Los Angeles Lakers

As we approach the last quarter of the NBA season, every game is of importance. Many continue to battle for playoff seeding, while others look to the trade deadline to shape their future. It’s a Taco Tuesday edition of the Gems – let’s ride.

Be sure to use our proprietary NBA projections and cheat sheet to build your lineups as the news rolls in. Moreover, join the conversation in the Win Daily Discord to get the insight you need from both subscribers and staff.

Los Angeles Lakers @ New York Knicks (-1.5)

Los Angeles Lakers (+1.5)

Having rested both LeBron James and Anthony Davis last night, the expectation is that the Lakers offense will return for this contest. Despite Father Time expecting to catch up to LeBron James, one of, if not the greatest to take an NBA court shows no sign of slowing down. Over his last eight games, LeBron has posted 30 or more points in six appearances. Moreover, he has averaged 35.3/8.8/8 on 52% shooting during that span. The return of Anthony Davis certainly causes concern for James’ fantasy outlook, but if the Lakers truly want to make a run, it will be on the back of The King.

New York Knicks (-1.5)

All eyes will be on Julius Randle in a matchup versus his former team. Despite the Knicks being once again a bubble team in the weaker of the two conferences, Randle has flourished after a rocky start to the season. However, this is a prime matchup for Jalen Brunson. The offseason acquisition made waves with his departure from Dallas, but has lived up to the expectations that come with playing in The Big Apple. Over his ten games, Brunson has posted 20 or more points in eight appearances. Moreover, he has averaged 26.2/3.6/5.1 on 47% shooting during that span. With the Lakers ranked 28th in the NBA versus primary ball handlers, Brunson is primed for a big performance at home.

New Orleans Pelicans @ Denver Nuggets (-8.5)

New Orleans Pelicans (+8.5)

The Pelicans’ rotation comes into this contest rested after both CJ McCollum and Brandon Ingram sat out the second half of a back-to-back on Sunday. The two will continue handling the bulk of the offensive opportunities in the absence of Zion Williamson. In two games back since his toe injury, Brandon Ingram has been far from shy with his game. The two-way wing has averaged 17.5/5.5/4.5 which is lower than his expected output, but he has averaged 20 shots per night. Moreover, Ingram has seen his minutes increase in back-to-back games. Ingram carries a higher volatility and ceiling for tournaments, while McCollum offers a safer floor on this NBA slate.

Denver Nuggets (-8.5)

Whenever he takes the court, all eyes are on the back-to-back NBA MVP, Nikola Jokic. The face of the Nuggets franchise has been simply phenomenal again this season, averaging 25.1/10.9/9.9 on 62.9% shooting. Moreover, he leads the league in triple-doubles with 15 across 43 games. However, he limits what the rest of your lineup looks like considering he is near the top of the pricing grid. With Jamal Murray questionable to play due to injury management, value could open up with Aaron Gordon, Michael Porter Jr., and Bruce Brown. Moreover, Bones Hyland is being actively mentioned in potential trades, meaning this rotation is going to tighten up down the stretch of the season. Monitor the injury report and adjust accordingly.

Honorable Mentions:

  • Miami Heat @ Cleveland Cavaliers (-4.5)
  • Los Angeles Clippers @ Chicago Bulls (+3.5)
  • Charlotte Hornets @ Milwaukee Bucks (-10.5)

A few teams are on the second half of a back-to-back, while others’ injury reports figure to be lengthy. This NBA slate will certainly be one to monitor throughout the day.

Chicago Bulls @ Indiana Pacers (-1.5)

Chicago Bulls (+1.5)

The Bulls are on the second half of a back-to-back, meaning there is a chance players miss this game. In addition, Chicago has many players still on contracts with term, making them attractive trade deadline pieces. However, this is still one of the best game environments on the NBA slate. The trio of Lavine, Vucevic, and DeRozan will continue to dominate usage on the offensive side of the ball. Of the three, Lavine has the highest ceiling, but Vucevic has the best ceiling/floor combination. Over his last 11 games, Vucevic has record 11 straight double-doubles. Moreover, he has been dominant on the glass and has seen an increase in offensive looks. With the Pacers ranked 27th in the NBA against true centers, Vucevic will line up on Turner for a ton of minutes.

Indiana Pacers (-1.5)

Tyrese Haliburton continues to rehabilitate from a knee injury, leaving this offense with plenty of additional looks to go around. In this particular matchup against the Bulls, Buddy Hield will be the x-factor. On the season, Hield leads the NBA in three-pointers made with 181. Moreover, he has shot 42.2% from behind the arc, averaging 3.8 three-pointers per night. With the Bulls ranked 29th in the league in three-pointers allowed, Hield will be relied upon to shoulder the load.

Denver Nuggets @ New Orleans Pelicans (OTB)

Denver Nuggets (OTB)

In a rare occurrence, Nikola Jokic has missed the last two games for the Nuggets. Should he miss this one again tonight, Jamal Murray and Michael Porter Jr. will see more shot attempts. However, the latter is also in question tonight considering he missed last game due to personal reasons. Should Porter Jr. miss this game, Bruce Brown and Aaron Gordon make for intriguing options on this NBA slate, barring a Jokic absence. This is an important injury report to monitor.

