Thanksgiving DFS – Injury Updates

Bears @ Lions

Jeff Driskel ($5,500) is expected to miss this game with David Blough ($4,200) getting the start. This essentially locks in the Bears DST ($2,500) in all cash games and a chalk option at tight end because this could get out of hand real quick. Blough was the 35th ranked quarterback in passer grade from PFF in his 2018 collegiate season from Purdue. He went undrafted. This news has already driven the total in this game down to 36.5 via the FanDuel Sportsbook and given the Bears another point favorite now at -4.5.

T.J. Hockenson ($3,400) should be good to go, and Jesper Horsted looks to be the primary Bears’ tight end at $2,500. The Lions have a ton of injuries across their defensive line with Trey Flowers, Da’Shawn Hand, and Damon Harrison all banged up and questionable. This spot is shaping up absolutely perfect for David Montgomery ($5,400). The Bears own the league’s best red-zone scoring offense on the road this season at a whopping 90%. Lions at home have the league’s fourth-worst red zone defense.

Bills @ Cowboys

Safety Jeff Heath looks to be on the ends of missing these games which can easily open up things for both Cole Beasley ($4,700) and Dawson Knox ($2,900). Leighton Vander Esch is out again, which hurts the Cowboys run defense.

The most important thing to note about this game is that this game is going to a shootout. The Bills recently moved their offensive coordinator up into the booth and over the past three weeks, they have run the seventh-most plays per game. Dallas runs the eighth-most plays per game at home. They have also been running more 11-personnel formations. The Cowboys have struggled versus that formation allowing a 52% success rate with eight yards per pass attempt and five yards per rush attempt. Have a ton of confidence in Josh Allen ($6,200) in your lineups. Same thing with Dak Prescott ($5,700). The Bills have not faced a top-12 quarterback in fantasy points per game yet this season.

With that considered if Robert Foster ($3,200) misses the Bills will use Isaiah McKenzie ($3,100) as the number three receiver in those formations. Played a season-high 78% of snaps versus Miami followed by 76.2% in Week 12 versus Denver. A third Bills wide receiver might be the best GPP pivot in a game that could see a lot of scoring.

Saints @ Falcons

Julio Jones at $7,300 is questionable, but I think he is going to play. He will get shot up with something to nullify is AC joint pain. He did take part in the walkthrough so he should play. Marshon Lattimore is questionable along with Luke Stocker, and Devonta Freeman will play. Jaeden Graham at tight end would see all the snaps at tight for Atlanta with no Stocker. You will want at least one Falcons receiver at worst ending into the Sunday night tilt. Though the way this game projects it seems more like a Saints onslaught than a back-and-forth game. Saints have a top-seven pass-rush grade and the Falcons have a bottom-seven pass-block grade via PFF.

Week 13! Likely the last week in your season-long league before the playoffs, but we still have plenty of time left to make some money with NFL DFS Cash Games. We’ve had an incredible season so far here at Win Daily and welcome you all in for another week of cashing. We hope all of you enjoy the article and have a wonderful week of Thanksgiving with your loved ones!

My articles will be mainly meant for DraftKings, but you can certainly use this information for other DFS websites. Please check back in on Saturday/Sunday morning for potential NFL DFS Cash Games updates!

If you have any questions and would like some further help when building your lineups, please do not hesitate to reach out to me directly on Twitter. I’m always available to help NFL DFS players make the most of their investments.

Some notes on what I believe to be the “optimal” roster build for NFL DFS Cash Games. I’ll include this in all the Checkdown articles moving forward. For Week 13, please see below for my notes on roster construction:

  • We don’t have to worry about paying ~$10K for Michael Thomas this week as he is off the slate. Lock in a stud at WR1 and then enjoy the value in the mid-tier.
  • My cash build for Week 13 will probably start with Christian McCaffrey. How can you not play him? If you don’t, make sure you have 3 RBs that are going to have a lot of volume and touchdown equity.
  • Plenty of value and positive game-scripts for the cheaper QBs. You can’t go wrong with Mahomes, but you probably don’t need him.
  • Just because a player is not mentioned in this article, does not mean they are not cash viable.

NFL DFS Cash Games Quarterbacks

  1. Patrick Mahomes ($7,400) – Pretty simple here. If you can afford Mahomes, use him. I likely will not be able to afford him in my optimal cash build, but he is 100% the best play on the board for cash if you aren’t considering salary.
  2. Lamar Jackson ($7,000) – How is he not $8k?
  3. Aaron Rodgers ($6,400) – Rodgers has disappointed fantasy players and Packers’ fans as a whole over the last month. This matchup against the Giants is one Rodgers will feast in. Mitch Trubisky was a part of my “Sexy-Six” last weekend simply because he was going up against the Giants (28th in pass DVOA).

Trubisky paid off in Week 12 – imagine what Rodgers will do.
  4. Carson Wentz ($5,800) – Wentz has been incredibly disappointing in 2019… there’s no way of sugarcoating it. At this price, against the 32nd ranked team in the NFL in pass DVOA, you can fire up Wentz with confidence. This is a perfect “get-right” matchup for Wentz who should finally have a somewhat healthy receiving core.
  5. Andy Dalton ($4,700) – Welcome back, Andy Dalton. Dalton was recently named the starter once again for the Cincinnati Bengals after they saw how inept Ryan Finley is. If you need some more salary relief, I’m fine with you using Dalton in cash as he should be fired up to prove himself against a Jets’ defense who usually gets torched via the pass.

NFL DFS Cash Games Running Backs

  1. Christian McCaffrey ($10,500) – Do we need to say anything about Christian McCaffrey? Just lock him in this week.
  2. Saquon Barkley ($7,400) – It looks like the days of locking in Barkley and knowing you’re going to get 15+ points are over (for the time being). I’m not sure I want to play him in cash, but if there’s any matchup to right the ship, it should be this Sunday against the Packers’ run defense who ranks 28th in run DVOA.
  3. Le’Veon Bell ($7,200) – Bell hasn’t been anything special this season but he has been a model of consistency. Bell has produced double-digit DraftKings’ points in each of his past four games and should be primed up to do that again against this Cincinnati Bengals’ defense.

