Welcome to the Tuesday edition of MLB DFS: Aces and Bases.  Today we have a nice sized 11 game main slate on Fanduel.  Due to the rainouts in Chicago and Colorado yesterday, those games were left off of today’s Fanduel main slate.

We have ourselves a Jacob Degrom today!  Outside of Degrom there are some other solid options that can be utilized today.  There are also some intriguing hitting spots.

With that being said, let’s dig in to today’s slates!

MLB DFS: The Aces

Jacob Degrom ($12.5k) vs. St. Louis Cardinals – There’s really not much I can say about Degrom that hasn’t already been said.  He’s the top pitcher in the league.  Anytime he’s on the mound he should be included in your lineup, or at the very least, be considered for your lineup.  On the season he’s k’ing more than 15 per 9, has a ridiculous 1.39 xfip, a 23% swinging strike %, and 59 k’s through 35 innings of work.  He’s a generational pitcher.  Cardinals have a near 25% k rate vs. righties this year.  He should be in your lineup.

If you are making the decision to fade Degrom today, here are some other options I like.

Nick Pivetta ($8.3k) vs. Detriot  Tigers – On Sunday we attacked the Tigers with Corey Kluber.  He returned the favor with 10 k’s and 8 innings of shutout ball.  Do I think we get a similar outing today from Pivetta?  Eh, I doubt it.  But I do like his chances of having a strong outing.  The Tigers are k’ing at a 29% clip vs. righties to go along with a low OPS and wOBA.

Pivetta’s pitch makeup consists of mostly fastballs and curveballs. Combined, it’s about 75% of the time.  Focusing on his curveball, it’s a pitch that the Tigers struggle with.  Outside of Jonathan Schoop and Akil Baddoo there isn’t a batter that has an ISO great than .115 against this pitch.  Really like the matchup here for Pivetta.

Huascar Ynoa ($8k) vs. Washington Nationals – Ynoa is someone who has gone a little under the radar this season.  Outside of one outing vs. the Cubs, he’s been really good.  He has a 2.64 xfip for the year through 27 IP, which is one of the lower marks for any pitcher going today.

Ynoa mostly relies on his fastball and slider.  The slider is a pitch that the Nationals struggle with.  All of them whiff at a rate greater than 27%.  This is a high upside spot for Ynoa tonight.  No reason to believe he can’t have a ceiling game tonight.  He faced this team at the start of the season and threw 5 innings and k’ing 5 while only allowing 3 base runners.  Like the spot here.

J.A. Happ ($7.9k) vs. Texas Rangers is another intriguing spot.  Rangers are very attackable vs. lefties.  With some of the pitchers out there tonight, I just don’t think the need is to go here.  Especially with Ynoa at a very similar price point.

MLB DFS: The Bats

Atlanta Braves vs. Joe Ross – Outside of one outing vs. the Cardinals, Ross has been pretty decent this year.  He has 2 QS and 1 where he got pulled just before he could get it.  I still like my chances here, and here’s why.  Ross is a predominantly sinker ball pitching.  Throwing it 37% of the time to lefties and 40% to righties.  Braves batters all have a lot of experience against this pitch.  Ronald Acuna ($4.2k) – .274 ISO, Freddie Freeman ($4k) – .333 ISO, Marcell Ozuna ($3.2k) – .180 ISO, Ozzie Albies ($3.3k)– .237 ISO, Dansby Swanson ($2.5k) – .207 ISO.  All 5 of these guys have had great success.  Due to pricing, if going with this stack I’m going to go w/ 2-5.

Oakland Athletics vs. Anthony Kay – Kay is making his second start today.  His first start, it did not go well.  He only lasted three and a third innings after giving up 4 earned runs.  The Athletics have done really well this season vs. lefties.  Their K rate vs. lefties is middle of the pack at 24%, but they have a .766 OPS to go along with a .332 wOBA.

The A’s will throw out a bunch of righties today.  Guys like Mark Canha ($3.3k)Ramon Laureano ($3.5k), and Matt Chapman ($3k) should all feast tonight.  Look for another short outing out of Kay tonight.

Philadelphia Phillies vs. Eric Lauer – The box score shows that Lauer pitched well in his first outing vs. the Dodgers.  The advanced metrics tell a different story.  His xFIP for the game was 4.88 and he had a BABIP of .267.  46.7% of the contact he gave up was hard and he had a low swinging strike rate of 8.2%.  These are all red flags that mean he didn’t pitch nearly as well as his final line showed.

Lauer in his career has actually been a reverse splitsy pitcher who’s done better against righties than lefties.  That said, the Phillies have a bunch of guys they’ll throw out tonight that smash lefties.  I’m assuming Harper sits tonight so 1-4 should look like Andrew McCutchen ($3.3k)Rhys Hoskins ($3.9k)Alec Bohm ($2.6k), and JT Realmuto ($3.4k).  This is going to be a really tough start for Lauer and I hope the regression from his first start comes tonight.

MLB DFS: The Wrap Up

This is shaping up to be a nice slate.  Because of the Rockies game being taken off of the slate, we don’t have to worry about Coors.  Degrom should carry heavy ownership, while bats may be more spread out.  There are some weather hot spots in Philly, Washington, and St Louis so you’ll want to keep an eye on those games.

Good luck and hope to see you in the green tonight!

This week’s Collector’s Corner takes an early look at some possible 2021 breakouts in the AL – and the trading cards to collect from this bunch.

By now, everyone knows to collect Luis Robert trading cards, but there’s a huge crop of baseball prospects whose trading cards could see a huge bump in 2021 and beyond if they have breakout seasons. Here are nine such players in the AL you should be stocking in your collection.

NOTE: I’m using my Cash/GPP/Punt system again since it translates well to the DFS/trading card investment comparison.

Breakout Trading Cards – Cash

Wander Franco, TB SS

I shouldn’t have to say much about Franco – who’s now the top prospect in baseball – but since he hasn’t played since 2019, he’s flying a bit under the radar.

