Week 9 DFS Running Back – Cash Game Plays

Dalvin Cook, MIN at KC

DK ($9,500)   FD ($9,000)

Cook has as much upside as any fantasy RB in football, excluding maybe Christian McCaffrey (more on him later), with the highestfloor. He’s the top play this week in cash games and despite the huge price tagand ownership, he’s worth a look in all formats. Lock the dude in against a badrun defense and what should be a high-scoring, relatively closely-matched affair.

Chris Carson, SEA vs. TB

DK ($7,200)   FD ($8,200)

Carson has just one TD and one target last week but rushed for 90 yards and remains an affordable, elite fantasy RB with plenty of upside. There’s a chance the Seahawks throw a bit more this week facing a Bucs defense that’s vulnerable in its secondary, but that’s not keeping me away from one the most consistent value plays in the game.

Week 9 DFS Running Back – GPP Plays

Christian McCaffrey, CAR vs.TEN

DK ($10,000)  FD ($9,700)

McCaffrey was limited at practice due to a knee injury, but Ron Rivera said he’s not concerned, so should we be? I may not be playing him a $10,000 on DK in too many cash games, but the “injury” and the price could keep a few more folks from clicking his name in GPPs. He’s still involved in all aspects of the Carolina offense, and is on track for another 5-10 targets and 20+ fantasy points, even if he’s not 100 percent.

Josh Jacobs, OAK vs. DET

DK ($6,500)   FD ($7,200)

The Lions run defense isn’t wonderful, and Jacobs gets aton of touches. Huis ownership could be down coming off a poor showing atHouston and the big red “Q” that’s next to his name right now because he was listedas a limited participant at Wednesday’s practice. But Jacobs played through whatevershoulder issue he’s been having last week, and there have been no reportedsetbacks in that game. I’m guessing the team is just limiting his practice repsin advance of this weekend’s matchup against Detroit, which is just fine.

Le’Veon Bell, NYJ at MIA

DK ($7,700)   FD ($7,000)

Here’s where things could get a little dicey, but alsoprofitable. The Dolphins defense is no match for a healthy, engaged Bell, andeven dumb-bucket Jets head coach Adam Gase knows it. Gase blames himself forBell getting only 12 touches in Sunday’s pathetic 29-15 loss to the Jaguars, andspent this week trying to trade everyone under the sun before copping to hismiscues. I do think that since he couldn’t trade Bell (which he can’t now, sothere’s no reason to limit his usage) he’ll give him a full complement oftouches and Bell should see plenty of opportunity to pay off his price tag onboth sites.

Nick Chubb, CLE at DEN

DK ($7,300)   FD ($8,100)

Chubb rushed for 131 yards on 20 carries against thePatriots, a notoriously tough defense to run on. This week, he gets the Broncos, who are not as good, in a contest that should be a lot closer and require justas much running from the former Georgia Bulldog. He should also have more usagein the passing game (26 targets over six weeks before last week’s one-target debacle)and probably won’t fumble twice in Denver. Jump on this under-the-radar talentin GPPs.

Marlon Mack, IND at PIT

DK ($6,300)   FD ($6,900)

Mack ran for 76 yards and a score on 19 carries, adding a14-yard catch during Sunday’s 15-13 battle over Denver (which followed a slowweek against the Texans), and he faces a decent Steelers run defense this timearound. Again – he sees a lot of touch volume and won’t draw large ownershiplevels in GPPs. The price came up slightly but I’m buying this week.

Jaylen Samuels, PIT vs. IND

DK ($4,000)   FD ($5,000)

James Connor is still dinged up and questionable for Sunday’s game, while Samuels practiced fully on Wednesday and looks like he could be the bell cow if Connor and Benny Snell are both on the shelf against Indy. His ownership will be sky-high if both those Steelers RBs are inactive, but it’ll be worth it for the role he’ll have – along with the 20-25 point upside.

Also consider: Phillip Lindsay (wrist), Aaron Jones (shoulder),Derrick Henry, Jamaal Williams

Week 9 DFS Running Back – Contrarian GPP Plays

Austin Ekeler, LAC vs. GB

DK ($6,000)   FD ($6,500)

I’ll never understand why coaches like Anthony Lynn getaway from the guys who have been successful, but such is the case. Giving Ekelerjust three carries and three targets would have been a bigger story had the Chargerslost (and they should have), but we can guess that he’ll have a larger workloadthis week, where the shifty back should dominate the backfield touches againstan opponent that could jump out to a lead. It doesn’t necessarily have to be a negativegame script for Ekeler to succeed, so I’ll be using him once again in GPPs forhis massive upside – even if he continues to split with the less versatile MelvinGordon.

Ty Johnson, DET at OAK

DK ($4,900)   FD ($5,500)

This play is not for the faint of heart, and it’s going tobe tough to click his name after what happened in Week 8. I know – I feel you.But Tough Guy Ty was on everybody’s list last week for a reason. He’s got a fewthings going against him this week, but his ownership will be a fraction of whatit was a week ago, and we have to take some contrarian chances in DFS.

Also consider: Jordan Howard, LeSean McCoy, Damien Williams,Tarik Cohen

Week 9 DFS Running Back – Value/Punt Plays

David Montgomery, CHI at PHI

DK ($5,200)   FD ($6,600)

Montgomery had his breakout game last week (27 carries, 135rushing yards, TD; 4-12-0 receiving) as we profiled him in this same “valueplay” section. The price has come up a bit, but he’s still a veritable bargain andfaces an Eagles defense that’s only slightly better than the Chargers.

