10/11 Betting Winner – Gus Medina

10/11 DFS Winner: Brayden Point

Here is a snippet from the Daily Hot Shot written by Allan Fabrykant where he told you to target Point. Even though it wasn’t the defensive battle many expected, Point had a great game last night against the Toronto Maple Leafs with two goals and an assist.

Outlook for the rest of the season: This was a huge first game for Point and as great to get going immediately out of the gate. He has increased his goals and assists each of his first three seasons in the NHL. Expect Point to get around his 92 points that he finished last year with and eventually pass it.

10/11 DFS Winner: Golden Tate

Here is a quick snippet of the Thursday Night Showdown Preview by David Jones. He was high on Golden Tate with the New York Giants ruling out a few skill players early and Tate delivered with six catches for 102 yards and a touchdown against the New England Patriots in Foxborough.

Outlook for the rest of the season: This was a great improvement from last week’s season debut for him. With less options available, the Giants needed this type of game out of Tate. He will help the development of Daniel Jones and could have a good rest of the season with Saquon Barkley and Evan Engram healthy. Expect more games like this compared to what he did last week.

10/11 DFS Winner: Jose Altuve

If you followed Branon C. Williams’ advice on the MLB Showdown article, available for anybody to see, you would have been set up for success. Jose Altuve had a solid Game 5 against the Tampa Bay Rays, going 2-for-4 with a home run, two RBI and a pair of runs scored.

The 10/10 DFS MLB Showdown will either result in a sigh of relief at Minute Maid Park or the foundation of one hell of a sports weekend for Tampa Bay. Game 5 of the American League Divisional Series between the Rays and Astros (7:07 PM Eastern, FS1) brings us Tyler Glasnow ($15,000 DraftKings) v. Gerrit Cole ($18,000 DK) along with a loaded Showdown lineup.

10/8 DFS Showdown

It’s 2x the points for MVP, 1.5x the points for All-Star and regular production for the three Utility spots. October is filled with unsung efforts, something to keep in mind when filling out the Utility roles. Look for players who’ve had success this season against a particular team, along with taking a gander of recent production. I’m a strong believer in OPS, more so if a strong OPS is bolstered with stolen bases.

Count on Houston A-Team

MVP (2X)

Jose Altuve, 2B, HOU (FD, $9000, DK $13,800)

One of three Astros who’ve remembered how to hit past late September, Altuve is hitting .313 /.353/.813 in the ALDS. Four of his five postseason hits have been of the extra base persuasion (two doubles, two homers) and I’ll bank on his career .968 OPS in ALDS play to carry not only the Astros into the long-awaited ALCS collision with the Yankees, but also to lead you and I toward the long green.

All-Star (1.5X)

Yordan Alvarez, OF, HOU (FD $8000, DK, $14,100)

He has yet to provide the thunder of one of his mammoth blasts, but Alvarez has hit .375/.375/.863 with three doubles entering tonight. Back home in H-Town, Alvarez will be more at ease and more likely to rake (1.140 home OPS). He’s averaged a homer every 11.59 at-bats, a number that suggests Alvarez is well overdue to go yard. Having experienced firsthand how loud Minute Maid Park can get in October, I can only imagine the noise level if Alvarez goes deep in a clutch situation tonight.

Utility

Tommy Pham, OF, TB (FD $7000, DK $12,900)

Pham has been the MVP of this series and will be the reason Astros fans could wake up on Friday morning in a gloomy state. He’s hit .429/.455/.715 in the postseason, recording three of his nine hits in Houston. Pham’s 12.8% walk rate and modest 18.8% strikeout rate indicates he won’t be an easy out for Cole. For all of his postseason pop, Pham has just a 24.8% fly ball rate, but he will sting the hell out of the ball, evidenced by his 43.6% hard contact rate.

Utility

Avisail Garcia, OF, TB (FD $6000, DK $11,700)

Although I expected Garcia to hit well on Tuesday, I wasn’t expecting four hits. He’s not as productive outside of Tropicana Field (.711 road OPS), yet I’m placing Garcia here because he’s capable of carrying the momentum west of Tampa Bay. Like Pham, he’s not a frequent fly ball hitter (31.6%), yet an increase in line drives (22.3%) and a slight drop in ground balls (46%) makes Garcia potentially dangerous.

Utility

Josh Reddick, OF, HOU (FD $4500, DK $8100)

Hitless in seven ADLS at-bats, Reddick will likely get the start because of his .977 OPS against Rays pitching in the regular season. Reddick is a 10/10 DFS MLB Showdown choice despite being mostly below-average after the All-Star break. He revived his bat with a September that saw Reddick hit .354 with four homers and 12 RBI over 62 at-bats. The numbers indicate that Reddick is more effective batting sixth, where he’s posted a .331/.372/.493 mark with six homers, 19 RBI and 19 runs scored.

10/5 MLB DFS Two-Game Postseason Slate and Showdown Picks

We’re in the heart of the MLB postseason and looking at some 10/5 DFS picks for the two-game slate and featured Showdown on DraftKings (9:07 EST). Let’s take in some data and find the gems on this awesome Saturday of MLB DFS action!

10/5 DFS Two-Game Slate (DK & FD)

The games: Minnesota Twins at New York Yankees (5:07 p.m. EST) & Tampa Bay Rays at Houston Astros (9:07 p.m. EST)

SP Strategy

Starting the right combo of two pitchers could give you a 20-40 point lead over the wrong combo of two starters, and there’s some huge value plays on this slate.

SP1: Gerrit Cole, HOU vs. TB (DK $10,800, FD $12,200)

For the most dominant pitcher on the slate, you’ll be spending top dollar, though Cole (who struck out over 300 batters in 2019) is much more affordable on DK. With his K/9 upside, he’s got the easiest avenue to 25+ DK points.

SP1 pivot: Blake Snell (DK $7,500, FD $9,400)

It’s hard to trust Snell against this dynamic and powerful Astros lineup. They hit for contact and power and sport a 131 wRC+ against LHPs. He’s super risky even at this price and Astros hitters have had plenty of success against him. He’s also probably not going to go past 2-3 IP, given his short appearances in his previous three starts/opens.

