This article focuses on 10/20 UCL Picks for DraftKings and FanDuel Sportsbook and FanDuel and DraftKings Daily Fantasy. We consider tournament tactics, statistics, pricing, and attempt to tackle this highly variable Daily Fantasy format so we can gain an edge on the field at large.

Tuesday 10/20 UCL Slate and DFS Gameplan

The Champions League has returned for the 2020 season and we begin with a six game slate beginning at 3:00 p.m. ET. Both sites have pumped up the contests a bit for what is otherwise a slow Tuesday and Wednesday in the world of DFS.

Barcelona sticks out like a sore thumb. They come into their matchup against the Hungarian Champions, Ferencvaros FC, as massive -1430 favorites. For comparison’s sake, the next closest favorites are RB Leipzig, who are at -435 for their matchup with Turkish Champions, Istanbul Basakhesir.

This means Messi will be nearly universally owned in all formats. His attacking mates Ansu Fati, Antoine Greizmann, and Phillipe Coutinho, will be popular as well.

As far as lineup construction, in cash you can just run Barcelona and even in tournaments, it is hard to get around Messi. It might make sense to just eat Messi and pivot from there. Players from RB Leipzig and PSG would be the next in play. Be sure to check players prices on both sites and take advantage as there are some tremendous disparities.

UCL Best Bet

Manchester United (+450) at PSG (-186) – 3:00 PM ET – Tuesday 10/20

PSG – *Money Line -186 – DraftKings Sportsbook*

DraftKings | FanDuel

The Betting Game Plan

Over the weekend, Manchester United was able to pour it on late against Newcastle to end their cold spell in the English Premier League. However, given United’s struggles, it is strange that we see PSG below -200 here, hosting them at the Parc Des Princes.

Manchester United did have a controversial elimination of an injury riddled PSG side in the Champion’s League a couple years back, but I doubt that there are any lingering effects. With the trio of Neymar, Kylian Mbappe, and Angel Di Maria all healthy, PSG should be able to handle a Manchester United side that has routinely struggled with mediocre EPL competition this season.

This article focuses on 10/18 EPL Picks for DraftKings and FanDuel Sportsbook and FanDuel and DraftKings Daily Fantasy. We consider tournament tactics, statistics, pricing, and attempt to tackle this highly variable Daily Fantasy format so we can gain an edge on the field at large.

Sunday 10/18 EPL Slate and DFS Gameplan

Unlike yesterday’s games, today’s slate varies between the two sites. DraftKings is only running a two game slate beginning at 9:00 a.m. ET lock whereas FanDuel will have a three game slate, with the late game featuring Aston Villa visiting Leicester City included.

Tottenham is the biggest favorite on the slate at -176 and both Harry Kane and Son Heung-Min will be huge chalk on both sites. It makes sense to build around the both of them and trying to pivot from there. Aside from the Tottenham combination, I would not do much stacking. This slate comes down to pairing the both of the aforementioned studs with the magic combination of players from the other games. Clearly on DraftKings with only one other game, the options are somewhat limited.

EPL Best Bet

West Ham (+450) at Tottenham (-176) – 11:30 AM ET – Sunday 10/18

Pick – *OVER 2.5 Goals -176 – DraftKings Sportsbook*

DraftKings | FanDuel

The Betting Game Plan

Tottenham has been pouring it on lately. Coach Jose Mourinho has finally been able to implement his system and the results have been showing. However, West Ham has a couple capable attackers as well. Therefore, the -176 bet on Over 2.5 Goals is ideal.

  • 5. Ollie Watkins – Aston Villa – $17
  • 6. Neal Maupay – Brighton – $17
  • 7. Leandro Trossard – Brighton – $15
  • 8. Youri Tielemans – Leicester City – $12
  • 9. John McGinn – Aston Villa – $14
  • 10. Solly March – Brighton – $13

This article focuses on 10/3 EPL Picks for DraftKings and FanDuel Sportsbook and FanDuel and DraftKings Daily Fantasy. We consider tournament tactics, statistics, pricing, and attempt to tackle this highly variable Daily Fantasy format so we can gain an edge on the field at large.

Saturday 10/3 EPL Slate and DFS Gameplan

This slate varies between the two sites once again. Both sites slates start at 9 a.m. ET but DraftKings is only offering the first two games, whereas FanDuel’s slate is featuring all three. This is becoming customary at this point.

