The purpose of this weekly article is to identify team/game stacks that we are going to use for an NFL DFS GPP. For those of you that don’t know, a “team stack” is simply multiple players from the same team (I rarely ever use more than three players on a given team).

A “game stack” is similar, except we are going to use players from both teams in a given game. Focusing on team stacks and game stacks is incredibly useful in the NFL DFS GPP environment. That being said, let’s get to this week’s top NFL DFS stacks!

Top Game Stacks

Kansas City Chiefs @ Detroit Lions (53.5)

No surprise here, the Kansas City Chiefs are a part of the highest total on Vegas’ board yet again in Week Four. I’d love to say this game is a fade for me due to Matt Patricia and the Lions’ slow-paced run-first offense, but I cannot.

Kansas City is matchup proof and simply scores 30+ points at will. This should force Detroit to play faster than they’re used to and likely leads to a game where Matt Stafford has to throw the ball 40+ times to stay competitive. There are a handful of good plays in this game that you can stack up in DFS.

Kansas City Chiefs

Patrick Mahomes ($7,500 on DraftKings)
Travis Kelce ($7,200)
Sammy Watkins ($6,700)
Mecole Harman ($5,100)
Demarcus Robinson ($5,200)

Detroit Lions

Kerryon Johnson ($5,400)
Kenny Golladay ($5,900)
T.J. Hockenson ($3,300) – Hockenson is back in play this week
Matthew Stafford ($5,500)
Marvin Jones Jr. ($5,400)

Carolina Panthers @ Houston Texans (47.5)

I love the over in this game as I project it to be a shootout from the start. This should be one of our fastest paced games on the slate and ownership doesn’t appear to be anything we need to worry about here. McCaffrey will always be popular (especially when there are bye weeks) but he’s a player you probably just have to lock-button this week in your NFL DFS GPP and cash game formats.

Get exposure on both sides of this game! I’ll most likely be fading Greg Olsen (as I only liked him in Week Three for the matchup). Please note, we may see a week where DeAndre Hopkins sits around 10% ownership…

Carolina Panthers

Christian McCaffrey ($8,800)
D.J. Moore ($5,600)
Curtis Samuel ($4,600)
Kyle Allen ($5,200)
Carolina Panthers DST ($2,300) – Extremely contrarian GPP DST target.

Houston Texans

DeAndre Hopkins ($7,700)
Deshaun Watson ($6,400)
Will Fuller ($4,500) – Way too cheap. Could be a slate breaker.
Jordan Akins ($3,100)
Duke Johnson ($4,200)

Seattle Seahawks @ Arizona Cardinals (48)

Every week it seems like the Arizona Cardinals are drawing my interest in some form for an NFL DFS GPP. This week, I like the idea of stacking the Seahawks’ passing attack and then adding a Cardinal or two on the other side. I’ll have some exposure to Cardinals’ stacks in my MME formats, but nothing for my main lineups.

Seattle Seahawks

Russell Wilson ($6,100)
Will Dissly ($3,600) – Should be extreme chalk, but Arizona continues to get destroyed by opposing tight-ends. Just make it easy on yourself and play him.
Tyler Lockett ($6,300)
DK Metcalf ($4,800)
Chris Carson ($5,700) – Absolute smash spot, but his recent fumbles are an obvious issue.

Arizona Cardinals

David Johnson ($6,800)
Christian Kirk ($5,100)
Larry Fitzgerald ($5,600)
Kyler Murray ($6,000) – People are going to shy away from Kyler now that he is priced up to $6,000… If you like this game’s chances of shooting out, this is a great week to play Kyler.

Top Team Stacks

Los Angeles Rams

The Rams currently have an implied team total sitting around 29 points – the third highest on the slate. Since the Tampa Bay Buccaneers have brought in Defensive Coordinator Todd Bowles, they’ve have allowed the least amount of fantasy points to opposing running backs, but are very beatable via the pass.

Vegas may not be dead on with this implied point total (I personally like the Rams over) but they certainly don’t think the Buccaneers will slow down this Los Angeles offense. The Rams are at home (where Jared Goff thrives) so lock in this Rams passing attack.

