Early Games

Bengals at Ravens

This game looks like a get right spot for quarterback Lamar Jackson ($6,900). The Bengals are one of the worst defenses in the NFL. The worst fantasy performance for a quarterback playing them has scored 16 fantasy points. Factor in Jackson’s rushing ability and he is a great player to roster into your cash lineups. The Bengals gave up 93 rushing yards last week to Cardinals’ quarterback Kyler Murray. Also, do not overlook Mark Ingram II ($6,600) as the Bengals have allowed the second-most fantasy points to running backs this season. Any running back that has seen at least ten carries versus them has scored at least 14 fantasy points. No team has a higher implied team total than the Ravens via RotoCurve at 29.75 points.

https://twitter.com/HaydenWinks/status/1182026645022085122

Via Ian Hartitz the Ravens are allowing 6.7 yards per play which is the second-highest of any defense so far in 2019. There is potential for the Bengals to score in this game and create a friendly atmosphere for fantasy points. Joe Mixon ($5,500) is the cheapest three-down back you will find on the slate. If you exclude Week 1 versus the Dolphins the Ravens defense has allowed the most rushing touchdowns and most red zone touches to opposing running backs. Mixon has ten of the 12 red zone touches this season on the Bengals.

Texans at Chiefs

If Sammy Watkins and Tyreek Hill do not play in this game you will want to play Byron Pringle ($3,500). He will act as the free square at the wide receiver position this week. Also if you are looking to fade a high-priced chalky wide receiver in DeAndre Hopkins ($7,400) consider pivoting to Travis Kelce ($7,000). Kelce has at least eight targets in every single game this season with at least 70 receiving yards. However, he only has one touchdown reception. This should change in Week 6 with positive touchdown regression coming from Patrick Mahomes ($7,500) and the Chiefs offense.

As for the Texans, I am not so sure we see the offensive explosion from last week. Playing in Kansas City is a much different spot than home against the Atlanta Falcons. Carlos Hyde ($4,400) is going to be overlooked with everybody flocking to the passing game. However, Hyde has to be considered because the Chiefs are allowing 5.3 yards per carry which rank second-highest in the NFL. When the Chiefs are at home, teams’ opponents are averaging 38.5 rushing attempts per game.

Saints at Jaguars

Are you part of Minshew Mania? Well, this week in DraftKings you may want to be. Gardner Minshew ($5,000) is one of the best valued lower-priced quarterbacks on the slate. He is averaging 17.9 fantasy points per game. This week he is playing the Saints at home. New Orleans on the season has allowed the second-most fantasy points to the quarterback position. Minshew has scored at least 14 fantasy points in each game this season and has scored 21 or more points in both of his home starts. He is also averaging right around 25 rushing yards per game. You will want to consider stacking Mishew with one or both D.J. Chark ($5,500) and Dede Westbrook ($5,100).

People are going to see the Saints matchup and project Chark to be a bust in Week 6. Marshon Lattimore is coming off a game where he just completely blanked Mike Evans. However, Evans and Chark are two completely different wide receivers. Evans is a size specimen whereas Chark is a guy that possesses 4.34 speed. Chark is too cheap to pass on. The Saints still allow the fifth-most fantasy points to the wide receiver position. Specifically, it has been against slot receivers this season. Chris Godwin, Tyler Lockett, and Cooper Kupp all went over 100 yards when they played the Saints. Westbrook is coming off his best game of the year, as he had seven receptions on 11 targets for 82 receiving yards.

For New Orleans, it is worth paying up to get Alvin Kamara this week. We just saw Christian McCaffery absolutely tear up the Jaguars. Considering that Jalen Ramsey is also likely to play in the game, that could force more targets to the way of Kamara. Jacksonville gives up the sixth-most fantasy points to the running back position. The Jaguars have also allowed the second-most red-zone targets to the running back position. No team has allowed higher yards per attempt on the ground (5.5) than the Jaguars.

Eagles at Vikings

We saw the bounce-back effort from Vikings’ passing attack in Week 5 and that should continue in Week 6. Philadelphia gives up the fifth-most fantasy points to the wide receiver position. Stefon Diggs ($5,900) comes in at cheap price and can definitely expose the Eagles’ secondary. Dalvin Cook ($8,400) is going to be avoided by the majority of players because the Eagles allow the fifth-fewest fantasy points to the running back position. However, Cook is heavily involved in the passing game and according to Sports Info Solutions, the Vikings are one of the best teams in terms of screen usage to their running backs from an efficiency standpoint. The Eagles are one of the worst teams at defending screens. Play Dalvin Cook in Week 6.

https://twitter.com/fduffy3/status/1182329040558055425

Seahawks at Browns

It’s time for Odell Beckham Jr. ($6,800) to bounce back. Beckham is still seeing a large target share on the Browns’ offense and is priced so low this week. The Seahawks pass-rush is not nearly as good as the 49ers so Baker Mayfield should have more time to throw the ball. The Seahawks have also given up some massive games to wide receivers this year. Cooper Kupp and John Ross both went over 100 receiving yards and scored touchdowns.

Redskins at Dolphins

The best plays for value in this game are Adrian Peterson ($4,500) and Preston Williams ($4,100). Williams via @TJHernandez on Twitter leads the league in red-zone target share. Josh Rosen has shown chemistry with Williams throughout his starts with 19 targets in his last two games. The matchup is also amazing on paper as the Redskins have given up the second-most fantasy points to wide receivers this season.

For Peterson, the narrative seems to be completely coach-driven. Interim head coach Bill Callahan has explicitly stated that he wants to run the ball more. Against the Dolphins it could not be a better spot to establish the run. Miami has given up the most fantasy points to running backs this season. In 2018 with the Redskins when Peterson saw at least 19 carries he averaged 100 rushing yards per game. For defenses, the Washington Redskins DST ($3,200) is also a great option. The Dolphins via PFF grades rank last in pass-blocking on the season. Washington sacked Tom Brady five times in Week 5.

Falcons at Cardinals

Time to fire up your Austin Hooper shares ($5,000). Hooper draws the best matchup of the week versus the Arizona Cardinals who have been the worst team versus the tight end position. Hooper leads the league in routes run at tight end and the spot is just too good to pass him up at his price. I say it’s worth eating the high ownership with Hooper for cash games and going contrarian in tournaments.

49ers at Rams

Without Brandin Cooks, the Rams will be forced to play more 12-personnel on offense. That would be huge for a guy like Gerald Everett ($3,600) who is tenth in the league in tight end targets and second on the Rams in red-zone targets. He is by far the best punt play at tight end on the main slate.

