MLB DFS: Aces and Bases – 9/11 (FanDuel Main Slate)

Today’s edition of Aces and Bases focuses ONLY on FanDuel’s eight-game MLB DFS Main Slate for 7:10PM ET, hopefully finding you some green screens!

No rain in the forecast but we do have winds blowing out in St. Louis for the Reds-Cards game — something to consider for Cincinnati GPP stacks.

MLB DFS: The Aces

Top MLB DFS Ace: Walker Buehler ($9,700)

We can chalk up his last outing (3 IP, 7 H, 1 K, 6 ER @SF) to a bad day, and his last start vs. the Padres yielded a solid outcome. The K rate is down a bit in 2021, but the walks are down, the ground ball rate has increased and the solid 2.31 ERA isn’t too far separated from the 3.18/3.59 FIP/xFIP combo. We’re looking at about a 35-40 point projections here, with a 50-point ceiling, and that’s good enough to make him the top SP for cash games and single-entry.

Best GPP Value: Charlie Morton ($9,000)

Morton looks like a solid value tonight against the Marlins, who have the second-highest team K% in MLB. The veteran’s upside probably even exceeds Buehler’s tonight given the matchup, and that upside comes with a built-in discount from the top two arms on the slate in Buehler and Luis Castillo. I’m not as interested in Castillo because of how he can get lit up, especially against a team filled with potent bats like the Cards, but he’d make for a semi-contrarian choice given that tougher matchup. Morton seems to fit the best and carry the highest chance of notching both a QS and W, so he’s my first choice for GPPs.

Contrarian GPP Play: Luis Garcia ($8,300)

Garcia isn’t a very exciting play, but if we need a leverage pivot with some upside, he’s probably it. His ownership should be lower than Morton’s, and he’s seen an uptick in velocity on his pitches lately. The problem is that he’s got a much lower floor than either Morton or Buehler, and while the price is severely discounted compared to DraftKings, he hasn’t notched double-digit Ks in any start this season despite a 10.41 K% because he rarely pitches six full innings.

MLB DFS: The Bases

Top Stack: Houston Astros

The implied run total is well over 5, and the Astros have been red-hot offensively over the past few games, so we should start any stack off with Alex Bregman ($3,200), and then play some combination of Jose Altuve ($3,800) and Yordan Alvarez ($3,400), Carlos Correa ($3,500), Kyle Tucker ($3,200) Yuri Gurriel ($2,900) and value options Michael Brantley ($2,600) and Martin Maldonado ($2,100). There’s really nobody that’s out of consideration given the circular nature of this powerful lineup.

GPP Stack #1: Chicago White Sox

The prices are still relatively affordable for the White Sox (even moreso on DK), with Luis Robert ($3,900), Jose Abreu ($3,800), Eloy Jimenez ($3,500) and Yasmani Grandal ($3,800) all in play for stacks against Red Sox projected starter Connor Seabold. Andrew Vaughn is just $2,300, and both Brian Goodwin ($2,200) and Yoan Moncada ($3,200) are in play as well. It’s simply a great spot for mixing and matching a few different four-man stacks of White Sox.

GPP Stack #2: Cincinnati Reds

Miles Mikolas doesn’t scare me one bit, and while the Reds are a dynamic bunch who can disappoint on occasion, I like the four-man stack of Jonathan India ($3,700), Nick Castellanos ($4,100), Joey Votto ($3,700) and Tyler Naquin ($2,700) the best among this bunch, with Eugenio Suarez ($3,200), Max Schrock ($2,100) and Tucker Barnhart ($2,400) the best of the rest.

Bonus Value Stacks: Seattle Mariners, Minnesota Twins

Today’s edition of Aces and Bases focuses ONLY on FanDuel’s eight-game MLB DFS Main Slate for 7:10PM ET, hopefully finding you some green screens!

The biggest weather threat is in Cincinnati for the Tigers-Reds game, which if it plays will have to be through heavy rain. If the forecasts changes we can consider the Reds hitters against LHP Matthew Boyd, but this game has a good shot at a PPD so it might just be too risky even for bats.

MLB DFS: The Aces

Top MLB DFS Ace: Framber Valdez ($9,800)

There isn’t an SP play on the main slate without risk, but Valdez offers the best shot at a decent floor with GPP-winning upside. He’s likely where a lot of folks will be starting their cash game builds. If he can avoid the big blow from Fernando Tatis Jr. and navigate through the rest of this lefty-heavy lineup, I’m confident he’ll be sitting somewhere in that 29-46 point range where he’s lived comfortably in his last seven starts. Valdez sports a relatively pedestrian 22.4% K rate this season, but he’s posted at least 6 Ks in five of his last six starts and the Padres don’t necessarily destroy lefty pitching. This slate isn’t pretty for starting pitching, but Valdez is likely the best we’ve got.

Best GPP Value: Reynaldo Lopez ($8,100)

The White Sox starting rotation has taken some hits lately, with both Lane Lynn and Lucas Giolito on the shelf — at least temporarily. If Tony La Russa weren’t so old school, I’d be worried about Lopez going the requisite five innings he needs to pick up the win, but if “Pound-em-down” Tony says Lopez is starting, he’s probably willing to let him go 5-6 IP, which should be plenty long enough to make value against the Royals. Lopez had 42 FD points in his last start (against the Cubs) on August 27, striking out 7 in 5.0 IP and notching a win. We could see similar results tonight.