Week Three was one of the best weeks we’ve had for NFL DFS Cash Games thus far. Feel free to review last week’s Checkdown to see what players we were high on, including our salary saving Panthers’ Kyle Allen and Greg Olsen. Let’s get right back to it for the Week Four Checkdown for your NFL DFS Cash Games. Keep in mind, the NFL Bye Weeks start this week, so the player pool is a bit smaller than it has been to start the year.

NFL DFS Cash Games Quarterbacks

Patrick Mahomes ($7,500) – If you can afford him, play him. We have an opening total of 53.5 points in this matchup at Detroit and despite the Lions’ slow pace of play and dedication to the run game, Vegas is telling us we can roster Mahomes with confidence.
Jared Goff ($6,300) – The second highest total on Vegas’ NFL Week Four board is going to be the Tampa Bay Buccaneers at the Los Angeles Rams. This will be an up-pace game to key your DFS lineups on, so give Jared Goff a look when building your NFL DFS Cash Games. Goff has a career passer rating of 97.8 when playing at home and the Tampa Bay pass defense is nothing to fear. Goff will hit value for DFS players on Sunday.
Russell Wilson ($6,100) – Wilson was unbelievable for fantasy players in Week Three and should continue that success on the road against a generous Arizona secondary. Every quarterback who has faced the Arizona Cardinals this year has put up 25+ DraftKings points! Wilson is my favorite quarterback for NFL DFS Cash Games in Week Four.

NFL DFS Cash Games Running Backs

Christian McCaffrey ($8,800) – He’s Christian McCaffrey and will always be cash game viable. Having said that, there is plenty of value at RB this week and at first glance, I truly believe the optimal build for NFL DFS Cash Games in Week Four is to focus on paying up at QB and WR.
Austin Ekeler ($8,000) – Welcome to Austin Ekeler chalk week. Justin Jackson has been ruled out. You have to play Ekeler in cash against Miami.
Dalvin Cook ($8,300) – At this point, Dalvin Cook is matchup proof. The Vikings’ main focus on offense is getting Dalvin Cook the ball. Kubiak’s zone run scheme has always been a fantasy point producer, so let’s keep riding Dalvin Cook as much as possible. I project the Bears’ defensive game plan focusing around making Kirk Cousins beat them through the air, so I am a bit hesitant to lock Cook in cash, but he’s certainly still a viable option.
David Johnson ($6,800) – David Johnson is probably my number one NFL DFS Cash Game RB for Week Four. Johnson has not done much via the run, but he is a top receiving option in an offense that is averaging the most pass attempts per game. On the other side, the Seattle Seahawks have allowed the fifth most receiving yards to opposing running backs and just got torched by Alvin Kamara in Week Three. My early projection for the week has David Johnson finishing with 123 all purpose yards and six receptions (18.3 DraftKings points and a return value of 2.7). If he can find his way into the end-zone, this will be a monster fantasy performance at a very reasonable price.
Nick Chubb ($6,400) – Nick Chubb is currently third in the NFL in regards to touches by a running back. Baltimore’s run defense has looked very solid and has yet to give up 100 yards rushing to a fantasy running back yet this season. I anticipate this keeps a lot of DFS players away from Chubb, but his usage is too high to ignore.
Kerryon Johnson ($5,400) – The Kansas City Chiefs run defense is very suspect and Kerryon Johnson is still a Top-15 RB in regards to touches. C.J. Anderson was released so there really is no threat to Johnson’s usage. This matchup at home against the Chiefs is a perfect get-right spot for Kerryon Johnson.
James White ($4,900) – James White returns after missing last week due to the birth of his child. This is an excellent value spot for NFL DFS Cash Games (especially in full point PPR).
~~Rashaad Penny ($4,200) –~~ It appears Chris Carson is going to see less and less playing time as he continues to have severe fumbling issues. If Penny is healthy, he enters Week Four in an absolute smash spot against an Arizona Cardinals defense that cannot stop the run.
~~Devin Singletary ($4,200) –~~ If he plays, Singletary is going to get plenty of work in what should be a game where the Bills are playing from behind for most (if not all) of this game versus the Patriots. I have him projected for 85 all purpose yards with five receptions – which is more than we need for Singletary to hit value in NFL DFS Cash Games.

