Top Line

Dallas One – Jamie Benn, Tyler Seguin, Alexander Radulov

For our New Year’s Day slate, we have a one-game showdown slate centering around this year’s edition of the Winter Classic. It will be held open-air in Dallas at the Cotton Bowl. If looking to stack a full line, I would turn towards the Dallas top line. Nashville still has a reputation of being a solid defensive team but that hasn’t exactly been the case this year with 127 goals allowed on the season. A large part of the explanation behind this defensive downturn has been an uncharacteristically bad year for goaltender Pekka Rinne. Nevertheless, it makes sense to turn towards the Dallas side of this matchup given that they have the most talented line in the game, the goalie is much better formed in net and home-ice advantage.

1/1 NHL DraftKings Rankings

  1. Ben Bishop – Dallas Stars – $16,200
  2. Roman Josi – Nashville Predators – $14,100
  3. Pekka Rinne – Nashville Predators – $15,600
  4. Tyler Seguin- Dallas Stars – $14,700
  5. Alexander Radulov – Dallas Stars – $9,200

1/1 NHL FanDuel Rankings

  1. Roman Josi – Nashville Predators – $14,000
  2. Ryan Ellis – Nashville Predators – $9,500
  3. Jamie Benn – Dallas Stars – $10,500
  4. Tyler Seguin – Dallas Stars – $15,500
  5. Alexander Radulov – Dallas Stars – $13,000

Roman Josi, Tyler Seguin, Alexander Radulov – Over 2.5 Points – This isn’t the ideal combination but on a one-game slate, our options are limited. Let’s try to push the outer limits of this style prop bet.

Jacob’s Above Average Plays is going to end the year right with three winners ready to go. Jacob’s Above Average Plays has picked two College Bowls games and a game in the NHL that are sure to stuff your pockets long into the new year.

Take Arizona State Sun Devils -3.5 versus Florida State Seminoles (2:00 pm EST, Tuesday 31 December, 2019)

This season both of these teams were mediocre. Arizona State winning just seven games and Florida State winning just six. Neither teams have been particularly good at covering the spread this year either. Florida State covered just two games in their last seven played while Arizona State did not cover in four of their last five games. The edge in this game is coming down to which players are playing and why.

Florida State led this season by above-average starting running back Cam Akers. Akers gained an above-average amount of yards per rush gaining five yards per attempt. He’s run for 1,144 yards this year scoring 14 rushing touchdowns, and four receiving touchdowns. He’s declared for the draft and announced he will be sitting out in this game and that kind of takes the air out of the locker room, especially for a team already in turmoil. Seminole Head Coach, Willie Taggart, was fired and is gone from the team, so it will be up to his remaining staff, including interim head coach, Odell Haggins Jr., to prepare the team. New Head Coach, Mike Norvell, and his staff will not be involved in prepping the team for this game, so it makes for an awkward situation.

Arizona State, on the other hand, hopes to play an above-average game today in an effort to use this as a positive jump-off point to next year. Arizona State has an above-average start to the year winning four of their first five games before losing the next four in a row. They did, however, finish the season with two great wins against above-average teams. The Sun Devils beat Oregon as 13.5 point underdogs and beat arch-rival, Arizona, by ten. Arizona State is led by freshman quarterback Jayden Daniels whose thrown for 2,748 yards, 17 touchdowns, and just two interceptions. Arizona State is missing players and their offensive coordinator in this game, so Florida State isn’t the only one missing people. The difference here is that Arizona State isn’t dependent on one player as I feel the Seminoles are.

Arizona State wants to finish the year playing an above-average game so they can carry a win to next year and have a positive start. I think if they play this game all out against a depleted, coachless Florida State team (with nothing to play for) the Seminoles won’t play well and Arizona will prevail. I think that the Seminoles just want the season to be over. Lay the points with the Sun Devils

Take Kansas State Wildcats +2.5 versus Navy Midshipmen (3:45 pm EST, EST, Tuesday 31 December 2019)

Here we have two teams who have above-average scores, above-average rushing, and are overall, above-average teams. They both score over 30 points and hold teams under 23 points a game. These teams are also above average cover teams. Navy and Kansas State both covered nine out of the twelve games they played this year, but I like Kansas State to cover this one.

