Scott Engel and Mark Paquette discuss the Main FanDuel MLB DFS Slate on the 7/15 MLB DFS Podcast. They break down the main slate on DraftKings and FanDuel.

Saving on Monday Pitching

There are some big names to possibly spend up on, such as Luis Castillo, but Scott and Mark offer a pair of arms that can save you some cash and help you stack from the Colorado/San Francisco game. Kyle Hendricks is under $10,000 on DK, and Joe Musgrove is incredibly cheap when you consider how he has been pitching recently.

7/15 MLB DFS Podcast Stacks

There are a few likable options for tonight, and the Blue Jays are one of them. We also have to give strong consideration to the Braves. Of course, the second game of the Rockies/Giants doubleheader offers us some apparent quality options.

For those not familiar, my name is Dan Wehr and I am a new author here at WinDailyDFS. This report will provide stacks that I recommend for today’s 13 game main slate. I’ve also included my favorite one offs and value plays.

Toronto Blue Jays

vs. RHP Dylan Bundy (BAL): 5.90 Runs

The Toronto side of this game will undoubtedly be on the chalkier side given how well the Jays are hitting and also how bad Dylan Bundy can be more often than not. Bundy carries 4.91 ERA, 5.29 FIP, and 4.38 SIERA. Bundy has nearly identical splits and neither are great. He carries an average of .336 wOBA, .470 SLG, and .323 OBP. Bundy is also allowing 2.03 HR/9 and 42% FB rate. Toronto is slashing to a tune of .412 wOBA, .289 ISO, 162 WRC+, and .603 SLG to right handed pitching over the last two weeks.

Preferred Stack: Cavan Biggio $3700 FD|$4400 DK, Eric Sogard $3300 FD|$4600 DK, Lourdes Gurriel Jr. $3800 FD|$5800 DK, Freddie Galvis $2900 FD|$4000 DK, and Justin Smoak $2800 FD|$3700 DK.

Atlanta Braves

vs. RHP Jordan Yamamoto (MIA): 5.95 Runs

Jordan Yamamoto has a fairly small sample size coming into tonight’s matchup against the Braves. He lucked out his first two starts, taking on a Cardinals team who had been pretty inefficient against right handed pitching leading up to those two games where he found success. Yamamoto carries 4.57 ERA, 5.60 FIP, and 4.96 SIERA into tonight’s matchup. He has tremendous splits carrying .206 wOBA, .145 SLG, and .258 OBP through 23 innings pitched. I expect regression to the mean and the Braves are hitting very well recently. The Braves are slashing .330 wOBA, .220 ISO, and .466 SLG over the last two weeks.

Preferred Stack: Freddie Freeman $4400 FD|$5100 DK, Ronald Acuna Jr. $4200 FD|$5200 DK, Brian McCann $2700 FD|$3400 DK, Josh Donaldson $3100 FD|$3900 DK, and Nick Markaikas $3000 FD|$3900 DK.

Washington Nationals

vs. RHP Brad Keller (KCR): 6.10 Runs

Tonight we have Brad Keller in D.C. taking on the Nationals on a very hot and humid evening. Keller carries 4.46 ERA, 4.63 FIP, and 5.39 SIERA into tonight’s game. He is pretty inconsistent but overall he looks to be decent on paper. He is only allowing 0.69 HR/9 and GB rate of 50% while only allowing 36% hard contact. His splits are identical, so we can feel good about going after guys like Anthony Rendon and Trea Turner. The Nationals are slashing to a tune of .300 wOBA, .142 ISO, and .378 SLG over the last two weeks. Look for Nat’s flyball hitters to elevate Keller’s pitches tonight.

Preferred Stack: Juan Soto $4200 FD|$5400 DK, Anthony Rendon $4400 FD|$5200 DK, Trea Turner $4000 FD|$5300 DK, and Adam Eaton $3000 FD|$3800 DK.