Franco does everything well and is projected for about 90 games at the major league level in 2021 – a call-up that will immediately cause a bump in his rookie trading cards. You can buy 2019 1st Bowman #BP100 PSA GEM MINT 10 rookies for $100-125 apiece, and parallels and autos – while expensive – remain excellent long-term investments. I’m happy to have a sharp 2020 Bowman Chrome Sapphire #BCP-1 (second year) in my collection, but I’m working on adding some of his rookies.

He’s not slated for a spot in the Rays lineup on day one of the 2021 season, but once he’s here he may be here to stay.

It’s his second year, but I love the look of this card. The Bowman Chrome Sapphire is one of my favorite products.

Ryan Mountcastle, BAL OF

Mountcastle had an auspicious 2020 debut for the Birds, and he did an excellent radio interview where he talks about the transition to the majors and how he fared in his rookie season (“I held my own”). The multi-positional fielder – who played mostly outfield for Baltimore – posted a solid .333/.386/.492 slash line with five homers and a 141 wRC+ in 35 games.

It’s a small smaple, for sure, but I love guys who can play all over the diamond and remain entrenched in the everyday lineup, and Mountcastle is one of those guys. THE BAT, ZIPS and Steamer projections for 2021 all have him hitting over 20 homers with a wRC+ north of 100.

You can pick up graded 2015 rookies for a reasonable price, and he’s a hitter who’ll be smack dab in the middle of a potent group of young hitters, so his 2021 production could well exceed expectations.

Bobby Dalbec, BOS 1B/3B

This guy can mash. He hit eight homers in just 92 ABs for the Red Sox in his 2020 debut, and as a corner infielder he should consistently find a way into the Boston lineup. The 42.4% K rate is a bit disconcerting, but as far as raw power metrics goes, his .338 ISO stands out as an obscene number that points to 40+ HR upside for the 2016 draft pick.

2021 projections from the aforementioned sources are unanimous in assuming 25+ HRs for the upcoming season, and his path to 30+ is only clouded by how often he can make things happen and avoid a prolonged slump at the dish.

A natural third baseman, his 2016 Bowman Chrome Draft rookie trading cards are still dirt cheap, and he’s a solid investment in a huge market city – even if he’s a guy who strikes out almost 200 times in a 15-game season.

This PSA 10 Dalbec in a rare blue refractor parallel auto can be had for less than $1K — a price that could double or triple in value if he has a monster season in Boston.

Breakout Trading Cards – GPP

Andrew Vaughn, CWS 1B

With Robert off the list and getting regular MLB at-bats, Vaughn is now the No. 1 prospect in the White Sox system, and while he’s not expected to start the 2021 season in the majors, he’s just 22 years old slated for a mid-season arrival.

There’s not a clear path to regular playing time in the field just yet, but Vaughn could become the White Sox DH for a large chunk of the 2021 season, which could be a difficult adjustment for someone used to playing the field.

Still – he was so good in big league campo after he was drafted in 2019 that he was almost brought up to the majors in 2020. While his 2019 trading cards are pretty hot, there’s still plenty of room for growth. I really hate the 2019 Bowman design, but that’s his first Bowman card. I did manage to pull a couple of his 2020 Bowman Chrome Mega Box Mojo Refractors, but it’s important I cave and just grab some of his rookies.

My buddy Chris Gilmore over at Vintage Breaks owns this beautiful PSA 10 Vaughn rookie in the 2019 Bowman Sapphire Edition. He shows it off once in a while during his VB South breaks on YouTube.

Jo Adell, LAA OF

Adell didn’t find much success as a rookie outfielder for the Angels in 2020, but he’s still 21 years old and has the tools and talent to bounce back in his sophomore campaign.

He may start the 2021 season in the Triple-A, and there’s a few hard-hitting outfielders who could complicate his return to The Show – but all five-tool prospects are worth some additional development if it increases their confidence. Adell was clearly rushed into the bigs last year – probably because he’s a high-energy guy and they wanted him to play baseball instead of languishing in the pandemic-induced hiatus that may have stunted the growth of an untold number of MLB prospects.

As a result, his 2017 rookie trading cards – even PSA 10s – are very inexpensive for an organizational No. 1. He’s worth adding to your collection and seeing what happens in the coming season.

Sean Murphy, OAK C

Murphy has the offensive and defensive chops to be an All-Star major league catcher for a long time, and we’ve already seen a little of what he’s capable of at the big-league level.

A legitimately great defender at a premium position who looks a lot like a poor man’s Buster Posey when it comes to his pitch-framing and solid bat, Murphy’s 2020 debut was promising – with a .233/.364/.457 slash line, seven HRs and a 132 wRC+ in just 43 games. That stretch earned him 1.5 WAR and an everyday spot in the Athletics’ lineup.

His 2018 Bowman Chrome rookie trading cards are still a huge bargain, and you can pick up a PSA 9 MINT auto rookie for under $100.

Breakout Trading Cards – Punt

Nolan Jones, CLE 3B

Like Dalbec, Jones was drafted in 2016, and his rookie trading cards are also still very affordable. He’s also got immense raw power, as seen by the .213 ISO he posted in 2019 for the team’s Double-A affiliate. Unlike Dalbec, he hasn’t played since 2019 since he wasn’t called up to the bigs.

Jones is now the No. 1 prospect for Cleveland and may or may not get his shot in 2021 – but we’ve seen hitters like him arrive to fill a lineup gap and just never leave. There’s probably less long-term risk involved than Dalbec, but he may not provide immediate dividends.

Evan White, SEA 1B

Kyle Lewis made a huge splash in 2020 and Julio Rodriguez may be ready to arrive by late 2021 or early 2022, but White will be in the Mariners lineup on opening day. His 2017 Bowman Chrome rookie autos are selling (raw) for low prices and PSA 10s can be had in the $100-200 range.

White struggled at the dish as a rookie in 2020 (.176/.252/.346 slash with a 41.6% K rate and just eight dingers in 200+ ABs), but THE BAT and Steamer projections have him improving drastically in 2021; only ZIPS has him hitting fewer than 20 homers with an average under .230.

