As we get deeper into the NHL season, let’s get ready for a five-game Sunday slate. There is everything you need and more below. Aside from reading the article, don’t forget to check out our NHL DFS Projection Model which is available every morning.

12/11 NHL Main Slate of Games – Beginning 6 p.m. ET

*All odds and player pricing below have been obtained from DraftKings and are accurate as of the time of writing*

Los Angeles Kings (-135) at Columbus Blue Jackets (+115)6.5 Projected Goal Total

Seattle Kraken (+135) at Florida Panthers (-155)6.5 Projected Goal Total

Philadelphia Flyers (-105) at Arizona Coyotes (-115)5.5 Projected Goal Total

Washington Capitals (+115) at Winnipeg Jets (-135)6 Projected Goal Total

Boston Bruins (-135) at Vegas Golden Knights (+115)6 Projected Goal Total

Florida One “Carter Verhaeghe ($6,100), Aleksander Barkov ($7,400), Matthew Tkachuk ($8,000)

Rather than go with the peripheral stats here, my lean is based more on the matchup. One of only two 6.5 total games on this slate, my lean is towards the over on Seattle/Florida. This line has slowed their roll a lot recently after a hot start to the season. However, this is the sort of spot in which they can break out. Seattle has been one of the better defensive teams in the NHL but will be playing much earlier than usual with the day game cross country. Furthermore, they come in on a three-game skid as the lid might be starting to come off the top a bit. Both Tkachuk and Barkov share time on the Panthers’ top power-play unit and are the priorities.

Aside from Florida One, I am also a fan of the Blue Jacket’s top line in case you want to run a game stack with the line listed below. However, I would probably prioritize Patrik Laine in that scenario and run a two-man without Boone Jenner. You can even play Laine as a one-off though if you prefer.

12/11 NHL Favorite Contrarian Line

Los Angeles One “Anze Kopitar ($5,600), Kevin Fiala ($6,300), Arthur Kaliyev ($4,200)”

Since Los Angeles is the favorite in the other 6.5 total game and the peripheral stats are strong, let’s try L.A. one more time. Anze Kopitar and Kevin Fiala share a correlation on the King’s top power-play unit. However, Arthur Kaliyev, well he’s cheap. Given the price of the line listed up top, any salary savings available do come in handy. Columbus has allowed an Eastern Conference-high 106 goals on the season. As the higher total indicates, this should be one of the better-scoring affairs of the night.

Defensemen and Goalie

Defensemen

Alexander Edler – Los Angeles $2,600 – A shell of his former self. However, just $100 over the minimum price and always capable of hitting the blocked shot bonus. I’d take his 5.2 average at that price as long as my salaried skaters come through.

Goalies

Conor Hellebuyck – Winnipeg – $8,100 – I mean he’s the starting goaltender for the Hot Shot when available. Of the two “Jets” teams playing this Sunday, Winnipeg is the only favored, at -130 hosting Washington. The last time we trotted him out he had another comfortable win “one of six straight”. He continues to improve on his 2.24 GAA and .932 save %. It’s the reason why I got the “Helle” tattoo on my neck after the last game.

12/11 NHL Best Bet

Los Angeles/Columbus O 6.5 (-110) – DraftKings – 1 Unit – Two atrocious defensive teams with strong peripherals at least, as far as the Kings go. Some talent for Columbus, I guess you could call them underachievers. Either way, this seems made for the Over in a season where scoring per game just continues to increase.

Welcome back to the Hot Shot! It’s not the jampacked NHL Thursday night that we’ve become accustomed to. However, perhaps that is a good thing as we can focus on a couple of spots. Some ideas range from the Kings of NHL goal-scoring to lines from the team itself, the Kings. Aside from reading the article, don’t forget to check out our NHL DFS Projection Model which is available every morning.