Honorable Mentions

Baltimore Orioles

vs. RHP Aaron Sanchez (TOR): 5.10 Runs

Preferred Stack: Chance Sisco $3500 FD|$4000 DK, Renato Nunez $3200 FD|$4100 DK, Anthony Santander $3100 FD|$3900 DK, and Trey Mancini $3600 FD|$4300 DK. Jonathan Villar on FD $3400.

Boston Red Sox

vs. LHP Gregory Soto (DET): 6.75 Runs

Preferred Stack: JD Martinez $4400 FD|$4800 DK, Xander Bogaerts $4100 FD|$5200 DK, Christian Vasquez $3000 FD|$4300 DK and Jackie Bradley Jr. $2900 FD|$3900 DK.

One-off’s and Value Plays

Tom Murphy (SEA) $2400 FD|$3700 DK, Yordan Alvarez (HOU) $4100 FD|$4600 DK, Hunter Renfroe (SDP) $2800 FD|$4000 DK, Nicholas Castellanos (DET) $3300 FD|$4000 DK, Jose Martinez (STL) $2700 FD|$3600 DK, and Dwight Smith Jr. (BAL) $2900 FD|$4000 DK.

This report will provide stacks that I recommend for today’s 4 game main slate. I’ve also included my favorite one offs and value plays.

Toronto Blue Jays

vs. RHP Rick Porcello (BOS)

Implied Run Total: 5.25 Runs

The Blue Jays and Red Sox game should receive a good bit of attention this evening. We have Rick Porcello in Toronto, he carries a 5.07 ERA, 4.41 FIP, and 4.98 SIERA coming into tonight’s game. He does struggle a bit more with lefties, but his splits are nearly identical. He holds an average .325 wOBA, .326 OBP, and ,444 SLG. The Blue Jays are hitting extremely well over the last 2 weeks against right handed pitching. They are slashing to a .412 wOBA, .289 ISO, and 162 WRC+. I want to emphasize I do like Toronto a lot this evening and will have a ton of exposure across the board and will be differentiating my builds.

Preferred Stack: (in order of preference) Cavan Biggio $3700 FD|$4700 DK, Lourdes Gurriel Jr. $3700 FD|$5500 DK, Eric Sogard $3100 FD|$4800 DK, Freddy Galvis $2900 FD|$4000 DK, and Rowdy Tellez $2400 FD|$3600 DK. I’ll also have shares of Vlad Guerrero Jr. $3200 FD|$3900 DK and Justin Smoak $2700 FD|$3900 DK.

Los Angeles Angels

vs. RHP Lance Lynn (TEX)

Implied Run Total: 5.10 Runs

Lance Lynn has been somewhat decent this season but I’m going to get behind the narrative that the Angels are going to play their hearts out for their beloved teammate, Lance Lynn carries 4.00 ERA, 2.94 FIP, and 3.84 SIERA into tonights game. He has an xFIP of 3.84 so we expect regression. The Angels are slashing .319 wOBA, .125 ISO, and 102 WRC+. Justin Upton and Shohei Ohtani were not in the lineup both times Lance Lynn faced the Angels this season.

Preferred Stack: Shohei Ohtani $3900 FD|$5200 DK, Mike Trout $4500 FD|$5300 DK, Justin Upton $3800 FD|$3800 DK.

Honorable Mentions

Atlanta Braves

vs. RHP Zach Eflin (PHI): 5.90 Runs

Preferred Stack: Josh Donaldson $3000 FD|$4000 DK, Freddie Freeman $4400 FD|$5000 DK, Ronald Acuna Jr. $4300 FD|$5400 DK, and Brian McCann $2600 FD|$3400 DK.

One-offs and Value Plays

Josh Donaldson (ATL) $3000 FD|$4000 DK, Rowdy Tellez (TOR) $2400 FD|$3600 DK, Justin Bour (LAA) $2800 FD|$4100 DK, Roughned Odor (TEX) $2700 FD|$3900 DK, and Danny Jansen (TOR) $2200 FD|$3100 DK.