New Orleans Pelicans (OTB)

The Pelicans got off to a hot start but have been falling in the absence of both Zion Williamson and Brandon Ingram. While the former is set to be re-evaluated soon, the latter is still listed as doubtful for tonight. Thus, CJ McCollum will continue leading this offense. Over the course of the season, McCollum has a 27.4% usage rate, resulting in 1.11 fantasy points per minute. However, with both Williamson and Ingram off the court, McCollum sees increases to 1.21 fantasy points per minute through a 31.8% usage rate. Denver ranks 26th in the NBA versus primary ball handlers, setting the stage for McCollum to have a stellar performance.

Los Angeles Clippers @ Los Angeles Lakers (+3.5)

Los Angeles Clippers (-3.5)

Despite missing many games for the Clippers throughout his tenure, Kawhi Leonard has been tremendous. The Klaw now has scored 24 or more points in seven straight appearances. Moreover, he has averaged 29.9/6.7/3.9 on 54.1% shooting during that span. In a game between the two Los Angeles teams, all eyes will be on Kawhi & Paul George versus LeBron James. If you are looking for serious star power on this NBA slate, there is no greater game environment than this one.

Los Angeles Lakers (+3.5)

Despite being in his 20th NBA season, LeBron James is showing no signs of slowing down. Only 223 points behind Kareem Abdul-Jabbar for the all-time scoring record, James is set to make history in the near future. This season, James has averaged 29.8/8.5/6.9 on 50.8% shooting through a 36.8% usage rate. Moreover, he has scored 30 or more points in four of his last five games, averaging 35/8.8/7.6 during that span. Committing to this game environment limits your options for the rest of your DFS lineups, but it truly has the best potential on the slate.

Honorable Mentions:

  • Cleveland Cavaliers @ New York Knicks (+3.5)
  • Charlotte Hornets @ Phoenix Suns (OTB)

Many NBA stars have been battling injuries lately. Tonight is no different, but there are plenty of elite game environments to be excited about. It’s a Wet Wednesday edition of the Gems – let’s ride.

Be sure to use our proprietary NBA projections and cheat sheet to build your lineups as the news rolls in. Moreover, join the conversation in the Win Daily Discord to get the insight you need from both subscribers and staff.

Indiana Pacers @ Oklahoma City Thunder (-4.5)

Indiana Pacers (+4.5)

Since losing Tyrese Haliburton to a knee injury, the Pacers have lost three straight. However, without their best player, comes many opportunities for others. During those three games, TJ McConnell continues to be one of the most popular players on any given NBA slate. He has averaged 18.3/6.7/9 on 63.9% shooting. There is also intrigue in Myles Turner, who figures to be a core player on this slate. In his return to the lineup a few days ago, Turner saw many more minutes and came through with 30/8/2 and four blocks, making five three-pointers along the way. With Oklahoma City ranked 27th in the league versus true centers and struggling to find a replacement in the absences of Jeremiah Robinson-Earl and Aleksej Pokusevski, Turner is set to dominate the paint on both ends of the court tonight.

Oklahoma City Thunder (-4.5)

This game has tremendous stack ability and is one of the best on the NBA slate. On the Thunder’s side of the ball, it begins with their backcourt duo of Shai Gilgeous-Alexander and Josh Giddey. Over their last six games, OKC is 5-1. During that span, SGA has averaged 29.2/5.3/4.3 on 54.3% shooting. However, Giddey has been phenomenal in his own right. Giddey has averaged 20.2/8.2/7.8 on 51.5% shooting. With the Pacers perimeter defense taking a serious hit in the absence of Haliburton, both SGA and Giddey are in a great spot.

Cleveland Cavaliers @ Memphis Grizzlies (-6.5)

Cleveland Cavaliers (+6.5)

Donovan Mitchell did not practice yesterday and has since been downgraded to doubtful tonight. Thus, the offense will fall on Darius Garland, should Mitchell in fact miss this game. While the former has taken a back seat to the newly acquired Mitchell, Garland is a polarizing talent on offense. On the season, Garland has posted 1.08 fantasy points per minute through a 27% usage rate, averaging 21.4/2.8/7.8. While both his usage rate and fantasy output is lower than Mitchell’s, Garland excels with his teammate off the floor. Garland sees an increase to 1.22 fantasy points per minute through a 30% usage rate without Mitchell. Thus, he is one of the best plays in the mid range of this pricing grid on this NBA slate.

Memphis Grizzlies (-6.5)

Memphis boasts a complete roster on both sides of the court. They have a star player in Ja Morant, a defensive force in Jaren Jackson Jr., and solid role players in Desmond Bane, Steven Adams, Dillion Brooks, and others. However, this can make things complicated in fantasy hoops. Morant will lead the charge without a doubt, but Cleveland has the #2 defense in the NBA. Thus, a matchup play in this one is Steven Adams. While he certainly will have few shot attempts, he will be needed to log heavy minutes versus Jarrett Allen and Evan Mobley. Moreover, with Jaren Jackson Jr. still battling foul trouble, Adams has tremendous potential for a double-double in this one in nearly 30+ minutes of play.