Cowboys at Jets

Le’Veon Bell ($6,400) for the Jets has a real chance to be productive in this game for Dallas. Number one reason, of course, is the return of his quarterback Sam Darnold. The other reason is that the Cowboys have not been great versus pass-catching running backs. They have allowed the fourth-most receptions, third-most targets, fifth-most yards, and third-most red-zone targets to the running back position. With Bell seeing 94% of the snaps in the backfield he is one of the best cash-game options on the main slate. He is averaging right under 26 touches per game, and with only one touchdown scored he is bound for some positive regression. Also, Jets DST ($1,500) also needs to be considered for cash because of how cheap that price is.

https://twitter.com/Ihartitz/status/1182318061942181888

For the Cowboys Ezekiel Elliott ($8,500) continues to come in at an extremely high-price. However, I believe that he can be a great GPP play because of how he disappointed as the chalk running back at home last week. In Week 5, Elliott was missing two key offensive linemen in La’el Collins and Tyron Smith. They should both be good to go in Week 6, which would help elevate Elliott’s production against a middle of the pack New York run defense.

Titans at Broncos

This game features my favorite sneaky receiver to play in DraftKings on the Week 6 main slate. That receiver is A.J. Brown ($4,200). Last week he actually had a touchdown from Marcus Mariota negated by a penalty. He played in 64.5% of the snaps in Week 5 which was the highest of the season. It was the first time all season that he out-snapped both Adam Humphries and Tajae Sharpe. He has low price, to go along with a matchup that suits him to have a blow-up game in Week 6. With the Broncos up next cornerback Chris Harris will most likely be shadowing Corey Davis allowing Brown to see more looks. Just last week Keenan Allen drew coverage from Harris and Chargers’ wide receiver two Mike Williams saw a season-high 13 targets. Brown ranks eighth in the NFL in yards per route run (2.38) of any players that have at least 19 targets.

For the Broncos, the best matchup on paper they have is at tight end. The Titans are allowing the fifth-most fantasy points to the position. Noah Fant ($2,900) ranks in the top-ten in the NFL in routes run at tight end through the first five weeks. Fant is definitely the third option in the Broncos’ passing attack. Courtland Sutton ($5,000) also continues to be a value at wide receiver. He ranks tenth in the NFL in receiving yards (401).

NFL Week 4 DFS is almost complete. Let’s take a look at the biggest takeaways from all of Sunday’s Week 4 DFS action. I have compiled 12 major observations from the games played on Sunday. Above all, we also will look ahead to Week 5. Prices discussed are for DraftKings.

The Dome Is Patrick Mahomes’ Kryptonite

The stage was set for the Chiefs and Patrick Mahomes to blow up against a Detroit Lions defense that was missing their top cornerback in Darius Slay. However, Mahomes failed to throw or rush for a touchdown for the first time. Yet, he still scored 21.7 DraftKings points which just shows the type of floor he possesses in both GPPs and cash games. Mahomes saw 22.5% ownership in the NFL MASSIVE $25 DOUBLE UP. You will have to go without Patrick Mahomes in Week 5, though, because the Chiefs are playing on Sunday night.

Chris Godwin Unstoppable

Chris Godwin is producing more than Mike Evans despite seeing fewer targets through four weeks of the season. Whether it is due to the fact that Evans sees more coverage every single week or not, the top Buccaneers receiver has scored the following: 14.3, 29.1, 48.1, and 44.2. If you can identify which one is likely to have the big game, their ceiling is sky-high. In Week 5, the Buccaneers are playing the Saints. Evans is priced at $7,100 and Godwin is at $6,900. Historically, Evans has played better versus the Saints and will most likely face Marshon Lattimore. It’s worth noting as well that Godwin was owned in less than 0.4% of lineups in the NFL $300K FAIR CATCH despite just being at $6,00 salary.

https://twitter.com/adamlevitan/status/1178484332312305664

Full-On Nick Chubb

There were not many people high on Nick Chubb in Week 4 DFS. In the WEEK 4 DFS GPP NFL $300K FAIR CATCH contest Chubb was owned in just 2.3% of lineups. His price was not absurd at $6,400, but the buzz around the Browns was low and the matchup was perceived to be tough on the road versus Baltimore. This tended to not be the case, and goes back to the idea that in GPPs you want to target running backs that are game flow independent in matchups that do not look great on paper. Sometimes the amount of volume and opportunities will come through as the determining factor. Also, consider that the Ravens gave up a lot of points to the running back position in Week 3; more players should have been on Chubb. Chubb scored 42.3 fantasy points in Week 4.

Lamar Jackson Still Underrated

It seems like Lamar Jackson still is not played enough. In the Week 4 DFS NFL MASSIVE $50 DOUBLE UP contest, Jackson had just 2.1% ownership. He had 5.6% ownership in the WEEK 4 DFS GPP NFL $300K FAIR CATCH. This tells me that players are still not viewing Jackson as a trustworthy quarterback or are scared off his high price tag. After two down weeks, Jackson is likely to be under-owned in Week 5 as the highest priced quarterback on the main slate at $7,100. Keep in mind that Jackson is going to be facing a weak Steelers’ defense in Week 5. Jackson has also yet to score less than 21 fantasy points this season.

Russell Wilson Was A Huge Bust

Everybody was on Wilson in Week 4 DFS. And of course, he busted. He scored just 14.3 fantasy points because he attempted just a total of 28 passes. Those were similar to the total passing attempts he had in just the fourth quarter from LAST WEEK. That is why is it is crucial that context is put behind these performances. For the Seahawks to unleash Wilson he needs to be put in a negative game script or the Seahawks will just run. Wilson was highly owned in the Week 4 DFS NFL $300K FAIR CATCH contest at 20.7%. He was even higher owned in the NFL MASSIVE $50 DOUBLE UP at 29.7%. In the end, he was a trap play in Week 4 with the Seahawks as favorites on the road against the Cardinals. The Seahawks take on the Rams in Week 5 on Thursday night.

Denver Broncos Late Game Swap

Are you using the late-game swap for DFS? If you are not aware of it go read one of my past articles titled DFS DraftKings: Fantasy Football Winning Tips. It can give you a huge edge in DFS. Here is why: In the late games, it was announced that Jalen Ramsey was going to be inactive. Despite this, Emmanuel Sanders was at just 2.6% ownership and Courtland Sutton at just 1.1% ownership even though both were under 5K. They both went under-owned because people were not sure about Ramsey and thus avoided them altogether. Take advantage of these late-game inactives and build lineups with the flexibility that you can swap in guys if inactives pop up. Both Sanders and Sutton were value plays and should have been higher owned. In Week 5, Sanders is $5,100 and Sutton is $4,900.