Devin Singletary, BUF vs. WAS

DK ($4,700)   FD ($6,100)

The Bills are at home facing Washington this week, and they’reeager to shake off the display they put on against the Eagles. Expect a lot moretouches coming to Singletary as the team finds more ways to get him the ball.

Royce Freeman, DEN vs. CLE

DK ($4,900)   FD($5,700)

Freeman could see an increased workload this week if PhillipLindsay (wrist) can’t play, and the matchup against the Browns is a juicy one.

Mark Walton, MIA vs. NYJ

DK ($4,500)   FD ($5,700)

With Kenyan Drake off to Arizona, Walton has taken over aslead back for Miami. While he didn’t find much running room against theSteelers on Monday night, he has a solid matchup against the Jets’ porous rundefense in Week 9.

Additional plays: Tra Carson, Frank Gore, Chris Thompson (toe)

Monkey Knife Fight Picks of the Week

Pick the Players that will get the most Fantasy Points

Goal: 65.5, Prize: 2x — D. Cook, L. Bell & M. Mack

These three RBs have solid matchups and are poised to have big days. It’s an RB article, so I restricted my MKF picks here to RBs. Mix in a WR if you’re not feeling an all-RB crew!

Week Eight was by far my most profitable week on the 2019 DFS season. We absolutely smashed our cash games and finished top-five in multiple single entry NFL DFS GPP tournaments! Hell, even the sample lineup from last week’s Stick’s Stacks scored 202.2 DraftKings points! I hope you played it!

As you saw in my articles last week and heard on the Win Daily Sunday Livestream, my three favorite spots to get exposure to were the following:

  • Oakland Raiders @ Houston Texans
  • New York Giants @ Detroit Lions (had a lot of exposure to Darius Slayton, Barkley, and Stafford/Golladay)
  • Tampa Bay Buccaneers (Mike Evans as our top WR play on the slate)

Let’s keep it rolling again in Week Nine where we have one of our smaller slates on the year with just 10 games on the main slate. If you read the article and have any questions, please do not hesitate to reach out to me directly on Twitter or sign up for Premium Gold to join our Slack channel.

Like usual, it’s another great week to use 50% or more of your bankroll towards single entry cash games. Please check out my Cash Game Checkdown before you set your DFS lineups for Sunday. Lets get to work on Stick’s Stacks for Week Nine.

The purpose of this weekly article is to identify team/game stacks that we are going to use for an NFL DFS GPP. For those of you that don’t know, a “team stack” is simply multiple players from the same team (I rarely ever use more than three players on a given team).

A “game stack” is similar, except we are going to use players from both teams in a given game. Focusing on team stacks and game stacks is incredibly useful in the NFL DFS GPP environment. That being said, let’s get to this week’s top NFL DFS stacks for DraftKings!

Top NFL DFS GPP Game Stacks

Tampa Bay Buccaneers @ Seattle Seahawks (-6) O/U (52.5)

This game in Seattle looks to be one of the heavier chalk games on the slate in the DFS world – and I’ll probably be overweight on it as well. There’s obviously plenty of reasons to love the Seahawks’ passing game here so we won’t go into detail on that. Opposing teams are throwing over 64% of the time against Seattle, so for Tampa, we just need Jameis Winston to play well and not throw five picks for him to hit value.

Tampa has a top-five run defense and has been a pass-funnel defense all year long, so there is clearly merit with loving the Seahawks’ air attack this week. If they can put up points in a hurry, Jameis Winston and the Bucs should be forced to throw it 45+ times and lead to a shootout.

What’s great about this game is it’s not difficult to handicap where the production is going to come from on either team. This is a perfect game to stack up!

Tampa Bay Buccaneers

  • Chris Godwin ($7,300) – I’m much higher on Godwin this week in comparison to Evans. Only using Evans in lineups where I stack this game.
  • Mike Evans ($7,200)
  • Jameis Winston ($6,100)
  • Cameron Brate ($3,100)

Seattle Seahawks

  • Russell Wilson ($7,100)
  • Tyler Lockett ($7,500)
  • Chris Carson ($7,200)
  • DK Metcalf ($5,700)
  • Jacob Hollister ($2,800) – Large field GPP only.

Detroit Lions @ Oakland Raiders (-2) O/U (50.5)

Back to back weeks of having a lot of interest in both the Lions’ and Raiders’ offenses. Both of these defenses have struggled of late and it’s one of the highest expected totals on the slate with a tight spread.

The Lions’ running game looked absolutely broken last week now that Kerryon Johnson is on IR. This is another week where we can be confident in Stafford and company moving the ball via the pass. That slow-paced, run-first Lions’ gamescript is no longer a thing. In addition, the Raiders have allowed the most DraftKings points to opposing QB’s over the past month.

On the other side, the Raiders should have no issues moving the ball as the Lions have allowed the fourth most DraftKings’ points to both opposing QB’s and RB’s in their last three games. Keep an eye on whether or not Darius Slay suits up for this one, but I don’t think he’s anything you need to be truly concerned about from a DFS perspective.

Detroit Lions

  • Kenny Golladay ($7,700)
  • Matthew Stafford ($6,800)
  • Danny Amendola ($4,700) – Wish he was cheaper, but this is a great spot for a guy coming off of back to back weeks of nearly 70% snap share. He should destroy Lamarcus Joyner.
  • Marvin Jones Jr. ($6,000)
  • T.J. Hockenson ($3,700)

Oakland Raiders

  • Darren Waller ($6,300)
  • Josh Jacobs ($6,500)
  • Derek Carr ($5,500)
  • Tyrell Williams ($5,900)
  • Zay Jones ($3,000) – MME punt play.