Sacramento Kings @ Los Angeles Lakers (OTB)

Sacramento Kings (OTB)

The Kings have been a pleasant surprise this season. After years of mediocrity and struggling to find their groove, they are now leading a division that has Golden State, Phoenix, and both Los Angeles teams in it. Thanks to their All-Star duo of De’Aaron Fox and Domantas Sabonis, Sacramento fans should be excited for the near future. Most notably, the latter came into town with lofty expectations after being acquired for Tyrese Haliburton. However, Sabonis has truly dominated this season. He leads the NBA in both total rebounds and rebounds per game, while averaging 18.9/12.6/7.1 on 61% shooting. The Lakers rank 29th in the league versus playmaking centers, making this a tremendous matchup for Sabonis.

Los Angeles Lakers (OTB)

There is little to like about this offense other than LeBron James. However, in doing so, NBA lineup construction becomes increasingly difficult. Thus, fear not in fading the Lakers tonight. However, both LeBron and Sabonis make for an excellent 1-2 punch in the last game of the slate. James has 24 or more points in each of his last seven games, including three 40-point outings. Moreover, he has averaged 37/9.7/8.6 during that span through a whopping 36.4% usage rate.

Honorable Mentions:

  • Atlanta Hawks @ Dallas Mavericks (OTB)
  • Miami Heat @ New Orleans Pelicans (+1.5)
  • Charlotte Hornets @ Houston Rockets (+2.5)

Although there are several stars missing in action tonight, there are still many elite matchups. Moreover, this NBA slate has potential to have several high scoring affairs. It’s a Mojito Monday edition of the Gems – let’s ride.

Be sure to use our proprietary NBA projections and cheat sheet to build your lineups as the news rolls in. Moreover, join the conversation in the Win Daily Discord to get the insight you need from both subscribers and staff.

New Orleans Pelicans @ Washington Wizards (-1.5)

New Orleans Pelicans (+1.5)

With key contributors out of each of these teams’ respective lineups, usage will be plentiful for others. Zion Williamson and Brandon Ingram remain out for the Pelicans, who are surprisingly underdogs to the Wizards in this one. Once again, CJ McCollum figures to be one of the most popular players on this NBA slate. On the season, the point guard sports a 26.3% usage rate and 1.10 fantasy points per minute. However, with both Williamson and Ingram off the court, McCollum sees increases to a usage rate of 31.6% and produces 1.24 fantasy points per minute. Moreover, in his last two games, McCollum has averaged 28/3.5/6 on 44.4% shooting.

Washington Wizards (-1.5)

While Bradley Beal remains out for the Wizards, both Kristaps Porzingis and Kyle Kuzma will shoulder the load on offense. However, there is another Washington player that continues to fly under the radar. Lately, Daniel Gafford has been playing excellent basketball. While he has always been a productive player on a per-minute basis, he has finally gotten enough time on the court to flourish. Startling alongside Porzingis has allowed Gafford to draw easier matchups on both ends of the court. Thus, he has been much more productive. Over his last five games, Gafford has logged 25 or more minutes in every contest. Moreover, he has averaged 13.6/8.2/1.8 on 75% shooting, despite the low usage rate and field goal attempts. New Orleans currently ranks 22nd in the NBA against centers, while allowing nearly 50 points in the paint per game.

Los Angeles Lakers @ Denver Nuggets (-8.5)

Los Angeles Lakers (+8.5)

Make no mistake about it, this organization runs through LeBron James. However, with the absences of both Lonnie Walker IV and Austin Reeves, both Russell Westbrook and Dennis Schroder have been tremendous in their respective roles. With the former continues to come off the bench, he is the favorite for Sixth Man of the Year. Over his last two games, Westbrook has averaged 20.5/8/12 through a 25.6% usage rate while logging over 32 minutes per night. Moreover, Schroder has been efficient in the starting lineup. While logging over 32 minutes per contest in each of his last five appearances, Schroder has averaged 21.4/2.6/3.8 on 50.8% shooting. Both Schroder and Westbrook have upside against a Denver defense that ranks 20th in the NBA versus secondary ball handlers.

Denver Nuggets (-8.5)

If there is a stud at the top of the pricing grid on this NBA slate that can lead it in scoring, it’s Nikola Jokic. Not only has the back-to-back MVP led his squad to the #1 seed in the Western Conference thus far, but he has been just as dominant as past years. Over his last ten games, Jokic has posted five triple-doubles. Moreover, he has averaged 25.6/10.4/10.8 on 59.4% shooting during that span. Without Anthony Davis guarding the paint, the Lakers interior defense has crumbled. They now sit 28th in the NBA versus true centers, while being ranked 24th in points allowed in the paint per game.

