Sports Bets for 7.25

Welcome

I would like to welcome everyone to the Win Daily Sports Betting Section. We are dedicated to providing you with the best Sports Betting Picks possible.  I’m going to go over a few guidelines that will make the betting section easier to navigate. Today we will be going over our Sports Bets for 7.24.

Guidelines

It’s imperative to have correct bankroll management.  This can vary slightly person to person based on a few variables however around 100 units is correct.  It doesn’t matter how much money is in your bankroll as long as you are betting the correct amount of units.  The units that I will be attributing to each bet are based off of having the correct bankroll and the correct bankroll management.

Patience is immensely important to succeeding in both DFS and Betting Sports.  There will be some days that the Sports Betting Picks don’t work out.  Not pressing or doing anything hastily on those days goes a long way toward winning at the end of the year.  There will also be some days that don’t have many bets at all.  You need to accept that and not bet games just to get more action.

All of this is intended for your benefit and to create a winning community and provide the best Sports Betting Picks.  I will be in the Discord chat numerous times throughout the week.  Any questions or concerns you may have don’t hesitate to ask.  I look forward to creating this community with all of you.

The Bets

White Sox +102 1 to win 1.02 DK
Phillies -168 2.1 to win 1.25 FD
Rays -143 1.79 to win 1.25 MGM
Braves -110 1.38 to win 1.25 DK
Reds/Astros parlay +100 1.25 to win 1.25 MGM

Monday July 13th had two significant events happen the NHL. It was the first day of Phase Three, which means training camps have begun for the quest to raise the Stanley cup. As well, 5pm eastern was the latest that players could opt out of playing in the playoffs. A lot of significant notes that could have a drastic outcome on futures bets for these play in series. Here is some of the most important NHL Opt Outs and Phase Three News.

NHL OPT OUTS

A total of six players and one assistant coach have decided not to return to the NHL for the conclusion of the 2019-2020 season. Sven Baertschi (Vancouver Canucks), Steven Kampfer (Boston Bruins) and Karl Alzner (Montreal Canadians) have all decide to opt out, however most of their time this season was spent in the American Hockey League.

Coaches are integral in Hockey, especially during the playoffs. It is unsure what the Florida Panthers will be missing with Assistant Coach Mike Kitchens opting out. He is the only coach to have made the decision to miss the playoffs.

Mike Green (Edmonton Oilers) held a wealth of playoff experience and could have made the NHL’s number one power play even that much better. After being traded to the Oilers from Detriot, Green only played two game with Edmonton before sustaining an injury. As much as Mike Green’s presence will be missed, he never really had a chance to cement a place on the team.

Roman Polak (Dallas Stars) played 41 games this season registering four assists. With Dallas having a younger defensive core, Polak’s experience could have been a value here. Polak is in the last year of his contract and has already signed a deal in the Czech Republic. He has decided not to risk a return to the NHL.

The biggest blow to a team was the first player to opt out of returning to play. Travis Hamonic (Calgary Flames) was a mainstay on the penalty kill and Calgary’s second defensive paring. His strong skating ability and grit will surely be missed. Look for Derek Forbort or Michael Stone to fill this role for the Flames.

Significant Notes from Day one of Phase Three

Max Domi (Montreal Canadians) has decided to wait a week, to see how things play out. He has type one diabetes and is more susceptible to complications with Covid 19. It will not put his mind at ease, as Montreal reported three of Domi’s teammates, tested positive for the virus today. This would be a big blow as Max was a solid second line centre for the Canadians. The Habs are already +163 dogs to defeat the Pittsburgh Penguins according to DraftKings Sportsbook.

Speaking of the Penguins, they held nine players off the ice today. It was confirmed they had come in contact with someone that had Covid 19.

Buddy Robinson and Dillon Dube, were not at the opening day of training camp for the Calgary Flames. This is significant because I believe the depth forwards are a major part of Calgary getting passed their opening round play in series against the Winnipeg Jets.

Chicago Blackhawks goaltender, Corey Crawford was deemed unfit to play today. This will be a big story to watch as Crawford is by far the strongest of the Blackhawks puck stoppers. Chicago is already a +145 underdog in their series against the high scoring Edmonton Oilers. Leaving Malcolm Subban our Collin Delia tending the twine could see a spike in that +145, that DraftKings Sportsbook currently has them at.