The middle game between Manchester City and Leeds United “more on this below under best bets” will be the most popular. It has the highest total, includes all of the chalky, expensive Manchester City players, as well as a bunch of value from Leeds United. Both sites showed Manchester City’s defense a ton of unmerited respect by pricing Leeds United down so much.

Gabriel Jesus remains out for Manchester City, as well as Sergio Aguero. Riyad Mahrez should lead the line once again, with Raheem Sterling, Kevin De Bruyne, and Phil Foden supporting him in the attack. In terms of ownership, KDB, followed by Mahrez, followed by Sterling, should be the most popular players on the slate.

Beyond Manchester City and Leeds United

The first game presents some potential pivots from Everton. I expect Lucas Digne to be rightfully highly owned at a weak defender position on DraftKings. James Rodriguez has made Everton into a much better team. It looks like Richarlison will be out for this game, after twisting his ankle mid-week. As a result, Rodriguez and the absolutely red hot Dominic Calvert-Lewin will be the main plays in the attack. They represent contrarian pivots from the Manchester City forwards.

On the other side of this game, Neal Maupay and Leandro Trossard have been quietly very good so far this season. However, keep in mind they will be on the road at Everton and this is not a spot with a ton of upside. Therefore, I would limit them to low money entries in larger field tournaments, just for ownership edge on a small slate.

The final game is FanDuel only and it should be low scoring. More than anything we will want to roster goalies. If mass multi entering, you will probably want to hedge both sides, hoping that one of the two goaltenders grabs a clean sheet win and caps off your tournament victory. You can also use the defensemen as you wish. At only $7, in a game with fairly even odds, I expect last year’s highest scoring goaltender Nick Pope to be extremely popular.

EPL Best Bets

Manchester City (-295) at Leeds United (+750) – 12:30 PM ET – Saturday 10/3

Picks – *OVER 3.5 Goals -106 – FanDuel Sportsbook, OVER 2.5 Goals – -286 – DraftKings Sportsbook*

DraftKings | FanDuel

The Betting Game Plan

Leeds United has been extremely defensively challenged to start off the season. Two of their three games have been a 4-3 away loss at Liverpool and a 4-3 win away at Fulham. Their coach has been adamant that they would not try to adapt their open play style any time soon. That could prove to be a disaster against a team that can pour it on like Manchester City.

On the flip side, Manchester City has had plenty of defensive woes of their own. They are coming off a humiliating 5-2 home loss at the hands of Leicester City. They gave up a hat trick to Jamie Vardy and generally looked lost and confused all game.

Nathan Ake was brought in from recently relegated Bournemouth to make an impact at center back. However, he has not been able to make a huge difference aside from his goal off a corner kick last week. Manchester City has been missing his counter part Aymeric Laporte, who should finally start alongside Ake for this game. Nevertheless, I think Leeds United will be able to score at least a goal or two here, as Manchester City tries to work out their defensive kinks and figure things out.

This article focuses on 9/27 EPL Picks for DraftKings and FanDuel Sportsbook and FanDuel and DraftKings Daily Fantasy. We consider tournament tactics, statistics, pricing, and attempt to tackle this highly variable Daily Fantasy format so we can gain an edge on the field at large.

Sunday 9/27 EPL Slate and DFS Gameplan

Today’s slate varies between the two sites. Both sites slates start at 9 a.m. ET but DraftKings is only offering the first two games, whereas FanDuel’s slate is featuring all three.

The first two games will be the most popular on FanDuel either way. Manchester City hosts Leicester City and Tottenham hosts Newcastle and both teams should be extremely chalky.

Gabriel Jesus will be out for Manchester City after picking up an injury that should keep him for out for awhile. With Sergio Aguero still out, expect Riyad Mahrez to get bumped into the starting lineup. As for the Leicester side in that game, James Maddison started mid week and may not be ready to start back to back games.

EPL Best Bet

Wolves (+105) at West Ham (+280) – 2:00 PM ET – Sunday 9/27

Picks I like – *WOLVES – ML – +105*

DraftKings | FanDuel

The Betting Game Plan

Wolves came up short last weekend against Manchester City, but also deserved better than the 3-1 final score would reflect. They will face a far less imposing opponent this weekend. West Ham has struggled at home over the last couple of years, setting up a perfect storm.