The Bengals have given up an average of over 28 DraftKings’ points per game to opposing running backs this season and just allowed the Steelers’ third-string running back to run for over 90-yards. Bell will probably be a staple in my cash lineups this week.
  4. Miles Sanders ($5,400) / Jordan Howard ($4,700) I’m more interested in rostering Jordan Howard at the discount if he comes into this game 100% healthy. If Howard is ruled out, I think you can get away with using Miles Sanders, but he clearly hasn’t stood out as someone who is going to put up 15+ DraftKings’ points. If there’s any matchup for a blowup game, it’s on Sunday against Miami.
  5. Jonathan Williams ($5,300) – Marlon Mack is out for Week 13, so fire up Johnathan Williams at a discount. Williams was on the field for over 65% of the Colts’ offensive snaps last week and appears to be capable of handling the duties of a three-down workhorse. The Titans’ have been giving up an average of ~33 DraftKings’ points per game over the past month – Williams should be a lock to hit 2.5X value if he gets 60% or more of the snaps.
  6. Ronald Jones ($5,100) – Jacksonville ranks 30th in run DVOA and have been giving up over 40 DraftKings’ points per game to opposing running backs over the last four games… Yikes. Ronald Jones never plays more than 50% of the Bucs’ offensive snaps, but he should get the opportunity to run away with the RB1 job in Tampa Bay this weekend. It’s risky, but the matchup is perfect and the price is right.

Wide Receivers

  1. Davante Adams ($7,000) – At this price, I’m locking in Davante Adams into my cash lineup to ensure I have a strong piece of this Packers’ passing attack versus this Giants’ secondary. Adams is going to see a lot of DeAndre Baker and that is something I want to invest in. I loved Allen Robinson last week for this exact reason and he went off.

I fully expect Rodgers and Adams to put up season-high numbers on this secondary. If Trubisky and Robinson can do it, Rodgers and Adams will have no problems.
  2. D.J. Chark ($6,600) / Dede Westbrook ($5,000) / Chris Conley ($4,500) – No secrets here, just pick one of these Jacksonville receivers going up against these outside corners in Tampa Bay. Price has me leaning towards Conley or Westbrook, but Chark is a stud, so I have no problems with you going there.
  3. Keenan Allen ($6,500) – Keenan Allen will have the best matchup on the field against a solid Denver secondary. We never want to pick on Chris Harris, but Allen gets the softer end of the secondary in the slot against Duke Dawson. Advantage Keenan. I do have some concerns with the pace of this game, but I have Allen projected for six catches for 99 yards. If he can get in the box, he will have a monster day.
  4. DeVante Parker ($5,700) – Parker has gone for double-digit DraftKings’ points in EIGHT straight games. Low-key, this guy is finally breaking out and having a fantasy season to remember. Parker has seen 31 targets over the last three games and should continue to be peppered with targets as the Dolphins play from behind in virtually every game they play.
  5. Sterling Shepard ($4,900) – The Giants are likely going to be chasing points in this game from the get go. Golden Tate is out. Evan Engram is out. Load up Shepard.
  6. Auden Tate ($3,800) – Bottom of the barrel type of play but the volume should be there and Tate has some solid upside in a matchup against this Jets’ secondary.

Tight Ends

  1. Travis Kelce ($7,200) – Kelce is the McCaffrey at the tight-end position. If you can afford him, you play him. No other tight-end on the slate has the floor Kelce does.
  2. Darren Waller ($5,500) – Waller has been a disappointment for fantasy players recently but this is the matchup to play him, and play a lot of him. Assuming the Chiefs can get out to an early lead, Waller is going to heavily targeted in a pass-heavy game script Oakland is forced to turn to.
  3. Jack Doyle ($3,300) – Ebron is now on the IR and Mo Alie-Cox is currently questionable for this game which essentially gives Doyle all of the offensive snaps at tight-end for the Colts.
  4. Tyler Higbee ($2,500) – Absolutely love this price and the matchup against the Cardinals. Realistically, if we use Higbee’s salary relief, the rest of our lineup should have plenty of upside to get us across the pay-line.

Defense/Special Teams

  • Carolina Panthers ($3,800)
  • Philadelphia Eagles ($3,600)
  • Pittsburgh Steelers ($3,500)
  • Indianapolis Colts ($3,200)
  • Baltimore Ravens ($2,800)

We always discuss “getting contrarian” in NFL DFS so it’s about time we posted an article to arm you with some NFL DFS Sleepers. Whether you’re eating or fading this weeks’ chalky plays, here are some players that may help you differentiate in NFL DFS GPP tournaments.

If you read the article and have any questions, please do not hesitate to reach out to me directly on Twitter or sign up for Premium Gold to join our Discord channel.

Like usual, it’s another great week to use 50% or more of your bankroll towards single entry cash games. Please check out my Cash Game Checkdown before you set your DFS lineups for Sunday.

The purpose of this weekly article is to identify players in positive situations that the public may be overlooking in NFL DFS. If you’re going to be playing a lot of chalky players like Le’Veon Bell, Alvin Kamara, Julio Jones, Michael Thomas and some other players with ~30% ownership in Week 12, it’s never a bad idea to find a player or two that will help differentiate your lineup from the rest of the field. Look no further than Stick’s Sleepers.

Week 12 – Stick’s NFL DFS Sleepers

Mitch Trubisky (DK $5,100 / FD $7,000)

Typing out Trubisky’s name almost made me sick, but here he is. This is a much more optimal play for DraftKings at that price tag – so please don’t fire him up like crazy on FanDuel at $7k.

First off, the Giants’ pass defense ranks 28th in DVOA – yikes. If you take out the Week Four game against the Redskins, the Giants’ have given up 28.89 points per game – which is among the worst in the NFL.

In addition to that, this team is giving up and average of ~23 DraftKings’ points per week to opposing QBs (and ~47 to opposing receiving cores) over the past month! Trubisky’s pass attempts (and execution) haven’t really been there on a consistent basis, but if the Giants’ can score some points in this game, Trubisky should have no issues carving up their secondary and finishing around 20 DraftKings’ points – which would put him at 4x value (on DraftKings) at ~2% ownership.