Wide Receivers

Julio Jones ($7,800) – Julio Jones at home against a Titans’ team that does not have the cornerbacks to keep up with him. My concern here is that Mike Vrabel keeps a safety over the top of Jones throughout the game which would limit Jones’ fantasy ceiling, but Julio Jones is still a lock for 15+ DraftKings points.
Keenan Allen ($7,600) – Just keep playing him. Keenan Allen is averaging 14 targets a game and is clearly the heartbeat of this Chargers’ offense (both in and out of the red-zone).
Cooper Kupp ($6,500) – Thankfully, DraftKings did not factor in Kupp’s blowup performance against the Browns on Sunday Night. Take the discount while it’s offered to you. Kupp should be able to burn this Tampa Bay secondary like he does on a weekly basis to every opponent. Robert Woods ($6,100) is also in an excellent spot.
Tyler Lockett ($6,300) – I love Russell Wilson this week in NFL DFS Cash Games so I obviously like the Seahawks receiving corps. Lockett is clearly Wilson’s top option in the passing game and I love his chances in replicating his huge Week Three performance yet again in Week Four in Arizona.
Kenny Golladay ($5,900) – Golladay was a huge letdown in Week Three against the Eagles, but lack of targets was not the issue. Assuming the Chiefs score at will, Golladay will have plenty of chances to make plays (projected for 12+ targets) in this matchup against a beatable Chiefs’ secondary and weak pass rush.
Larry Fitzgerald ($5,600) – Larry Fitzgerald is a staple in my cash lineups until further notice. The ageless wide receiver appears to be reborn this season under Kliff Kingsbury’s air-raid offense. We know the targets and receptions will be there week in and week out. He should be priced up above $6,000.
Terry McLaurin ($4,500) – Everyone is torching the New York Giants’ secondary so let’s get shares of Washington’s number one wideout, Terry McLaurin. He is a perfect spot to safe some salary and I have him projected for 86 yards, five catches and a score. He is my top value option on the slate. Keep an eye on his health!
Hunter Renfrow ($3,800) – If you’re looking for a high-floor, discount receiver, Renfrow is your guy in Week Four. Indianapolis has opened Week Four favored by a touchdown, so this gamescript should go in favor of Renfrow and the Oakland passing attack. I’m concerned that he will never score more than 12 fantasy points, but at the price he is worth targeting if you need salary relief.

Tight Ends

Travis Kelce ($7,200) – We all know what we’re getting from Travis Kelce at this point. The question is: does he find the end zone?
Evan Engram ($5,700) – Evan Engram and his new quarterback, Daniel Jones had a helluva coming out party against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers last Sunday. With the loss of Saquon Barkley, Engram’s usage should only rise. He is my favorite play at the tight-end position in all DFS formats this week.
Darren Waller ($5,200) – Waller is a playmaker and is clearly Derek Carr’s main option in the Oakland passing game. Oakland should be playing from behind for most of this game, so you can count on Waller being heavily targeted yet again in Week Four.
Delanie Walker ($4,800) – The Atlanta Falcons have yet to give up a touchdown to a tight-end in 2019… that changes this week. For the price, I’d rather just pay up for Engram or Waller, but I do have Delanie Walker penciled in for 65 receiving yards and a touchdown. If Atlanta’s offense can get moving early, Delanie Walker should be in store for a big day. If Atlanta struggles, I don’t see Walker being that involved as the Titans will most likely lean on Derrick Henry. I’ll have an update to Walker’s projections later on in the week.
Will Dissly ($3,800) – Please go look at Arizona’s last three box scores, then go look at what opposing tight-ends have done to them. T.J. Hockenson destroyed this linebacking core in Week One, Mark Andrews did the same in Week Two, and as we all know, Greg Olsen had a career day against them last Sunday.

Long story short, play tight-ends against the Arizona Cardinals.

Los Angeles Chargers ($3,800)
Los Angeles Rams ($3,500)
Carolina Panthers ($2,300)
Seattle Seahawks ($3,300)

Top Game Stack

Baltimore Ravens @ Kansas City Chiefs (53)

There’s really not a whole lot to say about this game besides that you are going to want to get some exposure to it in one or more of your NFL DFS GPP lineups. Both offenses come into this game scorching hot and I’ll be sure to get some shares of both teams in DFS this weekend.

Keep in mind, both quarterbacks are extremely expensive, but that should help keep ownership down a bit throughout the industry.