Minnesota Vikings @ Kansas City Chiefs (TBD) O/U (TBD)

At first glance, it’s looking like this game isn’t drawing much attention from the DFS community early in the week. This can obviously change quickly if Patrick Mahomes were to be ruled in, but all signs point to Matt Moore being under center for this one.

I don’t want to completely stack this game up, but I will have exposure to both of these offenses in my NFL DFS GPP roster builds.

Minnesota Vikings

  • Dalvin Cook ($9,500)
  • Stefon Diggs ($7,600)
  • Kirk Cousins ($6,700)
  • Adam Thielen ($7,800) – Keep an eye on his injury status

Kansas City Chiefs

  • Tyreek Hill ($7,400)
  • Travis Kelce ($6,900)
  • Sammy Watkins ($4,900)
  • Matt Moore ($4,800)

Top DFS GPP Team Stacks

Carolina Panthers

Naturally, I like to be a little contrarian with some of my GPP builds and stacks for larger field GPPs. Last week, I had faith in the Bears and they let me down a bit, but my lineups with David Montgomery absolutely smashed. This week, I’m going to do a stack or two with the Carolina Panthers.

Tampa Bay paid off for us last week, so why not pick on this Tennessee secondary once again this week? They’re extremely banged up and truthfully, I don’t respect their secondary when healthy. McCaffrey is always in play, but if you want to leverage away from McCaffrey ownership in a GPP, use Kyle Allen and one or two of these wideouts.

  • D.J. Moore ($4,800) – Absolutely love his spot this week. He will probably be a lock for me in cash games and heavily involved as salary relief in my main GPP builds.
  • Christian McCaffrey ($10,000)
  • Curtis Samuel ($4,300)
  • Kyle Allen ($5,200)
  • Greg Olsen ($3,500)

Chicago Bears

Who am I kidding? I’ll go back to the well once more this week in one or two large-field GPP tournaments with a Bears stack (probably safer to just use two Bears at most). You don’t need them to go off as they really open up your ability to pay up for a pair of top-tier RBs (just look at last week’s sample GPP lineup!). We’ve been picking on this Eagles’ pass defense all year so there’s no reason to stop now.

  • Allen Robinson ($6,800)
  • Mitch Trubisky ($5,000)
  • Taylor Gabriel ($3,900)
  • Anthony Miller ($3,700)
  • David Montgomery ($5,200)

Sample NFL DFS GPP Lineup

QB: Mitch Trubisky
RB: Dalvin Cook
RB: Jaylen Samuels
(make sure Conner is out)
WR: Allen Robinson
WR: Tyler Lockett
WR: D.J. Moore
TE: Cameron Brate
FLEX: Nick Chubb
DST: Washington Redskins

Get Ready For Halloween Thursday Night Football!

The NFL season is entering Week 9! That means it is time for another Showdown Slate on DraftKings. If it’s your first time watching remember Showdown differs from traditional contests. It features just six players to the roster. The caveat being one is slotted in as your captain. The captain spot is unique though. The players slotted there earn 1.5x fantasy points. They also cost 1.5x their normal price. Finding the right player for your captain spot will be especially important to win because if they have a big game and are not owned highly they are the difference-makers to bring home a victory on Halloween Thursday night football.

Final Takeaways

For all the strategies you can use the number one is to buy into a narrative. Remember storytime as a kid? Same concept here. How will the game go in your eyes? Give yourself an idea of how you think the game will go and build your roster in correspondence to the game flow. Check out the full video to get the players I recommend targeting. As a sneak peek some of the players that I am touting for Halloween Thursday night football include Kyler Murray, Larry Fitzgerald, Tevin Coleman, Matt Breida, Deebo Samuel, and George Kittle. For prop bets on Monkey Knife Fight my favorites to bet are over on Kyler Murray’s 220.5 passing yards and Kittle over 5.5 receptions.

You also have to love the 49ers DST and Arizona DST in this game. The current FanDuel Sportsbook has the current total at 42.5 with the 49ers at -9.5.

Early Games

Cardinals at Saints

Interestingly enough the Cardinals rank last in the NFL in giveaways per game at 0.6 which I think limits the upside of the Saints DST ($3,500). At running back if Alvin Kamara ($7,600) is out again Latavius Murray ($5,800) will once again be in play. His heavy involvement in both the passing and running game makes him an extremely enticing cash play for Week 8. Jared Cook definitely ($4,000) needs to be considered as well because we all know the flow chart narrative of the Arizona Cardinals’ defense. In the three games prior to missing last week, Cook had seen 15 targets and scored two touchdowns.

The Cardinals defense looked better last week with Patrick Peterson, and if he locks down Michael Thomas that could really hurt the upside for Teddy Bridgewater ($5,900). Ted Ginn Jr.($3,700) is also a very interesting GPP punt play. He has 11 targets over the past two games and is back in the dome where he has scored or gone over 100 yards in two of his home games this season. When Ginn plays at home in New Orleans you need some exposure in GPPs. The Cardinals have allowed the tenth-most fantasy points to the wide receiver position this season.

For Kyler Murray ($6,200) I absolutely love him in GPPs. He busted hard last week, but the weather and the game flow played a huge role in it. Murray should be getting back a cheap Christian Kirk ($4,700) so with another receiver added I think Murray can cruise in Week 8. Two of the rushing quarterbacks that the Saints played this year (Wilson and Watson), combined for 90 rushing yards and three rushing touchdowns.