For $140, this could be a steal if White can make more contact and hit a few more homers in 2021.

Nick Solak, TEX 2B

Big Nick is slated to bate out of the No. 5 slot in the Rangers 2021 lineup, and while he’s on his third organization since being drafted by the Yankees in 2016, his 2020 Topps trading cards earned the RC logo and are very cheap, very good investments.

Solak had a great MLB debut in 2019, took a step back in 2020, and is poised for a big 2021. His rookies have him on the Yankees, so that may not hurt their ability to fetch big prices as much as say 2015 Bowman Draft Mike Yastrzemski rookies in Orioles gear. He’s not a great defender and isn’t going to be a guy who hits 30+ homers or steals 30 bases, but he’s got 20-15 upside and a solid enough bat to move the needle on his trading cards in the next couple of years.

Tenacious Strategy Session: Stacking in MLB DFS

If you are completely new to MLB DFS or just need a reminder, you ALWAYS stack two teams. This means you want four hitters from two different teams to fill out your lineup. The only way I would possibly not do this is on a very short slate (ex. two-game slate, four teams).

An example of a two-team stack would be one pitcher, four Astro bats, and four Braves bats.

Why do you want to stack in MLB DFS? Why would you not try and pick the best player from each team like with NFL or NBA?

The answers are because of all scoring correlates for hitters in baseball. If a hitter gets an RBI you also want the runner(s) on the base(s) who are going to score. For example, if the bases are loaded and your hitter gets a grand slam you get a ton of points for the four RBIs and the home run which is great! However, if you don’t have the three players on the bases that cross home plate during the grand slam you are missing out on three hits (or walks, depending on how the bases got loaded) and the three runs (that get hit in by the grand slam slugger). Not only are you missing out on these points, but it’s more likely than not your competition stacked this team and got the points you are missing out on. Therefore while you are moving up the rankings, you are still getting passed by the people who stacked making it near impossible to get first place.

MLB DFS is very momentum dependent. This means if a pitcher is getting lit up momentum builds as players round the bases and the offense smells blood. Every batter wants a piece of the pitching and running up the score is on the table. Also, once a team is winning significantly, the bullpen is no longer putting in their best arms in an attempt to get a win. The BP may even let an unproven arm come in the game who is still developing and take his lumps while working through a high-pressure situation. This is a dream situation if you stacked against him.

How do I know who to stack in MLB DFS?

This is what I do. I pick my pitcher first. If your pitcher fails, you will most likely not be cashing so that should be your main focus. Once you have your pitcher write down your top six teams. I personally write down the starting lineup for each of the six teams I prefer and go through each eight/nine (depending on DH) hitters in the order they are batting. I cross out any batter that has bad (not average) stats against the pitcher (depending on if the pitcher is right-handed or left-handed). I mainly look at ISO, WOBA, Weather and Home Runs. I will glance at BvP (Batter vs Pitcher) but it is not something I focus on too heavily unless there is a clear advantage that has a long track record.

Once you have the hitters you are considering from your top two teams see if you can fit them in a lineup with the pitcher you have selected. If one of your hitting combos in your second favorite team is not fitting then it does not work. You are going to need to move on to your next favorite team. Continue going through your preferred teams until you find a clean fit of the hitters you like. If you can’t fit your favorite team, that also means your competition won’t be able to either. Baseball is a high variance sport. Chalk in baseball tends to fail more than any other sport in my opinion. I hardly ever play chalk in baseball because of this.

What order of the batting lineup should I stack in MLB DFS?

Try and clump your batters together best you can in MLB DFS. If you can take the 1-4 hitters that’s great. 2-5 works, 3-6 works and so on. You can also skip a player you don’t like and do something like 1; 3-5, 2; 4-6. Do not stack a team by skipping too many batters for example 1,3,5,7. This does not tend to correlate well. You can even go the route of stacking 8,9,1,2. This will be lower owned because you are taking two guys from the back of the lineup however you are still getting batters that are hitting in order.

There will be times where you try and stray from stacking in GPP’s. This is a mistake. Your main focus should be picking your pitcher and stacking two teams in MLB DFS and not getting cute and cherry-picking from teams.

Below is my best example of stacking from last season. I chose my pitcher and stacked the Mets and the Indians.

The Road to Victory in Oakland

Here’s how I’d play my lineup. In fact, it’s the same lineup I’ll post at FanDuel.

10/2 FanDuel Showdown Lineup

MVP (2X)

Matt Olson, 1B, OAK, $8,500 Salary

Olson has a track record against Rays starter Charlie Morton ($16,800). The slugger first sacker has four hits in 12 career at-bats versus Morton, including a homer along with drawing a pair of walks. Olson also has the momentum of a September that saw him produce a .938 OPS with nine homers, 23 RBI and 18 runs scored. I’m all-in on a hitter with a 50.3% hard contact rate.

All-Star (1.5X)

Austin Meadows, OF, TB, $9,500 Salary

More effective on the road, Meadows had a .966 OPS with 20 of his 33 homers coming outside Tampa Bay. Meadows also has a 42.9% fly ball rate that should play well with the wind projected toward right field. That also bodes well considering Meadows sports a 45.1% pull rate. He can easily be an MVP, yet Olson and his track record with Morton gives Olson the edge.

Power and the Glory

Utility

Ramon Laureano, OF, OAK, $7,000 Salary

Play the home field advantage with Laureano, who has a .904 OPS in Oakland. I also like that Laureano will provide the threat of a stolen base (13). He’s come a long, long way from the slow start in March/April along with putting together a 25.1% line drive rate on top of a 40% hard contact rate.

Laureano’s 25.6% strikeout rate is an obvious concern when facing a whiff machine like Morton, but in a Showdown scenario, all I’m counting on is one swing to change the complexion of the game.

Utility

Avisail Garcia, OF, TB, $6,000 Salary

Like Laureano, I’ll gamble on the power-speed combo of Garcia, who added 10 steals to go along with 20 homers. Garcia has hit the A’s well this season, coming into tonight with a .368 batting average and .425 OBP. The .455 slugging percentage is a mild disappointment, yet the ability to get on base consistently helps the cause for DFSers.