Baltimore Ravens

Lamar Jackson ($7,000)
Marquise Brown ($5,900)
Mark Andrews ($4,600)
Mark Ingram ($5,700)
Willie Snead ($4,200)

Kansas City Chiefs

Patrick Mahomes ($7,600)

Top Team Stacks

Tampa Bay Buccaneers – Tampa Bay comes in with what is looking like the fourth highest implied total on the slate sitting around 27 points. This is a great number to focus on when building NFL DFS GPP lineups. Usually, I’ll always have a big focus on teams that have an implied total of 25 or more points and a game script that I can predict/support.

The Giants are in my opinion, the absolute worst team in defending the pass right now and their run defense isn’t much better – this leads me to having a very positive game script for the Bucs’ offense as a whole. The one thing that is scaring me a bit is: unlike a typical Bruce Arians offense (pass-heavy), TeamRankings.com shows us that the Bucs sit towards the bottom in the NFL for pass attempts per game.

First off, I don’t think Bruce Arians has completely changed his coaching style. Secondly, as the sample size continues to grow, my bet is that the Bucs will be one of the most pass-heavy teams in the NFL. Mike Evans and the boys are due for a big week.

Peyton Barber ($4,600)
Jameis Winston ($5,400)
Chris Godwin ($6,900)
O.J. Howard ($3,800)

Buffalo Bills – I love the way the Bills have been playing on offense. Josh Allen is crushing it to start the year and I love him in all formats in DFS this week… especially for a NFL DFS GPP. He’s due for a big passing game and will always do damage via the run (not to mention the Bengals are a bottom five defense in defending not only the pass, but the run as well). Bills Mafia, here we go!

Zay Jones ($3,300)
Frank Gore ($4,400)
Cole Beasley ($4,400)

San Francisco 49ers – I’m all in for going right back to the well to roster some 49ers in a NFL DFS GPP. I don’t think anyone is going to play them this week and their pricing is more than reasonable. This is a great spot to get contrarian in your lineup builds.

George Kittle ($5,800)
Jimmy Garoppolo ($6,200)
Deebo Samuel ($4,500)
Matt Breida ($5,400)
Marquise Goodwin ($5,000)
Dante Pettis ($4,500)

Arizona Cardinals – Although Arizona has a slightly lower implied team total than I’d like to see (~24 points), I am really liking the idea of getting some Arizona stacks in my NFL DFS GPP lineups. Larry Fitzgerald has been incredibly successful versus a zone defense and that is what Carolina is going to bring to the table.

Kingsbury’s air raid offense is going to have multiple “trip” sets of receivers on one side of the field for most of this game and I think the Panthers will really struggle in defending that for a full game. If the Cardinals’ offensive line can hold the pass rush (that’s a big “if”), Kyler Murray is going to have a monster day with both his arm and legs.

My articles will be mainly meant for DraftKings, but you can certainly use this information for other DFS websites.

Quarterbacks

Patrick Mahomes ($7,600) – Mahomes is averaging damn near 35 points a week in DFS. If you can find a way to fit him into your lineup at what I still think is a reasonable salary, lock him in.
Lamar Jackson ($7,000) – Lamar Jackson is the only quarterback in the NFL that is off to a hotter start than Patrick Mahomes. In Week Two, the Ravens play Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs… we may see Lamar be asked to play at a higher pace than we have so far. This is going to be the Game of the Week and you’re going to want to get exposure to it in your NFL DFS Cash Games.
Josh Allen ($5,900) – If you need to save some salary at the quarterback position, Josh Allen makes for a fine play. Jimmy Garoppolo and the 49ers just torched this Bengals’ defense and I expect Allen and company to do the same. His fantasy points are a little too dependent on rushing touchdowns to start the year, but I trust that Allen will hit value again on Sunday.
Kyle Allen ($4,000) – Now that Cam Newton has been ruled out, you can lock in Allen to save a TON of salary.
~~Teddy Bridgewater ($4,700) –~~ An away game in Seattle is not the friendliest of conditions for Teddy Bridgewater to make his first competitive NFL start since 2015 (I do not count the irrelevant start in 2018 once the Saints rested their starters), but the cheap price tag is attractive for NFL DFS Cash Games. Seattle’s defense has been very beatable via the pass, so I see no reason why Teddy Bridgewater can’t get 15+ DFS points and hit value at an incredibly low price point.