Trubisky isn’t going to break the slate, but you can easily stack him with Allen Robinson or Taylor Gabriel and barely make a dent in your lineup’s salary cap.

Saquon Barkley (DK $7,900 / FD 7,900) & Golden Tate (DK $5,700 / FD $6,400)

No, Saquon Barkley is not a “sleeper” but in Week 12, he’s going to be under 12% owned… I’m in. I clearly am okay with pairing up Trubisky and a Bears’ wide receiver in my NFL DFS GPPs this week and I really like the idea of running it back with Saquon Barkley and/or Golden Tate.

Tate has a matchup against Buster Skrine in the slot and should have no issues tearing him up. Evan Engram is out with injury again and it just so happens that Tate has had his best games of the season in both games Engram.

Week Six: 6 catches – 102 yards – 1 TD
Week 10: 4 catches – 95 yards – 2 TDs

Tate is going to be the most targeted player in the Giants’ passing game and should continue to thrive in Engram’s absence. You can game-stack Trubisky-Robinson-Barkley-Tate and still have plenty of salary left over for guys like Kamara and Julio Jones.

Kenny Golladay (DK $6,600 / FD $7,800)

Kenny Golladay at 3-5% ownership is something I’ll always be interested in. I don’t love the chemistry with Jeff Driskel, but I’m not afraid of it in a GPP format. In terms of “blow-up potential”, Golladay certainly has that (so does Marvin Jones, so this isn’t a lock play by any means) and that is something I look for when adding players into my GPP player pool.

Golladay should see a decent amount of Josh Norman in coverage and that is a matchup I know Golladay can exploit. Can Driskel get him the ball in areas where he can make big plays? I’ll take that risk this week.

Chris Conley (DK $4,100 / FD $5,700)

Conley hit value for us last week in the inaugural Stick’s Sleepers article and he finds his way back into it this week. Conley may not have 20+ point upside, but I have projected for right around 13 DraftKings’ points. I pick on LeShaun Sims as much as possible in DFS and that is the matchup Conley will have most of the day on Sunday. If he can find his way into the end-zone, Conley should make for a nice salary-saving, contrarian GPP play.

NFL DFS Sleepers – Honorable Mention

  • Ben Watson (DK $3,100 / FD $5,300)
  • Tim Patrick (DK $3,000 / FD $5,300)
  • D.K. Metcalf (DK $6,300 / FD $6,700)
  • David Montgomery (DK $5,500 / FD $6,600)
  • Jaylen Samuels (DK $7,200 / FD $6,900)

Javier Prellezo is a terrific guy who just happens to be one of the best multi-sport DFS players on the planet. I’ve lost track of how much he’s won in just the short time I’ve been Director of Content at Win Daily Sports. By my count, it’s just over 200K and that’s a LOT of GREEN American Dollars. Javier took time out of his busy day to chat with us about his DFS career and I hope you enjoy it.

PHIL: How did you get your DFS start?

JAVIER: I got my start in Daily Fantasy Sports roughly 3 years ago. I got contacted by a friend to give it a whirl and use his discount code so I gave it a try. I started really getting into it last year around this time, where I felt the first 2 years were preparing me to give it a go for bigger and better prize pools.

PHIL: Were you always this good and if not, what did you do to get where you are today?

JAVIER: So when my friend contacted me to give it a try, it was mainly a 3 person contest between us and another rival because he definitely wasn’t a buddy.  In the 3 man contest, we’d do $5 per day and I ended up with y a losing record of 17 wins out of the 150+ total contests we played. It was safe to say I wasn’t that good. Since I’m super competitive in life, I told myself that couldn’t happen again. I began researching DFS strategies and sites. My goal was to learn how to beat them in the upcoming baseball season. In doing some small cash games and practicing, I learned the tricks of the trades. In turn, I kept researching and practicing then built my bankroll then started playing more and more. Once I built up even more bankroll, I started higher entry fee tournaments and my love for the game grew to an all time high.

PHIL: Which is your favorite DFS sport and why?

JAVIER: My favorite is the NFL. NFL is hands down the easiest because, in NFL, chalky players are actually good plays in most tournaments. As opposed to NBA, NHL, MLB, the chalk play isn’t necessarily good in both cash and GPP, but in NFL, it is! Also, I enjoy NFL game play because it’s less of a grind than the other sports since they are every day.

PHIL: How much time do you spend daily researching and building lineups?

JAVIER: I’d say I spend about 1-2 hours per day on researching and building lineups. On weekends, I spend even more time. I research, listen to radio shows, update my projections, and work consistently on my mutli-entry approach into large field tournaments.

PHIL: What advice, if any, do you have for newbies or folks who are struggling with winning at DFS?

JAVIER: My advice is to join us at Win Daily Sports and ask questions. Pick all the different pro’s brains and find out what works best for you. We have a private discord channel which grants access to all users to ask questions 24/7/365. I spend more time in discord talking to DFS Pros Jason Mezrahi, David Jones, our team, and our subscribers then I do with most of my friends and family. Once you have done your research, go with your gut and don’t second guess yourself. If you’re losing, change your process and change your contest selection.

PHIL: What are your future DFS plans?

JAVIER: Win a MILLION dollars in one contest. That’s the goal and that’s the plan! Eventually, retire after my second MILLION!! If you see the image below, I came really really really close last week when I finished 3rd. It was my best finish yet!

With results like these, I have no doubt that Javier will win a million and maybe even two. Good luck buddy and it’s a pleasure to have you in the Win Daily Sports family.

Week 12 wasn’t as good as I would have liked it to be. We were on a hot run there for a while with our NFL DFS GPP entries based off of the main stacks on this article, but you can’t win them all. I love the way this Week 12 slate is shaping up, so let’s get right to it.

The purpose of this weekly article is to identify team/game stacks that we are going to use for an NFL DFS GPP. For those of you that don’t know, a “team stack” is simply multiple players from the same team (I rarely ever use more than three players on a given team).

