Stack Report for MLB Main Slate: Winning Edge for July 15

This report will provide recommended DFS stacks for today’s 10-game main slate. I will also include my favorite pitching picks.

**All plays are listed in order of preference. Please check back between 5-6 PM EST as some players can receive rest days or get limited at bats especially as we get closer we get to the postseason.

Cleveland Indians Stack

vs. LHP Daniel Norris (DET): 6.30 Runs

Daniel Norris takes the mound in Cleveland this evening. He carries a 4.96 ERA, 4.62 FIP, and 4.71 ERA into tonight’s matchup. We get a nice little recipe here with his reverse splits. Left handed batters are slashing to a .367 wOBA, .540 SLG, and .343 OBP across 16 innings pitched. He has allowed 13 runs in that short span. His 40% hard contact rate and 40% pull rate combined with his shakiness to lefties can make for some easy liners to right field. Norris racked up eight strikeouts but gave up six earned runs in his last meeting with Cleveland. Cleveland batters are hitting below their season averages this month, slashing to a .309 wOBA, .154 ISO, and 88 WRC+. These numbers aren’t typically what we look for but they’re in the worst part of their slump and this is a good opportunity to bust out of it.

Preferred Stack: Roberto Perez ($2700 FD|$4100 DK), Jordan Luplow ($2500 FD|$3900 DK), Carlos Santana ($3800 FD|$5000 DK), and Francisco Lindor ($4000 FD|$4900 DK).

Colorado Rockies Stack

vs. RHP Derek Rodriguez (SFG):

Dereck Rodriguez was called up from AAA as the 26th man ahead of today’s doubleheader. He carries a 5.27 ERA, 5.57 FIP, and 5.46 SIERA across 57 innings pitched into tonight’s game. He has struggled both to righties and lefties, allowing a .338 wOBA, .462 SLG, and 46% hard contact rate. The Rockies batting averages are creeping up again on this home stand and should continue to rise this evening. They are slashing to a .349 wOBA, .193 ISO, and .457 SLG against right handed pitching recently and the studs in this lineup are coming off a rest day.

Every stack report in the industry is going to have the Giants and Rockies. Ownership almost always levitates to Coors, especially when you have Dereck Rodriguez (SFG) and Chi Chi Gonzalez (COL) pitching. Going to be a lot of ownership on both sides here ,so I am not writing up the Giants in detail for that purpose, but I’ve included my preferred stack if you decide to go with the masses tonight.

Los Angeles Dodgers Stack

vs. RHP Zach Eflin (PHI): 5.40 Runs

I imagine ownership here will be higher as well. It’s not very often we get the Dodgers so early in the evening. Zach Eflin carries a 3.78 ERA, 4.66 FIP, and 4.70 SIERA into tonight’s matchup. Left handed batters are slashing to a .357 wOBA, .544 SLG, and .333 OBP. He has allowed 22 earned runs and 11 home runs across 43 innings pitched to lefties as well. The only concern I really have with Dodgers batters here is a possible hangover from last night’s game. The Dodgers are slashing .to a 335 wOBA, .209 ISO, and 109 WRC+ vs. right handed pitching over the last month.

Preferred Stack:Max Muncy ($3800 FD|$4600 DK), Alex Verdugo ($3100 FD|$4100 DK), Cody Bellinger ($4800 FD|$5100 DK), and Joc Pederson ($2600 FD|$4200 DK).

Boston Red Sox Stack

vs. RHP Trent Thornton (TOR): 6.25 Runs

The Red Sox get another cupcake matchup against Thornton. They have faced him twice this season, his first outing in Boston when he allowed only two earned runs and a recent second outing in Toronto in which he allowed seven earned runs. This Red Sox team is hitting very well recently. They are slashing .372 wOBA, .254 ISO, and 129 WRC+. I have the same concern with the Red Sox as with the Dodgers. They played late last night but they do get the benefit at being at home. Trent Thornton has a 4.85 ERA, 4.41 FIP, and 4.75 ERA on the year. He has identical splits, allowing batters to slash to a .332 wOBA, .321 BABIP, and .444 SLG.