Thursday’s MLB action may not include a Coors Game, but there are plenty of offenses to stack in DFS. We have four stacks to target as you assemble your Daily Fantasy Sports entries.

Minnesota Twins

I am pretty sure the Oakland Athletics pushed Tanner Anderson’s start back a day just so he could help put on a fireworks show. Anderson has a 7.13 ERA this season, while allowing a robust 48.3% hard contact rate. The high amount of hard contact has led to home runs, as he is allowing 2.04 HR/9. With the Twins leading all of baseball in home runs hit, this seems like an appropriate spot to stack some Twinkies in DFS.

Anderson has been awful against lefties. He has allowed a .473 wOBA and 4.91 HR/9. So of course, we want to load up on the left-handed Twins.  So our Minnesota stacks will need to start with Max Kepler (FanDuel: $3,700 DraftKings: $4,600). Kepler has an ISO north of .330 versus right-handed pitching. Other Twins bats worth considering are: Jason Castro (FanDuel: $2,600 DraftKings: $3,800) and Jorge Polanco (FanDuel: $3,700 DraftKings: $4,500). These two bats have ISOs above .240 versus righties in 2019.

Detroit Tigers

The Tigers’ offense is not normally in a position to stack. In fact, it has been good to our bank accounts to use starting pitchers against them. But this is just how bad the White Sox’s Lopez is. Lopez has a .5.12 SIERA and a low 10% swinging strike rate. He is not missing many bats and this is a perfect spot for us to pick on while we build DFS lineups.

Look to use the Tigers’ offense as a cheap stack to help load up on bats from Minnesota or one of these other teams. But target the likes of Brandon Dixon (FanDuel: $2,800 DraftKings: $4,300) and Gordon Beckham (FanDuel: $2,300 DraftKings: $3,300). All of these Tigers’ bats have ISOs over .200 against right-handed pitching this season.

Atlanta Braves

The Phillies’ Zach Eflin is not a terrible pitcher but he is not elite with his SIERA being 1.3 higher than his ERA. That means some regression is coming and it likely is coming today. Not only does Eflin struggle on the road with a 4.64 xFIP, but the Braves’ lineup is stacked with guys that crush righties. The Atlanta Braves have seven guys with regular at bats that are posting .200-plus ISOs against right-handed pitchers.

Of course, start your Atlanta DFS stack with Freddie Freeman (FanDuel: $4,400 DraftKings: $5,000). But you can also mix and match the likes of: Austin Riley (FanDuel: $3,400 DraftKings: $4,500), Josh Donaldson (FanDuel: $3,000 DraftKings: $4,000), Tyler Flowers (FanDuel: $2,500 DraftKings: $3,600), Dansby Swanson (FanDuel: $3,700 DraftKings: $4,500), Brian McCann (FanDuel: $2,600 DraftKings: $3,400) and Ronald Acuna Jr (FanDuel: $4,300 DraftKings: $5,400). All four of these Braves batters have accumulated at least a .200 ISO versus right-handed pitching.

Kansas City Royals

The Royalsand Indians game should have plenty of fireworks from both offenses and may bea great spot to game stack for DFS purposes. But if you have to chose just oneside, the Royals’ offense is the way to lean. The Indians’ Zach Plesac has a5.01 SIERA and a 5.13 xFIP in 2019. He also is allowing flyballs at a rate of42.4% which has led to 1.91 HR/9.

Use HunterDozier (FanDuel: $3,600 DraftKings: $4,700), Jorge Soler (FanDuel: $3,100DraftKings: $4,000) and Adalberto Mondesi (FanDuel: $3,600 DraftKings: $4,800).These three batters have ISOs greater than .200 against right-handed pitching.

But also, Dozier (.250 ISO) and Soler (.409 ISO) have crushed fastballs this season, which Plesac has thrown 55% of the time.

Boston and Chicago have small rain issues tonight to watch for as you make your DFS stack builds. The wind will continue to blow out moderately to right at Wrigley.