A “game stack” is similar, except we are going to use players from both teams in a given game. Focusing on team stacks and game stacks is incredibly useful in the NFL DFS GPP environment. That being said, let’s get to this week’s top NFL DFS stacks for DraftKings!

Top NFL DFS GPP Game Stacks

Tampa Bay Buccaneers @ Atlanta Falcons (-4) O/U (51)

This game in Atlanta looks to be the only game on the slate with a total higher than 48 points. I’m sure it will be extremely popular, but for good reason. Both of these defenses are pass funnels and both of these defenses rank towards the bottom of the NFL in pass defense DVOA. This game should host a lot of fireworks for DFS players.

The best part about getting exposure to this game is that we know who is going to be involved in the fantasy point production.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers

  • Chris Godwin ($7,200)
  • Mike Evans ($7,300)
  • Jameis Winston ($6,200)
  • Scotty Miller ($3,100) – Not sure what to think about Scotty Miller. Let’s classify him as an absolute punt-play who we should probably wait on. Week 11 was only the second time all year he cracked 50% of the snaps.

Atlanta Falcons

  • Julio Jones ($8,000)
  • Matt Ryan ($6,700)
  • Calvin Ridley ($6,500)

Seattle Seahawks @ Philadelphia Eagles (-2) O/U (48)

No longer interested in this game stack. Pivoting to Miami @ Cleveland. Will have some exposure to both teams, but will be underweight here.

The second game that I’m interested in stacking is going to be in Philadelphia. I’m undecided on what I think the pace of this game will play at, but there are plenty of playmakers in this game that should make for a nice game stack. Keep an eye on the status of Tyler Lockett as he is clearly one of the most appealing targets to use in DFS from this matchup.

Top NFL DFS GPP Team Stacks

Cleveland Browns

I didn’t think I’d ever write-up the Cleveland Browns, but they are currently sitting with a 28-point implied total and obviously have a lot of negativity going around in the media. This should be a statement game. This should be a game where Baker Mayfield and the Browns offense go off.

Miami ranks 32nd in pass defense DVOA and 29th against the run. As of now, this is my favorite stack to invest in outside of Tampa Bay @ Atlanta.

  • Odell Beckham ($7,000)
  • Jarvis Landry ($6,300)
  • Nick Chubb ($8,100)
  • Baker Mayfield ($5,900)
  • Kareem Hunt ($5,600)

Miami Dolphins

I definitely don’t love the Dolphins by any means, but I do like this game’s chances at going well over the total of 45.5 points. Cleveland should be able to score at will and this Cleveland defense is banged up. Miami should be able to push the pace here and put up points.

  • DeVante Parker ($5,200)
  • Mike Gesicki ($3,400)
  • Ryan Fitzpatrick ($5,000)
  • Allen Hurns ($3,300)
  • Kalen Ballage ($4,400) – Not high on him at all.
  • Patrick Laird ($3,400) – Punt play.

Detroit Lions

If you’re looking for some salary relief that offers a lot of upsides, give the Lions a serious look in your large-field GPPs. The Lions currently have an implied total of 23 points and rising. I probably won’t use three Lions in the same lineup, but I have a lot of interest in Kenny Golladay this week who should see a lot of Josh Norman.

  • Kenny Golladay ($6,600) – Top Five GPP WR play for me this week (assuming he’s around 5-8% ownership).
  • Jeff Driskel ($5,500)
  • Marvin Jones Jr. ($6,100)
  • T.J. Hockenson ($6,100)
  • Bo Scarbrough ($4,200) – Not very interested in stacking Scarbrough with Driskel, but could pair him with Detroit’s defense if you want to roll the dice on playing him. Probably better off using him on FanDuel if you want to take this risk.
  • Detroit Lions DST ($3,100)

Chicago Bears

The Bears are a mess, there is no getting around that. They will be incredibly low owned and have a very nice matchup against a Giants’ team that has allowed 25 or more points in all but one game all year (and that was the Redskins). It’s disgusting, but if Trubisky is healthy, I’ll be over the field in ownership with the Bears. They are a nice salary relief spot to afford other studs in your GPP lineup.

I’ll most likely throw in one of Golden Tate, Darius Slayton, Evan Engram, or Saquon Barkley on the other side of my Bears stacks.

  • Allen Robinson ($6,500)
  • Taylor Gabriel ($4,200)
  • Mitch Trubisky ($5,100)
  • David Montgomery ($5,500)
  • Tarik Cohen ($4,800)
  • Anthony Miller ($3,500)

NFL DFS GPP – Sample Lineup

QB: Mitch Trubisky
RB: Saquon Barkley
RB: Alvin Kamara
WR: Odell Beckham Jr.
WR: Calvin Ridley
WR: Anthony Miller
TE: Vance McDonald
FLEX: Golden Tate

Some notes on what I believe to be the “optimal” roster build for NFL DFS Cash Games. I’ll include this in all the Checkdown articles moving forward. For Week 11, please see below for my notes on roster construction:

  • There are a lot of solid high-floor/high-ceiling value options at the WR position. If you can’t afford a stud, I don’t think that will be an issue. It’s hard to pivot off of Michael Thomas, even with the price.
  • Brian Hill is a must play for cash games.
  • I’m starting to lock-in Lamar Jackson in cash. I strongly believe he is the only QB on the slate with a 30+ point ceiling.
  • If you cannot afford McCaffrey, I don’t believe that is a problem – There is a TON of value at the RB position.
  • Per usual, I’ll be updating this article daily throughout the week with additions/revisions.
  • Just because someone is not included in this write-up, does not mean you cannot play them in cash. These are all just my preferred plays for an optimal cash game build.

NFL DFS Cash Games Quarterbacks

  1. Lamar Jackson ($7,700) – Jackson is part running back, part quarterback. Baltimore is hosting a Houston defense that has allowed the 6th most DraftKings points per game on the season and has struggled to generate a pass rush over the past couple of weeks (losing J.J. Watt obviously doesn’t help things).