Bengals at Rams (London)

For the second week in a row, the Rams have the highest implied team total (30.5) on the main slate. This makes sense as the Bengals defense has been absolute trash this year, allowing the fifth-most fantasy points to quarterbacks and most fantasy points to running backs through the first seven weeks of the season. That sets the stage for Todd Gurley ($7,400) to be in a blow-up spot. Gurley saw 18 rushing attempts in Week 7, with nine of those attempts coming in the red zone. Gurley currently ranks sixth overall in the NFL in red zone carries (21) despite playing in just six games. Any running back that has seen 11 touches has scored double-digit fantasy points versus the Bengals. Gurley is averaging 16 touches per game. It’s tough to get behind Jared Goff ($6,800) at his price with slightly better options higher priced than him. The Rams DST ($3,800) is also in a smash spot for Week 8.

This image has an empty alt attribute; its file name is Upgrade-Graphicresize-1.jpg

As for the Bengals, Tyler Boyd ($5,100) is absurdly too cheap in this game. Boyd ranks third in the NFL in total targets (74) and is most likely not going to be getting coverage from Jalen Ramsey. Ramsey played 86% of his snaps from the outside in Week 7 and just had five snaps coming from the slot. Boyd also is not even a 100% slot wide receiver; this season he has played in the slot approximately 60% of the time. Boyd is the perfect one-off receiver play in both GPPs and cash games. Alex Erickson ($3,700) is also an interesting option. He saw a career-high in snaps (74) and the Rams have allowed the ninth-most fantasy points to the wide receiver position over the last four weeks.

Broncos at Colts

Emmanuel Sanders has been traded to the 49ers, opening up 19% of the target share for other receivers. The key receiver to play here in cash games is DaeSean Hamilton ($3,300). In the last four games of last season once Sanders was out of the lineup due to injury, Hamilton averaged 6.25 receptions, 9.5 targets, and 45.5 receiving yards. He is the low-priced wide receiver you want to unlock the rest of your lineups. The Colts over the last four weeks have allowed the fifth-most fantasy points to the wide receiver position. Courtland Sutton ($5,300) also becomes very chalky but is great value in the plus matchup.

For the Colts, this could be a great spot for their running back Marlon Mack ($6,100). He is back at home and is facing off versus the Denver defense that has allowed the eighth-most rushing attempts, eighth-most rushing yards, second-most receptions, most targets, and six-most red-zone targets to the running back position over the last four weeks. Mack has six targets over his last two games. T.Y. Hilton ($6,100) is an easy fade this week after being super chalky last week. In his history versus the Broncos, Hilton has zero career touchdowns and has surpassed just 41 yards once in five games played. Colts DST ($2,900) is still in play as the Broncos have allowed the fifth-most fantasy points to defenses over the past four weeks. Denver is allowing an average of four sacks per game in road contests this season.

Chargers at Bears

Allen Robinson ($6,000) continues to be underpriced and underappreciated on DraftKings. Robinson is the only player that is seeing at least 40% of his team’s total air yards and 25% of his team’s total target market share. He is a great GPP play with the perception of a tough matchup with cornerback Casey Hayward. David Montgomery ($4,400) is also extremely cheap for a starting running back in which he is at home and is on the favored team to win the game. Head coach Matt Nagy has seen some heat from the media from not running the ball enough, so there is not a better spot to get back to the run game than versus the Chargers. Los Angeles has allowed the fifth-most rushing yards and seventh-most attempts to running backs over the past four weeks. Anthony Miller ($3,500) is a nice punt play for receivers with a total of 16 targets over the last two weeks.

As for the Chargers, they are filled with GPP plays because of how badly they have played recently. Mike Williams ($4,000) ranks fourth in the NFL in air yards over the last five weeks. Additionally, Keenan Allen ($6,400) is the cheapest he has been all season and ranks third in the NFL in air yards over the last five weeks. With Philip Rivers ($5,300) throwing multiple touchdowns in five of seven games this season it is just a matter of time before Williams or Allen finds the end zone again. Austin Ekeler ($5,900) also needs to be in play because the Bears have been dreadful versus running backs as of late. Over the last four weeks, they have allowed the most fantasy points to the running back position. Specifically through the passing game. They have allowed the fifth-most receptions and fourth-most targets.

Giants at Lions

The Lions DST ($2,800) might be the best value at defense on the slate. The Giants on the road this season have averaged 2.7 turnovers per game, and over the last four weeks, the Giants have allowed the second-most fantasy points allowed to opposing defenses.

It’s also time for Matthew Stafford ($6,100)to smash Week 8! The Giants’ defense has been bad especially on the road. There allowed average yards per attempt to quarterbacks is 9.8 which is second-highest in the NFL. With the loss of Kerryon Johnson, the Lions could lean on the pass more. They already are averaging 36.3 pass attempts per game at 7.9 yards per attempt. The Lions are also averaging three passing touchdowns per game at home this season. Kenny Golladay ($6,400) is almost guaranteed to bounce back. You can also then add in presumed starting running back Ty Johnson ($4,900) who is also at a great value. It’s Lions week for GPP stacking. Marvin Hall ($3,000) can help round out the lineup as well. He has now hauled in a pass of at least 34 yards in three consecutive games. The last time Hall played the Giants he scored. Hall averages 22.56 yards per catch in his career.

Saquon Barkley ($8,900) is also in play in cash games. The Lions have allowed the second-most fantasy points to the running back position over the past four weeks.

https://twitter.com/PFF/status/1054541025597931521

Jets at Jaguars

It was Leonard Fournette ($7,800) week last week, and it looks like that could be happening once again. Except for this time Fournette should find the end zone. No team has allowed more rushing touchdowns this season to running backs than the New York Jets. Over the past four weeks running backs are averaging 7.5 red zone touches per game. Considering he is averaging 24.5 touches per game he has to be locked into your cash lineups. Fournette is second in the NFL in red zone carries (27). The Jets could also be without linebacker C.J. Mosley who is dealing with a nagging groin injury.