Orlando Magic @ Sacramento Kings (-5.5)

Orlando Magic (+5.5)

The Magic are still a rebuilding team but they can put up a fight with a healthy roster. Despite missing Bol Bol tonight, they have Jalen Suggs back and their suspended players have all returned. Paolo Banchero continues to lead the Rookie of the Year race, but his point/dollar upside is limited. Thus, this slate is more suited for Franz Wagner. Currently, Sacramento ranks last in the NBA against wings. Moreover, Wagner comes into this one having scored 20 or more points in three straight contests. During that span, Wagner has averaged 24.7/2.7/4.3 on 54.9% shooting, while leading the team in minutes per game.

Sacramento Kings (-5.5)

There are many ways to get exposure to one of the most enticing offenses of the NBA slate. At the top of the pricing grid, both Domantas Sabonis and De’Aaron Fox continue to perform at an All-Star level no matter what their individual matchups are. Moreover, Kevin Huerter has scored in double digits in five straight contests. Meanwhile, with Paolo Banchero switching onto Domantas Sabonis tonight, Keegan Murray has a friendly matchup versus Wendell Carter Jr., who sports a 114.3 defensive rating on the season. Of the four listed targets, Sabonis and Fox are in their own category. However, Huerter and Murray both have upside in an elite game environment, despite being reliant on their scoring output.

Honorable Mentions:

  • Milwaukee Bucks @ New York Knicks (+2.5)
  • Chicago Bulls @ Boston Celtics (-8.5)
  • San Antonio Spurs @ Memphis Grizzlies (-11.5)

In the second NBA slate of the calendar year, there is plenty of news to follow. Teams are missing key contributors, while others are looking to make moves in the standings as soon as possible.

Los Angeles Lakers @ Charlotte Hornets (+1.5)

Los Angeles Lakers (-1.5)

With Luka Doncic being the presumed favorite at the top of the pricing grid, a notable duo in this game will be overlooked. With the Lakers still awaiting an evaluation on Anthony Davis to resume basketball activities, LeBron James will need to singlehandedly carry this team to a playoff bid. There are no statistics needed for what James brings to an NBA court over a 20-season career. In an elite game environment with both teams ranking in the top 8 in pace and Charlotte being 26th in defensive rating, LeBron has the potential to lead the slate in scoring.

Charlotte Hornets (+1.5)

If you are committing to this game as a whole, then LaMelo Ball is the stud you want to counter LeBron James. Since returning to the lineup, Ball has been the lone reason for their offense. Playing in ten straight games to close out the calendar year, Ball led the team with a 29.6% usage rate. Moreover, he led the team in scoring, assists, and three-pointers made. During that span, Ball averaged 25/6.6/8.2 on 42.6% shooting, including making 4.5 three-pointers per night. With the Lakers being 2nd in the NBA in pace and 29th against primary ball handlers, this game can easily be the highest scoring of the slate, with Ball being the primary benefactor in a favorable matchup.

Chicago Bulls @ Cleveland Cavaliers (-3.5)

Chicago Bulls (+3.5)

With their opponent ranked 29th in pace and 1st in defensive rating, there is little to like about the Bulls offense tonight. However, on such a large NBA slate, this offense will be completely forgotten. The Cavaliers rank 6th in the league against true centers, led by the tandem of Allen and Mobley on the inside. However, whether Mobley plays tonight or not, the Bulls will need big minutes from Nikola Vucevic against a combination of Allen, Love, and potentially Mobley. Despite the tough matchup, Vucevic ended the year on a solid run. In his last three games, Vucevic posted two double-doubles and averaged 15/12.3/2.7 on 46.3% shooting, including four three-pointers attempted per night.

Cleveland Cavaliers (-3.5)

The Cavaliers are one of the most intriguing rotations on this NBA slate. While the game environment is far from elite, the thin rotation is enticing. Darius Garland is currently doubtful to play with a thumb injury, while Evan Mobley missed the team’s last game due to an ankle injury. Should Mobley and Garland both miss this one, there will be ample opportunity for Donovan Mitchell, Jarrett Allen, Caris LeVert, Kevin Love, and Cedi Osman. To the benefit of both LeVert and Love, the Bulls rank 28th in three-pointers allowed. Moreover, they rank last in the NBA against stretch-fours, ranking last in three-pointers allowed to the player type. Over their last two games, Love and LeVert have combined for 15 three-point attempts per contest.

Dallas Mavericks @ Houston Rockets (+7.5)

Dallas Mavericks (-7.5)

There is no player in the NBA that finished the year on a stronger run than Luka Doncic. In his last five games, Doncic averaged a 45.6/11.2/10.2 triple-double on 59.8% shooting. Moreover, Doncic scored 30 or more points in each one of those appearances, including three games with 50 or more points and two triple-doubles. Additionally, he had one of the best games in the history of the league, posting a 60/21/10 scoring line against the Knicks. The Rockets also rank last versus primary ball handlers while being 28th in defensive rating. In two games versus Houston this season, Doncic has averaged 42.5/10/11.5 on 54.9% shooting.