12/8 NHL Main Slate of Games – Beginning 7 p.m. ET

*All odds and player pricing below have been obtained from DraftKings and are accurate as of the time of writing*

Nashville Predators (+175) at Tampa Bay Lightning (-205)6 Projected Goal Total

Los Angeles Kings (+145) at Toronto Maple Leafs (-170)6 Projected Goal Total

Detroit Red Wings (+165) at Florida Panthers (-195)6.5 Projected Goal Total

Winnipeg Jets (-125) at St. Louis Blues (+110)6 Projected Goal Total

Ottawa Senators (+165) at Dallas Stars (-195)6.5 Projected Goal Total

Dallas One “Roope Hintz ($6,500), Jason Robertson ($8,800), Joe Pavelski ($6,200)

I’ve tried to fade them before “to my regret” but tonight how I could say no? The Stars are heavy -195 money line favorites in a 6.5 total matchup. They have slowed their roll lately aside from a big Sunday. However, they still lead all NHL lines in goals scored for the season with a very strong 282 SATF. Simply put they make sense on this slate and we can hope with the game starting a bit later than others just maybe ownership won’t be at the levels it should be.

12/8 NHL Favorite Contrarian Line

Los Angeles One “Anze Kopitar ($5,600), Kevin Fiala ($6,300), Arthur Kaliyev ($3,900)”

I could always suggest L.A. two as their peripheral numbers seem to outweigh their real-life stats. However, perhaps that is a permanent thing for them. Despite not sticking out in terms of peripheral stats, I’ll side with the game-log-strong L.A. top line. The Kings are +145 road dogs but that doesn’t mean they can’t score a few and the idea here is a line we have at really low ownership. Unlike the second line, we also get two top power-play unit skaters as opposed to one.

Defensemen and Goalie

Defensemen

Rasmus Sandin – Toronto $3,200 – Seeing extra ice time and has a spot on the Leaf’s top power-play unit due to injuries. He scored a goal last time, overall solid play for the price, and a cash game staple.

Goalies

Conor Hellebuyck – Winnipeg – $7,500 – A mainstay on the top goalie list, Helle really lets either us or the Jets down. His 2.26 GAA and .932 sv% are sparkling. Our man comes into tonight off the back of 39 save win against the Panthers. His reward for his success? A price drop to $7,500 although we’re not complaining.

12/8 NHL Best Bet

Ottawa Senators (+165) – DraftKings – 0.5 Units – The Senators’ -6 goal differential suggests they are not quite as bad as their record indicates. Dallas comes in on a two-game slide and if they do go off, well we know which line will probably produce the goals. I think there is some value in the Sens price.

Let’s get ready to kick off the week with a little NHL. Jon Love will be on the IL for a couple of days so I will be filling in for him for tonight’s slate. It’s time to get down to business. Aside from reading the article, don’t forget to check out our NHL DFS Projection Model which is available every morning.

12/5 NHL Main Slate of Games – Beginning 7 p.m. ET

*All odds and player pricing below have been obtained from DraftKings and are accurate as of the time of writing*

Vegas Golden Knights (+150) at Boston Bruins (-175)6 Projected Goal Total

St. Louis Blues (+145) at New York Rangers (-170)6 Projected Goal Total

Colorado Avalanche (-215) at Philadelphia Flyers (+185)6 Projected Goal Total

Washington Capitals (+130) at Edmonton Oilers (-150)6.5 Projected Goal Total

Arizona Coyotes (+275) at Calgary Flames (-330)6 Projected Goal Total

Montreal Canadiens (+165) at Vancouver Canucks (-195)6.5 Projected Goal Total

Colorado One “Nathan MacKinnon ($9,200), Mikko Rantanen ($8,100), “DTD watch lineups Arturi Lehkonen ($6,700)

The Oilers are -150 home favorites against the Capitals with a 6.5 total and will steal some ownership. However, I think we pound the table again with Colorado’s top line. The Avalanche are -215 favorites in Philly and over their last ten games lead the NHL in SATF. Despite all of this, they only have nine goals to show for their efforts across that span.