Given the plus odds on a Wolves away victory, I like the Wolves money line. Defensively, they should be able to handle whatever West Ham throws at them.

This article focuses on 9/21 EPL Picks for DraftKings and FanDuel Sportsbook and FanDuel and DraftKings Daily Fantasy. We consider tournament tactics, statistics, pricing, and attempt to tackle this highly variable Daily Fantasy format so we can gain an edge on the field at large.

Monday 9/21 EPL Slate and DFS Gameplan

Today’s slate is a two gamer with the later game the featured matchup of the two. It all begins with Sheffield United making the trip to Aston Villa and after that, we have title contender Manchester City travelling to Wolves.

Last season, Man City was swept by Wolves so they will look to avoid a third consecutive upset. For Man City, it is important to get the campaign started on a high note, as they look to regain the championship after an off year by their standards. Liverpool still looks susceptible as some poor form has carried over from the second half of last season and Chelsea is experiencing growing pains. Therefore, Man City stands out as an early favorite.

As for Wolves, it was a big week as they sent forward Diego Jota to Liverpool for $45 million. Their main man Raul Jimenez will continue with the likes of Pedro Neto, Daniel Podence, and Adama Traore, as his support in the attack.

Man City will be the chalk for DFS without a shadow of a doubt. Therefore, between that and the fact that Man City is expensive, Wolves stacks or mini stacks are definitely in play on both sites. The first game should have lower ownership but for a reason, as the projected total is over a goal lower. Furthermore, there are few appealing options in either attack outside a couple of Aston Villa players.

EPL Best Bet

Manchester City (-195) at Wolves (+540) – 3:15 PM ET – Monday 9/21

Picks I like – *Manchester City ML (-195), Draw (+340) and if feeling frisky, Manchester City to win both halves DK Sportsbook Odds Boost +350*

DraftKings | FanDuel

The Betting Game Plan

Wolves have won two straight against Man City but hard to imagine their dominance against them continues. However, it is worth noting that the Citizens might be a little bit rusty, as they have not played in nearly a month.

However, the addition of Nathan Ake gives them a top notch defensive piece they could’ve surely used last year. It is unfortunate for them, their other dependable center back Aymeric Laporte will be out.

You can always hedge this bet with some Wolves DFS wise as Man City is still as priced up there as they would normally be in a better spot. Meanwhile, Wolves are basically free on both sites.

It is rare that we see Man City with longer odds than a -200 against a “non-elite” team, but people are buying into the recent narrative. However, I doubt that Wolves win here once again. I either see a Man City win or a draw. This game is way too important for City. Last time out against Wolves, they had an early red card and were also already pretty much eliminated from title contention. Things should be a little different this time out.

Saturday 9/19 EPL Slate “Matchweek 2/38”

We are back for Matchweek Two, and this slates features three decent home favorites in Manchester United, Arsenal, and Leeds United.

Manchester United is the biggest favorite on the slate at -335, hosting Crystal Palace at Old Trafford. Aside from a possible appearance from recent signing from Ajax, Donny Van De Beek, most of the lineup is unchanged from last season. This is a Manchester United team that made a lot of strides over the second half of last year. Particularly after the Bruno Fernandes signing, as he helped to fill the playmaking void this team previously lacked. There is not a lot of DFS goodness for Manchester United aside from the attack, but Bruno, Anthony Martial, Marcus Rashford, and Anthony Martial should all be popular.

Arsenal comes in next at -200 hosting West Ham, coming off a humiliating home loss to Newcastle. Their big addition over the off season was Willian, formerly of Chelsea. Arsenal are hoping that he can help fill the role of facilitator, helping to feed the likes of Pierre Emerick-Aubemeyang, Alexandre Lacazette, and youngster Eddie Nkietah. The former two are likely to start alongside Willian and Aubemeyang has the slates highest scoring odds at -152. Therefore, you can expect to see a lot of PEA on both sites as he is likely the most popular forward option.