Kansas State played a much tougher schedule than Navy and that’s part of the reason I really like them here. Their schedule ranks 40th in the nation in strength of schedule so most of the teams they played have been above average and they finished the season winning eight of the twelve games they played. Their defense held teams to an average of 21.5 points per game, and while their defense allows 152.33 rush yards per game, Navy allows over 100 yards rushing per game, too, so I’m not really worried about it. Kansas State is rushing for an above-average 189 yards per game and that is going to allow them to control the clock and keep the Navy offense off the field. Kansas State also beat some really tough, above-average teams this year including College Football Playoff team, number four ranked, Oklahoma. The line for this game opened with Navy as one-point underdogs and it has now moved to Navy as a two and a half point favorite but it’s been the public driving that number up with Navy having 55% of the bets but only 46% of the money.

Now, don’t get me wrong, Navy is a good team. The Midshipmen have one of the top rushing offenses this year and covered seven of the last ten games they played. The reason I don’t like them in this game is that they struggled versus high powered offenses this year. They lost to Notre Dame (13th ranked offense) 52-20 and they lost to Memphis (8th ranked offense) 35-25. Kansas State has a similar offense to those teams and the Navy will struggle against it. Take the points with Kansas State as their rushing attack will control the game.

Take Vegas Golden Knights -141 in regulation (3way line) versus Anaheim Ducks ( 3:00 pm EST, EST, Tuesday 31 December 2019)

The Vegas Golden Knights finally turned the corner and became one of the better teams in the NHL while Anaheim continues to flounder. The Ducks are headed to Vegas to take on the Knights, which is not a good thing for them as they have won just six of the nineteen road games played this year.  Not to mention, Anaheim has won just six of the last eighteen games played overall and won just once versus Vegas in the last five games when playing them on the road. The Ducks are averaging 2.42 goals per game when playing on the road and are allowing an average of 3.47 goals. That’s a really bad thing when playing Vegas at home.

Vegas has played great lately, especially at home, winning four of the last five games played there. They averaged 3.33 goals when playing at home and rank second in shots on goal with an above-average 36.24 shots on goal per game. The Vegas defense stepped up recently too. Ranked in the top 15 in goals and shots on goal allowed, they hold teams to an average of just 2.93 goals per game and that spells trouble for a low scoring Ducks team.

Vegas used the Ducks as a punching bag for a while now and I see that continuing here today. The Knights are playing great hockey, especially at home, and Anaheim plays awful on the road, winning just six road games all year. Take the Knights to win in regulation at home.

( A bet to win in regulation means that the team you choose MUST win in the first 60 minutes. If the game goes to Over TIme, regardless if they end up winning, you lose.)

Top Two Lines

Edmonton One – Connor McDavid, James Neal, Zach Kassian

Unfortunately, as of the time of writing, it looks as if the Edmonton lines will be split up again. Hopefully, that will change at morning skate and we can get the Connor McDavid/Leon Draisaitl pairing that we all yearn for. However, I still like this current top line and there is the added benefit of some salary savings built-in. The Rangers have allowed at least three goals in six of their last seven games and travel on the road to Western Canada. Because Zach Kassian loses the luster that he previously had for much of the season as the third wheel of the McDavid/Draisaitl pairing, you can perhaps opt to run a power play-oriented line instead of with McDavid, James Neal, and Draisaitl.

Tampa Bay One – Nikita Kucherov, Brayden Point, Ondrej Palat

It is not hard to see goals on both sides of this game. Between Tampa Bay and Buffalo, this has one of the higher totals of the night with a couple of teams certainly capable of bringing the offense. The Lightning comes in favored but don’t overlook the Buffalo top line as well as they will be much lower owned. You can also pair Tampa Bay with Jack Eichel if not looking to full-stack. That said, Buffalo has been in freefall mode lately, so I would lean a bit heavier on the Tampa side, but hedge both. Tampa hasn’t really been at their best all season but you just can’t overlook what they are capable of. Prior to the letdown against Detroit, the Lightning had put up eleven goals in their previous two games.