Nathan MacKinnon exploded last Thursday night and I think we might see something similar here as more positive regression shines through. Philly is 1-6-3 over their last ten games and things are not shaping up to be better for them here. We will have to keep an eye on Arturi Lehkonen who left Saturday’s game a bit early. However, if he is out and another skater is swapped in the top line it may help us out with some much-needed salary savings.

12/5 NHL Favorite Contrarian Line

Vancouver Two “Elias Pettersson ($7,100), Andrei Kuzmenko ($5,500), Ilya Mikheyev ($3,300)”

If I were to do the reverse of the philosophy above, target actual production and not look for positive regression, this line sticks out. Their peripheral stats aren’t bad, just not good enough to support their fourteen goals over their last ten games. That places them fifth in the league during that stretch and tonight they find themselves in a 6.5 total game. Salary-wise other than Elias Pettersson they are very affordable.

Defensemen and Goalie

Defensemen

Erik Johnson – Colorado $3,300 – EJ is always a favorite of the projection model. This is a byproduct of his duel propensity to both block shots and find a few shots on goal for a cheap price. As I always like to say, don’t spend up on defense unless you have to.

Goalies

Alexander Georgiev – Colorado – $8,200 – Free from being Igor Shesterkin’s backup in New York, Georgiev has been balling out in Colorado. He boasts a strong 2.58 GAA and .922% SV % and will face off with a Philly team that’s 30th of 32 in expected goals this season (2.22 per game).

12/5 NHL Best Bet

Arizona Coyotes +1.5 (+100) – DraftKings – 1 Unit – I just don’t know if Calgary has been good enough to be considered a -330 favorite against anyone. The Yotes tend to keep things close as three of their last four games have been one-goal losses. The Sharp model is giving them a 17% edge on the money line odds, the highest of the night but let’s just take the spread bet.

This Sunday’s slate will be starting a little bit earlier than we’ve become accustomed to. While we have a number of options for tournaments I will be rolling out a game stack. Let’s get down to the specifics below.

Aside from reading the article, don’t forget to check out our NHL DFS Projection Model which is available every morning.

12/4 NHL Main Slate of Games – Beginning 3 p.m. ET

*All odds and player pricing below have been obtained from DraftKings and are accurate as of the time of writing*

Minnesota Wild (+130) at Dallas Stars (-150)6 Projected Goal Total

Anaheim Ducks (+205) at Winnipeg Jets (-245)6 Projected Goal Total

Detroit Red Wings (-120) at Columbus Blue Jackets (+100)6.5 Projected Goal Total

San Jose Sharks (+120) at Buffalo Sabres (-140)6.5 Projected Goal Total

Chicago Blackhawks (+235) at New York Islanders (-280)5.5 Projected Goal Total

San Jose One “Tomas Hertl ($5,400), Timo Meier ($8,000), Kevin Labanc ($3,700)

We are fortunate to have the runaway leaders in SATF over the last ten games on a five-game Sunday slate. As always, I am looking to target expected goals more than actual production. The goal “if you will” is to shift any positive regression in our favor. We also have the season-long SATF leaders on this slate in the form of Dallas One. However, with 21 goals to show for their 269 SATF as compared to 14 on 214 for San Jose’s top unit, their production matches their peripheral stats. Dallas is also locked in a six-total game with the Wild. Meanwhile, the Sharks have a tasty matchup with the defensively challenged Buffalo Sabres in a 6.5 total game.

12/4 NHL Favorite Contrarian Line

Buffalo One “Tage Thompson ($7,900), Alex Tuch ($5,600), Jeff Skinner ($5,300)”

At first glance at this slate, I figured I’d have a line from the other 6.5 total game featuring the Red Wings and Blue Jackets here. However, as I dug in further, I realized if you look a couple of lines below the Sharks, we see another line of interest. Buffalo One is third in the NHL in SATF over their last ten games. Now Tage Thompson seems overpriced if you ask me relative to the other two skaters on this line. Therefore, if you need the savings for a better overall quality line, he should be the first man out. Thompson has 15 goals and 17 assists, to Alex Tuch’s 11 goals and 12 assists, and Jeff Skinner’s 11 goals and 14 assists. I mean, his numbers are a bit better than his linemates but not $2,300/$2,600 better respectively.