In original NHL playoffs futures article, I was high on the New York Rangers to beat the Carolina Hurricanes as a +120 underdog. Today we found out that defensemen Dougie Hamilton and Sami Vatanen will return for the Hurricanes. This in my opinion will make this series significantly tighter, as this pair add defensive depth and a scoring touch from the back end.

UFC Vegas 4: Poirier vs Hooker Picks and Preview

This weekend, the UFC Vegas 4 event at their Apex facility will play home to a high-stakes lightweight fight between two top contenders, Dustin Poirier and Dan Hooker. Poirier is the former interim lightweight champion, while Hooker, who is from City Kickboxing the same home as UFC middleweight champion Israel Adesanya. As Hooker looks to continue to rise up the lightweight division, he comes into this fight on a three-fight winning streak with wins over Paul Felder, Al Iaquinta, and James Vick. The rest of the card will be filled with young and fresh faces that not many will know, but there are some good opportunities to cash in on the rest of the card.

These odds are courtesy of PointsBet.
You can also find alternate lines at DraftKings Sportsbook and FanDuel Sportsbook.

Fight 1: Jordan Griffin (+100) vs Youssez Zalal (-125)

The veteran fighter, in comparison throws more strikes than Zalal but also takes more as well. Zalal utilizes his wrestling more than Griffin in comparison, but you should expect this fight to go to the ground.

It’s a pick’em fight so Mike’s pick: Zalal by submission

Fight 2: Jinh Yu Frey (+140) vs Kay Hansen (-175)

Both women are making their UFC debuts after spending their young careers in Invicta FC. Hansen is now the youngest fighter on the UFC roster and has half of her wins by submission. Frey is the more experienced fighter and former Invicta FC atomweight champion, with 6 of her 9 wins going to decision.

Mike’s pick: Hansen by decision

Fight 3: Takashi Sato vs Jason Witt (Currently no line)

This one is rare as Witt has stepped in on 24 hours notice to take on Sato after his original opponent had a cornerman test positive for COVID-19. There is no money line at this time, so avoid this fight.

Fight 4: Luis Pena (-270) vs Khama Worthy (+205)

This is my favorite fight of the night outside of the main event, because fireworks are not just promised, they’re guaranteed. Worthy landed the biggest betting upset in 2019 in his UFC debut with a first-round knockout of Devonte Smith. Worthy has more experience, but Pena has also delivered a showcase in each of his UFC appearances, as his only losses have come by split decision. Both fighters told the media they plan to meet in the middle and throw down, so a quick finish prop bet is not out of question. Pena is the safer pick, but Worthy has shown you cant’ bet against him.

Mike’s pick: Luis Pena

Fight 5: Sean Woodson (-500) vs Julian Erosa (+350)

These fights are usually eyebrow raisers, with Erosa coming in as the veteran but heavy underdog. Woodson is undefeated in his career and has a lot of promises to his career, but neither fighter wastes their time in the cage. Erosa comes in on a four-fight losing streak and facing an undefeated fighter, he has something to prove.

Mike’s pick: Sean Woodson

Fight 6: Tanner Boser (-112) vs Philipe Lins (-112)

A pick’em fight between heavyweights is just a fun fight to watch. Do not expect this fight to go to the ground, unless there’s a knockout occurring. They both share relatively similar cage experience, but after having his first two fights go to the judges, he will be looking to make a statement against higher competition.

Mike’s pick: Boser

Fight 7: Brendan Allen (-325) vs Kyle Daukaus (+240)

This is one of the most interesting fights on the card as Daukaus has an immense amount of talent and making his UFC debut against guy who has been looking for a fight. Daukaus will be the favorite in the striking department while Allen will look to utilize his wrestling. Allen has had multiple fights postponed and opponents changed during the pandemic, so there’s no telling how he comes into this fight other than amped up.

Mike’s pick: Kyle Daukaus

Fight 8: Maurice Greene (-230) vs Gian Villante (+180)

Big fan of this fight, but Greene recently changed camps to JacksonWink MMA in New Mexico, so it will be interesting to see what changes he has made since the move. Villante hasn’t fought since February 2019 but this fight should remain on the feet for the most part. Greene is very good in the clinch, but Villante has a takedown defense of over 80%. I expect this fight to stay on the feet and a finish to come sooner than later.