Patrice Bergeron/David Pastrnak/Kyle Palmieri – Over 2.5 Points – This style bet has been consistent money recently. This game isn’t on the main slate but either way, you have to like the Bruins top line against the “lowly and pathetic” Devils.

Connor McDavid/Leon Draisaitl/Artemi Panarin – Over 2.5 Points – This combination just flowed as it came together. You couldn’t imagine choosing anyone else if picking three skaters between these two teams.

Welcome to WinDaily’s newest NHL article, the NHL Stack and Track! In this article, the 12/31 NHL Stack and Track, we will look at the top NHL stacks at each price range and rank the best and the worst goalie spots to target in tonight’s New Year’s Eve 9-game slate.

12/31 NHL Stack Report

  1. Florida Panthers One $$$
    Huberdeau – Barkov – Dadonov (FanDuel: $20,700 | DraftKings: $17,700)
    – If anything last game against the Canadiens proved why I rate Florida’s top line so highly. This line was involved in four of Florida’s six goals and together amassed four goals and five assists amongst themselves. Tonight the Panthers have a very favorable matchup as they are set to face off against the Colombus Blue Jackets who are beginning to slip away from their recent success which won’t be aided by the recent injury of their all-star goaltender Joonas Korpisalo. Instead of a 25-year old rookie, Elvis Merzlikins will get the start against the Panthers. Elvis has struggled tremendously this season, losing his first eight starts while sporting a 3.41 GAA and a .889 SV%, setting him among the league’s worst goalies this season.
Ideal Defensive Partner: Aaron Ekblad (FD: $4,900 | DK: $4,800)
  2. Philadelphia Flyers Two $$
    van Riemsdyk – Hayes – Konecny (FanDuel: $16,400 | DraftKings: $15,800)
    – This line has largely been flying under the radar but as of late they have been putting up impressive numbers helping the Flyers improve to five wins in their last six games. Both Konecny and van Riemsdyk appear on Philadelphia’s first power-play unit while Hayes plays on the second power-play unit. Altogether this line has contributed 9 goals and 10 assists during their recent 6-game surge. For tonight’s matchup, the Flyers are facing the Los Angeles Kings who have lost four of their last five games. The Kings have been less than impressive this season, finding themselves last in the Western Conference and third last in the NHL. The Kings are set to start Jonathan Quick between the pipes who currently hold a 3.05 GAA and a .893 SV%, not to mention has lost his last three starts. All of which bodes in favor of the Flyers tonight.
Ideal Defensive Partner: Ivan Provorov (FD: $5,700 | DK: $5,300)
  3. St. Louis Blues One $
    Schwartz – Schenn – Kyrou (FanDuel: $14,400 | DraftKings: $13,300)
St. Louis has been on a roll! The Blues, who currently find themselves on an eight-game winning streak heading into New Years, have benefitted tremendously from the hard work of their top unit who have put up seven goals and 12 assists over their last five games. Despite the Coyotes being favored in this matchup, the Yotes have dropped their last three games and hold a losing record at home (8-10-1), while the Blues have managed to hold the exact same home and away records at 12-4-3.
Ideal Defensive Partner: Alex Pietrangelo (FD: $6,300 | DK: $5,800)
[*Justin Faulk can work as a defensive salary saver (FD: $4,000 | DK: $3,700) *]

Honorable Mention(s): Tampa Bay Lightning One, New York Rangers Two

12/31 NHL Goalie Tracker

Best

  1. Carter Hart (FD: $7,800 | DK: $8,200)
  2. Sergei Bobrovsky (FD: $7,800 | DK: $7,400)
  3. Jordan Binnington (FD: $9,000 | DK: $8,300)
    Honorable Mention(s): Andrei Vasilevskiy

Worst

  1. Elvis Merzlikins (FD: $7,100 | DK: $7,800)
  2. Jonathan Quick (FD: $7,600 | DK: $7,200)
  3. Linus Ullmark (FD: $7,200 | DK: $7,400)
Honorable Mention(s): Jonathan Bernier, Corey Crawford (if he plays)