Preferred Stack: Rafael Devers ($4100 FD|$5500 DK), Xander Bogaerts ($4400 FD|$5300 DK), Mookie Betts ($4200 FD|$4800 DK), and Christian Vazquez ($2900 FD|$4700 DK).

Honorable Mention

Houston Astros vs. RHP Griffin Canning (LAA): 4.90 Runs

Preferred Stack: Alex Bregman ($4200 FD|$4400 DK), Yordan Alvarez ($4300 FD|$4800 DK), Michael Brantley ($3900 FD|$4000 DK), and Yuli Gurriel ($3800 FD|$4200 DK).

Toronto Blue Jays vs. RHP Rick Porcello (BOS): 4.25 Runs

Preferred Stack: Freddy Galvis ($3200 FD|$4300 DK), Cavan Biggio ($3700 FD|$4500 DK), Eric Sogard ($3300 FD|$4700 DK), and Lourdes Gurriel Jr. ($3800 FD|$5300 DK).

Pitching

RHP Adam Plutko vs. DET: 4.20 Runs
RHP Lucas Giolito vs. KCR: 4.40 Runs
LHP James Paxton vs. TAM: 4.00 Runs

DFS Top Hitters and Prop Picks for 7/15: Don’t Dodge the Tribe

This is my first DFS hitting article after the break and I’m ecstatic to be back. What I’m really excited about is to get back into the prop groove, with another Monkey Knife Fight pick for you. With the Rockies and Giants playing a doubleheader, we’re going to avoid that game. You all know that the bats are in play at Coors Field, so let’s find you some other values around the Majors.

Catcher

Roberto Perez, CLE vs. DET

DK ($4,100) FD ($2,700)

It’s always tough to pick a catcher, but Perez makes for a great option with his recent form. Over his last 38 games, Perez has a .614 SLG and .980 OPS. Those are great numbers for anyone, let alone a catcher. What really makes him enticing here is that he gets to face a lefty, with Perez generating a .615 SLG and 1.018 OPS with the platoon advantage in his favor. Daniel Norris is definitely a guy we want to stack against too, and we’ll go over that later in the article.

First Base

Justin Smoak, TOR at BOS

DK ($3,900) FD ($2,900)

Smoak is a guy that you need to keep an eye on for DFS purposes in the second half. This dude is literally the unluckiest hitter in the league and it’s just a matter of time before he sees some positive regression. That’s evident by the fact that he has a .513 xSLG and .389 xwOBA, which are way off his .413 SLG and .336 wOBA. That makes me believe that a hot streak is right around the corner and it could start against Rick Porcello. Not only does Smoak have a .374 OBP and .868 OPS against right-handers this season, Porcello is also providing an ugly 5.33 ERA and 1.42 WHIP.

Second Base

Keston Hiura, MIL vs. ATL

DK ($4,600) FD ($3,300)

Hiura just usurped Travis Shaw as the second baseman for Milwaukee and it’s scary just how much potential this little masher has. Let’s start with his absurd minor league numbers, with Hiura generating a .330 AVG and 1.090 OPS at Triple-A this season. A .284 AVG and .882 OPS at the MLB level shows that it’s no fluke and it’s scary to think how good this guy can be. What we like here is that he gets the platoon advantage against Max Fried, who’s pitching to a 6.17 ERA and 1.80 WHIP over his last eight starts. Keep an eye on this guy for the future for both DFS and season-long formats

Third Base

Josh Donaldson, ATL at MIL

DK ($5,100) FD ($3,500)

Donaldson has been in more of my articles than any other player and this increase in price shows that we’re doing something right. It’s actually getting to the point where he’s hard to trust but we can’t fade a guy who’s this hot. Over his last 27 games, Donaldson has 13 homers and 26 RBI en route to a .740 SLG and 1.125 OPS. That’s the MVP Donaldson that we loved in his days with Toronto and it’s clear that his power stroke is fully back. Getting to hit in Miller Park should only help, as that’s easily one of the best hitter’s parks in the league.

