gordon has typically struggled against the Broncos, so wecould see a few more touches and targets for Ekeler in Week 13. He’s a muchbetter play on DK with the full-point PPR, and the upside is still there becauseof his big-play capability.

Week 13 DFS RunningBack – Value/Punt Plays

LeSean McCoy, KC vs. OAK

DK ($4,800) FD ($5,800)

McCoy and Darrell Williams will shoulder the load for the Chiefswith Damien Williams looking unlikely to suit up this week. I like McCoy alittle better, but Darrel Dubs is seven cheaper at $4,400 on DK.

Derrius Guice, WAS at CAR

DK ($4,500) FD($5,400)

Guice has a favorable matchup vs. the Panthers (ranked 30th againstRBs), and he should probably receive more touches than Adrian Peterson. Ownershipin GPPs should be down and we could see a breakthrough performance for theembattled young back this week.

Additional plays: Darrel Williams, Jalen Richard (if Jacobs is out or limited)

Week 9 DFS Running Back – Cash Game Plays

Dalvin Cook, MIN at KC

DK ($9,500) FD ($9,000)

Cook has as much upside as any fantasy RB in football,excluding maybe Christian McCaffrey (more on him later), with the highestfloor. He’s the top play this week in cash games and despite the huge price tagand ownership, he’s worth a look in all formats. Lock the dude in against a badrun defense and what should be a high-scoring, relatively closely-matched affair.

Chris Carson, SEA vs. TB

DK ($7,200) FD ($8,200)

Carson has just one TD and one target last week but rushed for 90 yards and remains an affordable, elite fantasy RB with plenty of upside. There’s a chance the Seahawks throw a bit more this week facing a Bucs defense that’s vulnerable in its secondary, but that’s not keeping me away from one the most consistent value plays in the game.

Week 9 DFS Running Back – GPP Plays

Christian McCaffrey, CAR vs.TEN

DK ($10,000) FD ($9,700)

McCaffrey was limited at practice due to a knee injury, but Ron Rivera said he’s not concerned, so should we be? I may not be playing him a $10,000 on DK in too many cash games, but the “injury” and the price could keep a few more folks from clicking his name in GPPs. He’s still involved in all aspects of the Carolina offense, and is on track for another 5-10 targets and 20+ fantasy points, even if he’s not 100 percent.

Josh Jacobs, OAK vs. DET

DK ($6,500) FD ($7,200)

The Lions run defense isn’t wonderful, and Jacobs gets aton of touches. Huis ownership could be down coming off a poor showing atHouston and the big red “Q” that’s next to his name right now because he was listedas a limited participant at Wednesday’s practice. But Jacobs played through whatevershoulder issue he’s been having last week, and there have been no reportedsetbacks in that game. I’m guessing the team is just limiting his practice repsin advance of this weekend’s matchup against Detroit, which is just fine.

Le’Veon Bell, NYJ at MIA

DK ($7,700) FD ($7,000)

Here’s where things could get a little dicey, but alsoprofitable. The Dolphins defense is no match for a healthy, engaged Bell, andeven dumb-bucket Jets head coach Adam Gase knows it. Gase blames himself forBell getting only 12 touches in Sunday’s pathetic 29-15 loss to the Jaguars, andspent this week trying to trade everyone under the sun before copping to hismiscues. I do think that since he couldn’t trade Bell (which he can’t now, sothere’s no reason to limit his usage) he’ll give him a full complement oftouches and Bell should see plenty of opportunity to pay off his price tag onboth sites.

Nick Chubb, CLE at DEN

DK ($7,300) FD ($8,100)

Chubb rushed for 131 yards on 20 carries against thePatriots, a notoriously tough defense to run on. This week, he gets the Broncos,who are not as good, in a contest that should be a lot closer and require justas much running from the former Georgia Bulldog. He should also have more usagein the passing game (26 targets over six weeks before last week’s one-target debacle)and probably won’t fumble twice in Denver. Jump on this under-the-radar talentin GPPs.

Marlon Mack, IND at PIT

DK ($6,300) FD ($6,900)

Mack ran for 76 yards and a score on 19 carries, adding a14-yard catch during Sunday’s 15-13 battle over Denver (which followed a slowweek against the Texans), and he faces a decent Steelers run defense this timearound. Again – he sees a lot of touch volume and won’t draw large ownershiplevels in GPPs. The price came up slightly but I’m buying this week.

Jaylen Samuels, PIT vs. IND

DK ($4,000) FD ($5,000)

James Connor is still dinged up and questionable for Sunday’s game, while Samuels practiced fully on Wednesday and looks like he could be the bell cow if Connor and Benny Snell are both on the shelf against Indy. His ownership will be sky-high if both those Steelers RBs are inactive, but it’ll be worth it for the role he’ll have – along with the 20-25 point upside.

Week 9 DFS Running Back – Contrarian GPP Plays

Austin Ekeler, LAC vs. GB

DK ($6,000) FD ($6,500)

I’ll never understand why coaches like Anthony Lynn getaway from the guys who have been successful, but such is the case. Giving Ekelerjust three carries and three targets would have been a bigger story had the Chargerslost (and they should have), but we can guess that he’ll have a larger workloadthis week, where the shifty back should dominate the backfield touches againstan opponent that could jump out to a lead. It doesn’t necessarily have to be a negativegame script for Ekeler to succeed, so I’ll be using him once again in GPPs forhis massive upside – even if he continues to split with the less versatile MelvinGordon.

Ty Johnson, DET at OAK

DK ($4,900) FD ($5,500)

This play is not for the faint of heart, and it’s going tobe tough to click his name after what happened in Week 8. I know – I feel you.But Tough Guy Ty was on everybody’s list last week for a reason. He’s got a fewthings going against him this week, but his ownership will be a fraction of whatit was a week ago, and we have to take some contrarian chances in DFS.

Week 9 DFS Running Back – Value/Punt Plays

David Montgomery, CHI at PHI

DK ($5,200) FD ($6,600)

Montgomery had his breakout game last week (27 carries, 135rushing yards, TD; 4-12-0 receiving) as we profiled him in this same “valueplay” section. The price has come up a bit, but he’s still a veritable bargain andfaces an Eagles defense that’s only slightly better than the Chargers.

Devin Singletary, BUF vs. WAS

DK ($4,700) FD ($6,100)

The Bills are at home facing Washington this week, and they’reeager to shake off the display they put on against the Eagles. Expect a lot moretouches coming to Singletary as the team finds more ways to get him the ball.

Royce Freeman, DEN vs. CLE

DK ($4,900) FD($5,700)

Freeman could see an increased workload this week if PhillipLindsay (wrist) can’t play, and the matchup against the Browns is a juicy one.

Mark Walton, MIA vs. NYJ

DK ($4,500) FD ($5,700)

With Kenyan Drake off to Arizona, Walton has taken over aslead back for Miami. While he didn’t find much running room against theSteelers on Monday night, he has a solid matchup against the Jets’ porous rundefense in Week 9.