Contrarian GPP Play: Joe Musgrove ($8,800)

As WinDaily’s Adam Strangis points out in his MLB DFS Starting Rotation 9.4 article, Musgrove worked some magic against the Angels his last time on the bump, and gets another tough test facing the Astros — a team that just doesn’t strike out very much and mashes it around the yard (lowest K-rate in baseball, top three in wOBA, wRC+, OPS, and OBP). Musgrove is pitching this game in his team’s NL park, so that helps, and the most recent performance by the Astros against an ancient Jake Arrieta shows that at least they aren’t red-hot heading into the matchup. Both of the implied team totals in this game are under 4 runs, so it could really go either way. I’m assuming that Musgrove’s ownership will be much lower than that of Valdez. If Braves RHP Ian Anderson were looking anything like his 2020 self in his last few starts after returning from injury, I’d have some interest in suing him as a contrarian play in Coors, but that just doesn’t appear to be the wise move tonight.

MLB DFS: The Bases

Top Stack: Los Angeles Dodgers

We’ve got another huge total Coors game tonight, so if you’re believer they’ll finally give us the shootout we’ve been promised tonight — have at it. But the past couple of nights have given us the highest totals outside of Coors, which is where we’ll be focusing our attention for tonight’s slate. That starts with Dodgers against LHP Sammy Long in San Francisco in a revenge game. This lineup just lost first place to the Giants last night and they absolutely destroy fastballs, and that’s primarily what Long throws. I’m starting my stacks with Trea Turner ($4,300), Mookie Betts ($4,100), A.J. Pollock ($3,200) and Justin Turner ($3,800), but lefties Max Muncy ($4,000 — if he doesn’t sit) and Corey Seager ($3,800) are in play as well.

The Second-best Stack: Chicago White Sox

If you’re not into playing the juggernaut Dodgers in a pitcher’s park, then consider rolling out the White Sox, who project well against young lefty Daniel Lynch. Lynch has been solid lately and has some contrarian upside in his own right tonight, but the smart money (4.95 projected team total for the Sox) is on Luis Robert ($4,200), Jose Abreu ($4,100), Eloy Jimenez ($3,600) and Yasmani Grandal ($3,500) pulvering baseballs and giving us a big offensive night. Andrew Vaughn and his .380 wOBA vs. LHP is the best value option at just $2,500, while Leury Garcia ($2,300) who sports positive splits against LHP (.320 wOBA) makes sense as well if you need the salary savings and need to drop one of the bigger bats.

Value GPP Stack: Los Angeles Angels

The Angels offense just hasn’t been great the last couple of weeks, sporting a relatively weak wRC+ of 78 and .128 ISO over the past 14 days. But that all changes tonight against LHP Kolby Allard. On the season, the splits against LHP are solid, with a team wOBA of .322, ISO of .180 and 105 wRC+, numbers that match well against Allard and his ERA and FIP — both north of 5.00. Plus, the wind is blowing out to right field in a hitter’s park, and the temperature is the highest of any game in the slate. We’re going to see some runs scored in Anaheim tonight, and I’m starting my stacks with Shohei Ohtani ($4,500), David Fletcher ($2,900), Jo Adell ($2,500) and Justin Upton ($2,700). Max Stassi ($2,900) is in play if he starts, and so is “Fabulous” Phil Gosselin ($2,300) if he’s high in the order.

10/2 Betting Winners – Phil Naessens

If you are a Premium Gold subscriber, you’ll get access to a multitude of exclusive content. One of those features is Cash with the Flash, where Phil Naessens tells you his favorite bets for the day. Obviously with the one-game Wild Card going on, it’s difficult to decide where to put your money. However, Phil hit it on the head and if you followed his bet, you’d be sitting pretty with extra money in your bankroll.

10/1 DFS Winner: Juan Soto

Premium Gold members have access to databases like our MLB Projection Model. It would be difficult to leave Juan Soto off this article for what he was able to do in the N.L. Wild Card game. The box score shows Soto as 1-for-4 with two RBI, but his production was much more than that. In the eighth inning with the bases loaded and down two, he ripped a single to right. Rookie Trent Grisham, who is essentially replacing Christian Yelich, misplayed the ball and allowed the hit to clear the bases. This gave the struggling Nationals offense life and energized the team to a NLDS matchup against the Dodgers.

Outlook for the rest of the season: Juan Soto was the hero that Washington needed last night. The Brewers were shutting down the Nationals offense with ease for most of the game and their 20-year-old stud outfielder literally saved their entire season. Soto only had six total bases in five games against the Dodgers during the regular season so expect him to struggle a bit throughout the NLDS.

10/2 DFS Winner: Yasmani Grandal

Yasmani Grandal helped the Milwaukee Brewers almost steal the Wild Card game last night. Grandal finished 1-for-3 with a home run, two RBI and a walk. The home run was an early blow as many expected Max Scherzer to dominate, but after Grisham worked a walk to to open the game, Grandal homered on the first pitch he saw. The catcher has a mutual option for 2020 so this potentially could be his final game with the Brewers.