Shortstop

Corey Seager, LAD at PHI

DK ($4,200) FD ($3,100)

Seager hasn’t given us a whole lot of reason to use him in DFS this season but this price is too cheap for someone of his abilities. We’re still talking about a guy with a career .297 AVG, .364 wOBA and .844 OPS. That’s way too good for someone priced this cheaply and it’s just a matter of time before he starts raking. Getting to face a weak righty in a hitter’s haven like Citizens Bank Park is a good way to start a hot streak, with Zach Eflin pitching to a 4.78 xFIP and 1.30 WHIP this season.

Outfield

Joc Pederson, LAD at PHI

DK ($4,200) FD ($2,600)

Pederson has been mired in a bit of a slump but he’s always worth using against a right-hander. Joc leads off against righties, which is huge for a lineup that is projected for more than five runs. Pederson has been doing some serious damage when facing righties, posting a .556 SLG and .904 OPS with the platoon advantage in his favor. As we discussed in the Seager write-up, Eflin is not a guy we’re worried about either.

Jordan Luplow, CLE vs. DET

DK ($3,900) FD ($2,500)

These DFS prices made my jaw drop to the floor and I’ll have more stock in Luplow than any other player on this slate. The simple fact is, Luplow destroys left-handers. In fact, the righty masher is posting a .417 OBP, .691 SLG and 1.108 OPS against southpaws so far this season. That’s why he typically bats cleanup in these circumstances and that’s huge against a guy like Daniel Norris. The Tigers lefty is pitching to 4.96 ERA and 1.42 WHIP and will surely struggle with Luplow.

Eloy Jimenez, CWS at KC

DK ($4,000) FD ($3,100)

Much like Donaldson, I have been on Eloy for DFS purposes for over a month now. As someone who follows prospects closely, I can tell you that this is one of the greatest hitters in our game. That was evident when he posted an ISO in the .300 range at the minor league level while approaching an OPS of 1.000. The power potential is clearly there and recent results would indicate that he’s finally getting comfortable at this level. Over his last 26 games, Eloy has collected 10 homers and 24 RBI en route to a .624 SLG and .976 OPS. That raving success should continue against Jakob Junis, who is pitching to a 5.33 ERA and 1.45 WHIP so far this season.

Corey Seager/Cody Bellinger/Max Muncy Over 3.5 Hits

This one is self-explanatory when looking at the DFS writeups, as the Dodgers are one of the highest projected offenses on this slate. Zach Eflin’s 4.78 xFIP and 1.30 WHIP is the main reason why and they should cruise to double-digit hits in a ballpark like CBP.

DFS Hitters and Stacks for June 30th

Sunday’s MLB action will include a couple of DFS studs on the bump in Max Scherzer and Gerrit Cole. But it will also include plenty of pitchers that you can exploit when building your Daily Fantasy Sports lineups.

Catcher – Yasmani Grandal vs. Steven Brault

FanDuel: $3,500 DraftKings: $4,800

The Brewers’ catcher has a .284 ISO versus left-handed pitchers in 2019. Grandal also has a .385 wOBA against lefties. Grandal should take advantage and keep crushing righties in this one while leading your DFS lineup to the green.

Value:

Buster Posey

DraftKings: $3,000

First Base – Joc Pederson vs. Chi Chi Gonzalez

FanDuel: $4,000

Pederson has a .340 ISO and a .379 wOBA against right-handed pitching this season. And now he faces a below league average pitcher in Coors Field. If playing on DraftKings, the Chicago Cubs’ Anthony Rizzo is your play. Either option should do just fine for your DFS hopes.

Jesus Aguilar

FanDuel: $2,500 DraftKings: $3,300

Second Base – Mike Moustakas vs. Steven Brault

FanDuel: $3,800 DraftKings: $5,100

The Brewers’ Moustakas has a .315 ISO, a .393 wOBA and a 142 wRC+ versus left-handed pitching in 2019. Look for those numbers to jump up after this meeting with Brault. The lefty is allowing a .374 wOBA against right-handed batters this season. Moustakas is a great DFS option on Sunday.