SP2: Masahiro Tanaka, NYY vs. MIN (DK $6,400, FD $8,000)

Tanaka usually pitches well in big games, and he’s been areliable starter in the postseason for the Yankees the past several years (3-2,1.50 ERA/ 3.49 FIP, .162 BAA and 22.3 K%). I like that he’s carrying about a 4-to-1K/BB rate after the All-Star break, even if there’s a chance he gets blown up fora couple HRs early. That would be a disaster for us, but his pivot – devoid of playoffexperience and still a veritable neophyte at the big-league level, is evenriskier.

SP2 pivot: Randy Dobnak (DK $5,800, FD $5,500)

Dobnak’s regular season numbers look a bit like Tanaka’spostseason stats – so he’s worth a look. But the Yankees were having somepretty good at-bats last night and I’m just not too interested in a play thisrisky.

10/5 DFS SP1/2 Combo Breakdown:

Top 3:

Cole/Tanaka leaves $4,100 per hitter on DK (Preferred – mixing in value and stud bats)
Tanaka/Dobnak leaves $4,725 per hitter on DK (For an Astros full power stack and just a couple of the best Yanks/Twins bats)
Snell/Tanaka leaves $4,512 per hitter on DK (super risky but viable if Cole gets less than 20 points and Snell pitches 2-3 clean)

Bottom 3:

Cole/Dobnak leaves $4,175 per hitter on DK (The option if you want to fade Tanaka)
Snell/Dobnak leaves $4,587 per hitter on DK (Crazy talk)
Cole/Snell leaves $3.962 per hitter on DK (No thanks)

10/5 DFS Hitters

10/5 DFS C: Martin Maldonado, HOU (DK $2,900, FD $2,200)

If Maldonado gets the start, he’s probably the cheapest starting bat on the slate and makes perfect sense as a contrarian play the obvious options of Gary Sanchez and Travis d’Arnaud, who’s got four hits in four career AB (with a homer) against Gerrit Cole. Pivots: Sanchez for power upside, d’Arnaud for BvP fanatics.

10/5 DFS 1B: Edwin Encarnacion, NYY (DK $4,600, FD $3,800)

The most expensive 1B is still a bargain at this price, and he’s got multi-homer upside in Yankee Stadium. The Parrot walker has a 121 wRC+ against right-handers this season. Pivot: Yuri Gurriel (1B/3B) at just $4,200 on DK.

10/5 DFS 2B: Jose Altuve, HOU (DK $4,300, FD $4,100)

We’re still on track with our basic builds of Astros/Yankees and the price is depressed on DK. I’m not going to overthink this one, plugging in one of the best hitters of the past decade, postseason included. Pivot: Jonathan Schoop ($3,500 on DK) if he’s starting.

10/5 DFS 3B: D.J. LeMahieu, NYY (DK $4,500, FD $3,800)

The Yankees leadoff hitter connected last night and always give you a chance with his high contact rates and ability to punch one the other way. He drew some surprising comparisons to Derek Jeter in an eye-opening deep dive before he even played a game for the Yankees, and I’ve been a believer from day one. Pivot: Alex Bregman ($4,300 on FD), Gurriel on DK.

10/5 DFS SS: Alex Bregman, HOU (DK $4,800)

Bregman launched 41 homers this year in an MVP-type season, including six in his final 13 games. He’s exceptional against LHPs (205 wRC+ and .473 wOBA) and there’s no reason to leave him out of your builds. Pivot: Gleyber Torres ($4,000 on DK), Didi Gregorius ($3,200 on FD).

10/5 DFS OF: Brett Gardner, NYY ($DK $4,200, FD $2,900)

Opposing teams have been pitching the sluggers carefully this season, and guys like Aaron Judge and Giancarlo Stanton may only see a couple mashable pitches over multiple ABs. This has allowed Gardner to bulk up his power numbers (28 HRs and .253 ISO) this season and produce at unexpected levels. He’s inexpensive and will be chalky, but he’s a must-have in your lineup builds. Pivot: Jake Marisnick (DK $3,000, FD $2,300) – I’ll have some lineups with both Gardner and Marisnick so I can fit all these other big bats.

10/5 DFS OF: Giancarlo Stanton, NYY (DK $4,000, FD $3,800)

Getting Stanton at this price seems like highway robbery, and while he’s probably going to exit early for a pinch runner or defensive replacement, he can get a lot done in 2-3 ABs. Watching his ABs last night, he looks good and is going to make most of my GPP lineups. Pivot: Michael Brantley (DK $3,800, FD $3,500).

10/5 DFS OF: Max Kepler, MIN (DK $4,500, FD $3,400)

I need some Twins in here and I’m most interested in Kepler, who’s plate approach and batted ball data seems tailor-made for Yankee Stadium. He’s a pull hitter and Tanaka could easily serve up a dinger if he leaves one in Kepler’s wheelhouse. Pivot: Eddie Rosario (DK $4,500, FD $3,600).

9/26 DFS Hitting Picks and Stacks: Indians Can’t Cease Fire

9/26 DFS Hitting Stacks ofthe Day

Cleveland Indians at DylanCease

With Jose Ramirez back, the Indians have another titanic bat in their lineup as they try to sneak into the playoffs via the Wild Card. Eliminated from securing their fourth straight AL Central title with Wednesday’s loss (coupled with a victory by the Minnesota Twins), the Indians have a Thursday night matchup that bodes well for the bats facing a hittable Dylan Cease (5.79 ERA). Expect Francisco Lindor to erase that poor showing last night and get some exposure to the 2-5 bats, along with Franmil Reyes and a dirt-cheap Mike Freeman ($3,200 DK, $2,500 FD) at the bottom of the order.

Oakland Athletics atSeattle Mariners

We’ve come to expect a lot from the A’s as September winds down, and this is a prime opportunity for the bats to come alive and pile on some runs on this 9/26 DFS slate. Mark Canha left the game early last night and Khris Davis is battling a stomach bug, but there are plenty of bats to go to in their stead, and while Felix Hernandez is a historically solid pitcher, he’s nearing the end of his career (6.51 ERA this season) and just isn’t the same old King Felix. The A’s also hit well on the road, with a .329 wOBA as a team. I like Matt Olson, Matt Chapman and Marcus Semien.

Houston Astros at JaimeBarria

The Astros plan on sitting Jose Altuve, Carlos Correa and George Springer, but that just means you can grab some value at the top of their lineup with Kyle Tucker and mix in some “next man up” types who’ve performed well in limited duty this season. They’re not my favorite stack for 9/26 DFS, but they’re certainly viable and a little cheaper to fit in without all the regulars.