10/2 DFS Winner: Lucas Pouille

Another hit from our Cash with the Flash article as Lucas Pouille defeated Yoshihito Nishioka rather covincingly 6-1, 6-2. His next matchup will be in the quarterfinals against top seeded Novak Djokovic early Thursday morning.

8/26 DFS Hitting Picks and Prop Plays: Brewin’ Birds

It’s Monday, which means it’s a travel day for numerous MLB teams. That’s why we have only eight games in total and seven in the night slate. We’re going to go ahead and eliminate the one day game between Colorado and Atlanta because there really won’t be much action on that game for DFS purposes. What’s interesting here is that we have five of the eight games being played in pitcher’s parks, so we’re going to try to avoid those if possible. So, let’s get into our 8/26 DFS Hitting picks for the night slate.

8/26 DFS Hitting Catcher

Yasmani Grandal, MIL vs. STL

DK ($4,600) FD ($3,100)

In such a limited slate, I was pleased that we were able to find such a good catcher at such a reasonable price. The simple fact is, Grandal is in the midst of a career year and he’s recording some of the best numbers among anyone at the catcher position. In fact, Grandal is generating a .381 OBP and .848 OPS this season, which are both Top-5 among catchers. Getting to hit from the left side is the main reason we like Grandal, with the Milwaukee battery mate posting a .483 SLG and .826 OPS against right-handers since 2017. That’s huge against Adam Wainwright and we’ll go over his struggles in our third base write-up.

8/26 DFS Hitting First Basemen

Paul Goldschmidt, STL at MIL

DK ($4,500) FD ($3,700)

Goldy has had a disappointing season by his standards but we really like him here against a lefty in a hitter-friendly stadium like Miller Park. Let’s begin with that matchup, as he faces Gio Gonzalez, who’s pitching to a 4.17 FIP and 1.40 WHIP dating back to last season. More importantly, right-handed hitters have a .345 OBP and 1.50 WHIP against him in that same span. That’s huge for a guy like Goldy, who’s got a .426 OBP, .589 SLG and 1.014 OPS against southpaws for his career.

8/26 DFS Hitting Second Basemen

Gleyber Torres, NYY at SEA

DK ($5,100) FD ($4,200)

Any time the Yankees get a matchup against a lefty, they’re always in play for a full-on stack. Sending out a bunch of potent righties is the main reason why and Torres would be the main part of that stack. What we really like is his recent form, with Torres collecting 12 homers over his last 20 games. That’s led to him providing 32 dingers and a .552 SLG for the year, which is simply incredible statistics. He’s killed lefties in his career too, tallying a .538 SLG and .880 OPS with the platoon advantage in his favor. Tommy Milone is certainly not a southpaw we need to fear either and we’ll go over that in the outfield write-up.

8/26 DFS Hitting Third Basemen

Mike Moustakas, MIL vs. STL

DK ($5,000) FD ($3,700)

We foreshadowed Wainwright’s numbers in the Grandal recommendation, so let’s discuss why we like these Brewers. So far this season. Wainwright is allowing left-handed bats to accrue a .393 OBP, .377 wOBA, 1.86 WHIP and 5.86 FIP against him. Those are ghastly numbers and it really makes him someone we want to stack against in a place like Miller Park. Moustakas should play a major part in that damage, as he too is setting career-highs in AVG, OBP, SLG and OPS. The Moose is really letting it loose right now too, generating a .500 OBP and 1.000 SLG over his last six games en route to a 1.500 OPS.

8/26 DFS Hitting Shortstop

Paul DeJong, STL at MIL

DK ($4,400) FD ($3,400)

Those aforementioned numbers from Gio Gonzalez put many of the Cardinals bats in play, with Goldy, Marcell Ozuna and DeJong being the cream of the crop. The slugging shortstop usually finds himself batting third for the RedBirds and it’s no surprise when you see his career .473 SLG and .794 OPS. That’s huge from a guy who has four dingers in his last 11 games and 10 homers across his last 34 fixtures. DeJong getting the platoon advantage is simply the icing on the cake, with the shortstop producing a .357 OBP against lefties so far this season.

8/26 DFS Hitting Outfielders

Aaron Judge, NYY at SEA

DK ($4,600) FD ($4,100)

Let’s get into Tommy Milone, as he makes the Yankees one of the best stacks of the day. The Seattle southpaw is currently pitching to a 4.84 ERA, which looks even worse when you see his 7.02 ERA and 1.44 WHIP over his last seven starts. That definitely puts Judge in play, with the big man posting a .483 OBP and 1.120 OPS against lefties this season. Those brilliant numbers are coming in a down year, as Judge’s 96.5 MPH exit velocity and 58.4 percent hard-hit rate happen to be the best marks in MLB, which indicates even more positive regression is headed his way.

A.J. Pollock, LAD at SD

DK ($4,400) FD ($3,400)

Pollock has been dealing with injuries throughout his career but he’s always in play when he’s healthy. The reason we like him today is because he gets to face a lefty, with the Dodgers typically batting him leadoff in these circumstances. That’s really no surprise when you see that he has a .369 AVG, .425 OBP, .523 SLG and .948 OPS against lefties so far this season. That’s all you can ask for from a player who has a .383 OBP, .590 SLG and .973 OPS over his last 30 fixtures. Not to mention, he faces Eric Lauer and his 4.47 ERA and 1.40 WHIP.