12/31 NHL Wild Card of the Day

Ryan Strome (FD: $5,800 | DK: $4,300
– From a 15-game goal drought earlier in December, Strome has really turned his game around and now finds him second in scoring for the Rangers during the 2019-20 NHL campaign. Strome has put up insane numbers as of late mainly due to his monster four-point performance against Frederik Andersen, an all-star goaltender. Strome’s quality performance has landed himself a spot on the Rangers top power-play unit and during even-strength play, he is paired alongside all-star and Rangers leading scorer Artemi Panarin.
Honorable Mention(s): Martin Necas, Ian Cole, Brady Skjei

12/31 NHL Monkey Knife Fight NHL Prop Picks – Win With These Picks Here and Get 100 Percent Bonus!

Jonathan Huberdeau – Over 3.5 Fantasy Points – Huberdeau has been Florida’s most productive player over their last six games and in those games he has reached the 3.5 fantasy point threshold five out of six times. Given that tonight’s matchup is against a goalie who has been struggling tremendously this season, all signs point to Huberdeau reaching this threshold yet again.

McDavid-Zibanejad-Panarin – Putting Up Points  This game has one of the highest combined implied totals on tonight’s slate and all three of these players have been absolute studs as of late. Together these three have put up six goals and eight assists in their last three-game and with struggling goalies on both ends of the ice, this could prove to be another form of fireworks set to go off tonight.

Honorable Mention(s): Artemi Panarin Over 0.5 Assists

Cash with Flash Best Bets went 2-1 on Sunday and that left us with an 8-6 record for the week. It wasn’t the finish we had hoped for, but Cash with Flash Best Bets finished the week on the plus side and that is really all that matters.

Bankroll Management

Can’t stress enough how important managing your bankroll is to your long-term success. I don’t know your personal financial situation or what your goals are but hopefully, you are using some type of bankroll management plan to help you reach them.

CASH WITH FLASH BEST BETS

It’s a slow sports day today but Cash with Flash Best Bets does like a couple of NBA games and an NHL game for today.

Ottawa Senators vs Pittsburgh Penguins  7:00 pm ET

Cash with Flash Best Bets: Pittsburgh -1.5 Goals

Pittsburgh has won their last five meetings and with the Senators playing its second game in as many nights, the Penguins should win this game handily. The line of -246 is a bit too high for my taste but the Penguins are 19-19 on the puck line and that’s probably where our bet should be placed tonight. The Penguins are 6-1 over their last seven games up against a Senators side that has lost three of its last five games. Pittsburgh is also 4-1 over their past five games on one day’s rest and also 4-1 after a victory. Cash with Flash Best Bets suggests playing the Penguins to defeat the Senators by more than 1.5 goals tonight.

Miami Heat vs Washington Wizards 7:00 PM ET

Cash with Flash Best Bets: Heat -9.5 Points

The Wizards aren’t a very good team, to begin with, and when we remove four key players plus a questionable for tonight Bradley Beal, and it’s easy to see why taking Miami tonight is a good bet. The Wizards allow more points per game than anyone else in the NBA does and while Washington still scores a fourth-best 116 points per game, the Heat are one of the better defensive teams in the NBA. With the exception of Justice Winslow, Miami is healthy and enters this matchup riding a five-game winning streak and is 9-7 away from Miami up against a home team that is 4-8 at home this season. Cash with Flash Best Bets suggests laying the points and playing Miami to cover tonight.

Phoenix Suns vs Portland Trail Blazers  10:00 pm ET

Cash with Flash Best Bets: Trail Blazers -180 Money Line

Neither team has played very well recently; the Suns are coming off a 112-100 road win over the Sacramento Kings that ended an eight-game losing streak. Portland has lost three straight contests with their most recent loss a 128-120 home loss to the Los Angeles Lakers. I would love to recommend laying the four points and playing the Trail Blazers, but Portland is a strange team and is just 13-18-2 against the spread (ATS) this season. The Trail Blazers are a much better team and should win this game. Cash with Flash Best Bets suggests playing the Trail Blazers on the money line tonight.

