This article focuses on 5/8 EPL Picks for DraftKings and FanDuel Sportsbook and FanDuel and DraftKings Daily Fantasy. We consider tournament tactics, statistics, pricing, and attempt to tackle this highly variable Daily Fantasy format. The goal is to gain an edge on the field at large.

Saturday 5/8 EPL Slate and DFS Gameplan

Welcome back as we continued to wind down EPL Saturdays with Matchweek 35/38.

The first game should be an absolute snooze fest between this pair of bottom barrel teams. I guess as Austin might say, “Up the Palace!”.

Following that, we have a dramatic shift to a preview of the Champion’s League Final between Manchester City and Chelsea. Both of these teams are coming in very confident and the result should be entertaining.

Finally, we have Liverpool as an insane -345 favorite hosting an injury-depleted Southampton team. Minus the likes of Danny Ings, I get it a little, but I think the odds are very generous for the Reds. Particularly given their form this season.

These odds may be based more on reputation and the game being played at Anfield than current form. Either way, on a slate lacking great options, both Mohammed Salah and Trent Alexander-Arnold seem like building blocks.

Notable Goal Scoring Odds

Note: Many of these players will not end up starting, but their goal odds are listed just in case. If they do not end up starting, disregard them. All odds listed +300 or below and projected starters are listed in bold.

Crystal Palace (+148) at Sheffield United (+195) – Wilfried Zaha (+215), Christian Benteke (+225), Jean-Philippe Mateta (+225), David McGoldrick (+265), Michy Batshuayi (+260), Rhian Brewster (+265), Lys Mousset (+265)

Chelsea (+330) at Manchester City (-112) Sergio Aguero (+185), Gabriel Jesus (+235), Ilkay Gundogan (+250), Raheem Sterling (+250), Riyad Mahrez (+285), Phil Foden (+300), Kevin De Bruyne (+300), Tammy Abraham (+310), Olivier Giroud (+310), Timo Werner (+350), Kai Havertz (+400), Christian Pulisic (+450), Mason Mount (+550)

Southampton (+850) at Liverpool (-345) Mohammed Salah (-155), Diego Jota (-103), Sadio Mane (+133), Roberto Firmino (+165), Xherdan Shaqiri (+265), Che Adams (+400)

EPL Best Odds

*Mason Mount to Score* (+550) – “DraftKings Sportsbook”

DraftKings | FanDuel

The Betting Game Plan

I wouldn’t put a huge wager on this one given Manchester City’s perhaps world best defense. However, Mason Mount is routinely given sub-standard scoring odds compared to some of his teammates. This comes despite his great form.

5/8 EPL FanDuel Rankings “Set pieces less important on FanDuel”

Forward/Midfield

  1. Mohammed Salah – Liverpool – $23
  2. Kevin De Bruyne – Manchester City – $22 “Set Pieces, not projected to start”

  4. Diego Jota – Liverpool – $17
  5. Sadio Mane – Liverpool – $19
  6. Riyad Mahrez – Manchester City – $21
  7. Sergio Aguero – Manchester City – $18
  8. Ilkay Gundogan – Manchester City – $15
  9. Gabriel Jesus – Manchester City – $19
  10. Wilfried Zaha – Crystal Palace – $17