Garcia is a not a consistent fly ball hitter (31.6%), yet did boost his line drive rate from 17.4% in 2018 to 22.3% this season.

Utility

Jesus Aguilar, 1B, Rays, $4,000 Salary

Call this a calculated risk. There’s little to suggest Aguilar to be highly-used, but scenarios like this call for the unexpected bat to rise up and deliver. This is where Aguilar, who has a .714 OPS and managed just five hits in September (although two were homers).

Aguilar isn’t going to be cheated when he makes contact, bringing a 41.7% hard contact rate and a 41.7% medium contact rate.

It always amazes me how quickly the MLB season flies by. It seems like one day you are studying for upcoming seasonal drafts and the next you are sitting here writing a Wild Card round article. This 10/1 MLB DFS piece will guide you through everything you need to know to succeed for the Tues-Wed slates. With Incendiary’s “Cost of Living” playing in the background, and a hopeful Dodgers future, let’s get this show on the road.

Pitching

The most important fact to consider when selecting postseason pitching is, they are all top starters. Especially in one game situations. All four pitchers on this slate are viable options, even if the starter for Oakland has not been officially named yet. But, if it is Sean Manaea like we all think, for his salary on DK he is just as much in the mix. On this 10/1 MLB DFS slate I would have no problem locking him in while I wait to see what develops.

Max Scherzervs. Milwaukee Brewers (Tuesday)

$11,000 FD / $9,400 DK / $12,600 DK-SD / $18,900 DK-SD-CP

This game could be a lot higher scoring than most believe. The Brewers are striking out 25.8 percent of the time versus RHPs this season while coming in 15th in MLB in wOBA. We do have several factors in play here for this game, the first being that Scherzer’s ERA has more than doubled in the second half. There was serious talk of possibly not having him start this game, but Dave Martinez decided Mad Max’s 1.50 ERA versus the Brew Crew with 10 strikeouts over six innings was enough to give him the nod.

The next big factor to look at is the Brewers themselves. The get a negative ballpark shift playing on the road in Washington despite Scherzer’s higher home ERA. Plus, let’s not forget the monster known as Christian Yelich is on hiatus due to injury. All numbers point to a low scoring game to be decided by the bullpens. On this 10/1 MLB DFS slate every starter is viable, especially the Scherz.

BrandonWoodruff vs. Washington Nationals (Tuesday)

$6,200 FD / $6,400 DK / $10,000 DK-SD / $15,500 DK-SD-CP

Much like Scherzer on this 10/1 MLB DFS slate Woodruff benefits from the same positive park shift. However, the Nationals are seventh in MLB in wOBA versus RHPs, and near the bottom of the league in strikeouts. This season Woody dominated the Nats in his only start, facing them back in May, striking out nine batters over six innings while only allowing one earned run. Keep in mind he is working his way back from injury and more than likely will only pitch a few innings.

Charlie Mortonvs. Oakland Athletics (Wednesday)

$9,500 FD / $8,600 DK

As much as I would love to see Oakland advance here the numbers are really telling me differently. Against the Athletics over two starts, Morton has a 0.68 ERA with 13 strikeouts over 13 1/3 innings. Much like tonight’s game this one is also going to come down to the bullpens. With the A’s batting .207 over the last seven days Morton is going to feast on them tomorrow night.

Hitting

So, here is the trick to selecting offense on this 10/1 MLB DFS slate, attack the bullpens. With top tier starters taking the mound often it’s that dicey bullpen who ends up surrendering runs. This means we need to look at their numbers. My favorite stat for this is second half bullpen ERA. By this point in the season most guys are wearing out, especially on teams that have found themselves in high leverage situations leading up to this point. Like most Wild Card teams. I expect a lot of pitching changes tonight, much more so than tomorrow night, so I would focus my offense on the Brewers-Nationals game.

Stack #1: Brewers versus RHPs

As mentioned, this is the game to stack on this two-game 10/1 MLB DFS slate. After locking in Manaea and Morton for tomorrow night you are left with a remaining player salary on DK of nearly $4,300. With the Nationals having one of the worst bullpens in MLB in the 2nd half, I prefer Milwaukee tonight.

Don’t let he BVP scare you versus Scherzer tonight. If he finds himself giving up a few runs, or in trouble, he will be pulled early.

Stack #2: Nationals versus RHPs

Brandon Woodruff as nasty as he is may not go deep into this game. His recent starts suggest maybe three innings. Unless of course they have been babying him and plan on letting him go full bore tonight. Either way, I still prefer the Nats offense tonight over both teams tomorrow night.

Stack #3: Rays versus LHPs

The numbers suggest the Wednesday games will be lower scoring. For the simple reason I see more innings coming out of Morton in this one, the Rays take precedent over the A’s. There will be more bullpen exposure here, pure and simple.

Stack #4: Athletics versus RHPs

With Charlie Morton having dominated the Athletics this season, and the Rays having one of the best bullpens in MLB, this really lowers the offensive production possibilities. This places Oakland at the bottom of the list for me.

DraftKings Showdown

Obviously, you are going to want both starting pitchers in all your lineups. The big decision is the Captain spot. I would find a cheap player that steadily produces fantasy points and reserve this spot for him. This allows you the spending power to pretty much have your way with bats. Here is a screenshot of two of my Showdown lineups for tonight as an example.

This one seems easy for me tonight. Scherzer, despite having some recent woes with earned runs allowed, still strikes out batters at an incredible rate. This one is over all the way.

Brandon Woodruff may not go deep into this one but will certainly achieve this over in a matter of three innings.