Defensemen and Goalie

Defensemen

Matt Benning – San Jose $2,800 – Some solid numbers here for a $2,800 punt. He has double-digit DraftKings points in four of his six games. Most of his production comes from simply blocking shots like a maniac but really if he does that, it’s all that we will need for this price.

Goalies

Conor Hellebuyck – Winnipeg- $8,400 – Anaheim comes in on the second night of a back to back to face Conor Hellebuyck and the Jets. They will be playing early by the usual Ducks west coast standards after traveling to Winnipeg where the Jets are -245 favorites. As for the man himself, Hellebuyck continues to be a smooth operator to the tune of a 2.29 GAA and .931 save %. His last outing was an absolute masterpiece 40 save shutout win against the defending NHL champion Avalanche.

12/4 NHL Best Bet

Chicago Blackhawks +1.5/ (-105) – 0.67 Units, Chicago Blackhawks ML (+235) – 0.33 Units – DraftKings – You all know I love the Islanders with all my heart. That said, there has been some regression coming for a while given they are dead last in the NHL in expected goals. They lost 3-1 to the Flyers Tuesday night followed by a 4-1 loss to the Predators Friday Night “albeit they won the sog battle by a very large margin”. This all said the Hawks come in on the second night of a back-to-back after upsetting the Rangers 5-2 and don’t have the normal travel you would have in such a circumstance. With the Islanders currently -280 money line favorites, there’s some value here.

Let’s get ready for a huge Thursday night hockey slate to kick off the month of December!

Aside from reading the article, don’t forget to check out our NHL DFS Projection Model which is available every morning.

12/1 NHL Main Slate of Games – Beginning 7 p.m. ET

*All odds and player pricing below have been obtained from DraftKings and are accurate as of the time of writing*

Colorado Avalanche (-200) at Buffalo Sabres (+170) – 6.5 Projected Goal Total

Nashville Predators (+180) at New Jersey Devils (-210)6 Projected Goal Total

Tampa Bay Lightning (-215) at Philadelphia Flyers (+185)6 Projected Goal Total

Vegas Golden Knights (+100) at Pittsburgh Penguins (-120) – 6.5 Projected Goal Total

Edmonton Oilers (+125) at Minnesota Wild (-145) – 6.5 Projected Goal Total

Carolina Hurricanes (-135) at St. Louis Blues (+115) – 5.5 Projected Goal Total

Anaheim Ducks (+245) at Dallas Stars (-295) – 6 Projected Goal Total

Montreal Canadiens (+240) at Calgary Flames (-285) – 6 Projected Goal Total

Washington Capitals (+105) at Seattle Kraken (-125) – 6 Projected Goal Total

Florida Panthers (-140) at Vancouver Canucks (+120) – 6.5 Projected Goal Total

Arizona Coyotes (+210) at Los Angeles Kings (-250) – 6.5 Projected Goal Total

Colorado One “Nathan McKinnon ($9,200), Mikko Rantanen ($8,500), Arturi Lehkonen ($6,400)

This line should not come as a huge surprise to most. Colorado One will be chalky as playing early as -200 favorites against the Sabres. After a slow start, they are also the NHL’s leading line in terms of SATF/Expected goals over their last ten games, registering 148 SATF.

After a decent start to the season, the Sabres have been falling hard with a 2-7-1 record over their last ten games. That’s tied for third worst in the NHL across that stretch. Furthermore, they have allowed an alarming 79 goals this season, the sixth-worst amount allowed in the NHL. Most of the other heavy favorites on this slate aside from the Avs are in six total games facing better goaltenders. Buffalo comes in on the second night of a back-to-back as well. In other words, it’s a good night to fire up the champs’ top unit.