Top Line

Pittsburgh One – Evgeni Malkin, Bryan Rust, Jake Guentzel

Given that it is only a one-game slate, the options here are fairly limited. That being said, it would be hard to overlook the Pittsburgh top line in any format, particularly in cash games. They are far and away from the top line on the slate and any effort to fade the three of them is solely to try to be contrarian. The Penguins top line is the third-ranked line in the NHL over the last ten games with 8 full line goals and strong supporting stats during that span. Pittsburgh has a high 3.95 implied goal total and is a -230 home favorite as of the time of writing. Bryan Rust is still criminally underpriced on FanDuel and remains underpriced relative to his peers on DraftKings. He should be the first skater in your lineup given his recent form.

12/30 NHL DraftKings Rankings

  1. Bryan Rust – Pittsburgh Penguins – $8,800
  2. Tristan Jarry – Pittsburgh Penguins – $7,500
  3. Evgeni Malkin – Pittsburgh Penguins – $10,200
  4. Jake Guentzel – Pittsburgh Penguins – $9,400
  5. Thomas Chabot – Ottawa Senators – $8,600
  6. Kris Letang – Pittsburgh Penguins – $8,400
  7. Mark Borowiecki – Ottawa Senators – $4,800
  8. Colin White – Ottawa Senators – $2,200
  9. Brady Tkachuk – Ottawa Senators – $9,200
  10. Anthony Duclair – Ottawa Senators – $8,000

12/30 NHL FanDuel Rankings

  1. Bryan Rust – Pittsburgh Penguins – $9,500
  2. Jake Guentzel – Pittsburgh Penguins – $13,500
  3. Kris Letang – Pittsburgh Penguins – $12,500
  4. Thomas Chabot – Ottawa Senators – $10,500
  5. Evgeni Malkin – Pittsburgh Penguins – $16,000
  6. Jared McCann – Pittsburgh Penguins – $8,000
  7. Alex Galchenyuk – Pittsburgh Penguins – $7,500
  8. Brady Tkachuk – Ottawa Senators – $14,500
  9. Anthony Duclair – Ottawa Senators – $11,000
  10. Juso Riikola – Pittsburgh Penguins – $6,000

12/30 Monkey Knife Fight NHL Prop Picks – Win With These Picks Here and Get 100 Percent Bonus!

Bryan Rust/Evgeni Malkin/Brady Tkachuk – Over 2.5 Points – Provided Pittsburgh’s high implied goal total, two of the three Pens on the top line should help to put this prop bet over.

Evgeni Malkin – Over 0.5 Assists – Evgeni Malkin is the most expensive skater on the slate, but we can get around that on MKF. An assist is certainly not a tall ask with such a high total.

Top Two Lines

Cash – Tampa Bay One – Nikita Kucherov, Brayden Point, Ondrej Palat

Very few people were on Tampa Bay last night, which is good, because it was the second line which ended up doing all of the work. However, if choosing just one, it still makes the most sense to turn to the top line which has been the fourth most productive line in the NHL over the last seven games. During that span, the Tampa Bay top-line sports a 70% GF, boosted by a whopping 130 SATF and 68.1% SAT%; so they are getting a lot of opportunities and piling up shots. The Lightning is a huge -360 favorite with a high 4.42 total and should be the focus of your cash games. In the alternate, you can still turn to the second line consisting of Steven Stamkos, Alex Killorn, and Anthony Cirelli, if you wish. I would suggest exposure to both lines if possible as there is no better matchup in the NHL than hosting the Red Wings.

GPP – Boston One – Patrice Bergeron, David Pastrnak, Brad Marchand

This line has quietly kept its consistency despite what has not been Boston’s best stretch of the season. With more attention on the Tampa Bay top line due to matchup and price, the B’s top line should go a bit lower owned than one might expect on a six-game slate. Patrice Bergeron is on a streak of three consecutive games with two goals, so he is absolutely on fire. Pasta is on a five-game point streak with five assists in his last two games alone. Finally, Brad Marchand has six points in his last two games. As has been a lesson at times this season, be sure to never sleep on the Boston Bruins. For what it’s worth, I also like the over on their projected 3.32 goal total. They should be able to smash Buffalo on home ice.