9/26 DFS Hitting Stacks toConsider

Chicago Cubs at Joe Musgrove – The Cubs face ahittable pitcher who can hand out free passes and get lit up as easily as hecan rack up the Ks.

New York Mets vs. Jordan Yamamoto – Yamamoto isn’t a bad young pitcher, but he struggles with RHBs and the Mets have a bunch of really good ones.

9/26 DFS HittingCatcher

Wilson Ramos, NYM vs. MIA

DK ($3,600) FD ($2600)

Unfortunately, the pickings are slim at catcher today, so I’ll be looking to Wilson Ramos and his power upside. The Mets regular catcher is slashing .286/.350/.415 this season and Yamamoto has trouble with right-handed bats (.322wOBA vs. RHBs, .250 wOBA vs. LHBs). Just make sure he’s in the lineup before you lock him in.

9/26 DFS Hitting FirstBaseman

Matt Olson, OAK at SEA

DK (4,600) FD ($3,700)

My affinity for Matt Olson is well-known among my peers, and he’s deliveredfor me time and again in GPPs. This matchup is an interesting one, because Olsonhas a .293 ISO and 150 wRC+ against righties. Olson, who’s been hitting forpower this month with a .345 ISO, will likely face a couple of RHPs and has agood chance at going deep in this game.

9/26 DFS Hitting SecondBaseman

Aledmys Diaz, HOU at LAA

DK($4,100) FD ($2,900)

With some Astros sitting, Diaz probably gets another start tonight and is carrying a decent slash line (.271/.349/.457) into the 9/26 contest. He has a 122 wRC+ against RHPs this season, is fairly priced on DK and is unbelievably cheap on FD. It looks like I may give him a shot in about half my lineups this evening.

9/26 DFS Hitting ThirdBaseman

Matt Chapman, OAK at SEA

(DK $4,100) FD ($3,600)

Mr. Chapman homered last night, is very affordable on both sites, and is slightly better against RHPs (124 wRC+ vs. RHPs, 122 wRC+ vs. LHPs). While he had a relatively quiet September, I like the matchup for Chapman against King Felix here here — and there are not many 3B who stick out in this slate other than him, Alex Bregman (who’s available at SS on DK), and Yoan Moncada.

9/26 DFSHitting Shortstop

Alex Bregman, HOU at LAA

DK ($2,600) FD ($2,000)

Some of the veteran Astros players will get spelled tonight, but Bregman is slated to stay in the lineup and is red hot at the plate (3-4, two 2B, RBI, R last night). He sports a robust 168 wRC+ and is slashing .298/.421/.595 triple-slash line with 119 runs scored, 40 homers, 110 RBI and five steals this season. The hard-hitting Bregman is a fine place to anchor your SS slot.

9/26 DFS HittingOutfielders

Kyle Tucker, HOU at LAA

DK($4,800) FD ($2,900)

Tucker draws the leadoff spot for 9/26 DFS a night after launching a solo homer against the Mariners. With Jose Altuve getting the day off, he takes over a prime spot in the Astros lineup and has done ell with his chances so far: The 22-year-old rookie outfielder is hitting .304/.339/.571 with 11 runs scored, three HRs, 10 RBI and five SB in 59 plate appearances this season. The price on DK is fair, but on FD he’s just way too cheap.

Brandon Nimmo, NYM vs. MIA

DK ($3,900) FD ($2,900)

I love Nimmo in the leadoff spot today for the Mets, who don’t havea lot to play for but still have an exciting group of young hitters. Nimmo hasa 133 wRC+ against RHPs in his career and will have plenty of run scoringopportunities here. He also has a 16.4 BB% facing RHPs in his career and a 19.7BB% this season against righties – a nice patience complement to his burgeoningpower.

Kyle Schwarber, CHC at PIT

DK ($3,800) FD ($2,700)

While he’s not much of a contact/average hitter, Schwarber has been heating up at the plate (2-4 last night with a pair of singles on Wednesday) just in time for his team to be eliminated from the playoffs. Schwarber is hitting .248/.337/.527 with 37 homers, 91 RBI and 80 runs scored in 152 games overall in 2019, and he’s got a great matchup vs. RHP Joe Musgrove.

9/26 DFS Additional StackOptions:

9/24 DFS Hitting Stacks of the Day

Red Sox at Edinson Vólquez/Ariel Jurado

The Red Sox shouldn’t have problems getting to either Vólquez, who’s having a last hurrah in the big leagues before retiring, or Jurado, who has a 5.73 ERA this season and has trouble getting Ks. You may want to skip Betts, who’s been getting rest since coming back from a foot injury, but grab shares of J.D. Martinez, Rafael Devers, Xander Bogaerts and some of the more inexpensive bats (Mitch Moreland, Brock Holt, Jackie Bradley) that should help you make salary. I think the 2-5 plus Christian Vazquez (the projected 7 hitter) might be my favorite stack among the Red Sox bats.

Houston Astros at Justin Dunn/Tommy Milone

The Astros are always worth looking to considering their 121 team wRC+ and .349 wOBA, but they face a couple mashable pitchers and you don’t have to worry about splits since they rake just about everybody. Get some shares of the red-hot George Springer (three HRs on Sunday) as well as Jose Altuve, Alex Bregman, Yuri Gurriel and Yordan Alvarez. they have the highest implied total among the teams with set lines so far.

TorontoBlue Jays at Dylan Bundy

These teams have been bashing each other’s brains in, and while I prefer the Blue Jays side of this offensive tilt, the entire game stack is in play. It’s been a GPP winner recently, so I have no qualms about rolling out the usual suspects again: Cavan Biggio, Randal Grichuk, Rowdy Tellez, and value bats like Brandon Drury and Teoscar Hernandez – especially if Lourdes Gurriel, Jr. (illness) sits for a second consecutive day.

9/24 DFS Hitting Stacks to Consider

Chicago Cubs at Mitch Keller – The Cubs are nearly out of the playoff picture thanks to the Cardinals, but for 9/24 DFS you shouldn’t consider them officially dead yet – and they’re a bunch who can still pile on the runs. The Pirates home park isn’t the best venue for stacks, so ownership should be relatively low.

Atlanta Braves at Danny Duffy – Plenty of bats to like for this potent Braves lineup facing the lefty in Kansas City, you’ll just have to leave out a couple since they’re all so good. I may be fading the Yankees in Tampa, but I’m not worried about the Braves against a hittable pitcher in the heartland.