Mike’s pick: Gian Villante

Fight 9: Mike Perry (-325) vs Mickey Gall (+240)

This fight is quite interesting from the betting line standpoint. Mickey Gall is ridiculously talented, especially on the ground. Mike Perry comes to fight and is not afraid of a war, but if Gall gets this to the ground, it could be over quick.

Mike’s pick: Mickey Gall

Fight 10: Dustin Poirier (-225) vs Dan Hooker (+175)

This is a very risky fight from a gambling perspective. Poirier is the former interim lightweight champion and had Khabib Nurmagomedov in a serious choke in their fight last September. Hooker is coming in with a lot of momentum, and this fight should be more of a kickboxing fight than anything. The fact that Poirier has gone toe-to-toe with some of the most elite fighters over his career, gives him the edge in my opinion, but if you’re feeling risky on a parlay, take Hooker.

Mike’s pick: Dustin Poirier

Australian Rules Football: ZakPRB AFL Check Marks 6.19

Welcome to ZakPRB AFL Check Marks 6.19. I have loved this sport since I first saw the Grand final while I was traveling on a bus tour throughout Europe with a clan of Australians. With the holdout in North America, I couldn’t find a better time to deeper look in into the world of footy! If you are wondering how this game is played, I have written a North American Guide to AFL that can be found here. Let’s drop the ball on today’s action. All lines are from Draftkings Sportsbook.

Welcome back AFL! We will be taking a bit of a different look at this column as we will be adding some players for DFS interest as it is now playable on Draftkings! Fantastic news! Let’s take a look at the Thursday Slate.

Check marks and exes: Round 3 (0-2)

The Richmond Tigers apparently decided to bring their B game last night and put up their second stinker since the return. Will keep this in mind moving forward

Western Bulldogs (+125) vs GSW Giants (-152) over/under 137.5 (-112)

Coming into round three, both of these teams are coming off of losses. The Western Bulldogs had a 37 point loss (88-49) to seventh place St.Kilda. The GSW Giants s had a 20 point set back (80-60) to the second ranked North Melbourne Kangaroos. Currently seated in the ninth spot in the ladder the GSW Giants defeated the eighteenth ranked Western Bulldogs 113-55. As both teams have been preforming to expectations, this line is a little bit odd to me. The average points for favour the giants by a 82.5 to 41.5 margin (41pts). The defensive average points against also is in favour of GSW to the tune of 76.5 to 87 (10.5pts)

My consensus for this match is to take the GSW Giants on the money line (-152).

Draftkings DFS notes:

As this is brand new to North America there isn’t much information on players. However we do have a points system and player layout.

How does AFL scoring work?
Lineups will consist of 9 players scoring points based on the below:

PlayersScoring
Forwards 2Goal +6 Pts
Midfielders 4Tackle +4 Pts
Defenders 2Kick +3 Pts
Ruck 1Mark +3 Pts
Handball +2 Pts
Hit Out +1 Pts
Behind +1 Pts
Free Kick For +1 Pts
Free Kick Against -3 Pts

Now that we know the point structure, let’s look at some of the DFS plays that will hopefully give us an edge. Just to note, there is only 4 players on the bench so even though the lock is in the middle of the night, you should have a pretty good chance that the normal starters will start. If there is an (I) after the name, that refers to them being an Interchange player for the game. This referring to them coming off the bench.

Sports Betting

The United States has finally given the okay to repeal PASPA and allow states to govern themselves when it comes to Sports Betting. Since 1992, PASPA (Professional and Amateur Sports Protection Act) has made Sports Betting essentially illegal everywhere outside of Nevada and Delaware.

There was a one-year period where states could allow sports betting that had physical casinos already, but many did not take advantage (and lost out on a lot of tax revenue).

In 1992, online was barely a thing and the idea that you could do about anything you wanted from a machine in your pocket was thought as a plot from a science fiction movie.

Online – The New Frontier

In 2009, 17 years after PASPA was put into place, Senator Ray Lesniak, a New Jersey State Senator, started to get backing in his questioning of the constitutionality of the bill. This was when the ball started to roll. By 2011, New Jersey put a constitutional amendment for sports betting up for a vote securing a majority with 64% of voters.