EPL Best Bet

Fulham (+475) at Leeds United (-162) – Over 3 Goals (-110) – 10:00 AM ET – Saturday 9/19 – *LEEDS UNITED*

DraftKings | FanDuel

The Betting Game Plan

You can certainly roll with another one of the two favorites mentioned above, Manchester United -335 and Arsenal at -200. However, we get a little bit more juice odds wise pivoting from them with Leeds United.

Leeds had beat up Fulham 3-0 at home last season down in the second division. After a strong showing against Liverpool, they should be able to take care of business here. Furthermore, they have an extremely strong record over the last two years against teams they are favored against. Nonetheless, I think they get overlooked by bettors and DFS players alike, in favor of the more familiar faces.

Sunday 9/13 EPL Slate

The NFL is back and so is the EPL. For those, looking to release some pre-game anxiety, we have a pair of soccer games in the hours leading up to NFL lock.

The Sunday slate is a two gamer with the first game 9am ET between newly promoted West Bromwich Albion “West Brom” playing host to Leicester City. Directly following that, Tottenham will be at home, squaring off with Everton.

Leicester City had a disappointing end to last season, missing out on a final four position and a Champion’s League spot. James Maddison is likely to be out, leaving set pieces to Youri Tielemans. Meanwhile up front, they are still led by 33 year old Jamie Vardy, coming off one of the best seasons of his career.

The late game should be a good game. Everton played really well the second half of last year and certainly Tottenham has a lot of quality players with everyone fully healthy.

EPL Best Bets

Everton (+320) at Tottenham (-110) – Under 2.5 Goals (-117) – 11:00 AM ET – Sunday 9/13 – *EVERTON*

DraftKings | FanDuel

The Betting Game Plan

Tottenham will be home and has everyone back healthy. However, I think this is closer than the odds suggest. One potential wild card is the introduction of James “Hammes” Rodriguez, the nation of Columbia’s best player and new import from Real Madrid.

James will be a huge upgrade from Gylfi Sigurdsson and likely share set pieces with Lucas Digne immediately once on the pitch, but we will see if he starts right away.

Overall, there is more juice on the underdog and no incentive to take Tottenham at basically even money.

9/13 EPL FanDuel Rankings

Forward/Midfield

  • 1. Harry Kane – Tottenham – $23
  • 2. Son Heung-Min – Tottenham – $22
  • 3. Jamie Vardy – Leicester City – $20
  • 4. Youri Tielemans – Leicester City – $12
  • 5. Richarlison – Everton – $19
  • 6. James Rodriguez – Everton- $16 “If starting”
  • 7. Dominic Calvert-Lewin – Everton – $17
  • 8. Delle Alli – Tottenham – $16
  • 9. Kei Iheanacho – Leicester City – $16
  • 10. Matheus Periera – West Brom – $14

Defense

  • 1. Kyle Bartley – West Brom – $6
  • 2. Conor Townsend – West Brom- $7
  • 3. Seamus Coleman – Everton – $8
  • 4. Darnell Furlong – West Brom – $10

This article focuses on 8/23 UCL Picks for DraftKings and FanDuel Sportsbook and FanDuel and DraftKings Daily Fantasy. We consider tournament tactics, statistics, pricing, and attempt to tackle this highly variable Daily Fantasy format so we can gain an edge on the field at large.

8/23 UCL Showdown Slate

This year’s Champion’s League Final is absolute fire. There have been seven teams since 1967 to win a treble, consisting of a European Cup/Champion’s League Title, their domestic league title, and domestic cup competition win. The winner of this game becomes team number eight to do so, as these two powerhouses square off.

On one side, we have PSG, the French Champions seven out of the last eight years, who possess all sorts of firepower led by the trio of Neymar, Kylian Mbappe, and Angel Di Maria. PSG has never won the Champion’s League and this is their first final appearance.

On the other side, we have Bayern Munich, the eight time defending Champions of the Bundesliga, and absolute monster of a team. For them, only grabbing a 2-1 or 1-0 win is a really bad day. They have absolutely lit up teams like Tottenham, Chelsea, Barcelona, and Lyon, en route to this game. Bayern last won the Champion’s League in 2013 with Thomas Muller, David Alaba, Jerome Boateng, and Manuel Neuer, the lone holdovers. They have won the Champion’s League five times total.

There will certainly be plenty of goals. Bayern Munich will attempt to maintain their high line which should allow PSG ample opportunities to attack. However, the Bavarians will always be close to the goal in their own right.