Cleveland Indians vs. Hector Santiago – The Indians aren’t as consistent as the Braves offensively, but they have a bunch of lefty mashers with a special affinity for Santiago. The implied run total is over 5.5, which means you should have shares of the 1-5 bats along with some exposure to Franmil Reyes and Jordan Luplow. I might take a wait-and-see approach with Jose Ramirez, who’s set to be activated from the IL.

Oakland Athletics at Dillon Peters – The A’s aren’t as good against LHPs (.305 team wOBA), but it’s a viable contrarian stack to consider for 9/24 DFS. The implied total is also over 5.5 runs and seems a bit high — so tread lightly with this bunch.

Christian Vazquez, BOS at TEX

DK ($4,600) FD($3,200)

Vazquez got a day off yesterday against the Rays, but he should beback in the lineup Tuesday in Texas. He’s got 3 homers in his last seven gamesand his overall numbers in 2019 have been impressive: .273/.316/.472 with 22 HRs.Digging a little deeper, we find a .232 road ISO, with 14 of his dingers comingaway from Fenway Park.

9/24 DFS Hitting First Baseman

Carlos Santana, CLE at DET

DK (4,900) FD ($4,000)

Santana is having a career year, and I’m plugging him into most ofmy GPP builds against Hector Santiago. Hisseason slash sits at .288/.403/.529 with a 139 wRC+ and he’s destroying LHPsthis season (1.015 OPS, 162 wRC+ and .421 wOBA). There are many ways to go at1B on this slate, but Santana is my bet for a monster game.

9/24 DFS Hitting Second Baseman

Cavan Biggio, TOR at BAL

DK ($4,900) FD ($3,700)

Did you expect me to play some other than Biggio? He hit anotherbomb last night and has ben raking every time I use him in GPPs – from lastTuesday’s cycle and Thursday’s home run to helping me spike some decent cashesin last night’s Rally contests on FanDuel. He’s way too cheap on that site andhis price tag on DK should keep him from being chalk – especially with so manyhigh-priced arms.

9/24 DFS Hitting Third Baseman

Manny Machado, SD vs. LAD (3B/SS on DK)

(DK $3,700) FD($3,000)

It’s been a disappointing season for Machado, but he’d like to endit with some standout performances against his old team, the Dodgers. I lovethe matchup against LHP Rich Hill since Machado – with some really pronouncedsplits this season – hits .314/.401/.683 against southpaws. The price is rightfor Machado, and using him as a one-off or with OF Hunter Renfroe ($4,000 onDK, $3,100 on FD) – who’s another viable Padres power hitter with a 132 wRC+against LHPs – makes a lot of sense if you’re trying to find some value and buildingmultiple lineups.

9/24 DFS Hitting Shortstop

Corey Seager, LAD at SD

DK ($4,700) FD($3,800)

Seger is finally hitting his groove as we near the postseason, andnow is a great time to plug him in at SS in the 9/24 DFS main slate. He’s got a123 wRC+ against RHPs and has a .381 WOBA and .314 ISO sine the start of September.There’s no time like the present, and presently, Corey Seager is raking.

9/24 DFS Hitting Outfielders

Cody Bellinger, LOS at SD (1B/OF on DK)

DK ($4,800) FD($3,200)

Cody might just ring that bell again on Tuesday night against “BadRonald” Bolanos, who’s given up three homers in 14 innings. Bellinger’s 166wRC+ and ridiculous .314/.414/.641 slash line vs. RHPs means he’ll be in all thelineups I can afford him in, regardless of the venue and the fact he’s on the road(149 wRC+ in away games this season).

Ronald Acuna, Jr., ATL at KC

DK ($5,300) FD ($4,400)

He makes for a fine one-off if you’re not using the Braves stack, and he’s putting up obscene numbers against both LHPs and RHPs. Another interesting stat about Acuna is that he’s slashing a robust .281/.370/.510 with a 125 wRC+ at home and .279/.361/.527 with a 128 wRC+on the road. There’s not a day that I don’t consider him, even against the league’s top pitchers and regardless of the lofty price tag.

Austin Hays, BAL at TOR
DK ($3,800) FD ($2,700)

Hays had a monster night in Toronto on Monday and he’s once again in a good spot facing a lefty. The 24-year-old slugger is slashing .302/.362/.535 in the 15 games he’s played in the majors, and he’s still very inexpensive on both sites. If he’s in the Orioles lineup on Tuesday, I’ll be grabbing shares.

Minnesota Twins

The Twins go against Glenn Sparkman (6.02 ERA) at home tonight. Here are Sparkman’s FanDuel points the last five games (4, 24, 6, -5, 13). He has given up 22 hits in the same amount of time. The Twins let some people down last night but I will go back to them today on a slate where there are several stackable MLB DFS teams.

Garver, Rosario, Kepler, Cruz, Sano, Polanco

LA Dodgers

Goodness, there are a lot of great MLB DFS stacks I like tonight. I love to target Chi Chi Gonzalez (6.23 ERA). He looked good in his last start at Coors only surrendering one run, but that was vs a poor Padres team. Tonight he should regress to being bad. The Dodgers lineup is stacked and I think you can play basically anyone that fits.

Bellinger, Smith, Joc, Muncy, Seager, Pollock, Freese, Beaty

Astros

Patrick Sandoval (L) is on the mound for the Angels in Houston tonight. He should only last three to four innings here, as that his been his average over the last several games. The Astros’ top of the order should help make it a short night for Sandoval. They looked fantastic last night early, but took their foot off the gas late. I think we get a few more homers from the boys tonight from what I consider the best team in baseball.

Altuve, Bregman, Alvarez, Gurriel, Correa

Stack Pivots: Brewers, Indians, A’s

Catcher: Yasmani Grandal ($3,200 FD) I really like the matchup for the Brewers against James Marvel (9.0 ERA in two starts). Grandal slugs righties at .201 ISO/.353 wOBA with 16 home runs on the season. I like his place in the middle of the order for a team that should rake tonight. I am counting on him to bust out of his slump.

Catcher Pivots: Mitch Garver (obvious spot, I like him just as much as Grandal), Josh Phegley, Roberto Perez, Sean Murphy, Will Smith. Catcher is deep today.