Eagles at Bills

The Eagles are allowing the third-most fantasy points to wide receivers over the past four weeks. That means Josh Allen ($6,500) and John Brown ($5,900) are always in play. If you are looking to go cheaper at receiver Cole Beasley ($4,200) is a great value.

Zach Ertz ($5,100) is a strong fade even at his price because the matchup is very tough. Bills have allowed the second-fewest fantasy points to the tight end position. If anything I would suggest playing Dallas Goedert ($2,800) who is too cheap for a tight end that has scored 25.7 DraftKings points over the last two weeks.

Seahawks at Falcons

Russell Wilson ($7,200) is definitely in consideration for cash games this week. Wilson is facing the worst defense in the league against the quarterback position. Though you like him much more if Matt Ryan is there to put pressure on Wilson to score points in this game. The best play in this game might be either Chris Carson ($7,000) or DK Metcalf ($5,000). Falcons have allowed the fourth-most fantasy points to wide receivers and have allowed the third-most passing plays over 20 yards (28). Carson is averaging 23 touches per game making him an easy cash play versus arguably the league’s worst defense.

Buccaneers at Titans

I was talking up Ryan Tannehill last week and he delivered in a big way. He scored 23.18 DraftKings fantasy points last week and gets an even better matchup versus the Buccaneers at just $5,100. Corey Davis ($4,400) is a massive chalk wide receiver play because of his price and the matchup. The Buccaneers have allowed the most fantasy points to wide receivers over the last four weeks. Also when Corey Davis has had at least five receptions this season he has scored at least 20 DraftKings points. A.J. Brown ($4,100) is also a great cheap wide receiver to target coming off a career-high eight targets in Week 7.

Both Mike Evans ($6,600), Chris Godwin ($7,100) and Jameis Winston ($5,900) are all in play for GPPs because of the middling matchup.

Late Games

Panthers at 49ers

Tevin Coleman ($5,000) is probably in the best spot out of all the 49ers’ running backs. As the main rusher, he will benefit from the Panthers allowing 4.7 yards per attempt and 1.2 rushing touchdowns per game.

Christian McCaffrey ($9,200) will come in at lower ownership because of his tough matchup, making him an excellent GPP play. I still think you can play him in cash though. CMC has produced in tough matchups already this year and with 27 touches per game, he should still hit value. Besides the 49ers have rarely been tested this year versus running backs. The best back they have faced (Nick Chubb) rushed for 87 yards and they allowed 81 rushing yards to Adrian Peterson. Don’t overweight the matchup. Last year also when McCaffrey faced the number one rush defense in the Baltimore Ravens he scored 19.60 fantasy points.

Browns at Patriots

Tom Brady ($6,600) is in play and a perfect player to pair him with is James White ($5,100). The Browns have allowed the fourth-most fantasy points to quarterbacks over the past four weeks. White has been running extremely bad when it comes to touchdowns. He has 11 targets in the red zone, but just one touchdown.

https://twitter.com/HaydenWinks/status/1187034223129042946

Raiders at Texans

It is Kenny Stills ($4,700) chalk week folks. With Will Fuller on the sideline, Stills is entrenched to that deep threat role on the Texans. This comes at a perfect time versus the Raiders who have allowed the most passing plays of 20 yards or more (32), and rank fifth-worst in sacks on the quarterback. Deshaun Watson ($7,100) is locked in for a productive outing for both cash and GPP formats.

The matchup to expose here is rookie Lonnie Johnson Jr. on the Houston Texans because they are so banged up in their secondary. Johnson has lined up at right cornerback the majority of this season making his matchup most likely versus Tyrell Williams ($5,500) or Keelan Doss ($3,300). Johnson Jr. allowed four touchdowns in coverage last week on nine targets.

Week Seven was another fun and profitable week. I was really hoping for Davante Adams to return to action so I could use the Packers as my main stack, but as you saw in last week's Stick's Stacks, I was only going to go overweight on Rodgers and the Packers if Adams was in. Although I was way more u...

Week Five was insanely high scoring – probably the highest I’ve ever seen. Hopefully you checked out the stacks in last week’s post and got your NFL DFS GPP lineups across the pay-line.

It’s another excellent week to use 50% or more of your bankroll towards single entry cash games. Please check out our Cash Game Checkdown before you set your DFS lineups for Sunday. But, lets get to work on Stick’s Stacks for Week Six.

Atlanta Falcons @ Arizona Cardinals (51)

Both of these defenses are historically bad and both of these offenses play at a very high pace. The total in this one opened up at 47 points and was quickly bet up by both the public and “sharper” sports gamblers. Were going to follow suit and attack this game.

Both quarterbacks are projected to be under 10% owned and there really isn’t any heavy chalk associated with this game at the moment. I’ll keep an eye on ownership projections and advise if there is anything notable, but regardless, I don’t think there is any reason to fade either side of the ball in this one.

Atlanta Falcons

I’m not going to get very cute with the Atlanta Falcons like I did last week when touting Mohamed Sanu and Calvin Ridley. This is a game where I think Julio Jones, Freeman, and Hooper do most of the damage. If you want to get contrarian and save some salary, Ridley and Sanu are fine.