UCL Best Bet

PSG (+210) vs Bayern Munich (+110) – 3PM ET – Sunday 8/18 – *BAYERN MUNICH – MONEYLINE*

DraftKings | FanDuel

The Betting Game Plan

Bayern Munich is just such a complete team, ultimately they should walk out with a win here and I think you just take the +110 outright win over the -185 odds for them to finish Champion, as to encompass the possibility of a 90 minute tie. The difference lies in some of the playmakers aside from the attack. The play of guys like young Canadian star Alphonso Davies, Joshua Kimmich, David Alaba, and others.

As far as individual odds, Robert Lewandowski at -165 seems a strong bet given his amazing goal scoring record. Lewandowski comes in to the final tied with Cristiano Ronaldo for 3rd most goals in a Champion’s League Season and can tie the all time record with two, with a hat trick providing him the record. If you want to be a bit more contrarian, Neymar +105 has been exceptionally unlucky over his last two games, hitting the crossbar numerous times and even slipping and falling down on a breakaway. He is probably due for some positive regression.

8/23 UCL FanDuel Rankings

Forward/Midfield

  • 1. Robert Lewandowski – Bayern Munich – $16
  • 2. Neymar – PSG – $15
  • 3. Kylian Mbappe – PSG – $14
  • 4. Serge Gnabry – Bayern Munich – $13
  • 5. Thomas Muller – Bayern Munich – $12
  • 6. Angel Di Maria – PSG – $12
  • 7. Ivan Perisic – Bayern Munich – $8
  • 8. Joshua Kimmich – Bayern Munich – $10
  • 9. Leon Goretzka – Bayern Munich – $7
  • 10. Thiago Alcantara – Bayern Munich – $5

Defense

  • 1. Alphonso Davies – Bayern Munich – $9
  • 2. Presnel Kimpembe – PSG – $7
  • 3. David Alaba – Bayern Munich – $6

8/23 UCL DraftKings Rankings

  • 1. Joshua Kimmich – Bayern Munich – $6,600
  • 2. Robert Lewandowski – Bayern Munich – $12,800
  • 3. Neymar – PSG – $10,600
  • 4. Kylian Mbappe – PSG- $9,400

8/18 UCL Showdown Slate

We are down to the Final Four in what has become the all French and German Champions League. Tuesday, we have the first of the two semifinal matchups as RB Leipzig squares off with the French Champions PSG.

For PSG, Kylian Mbappe is back to full health and should be back starting, and Angel Di Maria returns from a one game suspension. With their A Team back intact, this should be a much better PSG team than the one who needed a miracle in the final minutes to escape against Atalanta. If PSG wins, it would likely set up a juicy matchup in the Champion’s League Final against the competition’s presumptive favorite, Bayern Munich.

UCL Best Bet

Leipzig (+320) vs PSG (-130) – 3PM ET – Tuesday 8/18 – *PSG – MONEYLINE*

DraftKings | FanDuel

The Betting Game Plan

PSG will likely grab the win and move on. Leipzig is getting a bit of a betting bump after there have been a couple of recent upsets, so minds are frazzled. I think you just eat the money line as it is unlikely they go wild against Leipzig, but likely do just enough to win.

PSG would likely have better odds if not for the unimpressive showing last round, albeit a poor display with a watered down squad, based on all of the important players who were previously unavailable.

8/18 UCL FanDuel Rankings

Forward/Midfield

  • 1. Neymar – PSG – $16
  • 2. Kylian Mbappe – PSG – $15
  • 3. Angel Di Maria – PSG – $12
  • 4. Mauro Icardi – PSG – $13
  • 5. Dani Olmo – RB Leipzig – $12

Defense

  • 1. Dayut Upamecano- RB Leipzig – $7
  • 2. Marcel Halstenberg – RB Leipzig – $5
  • 3. Lucas Klostermann – RB Leipzig – $6

8/18 UCL DraftKings Rankings

  • 1. Neymar – PSG – $12,400 – CORE PLAY CASH
  • 2. Kylian Mbappe – PSG- $12,800
  • 3. Angel Di Maria – PSG – $10,000
  • 4. Mauro Icardi – PSG – $7,600