First Base: Matt Olsen ($3,700 FD) This guy is producing every night in MLB DFS and tonight he goes against Brock Burke, who gave up nine runs in his last start. The Oakland A’s are in a sneaky spot and Olsen gets his when the whole lineup is turning over, which I expect tonight. Olsen hits to a .262 ISO/.317 wOBA with 10 home runs in 141 ABs vs lefties.

First Base Pivots: Yuli Gurriel, Carlos Santana, David Freese, Eric Thames

Second Base: Jose Altuve ($4,400 FD) When Altuve is hot you play him. He has four home runs in his last six games. He is elite versus lefties and that’s what he gets tonight in Patrick Sandoval. He has a homer in each of his last two games. Yes please.

Second Base Pivots: Keston Hiura, Max Muncy

Third Base: Mike Moustakas ($3,400 FD) I don’t love a lot at third basemen today so I am landing on Moustakas because of the matchup vs James Marvel. I mentioned earlier he is getting bludgeoned in his first two MLB games. Mous has 24 homers off lefties this season and there is no reason he can’t go deep again tonight.

Third Base Pivots: Matt Chapman, Miguel Sano

Shortstop: Alex Bregman ($4,300 FD) Over his last five games he is averaging 17.9 FD points per game. No need to overthink it here vs Patrik Sandoval. He is locked in to give you MLB DFS production and keep your lineups alive. He has three home runs in his last five games.

Shortstop Pivots: Fransisco Lindor, Carlos Correa, Cory Seager, Jorge Polanco

Outfield: Cody Bellinger ($4,500 FD) He is locked in right now and he gets one of my favorite pitchers to target in Chi Chi. He hits to a .332 ISO/.438 wOBA against righties and has 28 home runs. Easy play.

Pivots: Yordan Alvarez, Nelson Cruz, A.J. Pollock

Outfield: Eddie Rosario ($3,500 FD) He has a poor outing last night but the three games before he had multiple hits in each. Going against Glenn Sparkman will give him an excellent chance to get back on track. He hits .to a 237 IS/.333 wOBA with 24 home runs against righties this year. He should be batting fifth and can help clear off the bases.

Pivots: Franmil Reyes, Mark Canha, Joe Pederson

Outfield: Trent Grisham ($2,700 FD) batting lead off against James Marvel and he is cheap. He is not the Brewers best bat, but he should exceed value at $2,700 in MLB DFS.

Pivots: Jordan Luplow

Cleveland Indians

The second game of the doubleheader will be on the main slate and should be a bullpen game for the Twins. Former Uber driver Randy Dobnak recently got called up and he will be starting for Minnesota. He actually has looked pretty good in MiLB with a 2.07 ERA but this Indians team is a different caliber of hitters than what he is used to. In Dobnak’s last three innings pitched in the bigs he has given up three runs. I feel like the Twins will try and extend him, until he implodes, in an attempt to preserve the bullpen arms as long as possible.

Fransisco Lindor, Franmil Reyes, Carlos Santana, Jose Ramirez, Yasiel Puig, Jason Kipnis

San Diego Padres

Last night Coors Field made the struggling Padres finally come alive again. Tonight Peter Lambert is pitching for the Rockies and it’s not going to be pretty, again. He currently has a 6.86 ERA and gets absolutely dominated every time he is on the mound. I had to go back to the June game-logs to find a start where he didn’t give up multiple runs. The Padres are priced fairly tonight and there really is no reason half of them shouldn’t pay off. Last night they were able to put eight runs on the board. If they can do that again, which they certainly have a chance of with Lambert pitching, we should be building our bankroll for NFL tomorrow.

Eric Hosmer, Manny Machado, Greg Garcia, Nick Martini, Wil Myers, Austin Hedgers

Colorado Rockies

I like to play the Rockies vs lefties. Eric Lauer is on the bump for the Padres, and while he has been decent for San Diego (4.41 ERA, 1.38 WHIP) pitching in Coors Field isn’t something that is going to help his numbers. My MLB DFS stack will start with Trevor Story, who has already taken Lauer deep twice in just 12 at bats against him in his career. The Rockies put up 10 runs last night, we just need them to keep their foot on the gas.

Trevor Story, Nolan Arenado, Ian Desmond, Ryan McMahon, Patrick Valaika, Daniel Murphy, Charlie Blackmon

Sneaky Stacks: White Sox, A’s, Giants, Twins

Catcher: James McCann ($3,000 FD) goes against Felix Hernandez (R) in Seattle. In 10 ABs vs Hernandez, McCann has one home run and hits to a .400 ISO/.315 wOBA. On the season McCann has 12 home runs vs right handed pitching. Hernandez has been struggling towards the back end of the season and is getting lit up basically every start. He has not made it six innings since April 30th. McCann should be low owned and he has upside.

Catcher Pivot: Austin Hedges

First Base: Jose Abreu ($4,100 FD) is on fire right now. He has hit five home runs in his last eight games. In the same time frame he has had at least one hit in every game. He also gets to pick on the struggling Hernandez mentioned above. On the season, he has 24 home runs vs righties with a .226 ISO/.327 wOBA. Love it for MLB DFS.

First Base Pivots: Carlos Santana, Eric Hosmer, Daniel Murphy

Second Base: Ryan McMahon ($3,500 FD) is at home in Coors today and is priced very fairly for someone who is in the middle of the lineup and hits lefties at .229 ISO/.337 wOBA. He has nine home runs in 140 ABs vs. southpaws and I think the Rockies are going to get to Eric Lauer tonight. If you stack Rockies, McMahon fits nicely.

Second Base Pivots: Jason Kipnis, Greg Garcia

Third Base: Nolan Arenado ($4,800 FD) is the best Rockie on the board. He is another hot bat right now with three home runs in his last four games. He smashes lefties at .302/.448 wOBA. He is my favorite MLB DFS bat on the slate.

Third Base Pivots: Yoan Moncada, Manny Machado

Shortstop: Francisco Lindor ($4,400 FD) is also slashing the ball lately. He has four home runs in his last six games. He has 23 home runs on the season vs righties and hits .274 ISO/.380 wOBA. He should lead the charge vs. the Twins bullpen tonight and is extraordinarily safe. Plug in him, or Trevor Story (OR BOTH) and get weird somewhere else.

Shortstop Pivots: Trevor Story (also elite option at SS)

Outfield: Ian Desmond ($3,400 FD). I am going to stay with this underpriced Rockie. Desmond has the second best numbers vs. lefties on the Rockies, which is surprising. He carries a .301 ISO/.389 wOBA with 11 home runs on the season, which ties Charlie Blackmon. I trust him tonight hitting behind Arenado.