9/26 DFS Hitting Stacks ofthe Day

Cleveland Indians at DylanCease

With Jose Ramirez back, the Indians have another titanic bat in their lineup as they try to sneak into the playoffs via the Wild Card. Eliminated from securing their fourth straight AL Central title with Wednesday’s loss (coupled with a victory by the Minnesota Twins), the Indians have a Thursday night matchup that bodes well for the bats facing a hittable Dylan Cease (5.79 ERA). Expect Francisco Lindor to erase that poor showing last night and get some exposure to the 2-5 bats, along with Franmil Reyes and a dirt-cheap Mike Freeman ($3,200 DK, $2,500 FD) at the bottom of the order.

Oakland Athletics atSeattle Mariners

We’ve come to expect a lot from the A’s as September winds down, and this is a prime opportunity for the bats to come alive and pile on some runs on this 9/26 DFS slate. Mark Canha left the game early last night and Khris Davis is battling a stomach bug, but there are plenty of bats to go to in their stead, and while Felix Hernandez is a historically solid pitcher, he’s nearing the end of his career (6.51 ERA this season) and just isn’t the same old King Felix. The A’s also hit well on the road, with a .329 wOBA as a team. I like Matt Olson, Matt Chapman and Marcus Semien.

Houston Astros at JaimeBarria

The Astros plan on sitting Jose Altuve, Carlos Correa and George Springer, but that just means you can grab some value at the top of their lineup with Kyle Tucker and mix in some “next man up” types who’ve performed well in limited duty this season. They’re not my favorite stack for 9/26 DFS, but they’re certainly viable and a little cheaper to fit in without all the regulars.

9/26 DFS Hitting Stacks toConsider

Chicago Cubs at Joe Musgrove – The Cubs face ahittable pitcher who can hand out free passes and get lit up as easily as hecan rack up the Ks.

New York Mets vs. Jordan Yamamoto – Yamamoto isn’t a bad young pitcher, but he struggles with RHBs and the Mets have a bunch of really good ones.

9/26 DFS HittingCatcher

Wilson Ramos, NYM vs. MIA

DK ($3,600)  FD ($2600)

Unfortunately, the pickings are slim at catcher today, so I’ll be looking to Wilson Ramos and his power upside. The Mets regular catcher is slashing .286/.350/.415 this season and Yamamoto has trouble with right-handed bats (.322wOBA vs. RHBs, .250 wOBA vs. LHBs). Just make sure he’s in the lineup before you lock him in.

9/26 DFS Hitting FirstBaseman

Matt Olson, OAK at SEA

DK (4,600)  FD ($3,700)

My affinity for Matt Olson is well-known among my peers, and he’s deliveredfor me time and again in GPPs. This matchup is an interesting one, because Olsonhas a .293 ISO and 150 wRC+ against righties. Olson, who’s been hitting forpower this month with a .345 ISO, will likely face a couple of RHPs and has agood chance at going deep in this game.

9/26 DFS Hitting SecondBaseman

Aledmys Diaz, HOU at LAA

DK($4,100)   FD ($2,900)

With some Astros sitting, Diaz probably gets another start tonight and is carrying a decent slash line (.271/.349/.457) into the 9/26 contest. He has a 122 wRC+ against RHPs this season, is fairly priced on DK and is unbelievably cheap on FD. It looks like I may give him a shot in about half my lineups this evening.

9/26 DFS Hitting ThirdBaseman

Matt Chapman, OAK at SEA

(DK $4,100)  FD ($3,600)

Mr. Chapman homered last night, is very affordable on both sites, and is slightly better against RHPs (124 wRC+ vs. RHPs, 122 wRC+ vs. LHPs). While he had a relatively quiet September, I like the matchup for Chapman against King Felix here here — and there are not many 3B who stick out in this slate other than him, Alex Bregman (who’s available at SS on DK), and Yoan Moncada.

9/26 DFSHitting Shortstop

Alex Bregman, HOU at LAA

DK ($2,600)  FD ($2,000)

Some of the veteran Astros players will get spelled tonight, but Bregman is slated to stay in the lineup and is red hot at the plate (3-4, two 2B, RBI, R last night). He sports a robust 168 wRC+ and is slashing .298/.421/.595 triple-slash line with 119 runs scored, 40 homers, 110 RBI and five steals this season. The hard-hitting Bregman is a fine place to anchor your SS slot.

9/26 DFS HittingOutfielders

Kyle Tucker, HOU at LAA

DK($4,800)   FD ($2,900)

Tucker draws the leadoff spot for 9/26 DFS a night after launching a solo homer against the Mariners. With Jose Altuve getting the day off, he takes over a prime spot in the Astros lineup and has done ell with his chances so far: The 22-year-old rookie outfielder is hitting .304/.339/.571 with 11 runs scored, three HRs, 10 RBI and five SB in 59 plate appearances this season. The price on DK is fair, but on FD he’s just way too cheap.

Brandon Nimmo, NYM vs. MIA

DK ($3,900)   FD ($2,900)

I love Nimmo in the leadoff spot today for the Mets, who don’t havea lot to play for but still have an exciting group of young hitters. Nimmo hasa 133 wRC+ against RHPs in his career and will have plenty of run scoringopportunities here. He also has a 16.4 BB% facing RHPs in his career and a 19.7BB% this season against righties – a nice patience complement to his burgeoningpower.

Kyle Schwarber, CHC at PIT

DK ($3,800)   FD ($2,700)

While he’s not much of a contact/average hitter, Schwarber has been heating up at the plate (2-4 last night with a pair of singles on Wednesday) just in time for his team to be eliminated from the playoffs. Schwarber is hitting .248/.337/.527 with 37 homers, 91 RBI and 80 runs scored in 152 games overall in 2019, and he’s got a great matchup vs. RHP Joe Musgrove.