Houston Rockets (+7.5)

Exposure to the Rockets offense is dependent on the availability of Alperen Sengun. The sophomore center is listed as questionable after missing their last game of the calendar year with a back injury. Should he be available, Sengun gets a favorable matchup against the revolving door that is the Dallas frontcourt. Where Sengun will flourish in this matchup is with his playmaking. Since Dallas needs to shift their defense to collapse the defensive paint since they lack interior defense in a one-on-one situation, this leaves the perimeter open for kick-out three-point attempts. Alongside Jokic and Sabonis, Sengun is already a top 3 passer in the NBA at the center position. This greatly benefits this offense in the form of Kevin Porter Jr. and Jalen Green.

Honorable Mentions:

  • New Orleans Pelicans @ Philadelphia 76ers (-5.5)
  • Atlanta Hawks @ Golden State Warriors (OTB)

Injuries and shortened rotations have been the theme of the week in the NBA. As was pointed out in both articles this week, this will continue to be the trend throughout the holiday period. Yesterday was utter chaos and there was only five games on the schedule. Tonight, with many more set to tipoff, it will be more of the same.

Golden State Warriors @ Brooklyn Nets (OTB)

Golden State Warriors (OTB)

With the Warriors on the second half of a back-to-back, this rotation will be one of, if not the most popular on tonight’s NBA slate. Assuming the injury reported is finalized as expected, Klay Thompson and Draymond Green are strong candidates to receive the night off. Already without Steph Curry and Andrew Wiggins, the Warriors would be without four of five regular starters. Jordan Poole instantly becomes a premier option, while there will be ton of viable value options as well.

Brooklyn Nets (OTB)

Exposure to the Nets offense all depends on the Warriors’ injury report. Should both Thompson and Green miss this game, in addition to both Curry and Wiggins being sidelined, this one could get out of hand rather quickly. However, blowouts are never predictable and this is an elite game environment on a large NBA slate. Both Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving have been phenomenal since the latter returned to the lineup in late November. During those 14 games, the Nets are 11-3. Moreover, the two have combined for a ridiculous 57 points per game during that span, representing 49.7% of the team’s scoring.

Los Angeles Lakers @ Sacramento Kings (-6.5)

Los Angeles Lakers (+6.5)

Assuming LeBron James makes his return to the lineup tonight, this is the best game on the NBA slate. James sat out the tail end of the Lakers’ back-to-back after playing 35 minutes per game in the previous five, so it was likely precautionary, considering Anthony Davis will be sidelined for the next month. Having scored 30 or more points in his last four appearances, James has been carrying the Lakers once again in his 20th season. Moreover, he has averaged 32.8/7.5/6.8 on 57.4% shooting during that span. With Davis off the court this year, LeBron sees an increase in both usage rate and fantasy points per minute. The former goes from 31.6% to 33.9%, while the latter goes from 1.40 to 1.52. He is far and away one of the best targets at the top of the pricing grid.

Sacramento Kings (-6.5)

For those that have been here for multiple NBA seasons, you know where the Domantas Sabonis fanbase began. Tonight, to the surprise of no one, Sabonis is again a favorite amongst a loaded player pool. Over his last eight games, Sabonis has scored 20 or more points in six appearances. Moreover, he has averaged 20.8/15.6/6.6 on 68.9% shooting during that span. With the Lakers missing their best interior defender in Anthony Davis, the paint will be Sabonis’ to own on both ends of the court. The Lakers currently rank 27th in the league against true centers, while ranking 24th in points allowed in the paint. Moreover, both of these teams are top 5 in pace, making this the best game environment on the NBA slate.

Honorable Mentions:

  • Portland Trail Blazers @ Oklahoma City Thunder (+4.5)
  • Orlando Magic @ Houston Rockets (+2.5)
  • Charlotte Hornets @ Los Angeles Clippers (OTB)

Only ten NBA teams take the court tonight but there is plenty of intrigue. Some of the league’s best will face off against one another, while a few short rotations may steal the show.

Phoenix Suns @ Houston Rockets (+5.5)

Phoenix Suns (-5.5)

Devin Booker is set to miss a second straight game with a hamstring injury. Thus, both Chris Paul and Deandre Ayton will be priorities on this NBA slate. Both have massive point/dollar upside in their respective matchups. With Booker off the floor, Paul will get to run the pick-and-roll even more than usual. Thus, Ayton is a primary benefactor on the inside. Moreover, the Houston Rockets are last against primary ball handlers. Additionally, they rank last in pick-and-roll defense with a league-worst 52.3% effective field goal percentage allowed. No individual statistics needed for this duo; it’s a dream matchup.

Houston Rockets (+5.5)

If you are getting exposure to the Rockets on this NBA slate, duplicate your lineup and make one with Kevin Porter Jr. and another with Jalen Green. However, if choosing between the two, I prefer the latter. On the season, Green leads the Rockets with a 28% usage rate and has averaged 21.6/4/3.8 on 41.8% shooting. Moreover, he has taken 17 or more attempts from the field in his last five games. The efficiency can always be a cause for concern, but there is no doubting his volume tonight.