This game opened up with a total of 50 points and should continue to rise throughout the week. Shootout city for Lamar Jackson. He always puts up numbers with his legs, imagine what type of fantasy performance he’ll put up if this game stays close and he needs to be active in the passing game as well… By far the number one QB play on my board this week.
  2. Drew Brees ($6,900) – I have no idea what went wrong in Week 10 with Brees and this Saints offense, but I’ll bet they don’t get shut down on the road against a brutal Buccaneers’ secondary (26th in pass defense DVOA). This is another game we’ll need to attack in DFS as it opened with a 51-point total.
  3. Josh Allen ($6,600) – I wish Allen was cheaper, but he’s in play here on the road against a Miami team who ranks dead last in pass defense DVOA. Allen also provides with his rushing ability, so he should easily hit value here.
  4. Jameis Winston ($6,500) – If we think Brees and the Saints are going to put up a lot of points then we should love this potential gamescript for Jameis Winston. Winston has four straight games with 300+ passing yards and should eclipse that number again in Week 11, which is crucial for that three point bonus on DraftKings.

P.S. – Marshon Lattimore should be out for this game with a hamstring injury.
  5. Kyle Allen ($5,300) – If you need salary relief, Kyle Allen is your guy in Week 11. The Falcons looked good in Week 10 on defense, but they still rank 31st in pass defense DVOA and the price for Allen makes a ton of sense if you’re looking to lock-in expensive studs elsewhere.

NFL DFS Cash Games Running Backs

  1. Christian McCaffrey ($10,500) – Do we need to say anything about Christian McCaffrey?
  2. Ezekiel Elliott ($9,000) – Elliott has struggled to produce in his last two games and that is obviously a bit worrisome. Detroit’s run defense looked the best it has all season in Week 10, but I still have to consider Elliott in a cash build as I’m sure Dallas will want to establish the run early in this game.
  3. Dalvin Cook ($8,900) – Dalvin Cook is clearly the number two option on my board at the running back position in Week 11. He’s in a great zone-running scheme and is heavily targeted in the Vikings’ pass game as well. Denver is a stout defense, but I’ll take the Vikings’ scheme and Cook’s talent every day.
  4. Leonard Fournette ($7,900) – The Colts rank 26th in the NFL in terms of run defense DVOA and Fournette usually gets 25+ touches a game. This one seems to be a no-brainer.
  5. Josh Jacobs ($6,900) – Jacobs is going to be a star in the NFL (if he isn’t already). Cincinatti allows a ton of receptions to opposing running backs and also rank 29th in the NFL in rushing defense DVOA. Jacobs should feast in this matchup at home as a 10-point favorite.
  6. Joe Mixon ($5,500) – Oakland has been solid against the run for most of the season, but over the past month, they’ve given up ~30 DraftKings points per game to opposing running backs. Mixon has been a let down, but it looks like the Bengals are finally starting to run him to ground (30 carries in Week 10).

If Mixon continues to be active in the passing game as well as the running game, this is an excellent salary save type of play.
  7. James White ($5,400) – Mr. Reliable, James White. White has scored double digits in EVERY game this season on DraftKings, so we don’t need to overthink this one. Philadelphia’s run defense is solid, but they do allow opposing running backs to catch the ball out of the backfield often and that’s where James White shines.
  8. Brian Hill ($4,800) – It looks like Devonta Freeman is going to miss some time with a foot injury, so Brian Hill will jump into that RB1 role in Atlanta. Carolina is DEAD LAST in run defense DVOA as they continuously get shredded by opposing running backs on a weekly basis.

Hill is going to be~50% owned (maybe higher) in cash games, you cannot fade him in cash. Use his salary relief to bolster your roster elsewhere.
  9. Miles Sanders ($4,100) – If Jordan Howard misses Sunday’s game due to injury, Sanders is going to have a full workload on his hands. At this price, he makes perfect sense for a cash game lineup if you need even more salary relief than what Brian Hill offers.

Wide Receivers

  1. Michael Thomas ($9,900) – I don’t know if I’ve ever seen this price tag on a wide receiver in DFS. Thomas is the McCaffrey of wide receivers. He gets it done week in and week out. Yet again, he is by far my number one receiver in DFS this week.
  2. Julian Edelman ($7,600) – Edelman is a model of consistency in PPR formats like DraftKings. He’s had double-digit targets in four straight games and should have no issues putting up another 20-point PPR outing against this Philadelphia secondary. He’s rather expensive though. I will probably just use James White at $5,400, but if you prefer Edelman, I don’t blame you.
  3. Chris Godwin ($7,300) – Our weekly game of picking on P.J. Williams. Godwin should be in for a big day in what projects to be a shootout against the Saints. Mike Evans at $7,400 is also in play, but we can’t play everyone in cash games, so Godwin gets the nod this week.
  4. Courtland Sutton ($6,000) – Denver is going to be playing from behind in this game, so that should lead to a lot of targets for Sutton. He is an excellent route runner and should have no issues getting open against a very beatable Minnesota pass defense. I wish he was priced in the mid $5k range, but Sutton deserves a high price tag as he’s gone for double-digit DraftKings’ points in all but one game this season.
  5. D.J. Moore ($5,900) – Moore is on fire lately with back-to-back 20+ point outings. The matchup against Atlanta should have him locked in for another 20+ points.
  6. Marquise Brown ($5,600) – Marquise “Hollywood” Brown should have no trouble burning this Houston secondary. Our issues in weeks’ past with Hollywood has been that he hasn’t really played in any competitive games since the beginning of the season. Houston should be able to keep this one relatively close, so I anticipate Brown finally getting eight or more targets once again.
  7. Terry McLaurin ($5,600) – Not in love with the play (especially when Tyler Boyd is $400 cheaper), but McLaurin does provide our cash lineups with some serious upside against this Jets’ secondary. We haven’t seen much out of Haskins, so playing McLaurin certainly comes with risk.
  8. Tyler Boyd ($5,200) – No A.J.Green again, and Boyd gets to see a lot of Lamarcus Joyner in the slot in Week 11? Where do we sign up?
  9. Mohamed Sanu ($5,100) – Sanu is going to see a lot of Avonte Maddox and Ronald Darby in coverage for Philadelphia… advantage Sanu. If you don’t play James White or Edelman, Sanu is an excellent cash game play.
  10. Deebo Samuel ($4,000) – If Emmanuel Sanders is out, lock in Deebo Samuel.