 9/26 DFS Additional StackOptions:

C: Wilson Contreras ($4,700 DK, $3,000 FD), Sean Murphy ($4,000DK, $2,900 FD)

1B: Anthony Rizzo ($4,900 DK, $3,900 FD), Pete Alonso ($5,000 DK,$4,000 FD)

2B: Ian Happ ($4,000 DK, $2,600 FD), Yolmer Sanchez ($2,700 DK) ($2,300FD)

3B: Yoan Moncada ($4,800 DK, $3,500 FD), David Fletcher ($3,900DK, $2,800 FD)

SS: Francisco Lindor ($4,600 DK, $4,200 FD), Jack Mayfield ($2,600 DK, $2,000 FD)

OF: Yordan Alvarez ($5,400 DK, $4,400 FD), Nick Castellanos ($4,600DK, $3,800 FD), Michael Brantley ($4,000 DK, $3,500 FD), Oscar Mercado ($4,900DK, $3,400 FD), Michael Conforto ($4,600 DK, $3,500 FD), Robbie Grossman, ($3,500DK, $2,400 FD),

9/24 DFS Hitting Stacks of the Day

Red Sox at Edinson Vólquez/Ariel Jurado

The Red Sox shouldn’t have problems getting to either Vólquez, who’s having a last hurrah in the big leagues before retiring, or Jurado, who has a 5.73 ERA this season and has trouble getting Ks. You may want to skip Betts, who’s been getting rest since coming back from a foot injury, but grab shares of J.D. Martinez, Rafael Devers, Xander Bogaerts and some of the more inexpensive bats (Mitch Moreland, Brock Holt, Jackie Bradley) that should help you make salary. I think the 2-5 plus Christian Vazquez (the projected 7 hitter) might be my favorite stack among the Red Sox bats.

Houston Astros at Justin Dunn/Tommy Milone

The Astros are always worth looking to considering their 121 team wRC+ and .349 wOBA, but they face a couple mashable pitchers and you don’t have to worry about splits since they rake just about everybody. Get some shares of the red-hot George Springer (three HRs on Sunday) as well as Jose Altuve, Alex Bregman, Yuri Gurriel and Yordan Alvarez. they have the highest implied total among the teams with set lines so far.

TorontoBlue Jays at Dylan Bundy

These teams have been bashing each other’s brains in, and while I prefer the Blue Jays side of this offensive tilt, the entire game stack is in play. It’s been a GPP winner recently, so I have no qualms about rolling out the usual suspects again: Cavan Biggio, Randal Grichuk, Rowdy Tellez, and value bats like Brandon Drury and Teoscar Hernandez – especially if Lourdes Gurriel, Jr. (illness) sits for a second consecutive day.

9/24 DFS Hitting Stacks to Consider

Chicago Cubs at Mitch Keller – The Cubs are nearly out of the playoff picture thanks to the Cardinals, but for 9/24 DFS you shouldn’t consider them officially dead yet – and they’re a bunch who can still pile on the runs. The Pirates home park isn’t the best venue for stacks, so ownership should be relatively low.

Atlanta Braves at Danny Duffy – Plenty of bats to like for this potent Braves lineup facing the lefty in Kansas City, you’ll just have to leave out a couple since they’re all so good. I may be fading the Yankees in Tampa, but I’m not worried about the Braves against a hittable pitcher in the heartland.

Cleveland Indians vs. Hector Santiago – The Indians aren’t as consistent as the Braves offensively, but they have a bunch of lefty mashers with a special affinity for Santiago. The implied run total is over 5.5, which means you should have shares of the 1-5 bats along with some exposure to Franmil Reyes and Jordan Luplow. I might take a wait-and-see approach with Jose Ramirez, who’s set to be activated from the IL.

Oakland Athletics at Dillon Peters – The A’s aren’t as good against LHPs (.305 team wOBA), but it’s a viable contrarian stack to consider for 9/24 DFS. The implied total is also over 5.5 runs and seems a bit high — so tread lightly with this bunch.

9/24 DFS Hitting Catcher

Christian Vazquez, BOS at TEX

DK ($4,600)   FD($3,200)

Vazquez got a day off yesterday against the Rays, but he should beback in the lineup Tuesday in Texas. He’s got 3 homers in his last seven gamesand his overall numbers in 2019 have been impressive: .273/.316/.472 with 22 HRs.Digging a little deeper, we find a .232 road ISO, with 14 of his dingers comingaway from Fenway Park.

9/24 DFS Hitting First Baseman

Carlos Santana, CLE at DET

DK (4,900)   FD ($4,000)

Santana is having a career year, and I’m plugging him into most ofmy GPP builds against Hector Santiago. Hisseason slash sits at .288/.403/.529 with a 139 wRC+ and he’s destroying LHPsthis season (1.015 OPS, 162 wRC+ and .421 wOBA). There are many ways to go at1B on this slate, but Santana is my bet for a monster game.

9/24 DFS Hitting Second Baseman

Cavan Biggio, TOR at BAL

DK ($4,900)   FD ($3,700)

Did you expect me to play some other than Biggio? He hit anotherbomb last night and has ben raking every time I use him in GPPs – from lastTuesday’s cycle and Thursday’s home run to helping me spike some decent cashesin last night’s Rally contests on FanDuel. He’s way too cheap on that site andhis price tag on DK should keep him from being chalk – especially with so manyhigh-priced arms.

9/24 DFS Hitting Third Baseman

Manny Machado, SD vs. LAD (3B/SS on DK)

(DK $3,700)   FD($3,000)

It’s been a disappointing season for Machado, but he’d like to endit with some standout performances against his old team, the Dodgers. I lovethe matchup against LHP Rich Hill since Machado – with some really pronouncedsplits this season – hits .314/.401/.683 against southpaws. The price is rightfor Machado, and using him as a one-off or with OF Hunter Renfroe ($4,000 onDK, $3,100 on FD) – who’s another viable Padres power hitter with a 132 wRC+against LHPs – makes a lot of sense if you’re trying to find some value and buildingmultiple lineups.

9/24 DFS Hitting Shortstop

Corey Seager, LAD at SD

DK ($4,700)   FD($3,800)

Seger is finally hitting his groove as we near the postseason, andnow is a great time to plug him in at SS in the 9/24 DFS main slate. He’s got a123 wRC+ against RHPs and has a .381 WOBA and .314 ISO sine the start of September. There’s no time like the present, and presently, Corey Seager is raking.

Tired of losing money on your DFS and Sportsbook? Sign up today and become a winner whileturning your passion for sports into a second stream of income!