New Orleans Pelicans @ Utah Jazz (+1.5)

New Orleans Pelicans (-1.5)

The Pelicans are still missing Brandon Ingram but this team is on an absolute tear right now. Not only are the one of the hottest teams in the NBA, but Zion Williamson has been turning heads. Over his last six games, Williamson has scored 25 or more points in each one. Moreover, he has averaged 31.2/9.3/4.8 on 68% shooting during that span through a 29.8% usage rate. With the Pelicans rolling smaller lineups and using Zion at the ‘5’, he’ll get the bulk of minutes in a favorable matchup. Utah currently ranks 28th in the league against centers and last in points allowed in the paint per game.

Utah Jazz (+1.5)

The return of Lauri Markkanen to the lineup removes the upside from multiple Jazz. Throughout their last three games, the Jazz have been without multiple players. Tonight, Collin Sexton remains out, but the bulk of this roster is healthy. Thus, it will be interesting to see what the Jazz do with Nickeil Alexander-Walker. Over his last three appearances, NAW has seen a massive jump in minutes and offensive opportunity. Logging over 31 minutes per contest in that span, NAW has averaged 16.3/4.7/3.3 on 58.6% shooting, including 55.6% from deep on six attempts per night. Presumably, he should get the start with both Mike Conley and Malik Beasley coming off the bench, but look for updates in Discord. There is a lot to love about this offense in a competitive game environment on tonight’s NBA slate.

Honorable Mentions:

  • Sacramento Kings @ Philadelphia 76ers (-5.5)
  • Golden State Warriors @ Milwaukee Bucks (-4.5)
  • Boston Celtics @ Los Angeles Lakers (+3.5)

There are only six NBA teams in action tonight but there is no shortage of intriguing headlines. The King makes his return to Cleveland, while both Miami and Dallas are on the second half of a back-to-back. It’s a Taco Tuesday edition of the Gems – let’s ride.

Only three games are on the schedule tonight. Therefore, a single injury or lineup change can alter the slate and popularity of players. Thus, be sure to use our proprietary NBA projections and cheat sheet to build your lineups as the news rolls in. Moreover, join the conversation in the Win Daily Discord to get the insight you need from both subscribers and staff.

Detroit Pistons @ Miami Heat (OTB)

Detroit Pistons (OTB)

Barring any added injuries throughout the day, there is little intrigue in the Pistons offense tonight. Jaden Ivey has the highest upside of the bunch, but I prefer another guard in the last game of the NBA slate at a similar price point. Elsewhere, Bojan Bogdanovic can certainly shoot well from deep in this one with the Heat ranked 27th in the league in three-pointers allowed per game. Additionally, the duo of Marvin Bagley and Isaiah Stewart see a bump in the frontcourt should Bam Adebayo be ruled out, but only in that specific scenario.

Miami Heat (OTB)

We are going to need some value to roster some of the studs discussed below and this is the game to get it. Now, at the time of writing, I am fully anticipating Jimmy Butler sitting out on the second half of a back-to-back. With Detroit being without Cade Cunningham for the foreseeable future, the Pistons are set to be contending for the top of the lottery. Thus, there is no reason for Miami to push Butler, who is dealing with a knee injury. Moreover, Tyler Herro is dealing with an ankle injury, and Max Strus is nursing a shoulder issue. There is no confirmation on who the Heat will sit out, but I’m banking on the fact that is is a lengthly injury report to provide immense value on this NBA slate.

Los Angeles Lakers @ Cleveland Cavaliers (-4.5)

Los Angeles Lakers (+4.5)

Look out for the rejuvenated Lakers! Is this team still a championship contender? One can argue no, but you can certainly argue in favor of LeBron James and Anthony Davis being one of, if not the strongest duo in the NBA right now. Over his last nine games, Davis has been on an absolute tear. The All-NBA talent has posted double-doubles in every one of those appearances with 25 points or more in every one. Moreover, he has averaged 35.3/15.6/2.7/1.2/2.9 on 64.8% shooting during that span. Additionally, Davis currently leads the league in rebounds per game and is second in blocks. A tough matchup looms against Evan Mobley and a potential return for Jarrett Allen to the lineup, but Davis has entered the conversation for being unfadeable right now.

Cleveland Cavaliers (-4.5)

If you’re looking for a potentially overlooked player that can contend with the slate’s best, it’s Donovan Mitchell. The back and forth between he and Darius Garland on offense can cause headaches on offense, but one of the two is set to dominate here. Mitchell currently leads the team in usage rate at 31.3% with Garland right behind him at 28.3%. Moreover, the same trend lies true in the Cavs’ last five and ten games. Mitchell has a higher upside due to his shotmaking and minutes splits. With the Lakers ranked 28th in the NBA against primary ball handlers, both Mitchell and Garland are firmly in play, but I prefer the former.

Dallas Mavericks @ Denver Nuggets (-4.5)

Dallas Mavericks (+4.5)

There should be no doubt that Luka Doncic can lead any NBA slate in scoring. Not only that, but he is one of few players in the league who can produce at a level that alters fantasy sports in indescribable ways. However, as good as he is, playing Doncic on DraftKings tonight forces you into an ugly lineups structure. On FanDuel, it is much more doable. Thus, I’ll have exposure to him on the latter rather than the former. It’s a bold stance to take, but you have to plant your flag on small slates. No exposure to this offense on DraftKings, with Doncic firmly in play on FanDuel.