Corey Dickerson, PHI vs. PIT

DK ($4,700) FD ($3,500)

Dickerson is always a favorite of mine against righties. The simple fact is, this dude is one of the best hitters in the game against right-handed pitching. That’s evident by his .364 wOBA, .534 SLG, .868 OPS and .243 ISO against righties for his career. Those numbers are even better this year, with Dickerson generating a .981 OPS with the platoon advantage in his favor. Dickerson happens to be raking right now too, hitting .340 over his last 27 games en route to a .649 SLG and 1.013 OPS. That’s the opposite of what Joe Musgrove is doing, with the Pirates righty pitching to a 7.03 ERA and 1.41 WHIP over his last eight starts. That’s even scarier in a hitter’s haven like Citizen’s Bank Ballpark.

Adam Wainwright Under 5.5 Strikeouts

Play MLB Player Prop Games and Get 100 Percent Bonus!

Seeing as how we love the Brewers, this prop seems like a great pick. I don’t anticipate Wainwright getting past the fifth inning and that’s truly scary against this lefty-heavy lineup. Wainwright’s 20 percent K rate against lefties and his aforementioned struggles against southpaw bats only add to the value of this prop.

8/21 DFS Hitting Catcher

Yasmani Grandal, MIL at STL

DK ($3,900) FD ($3,100)

Catcher is undoubtedly the weakest position in fantasy baseball but Grandal always softens the blow with his impressive power. While he’s been struggling recently, he’s still on pace to set career-highs in AVG, SLG and OPS. A .377 OBP and .848 OPS shows just how special this guy can be, as he’s actually been much better batting from the left side. Since last season, Grandal has an .361 OBP and .842 OPS against righties and gets a superb matchup against Adam Wainwright here. The St. Louis right-hander is currently allowing left-handed bats to post a .383 OBP, .502 SLG and .368 wOBA against him this season, which is horrifying against guys like Grandal, Eric Thames, Mike Moustakas and Christian Yelich.

8/21 DFS Hitting First Baseman

Jesus Aguilar, TB vs. SEA

DK ($3,600) FD ($2,800)

It’s unclear who will start at first base for the Rays but we like either Aguilar or Choi at their dirt-cheap price tags. We’ll go with Aguilar, since he’s the cheaper option. Since joining the Rays at the trade deadline, he’s been batting in the heart of this order and it’s easy to see why when looking at these numbers. Over his last 34 games, Aguilar is hitting .315 while providing a .379 OBP, .494 SLG and .864 OPS. That’s huge considering he gets the platoon advantage against Wade LeBlanc, who’s allowed 19 runs over his last four appearances.

8/21 DFS Hitting Second Baseman

Hanser Alberto, BAL vs. KC

DK ($3,900) FD ($2,900)

Alberto is always a favorite of mine against left-handers and it’s crazy just how low his price is being kept at on these sites. He’s done nothing but rake when facing lefties and that’s why the Orioles bat him leadoff in these circumstances. That’s no surprise when you see his .407 AVG, .533 SLG and .954 OPS with the platoon advantage in his favor. Those are bonkers numbers and it’s even more enticing when you see Mike Montgomery’s 4.63 ERA and 1.54 WHIP. Alberto happens to be rolling right now too, hitting .354 over his last 18 games en route to a .970 OPS.

8/21 DFS Hitting Third Baseman

Alex Bregman, HOU vs. DET

DK ($5,200) FD ($4,500)

This might be my favorite play on the board. I know that the Astros are my favorite stack and Bregman should be at the heart of that damage. The reason for that is because they face Daniel Norris, who’s pitching to a 4.82 ERA and 1.41 WHIP from the left side. That’s truly scary against all of these potent righties, particularly Bregman. Over his last 15 games, Bregman has a .422 AVG, .522 OBP, .857 SLG and 1.380 OPS. Those are literally video game numbers and it doesn’t even take into consideration that Bregman has a .661 SLG and 1.068 OPS against left-handers this year. Don’t fade the Astros and don’t fade Bregman!

8/21 DFS Hitting Shortstop

Corey Seager, LAD vs. TOR

DK ($4,200) FD ($3,400)

Seager has quietly been turning things around since the All-Star break and it’s about time that he starts living up to expectations. Over his last 13 games, Seager has collected nine doubles and three homers en route to a .630 SLG and .953 OPS. That stellar form. paired with this matchup, makes him one of the best values on the board. Not only does Seager have a .521 SLG and .875 OPS against right-handers this season, he also gets to face Jacob Waguespack and his 5.06 xFIP and 1.31 WHIP.

8/21 DFS Hitting Outfielders

Juan Soto, WSH at PIT

DK ($5,400) FD ($4,100)

Now that we got a bunch of the value bats out of the way, let’s get you some stud outfielders. Soto actually found himself into my article on Monday and we have to keep rolling with him the way he’s hitting. Over his last 19 games, Soto has collected 11 homers, 19 runs scored, 19 RBI and five steals en route to a .438 OVP, .824 SLG and 1.264 OPS. Those are absurd numbers and it’s truly amazing that this kid is only 20 years-old. We really like that he gets the platoon advantage against Joe Musgrove too, who’s got a 4.59 ERA and 1.22 WHIP, allowing 20 runs over his last five starts.