  • Matt Ryan ($6,400)
  • Julio Jones ($8,000)
  • Austin Hooper ($5,000)
  • Devonta Freeman ($5,800)
  • Mohamed Sanu ($4,500)
  • Calvin Ridley ($5,700)

Arizona Cardinals

  • Kyler Murray ($6,500)
  • Larry Fitzgerald ($6,100)
  • Christian Kirk ($5,200)
  • David Johnson ($7,600) – I hate that price, probably a fade for me besides in MME formats. Watch out for his health as well – Edmonds may be a free square is Johnson is out.
  • KeeSean Johnson ($3,900)

Houston Texans @ Kansas City Chiefs (55)

Not a whole lot to say about this game besides shoot-out city. Personally, I like the ATL/AZ game a bit more due to ownership reasons and I really don’t think the Kansas City pass defense is that bad. Having said that, a total of 55 points is tough to ignore.

We have some injury concerns on the Kansas City offense that we’ll need to keep an eye on, so it outside of Mahomes/Kelce, we would be shooting at the hip when picking another Chiefs’ pass catcher. Not to mention the three-man timeshare at the running back position in KC… All in all, it seems like more of a headache when building a KC stack unless you just keep it simple and lock in Mahomes with Kelce.

One thing I do like is the Houston defense allowing the most receptions to opposing running backs and Damien Williams is very affordable.

Houston Texans

  • DeAndre Hopkins ($7,400)
  • Carlos Hyde ($4,400)
  • DeShaun Watson ($6,700)
  • Will Fuller ($6,000)
  • Duke Johnson ($4,100)

Kansas City Chiefs

  • Patrick Mahomes ($7,500)
  • Travis Kelce ($7,000)
  • Damien Williams ($5,700)
  • Mecole Hardman ($5,300)
  • Byron Pringle ($3,500)
  • Sammy Watkins ($6,200) – Looks like he’s highly questionable to suit up.
  • Demarcus Robinson ($5,900)

San Francisco 49ers @ Los Angeles Rams (50.5)

This game has sneaky shootout potential in terms of DFS ownership. I anticipate most players will focus on the two games above (and for good reason), but this game in LA should be a good one. The pace will be there and it’s a contrarian game to attack in DFS.

San Francisco 49ers

  • Jimmy Garoppolo ($5,700)
  • George Kittle ($5,200)
  • Marquise Goodwin ($4,500)
  • Matt Breida ($5,100)
  • Tevin Coleman ($4,400)
  • Dante Pettis ($3,900)

Los Angeles Rams

  • Cooper Kupp ($7,100)
  • Robert Woods ($5,700)
  • Jared Goff ($6,100)
  • Todd Gurley ($6,200) – Injury concerns – make sure he is active on Sunday!
  • Gerald Everett ($3,600)
  • Brandin Cooks ($5,400) – Great value, but may miss this one with a concussion.

Top NFL DFS GPP Team Stacks

Baltimore Ravens

Highest implied total on the slate so you have to give them consideration. I would usually back off on this one due to the run-heavy gamescript Vegas is hinting at, but remember Week One? Lamar Jackson and Hollywood Brown went off! They are always capable of hooking up for a few deep balls despite the blowout concerns in this game.

  • Lamar Jackson ($6,900)
  • Marquise Brown ($6,200)
  • Mark Ingram ($6,600)
  • Mark Andrews ($4,800)

Dallas Cowboys

They got embarrassed last week and should come out firing early against a terrible Jets team as a whole. I love Elliott and I love Amari Cooper this week. Tyron Smith should return as well this week – that is always great news for the Cowboys’ offense.

  • Amari Cooper ($7,000)
  • Ezekiel Elliott ($8,500)
  • Dak Prescott ($6,200)
  • Michael Gallup ($5,600)
  • Jason Witten ($3,900)

Week Five was absolutely insane for both NFL DFS Cash Games and GPPs. I usually try to build a cash lineup that can score around 150 points and am confident I’ll hit the pay-line. In Week Five, you needed 200 or more points to cash… WOW! Feel free to review last week’s Checkdown to see what players we were high on, including a ridiculous eight wide receiver plays that all blew it out of the water. Let’s get right back to it for the Week Six Checkdown for your NFL DFS Cash Games.

Sign up NOW for WIN DAILY Premium Gold right here! Projections, wagering info, 24/7 expert chats and more!

My articles will be mainly meant for DraftKings, but you can certainly use this information for other DFS websites. Please check back in on Saturday/Sunday morning for potential NFL DFS Cash Games updates.

If you have any questions and would like some further help when building your lineups, please do not hesitate to reach out to me directly on Twitter. I’m always available to help NFL DFS players make the most of their investments.

Some notes on what I believe to be the “optimal” roster build for NFL DFS Cash Games. I’ll include this in all the Checkdown articles moving forward. For Week Six, please see below for my notes on roster construction:

  • I don’t anticipate there being any crazy chalky players that you have to roster in cash games this week, but there is very little “value” on the slate thus far.
  • Contrary to Week Five where I instructed DFS players to pay up for multiple stud running backs, Week Six looks like we can only afford to roster one “top-tier” running back. EDIT: If you pay down to Rosen, you can definitely lock in two stud RBs.
  • Just like Week Five, there are a lot of great plays at the wide receiver position – I don’t think you have to focus on any one player here when building your cash lineups.
  • Unless you have a very high-floor build at the RB/WR positions, it’s going to be nearly impossible to pay down at tight end.

NFL DFS Cash Games Quarterbacks

  1. Patrick Mahomes ($7,500) – Keep an eye on his health but if he’s playing, Mahomes is always cash viable.
  2. Deshaun Watson ($6,700) – Holy Watson! Watson is coming off of perhaps the greatest game of his NFL career (426 passing yards, five touchdowns, and 47 rushing yards) and is set to ride that momentum into Kansas City for a matchup that has the highest total on the slate.