Senator Lesniak introduced the Sports Wagering Act which would allow for legalized sports gambling in New Jersey. A year later, in 2012, New Jersey law makers approved of the Sports Wagering Act and Governor Chris Christie signed it into law! After that, the NFL, MLB, NHL, NBA, and NCAA all sued Governor Christie and New Jersey to prevent sports gambling from becoming legal in the state.

Unfortunately for New Jersey, and the rest of the country, PASPA was upheld in the court of law during 2013. This lead Governor Christie and New Jersey down another path. Rather than trying to make sport gambling legal, they decided to propose ending the self-imposed ban on sports betting. By looking at it this way, their would be no violation of PASPA if the state was not involved. The bill was introduced and signed leading to New Jersey Casinos to start preparing the opportunity to have sports betting on site.

Again, the professional sports leagues and the NCAA stayed the course and the bill was shot down in the US District Court and the Third Circuit Court. In a twist, the Supreme Court of the United States decided to take the case on and hear both sides of the argument.

Governor Chris Christie at this point left New Jersey Office and on December 4th, 2017, Governor Murphy vs. NCAA took place in front of the SCOTUS. The hearing went well in favor of Governor Murphy and the State of New Jersey. By May of 2018, SCOTUS awarded Governor Murphy a 6 – 3 win repealing PASPA and allowing online sports gambling across states!

Nevada

We all know that sports betting and Las Vegas go hand in hand, within PASPA, any state that it was already legal in was fine. Nevada ran with this. They are currently behind in terms of Mobile betting though. Only partial currently, needing bettors to come to a casino to register before being allowed to only use their phone.

Delaware

Delaware actually beat New Jersey to the punch and legalized sports betting first after PASPA was repealed. They didn’t quite do it in the best way though. There is no Mobile Betting and the lottery is currently running the operation. This has resulted in low handles for the state.

New Jersey

New Jersey fought for states to legalize Sports Betting at their own descretion and it worked well for them! Easily the most advanced, handles have been going up since the start. Over $4.5 billion in handles for 2019 with over 80% of that money coming in through Mobile Betting.

Michigan

Michigan is currently opened up for Physical Betting only with Mobile Betting well on it’s way. Multiple online retailers have already announced partnerships with the retail casinos.

Mississippi

Mississippi is currently in limbo with only Partial Mobile Betting. You can walk into a physical location and place a bet in person, or electronically. Full Mobile Betting is expected to come in the near future.

Rhode Island

Rhode Island allows both Physical and Mobile Betting, with the Mobile Betting ran through a partnership between William Hill and the Rhode Island Lottery.

Pennsylvania

Pennsylvania is fully open for both Physical and Mobile Betting. In 2019, PA tallied over $1.5 billion in wagers, 3rd most in the country.

Arkansas

Arkansas is open for Physical Betting only. A bill to introduce Mobile Betting was announced by was turned down due to language within it.

New York

New York has not yet allowed for Mobile Betting to take place, Physical Betting only. There is a lot to gain for New York, so it’s expected to gain Mobile Betting eventually.

Iowa

Iowa has Physical Betting and Partial Mobile Betting. Before placing a wager on your phone, you must register at a Physical location.

West Virginia

West Virginia is fully live for Mobile Betting and Physical Betting. Take me home!

Indiana

Indiana has full Mobile Betting capabilities with an average monthly handle of over $100 million.

Oregon

Oregon was one of the few states grandfathered into PASPA, but never took advantage. Tribal casinos started to offer Physical Betting and the state lottery has taken over the Mobile Betting.

New Hampshire

New Hampshire has full Mobile Betting within state lines and is gearing up to have Physical Betting locations as well.

Illinois

Illinois currently has Physical Betting locations and these locations get an “18 month head start” from online only retailers. Each of the physical locations can allow Mobile Betting, but a person will need to register in the location. This will also allow for the stadiums in Illinois to apply for betting kiosks for in stadium betting.

Montana

Montana has legal Physical Betting and is allowing bars and restaurants to apply for licenses to allow betting in their establishments. Mobile Betting will only be allowed within these Physical Locations.

Colorado

Colorado has full Mobile Betting capabilities and is looked at as one of the most consumer and retailer friendly.

New Mexico

New Mexico has not passed a bill to allow sports betting, but Native American Tribes have interpreted that they are allowed under the current state tribal gaming compact.