9/24 DFS Hitting Outfielders

Cody Bellinger, LOS at SD (1B/OF on DK)

DK ($4,800)   FD($3,200)

Cody might just ring that bell again on Tuesday night against “BadRonald” Bolanos, who’s given up three homers in 14 innings. Bellinger’s 166wRC+ and ridiculous .314/.414/.641 slash line vs. RHPs means he’ll be in all thelineups I can afford him in, regardless of the venue and the fact he’s on the road(149 wRC+ in away games this season).

Ronald Acuna, Jr., ATL at KC

DK ($5,300)   FD ($4,400)

He makes for a fine one-off if you’re not using the Braves stack, and he’s putting up obscene numbers against both LHPs and RHPs. Another interesting stat about Acuna is that he’s slashing a robust .281/.370/.510 with a 125 wRC+ at home and .279/.361/.527 with a 128 wRC+on the road. There’s not a day that I don’t consider him, even against the league’s top pitchers and regardless of the lofty price tag.

Austin Hays, BAL at TOR
DK ($3,800)   FD ($2,700)

Hays had a monster night in Toronto on Monday and he’s once again in a good spot facing a lefty. The 24-year-old slugger is slashing .302/.362/.535 in the 15 games he’s played in the majors, and he’s still very inexpensive on both sites. If he’s in the Orioles lineup on Tuesday, I’ll be grabbing shares.

9/24 DFS Additional Stack Options:

C: Wilson Contreras ($4,400 DK, $3,200 FD), Sean Murphy ($4,000DK, $3,100 FD)

1B: Anthony Rizzo ($4,900 DK, $4,100 FD), Trey Mancini ($4,700 DK,$3,900 FD)

2B: Jose Altuve ($4,700 DK, $4,200 FD), DJ LeMahieu ($5,000 DK)($4,200 FD – 3B)

3B: Gio Urshela ($4,100 DK, $3,000 FD) Vladimir Guerrero Jr, ($3,800DK, $3,200 FD)

SS: Francisco Lindor ($5,400 DK, $4,300 FD), Nico Hoerner ($3,700DK, $3,000 FD)

OF: Anthony Santander ($4,000 DK, $3,400 FD), Brett Gardner ($4,500DK, $3,500 FD), Randal Grichuk ($4,100 DK, $3,000 FD), Ramon Laureano GPP($3,100 FD), Austin Riley GPP ($2,200 FD), Adam Duvall GPP ($2,400 FD)

This Saturday September 21st slate is all about landing the right bats. Follow my stud and value plays and lock in the MLB DFS Picks of Destiny.

Check out our Data Driven Projections for FanDuel Hitters for Premium Gold Members.

Todays picks are listed in order of preference, not price.

David Jones won 100K on FanDuel! Read about it here!

Stacks

Minnesota Twins

The Twins go against Glenn Sparkman (6.02 ERA) at home tonight. Here are Sparkman’s FanDuel points the last five games (4, 24, 6, -5, 13). He has given up 22 hits in the same amount of time. The Twins let some people down last night but I will go back to them today on a slate where there are several stackable MLB DFS teams.

Garver, Rosario, Kepler, Cruz, Sano, Polanco

LA Dodgers

Goodness, there are a lot of great MLB DFS stacks I like tonight. I love to target Chi Chi Gonzalez (6.23 ERA). He looked good in his last start at Coors only surrendering one run, but that was vs a poor Padres team. Tonight he should regress to being bad. The Dodgers lineup is stacked and I think you can play basically anyone that fits.

Bellinger, Smith, Joc, Muncy, Seager, Pollock, Freese, Beaty

Astros

Patrick Sandoval (L) is on the mound for the Angels in Houston tonight. He should only last three to four innings here, as that his been his average over the last several games. The Astros’ top of the order should help make it a short night for Sandoval. They looked fantastic last night early, but took their foot off the gas late. I think we get a few more homers from the boys tonight from what I consider the best team in baseball.

Altuve, Bregman, Alvarez, Gurriel, Correa

Stack Pivots: Brewers, Indians, A’s

Catcher: Yasmani Grandal ($3,200 FD) I really like the matchup for the Brewers against James Marvel (9.0 ERA in two starts). Grandal slugs righties at .201 ISO/.353 wOBA with 16 home runs on the season. I like his place in the middle of the order for a team that should rake tonight. I am counting on him to bust out of his slump.

Catcher Pivots: Mitch Garver (obvious spot, I like him just as much as Grandal), Josh Phegley, Roberto Perez, Sean Murphy, Will Smith. Catcher is deep today.

First Base: Matt Olsen ($3,700 FD) This guy is producing every night in MLB DFS and tonight he goes against Brock Burke, who gave up nine runs in his last start. The Oakland A’s are in a sneaky spot and Olsen gets his when the whole lineup is turning over, which I expect tonight. Olsen hits to a .262 ISO/.317 wOBA with 10 home runs in 141 ABs vs lefties.

First Base Pivots: Yuli Gurriel, Carlos Santana, David Freese, Eric Thames

Second Base: Jose Altuve ($4,400 FD) When Altuve is hot you play him. He has four home runs in his last six games. He is elite versus lefties and that’s what he gets tonight in Patrick Sandoval. He has a homer in each of his last two games. Yes please.

Second Base Pivots: Keston Hiura, Max Muncy

Third Base: Mike Moustakas ($3,400 FD) I don’t love a lot at third basemen today so I am landing on Moustakas because of the matchup vs James Marvel. I mentioned earlier he is getting bludgeoned in his first two MLB games. Mous has 24 homers off lefties this season and there is no reason he can’t go deep again tonight.

Third Base Pivots: Matt Chapman, Miguel Sano

Shortstop: Alex Bregman ($4,300 FD) Over his last five games he is averaging 17.9 FD points per game. No need to overthink it here vs Patrik Sandoval. He is locked in to give you MLB DFS production and keep your lineups alive. He has three home runs in his last five games.