David Pastrnak/Patrice Bergeron/Jack Eichel – Over 2.5 Points – Between 2/3 of the Boston top line and Jack Eichel, this should reach three points one way or the other. You can also turn to Tampa Bay game but then you’re forced to used someone like Dylan Larkin instead of Eichel.

Victor Hedman – Over 3.5 Fantasy Points – Victor Hedman has been an absolute beast lately and couldn’t ask for a better matchup.

Jacob’s Above Average Plays has two bowls games for you today including a College Football Playoff match up for the ages. To top it off, he’s giving you an NHL game that he knows will cash and that means more money for you!

Take Oklahoma+14 vs LSU (4:00 pm EST, Saturday 28 December 2019)

This is the first game in the College Football Playoff and it’s going to be a good one. To speak simply, LSU is above average in everything and so is Oklahoma. LSU has the nation’s number one offense and number twenty-two defense. They run a pro-style offense that leads to above-average scoring against opponents. Not only do they have great receivers, but they are being thrown to by this year’s Heisman Trophy winner, Joe Burrow,  and that’s why they are going to win this game, but they won’t cover. Oklahoma has the nation’s second-ranked offense and twenty-fifth ranked defense. Oklahoma quarterback, Jalen Hurts, is one of the nation’s top quarterbacks and has been for the past few years. He found a place in Oklahoma and really started to shine. Oklahoma’s offense is above average in passing, rushing, yards per play and score. They dominated opponents all year and while they won’t be dominating in this game they will be scoring. The offense is set up to be fast-paced and wants to score. Hurts has 50 touchdowns on the year (32 passing, 18 rushing) and has beat LSU three times already while quarterback at Alabama. The Sooners suffered from turnover issues this year and that’s what this game comes down to, but I think Hurts can lead his team and will keep it close. Take the Sooners plus 14.

Take Memphis vs Penn State OVER 60 (12:00 pm EST, Saturday 28 December 2019)

These teams have been two above-average offenses all year. I don’t think this will be any different. Memphis played above average this year on both sides of the ball. They were able to shut down the opposing team’s pass offense with an above-average defense allowing an average of 200.69 pass yards per game. On offense, they are even better. Memphis was above average across the board with their offensive stats. Ranking 10th in the nation in total offense, they score an above-average 40.54 points per game, while keeping opponents to just 24.38 points per game. The Tigers average almost 200 yards per game rushing (196.23) and average 284.46 yards per game through the air. They gain an above-average amount of yards per play. Memphis ranks 9th nationally in yards per play, gaining 6.9 yards per attempt. They now take on a team with a similar makeup, as Penn State is above average across the board on offense. Penn State amasses an average of 402.2 yards per game on offense. They pass for 228.7 ypg and rush for 173.5 ypg which I really like because it shows a very balanced offense. A good above-average balanced offense usually means they can score. The Nittany Lions rank 23rd in the nation in points per game, scoring an average of 34.22 points a game. Penn State has an above-average defense. I don’t want to put too much stock into that because Penn State didn’t play the toughest schedule and better teams did score on them.

Former Memphis head coach, Mike Norvell, left the program to become Florida State’s next head coach and I think, due to that, they will be fired up!. Current Memphis coaches remained. I like that Assistant Coach, Ryan Silverfield,  is now the head coach because he knows the system. He will fire up the team to show their former coach what he’s missing out on. I think both teams will move the play here and we will see a high scoring affair. Take the over.

Take Toronto -132 (in regulation, 60 Minute Line) vs NY Rangers (7:00 pm, Saturday 28 December 2019)

In this game, we have another case of two teams headed in different directions. Toronto is one of the NHL’s hottest teams, as of late, winning six out of their last six games. They are playing above average on both ends of the ice since Head Coach, Sheldon Keefe, took over. The Maple Leafs are averaging 3.54 goals per game on an average of 33.51 shots ranking them fourth overall in scoring and fifth in shots on goal. Toronto plays way above average at home and they are hard to beat there; winning four out of their last five games. They tend to slack off when up against big which allows more scoring late in games and leads to above-average game totals. I don’t want to confuse you with some of their defensive stats, we’ll just move on.