The Will Dissly Chalk Hits

The trend against the Arizona Cardinals’ defense continues. Tight ends cannot be contained versus this defense and you should just continue to play tight ends until something else tells you otherwise. In Week 4 DFS, Will Dissly was massive chalk with 40.3% ownership at tight end and he hit by scoring 18.7 fantasy points. In Week 5, the Bengals will play Arizona, setting the stage for an extremely cheap Tyler Eifert at $3,300 and C.J. Uzomah at $2,600.

The Keenan Allen Wide Receiver Trap

A tip for DFS players is that paying up for the expensive chalk wide receivers do not usually pan out. That was the whole idea surrounding Allen this week, who was priced up at $7,600. He scored just 9.8 fantasy points and had a whopping 60.9% ownership in the NFL MASSIVE $50 DOUBLE UP and a 39.6% ownership in the NFL $300K FAIR CATCH GPP contest. When looking for exposure to teams with high implied totals always aim for the receivers that are cheaper. In this scenario, it should have been a no-brainer to play Dontrelle Inman at $3,000, who was at 13.6% in the NFL MASSIVE $50 DOUBLE UP. Always eat the low-priced value wide receiver chalk and never on high-priced WRs.

Wayne Gallman Jr. Delivers As Chalk Running Back

We all wondered if Gallman would see a full snap share in Week 4 DFS and he delivered. He scored 28.8 fantasy points and at 4,600 was a great value play for anyone who used him. When you get a running back with a three-down skill set under 5K they need to be rostered. He was at 18.1% ownership in the NFL $300K FAIR CATCH GPP contest and was at a whopping 44.7% ownership in the NFL MASSIVE $50 DOUBLE UP. But will he continue to be a value play in Week 5? Considering his new price of $5,400 and a date with the Vikings defense, I am hesitant on Gallman for Week 5.

Kerryon Johnson Delivers

I was very high on Johnson entering this week and he came up big. He rushed for 125 yards and had two receptions. However, he was unable to find the end zone and actually fumbled at the goal line, which resulted in a touchdown for the Chiefs. He was highly owned at 25.7% ownership in the NFL MASSIVE $50 DOUBLE UP and 16.2% ownership in the NFL $300K FAIR CATCH. It could have been a bigger game for Johnson, but it is worth noting that game flow favored the Lions, allowing Johnson to get 26 carries. He will be heavily owned when the Lions play the Packers weak run defense in Week 6 following the Lions’ bye week.

Austin Hooper Price Break

The people at DraftKings do not like Hooper. After another 25-point performance in Week 4 DFS, Hooper’s salary has increased by just $200 to $4,500. Through the first four weeks of the season, Hooper has at least six targets and four receptions in each game. At the tight end position, he ranks fourth in the NFL in receptions, second in touchdowns and seventh in targets. Via DraftKings, he has caught 81.8 percent of the passes thrown his way since the start of last season. He will continue to be a value at his price into Week 5.

Leonard Fournette: It’s All About Touches

Leonard Fournette still has not scored a touchdown yet this season and that trend is going to end very soon. The amount of touches Fournette is seeing is absurd. He is seeing over 90% of the running workload and 20% in the passing game. That trend continued on Sunday with 29 rushing attempts for 225 rushing yards along with two receptions for 20 receiving yards. On the season Fournette has 96 total touches which is 24 per game. At this rate, it is just a matter of time until Fournette finds the end zone. His price is at $6,500 in Week 5. He is an ideal cash game play.

NFL DFS Week 3 is almost complete.Let’s take a look at the biggest takeaways from all of Sunday’s Week 3 DFSaction. I have compiled 12 major observations from the games played on Sunday. We also look ahead to Week 4. Prices discussed are for DraftKings.

Sign up NOW for WIN DAILYSPORTS Premium Gold right here! Projections, wagering info,24/7 expert chats and more!

MikeEvans #Kaboom

Mike Evans was underpriced byDraftKings in comparison to Chris Godwin this week. Let’s just say somebodymust have told Evans that because he made them ALL pay. I was high on Evans with the discount and he wasa GPP winner. At 10.7 percent ownership, he was featured in the winning lineupof the DFS Week 3 NFL $500K SLANT contest. The sharps were definitely ontoEvans having a bounce-back week. However, if you missed out on Evans this week,he is someone to fade hard in Week 4 against the Rams. Evans’ price hasinflated to $7,100, whereas the value is in Godwin, whose price fell to $6,000.Los Angeles gives up the second-fewest fantasy points to the wide receiverposition.

NelsonAgholor Delivers As Chalk

In the first half of the game, things were not looking great for Agholor. He was heavily played at his $3,600price tag. In the second half, he delivered big with two touchdown receptions. In the DFS Week 3 NFL MASSIVE $50 DOUBLE UP contest Aghlolor saw a whopping67.5 ownership percentage. He was essentially the free square space in cashgames in Week 3. But what is more interesting was his usage in GPP contests. His ownership dropped down to 30.2 percent in the NFL $500K SLANT. Thelow-priced value wide receivers are always going to be lower owned in GPPs. Whatthis means is you can not only eat the chalk in cash games with a cheaphigh-value receiver, but you can still do it in GPPs as well. For Week 4,Agholor is not on the main slate because he is playing Thursday night.

PatrickMahomes Continues To Dazzle

Is their a defense on the planetthat can stop Mahomes? Mahomes has been on absolute fire to start the seasonand will continue to be a value in DraftKings in Week 4. His price has actuallydecreased from $7,600 to $7,500 in DraftKings for the upcoming week. The Lionshave allowed an average of 287 passing yards to opposing quarterbacks thisseason. It looks like Mahomes is going to throw for another 300 yards and threetouchdowns.

CardinalsCannot Stop Tight Ends

The Arizona Cardinals defense cannotcover the tight end position. For three straight weeks, they have allowed anopposing tight end to score 21-plus fantasy points. In Week 4 the Cardinals areplaying the Seattle Seahawks, setting the stage for tight end Will Dissly. Heis priced up just $200 more since last week at $3,600. He will be a great cheaptight end to target considering he has three touchdown receptions in the lasttwo weeks on 12 targets.

Timeto Run All Over the Dolphins

Need a running back play? Trywhoever is playing the Miami Dolphins that week. Not only was Ezekiel Elliottat $8,900 and 50 percent ownership able to produce, but backup running backTony Pollard got in on the action. For Week 4, the Miami Dolphins will betaking on the Los Angeles Chargers. This sets up nicely for Austin Ekeler, whohas been priced up to $8,000 after three weeks of severe underpricing. Ekeleris still going to be a great option in cash games though and will be continuedto be heavily rostered. He was at 40.5 percent ownership in the DFS Week 3 NFLMASSIVE $50 DOUBLE UP contest.