J.D. Martinez, BOS vs. PHI

DK ($5,100) FD ($4,200)

Much like Soto, J.D. is absolutely scorching right now. Over his last 43 games, Martinez is hitting .349 while generating a .416 OBP, .623 SLG and 1.039 OPS. That’s the dude that we’ve been waiting for all season long and he’s done a good amount of that damage against lefties. In fact, Martinez has a .477 OBP, .848 SLG and 1.325 OPS with the platoon advantage in his favor this season. That’s got to be scary for Drew Smyly, who’s got an ugly 7.09 ERA and 1.66 WHIP. Don’t forget about Mookie Betts either, with Boston and Houston being the premier stacks of the day.

Khris Davis, OAK vs. NYY

DK ($3,200) FD ($2,500)

This is a total punt play but Davis has a lot of power potential to be priced this cheaply. He’s in such a bad slump that he’s being priced around guys who are in the minors, but we will take the risk here. While he’s earned every bit of that price tag, he’s still among the league leaders in home runs dating back to 2016. He also has an ISO north of .250 in that span and he can swat two dingers on any given night. This matchup is more inducive to do just that, as he gets the platoon advantage against J.A. Happ and his 5.40 ERA and 1.37 WHIP. So far this year, Davis has an OPS north of .800 against southpaws, which is nearly 200 points higher than his OPS against righties.

Play MLB Player Prop Games and Get 100 Percent Bonus!

Mike Mongomery Over 4.5 Strikeouts

Montgomery has a 1.00 ERA and 1,06 WHIP over his last three starts while striking out 22 batters across 18 innings of action. That great form and elite K rate should fare well against an offense that ranks 26th in runs scored, 27th in OBP, 25th in OPS, 21st in K rate and 28th in wOBA.

Mookie Betts/J.D. Martinez/Corey Dickers Over 14.5 Fantasy Points

All of these guys found themselves into my write-up and I fully expect all three to perform in such a superb matchup.

Jose Altuve/Goerge Springer/Alex Bregman Over 6.5 Total Bases

All of these righties get to face Daniel Norris with an implied run total north of six. Look for these three to fo the majority of the damage.

For our 8/5 DFS Hitting Picks, we got some great options for you. We actually have a large 12-game slate, which is pretty surprising for a Monday. That is the ideal amount of games for DFS. though, and it should make for a fun slate.

8/5 DFS Hitting Catcher

Yasmani Grandal, MIL at PIT

DK ($4,200) FD ($3,000)

Picking catchers is always tough but Grandal is always one of the safest options on the board. That’s clear by his .373 OBP, .481 SLG and .854 OPS. Not only are those all career-highs for Grandal, they also happen to be some of the best numbers at the catcher position. We have to like him against Dario Agrazal, whose 6.21 xFIP is one of the worst marks in the game. It also puts Grandal on the left side, with the switch-hitter posting a .490 SLG and .854 OPS against righties since last season.

8/5 DFS Hitting First Baseman

Ji-Man Choi, TB vs. TOR

DK ($3,900) FD ($3,100)

Choi is quietly one of the best values in DFS right now and it’s time for these sites to take notice of his stellar play. What’s really changed things for him is the move to the leadoff spot, with Choi batting leadoff in four-straight games against righties. It’s led to one of his best stretches of his season too, with Choi hitting .500 in that span while collecting three doubles, six runs scored and six RBI. That’s no surprise when you consider his splits, with Choi generating a .376 OBP and .878 OPS against right-handers since 2017.

8/5 DFS Hitting Second Baseman

Rougned Odor, TEX at CLE

DK ($4,900) FD ($3,200)

I’ve had some great luck in recommending this guy and it’s easy to see why when looking at his recent numbers. Over his last 14 games, Odor has accrued three doubles, seven homers, 12 runs scored and 14 RBI en route to a 1.163 OPS. That’s the dude that we’ve been waiting for and he’s always one of the streakiest players in our game. The matchup against Aaron Civale is nice too, as it puts the platoon advantage in Odor’s favor versus a pitcher who’s only made one appearance at this level.

8/5 DFS Hitting Third Baseman

Jose Ramirez, CLE vs. TEX

DK ($4,800) FD ($3,700)

Much like Odor, Ramirez is one of the hottest hitters in the league. Over his last 27 games, Ramrez is hitting .313 while providing 22 runs scored, 11 doubles, nine homers and 27 RBI en route to a .988 OPS. That’s the stud that we’ve been waiting for and it’s scary that he’s one of the league leaders with 22 steals as well. The icing on the cake is this matchup against Ariel Jurado though, who’s pitching to a 6.70 ERA and 1.58 WHIP over his last nine starts. It also puts Ramirez on the left side, with the switch-hitter posting an OPS north of .900 against righties since 2017.

8/5 DFS Hitting Shortstop

Jonathan Villar, BAL vs. NYY

DK ($4,700) FD ($3,300)

Villar is a regular in my articles and recent results would indicate that we’ve been all over this guy. The 14 homers and 24 steals tells you everything you need to know, as that alone makes this price hard to understand. Any leadoff hitter with that power-speed combo is worth using in this price range, especially with his recent form. Over his last nine games. Villar has collected two doubles, three homers, 12 runs scored and seven steals en route to a .455 OBP and 1.121 OPS. That’s absurd production and it’s really no surprise that most of it has come against righties. So far this season, Villar has a .346 OBP and .765 OPS against right-handers while swiping 19 of his 23 steals. That’s huge against Masahiro Tanaka, who’s got an unsightly 10.59 ERA and 1.89 WHIP over his last six starts.