When Watson has time to make plays, he makes them – it’s as simple as that. The Chiefs’ defense currently ranks towards the bottom of the league in pass rushing and overall defense as a whole… having time to make plays will not be an issue. Kansas City is going to put up points on this Houston defense, so the gamescript is going to be in our favor if we are rostering DeShaun Watson and the Houston passing attack.
  3. Kyler Murray ($6,500) – This season has been an absolute disaster for the Falcons’ pass defense. Murray is averaging 21.5 DraftKings points per week and should easily exceed that average again in Week Six. David Johnson is having back issues, so if the Cardinals want to compete for their second win of the season, they’re going to need a big outing from Kyler Murray.

Matt Ryan ($6,400) on the other side is also cash viable, but I prefer Kyler Murray with the minimal price difference.
  4. Kirk Cousins ($5,200) – The whole “squeaky wheel” scenario we had in Week Five with the Minnesota Vikings and their lack of getting their star wideouts involved was quickly addressed last Sunday. Cousins and the Vikings’ pass offense had their best outing of the season in Week Five and will need to go a bit pass-heavy again this week when they host the Eagles.
  5. Gardner Minshew ($5,000) is worth consideration as well as Josh Rosen ($4,500). Rosen is way too cheap for a great matchup against Washington. He should be able to get to 15+ points and allow you to pay up all over the slate.

NFL DFS Cash Games Running Backs

  1. Ezekiel Elliott ($8,500) – The Cowboys need to make a statement after back-to-back losses in Weeks Four and Five. My early projections have Elliott finally topping the 25-point mark for PPR leagues this season and I think that can be his floor this week against the Jets.
  2. Dalvin Cook ($8,400) – I prefer Elliott at this top-tier running back spot in Week Six, but Dalvin will always be mentioned in this writeup for the foreseeable future. The volume will always be there for Dalvin Cook.
  3. Alvin Kamara ($8,000) – The Jaguars have been brutal against the run in terms of DVOA. Kamara will get 20+ touches no matter what happens in this game.
  4. Nick Chubb ($7,300) – Volume, volume, volume. Chubb is consistently getting 20+ touches for the Cleveland Browns and he is one of the most talented backs in the NFL. We need to buy-in as much as we can before he is priced up with guys like Elliott, McCaffrey, and Cook.
The Seahawks have a stout run defense but they are traveling across the country to Cleveland this week and I will always weigh talent and volume higher than I do match-ups. Chris Carson ($6,000), on the other side of this game, is also a solid cash option as well.
  5. Leonard Fournette ($6,700) – Don’t love the matchup, but volume and talent with this price is enough to heavily consider Fournette. He keeps producing at an extremely high level and will get another 25+ touches.
  6. Mark Ingram ($6,600) – Ingram and the Ravens’ are a 12-point home favorite against the Bengals. I will always target a talented running back at home as a double-digit favorite. Please note, this is not an optimal price for a running back that isn’t very active in the passing game, so we’re banking on 100+ yards and at least one touchdown – which is entirely feasible versus the Bengals.
  7. Le’Veon Bell ($6,400) – Bell is literally all the Jets have on offense right now. His ability to do damage in the passing game makes him gamescript proof. If you’re looking for a somewhat “value” running back play for an affordable price, go with Le’Veon Bell in your NFL DFS Cash Games.

I know Bell doesn’t have the supporting cast that Aaron Jones does, but this Cowboys defense looked lost last week against a Packers team who didn’t have their best player suited up.
  8. Carlos Hyde ($4,400) – The Kansas City Chiefs’ run defense ranks dead last in the NFL according to Pro Football Focus. Although this running situation is a bit of a timeshare in Houston, Hyde will get the majority of the meaningful rushes for the Texans in Week Six. I have him projected for 82 all-purpose yards and a touchdown. At the price, the expected production should be more than enough to cash in NFL DFS Cash Games.

Wide Receivers

  1. Julio Jones ($8,000) – Julio Jones has been quiet over the past two weeks and that is about to change in Week Six. He is my top play on the board at the receiver position and I’m assuming a lot of DFS players are going to fade him (in comparison to the usual ownership we see Julio Jones get).
  2. Michael Thomas ($7,800) – Always cash viable and will see a lot of Tre Herndon on the left side of the field… I like that. Pace is a concern, but the volume will be there.
  3. DeAndre Hopkins ($7,400) – Hopkins hasn’t been the fantasy producer we’ve seen in years past, but the targets, talent, and opportunities are there on a weekly basis. He hasn’t scored a touchdown since Week One so I’m betting on positive regression here. Hopkins will get in the box this week.
  4. Cooper Kupp ($7,100) – Not much to say about Cooper Kupp… he produces at an incredible level week in, week out. 49ers’ slot cornerback, K’Waun Williams has been solid this season, but I’ll take my chances on Kupp and the Rams’ passing attack until Kupp’s production says otherwise. I don’t love this price at all and would rather pivot down to Amari Cooper.
  5. Amari Cooper ($7,000) – Only concern here is game flow. Absolute smash spot against Trumaine Johnson and Darryl Roberts. Lock him in!
  6. Adam Thielen ($6,700) – Welcome back, Adam Thielen! I mentioned earlier how I like Kirk Cousins and the Vikings’ pass game this week, so we obviously like Adam Thielen. If the Giants found a way to keep last week’s game close, Thielen would have ended up with ~15 targets. I’m confident Thielen will continue to produce at a high level in games that are competitive.
  7. Larry Fitzgerald ($6,100) – I don’t love his ceiling, but this matchup at home against the Falcons with a 52-point total is a perfect spot for Larry Fitzgerald and Kyler Murray to have a field day.
  8. Dede Westbrook ($5,100) – Our weekly pick-on P.J. Williams writeup… Dede has put up double-digit DraftKings points in each of the last three weeks and will do so again this week. I don’t think this game against the Saints will be played at a high-pace but if it does, we could see a 20-point outing for Westbrook.
  9. Courtland Sutton ($5,000) – Hopefully everyone bought into Courtland Sutton after last week’s writeup! This dude is legit and still completely underpriced. I called his touchdown last week and will call another one in Week Six. Sutton is an excellent value play on a slate that doesn’t offer many. Emmanuel Sanders ($4,800) is in an excellent spot lining up on the right side of the field and in the slot against Malcolm Butler and Logan Ryan.
  10. Mohamed Sanu ($4,500) – Just like last week, Sanu is the perfect definition of “cheap exposure to a high-total game”. He paid off for us in Week Five and will do so again in Week Six. I think his ceiling will be limited a bit with guys like Calvin Ridley, Julio Jones, and Austin Hooper all on the field with him for the majority of the snaps, but Sanu can get 15+ points. Just stick with Julio Jones or Hooper in cash.
  11. Preston Williams ($4,100) – If you need a punt play, Preston Williams is your guy. No one on this Washington secondary can contain him but we have to bank on Josh Rosen to get Williams the ball in positions where he can succeed… which sounds a bit risky for cash games.