DannyDimes

Daniel Jones was rostered in just 1.8 percent of lineups in the NFL $500K SLANT. He was in the winning lineup in that contest. He absolutely smashed his projection by scoring 39.24 fantasy points. Jones put the team on his back with the injury to Saquon Barkley. His salary was only $5,000 in DraftKings in Week 3, and his price rose to just $5,300 in Week 4. The Giants will play the Washington Redskins on a short week. The Redskins defense through the first two weeks of the season has allowed the fourth-most fantasy points to the quarterback position. Jones will continue to be a value because the Giants bad defense will force the quarterback to have to keep pace.

KyleAllen > Cam Newton

Allen spoiled any DFS player thatplayed him in Week 3. He was just too great of value at a mediocre $4,000salary. Allen was heavily rostered with 9.7 percent ownership in the NFL $500KSLANT, and 28.4% ownership in the NFL MASSIVE $50 DOUBLE UP. The price point onhis salary was the main drive of his ownership; however, going into Week 4 witha matchup against the Texans at $5,200 it might be wise to go right back toKyle Allen. The Texans have allowed two of the three quarterbacks they havefaced two passing touchdowns and at least 300 yards.

KylerMurray Uses His Legs

Kyler Murray only had six rushingattempts for 17 yards through the first two weeks of the season. In Week 3, thescript changed and Murray rushed eight times for 69 yards. He also had twopassing touchdowns to go with 173 passing yards. People were definitely high onMurray as he garnered 15 percent ownership in the DFS Week 3 NFL MASSIVE $50DOUBLE UP. As a result of his rushing upside combined with the fact that he isthrowing 40 times per game, Murray has a great floor in cash but still has thatpotential for a nice ceiling GPP game.

RussellWilson Continues to Be Overlooked

Seems like there are just not enoughpeople playing Russell Wilson in DraftKings. He was $6,300 in Week 3, scored44.34 fantasy points, and had just 1.6 percent ownership in the NFL $500K SLANTGPP contest. Both of his primary receivers, Tyler Lockett and DK Metcalf, bothwere under four percent owned. Also, with the Cardinals coming up next week thefolks at DraftKings have been nice enough to lower Wilson to $6,100, and movehis two primary receivers up just $100 each. People were off Wilson due to thefact that he just had 20 passing attempts Week 1, but those attempts haveincreased by 15 over the past two weeks.

DalvinCook Continues to Smash

Dalvin Cook was in an obvious greatmatchup against the Oakland Raiders and yet his ownership was at a mere 32.8percent in the DFS Week 3 NFL MASSIVE $50 DOUBLE UP. Maybe more than 66 percentof people hate winning. He was even lower owned in the NFL $500K SLANT at 21.3percent. With the Vikings taking on the Bears in Week 4, I am sure that somepeople will be off Cook making him an even better target in DFS across allformats. As a result, his price has finally reached over $8K at $8,300. Youshould still play him, that is if you like money.

MarlonMack – Three Down Back

Mack rushed 16 times for 74 yardswith a touchdown and brought in two of three targets for 14 yards in Week 4.Mack has now seen three straight games with at least 18 touches. Running backNyheim Hines has seen just as many targets as Mack in the last two weeks. Thisis great for Mack moving forward, especially as he takes on the Raiders.Indianapolis has the fifth-highest run play rate in the NFL through the firstthree weeks. The Raiders defense played well against the run at home, but inWeek 3 on the road, they allowed 211 rushing yards. Oakland was the third-worstrun defense in 2018. As a result, Mack in DraftKings has been priced up toabove $6K for the first time at $6,100.

WereWe Not High Enough On Mark Ingram?

In the highest projected total gameof the week, Ingram should have be more heavily owned. One would think that therunning back on one of the most explosive offenses in the league would behighly rostered. Well, it did not pan out that way. In the DFS Week 3 NFL $500KSLANT contest, Mark Ingram had just 3.7 percent ownership. He scored threetouchdowns and rushed for over 100 yards. Now it must have been the projectedgame script that scared players away from Ingram. Players must have assumed theRavens would be from behind, but the matchup was still good. The Chiefs defensegave up 99 yards rushing just last week to Josh Jacobs. The Chiefs are allowinga league-high 6.2 yards per rushing attempt. Kerryon Johnson might be aninteresting play as the Chiefs take on the Lions In Week 4.

All that considered Ingram still hadfour targets and four receptions in the passing game, along with the majorityof work in the red zone. His price has gone up to $6,600 from $5,700 but theRavens are back at home in Week 4. The Browns are allowing over 100 rushingyards per game so far through the first three weeks.

Mike Evans #Kaboom

Mike Evans was underpriced by DraftKings in comparison to Chris Godwin this week. Let’s just say somebody must have told him that because he made them ALL pay. I was high on Evans with the discount and he was a GPP winner. At 10.7 percent ownership, he was featured in the winner of the DFS Week 3 NFL $500K SLANT contest. The sharps were definitely onto Evans having a bounce-back week. However, if you missed out on Evans this week, he is someone to fade hard in Week 4 against the Rams. Evans priced has inflated to $7,100, whereas the value is in Godwin whose price fell to $6,000. Los Angeles gives up the second-fewest fantasy points to the wide receiver position.

Nelson Agholor Delivers As Chalk

In the first half of the game, things were not looking great for Agholor. He was heavily played at his $3,600 price tag. In the second half, he delivered big with two touchdown receptions. In the DFS Week 3 NFL MASSIVE $50 DOUBLE UP contest Aghlolor saw a whopping 67.5 ownership. He was essentially the free square space in cash games in Week 3. But what is more interesting was his usage in GPP contests. His ownership dropped down to 30.2 percent in the NFL $500K SLANT. The low-priced value wide receivers are always going to be lower owned in GPPs. What this means is you can not only eat the chalk in cash games with a cheap high-value receiver, but you can still do it in GPPs as well. For Week 4, Agholor is not on the main slate because he is playing Thursday night.

Patrick Mahomes Continues To Dazzle

Is their a defense on the planet that can stop Mahomes? Mahomes has been on absolute fire to start the season and will continue to be a value in DraftKings in Week 4. His price has actually decreased from $7,600 to $7,500 in DraftKings for the upcoming week. The Lions have allowed an average of 287 passing yards to opposing quarterbacks this season. It looks like Mahomes is going to throw for another 300 yards and three touchdowns.

Cardinals Cannot Stop Tight Ends

The Arizona Cardinals defense cannot cover the tight end position. For three straight weeks, they have allowed an opposing tight end to score 21-plus fantasy points. In Week 4 the Cardinals are playing the Seattle Seahawks, setting the stage for tight end Will Dissly. He is priced up just $200 more since last week at $3,600. He will be a great cheap tight end to target considering he has three touchdown receptions in the last two weeks on 12 targets.