North Carolina

North Carolina has legalized sports betting but has it currently limited to two Physical Betting locations. They are looking to put together a gaming commission to determine the viability of Mobile Betting.

Tennessee

Tennessee has legalized sports betting but it is still working out the kinks. They are looking at Mobile Betting ONLY with an added “feature” of allowing a bettor to win at 85% of their stake. This will most likely affect the wagers once fully operational.

Virginia

Virginia has legalized sports betting but has not gone online yet. They will allow Mobile Betting and Physical Betting. They are looking to have up to 18 online sportsbooks, similar to New Jersey.

Washington

Washington has legalized betting within the state, but has not made it possible yet. It will be limited to Physical and Mobile Betting in the states Tribal Casinos.

Washington D.C.

Washington D.C. has legalized sports betting but does not have it up and running yet. There will be Physical Betting locations and the Mobile Betting will be ran through Washington D.C.’s Lottery App.

How Do You Build an NFL System?

I am asked frequently how to create a winning betting system and how did I create over 3,000 betting systems spanning all major sports. Not to sound short, but the answer is one at a time. So, without further ado, here is the creation of a 70.6% ATS NFL betting system and learn how the parameters work together to produce these strong results spanning 30 seasons.

This Team was a Huge Disappointment Last Season

I am going to take a team that had a miserable divisionalrecord from the previous season where the team won just two of their six divisionalgames. Starting with a team that won just two of their six divisional gamesfrom the previous season and now facing a divisional foe in the current seasonproduces an unimpressive 956-905-54 against-the-spread (ATS) and a slightlybetter 973-903-39 ‘UNDER’ record since 1990. The goal is identify a team comingoff a horribly disappointing season that becomes significantly discounted bythe negative sentiment of the betting public.

Here is where the drilling starts. If I add that the team iscoming off a road win and is playing on the road now, their record soars to asolid 66-46-1 ATS record for 59% winning bets and the ‘UNDER’ bet improves to60-50-3 for 55% winning totals bets. Hold on, let’s not just get satisfied withthis result and look to improve on this advance.

Does the Surface Make Any Difference?

The NFL games are played on grass or artificial turfsurfaces, so lets take a look to see if that makes any difference in ourresults. When the surface parameter is applied the results jump off the page.Teams with the conditions that have already been mentioned above are playing ongrass their record is 31-22 ATS for 59% winning bets and when playing onartificial turf the record has been 35-24-1 ATS for 59.3% ATS record. Where themagic happens is on the total where the ‘UNDER’ improves to 36-22-2 for 62%winning bets in games played on grass as compared to 24-28-1 ‘UNDER’ in gamesplayed on the faster artificial turf surfaces. This makes sense that more ‘UNDERS’would occur on grass.

Game surface can be a parameter that changes everything

The system now conditional on two fronts. First, the system withther conditions set forth is to bet on the team regardless of the surface andif the game is being played on grass to also bet the ‘UNDER’.

A Discounted Team is Identified

With our team dressed more like a pig in the eyes of thepublic bettor, we do not want a dog of more than four points and prefer ourteam dressed as a favorite coming off the impressive road win from the previousweek. For instance, a slight dog that is not considered a good team is a trapbet made constantly by the betting public. Moreover, it is assumed incorrectlythat there is just no way this ‘poor’ team could possibly win back-to-back roadgames.

The Team Can Only Be a Modest Dog

Our team when installed as no more than a four-point dog orfavored in the game improves to 39-23-1 ATS for 63% winning bets and 35-26-2 ‘UNDER’regardless of the surface. When the game is played on grass we get close to theHoly Grail with a 24-10-1 ATS record for 70.6% winning bets and the ‘UNDER’earns a 21-13-1 record for 63% winning bets.

The drill down levels of the system allow you to grade the bet

Check out the impressive teaser records in the spreadsheetabove where the +6-point teaser sees the side win at 77% and the ‘UNDER’ at 80%offering another betting opportunity.

After Further Review

In summary, developing a betting system involves a bit of creativity and a complete understanding of what parameters work together well for that specific sport. In addition, you can develop the system so that the subsequent drill downs from the basic premise (that our team will be discounted) allows you to grade the bet and increase the bet size accordingly.