12/1 NHL Favorite Contrarian Line

Los Angeles Two “Phillip Danault ($5,300), Trevor Moore ($5,100), Victor Arvidsson ($4,600)”

This line has made the list before and has been rather mediocre when previously listed. However, considering once again they are a top ten line in terms of peripheral stats, more production is bound to follow. They have 110 SATF over their last ten games “they are at the bottom of the graphic above”. However, they only have a paltry two goals to show for it. This game is a 6.5 total and considering the Kings are -250 home favorites, most of that production isn’t expected to come from the lowly Coyotes. The fact they provide salary savings is also a huge bonus on a slate where most of the lines you’d want to use are expensive. Let’s get some exposure to what could be a true late-night hammer!

Defensemen and Goalies “Covered in the 12/1 Goalies Article”

Defensemen

Jeff Petry – Pittsburgh $4,400 – With Kris Letang injured, Jeff Petry will be seeing extended minutes and a role on the top power-play unit. He might be a good source of some “Petry dishes” if you will. Given his price, there is some value to take in here at a position that I hate spending on. Shea Theodore is similarly positioned tonight with Alex Pietrangelo out. However, at $5,400 that would be the most I spend on a defender unless my build on whichever line was rather unique. Between the two I’ll take the $1,000 savings on Petry.

Ryan Graves – New Jersey – $3,400 – Cheap play with goal-scoring upside. If not spending up on both Petry and Theodore, I’d play at least one defenseman in the $3,000-$3,400 salary range.

12/1 NHL Best Bet

Florida Panthers/Vancouver Canucks – O 6.5 (-130) – DraftKings1 Unit – Classic book watching, this total trending down from the O/U 7 that it opened at.

Unlike the previous few Sundays, we have a decent-sized slate today with four games. All of the games are within an hour of each other aside from the late-night matchup in Los Angeles.

Aside from reading the article, don’t forget to check out our NHL DFS Projection Model which is available every morning.

11/27 NHL Main Slate of Games – Beginning 7 p.m. ET

*All odds and player pricing below have been obtained from DraftKings and are accurate as of the time of writing*

Winnipeg Jets (-165) at Chicago Blackhawks (+140)6 Projected Goal Total

Seattle Kraken (-165) at Anaheim Ducks (+140)6.5 Projected Goal Total

Vancouver Canucks (-115) at San Jose Sharks (-105)6.5 Projected Goal Total

Ottawa Senators (+135) at Los Angeles Kings (-155)6.5 Projected Goal Total

San Jose One “Tomas Hertl ($6,000), Timo Meier ($8,200), Kevin Labanc ($3,800)

Over the last ten games, San Jose One has been putting up some monster numbers. They lead all lines in the NHL in terms of SATF and expected goals by a decent margin. The Shark’s top line also leads all NHL lines in actual goals scored during that span as well within thirteen.

Tonight we find them in one of three 6.5 total games for a rather decent collective price “Only Meier is expensive”. Their opponents, the Vancouver Canucks find themselves traveling to San Jose on the second night of a back-to-back.

11/27 NHL Favorite Contrarian Line

Ottawa One “Tim Stuetzle ($6,900), Brady Tkachuk ($8,400), Alex DeBrincat ($7,300)”

I am not sure most people will want to be spending most of their salary on a line on a +135 late-night dog. It hasn’t been the season to be expected for the young Senators with some growing paints happening. The peripheral stats suggest that better moments are ahead. Despite being clear money line favorites at -155, the Kings have not necessarily been the best defensively. This line would have to be played separately from the one listed above as they do not fit together salary-wise. I think it is better reserved for larger tournaments.