Time to Run All Over the Dolphins

Need a running back play? Try whoever is playing the Miami Dolphins that week. Not only was Ezekiel Elliott at $8,900 and 50 percent ownership able to produce, but backup running back Tony Pollard got in on the action. For Week 4, the Miami Dolphins will be taking on the Los Angeles Chargers. This sets up nicely for Austin Ekeler who has been priced up to $8,000 after three weeks of severe underpricing. Ekeler is still going to be a great option in cash games though and will be continued to be heavily rostered. He was at 40.5 percent ownership in the DFS Week 3 NFL MASSIVE $50 DOUBLE UP contest.

Danny Dimes

Kyle Allen > Cam Newton

Allen spoiled any DFS player that played him in Week 3. He was just too great of value at a mediocre $4,000 salary. Allen was heavily rostered with 9.7 percent ownership in the NFL $500K SLANT, and 28.4% ownership in the NFL MASSIVE $50 DOUBLE UP. The price point on his salary was the main drive of his ownership; however, going into Week 4 with a matchup against the Texans at $5,200 it might be wise to go right back to Kyle Allen. The Texans have allowed two of the three quarterbacks they have faced two passing touchdowns and at least 300 yards passing.

Kyler Murray Uses His Legs

Kyler Murray only had six rushing attempts for 17 yards through the first two weeks of the season. In Week 3, the script changed and Murray rushed eight times for 69 yards. He also had two passing touchdowns to go with 173 passing yards. People were definitely high on Murray as he garnered a 15 percent ownership in the DFS Week 3 NFL MASSIVE $50 DOUBLE UP. As a result of his rushing upside combined with the fact that he is throwing 40 times per game, Murray has a great floor in cash but still has that potential for a nice ceiling game.

Russell Wilson Continues to Be Overlooked

Seems like there are just not enough people playing Russell Wilson in DraftKings. He was $6,300 in Week 3, scored 44.34 fantasy points, and had just a 1.6 percent ownership in the NFL $500K SLANT GPP contest. Both of his primary receivers Tyler Lockett and DK Metcalf both were under four percent owned. Also, with the Cardinals coming up next week the folks at DraftKings have been nice enough to lower Wilson to $6,100, and move his two primary receivers up just $100 each. People were off Wilson due to the fact that he just had 20 passing attempts Week 1, but those attempts have increased by 15 over the past two weeks.

Dalvin Cook Continues to Smash

Dalvin Cook was in an obvious great matchup against the Oakland Raiders and yet his ownership was at a mere 32.8 percent in the DFS Week 3 NFL MASSIVE $50 DOUBLE UP. Maybe more than 66 percent of people hate winning. He was even lower owned in the NFL $500K SLANT at 21.3 percent. With the Vikings taking on the Bears in Week 4, I am sure that some people will be off Cook making him an even better target in DFS across all formats. As a result, his price has finally reached over $8K at $8,300. You should still play him, that is if you like money.

Marlon Mack – Three Down Back

Mack rushed 16 times for 74 yards with a touchdown and brought in two of three targets for 14 yards in Week 4. Mack has now seen three straight games with at least 18 touches. Running back Nyheim Hines has seen just as many targets as Mack in the last two weeks. This is great for Mack moving forward especially as he takes on the Raiders. Indianapolis has the fifth-highest run play rate in the NFL through the first three weeks. The Raiders defense played well against the run at home, but in Week 3 on the road, they allowed 211 rushing yards. Oakland was the third-worst run defense in 2018. As a result, Mack in DraftKings has been priced up to above $6K for the first time at $6,100.

Were We Not High Enough On Mark Ingram?

In the highest projected total game of the week, Ingram should have be more heavily owned. One would think that the running back on one of the most explosive offenses in the league would be highly rostered. Well, it did not pan out that way. In the DFS Week 3 NFL $500K SLANT contest, Mark Ingram had just 3.7 percent ownership. He scored three touchdowns and rushed for over 100 yards. Now it must have been the projected game script that scared players away from Ingram. Players must have assumed the Ravens would be from behind, but the matchup was still good. The Chiefs defense gave up 99 yards rushing just last week to Josh Jacobs. The Chiefs are allowing a league-high 6.2 yards per rushing attempt. Kerryon Johnson in Week 4, might be an interesting play as the Chiefs take on the Lions.

All that considered Ingram still had four targets and four receptions in the passing game, along with the majority of work in the red zone. His price has gone up to $6,600 from $5,700 but the Ravens are back at home in Week 4. The Browns are allowing over 100 rushing yards per game so far through the first three weeks.

NFL DFS Week 2 is almost complete. Let’s take a look at the biggest takeaways from all of Sunday’s Week 2 DFS action. I have compiled 12 major observations from the games played on Sunday. We also look ahead to Week 3.

Lamar Jackson…Does It With His Legs

First of all, you need to play Lamar Jackson ($6,700) in DFS. For the reason that DraftKings only increased his price to $7,000 for Week 3. With the upside he has shown as a passer combined with the floor as a rusher, he is going to be worth paying up for consistently. Jackson rushed for 120 yards and threw for 272 yards with two touchdowns in Week 2. In Week 3 the Ravens match up against the Chiefs. In terms of his weapons, there were concerns of target market share, but it seems like it is going to be consistent with Mark Andrews ($3,800) and Marquise Brown ($5,000). Andrews had nine targets and Brown had 13 targets. As a result, no other Raven had more than three.

People continue to sleep on Jackson as well. Hence, for ownership, he was less than 11% owned in both the NFL MASSIVE $50 DOUBLE UP and NFL $500K SLANT contests on DraftKings. Andrews was less than 9% owned in each contest and Brown was less than 4% owned. For Week 3, Andrews’ price is up to $4,600 and Brown’s is up to $5,900.

Arizona Cardinals Receivers Continue To Be Value Plays

Seems like the game flow for the Cardinals is going to be the same every week. They fall behind early and then completely just air the ball out in the second half. Both Larry Fitzgerald ($4,600) and Christian Kirk ($4,500), both went over 100 yards receiving. But for the second week in a row, there were at least three wide receivers on the Cardinals to notch at least seven targets. The Cardinals will continue to be underutilized as users are unsure which to play, but in reality, the receivers have nice floors. Keep in mind Kyler Murray attempted 54 passes (14 more than last week despite that being an overtime game).