Keston Hiura

FanDuel: $2,600

Tommy Edman

DraftKings: $2,300

Third Base – Justin Turner vs. Chi Chi Gonzalez

FanDuel: $3,900

The Dodgers third baseman has a .374 wOBA versus right-handed pitching in 2019. If playing on DraftKings, your preferred third base play is the Nationals’ Anthony Rendon. Both third basemen are good DFS options.

Value:

Vladimir Guerrero Jr.

FanDuel: $3,000 DraftKings: $3,500

Shortstop – Trea Turner vs.Jordan Zimmermann

FanDuel: $4,400 DraftKings: $5,300

Zimmermann has a 5.20 xFIP against righties. Turner has a .238 ISO and a .356 wOBA versus right-handed pitchers in 2019. Turner should be plenty good enough for your DFS lineups.

Value:

Tommy Edman

FanDuel: $2,500

Jose Peraza

DraftKings: $3,100

Outfield – Cody Bellinger vs. Chi Chi Gonzalez

FanDuel: $5,200 DraftKings:

Bellinger has a .356 ISO and a .457 wOBA versus right-handed pitching. Look for Bellinger to produce big DFS numbers on Sunday.

Outfield – Kyle Schwarber vs. Anthony DeSclafani

FanDuel: $3,300 Draftkings: $4,200

Schwarber has a .244 ISO against right-handed pitching in 2019. He should add excellent value to your DFS entries.

Value:

Ryan Braun

FanDuel: $3,100

Bobby Bradley

FanDuel: $2,200

Stephen Piscotty

DraftKings: $3,600

Top Stacks

Cleveland Indians:

After letting us down yesterday, the Indians’ offense will look to get back in good graces today. And Cleveland should have no problem doing just that with Baltimore’s Gabriel Ynoa taking the bump. The Orioles’ right-hander has a 5.17 SIERA and a 5.54 xFIP this season. With Ynoa allowing 2.38 HR/9 this year, expect us to be much happier with Cleveland and our DFS lineups at the end of the day Sunday.

Chicago Cubs:

A flyball pitcher (41.6%) that allows a lot of hard contact (44.6%) seems like a good place to start a stack. The Reds’ Anthony DeSclafani seems to be the perfect pitcher to attack with your DFS lineups. The Reds’ starter has a 4.44 xFIP and a 4.27 SIERA this season.

Milwaukee Brewers:

The Brewers have crushed left-handed pitching all season. As an offense, Milwaukee has a .210 ISO against lefties. The Pirates’ Steven Brault should be no match for the Brewers. The Pirates’ pitcher is not missing any bats this season with a low 9.8% swinging strike rate. The Brewers should put plenty of balls in play with success on Sunday. Milwaukee is a very suitable stack for DFS purposes today.

Los Angeles Dodgers:

Any time you can get the Dodgers against a righty, you fill up your DFS lineups with Dodger Blue. Los Angles has .216 ISO and a .347 wOBA versus righties this season. The Rockies’ Chi Chi Gonzalez could be in trouble in this one.

DFS Stacks for 6/28: Crack a cold Brew

With both Coors and Miller hosting games that could turn into high-scoring affairs, there might be a lot of cracking cold brews as we watch the numbers turn on the scoreboard and in our DFS lineups.

1.) Los Angeles Dodgers

Antonio Senzatela is no more than a below average pitcher. At Coors this season he holds a 6.21 ERA and has given up five long balls. What doesn’t help his case is that he struggles against lefties. So far this season he has given up a .336 BAA and a .531 SLG. With the likes of Joc Pederson, Max Muncy, Cody Bellinger and Alex Verdugo, good luck. The Dodgers are going to have a field day and carry your DFS lineups.

2.) Minnesota Twins

Carson Fulmer has had a horrible start to his young career. So far while at home in his career he holds a 7.81 ERA with a .390 wOBA. He is able to limit his hard contact, but he gives up massive fly ball rates. With the power hitters of Eddie Rosario, Nelson Cruz, CJ Cron and Jorge Polanco, there is no reason why they won’t chase Fulmer back to the minor leagues on your way to winning big in DFS.