Tight Ends

  1. George Kittle ($7,000) – A tight-end against the Cardinals. Better yet, one of the best tight ends against the Cardinals. His price is high, but rightfully so. Keep an eye on his injury status as he was inactive in Week 10. Doubtful to play.
  2. Darren Waller ($5,500) – I’m quite interested in Waller again now that he is priced under $6k. The targets haven’t been there of late, but this should be a nice spot to get Waller going again like we saw earlier in the year.
  3. Jared Cook ($4,400) – You know what is just as good as playing a tight end against the Cardinals? Playing a tight end against the Buccaneers. Cook should be priced up in the mid $5k range, so take advantage of these savings.
  4. Greg Olsen ($3,900) – There’s nothing sexy about Greg Olsen, but he provides us with a solid floor for NFL DFS Cash Games and should have no issues getting to double digits against the Falcons’ pass defense.
  5. Ross Dwelley ($3,400) – Kittle is out, Dwelley is in play. The snaps will be there and it’s a starting tight end against the Cardinals.
  6. Dallas Goedert ($3,200) – Punt play, but an educated punt play. I strongly believe the Patriots’ are going to scheme to take away Zach Ertz and make others’ beat them. With DeSean Jackson on IR, the Eagles are going to go back to using double tight ends in the majority of their offensive snaps. That should bode well for Dallas Goedert.

At this price, we don’t need a whole lot of production out of Goedert. Having said that, I’m confident he’ll get to double digits.

Defense/Special Teams

  1. Buffalo Bills ($3,800)
  2. Minnesota Vikings ($3,400)
  3. New York Jets ($3,100)
  4. Baltimore Ravens ($3,000)
  5. Washington Redskins ($2,800)
  6. Detroit Lions ($1,800) – Punt play for salary relief.

Some notes on what I believe to be the “optimal” roster build for NFL DFS Cash Games. I’ll include this in all the Checkdown articles moving forward. For Week 10, please see below for my notes on roster construction:

  • There are a lot of value options at the WR position, but I strongly believe you are going to need at least one of these top-tier WRs.
  • I’m out on Kalen Ballage.
  • It appears to be impossible to fade Christian McCaffrey in any DFS lineup right now – especially cash games. Lock him in!
  • I don’t see much value in paying down at QB this week.
  • Just because someone is not included in this write-up, does not mean you cannot play them in cash. These are all just my preferred plays for an optimal cash game build.

NFL DFS Cash Games Quarterbacks

  1. Lamar Jackson ($7,300) – Jackson is part running back, part quarterback. Baltimore is a double-digit favorite on the road here so we do have to worry about this game potentially getting out of hand, but Lamar Jackson is as safe as they come in DFS cash games.
  2. Drew Brees ($6,700) – Drew Brees at home, in what should be a high scoring game (opening total of 51 points) against a terrible Atlanta secondary. Yes, please.
  3. Kyler Murray ($6,500) – Everyone torches this Tampa Bay pass defense as they are giving up the most DraftKings points to opposing quarterbacks. Kyler also provides us with some rushing yards to help raise that floor a bit. He’s certainly cash and GPP viable this week in what should be a very fast-paced, shootout style of football.
  4. Daniel Jones ($5,700) – Jones is risky, but if you need salary relief, you can certainly do worse against Daniel Jones against the Jets beat-up secondary.

NFL DFS Cash Games Running Backs

  1. Christian McCaffrey ($10,500) – Do we need to say anything about Christian McCaffrey? Locking in McCaffrey should be the first thing you do in your cash game lineups.
  2. Saquon Barkley ($8,800) – Great price for the most talented running back in the NFL. It’s going to be tough to afford both McCaffrey and Barkley, and I would 100% choose McCaffrey if I had to play one, but Barkley is cash viable.
  3. Nick Chubb ($7,000) – Another game, another 20+ touches for Nick Chubb. This guy is a volume monster and we should not worry about the return of Kareem Hunt just yet. Buffalo’s run defense is nothing to be afraid of.
  4. Marlon Mack ($7,000) – We love using running backs against this Miami defense and we love using running backs who are double-digit favorites at home. Mack checks both of those boxes.
  5. Derrick Henry ($6,400) – I don’t usually love Henry on DraftKings due to his lack of work in the passing game, but he is coming off of a monster performance against Carolina and goes up against one of the worst run defenses in the NFL (who are starting to get better as they get healthier).

The Titans are at home against the Chiefs in Week 10 and should game-plan to get Henry 25+ touches to run clock and keep the Chiefs’ off the field as much as possible. The Chiefs got defensive tackle Chris Jones back last week and he had a huge impact in slowing down Dalvin Cook, but Henry’s price is so affordable so he is definitely in play for cash games.
  6. David Montgomery ($5,300) – Detroit is getting pounded by opposing running backs. David Montgomery is finally starting to run away with the Bears’ RB1 position and should be in store for 20+ touches this week.

The Bears clearly can’t move the ball via the pass so they will have to lean on Montgomery here at home to keep this game close with Detroit. He’s also coming off of back-to-back 22+ DraftKings’ point outings.
  7. Devin Singletary ($5,000) – It appears as if the rookie running back has finally placed himself atop of the Bills’ RB depth chart. Singletary ran the ball 20 times last week and remained active in the Bills’ passing game as well. I don’t think we need to worry about Frank Gore taking meaningful snaps away from Singletary.
  8. Ronald Jones ($4,300) – If you need salary relief at the running back position, Ronald Jones is your man in Week 10. He’s going to be the main focus in the Bucs’ backfield for the remainder of the season and should have plenty of opportunities to score in this matchup against Arizona.