Certainly, this is a passing game to buy against the Panthers in Week 3. For Week 3, Murray is at $5,800, along with Fitzgerald at $5,100 and Kirk at $5,000. In the DFS Week 2 NFL, $500K SLANT contest Fitzgerald was under 7% owned and Kirk was under 5%. In the NFL MASSIVE, $50 DOUBLE UP Kirk was less than 2% owned and Fitzgerald less than 6% owned.

The Gold Of Running Backs Resides In San Francisco

Three San Francisco running backs scored 14 or more fantasy points in DFS Week 2. Raheem Mostert, Jeff Wilson, and Matt Breida all were productive against the Bengals. Mostert led the team in carries (13) and receiving production with three receptions for 68 yards and a touchdown. But it was Breida dominating on the ground with 121 rushing yards. This is going to be a tough backfield to dissect from a week to week. In the NFL $500K SLANT contest Breida had 7.4% ownership and Mostert was at 0.2% ownership

So you need to play running backs that face the Bengals. Up next is the Buffalo Bills. Also, Deebo Samuel is someone that is beginning to emerge as the primary receiver for Jimmy Garoppolo. Look for him to be a value in Week 3 at $4,500.

The Tyler Boyd and John Ross Show In The Jungle

For DFS purposes in fantasy football, we are always looking for consolidated target shares. Two weeks into the season and Andy Dalton ($5,400) is showing exactly who he wants to throw the ball to. In Week 2, both Ross and Boyd went over 100 yards and had at least eight targets for the second straight week. This Bengals offense continues to be extremely pass-happy, creating a ton of opportunities for fantasy points for not only the Bengals but the teams that they face. Dalton was owned in just 2.2% of lineups in the DFS Week 2 NFL MASSIVE $50 DOUBLE UP contest. Boyd was at 8.2% and Ross at 5.6%. Ross saw higher ownership at 7.7% in the NFL $500K SLANT while Boyd saw lower ownership at 5.7%. Next week against the Bills, Josh Allen should have a field day.

Josh Allen Is Great For Fantasy DFS Purposes

The stigma around Josh Allen is that he is not a good quarterback. He was $5,300 in DFS Week 2. He threw for over 250 passing yards, but again added in his rushing element with seven carries for 21 yards and a touchdown. Also no turnovers! Frank Gore ($3,500) dominated the carries and will most likely do so again if Devin Singletary ($4,200) is to miss Week 3. He left in Week 2 with a hamstring injury.

The Bills should be targeted heavily in Week 3 as the Bengals come to town. Allen was an extremely popular play in DFS Week 2. In the NFL $500K SLANT he was at 12.5% ownership and in the NFL MASSIVE $50 DOUBLE UP Allen was at 31.2%. Allen’s salary for Week increased to $5,900, still making him a very enticing option as a cash quarterback.

All Austin Ekeler, All the Time

We thought that with the absence of Hunter Henry we would see more work from Ekeler ($6,100) and Keenan Allen ($7,600). That is exactly what happened, with Allen getting 15 targets and Ekeler getting 23 total touches. He out-touched Justin Jackson ($4,400) 23 to eight. In the NFL $500K SLANT Ekeler was 38.3% owned and in the NFL MASSIVE $50 DOUBLE UP he was at 65%. Ekeler will not continue to be priced under 7K, however; with the release of the DraftKings prices for Week 3, Ekeler is priced at $7,100.

Patriots Take Care of Business

Well if Week 2 is any indicator, it looks like Antonio Brown ($7,000) to the Patriots may end up working out mighty fine. The Patriots DST was also great. In the DFS Week 2 NFL $500K SLANT they were at 16.4% ownership and at 14.2% ownership in the NFL MASSIVE $50 DOUBLE UP. If not for the Patriots DST ($3,700) stealing the day (35 PPR points) Brown’s work was utterly impressive and would have been the main storyline. Eight targets turned into four receptions for 56 yards and a touchdown. This offense looks downright scary, making Tom Brady an option every week as a solid play in cash formats against weaker opponents.

Next week the Jets visit New England. Sony Michel ($6,200) put doubts to rest, dominating the carry total with 21 carries. If the game flow predicts the Patriots to win big, Michel needs to be targeted in GPPs. Again, next week against the Jets looks like a nice spot. Michel was owned in just 3.6% in the NFL MASSIVE $50 DOUBLE UP, and just 6.1% in the NFL $500K SLANT. His price went DOWN $200 in Week 3 to $6,000.

Patrick Mahomes – Second Quarter Takeover

If I told you Patrick Mahomes ($7,500) and the Chiefs were shut out for three quarters you’d probably been impressed with the Raiders. Not quite. Mahomes threw four touchdowns alone in the second quarter in DFS Week 2. Absolutely insane. What’s more surprising was the receiving leader in DeMarcus Robinson ($3,500) who scored 35 fantasy points. To no one’s surprise, he was virtually not owned anywhere, as players were favoring Sammy Watkins ($7,200) and even Mecole Hardman ($4,800). The trend here is that every week one Chiefs player is going to blow up.

Mahomes, like Lamar Jackson, should be continued to utilized in lineups across all formats, and you can virtually stack him with anyone that fits within the realm of your salaries. Mahomes’ salary for Week 3 only increased by $100 as he takes on the Ravens at home. Baltimore just allowed Kyler Murray to throw for over 300 yards. Travis Kelce’s salary also went down to $7,100 from $7,300 in Week 2.

Dalvin Cook Continues to Ball Out

In Week 1 the Vikings led the entire game and Dalvin Cook ($6,200) absolutely smashed the fantasy scoring. He then followed up his Week 1 performance with an even better outing in DFS Week 2. He totaled 23 touches that combined for 181 yards and a touchdown. Cook is the ultimate three-down back right now and needs to be rostered because of the absurd amount of touches that he is receiving. With the Oakland Raiders as his next opponent he can be a lock for you in your cash lineups. For GPPs especially, it is always worth paying up for these high-priced running backs in perceived tough matchups. In the DFS Week 2 NFL $500K SLANT contest Cook was just 7% owned and in the NFL MASSIVE $50 DOUBLE UP he was just at 5.8% owned. For Week 3 Cook is priced at up $7,800.

Aaron Jones’ Breakout Game

Jones had 23 carries and six receptions against the absolute stout Minnesota Vikings defense. He totaled 27 touches, versus the 12 touches that Jamaal Williams received. He goes against the Broncos in Week 3. His salary increased to just $6,100, up from $5,500 from Week 2.

Leonard Fournette – All The Touches

In the first two weeks of the season, Fournette has seen 36 of the 37 touches at the running back position for the Jacksonville Jaguars. He led the team in carries (15) and was second in targets (six). He also had six targets in Week 1. Fournette is not on the main slate in Week 3 with the Titans and Jaguars, playing on Thursday night. That being said, the Titans have historically owned the Jaguars and Fournette. He has never rushed for more than 69 yards in three career games against the Titans.