The Rangers are just below average all year. They can score goals, but they give up a ton which is why they lose. They are worse lately winning just two games in December. They haven’t fared well against the Atlantic Division this year, only winning one out of the nine games played. Winning just two out of their last seven games, the Rangers don’t play well against Toronto either.  New York is scoring 3.22 goals per game, but they are allowing 3.27 which is good for 25th in the league. I just think that Toronto is playing great hockey right now. They are returning home after a quick road trip and they just beat the Rangers on December 20th. Take Toronto to win in regulation. (To win in regulation means that the team selected by the bettor must win in the first 60 minutes. If the game goes to overtime it’s a loss)

Welcome to WinDaily’s newest NHL article, the NHL Stack and Track! In this article, the 12/28 NHL Stack and Track, we will look at the top NHL stacks at each price range and rank the best and the worst goalie spots to target in tonight’s 9-game slate.

12/28 NHL Stack Report

  1. Vancouver Canunks Two $$$
    Boeser – Pettersson – Miller (FanDuel: $21,000 | DraftKings: $18,900)
    – The Kings are bad, not the Red Wings bad but they are really bad. The Kings allow an average of 3.13 goals against per game and have one of the league’s worst penalty kills at 73.6%. Vancouver’s recently reunited top-line play together on the top power-play unit and will most likely face one of the league’s worst-performing goaltenders in Jonathan Quick. His GAA is at 3.05 and his SV% is below .900. Quick has also lost three of his last four games and his last matchup against the Canucks, Quick gave up five goals on 49 shots, four of which were given up to this line. (Three of which contributed to Boeser’s third career NHL hat-trick) The 5-goal thrashing happened in California, the Kings are in line for a thrashing against the Canucks in Vancouver. (The Canucks have a positive home record [11-5-3] and a negative away record [8-10-1])
Ideal Defensive Partner: Quinn Hughes (FD: $4,200 | DK: $4,800)
  2. Florida Panthers One $$
    Huberdeau – Barkov – Dadonov (FanDuel: $20,200 | DraftKings: $18,000)
    – With the best odds of tonights 12/28 NHL slate, Florida is set to take on the league’s worst team and the league’s worst goalie in the Red Wings (9-26-3) and Jimmy Howard (2-12-1). The Red Wings are last in the NHL in most offensive and defensive stat categories including goals, shots on goal, goals allowed and penalty kill. Florida’s powerhouse line has been reunited and with Detroit’s best player sidelined with an upper-body injury, this line will look to do some damage at home in the BB&T Center tonight. Throughout the line shuffles this line remained intact on the power play and was still able to do damage, sporting the league’s 8th best power play at 22.9%. Now this line will have extremely high ownership. However, in this matchup, you’ll have to bit the bullet in my opinion. Especially in cash games. This is my top stack of the night.
Ideal Defensive Partner: Keith Yandle (FD: $5,700 | DK: $4,900)
  3. Arizona Coyotes Two $
    Keller – Soderberg – Schmaltz (FanDuel: $15,500 | DraftKings: $15,600)
    – It is most likely that Vegas will match-up their top line with Arizona’s powerful top line allowing for Arizona’s second line to receive less attention. The presence of this line is spread across both of Arizona’s power-play units and each player sees around 16-17 minutes per game. Not to mention that Schmaltz and Keller and Arizona’s leading scorers and will be facing a Vegas team that lost 4-3 last night against the 27th-placed Ducks.
Ideal Defensive Partner: Jakob Chychurn (FD: $4,300 | DK: $4,200)

Honorable Mention(s): Tampa Bay Lightning One, Carolina Hurricanes Two

12/28 NHL Goalie Tracker

Best

  1. Chris Driedger (FD: $7,100 | DK: $8,200)
  2. Frederik Andersen (FD: $8,800 | DK: $8,300)
  3. Jacob Markstrom (FD: $7,600 | DK: $8,100)
    Honorable Mention(s): Carter Hart