Wide Receivers

  1. Michael Thomas ($8,300) – Thomas is the McCaffrey of wide receivers. He gets it done week in and week out. He is by far my number one receiver in DFS this week.
  2. Tyreek Hill ($7,700) – If you read the cash writeup each week, you know I love to pick on this Tennessee secondary. The last two weeks we loved Mike Evans and D.J. Moore and they both smashed in this matchup. I love Hill’s chances this week to do the same.
  3. Chris Godwin ($7,300) – Patrick Peterson is an excellent shadow corner who should be assigned the duty of following Mike Evans around the field on Sunday. Evans is still in play this week, but I’ll go to Godwin in cash as Peterson rarely travels to the slot (where Godwin runs a majority of his routes from). This game is going to shoot out, so get some exposure to it.
  4. Christian Kirk ($5,200) – It was either Kirk of Larry Fitzgerald for me. I like Kirk’s upside way more as it appears Larry Fitzgerald is finally slowing down with old age. This is a great matchup against the Tampa Bay secondary so I’m going to go with the receiver with more upside, Christian Kirk.
  5. Sammy Watkins ($5,100) – Similar matchup as why we love Tyreek Hill so much. If you need salary relief and can’t afford Hill, use Watkins.
  6. Marquise Brown ($5,100) – We may need a high flyer if we’re paying down at so many spots to afford CMC and Michael Thomas.
  7. Jamison Crowder ($5,000) – The “little guy” from the Jets finally got his groove back with Sam Darnold in Week Nine against the Dolphins. Crowder should be able to get open early and often against Giants’ slot cornerbacks, Corey Ballentine and Grant Haley (who are not good in coverage).
  8. DeVante Parker ($4,800) – Four straight weeks of double-digit DraftKings’ outings for Devante Parker. Fitzpatrick being under center has certainly raised Parker’s value and he should continue to get seven or more targets a game. Miami will fall behind early in this game against the Colts and that should really help Parker’s chances of getting a strong volume from Fitzpatrick.

Preston Williams is also out for the season… it should be #ParkerSzn.
  9. Tyler Boyd ($4,700) – Boyd is averaging over 10 targets a game. I don’t think there is anyone priced under $5,500 that has that sort of guaranteed volume, so Boyd is without-a-doubt in play for cash games.

If A.J. Green were to return, I’m still fine with using Boyd in cash (I may even prefer it). The Bengals are going to be down early against the Ravens so Boyd should see another heavy workload in the passing game.
  10. A.J. Brown (4,300) – I’m starting to like the rapport A.J. Brown and Ryan Tannehill are building together. I don’t love this play at all, but if Kansas City gets ahead early, Tennessee will have to abandon the run-first focus they usually have with Derrick Henry. If you’re a believer in the potential game script of Kansas City scoring early and often, A.J. Brown makes a ton of sense at this price.

Tight Ends

  1. Travis Kelce ($6,400) – If you can afford him, you can always play him in cash. The floor with Kelce is probably higher than any other tight end in the field, but so is his price.
  2. Austin Hooper ($5,500) – Hooper has put up double digit DraftKings points in all but one game this season. His price is affordable and he should continue to be a focal point of this Atlanta offense as they play from behind in New Orleans.
  3. Cameron Brate ($3,700) & O.J. Howard ($3,300)- I’ll probably take Brate out later in the week if his injury status becomes more clear. He barely played last week in Seattle, so obviously, something is off. If he’s out, O.J. Howard is just your classic tight end against the Cardinals play… although there is very little data on the Bucs’ side that supports playing Howard.
  4. Greg Olsen ($3,600) – If we’re paying down at tight end, I strongly prefer Olsen in this spot against the Packers than I do messing around with Cameron Brate or O.J. Howard.
  5. Jack Doyle ($3,600) – Same as last week… when T.Y. Hilton is out, these Indianapolis tight ends get a solid bump up in my projections. There’s nothing sexy here about Jack Doyle, but he should hit value for us in cash games with Brian Hoyer under center.
  6. Mike Gesicki ($3,100) – Punt play if you need more salary relief. Gesicki is coming off of the best game of his career and should be able to ride that momentum into Week 10 against the Colts. Preston Williams is out for the season with a torn ACL, so there are a lot of red-zone targets to be had for Gesicki.

Defense/Special Teams

  1. Baltimore Ravens ($4,000)
  2. New Orleans Saints ($3,700)
  3. Indianapolis Colts ($3,500)
  4. Los Angeles Rams ($3,000)
  5. Buffalo Bills ($2,900)
  6. New York Giants ($2,800)
  7. Tennessee Titans ($2,000) – Punt play if Patrick Mahomes is out.

Early Games

WASHINGTON REDSKINS @ BUFFALO BILLS

Despite the fact that Josh Allen ($6,500) is known as a deep-ball thrower he has actually struggled this year downfield. According to PFF, 40 percent of his targets of ten or more air yards have been charted as uncatchable. However, John Brown ($6,100) has been super consistent this season with five receptions in four straight games. The Redskins have allowed 42 percent of their fantasy points to the wide receiver position. Brown ranks ninth in the NFL in total air yards and his ADOT of 13.9 is the only one on the Bills that are over ten yards.

Adrian Peterson ($4,200) also needs to be considered. The Bills over the past two weeks have allowed the fourth-most fantasy points to the running back position. Redskins DST ($1,800) is probably the cheapest defense that you can feel somewhat okay about slotting into your lineups. The Bills are giving up 1.7 turnovers per game and give up the eighth-most fantasy points to the DST position.

TENNESSEE TITANS @ CAROLINA PANTHERS

I have spoken very highly about Ryan Tannehill ($5,300) the past two weeks, but this is where the train stops for him. The reason being is because Tannehill is a great quarterback at home, but struggles mightily on the road. He has not thrown for 300 yards and three touchdowns on the road since 2015.

The Tennesse Titans wide receivers are in an interesting spot and come in at value prices on the Week 9 main slate. The Panthers are allowing the most fantasy points per game to wide receivers over the past four weeks. The Carolina receivers are also coming in at a low price. Corey Davis ($4,600), A.J. Brown ($4,400), D.J. Moore ($4,800), and Curtis Samuel ($4,300) are all great sub-5K receivers. Also, do what you can to stuff Christian McCaffrey ($10,000) in your cash lineups even at his high price.