Raiders Chalk Hits…For the Most Part

In the NFL MASSIVE $50 DOUBLE UP, the Raiders’ skill players were massive chalk and they delivered for the most part. Tyrell Williams, at $4,400, scored 15.6 points and was 70.7% owned. Darren Waller scored 12.3 fantasy points at $3,300 was 55.6% owned. Running back Josh Jacobs was 51.1% owned. Out of the three Jacobs is the one that delivered the least scoring with just 9.9 fantasy points because he had zero targets in the passing game. If a running back is not involved in the passing game, he is not a viable option in cash.

NFL Week 1 DFS is almost in the books folks. With two games remaining on Monday night while we wait let’s take a look at the biggest takeaways from all of Sunday’s Week 1 DFS action. I have compiled 12 major takeaways from the games played on Sunday for our version of the Win Daily Dozen!

Lamar Jackson…MVP?

The sophomore passer looked absolutely insane in his season debut finishing with five touchdowns and 324 passing yards in a 59-10 rout of the tanking Miami Dolphins. And he was owned in just 5% of lineups in the $500K SLANT GPP Contest, and 5.7% of lineups in the DFS Week 1 DraftKings NFL GIANT $50 DOUBLE UP at $6,000. For Week 2, he is priced up to $6,700 and will most certainly be chalk. But you should continue to use him moving forward. Especially with his upcoming schedule featuring matchups against the Cardinals, Chiefs, Browns, and Steelers. Just lock Jackson cash games because his floor is so high with his rushing upside.

Worth noting no running back received any targets in the passing game. Also, Gus Edwards led the backfield in carries with 17 versus Mark Ingram’s 14. So Mark Ingram might be heavily owned especially next Week in cash, but with no involvement in the passing game could make him more of a fade even against the porous Cardinals run defense. Ingram was 11.5% owned in the $500K SLANT GPP Contest, and 8.2% in the NFL Week 1 DFS GIANT $50 DOUBLE UP. These will increase in Week 2.

Tight end Mark Andrews at $3,000 appears to be the major contributor from the Ravens passing game leading the team in targets (8) and accumulating eight receptions for 108 yards and a touchdown. Marquise Brown made some big plays in the passing game but buyer beware: He played just 14 snaps (18.2%) in Week 1. Brown was just .3% owned $500K SLANT GPP Contest. Seth Roberts led the team in snaps at the receiver position (52). Andrews should continue to be a value at $3,800 in Week 2. Andrews was played in just 2.9% in the $500K SLANT GPP Contest.

John Ross – Touchdown Machine

In 2018, John Ross had 21 receptions and seven of them were touchdowns. That’s an absurd touchdown rate of 66% that is almost unrepeatable. In Week 1 of the 2019 season, Ross continued to prove that he has a nose for the end zone by not only scoring two more touchdowns but adding 158 receiving yards on seven receptions on 12 targets. Ross was the biggest beneficiary of A.J. Green’s absence in Week 1. Tyler Boyd also received 11 targets and definitely emerged as Andy Dalton’s safety net. If an owner in a yearly league is sour on Boyd after eight receptions for 60 yards go trade for Boyd surrounding the Ross hype.

Pete Carroll Loves Chris Carson

So it looks like coach Pete finally decided to tell the truth. He told us he wanted to run the ball and that he wanted to get Chris Carson involved more in the passing game. Carson was chalky in the $500K SLANT GPP Contest at 31.6% ownership and in the NFL Week 1 DFS GIANT $50 DOUBLE UP his ownership was at 59.3% at his $5,700 salary price. He delivered on Sunday. Carson dominated the snaps (77.4%), led the team in receptions (6), rushing attempts (15), and rushing yards (46). That usage in the passing game is huge for Carson because his yards/attempt was 3.1 was pitiful. Especially as it was heavily inflated by a large run in the fourth quarter.

The Seahawks had only 20 pass attempts versus 21 rushing attempts. Their 49 total offensive plays were the second-fewest run on Sunday tied with the Vikings. Slow-paced offenses do not result in a lot of fantasy scoring so Seahawks players might not be great values moving forward and may be games you want to avoid stacking with. The matchup with the Steelers run defense could be a potential fade for Carson with his price up to $6,400.

Jerry Jones Just Pay Dak!

This is the season for contract extensions in NFL especially if you are player in Dallas Texas. The Cowboys’ quarterback put up monster numbers in the season-debut throwing for four touchdowns, 405 passing yards, for a perfect quarterback rating. Dak Prescott was a player I used in cash games and I was alone here. He was just played in 1.8% of lineups in the NFL Week 1 DFS GIANT $50 DOUBLE UP. He was actually a more popular tournament play at 4.5% ownership in the $500K SLANT GPP Contest.

Dak will be another player to target again in cash games for Week 2 as the Cowboys take on the Redskins whom popular cash quarterback in Week 1 Carson Wentz put up 28 fantasy points against Washington. An interesting tidbit about Wentz is he was the quarterback chalk in the NFL Week 1 DFS GIANT $50 DOUBLE UP at 35.7% ownership. However, despite the great matchup he was just owned in 9.1% in the $500K SLANT GPP Contest. What this tells me is there may be an edge to playing the chalk “cash quarterback” into your single entry GPPs. For Week 2, my money is on Jared Goff at $5,900. Worth noting that the imploding Jameis Winston was at 25.1% ownership in the NFL Week 1 DFS GIANT $50 DOUBLE UP.

John “Smokey” Brown

One of the cheaper wide receivers on the slate, Brown came up big with 10 targets, seven receptions, and 123 receiving yards along with a touchdown. He accumulated 133 air yards and was targeted on 27% of Josh Allen’s passing attempts. Brown was at 2.2% in the NFL Week 1 DFS GIANT $50 DOUBLE UP and 5.8% in the $500K SLANT GPP Contest.

And with the Giants the next opponent for the Bills, Brown should eat next week with a cheap price on DraftKings at $5,200. The Giants just gave up 100 plus receiving yards to both Michael Gallup and Amari Cooper and over 180 air yards last week. Brown led all receivers in snaps (85%) and targets (10). With the chalk on Brown and Cole Beasley in cash games for sure, Zay Jones ($3,500) becomes the GPP target to stack with Josh Allen. Speaking of Allen despite turning the ball over four times, he still scored 17+ fantasy points.