Outfield: Franmil Reyes ($3,000 FD) is just too cheap. He has be up and down lately but I can get behind him in this bullpen game at $3,000 on FanDuel. He has the most home runs vs righties on the Indians with 28. He hits .272 ISO/.339 wOBA. Excellent MLB DFS value here.

Outfield: Wil Myers ($3,200 FD) has a hit in 12 of his last 13 games with two home runs. He has 10 home runs on the season vs righties. I like his place in the order and I like the park his is hitting in today. Also he faces Peter Lambert (6.68 ERA) who gets absolutely crushed in Coors.

Outfield Pivots: Charlie Blackmon, Yasiel Puig, Nick Martini, Kyle Lewis

Stacks

Houston Astros

The Astros face Yusei Kikuchi (L) who has a 5.36 ERA and seems to be losing some control lately. In his last two starts he has only struck out two in nine innings. He has faced the Astros twice this season and given up a total of nine runs while not getting past the fifth inning in either contest. The Astros look to be in a prime MLB DFS spot to get to Kikuchi early again tonight. Statistacally the best bats are Jose Altuve, Yordan Alvarez, Alex Bregman and Yuli Gurriel. I break down each of my favorite bats below.

Atlanta Braves

The Braves take on the Washington Nationals and Austin Voth tonight. The Nats are not comfortable extending Voth and has already said he is not going past the fifth inning (if he makes it there). Then the Braves get to go against the Nationals bullpen for the next four innings. The Braves are hot again, winning 16 of their last 18, and I don’t see that slowing down tonight. Best MLB DFS bats are Freddie Freeman, Josh Donaldson, Ronald Acuna and Ozzie Albies.

Oakland A’s

Oakland really should give Zimmerman a lot of trouble tonight. They truly do have elite bats. Zimmerman has a 6.03 ERA. While he has been serviceable lately, by only giving two runs in each of his last three contests, he can also implode. I am really like what I am seeing from the A’s bats lately and if they roll out the right lineup, in the right order, then there should be fireworks. Oakland is trying to hang in this playoff hunt. Give me Mark Cahna, Matt Olsen, Matt Chapman, Marcus Semien and Jurickson Profar for MLB DFS.

L.A. Dodgers

Tonight’s MLB DFS theme is stacking hot bats vs below average pitchers. The elite Dodgers get to face Tyler Beede after a disappointing loss Friday night. Beede has a 5.61 ERA and has given up at least one run in 19 of his 20 starts. The Dodgers get some redemption tonight and lay it on thick in what appears to be greatMLB DFS weather in Southern California. Joe Pederson, Cody Bellinger, Max Muncy and the Fresh Prince.

Honorable Mention: Mets

Catcher: Will Smith ($3,000 FD) has 10 homers since getting called up in the bigs and bats .456 ISO/.439 vs righties (like Tyler Beede) this season. Last night Will Smith struck out to another Giants reliever named Will Smith with stranding a man on in the ninth and ending the game for the Dodgers by being down one run. Tonight he gets his redemption and makes Uncle Phil proud.

Catcher Pivot: Tyler Flowers

First Base: Freddie Freeman ($3,900 FD) is in a fantastic MLB DFS spot. He hits to a .302 ISO/.432 wOBA this year with 30 home runs. He bats vs Austin Voth, in what will be a limited appearance before the Nats bullpen comes in to attempt to limit damage. Freeman hasn’t homered in four games and has let the rest of the Braves to the majority of the damage. Tonight he should pull his weight and hopefully hit one in the Chop House.

First Base Pivot: Pete Alonso; Yuli Gurriel

Second Base: Jose Altuve ($4,200 FD) ranks as the best bat on the Astros for me tonight. He crushes lefties and Kikuchi shouldn’t be much competition for the former MVP. He swings to a .378 ISO/.468 wOBA on the season vs southpaws and has multiple hits in his last two games. When Altuve gets hot, you play him in MLB DFS.

Second Base Pivot: Max Muncy; Ozzie Albies; Jurickson Profar

Third Base: Matt Chapman ($3,800 FD) has 21 homers this season vs right handed pitching. The Oakland core is lethal and if they can get this lineup turning over I expect big things. Chapman hits at a .249 ISO/.418 wOBA. Chapman usually doesn’t put up a goose egg in MLB DFS. I expect him to get on the base a couple times at minimum, but I am playing him because he should be able to get one in the bleachers tonight.

Third Base Pivot: Josh Donaldson (HOT)

Shortstop: Alex Bregman ($4,400 FD) is on a tear right now. He has scored 27.9,13,21.7,18.5, 12.5 and 19.2 FanDuel points in his last six contests. He is hitting at a .333 ISO/.440 wOBA vs lefties with 11 home runs. Things are not going to get any harder for him once a right handed pitcher comes in after Kikuchi either. Don’t overthink him, play the hot bat in one of my favorite MLB DFS stacks.

Shortstop Pivots: Marcus Semien; Ahmed Rosario

Outfield: Yordan Alvarez ($4,200 FD) is another Astro I love. With the second most home runs on the team vs lefties Alvarez will be making my main lineup. He swings to a .350 ISO/ .411 wOBA and will be in the sweet spot of the Houston lineup. He will have the opportunity to get some RBIs as well and have the back of the Astros lineup push him around the bases. Very safe.

Outfield: Cody Bellinger ($4,600 FD) is the most expensive outfielder today but has a fantastic matchup vs Tyler Beede. I will do my best to get him in, and with some cheaper pitching options today, I think it is doable. He swings to a .343 ISO/.441 wOBA this season and is of course always a home run threat. You need that from him tonight if you pay up. Joc Pederson is a great play as well. I rank them 1A and 1B on the Dodgers.

Outfield: Mark Canha ($3,400 FD) The A’s are priced pretty good today for what I expect them to do vs Jordan Zimmerman. The core of this lineup all has the chance to go deep honestly but Canha statistically has the best shot. He hits to a .274 ISO/.418 wOBA with 17 homers on the season vs righties. Get him in your Oakland MLB DFS stacks.

Outfield Pivots: Ronald Acuna, Ramon Laureano, Matt Joyce

9/7 MLB DFS Pitching and Prop Picks

After poring over this 9/7 MLB DFS slate it seems to me as though we have one of them nights with several pitchers in great matchups, which for DFS purposes is like finding a needle in a haystack. So, with a whole day of baseball action ahead of us, and some tricky pricing, I bring you today’s pitching picks.