3.) San Diego Padres

What a downfall for Michael Wacha. Someone with such promising talent that just lost it all this year. On the road so far this season he holds a 5.21 ERA. So far this season he has been very reverse splits and cannot get a righty out for the life of him. Against righties he has a .338 BAA and a .619 SLG. Hunter Renfroe, Manny Machado and the young phenom in Tatis Jr. should be the staples of your DFS stack here.

4.) Milwaukee Brewers

How bad are the Pirates regretting this Chris Archer Trade? Holllllllllly. Archer has been dreadful this year, but he has been even worse away from Pittsburgh (8.42 ERA). It seems like Archer has been better against lefties, but the underlying numbers show that he gets hit harder, more fly balls and strikes them out less. This makes me love Yelich, Mouse, Grandal and I also don’t mind throwing in Braun for DFS purposes. This is a very sneaky stack for me as I assume everyone will jump all over Coors.

DFS Hitting/Monkey Knife Fight Picks- Dodgers and Rockies in Coors

It’s a strange Thursday DFS slate with 10 games, but at least there is a Coors game between the Dodgers and the Rockies! Two of the most well-known teams in MLB in the Yankees and the Red Sox are traveling (or have already arrived at this point) to London, England in preparation for a historic, two-game series in one of the most prestigious cities in the world. Temperatures are going to be hot in Coors so the ball will carry even better than normal.

First Basemen

Joc Pederson, FanDuel Only ($4,100): For whatever reason, FanDuel has Joc Pederson as a First Baseman at Coors Field as the Dodgers visit the Rockies. Well isn’t that convenient ladies and gentlemen! He will be batting leadoff for the Dodgers, and with warm temperatures at Coors, expect the ball to carry well. Obviously, he is in his correct position on DraftKings so on that site let’s go with his Dodgers teammate Max Muncy ($5,600 DK). Both players are notorious righty mashers with 20 and 11 HRs, respectively, on the season. By the way, Muncy is listed as a second basemen on FanDuel. Peter Lambert has been blasted in his first two career starts at Coors so we can expect the same in this start.

Second Basemen

Luis Arraez, Rays at Twins ($2,600 FD, $3,500 DK): In only 17 games, Arraez is hitting .436 on 17 hits in 39 ABs with three doubles, eight walks, eight runs scored, four RBIs and a home run. To be able to afford some big bats from the Dodgers and Rockies game in Coors, you are going to need some bargains. Facing a likely bullpen game, this left-handed batter from Venezuela will likely start the game as long as a right-handed opens for the Rays.

Shortstop

Garrett Hampson, Dodgers at Rockies ($2,700 FD, $3,300 DK but listed as a 2B/OF): This top-prospect was recently recalled from the minors and seems ready this time. On Wednesday, Hampson went two for four with two runs, a double and a stolen base. With Brandon Rodgers joining Trevor Story on the IL, shortstop is Hampson’s position for the foreseeable future. The only issue the Rockies face tonight is ace right-handed Walker Buehler of the Dodgers.

Third Basemen

Justin Turner, Dodgers at Rockies ($3,900 FD,$4,900 DK): Dodgers third baseman Turner is a reverse-splits guy, meaning he hits righties better than lefties even though he himself is a right-handed batter. Turner’s batting average and OPS against righties is considerably better than against lefties. Probably batting third in the order behind Pederson and Muncy, this Dodger stud will get plenty of opportunities to produce.

Outfielders

Dominic Smith, Mets at Phillies ($2,400 FD, $4,100 DK): Just pencil him in into your all-day FD lineup. Dominic is also first base eligible on DK to give you extra flexibility. There are fewer hotter bats in the league and the savings he gives you allows you to get those Coors bats you want. Smith has hit home runs in three consecutive games and reached base four times in last night’s game. With temperatures expected to be near 90 degrees for this afternoon game, expect the ball to be flying out of Citizens Bank Park.

Kyle Schwarber, Braves at Cubs ($3,200 FD, $3,600 DK): For as much power as Schwarber possesses, his price is extremely affordable. Throw in the fact that he will be playing in an afternoon game with temperatures in the 80s and against an unproven Braves starter in Bryse Wilson. His WHIP is over two in a tiny sample size, Schwarber could be in for a good game.

DFS Hitting Picks for 6/26: Phill Ins and More