Le’Veon Bell is Cash Viable

Ty Montgomery was a smoke screen. Bell played in 100% of the offensive snaps for the Jets; exactly what you want from a running back in cash lineups: All of the touches. His totaled 23 touches out of the 66 plays that the Jets offense ran in Week 1. That’s 35%. In comparison that’s on par with guys like Christian McCaffery, who registered 45%, and more than Saquon Barkley, who registered just 23%. Bell was played in just 11.7% of the $500K SLANT GPP Contest, and even less in NFL Week 1 DFS GIANT $50 DOUBLE UP where he was 5.2% owned.

Speaking of Christian McCaffrey

Dude needs to be in your cash lineup every single week that he is on the main slate. As referenced above he registered 45% of the offensive’s total touches in Week 1. In yet in the NFL GIANT $50 DOUBLE UP, he was rostered in just 30% of lineups. 70% of people hate winning I guess.

Sammy Watkins In, Tyreek Hill Out

Welp, Tyreek Hill looks to be on the shelf for about a month at least, pushing Sammy Watkins up the depth chart. Watkins was owned in just 7% of lineups. He was priced at $5,000 and was in the winning lineup on DraftKings NFL $500K SLANT GPP Contest. Not so sure he continues to be a value, though, as we have seen this before with Watkins. People will buy into the narrative that he should see more looks from Patrick Mahomes, but having Hill on the field opens up a ton of space for his other receivers. The real interest here is the rookie, Mecole Hardman. He is priced at $4,800 and has great value heading into Week 2 when the Chiefs taking on the Oakland Raiders.

Melvin Gordon Who?

Another running back that found himself in a starter role on Sunday was Austin Ekeler. He was 16.65% owned in NFL $500K SLANT GPP contest, and astonishingly was owned less in cash games at just 7.8% ownership in the NFL GIANT $50 DOUBLE UP. The main takeaway here is the field was scared off because the report said that the touches would be split between Ekeler and Justin Jackson. When in reality it was 75-25% split between the two in snaps, 12-6 in rushing attempts, and 7-3 in targets. This was in a game where the game script had the Chargers playing with the lead the majority of the time.

That means the value will continue to be there with Ekeler regardless of game flow. If they were losing, for example, Ekeler would have probably been featured heavily in the passing game. DraftKings pricing also fails to realize this that because for Week 2 he is priced at $6,100. That is just up to $600 from Week 1.

DeSean Jackson #RevengeGame

Jackson is the king of the #revengame narrative. I was extremely high on Jackson and stacking him with Wentz in my preview article of the Week 1 NFL slate. At $4,800 he was a great play in GPPs and the field was not high on him. He was rostered in just 6.1% of lineups and Carson Wentz was just rostered in 9.1% of lineups. This was in the NFL $500K SLANT GPP Contest. However, Jackson tends to do this; start out on fire and then sizzle out. He is not on the main slate in Week 2. Though he is always known as being a deep threat he did have eight receptions on 10 targets.

Dalvin Cook Delivers As Chalk RB

At $6,100, I predicted Dalvin Cook to smash in Week 1 and smash he did. Everybody was high on Cook has he was 79% owned in the NFL GIANT $50 DOUBLE UP. In the $500K SLANT GPP Contest he was at 40.9%. Keep in mind that these chalky running backs in cash games still garner ownership in the GPPs. Cook should be continued to be used as the main running back in Week 2 even at $7,200. Evan Engram: Tight End Lock

The two top teams in the $500K SLANT GPP Contest both rostered Evan Engram at 12.4% ownership at $4,800. This should not be a surprise to most. Engram is one of the only pass-catching weapons that Eli Manning can really use. In cash games, Engram was used even more at 23.1%. Engram was not generating much buzz before Week 1, but he’s the example of who you should be looking for at tight end. Can the tight end garner a large target share? That is what you need to be looking for. In Week 2, Engram is at just $5,200, $400 more than last week.

We had a full 15-game slate of baseball on Saturday July 6. Some players outperformed their expected production with excellent hitting and other marquee players struggled. All points and price values are based off Draftkings.

Winners-

Anthony Santander ($3,800)

Anthony Santander went 3-for-4 with a pair of RBI and a run scored against the Toronto Blue Jays last night. Even though he failed to get an extra base hit during the game, he was slapping the baseball around and being productive. He was a key factor in the Orioles picking up the win.

Santander’s Outlook

Santander has been doing well offensively in the past 30 games he’s appeared in: ..284 average with four home runs and 15 RBI with .345 OBP. The Orioles wrap up the first half of their season this afternoon with Trent Thorton and the Blue Jays. Thorton does not pose that lofty of a challenge, so get Santander in your lineup if you are looking for an inexpensive outfielder.

Robbie Ray ($7,900)

Ray looked sharp against the Colorado Rockies last night, going six strong innings and allowing one run on two hits and eight strikeouts. The only issue for Ray was the free passes as he allowed five walks. Even with his lack of control with the baseball, lock in Ray in his next start as he still has the ability to provide value.

Ray’s Outlook

Ray has been giving up a large amount of runs lately, posting a 4.50 ERA in his previous seven starts. However, four of those were classified as quality starts. The one big issue is his control with Ray averages around four-and-a-half walks per nine innings. Once he figures out how to control his pitches a bit more, Ray will be a top-of-the-rotation starter. Ray’s next start will be against either the Cardinals or Rangers depending on the way the DBacks set their rotation for the second half of the season.

Losers

Jake Arrieta ($6,800)

Jake Arrieta did not pitch well against the division-rival New York Mets last night. He went just 4.1 innings and allowed six runs (five earned) on 11 hits with four strikeouts in a losing effort. The Mets are not the best offensive team in the league and were able to affect Arrieta by hitting the baseball all over Citi Field.

Arrieta’s Outlook

Arrieta has looked awful lately for the Phillies, posting a 6.63 ERA in his past seven outings with a WHIP north of 1.7 in that span. The All-Star break couldn’t come any sooner for him. He should be avoided until he could put a few solid starts in a row together.

Gary Sanchez ($4,400)

Gary Sanchez was unable to put a single ball in play against the Tampa Bay Rays yesterday, going 0-for-4 with every at-bat ending in strike three. Sanchez is taking pitches inside the zone and swinging at ones outside and looks like the All-Star break will do him wonders. He probably will be out of today’s lineup going into the All-Star break but if he is available, fade him.

Sanchez’s Outlook

Gary Sanchez is lost at the plate right now. In his last week of games, he is batting .071 with 11 strikeouts. His hitting ability is drastically improved from the 2018 campaign, but he has hit a wall and the All-Star break could do him some good with an extended rest. The Yankees finish off their four-game set with the Rays this afternoon.

Injury Update

The Minnesota Twins placed CJ. Cron on the 10-day IL with a thumb injury.

Madison Bumgarner of the San Francisco Giants exited his start early after being struck with a line drive.