Running Backs

Saquon Barkley ($9,100) – He is Saquon Barkley and always is in play in any DFS format if you can afford him.
Christian McCaffrey ($8,700) – Hopefully DFS players are a little shy in rostering McCaffrey in Week Three after that brutal performance last Thursday night. I’ll always use McCaffrey in DFS Cash Games; especially in full-point PPR formats like DraftKings.
Dalvin Cook ($7,800) – Dalvin Cook is currently averaging the second most points per game on DraftKings at the running back position (only trailing Austin Ekeler). Gary Kubiak and the Vikings are clearly committed to running the ball, so keep rostering Dalvin Cook in DFS at a significant discount from guys like Barkley, Elliott, McCaffrey, and Kamara. Dalvin Cook is currently matchup-proof.
Austin Ekeler ($7,200) – Personally, I’m not a believer in Austin Ekeler, but the usage is there through two weeks and the loss of Hunter Henry should certainly benefit his fantasy value. I love this matchup against Houston, as we should be in store for a sneaky shootout.
Aaron Jones ($6,100) – Aaron Jones had a heck of a game last Sunday against the Vikings and should be able to ride that hot performance into another big fantasy performance against the Broncos. The Packers are at home and favored by over a touchdown. That usually bodes well for running backs.
Devonta Freeman ($4,900)
~~Miles Sanders (3,900) –~~ It was great to see Miles Sanders get a little more involved in the passing attack on Monday night. Sanders has yet to deliver a solid fantasy output, but at this price, I’m willing to bet he has his first double-digit fantasy performance. The Detroit defense has already allowed 13 receptions to opposing running backs and rank in the bottom five in fantasy points allowed to running backs.

Wide Receivers

DeAndre Hopkins ($7,800) – The Chargers do not have the pass defense they had a few years ago. DeAndre Hopkins had one of his worst games in quite some time last week against Jalen Ramsey and the Jaguars. Don’t expect Hopkins to stay quiet two weeks in a row! Hopkins will almost always be my number one choice at receiver for NFL DFS Cash Games.
Julio Jones ($7,300) – You’re going to want one to try your best to roster one of these top-tier wide receivers that are $7,000 or more. Julio is coming off of one of his best games in quite some time and should be able to tear up the Colts’ secondary this Sunday. He is one of the few wide receivers that are a lock for 10 or more targets each week.
Keenan Allen ($7,000) – You’re going to want to get exposure to this Texans @ Chargers game in Week Three. Keenan Allen is my favorite Charger to get exposure to but I wouldn’t blame you if you went with Ekeler instead.
Kenny Golladay ($6,600) – The volume is always there for Golladay and if you pay up at quarterback and running back this week in DFS, you may not have the salary to afford a Hopkins or Julio Jones. Golladay has a nice price and an even better matchup against the Philadelphia secondary that cannot stop a nosebleed.
Tyler Lockett ($6,200) – Great price with an even better matchup against P.J. Williams.
Tyler Boyd ($6,500) – Volume, volume, volume. There isn’t much more to say about Tyler Boyd. While A.J. Green is injured, keep getting shares of Tyler Boyd in NFL DFS Cash Games.
Nelson Agholor ($3,600) – He will be 50% owned in cash games at a ridiculously low price. Hard to avoid Agholor in Week Three.
John Brown ($5,500) – I used to think of John Brown as only a “deep ball threat” but he is much more than that in 2019. The volume has been there on a weekly basis and I don’t anticipate that stopping. John Brown is cash game viable and offers a great ceiling to DFS players… at a great price.
Larry Fitzgerald ($5,100) – The veteran wideout is coming off back-to-back 100 yard games with 11+ targets in each of them. This is probably going to be the norm with Kliff Kingsbury’s air raid offense.
Deebo Samuel ($4,500) – His price went up, but he’s still very affordable. I am a firm believer Samuel is the most talented wideout for the 49ers and will continue to get more targets on a weekly basis.