On the Defense

JustinVerlander vs. Seattle Mariners

$12,500 FD / $12,400 DK

Justin Verlander usually comes at a high salary, and this9/7 MLB DFS slate is no different. So, unless you have access to a DFS paymentplan for salaries he is going to be tough to fit in tonight, especially on DK. Regardless,he is facing a Mariners team striking out 24.8 percent of the time versus RHPs.That last time Verlander faced the Mariners he had 10 strikeouts over sixinnings while only allowing one earned run. This is without a doubt the safestplay on the slate, and the most difficult to use.

JakeOdorizzi vs. Cleveland Indians

$8,900 FD / $10,200 DK

With Andrew Heaney only being $900 less on DK than Odorizzihe shines as the clear cut second SP1 option on this 9/7 MLB DFS slate. Despitethe tribe fairing well this season versus RHPs carrying a .329 wOBA, they stillwhiff more than 20 percent of the time. With Jake from State Farm posting a1.06 ERA with 19 strikeouts over 17 innings this season versus the Indians, Iam all in here tonight.

Tony Gonsolinvs. San Francisco Giants

$6,400 FD / $8,600 DK

Two things are self-evident on this 9/7 MLB DFS slate, TonyGonsolin is the first guy since Tom Selleck to make the moustache look goodagain, and his price on FD is extremely low facing a Giants team with a wRC+ of58 over the last seven days. Over his last 24 innings pitched spanning fivestarts, moustache Tony has only allowed five earned runs while striking out 19batters. This includes a start in Colorado. On DK tonight, with no Coors Fieldgame on the slate, I would try and find a way to pair him with Odorizzi leavingyou with $3,900 per player to start with.

AustinVoth vs. Atlanta Braves

$7,000 FD / $7,200 DK

Here is where we enter the high-risk portion of this 9/7 MLBDFS pitching article. Although the Braves are striking out 23.3 percent of thetime versus RHPs, they also post .328 wOBA which is 11^th in MLB. Theamount of innings Voth will pitch tonight is my biggest concern as he has onlypitched more than five innings twice in his first five starts. Luckily for usone was versus this Braves team where he struck out seven batters over sixinnings while only allowing two earned runs. I will be using hm tonight as mySP2 in GPP play.

JeffHoffman vs. San Diego Padres

$5,500 FD / $5,100 DK

Talk about a boom-or-bust GPP play on this 9/7 MLB DFS slate. Hoffman is facing a Padres team tonight striking out 26.5 percent of the time versus RHPs, with a low .298 wOBA. In his last state facing the Padres in Colorado Hoffman went five innings allowing one earned run with only two strikeouts. With an extreme park shift tonight in San Diego I am totally going to take a shot here and bat load a lineup or two.

TylerBeede vs. Los Angeles Dodgers

After a tough loss last night in this historic rivalry, theDodger bats are going to come out swinging tonight. Beede has allowed four ormore earned runs in in five of his last eight starts, never surrendering lessthan three. With the Dodgers onlystriking out 20.9 percent of the time versus RHPs (26^th in MLB), anda .342 wOBA, Beede is going to get walloped.

Notable Bats

Cody Bellinger absolutely mashes opposing pitchersand is batting .316 over the last seven with two home runs.

Joc Pederson is batting .727 with five home runs andnine RBI over the last seven days while posting a wOBA of .379 versus RHPs.

Matt Beaty has been in a bit of slump as of late, batting .167 with one home run over the last seven days but comes at a reduced price and currently has a .372 wOBA versus RHPs.

Yusei Kikuchi vs. Houston Astros

In Kikuchi’s last two starts versus the Astros he has allowed nine earned runs over nine innings. With Houston coming in 1^st in MLB offensively versus LHPs posting a killer wRC+ of 138, which is a full 12 points higher than the Twins coming in at 2^nd, all bats are in play here.

Notable Bats

Jose Altuve has an incredible .486 wOBA versus LHPs,with a wRC+ of 215. He is a top play any night versus lefties.

Alex Bregman is batting .435 with a home run and sevenRBI over his last seven games while posting a .436 wOBA versus LHPs thisseason.

Robinson Chirinos comes in at a value most nights inan expensive Houston lineup. He also has a .400 wOBA versus LHPs with a wRC+ of157. Easily my top catcher play of the night.

DylanCovey vs. Los Angeles Angels

How about a pitcher who has allowed eight earned runs overhis last 4 2/3 innings, including a start versus the Tigers? Yup, here he is.With a whole lot of action heading towards the Astros and Dodgers offensetonight, the Angels should provide some value facing a scrub like Covey.

Notable Bats (besides Mike Trout)

Brian Goodwin may not be a flashy name but he doeshave a wOBA of .356 versus RHPs. He is also batting .333 with a home run andseven RBI over the last seven days while finding himself in the lineup on aregular basis as of late.

Kole Calhoun is another player that also comes in at a nice salary most nights and as a bonus has a home run off Covey in a small sample size. He also has gone nine straight games without putting one in the seats, which I see changing tonight in the cleanup spot.

With Beede in a tough start tonight in Los Angeles, and Bellinger having the ability on a nightly basis to draw walks, and mash baseballs, I am going with the over here.

Although Posey’s splits favor RHPs, he has yet to face mustache Tony, which often leads to an 0-for-something.

On our Thursday 9/5 DFS 7:05 main slate, there are seven ballgames – with one that stands out as a good single-game stack with a couple one-offs (a hot-hitting Cub and some RHBs on the lefty-mashing Houston buzzsaw). Are we ready to, once again, embrace the variance and win some green? You bet we are – and there’s enough pitching value to fade the top arms and build a lineup with serious studs.

9/5 DFS Hitting Stacks of the Day

Boston Red Sox vs. Martin Perez

Most of this stack’s full-bodied components will be discussed hitterby hitter in greater detail below, but this is my top stack of the slate and I’llhave plenty of exposure to this game in general. The usual suspects apply. TheRed Sox are slashing a robust .285/.355/.506 at home this season and there’s nobodyI’d be careful to avoid.