  1. Yankees: This team will be the most popular DFS stack of the night for obvious reasons. Their deep and powerful lineup recently saw their two biggest right-handed bats return in Giancarlo Stanton ($4,200 FD) and Aaron Judge ($4,300). They now get left-handed starter Clayton Richard ($5,600) Tuesday night in the Bronx. Some of his statistics on the season include 25.1 innings, 29 hits, 21 earned runs, 15 walks, 14 strikeouts and five HRs allowed. Yikes, good luck tonight Mr. Richard!
  2. Braves/Cubs: I know this matchup let most people in the DFS industry down last night. But let us go back to this DFS stack again tonight, shall we? After all, 11 runs were scored last night between the Cubs and Braves with three combined HRs last night. Not a horrible performance but not the explosion we were hoping for either. Weather conditions should be almost exactly the same as they were last night, warm, somewhat muggy and a wind blowing out to right around 15 mph. This isn’t the best weather conditions we have ever seen at Wrigley but bats do get a boost here. Possible players that you may see on my DFS roster Tuesday night would be left-handed sluggers Freddie Freeman ($4,500 FD), Anthony Rizzo ($3,900), Kyle Schwarber ($3,100) and the suddenly red-hot Jason Heyward ($2,800, two or more hits in each of last three games, going a combined eight for 12 for a .667 batting average with a HR, three doubles, three runs scored and a RBI). The Braves are throwing a lefty out there in Max Fried so some of these left-handed bats from the Cubs may not play, keep that in mind for DFS stack purposes.
  3. Padres: Let’s differentiate ourselves from the crowd with this DFS stack choice. After a winter with a shakeup at all levels of the Baltimore organization, Orioles fans hoped 2019 would be different. Unfortunately, this looks like a long-term project in Maryland. Baltimore is tied for last as a pitching staff in batting average allowed at .273. They have given up an incredible 156 HRs as a staff. The next closest team is Seattle at 137. Tampa has given up fewer than half of Baltimore’s total (73). The Oriole bullpen continues to be a problem, with a 4.78 ERA which is good (bad??) for fourth worst in the league. Tonight, the Baltimore nine plan on using Jimmy Yacabonis as their opener and will string the rest of the game together with bullpen arms. Oh, and did I mention that according to ESPN’s park factors Oriole Park at Camden Yards is the third easiest park to HR in and 6th to score runs in? DFS stack with the Padres!

Here are my preferred DFS Stack recommendations for June 24.

Braves: Jon Lester has allowed at least four earned runs in five of his past seven starts, and the Braves have been the top hitting team in MLB for the month of June. They seemingly have been a regular DFS stack lately. Ozzie Albies, priced friendly at 4300 on DraftKings, is hitting .370 with four homers and 15 vs. left-handers and Austin Riley (5,300) is at .333/5/11. Dansby Swanson, also at 4300, is hitting .317 with three homers and 12 RBI vs. LHPs. Ronald Acuna Jr. (4800) and Freddie Freeman (5400) have 11 combined HRs with 14 RBI each vs. lefties. Johan Camargo has started to pick it up recently and is just 3600.

Yankees: Aaron Sanchez has a 6.09 road ERA in nine starts, so the Yanks will be a great cash game DFS stack. D.J. LeMahieu is hitting .333 this month with 19 RBI, and Gary Sanchez has six HRs and 19 RBI in June. Luke Voit has eight HRs and 17 RBI this month and Gleyber Torres has four HRs and 15 RBI in June. You do have to get creative with this DFS stack, as all of the aforementioned hitters are $4,800 or above on DraftKings. Giancarlo Stanton comes in at 4500 and Gio Urshela is 4100 if he is in the lineup. Didi Gregorious can be your real DFS stack salary saver at 3700.

Upgrade to Premium Gold!