8/5 DFS Hitting Outfielders

J.D. Martinez, BOS vs. KC

DK ($5,100) FD ($4,200)

Martinez is starting to get hot and that’s scary from a guy who’s already one of the best hitters in our game. Over his last 15 games, J.D. is hitting .374 while providing a .464 OBP, .729 SLG and 1.193 OPS. That’s the stud that we were expecting and his .584 xSLG and .408 xwOBA would indicate that this streak will only continue. What really adds to his intrigue is this matchup, with Martinez posting a .455 OBP, .887 SLG and 1.341 OPS against left-handers this season. It happens to be a southpaw we want to exploit, with Mike Montgomery pitching to a 6.34 ERA and 1.77 WHIP this season.

Aaron Judge, NYY vs. BAL

DK ($4,600) FD ($4,100)

While I don’t really like this FanDuel price, it’s pretty hard to fade Judge on DraftKings at $4,600. That price is absurd for someone so talented and the hitting profile is still there. While he’s been struggling recently, this masher is still generating a .545 xSLG, .405 xwOBA and 97.8 exit velocity. That exit velocity happens to be the best mark in baseball and it’s just a matter of time before his numbers start turning around. A matchup against the Orioles is a great way to start the rebound, with Baltimore sitting dead-last in ERA, WHIP and home runs allowed.

Eloy Jimenez, CWS at DET

DK ($3,400) FD ($2,900)

Jimenez is going to be one of the best power hitters in the league in coming years and we have to capitalize on this price. I truly believe that he’ll be $1,000 more on each site come this time next season and it’s really no surprise when you look at his power potential. A .220 ISO speaks for itself, as that’s pretty much on par with the power stud that we saw in the minors. While Jimenez is struggling in his first few games off of the IL, we’re talking about a guy who had 11 homers in his 28 games before going on the IL. That power potential is especially tough to fade in a matchup like this, with Detroit sending out Drew VerHagen and his 11.66 ERA and 2.80 WHIP. We can’t fade a guy with so much upside in such a premium matchup at a price like this!

Lucas Giolito Over 5.5 Strikeouts

After another winner in our last article, let’s go back to the well with the K props. What makes this prop crazy is that Giolito has recorded at least four Ks in all 21 of his starts this season. He’s done that to the tune of a 30 percent K rate and gets to face a Tigers offense that ranks bottom-three in runs scored, OBP, OPS, xwOBA, xwOBA and K rate. I’m going to go bold and say he clears this prop in just four innings.

I’ll also be keeping track of my MKF picks from here on out so that you have a better idea of what I’m bringing to the table. I can only tack back to June but here’s where we are since. Record 22-14

DFS Stacks for Main Slate: Winning Edge for July 12

Welcome back everyone! I know we have a few “new” guys on the Win Daily staff, as well as a few subscribers. I just wanted to welcome all of you. This report will provide recommended DFS stacks for today’s 13-game main slate.

**Please check back this afternoon between 5-6pm EST. Possible updates to lines once starting lineups are released.

New York Yankees

vs. RHP Aaron Sanchez (TOR): 7.10 Runs

The Yankees lost two games in a row going into the All-Star break and had only lost two in their previous 18. They are clearly the best team in baseball right now, boasting a 6.5 game lead on the Rays and 9.0 on the Red Sox. We all know how tricky the AL East can be after the break. These teams can close the gap rather quickly given their talents. Look for the Yankees to keep their foot on the gas and truck their way into the post season. Aaron Sanchez carries a 6.16 ERA, 5.56 FIP, and 5.57 SIERA into tonight’s game. His splits are identical, holding .a 361 wOBA, .391 OBP, and .451 OBP on the year. Coming out of the break, The Yankees are slashing to a .364 wOBA, .247 ISO, and 126 WRC+. They are hitting well above their season averages.

Los Angeles Angels

vs. RHP Mike Leake (SEA): 5.60 Runs

Mike Leake hasn’t been awful this season, carrying a 4.32 ERA, 4.89 FIP, and 4.55 SIERA into tonight’s game. These +4.00 ERA stat lines seem more of the norm this season with the elevated scoring. Leake has identical splits, holding a .330 wOBA, .303 OBP, and .493 SLG through 114. innings pitched. He has the displeasure of facing an Angels team who hold the lowest strikeout rate in MLB. They average 6.87 strikeouts per game on the year. The Angels are slashing .to a 321 wOBA, .191 ISO, and .458 SLG to right handed pitching over a two week span coming out of the break.

Preferred DFS Stacks Build: Mike Trout ($4700 FD|$5300 DK), Shohei Ohtani ($3900 FD|$4800 DK), and Justin Upton ($3500 FD|$3800 DK).

Milwaukee Brewers

vs. RHP Shaun Anderson (SFG): 5.60 Runs

Shaun Anderson heads into tonight’s matchup holding a 4.23 ERA, 4.38 FIP, and 5.28 SIERA through 55 innings pitched. He has identical splits with a .320 wOBA, .331 OBP, and .417 SLG. I’m really hoping for a healthy Christian Yelich here tonight as he has been experiencing some lower back discomfort on and off this season. The Brewers come out of the break slashing to a .297 wOBA, .223 ISO, and .423 SLG to right handed pitching. The Brewers are only a half game back on the Cubs, who actively seem to be trying to hand the Brewers the division, but they have been having issues of their own. An unhealthy Yelich certainly does not give this lineup a ton of appeal. Look for the Brewers to get it together coming off the break.