Minnesota Twins at Nathan Eovaldi

The Twins have a little tougher matchup as they are underdogs inFenway Park, but they’d slashed .319/.384/.584 as a team over the past 7 daysheading into last night’s tough matchup vs. Eduardo Rodriguez (which resultedin a 6-2 loss). Look for the Twins to rebound in a big way against a hittable Eovaldi(6.23 ERA, 5.62 FIP). I like the outfielders (though Max Kepler was removedfrom last night’s game with upper chest soreness) and the slugging infielders (JorgePolanco, Miguel Sano, C.J. Cron, Luis Arraez).

Houston Astros vs. Marco Gonzales

Jose Altuve, Alex Bregman and Yuri Gurriel make up the core of this stack, with Michael Brantley and/or Yordan Alvarez rounding it out on FD/DK. But if you’ve only got room for hitters like Aledmys Diaz, Abraham Toro and cheap catching option Robinson Chirinos, there’s still plenty of reason to get excited. The Astros has demolished LHPs this season to the tune of a 133 wRC+ and have great number sat home (.217 team ISO with just an 18.8% K rate – the second lowest in the league).

Chicago Cubs at Chase Anderson (Reverse splits pitcher and an implied total near 5 runs)

Baltimore Orioles vs. Kolby Allard (high-risk/value/contrarian)

Tampa Rays vs. Trent Thornton (high-risk/value/contrarian)

9/5 DFS Hitting Catcher

Jason Castro, MIN at BOS UPDATE: Castro is not in the starting lineup

PIVOT: Robinson Chirinos, HOU vs. SEA

DK ($3,400) FD ($3,000)

With Castro starting this game out on the bench, I’m pivoting to Chirinos. He’s about the same price and offers similar upside in this matchup. Chirinos sports a .444 xwOBA in 174 ABs (217 plate appearances) vs. LHPs over the past couple of seasons.

9/5 DFS Hitting First Baseman

Yuri Gurriel, HOU vs. SEA

DK ($4,300) FD ($3,600)

Gurriel has cooled off a little bit since his insane July (.408/.437/.847 in 24 games), but not much, as he posted a .344/.423/.677 slash in August. He’s actually a little better against RHPs but maintains a .237 ISO vs. lefties, so he’s maybe a tad contrarian if you’re mini-stacking stacking Astros along with Boston bats. The .298 home ISO and 148 home wRC+ make him an attractive option.

9/5 DFS Hitting Second Baseman

Jose Altuve, HOU vs. SEA

DK ($4,500) FD ($4,300)

Altuve (.302/.369/.599 with 14 HR at home this season) isunderpriced on DK and the Astros have the second highest implied total (about 6runs) on the evening slate. The diminutive slugger has been in a bit of a funk withno XBH on the five-game road trip, but a return to friendlier confines could bejust what he needs. It’s hard to find better implied value at this position, sowhy look past the five-and-a-half footer if we’re putting our best foot forward?

9/5 DFS Hitting Third Baseman

Rafael Devers, BOS vs. MIN

DK ($5,300) FD($4,100)

Lefty on lefty for Devers hasn’t bothered me since he took AroldisChapman deep as a youngster for the Sox, and he’ll be an overlooked part of theBoston stack and low-owned because of it. He’s completely avoidable if you’renot stacking this team, but I love going with Devers at 3B because he’s alwaysin the thick of this offense and his production this season (.320/.369/.579 slashwith 29 HR and 107 RBI) shows it.

9/5 DFS Hitting Shortstop

Xander Bogaerts, BOS vs. MIN

DK ($5,300) FD ($4,100)

We’ve had success recently with Bogaerts, and this is agreat matchup for the power-hitting SS to show off his .416 xwOBA against LHPs overthe past two seasons. Martin Perez isn’t a bad pitcher these days, but he has stillyielded a .184 ISO and .865 OPS since 2018. I’ve been doing well not overthinkingon Xander, so that’ll continue as I plug him into most of my lineups at SS. Thesomewhat underpriced Alex Bregman ($4,900 DK, $4,400 FD) is the obvious pivotat 3B and SS if you’re not anxious play both Devers and Bogaerts.

9/5 DFS Hitting Outfielders

Mookie Betts, BOS vs. MIN

DK ($5,000) FD ($4,200)

Bettshad a monster game last night and when Mookie gets hot, you continue to playhim. Boston’s leadoff hitter connected for a couple homers last night en routeto a 4-for-5, five RBI night. He’s still underpriced at $5K on DK and is a Benjamincheaper than J.D. Martinez on FD. Since the start of 2018, Betts is sporting anxwOBA of .430 against LHPs and even if Perez gets yanked early, a righthander faceseven more obscene Betts data (.468 xwOBA vs. RHPs and home xwOBA of .478).

Nicholas Castellanos, CHI at MIL

DK ($4,500) FD ($3,500)

Mr. Castellanos has taken the Windy City by storm, and he getsto travel to Milwaukee to hit in a controlled environment. The problem is thatthese walls cannot possibly contain him either, and he’s been a revelatory offensivepowerhouse since joining the Cubs in a deadline deal, slashing .346/.378/.709 witha ridiculous .362 ISO, .439 wOBA, 12 homers and 24 RBI in just 31 games. It’snot just Wrigley, either: the bell-ringer has split his dingers 6/6 betweenhome and road. Plus, he’s massively underpriced facing a reverse-splits righty (ChaseAnderson) on a small slate. It’ll be tough to leave him out in any format.

Sam Travis, BOS vs. MIN

DK ($3,300) FD (1B $2,800)

The Sox are my favorite team and Travis is much-welcomed valueto help you finish them off on FD with these four hitters I’ve listed, or even addin another bat on DK if you’re going that route. He hits lefties well (.382 xwOBA,.200 ISO and under a 20% strikeout rate over the past two seasons). He’s higherrisk and may attract some ownership, but at that low, low price I’ll make roomto differentiate elsewhere.

C: Wilson Contreras ($4,200 DK, $3,100 FD), Travis d’Arnaud($4,000 DK, $2,700 FD)

1B: Josh Bell ($4,800 DK, $4,200 FD), Garrett Cooper (valueat $3,500 DK, $2,700 FD)

2B: Jonathan Schoop ($4,600 DK, $3,100 FD), Starlin Castro($3,500 DK, $3,000 FD)

3B: Abraham Toro ($2,600 DK, $3,200 FD, Miguel Sano ($5,100DK, $3,900 FD)

SS: Alex Bregman, Jonathan Villar ($4,700 DK, $3,400 FD)and possibly Javier Baez (thumb, DTD – $4,600 DK, $4,100)