Denver Nuggets (-4.5)

Similarly to Luka Doncic, there is another international star that can shift an NBA slate like only a few in the league could. Nikola Jokic certainly has a sizeable advantage over Dwight Powell and Christian Wood on the inside, but the Mavericks actually rank first in the league against true centers. They collapse the paint well, but this leaves the perimeter open. Thus, Jamal Murray is a great way to get exposure to Denver if you’re not playing Jokic. Over his last five games, Murray has averaged 23.2/3.8/5.6 on 50% shooting. Moreover, he has the second highest usage rate on the team at 29.1% over that span.

There is a strong possibility that many stars will be missing on this NBA slate. Injury reports are already riddled with questionable tags and there are surely more to come. However, there are a few games that stand out above the rest amongst the uncertainty. It’s a Mojito Monday edition of the Gems – let’s ride.

While some players have already been ruled out, the availability of many more is up in the air. Thus, be sure to use our proprietary NBA projections and cheat sheet to build your lineups as the news rolls in. OKC Thunder @ New Orleans Pelicans (-4.5)

OKC Thunder (+4.5)

Assuming Brandon Ingram (toe) misses this game, the Pelicans backcourt is extremely overmatched tonight. The duo of Shai Gilgeous-Alexander and Josh Giddey have been leading one of the most entertaining offenses the NBA has to offer. Over their last four games, the Thunder are only 1-3, but they have averaged 118.25 points per game. During the same span, SGA and Giddey have usage rates of 33.1% and 24.4%, respectively, which are the top two on the team. Moreover, SGA continues to lead the team in scoring with a 30.8/5.8/7 scoring line over his last four, while Giddey has averaged 14.5/7.8/6. SGA has a higher ceiling in terms of raw points, but Giddey has one of his own given his rebounding and assist upside.

New Orleans Pelicans (-4.5)

CJ McCollum remains out for this game and it looks like Brandon Ingram (toe) will be joining him. Currently listed as doubtful, the Pelicans backcourt will be a popular spot for value on this NBA slate. The duo of Jose Alvarado and Devonte’ Graham will both see a notable uptick in minutes should Ingram miss this game. In their last three games, both Alvarado and Graham has been efficient with their time on the court. The duo sport usage rates of 15.9% and 21.1%, respectively, while combining for 22.3 points per game. Zion Williamson instantly becomes the primary option on offense should Ingram be ruled out, but this rotation will be highlighted by the value it brings to the table.

Chicago Bulls @ Utah Jazz (-3.5)

Chicago Bulls (+3.5)

The Bulls take on a reeling Jazz squad and are all affordable. Moreover, the Jazz are ranked 24th in the NBA in defensive efficiency, making this game environment one of the best on the slate. There are four players of interest here: DeMar DeRozan, Zach Lavine, Nikola Vucevic, and Patrick Williams. While the duo of DeRozan and Lavine have the higher ceiling of the trio, Vucevic has the best matchup. The Bulls center has four double-doubles in his last five games where he has sported an 18.4% usage rate. Moreover, he has posted a 14.2/11.4/4 scoring line on 49.2% shooting. The Jazz rank 29th in the league against true centers, giving him the ceiling he needs at an affordable price tag. Lastly, Patrick Williams makes for an intriguing value play. He has now logged 26 or more minutes in four straight games, scoring in double digits in all four.

Utah Jazz (-3.5)

Exposure to the Jazz will depend on the status of Lauri Markkanen. Currently battling a knee injury, Markkanen collided with Deandre Ayton the other night and it did not look good. However, there has been no confirmation just yet, so be sure to monitor this injury report closely. Utah has drastically condensed their rotation and it makes for an interesting scenario for fantasy purposes. In a matchup against the Bulls, Collin Sexton, Jordan Clarkson, Malik Beasley, and Kelly Olynyk will log heavy minutes in a fast-paced environment. The Bulls are weakest on the wing, meaning Beasley will be intriguing off the bench, but look for updates in Discord once we get confirmation on Markkanen.

Indiana Pacers @ Los Angeles Lakers (-4.5)

Indiana Pacers (+4.5)

At the top of the pricing grid, Tyrese Haliburton is an intriguing play for tournaments. Not only does he currently lead the NBA in assists per game with 11.1, but the second ranked player, Trae Young, averages 9.1. There is a sizeable improvement in Haliburton’s playmaking and a matchup against a Lakers defense that ranks 28th versus primary ball handlers is hard to pass on. However, both Myles Turner and Buddy Hield are intriguing options as well. The two have been at the center of trade rumors with their opponent and certainly have something to prove. Turner will have no minutes concern given the need to have him match Anthony Davis in the paint, while Hield gets a friendly matchup versus a Lakers defense that ranks 27th against wings.