Tight Ends

Zach Ertz ($5,700) – Zach Ertz under $6,000?
Evan Engram ($5,200) – He’s the best receiver on the Giants that’s not named Saquon Barkley. With 22 targets already on the season, Engram is a cash game lock until further notice.
Mark Andrews ($4,600) – Andrews is a great pivot to get cheap exposure to the Baltimore @ Kansas City shootout.
Greg Olsen ($3,700) – Too cheap in an excellent matchup.

Defense/Special Teams

Dallas Cowboys ($4,300)
Buffalo Bills ($3,400)
Green Bay Packers ($3,400)

NFL DFS GPP Advice – Stick’s Stacks for Week Two

Week One in NFL DFS GPP tournaments had it’s ups and downs. The stacks I had with the Kansas City Chiefs and Sammy Watkins obviously paid off nicely, but my main builds were centered around that San Francisco @ Tampa Bay game (sigh). We can talk about what could have been in Week One until we’re blue in the face, but it’s best we just get right back into NFL DFS GPP action. Top Game Stacks

New Orleans Saints @ Los Angeles Rams (53)

New Orleans Saints – The Saints currently have an implied total sitting around 25 points on the road in Los Angeles. They are my favorite team to stack this week in NFL DFS and I was quite surprised when I saw my first draft of projected ownerships. I’ll try to keep an eye on ownership projections and update this article throughout the week, but at the moment, it looks like everyone is going to flock towards the KC/OAK game.

Having said that, this game as a whole could be a huge leverage spot for your NFL DFS GPP builds in Week Two.

Tre’Quan Smith

Los Angeles Rams – Unfortunately, I took a stance on Rams’ Running Back, Todd Gurley for my main NFL DFS GPP build in Week One. He looked incredibly efficient when he did get the ball, but something is obviously up with McVay’s trust in Gurley’s health. This week, I’ll stick to just targeting the Rams’ passing attack and maybe sprinkle in Gurley or Malcolm Brown in a MME style NFL DFS GPP.

Seattle Seahawks @ Pittsburgh Steelers (46)

Pittsburgh Steelers – I have a feeling this game has sneaky shootout potential. I love targeting Ben Roethlisberger and the Steelers’ offense when they’re playing at home. The Steelers have an implied total of 25 points which isn’t anything that pops off the board, but it is Top 10 on the main slate in DFS this week. I like this game as a lower owned pivot in an NFL DFS GPP for Week Two.

Seattle Seahawks – Despite only winning by a point, the Seahawks stuck to the running game in Week One against the Cincinnati Bengals, where they were a 10-point home-favorite. Russell Wilson only threw the ball 20 times… If the Steelers can right the ship and start scoring points like they did in 2018, Russell is going to have to drop back to pass a helluva lot more than 20 times.

When Wilson is in a pass-heavy game-script, he tends to have very solid fantasy production. In 2018, when Wilson threw the ball 25 times or more, he averaged 20.15 DraftKings points. That probably isn’t going to win you a NFL DFS GPP, but if he’s around five percent ownership (likely even less), I’ll take a risk and bet that he does some damage with his rushing ability and produces one of those 30+ fantasy point ceiling-games.

Kansas City Chiefs @ Oakland Raiders (52.5)

Kansas City Chiefs – The Chiefs and Raiders’ game is going to be chalk heaven. We have a high total that includes the best offense in the NFL (KC) and the most underpriced offense in DFS (OAK). Combine those two things and you will have a very popular game stack. I’d love to say you can fade this game to avoid high ownership, but I’d be lying to you.

Do I think you need to be overweight on this game? No. But, you’re going to need to get exposure to this game in some form.

Oakland Raiders – We’ll keep it simple here: The Raiders are all underpriced. I’d get shares of some Raiders regardless of who they were playing this week simply for the salary relief. They happen to have a great, pace-up matchup against the Chiefs… so that certainly doesn’t hurt the cause. Keep in mind, they will be incredibly popular in NFL DFS GPP and Cash Game formats.

Top Team Stack

New England Patriots – The Miami Dolphins currently look like a mid-major NCAA football team. The Patriots will remember what happened last time they went to Miami for a football game (the Miami Miracle) so I fully expect them to punish the Miami Dolphins this time around. My only concern is that Bill Belichick lays off the gas once the game is out of reach due to respect for longtime friend and colleague (and Miami Head Coach), Brian Flores.

If Flores wasn’t the coach of Miami, I’d take the Patriots to win by 50.