Shortstop Pivots: Fransisco Lindor, Carlos Correa, Cory Seager, Jorge Polanco

Upgrade now!

Outfield: Cody Bellinger ($4,500 FD) He is locked in right now and he gets one of my favorite pitchers to target in Chi Chi. He hits to a .332 ISO/.438 wOBA against righties and has 28 home runs. Easy play.

Pivots: Yordan Alvarez, Nelson Cruz, A.J. Pollock

Outfield: Eddie Rosario ($3,500 FD) He has a poor outing last night but the three games before he had multiple hits in each. Going against Glenn Sparkman will give him an excellent chance to get back on track. He hits .to a 237 IS/.333 wOBA with 24 home runs against righties this year. He should be batting fifth and can help clear off the bases.

Pivots: Franmil Reyes, Mark Canha, Joe Pederson

Outfield: Trent Grisham ($2,700 FD) batting lead off against James Marvel and he is cheap. He is not the Brewers best bat, but he should exceed value at $2,700 in MLB DFS.

Pivots: Jordan Luplow

I primarily used FanDuel when building optimal MLB DFS lineups.

Stacks

Cleveland Indians

The second game of the doubleheader will be on the main slate and should be a bullpen game for the Twins. Former Uber driver Randy Dobnak recently got called up and he will be starting for Minnesota. He actually has looked pretty good in MiLB with a 2.07 ERA but this Indians team is a different caliber of hitters than what he is used to. In Dobnak’s last three innings pitched in the bigs he has given up three runs. I feel like the Twins will try and extend him, until he implodes, in an attempt to preserve the bullpen arms as long as possible.

Fransisco Lindor, Franmil Reyes, Carlos Santana, Jose Ramirez, Yasiel Puig, Jason Kipnis

San Diego Padres

Last night Coors Field made the struggling Padres finally come alive again. Tonight Peter Lambert is pitching for the Rockies and it’s not going to be pretty, again. He currently has a 6.86 ERA and gets absolutely dominated every time he is on the mound. I had to go back to the June game-logs to find a start where he didn’t give up multiple runs. The Padres are priced fairly tonight and there really is no reason half of them shouldn’t pay off. Last night they were able to put eight runs on the board. If they can do that again, which they certainly have a chance of with Lambert pitching, we should be building our bankroll for NFL tomorrow.

Eric Hosmer, Manny Machado, Greg Garcia, Nick Martini, Wil Myers, Austin Hedgers

Colorado Rockies

I like to play the Rockies vs lefties. Eric Lauer is on the bump for the Padres, and while he has been decent for San Diego (4.41 ERA, 1.38 WHIP) pitching in Coors Field isn’t something that is going to help his numbers. My MLB DFS stack will start with Trevor Story, who has already taken Lauer deep twice in just 12 at bats against him in his career. The Rockies put up 10 runs last night, we just need them to keep their foot on the gas.

Trevor Story, Nolan Arenado, Ian Desmond, Ryan McMahon, Patrick Valaika, Daniel Murphy, Charlie Blackmon

Sneaky Stacks: White Sox, A’s, Giants, Twins

Catcher: James McCann ($3,000 FD) goes against Felix Hernandez (R) in Seattle. In 10 ABs vs Hernandez, McCann has one home run and hits to a .400 ISO/.315 wOBA. On the season McCann has 12 home runs vs right handed pitching. Hernandez has been struggling towards the back end of the season and is getting lit up basically every start. He has not made it six innings since April 30th. McCann should be low owned and he has upside.

Catcher Pivot: Austin Hedges

First Base: Jose Abreu ($4,100 FD) is on fire right now. He has hit five home runs in his last eight games. In the same time frame he has had at least one hit in every game. He also gets to pick on the struggling Hernandez mentioned above. On the season, he has 24 home runs vs righties with a .226 ISO/.327 wOBA. Love it for MLB DFS.

First Base Pivots: Carlos Santana, Eric Hosmer, Daniel Murphy

Second Base: Ryan McMahon ($3,500 FD) is at home in Coors today and is priced very fairly for someone who is in the middle of the lineup and hits lefties at .229 ISO/.337 wOBA. He has nine home runs in 140 ABs vs. southpaws and I think the Rockies are going to get to Eric Lauer tonight. If you stack Rockies, McMahon fits nicely.

Second Base Pivots: Jason Kipnis, Greg Garcia

Third Base: Nolan Arenado ($4,800 FD) is the best Rockie on the board. He is another hot bat right now with three home runs in his last four games. He smashes lefties at .302/.448 wOBA. He is my favorite MLB DFS bat on the slate.

Third Base Pivots: Yoan Moncada, Manny Machado

Shortstop: Francisco Lindor ($4,400 FD) is also slashing the ball lately. He has four home runs in his last six games. He has 23 home runs on the season vs righties and hits .274 ISO/.380 wOBA. He should lead the charge vs. the Twins bullpen tonight and is extraordinarily safe. Plug in him, or Trevor Story (OR BOTH) and get weird somewhere else.

Shortstop Pivots: Trevor Story (also elite option at SS)

Outfield: Ian Desmond ($3,400 FD). I am going to stay with this underpriced Rockie. Desmond has the second best numbers vs. lefties on the Rockies, which is surprising. He carries a .301 ISO/.389 wOBA with 11 home runs on the season, which ties Charlie Blackmon. I trust him tonight hitting behind Arenado.

Outfield: Franmil Reyes ($3,000 FD) is just too cheap. He has be up and down lately but I can get behind him in this bullpen game at $3,000 on FanDuel. He has the most home runs vs righties on the Indians with 28. He hits .272 ISO/.339 wOBA. Excellent MLB DFS value here.

Outfield: Wil Myers ($3,200 FD) has a hit in 12 of his last 13 games with two home runs. He has 10 home runs on the season vs righties. I like his place in the order and I like the park his is hitting in today. Also he faces Peter Lambert (6.68 ERA) who gets absolutely crushed in Coors.

Outfield Pivots: Charlie Blackmon, Yasiel Puig, Nick Martini, Kyle Lewis