Phillies: Steven Matz has allowed five earned runs in each of his past two road starts and owns a 6.21 away ERA. Scott Kingery (4800) is hitting .390 vs. lefties. Jay Bruce (4400) is hitting .357 so far vs. LHPs since he came to Philadelphia and may not be widely used because of a  lefty-on-lefty matchup. Jean Segura (4400) is hitting .300 with 18 runs scored vs. lefties. J.T. Realmuto has four home runs and 13 RBI vs. LHPs and is ideal at 3900. Cesar Hernandez is another DFS stack saver at 3700.

Indians: Brad Keller is 1-6 on the road with a 4.85 ERA. Orlando Mercado is hitting ,313 with three homers, 11 RBI, four steals and 14 runs scored. Jason Kipnis is enjoying a revival month of June with three homers and 16 RBI and is priced friendly for your DFS stack at 4000. Roberto Perez fits nicely at 4200 while you can also throw the Jose Ramirez dart at 3900. Carlos Santana (5100) and Francisco Lindor are obviously the DFS stack anchors here. Do check the weather in this one before you make Cleveland your DFS stack for the night.

Rockies: You have to consider this DFS stack against Drew Pomeranz and his 7.09 ERA against the second-best hitting team in the Majors this month. This is a good bounce-back spot for Colorado after getting swept at Los Angeles.  David Dahl kills lefties, as does Ian Desmond, and either Tony Wolters (.319 vs, LHPs) or Chris Ianetta can save some salary.

The guys dig into the Monday night schedule on this DFS Podcast, spotlighting CC Sabathia as a possible bargain play against Toronto, and they also consider Philadelphia and Colorado stacks. Tonight’s Braves-Cubs game should produce a lot of offense, and there is a sparkling pitching matchup between the Dodgers and Diamondbacks. The Rockies-Giants game presents an interesting dilemma to close out today’s DFS Podcast. Should you take a hot-hitting team against a bad pitcher as your prime stack of the night? Will the ball leave the yard enough?

Micheal Brantley should see some solid pitches today in the clean up spot with Alvarez hitting behind him AND Bregman is leading off, lock in these Houston bats as they face Trent Thornton. I have a unique strategy today which is playing the one, two and four batters for Houston, avoiding Alvarez. He will be very chalky today and a bad game is imminent. If anything, I can see them pitching around him, taking their chances with Josh Reddick. The Houston Astros are favored by -220 with a 9 under/over.

The Arizona Diamondbacks face the red-hot Anibal Sanchez. Over his last three starts, Sanchez owns a 1.04 ERA and has struck out 15 batters allowing a mere .153 BA to all opposing batters over this span. Sanchez is a completely viable play tonight despite Arizona’s impressive play on this road trip scoring 45 runs over the last seven. The Diamondbacks do struggle against right-handed pitching as they’re only batting .243 against righties this season, compared to a .295 BA vs. opposing left-handed pitching. Arizona only has a .310 OBP and a .429 SLG to opposing righties. Sanchez is my pitching play today on both sites. Salaries are extremely reasonable.

The Atlanta Braves lead the league in runs over the past week with 55. They set to face Cole Irvin, a left-handed rookie who is allowing lefties to hit for average and righties to hit for power. The Braves lineup looks very juicy. Donaldson is my dong call of the day as his bat is heating up. Donaldson has hit seven of his eleven home runs at home and Atlanta owns the leagues highest BA on the slate over the last week. Donaldson is in the four hole and should have ample opportunity for some RBI. Atlanta is favored by -160 with a 10.5 under/over.

The Texas Rangers have struck out 84 times in the past seven days, a league high. Today, they face Sonny Gray who has been known to get some strike outs on his slider. Gray has been putting up consistently modest numbers and has yet to face Texas so far this season. Yes, the home run ball worries me a bit but this is the perfect hedge game. Gray did struggle in his last outing allowing two homers and six earned runs. Invest in exposure to Texas’ pitcher as well. I truly believe the 9.5 under/over is way too high! I will be betting the under for this match up today. Stay tuned for more information as the lineups start coming in.