Los Angeles Lakers (-4.5)

Exposure to the Lakers depends on the status of Anthony Davis. While LeBron James is also listed as questionable, there is little doubt that he will play. However, a calf injury forced Davis to miss the second half of a back-to-back against the Spurs. Nonetheless, there are elite options are both ends of the pricing grid here. Obviously, at the top, both James and Davis are strong options. Moreover, Dennis Schroder has now logged 20 or more minutes in four straight games. While he is clearly the third, if not fourth option on offense, he has been efficient on offense with limited opportunity while posting just under one DraftKings point per minute. Not only do the Lakers lead the NBA in pace, but their opponent is ranked sixth.

Only eight teams take the court tonight but there is plenty of intrigue. Not only have multiple stars been ruled out, but NBA teams are dealing with a plethora of injuries. It’s a Taco Tuesday edition of the Gems – let’s ride.

There has already been plenty to notice on injury reports. Moreover, key players may be unavailable in addition to those already ruled out. Thus, be sure to use our proprietary NBA projections and cheat sheet to build your lineups as the news rolls in. Moreover, join the conversation in the Win Daily Discord to get the insight you need from both subscribers and staff.

Brooklyn Nets @ Philadelphia 76ers

Brooklyn Nets

With how shorthanded the 76ers are tonight, I will not be playing Kevin Durant nor Kyrie Irving. Rather, it is the return of Ben Simmons to Philadelphia that peaks my interest. Now, this can go one of two ways. Either he makes a statement or flops. At the time of writing, I’m leaning toward the former. In his last two games, Simmons has a modest usage rate of 18.3% but has been efficient at the center position. Averaging 18.5/10.5/6 on 89.5% shooting, his field goal attempts have been low, but are right near the basket. In the absence of Joel Embiid, it is Ben Simmons that has the most to prove tonight in a phenomenal individual matchup.

Philadelphia 76ers

The 76ers rotation will be the most popular on the NBA slate. Not only does James Harden remain out with a foot injury, but Joel Embiid and Tyrese Maxey have also been ruled out. Thus, the offense will belong to Tobias Harris, De’Anthony Melton, and Shake Milton. Moreover, PJ Tucker and Georges Niang are looking at heavy minutes in the frontcourt. Although he figures to be one of, if not the most rostered player on the slate, it will be hard to avoid Shake Milton tonight. Over his last two games, Milton has a 25.5% usage rate. Moreover, he has posted a 21/4.5/4 scoring line on 59.3% shooting, including 44.4% from deep.

Sacramento Kings @ Memphis Grizzlies

Sacramento Kings

November has been awfully kind to the Sacramento Kings. Not only are they currently 9-6 and holding down the 5th seed in the Western Conference, but they have been one of the best teams in the NBA lately. This month, the Kings are first in offensive rating and points per game, second in net rating and assists per game, and have the third best record in the league. Recently, De’Aaron Fox has been named Player of the Week and the Kings are now riding a six-game winning streak. Over that span, Fox has a team-leading 26.9% usage rate, resulting in a 24/4/8.7 scoring line on 57.7% shooting. With the Grizzlies ranked 22nd in defensive efficiency and struggling to contain primary ball handlers, Fox has a legitimate shot at leading the slate in scoring.

Memphis Grizzlies

With Ja Morant listed as doubtful tonight, both he and Desmond Bane figure to be on the sidelines. Thus, the offense will fall to Tyus Jones, John Konchar, Dillon Brooks, and Jaren Jackson Jr. However, due to recency bias in their latest game, the latter figures to be overlooked. In a mere two appearances this season after returning from a severe foot injury, Jackson Jr. has been efficient. Both of his games played came with Desmond Bane out of the lineup, but Ja Morant was playing. The reason I mention this is because, with Morant leading the team in usage rate in those games, Jackson Jr. is in line to do so tonight. In only 25 minutes per game, JJJ has posted a 16/9 scoring line on 33.33% shooting. Against a Sacramento defense that ranks 27th in the NBA in defensive efficiency, the Grizzlies are in a great spot tonight.

Detroit Pistons @ Denver Nuggets

Detroit Pistons

Another team dealing with multiple injuries is the rebuilding Pistons. Cade Cunningham remains out with a leg injury, while both Isaiah Stewart (toe) and Saddiq Bey (ankle) have also been ruled out for tonight. The duo of Jaden Ivey and Bojan Bogdanovic will lead the offense in the starting lineup, while Jalen Duren and Alec Burks will lead the bench unit. The former duo figures to be much more popular, but do not overlook the latter. In back-to-back games, both Duren and Burks have eclipsed 20 minutes. As a result, the have combined for 31.5 points per game. Moreover, despite not starting, Burks leads the team in usage rate over the last two games, while Duren leads the team in rebounds. On a small NBA slate, this game screams value.

Denver Nuggets

If you have played any NBA slate as of late, you already know the drill. The Nuggets have listed both Nikola Jokic and Jamal Murray as doubtful tonight, meaning the team is not expecting either star to make a return to the lineup. Additionally, Jeff Green has been ruled out, while Aaron Gordon is at jeopardy of missing a fourth consecutive game. Thus, the Nuggets rotation will be on interest, should any combination of these players miss tonight’s game. No need to overthink this one: Bones Hyland, Bruce Brown, Kentavious Caldwell-Pope, DeAndre Jordan, and Michael Porter Jr. should be in your player pool.