Worst

  1. (1A) Jimmy Howard (FD: $7,000 | DK: $6,900)
  2. (1B) Martin Jones (FD: $7,200 | DK: $7,400)
  3. Jonathan Quick (FD: $7,600 | DK: $7,100)

12/28 NHL Wild Card of the Day

Travis Konecny (FD: $6,400 | DK: $6,100
– The rest of Konecny’s line doesn’t look intriguing to me, however, the Sharks are in a deep hole, losing their last four games including an embarrassing blown 2-goal lead last night to the lowly Kings, allowing a recent AHL call-up to score twice in the third period to force overtime. The Sharks projected starter Martin Jones has been atrocious as of late losing his last six starts (two of which he was pulled in) giving up around four goals per game in the process. Konecny, on the other hand, has been producing for the Flyers this season. He is Philadelphia’s top scorer with four more points in three fewer games than Sean Couturier who sits in second for the Flyers. Konecny has five points in his last four games and sees around 20 minutes of ice-time per game including time on Philadelphia’s top power-play unit. Konecny is a bright spot for me in this slate and I don’t mind him as a one-off play tonight.
Honorable Mention(s): MacKenzie Weegar DK, Bryan Rust FD

12/28 NHL Monkey Knife Fight NHL Prop Picks – Win With These Picks Here and Get 100 Percent Bonus!

Jonathan Huberdeau – More Fantasy Points than Hoffman (+0.5) –Hoffman has been cold with only one assist in his last five games and despite playing on Florida’s top power-play unit alongside Huberdeau, Hoffman plays on Florida’s third line during even strength, giving Huberdeau all the ice time with the high powered offense, not to mention, Huberdeau has been feeling it as of late with 11 points in his last four games (3 goals, 8 assists). Huberdeau should easily outscore Hoffman in fantasy points even with the 0.5 cushions for Hoffman.

Brock Boeser – Over 2.5 Fantasy Points  Boeser is hot right now and against a tired Kings team (who was taken into OT last night) and Jonathan Quick, Boeser should have no trouble reaching the 2.5-point threshold, especially being back on Vancouver’s high powered second line. Not to mention that he has met the 2.5 fantasy point threshold in his last three games.

Honorable Mention(s): Rapid Fire Huberdeau more Fantasy Points than Hoffman and Barkov more Fantasy Points than Dylan Larkin. 0.5-point Cushion for both.

Top Two Lines

Florida One – Aleksander Barkov, Jonathan Huberdeau, Evgeni Dadonov

The Florida Panthers will get the absolute juiciest matchup on the board, playing at home against the Detroit Red Wings. It was nice while the lines were split to be able to turn to a red hot Noel Acciari for some salary savings. If you believe the hot streak lives on, go for it. However, the primary top line is reunited and all three skaters should be able to capitalize on the line change. That seems like the best way to eat what should be Florida chalk. The three top-line skaters also share a correlation on the first power-play unit. Florida has a slate high 4.2 projected goal total and is a -290 favorite, which is extremely high for NHL standards. I would definitely turn to them in cash games and think that they make for a strong building block in tournaments as well.

Toronto One – Auston Matthews, Mitchell Marner, Zach Hyman

Last night, it was newly formed Toronto second line that had the better night and this line busted. However, this line is the more talented of the two and should be able to eat in a pace up matchup with the New York Rangers. Both teams come in on the second night of a back to back. The Leafs will be able to head home for this one, where they can dictate the matchups. It seems like the spot that the Auston Matthews and Mitchell Marner driven pairing can find a way to go off. Toronto has the second-highest implied goal total on the slate at 3.91 and are a decent -180 favorite. The Rangers are riding high after a big home upset of Carolina, but they will likely come back down to earth here.

Jimmy Howard – Over 28.5 Saves – I’d think Florida will drop at least 32-35 shots or so minimum, making this a good bet.

Auston Matthews – Over 0.5 Goals – Auston Matthews did not light the lamp last night, but lightning does not often strike twice.