Preferred DFS Stacks Build: Christian Yelich ($4800 FD|$5200 DK), Eric Thames ($3200 FD|$4800 DK), Yasmani Grandal ($3500 FD|$4900 DK), and Mike Moustakas ($3900 FD|$4700 DK) if you prefer a full stack on FD.

San Diego Padres vs. LHP Dallas Keuchel (ATL): 4.30 Runs

Preferred Stack: Hunter Renfroe ($3000 FD|$4700 DK), Manny Machado ($3900 FD|$4100 DK), and Manuel Margot ($2600 FD|$3600 DK).

Oakland A’s vs. RHP Ivan Nova (CHW): 5.60 Runs

Preferred Stack: Matt Chapman ($3900 FD|$4800 DK), Matt Olson ($3800 FD|$5100 DK), Mark Canha ($2800 FD|$4300 DK), and Ramon Laureano ($3100 FD|$4500 DK).

St. Louis Cardinals vs. LHP Robbie Ray (ARZ): 4.50 Runs

Catcher – Yasmani Grandal vs. Steven Brault

FanDuel: $3,500 DraftKings: $4,800

The Brewers’ catcher has a .284 ISO versus left-handed pitchers in 2019. Grandal also has a .385 wOBA against lefties. Grandal should take advantage and keep crushing righties in this one while leading your DFS lineup to the green.

Value:

Buster Posey

DraftKings: $3,000

First Base – Joc Pederson vs. Chi Chi Gonzalez

FanDuel: $4,000

Pederson has a .340 ISO and a .379 wOBA against right-handed pitching this season. And now he faces a below league average pitcher in Coors Field. If playing on DraftKings, the Chicago Cubs’ Anthony Rizzo is your play. Either option should do just fine for your DFS hopes.

Jesus Aguilar

FanDuel: $2,500 DraftKings: $3,300

Second Base – Mike Moustakas vs. Steven Brault

FanDuel: $3,800 DraftKings: $5,100

The Brewers’ Moustakas has a .315 ISO, a .393 wOBA and a 142 wRC+ versus left-handed pitching in 2019. Look for those numbers to jump up after this meeting with Brault. The lefty is allowing a .374 wOBA against right-handed batters this season. Moustakas is a great DFS option on Sunday.

Keston Hiura

FanDuel: $2,600

Tommy Edman

DraftKings: $2,300

Third Base – Justin Turner vs. Chi Chi Gonzalez

FanDuel: $3,900

The Dodgers third baseman has a .374 wOBA versus right-handed pitching in 2019. If playing on DraftKings, your preferred third base play is the Nationals’ Anthony Rendon. Both third basemen are good DFS options.

Value:

Vladimir Guerrero Jr.

FanDuel: $3,000 DraftKings: $3,500

Shortstop – Trea Turner vs.Jordan Zimmermann

FanDuel: $4,400 DraftKings: $5,300

Zimmermann has a 5.20 xFIP against righties. Turner has a .238 ISO and a .356 wOBA versus right-handed pitchers in 2019. Turner should be plenty good enough for your DFS lineups.

Value:

Tommy Edman

FanDuel: $2,500

Jose Peraza

DraftKings: $3,100

Outfield – Cody Bellinger vs. Chi Chi Gonzalez

FanDuel: $5,200 DraftKings:

Bellinger has a .356 ISO and a .457 wOBA versus right-handed pitching. Look for Bellinger to produce big DFS numbers on Sunday.

Outfield – Kyle Schwarber vs. Anthony DeSclafani

FanDuel: $3,300 Draftkings: $4,200

Schwarber has a .244 ISO against right-handed pitching in 2019. He should add excellent value to your DFS entries.

Value:

Ryan Braun

FanDuel: $3,100

Bobby Bradley

FanDuel: $2,200

Stephen Piscotty

DraftKings: $3,600

Top Stacks

Cleveland Indians:

After letting us down yesterday, the Indians’ offense will look to get back in good graces today. And Cleveland should have no problem doing just that with Baltimore’s Gabriel Ynoa taking the bump. The Orioles’ right-hander has a 5.17 SIERA and a 5.54 xFIP this season. With Ynoa allowing 2.38 HR/9 this year, expect us to be much happier with Cleveland and our DFS lineups at the end of the day Sunday.

Chicago Cubs:

A flyball pitcher (41.6%) that allows a lot of hard contact (44.6%) seems like a good place to start a stack. The Reds’ Anthony DeSclafani seems to be the perfect pitcher to attack with your DFS lineups. The Reds’ starter has a 4.44 xFIP and a 4.27 SIERA this season.

Milwaukee Brewers:

The Brewers have crushed left-handed pitching all season. As an offense, Milwaukee has a .210 ISO against lefties. The Pirates’ Steven Brault should be no match for the Brewers. The Pirates’ pitcher is not missing any bats this season with a low 9.8% swinging strike rate. The Brewers should put plenty of balls in play with success on Sunday. Milwaukee is a very suitable stack for DFS purposes today.