Tight Ends

  1. Travis Kelce ($7,000) – If you can afford him, play him. He is by far my number one tight end in Week Six (which will be the case on most weeks).
  2. Zach Ertz ($5,400) – Why did his price drop from $6,000 to $5,400? Ertz is the main weapon in the Eagles’ offense and should be heavily considered at this price for NFL DFS Cash Games.
  3. George Kittle ($5,200) – Will Dissly just put up 81 yards against this Rams’ defense but the Rams aren’t usually a team I target when rostering tight ends. Having said that, at this price… Kittle is 100% in play for your cash lineups.
  4. Austin Hooper ($5,000) – Hooper is one of the most targeted tight ends in the NFL in 2019. Dirk Koetter continues to feature Hooper in the Falcons’ passing scheme and he happens to be going against Arizona defense who we will always target. Arizona is letting up the most points to opposing tight ends.
  5. Noah Fant ($2,900) – Fant is the only punt play I can recommend at the moment. If something pops up during my research throughout the week, I’ll be sure to make updates. Unless you have a nasty lineup that is only possible via punting the position, you have to pay up for one of the above tight ends this week.

Defense/Special Teams

  1. Dallas Cowboys ($4,300)
  2. Baltimore Ravens ($4,100)
  3. Denver Broncos ($3,100)
  4. Jacksonville Jaguars ($2,200)
  5. New York Jets ($1,500) – DraftKings finally adjusting the DST pricing… This is a free square, just pray they get a few sacks and don’t give up 30+ points.

Week Four was a big one for the Win Daily team (many thanks to rostering a lot of Los Angeles Rams and Nick Chubb). Unfortunately, the game stacks in last week’s post didn’t really work out, but our top team stack paid dividends in a NFL DFS GPP.

It’s a bit of an ugly slate this week, so I do advise DFS players to heavily consider playing more cash games this week. Please check out our Cash Game Checkdown before you set your DFS lineups for Sunday. But, lets get to work on Stick’s Stacks for Week Five.

That being said, let’s get to this week’s top NFL DFS stacks!

Top NFL DFS GPP Game Stacks

Arizona Cardinals @ Cincinnati Bengals (47.5)

With the pace both of these teams play at and the combined struggles on defense, I was quite surprised to see a relatively mediocre total of 47.5 points. I’m going to remain confident this game shoots out and that multiple players in this game are worth targeting in your NFL DFS GPP lineups.

Arizona Cardinals

  • Kyler Murray ($6,300)
  • David Johnson ($7,500)
  • Larry Fitzgerald ($6,000)
  • KeeSean Johnson ($3,500)
  • Trent Sherfield ($3,000)

Cincinnati Bengals

  • Joe Mixon ($6,100)
  • Andy Dalton ($5,700)
  • Tyler Boyd ($6,500)
  • Auden Tate ($3,500)
  • Tyler Eifert ($3,300)

Atlanta Falcons @ Houston Texans (49)

Both offenses have been extremely disappointing of late and enter Week Five in a perfect “get-right” spot. There really aren’t a whole lot of games that scream shootout in Week Five, but this game should be one of them. Both teams have been playing at a high pace and we always love Matt Ryan and company in a dome.

It looks like the Houston offense will be popular this weekend and for good reason, but I love getting exposure to the Falcons’ offense in Week Five for NFL DFS GPP style of tournaments.

Atlanta Falcons

  • Mohamed Sanu ($4,200)
  • Matt Ryan ($5,900)
  • Devonta Freeman ($5,300)
  • Julio Jones ($7,700)
  • Austin Hooper ($4,500)
  • Calvin Ridley ($4,900)

Houston Texans

  • Deshaun Watson ($6,700)
  • DeAndre Hopkins ($7,800)
  • Will Fuller ($4,500)
  • Duke Johnson ($4,200)
  • Carlos Hyde ($4,300)

  • Allen Robinson ($5,600)
  • David Montgomery ($5,200)
  • Trey Burton ($3,300)

Tampa Bay Buccaneers

  • Chris Godwin ($6,900)
  • Jameis Winston ($6,200)

  • O.J. Howard ($3,900)

New England Patriots

  • Julian Edelman ($6,300)
  • Josh Gordon ($6,100)
  • Tom Brady ($6,500)
  • Sony Michel ($5,500)
  • James White ($5,000)
  • Phillip Dorsett ($4,900)