MINNESOTA VIKINGS @ KANSAS CITY CHIEFS

With the salaries inflated this week Matt Moore ($4,800) might need to be the cash quarterback that you put into your lineups. He played fine in his first game this season scoring 18.98 DraftKings points. Andy Reid knows how to scheme his quarterback in his offense to succeed. He is also surrounded by great weapons especially Sammy Watkins ($4,900) who is too cheap and is coming off an eight target game. Over the past two weeks, the Vikings have allowed the third-most fantasy points to the wide receiver position.

https://twitter.com/NFLResearch/status/1188639053672894466

Dalvin Cook ($9,500) also is worth every penny to pay up for. Over the past four weeks, no team has allowed more fantasy points to the running back position than the Kansas City Chiefs.

NEW YORK JETS @ MIAMI DOLPHINS

Finally a get right game for Sam Darnold and Gang Green. Miami is terrible across the board, but specifically, they rank fourth-worst versus the quarterback position. Every single quarterback they have played has thrown for multiple touchdowns and scored at least 15 fantasy points. Though Le’Veon Bell ($7,700) is not my favorite 7K running back this week he is definitely viable in both cash and GPPs.

CHICAGO BEARS @ PHILADELPHIA EAGLES

Mitchell Trubisky ($5,000) is the ultimate GPP play this week. The Eagles do not have a great secondary, so pairing Trubisky with the likes of stud receiver Allen Robinson ($6,800) could be fruitful. The Eagles rank second-worst in the NFL in fantasy points allowed to receivers. Tarik Cohen ($4,200) could also see a ton of work in the passing game if the Bears are trailing. The Eagles have allowed the seventh-most receptions and targets to backs this season. Eagles DST ($3,000) is probably one of the safer DSTs you can pay up for in Week 9.

INDIANAPOLIS COLTS @ PITTSBURGH STEELERS

Diontae Johnson ($4,500) and JuJu Smith-Schuster ($6,300) are both coming in very underpriced because they both played on Monday night. However, they are both seeing targets in a decent matchup versus the Colts that have allowed 15th fewest fantasy points to the wide receiver position. Jaylen Samuels ($4,000) is the lock-button play if James Conner is forced to miss the game. We have seen Samuels in a featured role in the past and all he has done is exceed expectations.

For the Colts Jack Doyle ($3,000) is the best punt play at tight end. He has at least five targets in three of his last four games. The matchup on paper versus the Steelers is also pretty good. Over the past four weeks, they have allowed the fifth-most fantasy points to the tight end.

Late Games

DETROIT LIONS @ OAKLAND RAIDERS

Matthew Stafford ($6,800) is in an absolute smash spot in Week 9 versus the Raiders defense that has allowed the most fantasy points per game (28.2) to quarterbacks over the past four weeks.

Derek Carr ($5,500) is definitely going to be a chalky quarterback play because of his price and the matchup. The Lions have allowed the fourth-most fantasy points per game over the past four weeks to the quarterback position. However, Carr is a fade for me, because I think this is going to be a monster spot for Josh Jacobs ($6,500). The reason being is the Raiders want to be a run-first team. In the neutral game script, Oakland calls run plays fifth-most in the NFL for 5.2 yards per carry. The Lions defense has allowed the fifth-most fantasy points to running backs over the past four weeks.

The Raiders are favorites at home and Detroit is allowing 27 rushing attempts per game at 5.0 yards per attempt on the road. It’s no coincidence that Carr is averaging 11.7 points per game at home versus 18.1 points per game on the road. That in addition to Jacobs averaging 22.2 fantasy points per game at home versus 11.7 points per game on the road.

https://twitter.com/notJDaigle/status/1189984999883378689

TAMPA BAY BUCCANEERS @ SEATTLE SEAHAWKS

If you pay up for any receiver this week it should be Chris Godwin ($7,300). No team has allowed more targets to the wide receiver position over the past four weeks than the Seattle Seahawks. Godwin is coming off his second-worst performance of the season so he could come in at lower ownership. According to Derek Brown on Twitter Godwin has a 75.9 percent catch rate and has scored 61.5 percent of his touchdowns versus zone coverage. Seattle is playing 60 percent of its cornerback snaps from zone coverage.

Jameis Winston ($6,100) is another GPP play with the Seahawks allowing the most passing attempts and second-most passing yards to quarterbacks over the past four weeks. Seattle also has the third-worst graded pass rush by Pro Football Focus. DK Metcalf ($5,700) is also in a great spot, so he is my recommended Seahawk to bring back on a game stack. Jacob Hollister ($2,900) is also an interesting punt play at the tight end. Buccaneers are second-worst versus the tight end over the past four weeks.

https://twitter.com/PFF_Buccaneers/status/1189591836349915136

CLEVELAND BROWN @ DENVER BRONCOS

Both DSTs in this game are both in play. The Browns ($3,100) are allowing the second-most fantasy points to defenses this season and the Broncos are allowing the fifth-most fantasy points to defenses this season. Denver ($2,900) is also starting Brandon Allen ($4,100) for the first time this season.

GREEN BAY PACKERS @ LOS ANGELES CHARGERS

Aaron Jones ($7,000) is one of the must-play running backs in Week 9. He is facing one of the leagues worst run defense. The Chargers over the past four weeks have allowed the most rushing attempts, most rushing yards, and sixth-most red zone touches to running backs. His target share in the passing game will decrease if Davante Adams ($7,100) is active. Adams will most likely be a game-time decision and because he is playing later could be a great late-swap pivot target.

Mike Williams ($4,600) is the king of touchdown regressions and air yards projection. Over the past four weeks, Williams ranks fifth in the NFL in air yards with a 14.5 ADOT but has scored zero touchdowns. The touchdowns will come and that could easily be against Green Bay, which has allowed the second-most receiving yards to wide receivers over the past four weeks. Hunter Henry ($6,000) is probably in the best spot to pay up for this week at tight end. No team has allowed more red-zone targets to tight ends than the Packers.