Los Angeles Dodgers:

Any time you can get the Dodgers against a righty, you fill up your DFS lineups with Dodger Blue. Los Angles has .216 ISO and a .347 wOBA versus righties this season. The Rockies’ Chi Chi Gonzalez could be in trouble in this one.

DFS Stacks for 6/28: Crack a cold Brew

With both Coors and Miller hosting games that could turn into high-scoring affairs, there might be a lot of cracking cold brews as we watch the numbers turn on the scoreboard and in our DFS lineups.

1.) Los Angeles Dodgers

Antonio Senzatela is no more than a below average pitcher. At Coors this season he holds a 6.21 ERA and has given up five long balls. What doesn’t help his case is that he struggles against lefties. So far this season he has given up a .336 BAA and a .531 SLG. With the likes of Joc Pederson, Max Muncy, Cody Bellinger and Alex Verdugo, good luck. The Dodgers are going to have a field day and carry your DFS lineups.

2.) Minnesota Twins

Carson Fulmer has had a horrible start to his young career. So far while at home in his career he holds a 7.81 ERA with a .390 wOBA. He is able to limit his hard contact, but he gives up massive fly ball rates. With the power hitters of Eddie Rosario, Nelson Cruz, CJ Cron and Jorge Polanco, there is no reason why they won’t chase Fulmer back to the minor leagues on your way to winning big in DFS.

3.) San Diego Padres

What a downfall for Michael Wacha. Someone with such promising talent that just lost it all this year. On the road so far this season he holds a 5.21 ERA. So far this season he has been very reverse splits and cannot get a righty out for the life of him. Against righties he has a .338 BAA and a .619 SLG. Hunter Renfroe, Manny Machado and the young phenom in Tatis Jr. should be the staples of your DFS stack here.

4.) Milwaukee Brewers

How bad are the Pirates regretting this Chris Archer Trade? Holllllllllly. Archer has been dreadful this year, but he has been even worse away from Pittsburgh (8.42 ERA). It seems like Archer has been better against lefties, but the underlying numbers show that he gets hit harder, more fly balls and strikes them out less. This makes me love Yelich, Mouse, Grandal and I also don’t mind throwing in Braun for DFS purposes. This is a very sneaky stack for me as I assume everyone will jump all over Coors.

The Brewers’ catcher has a .255 ISO versus right-handed pitchers in 2019. Grandal also has a .370 wOBA against righties. Grandal should take advantage and keep crushing righties in this one while carrying your DFS entries.

Danny Jansen

DraftKings: $2,100

First Base – Freddie Freeman vs. Joe Ross

FanDuel: $4,400 DraftKings: $5,300

Freeman has a .290 ISO and a .416 wOBA against right-handed pitching this season. The Nationals’ Ross is allowing a .369 wOBA to lefties in his career. Freeman should do well in your DFS lineups.

Tyler White

DraftKings: $3,200

Second Base – Jose Altuve vs. J.A. Happ

FanDuel: $3,800 DraftKings: $3,900

The Astros’ Altuve has a .389 ISO, a .473 wOBA and a 207 wRC+ versus left-handed pitching in 2019. Look for those numbers to jump up after this meeting with J.A. Happ. The lefty is allowing 2.03 HR/9 against right-handed batters this season.

Shortstop – Alex Bregman vs. J.A. Happ

FanDuel: $4,200 DraftKings: $4,900

Bregman owns a .333 ISO and a .385 wOBA vs lefties this season.

The reigning MVP has a .430 ISO and a .501 wOBA versus right-handed pitching. Look for Yelich to produce big on Sunday.

Outfield – Ronald Acuna vs. Joe Ross

Acuna has a .352 wOBA and a 111 wRC+ against right-handed pitching in 2019.

Top Stacks

Texas Rangers:

When the temperatures are hot in Texas, you want to get Rangers’ bats in your DFS lineups. And today is no different, especially with the White Sox’s Ivan Nova on the bump. The Chicago’ right-hander has a 5.04 SIERA and a 4.73 xFIP this season. With Nova allowing a 43% hard contact rate in 2019, expect the Rangers to take advantage of the hot temps and put the heat on Chicago’s Nova.

Atlanta Braves:

The Braves’ offense comes in red hot. Over their last seven games, the Braves have pounded out 13 home runs. In that span, they have a .244 ISO and a .385 wOBA. The Nationals’ Joe Ross doesn’t seem likely to slow them down any today. The Washington starter has a 6.04 xFIP and a 5.02 SIERA this season.

Los Angeles Dodgers:

The Dodgers have crushed right-handed pitching all season. As an offense, Los Angeles has a .211 ISO and a .344 wOBA against righties. The Rockies’ Antonio Senzatela should be no match for the Dodgers. The Colorado pitcher is not missing any bats this season with a slate low 6.9% swinging strike rate. The Dodgers should put plenty of balls in play with success on Sunday.

Value Stacks

Chicago White Sox:

The Rangers’ Adrian Sampson is allowing a flyball 41.6% of the time. He also is allowing a 46.3% hard contact rate in 2019. Combine the flyballs, with hard contact and mix it into 90+ degree weather and that is a recipe for trouble. The White Sox should feast of this recipe and do it at a discount.