Defensemen and Goalies

Defensemen

Luke Schenn – Vancouver $3,100 – We need some savings here and Luke Schenn fits the bill. He has eight points across twenty games so far this season. That is good enough for our $3,100 in a 6.5 total matchup tonight.

Goalies

Conor Hellebuyck – Winnipeg- $8,200 – He should be very chalky but Conor Hellebuyck makes a lot of sense tonight. The Jets goaltender is manning the twine in the only six total game of the night, where his team is a -165 favorite. Furthermore, he easily has the best stats out of any of tonight’s netminders.

11/27 NHL Best Bet

Ottawa Senators/Los Angeles Kings (+100) O 6.5 – DraftKings1 Unit

Unfortunately, there are only two games today, but we still have you covered! All four teams on this slate come in on the second half of a back-to-back and both games have heavy favorites. Florida and Pittsburgh are the chalk, Columbus and Chicago contrarian and there are takes on both angles below. Hockey country, let’s skate!!

Aside from reading the article, don’t forget to check out our NHL DFS Projection Model which is available every morning.

11/20 NHL Main Slate of Games – Beginning 6 p.m. ET

*All odds and player pricing below have been obtained from DraftKings and are accurate as of the time of writing*

Florida Panthers (-205) at Columbus Blue Jackets (+175)6.5 Projected Goal Total

Pittsburgh Penguins (-190) at Chicago Blackhawks (+160)6.5 Projected Goal Total

Florida One “Aleksander Barkov ($7,500), Matthew Tkachuk ($8,600), Carter Verhaeghe ($6,000)

On a two-game slate, there is little room to get that creative. Within that context, in both cash games and in tournaments, Florida’s top line stands out on this slate. Tied for fourth in the NHL with ten full-line goals and with peripheral stats to match they are statistically the best line on the table for tonight. It only helps their cause that they get to face a defensively challenged Columbus team. The Blue Jackets have allowed an NHL-high 75 goals so far this season. The Panthers are -205 money-line favorites and are all set to smash here.

11/20 NHL Favorite Contrarian Line

Chicago One “Patrick Kane ($6,400), Andreas Athanasiou ($4,100), Max Domi ($4,600)”

Pittsburgh Tristan Jarry manned the net for the Pens Saturday night and will sit out the second half of the back-to-back. Therefore, the Hawks will get the softer matchup in the form of Casey DeSmith. I like to use this spot to target lines that have underperformed their peripheral stats. This line’s output hasn’t been that great but their 130 SATF suggests better things to come. With Chicago +160 underdogs I don’t think people will be lining up to stack them up. As a result, they make the perfect building block for a tournament lineup. It’s an added bonus that they’re super cheap for a top line allowing us a little extra salary flexibility.

Defensemen and Goalies

Defensemen

Filip Roos – Chicago $3,200 – Quarterbacking the Blackhawks’ top power-play unit for only $3,200. On a two-game slate, not much more needs to be said. He makes for a great correlation with Chicago One above as he shares power-play time with both Patrick Kane and Max Domi.

Goalies

Arvid Soderblom – Chicago – $7,300 – This is an awful slate for goalies. Young Arvid Soderblom is due for the start after Peter Mzarek was in the net for the Hawks yesterday. Soderbloom’s 3.03 GAA isn’t half bad and so for $7,300 think he is our tournament goalie. Paying up for somewhat chalky Bob and his 3.46 GAA with only three 20+ DraftKings points all season…I guess you can say that’s not my thing.

11/20 NHL Best Bet

Florida Panthers/Columbus Blue Jackets (-125) O 6.5 – DraftKings1 Unit – Two strong offenses combined with goaltenders with weak stats = over lean on the total.

Once again, it’s time to do the hockey. There are thirteen games to look forward to on this giant Thursday slate. Aside from reading the article, don’t forget to check out our NHL DFS Projection Model which is available every morning.

11/17 NHL Main Slate of Games – Beginning 7 p.m. ET

*All odds and player pricing below have been obtained from DraftKings and are accurate as of the time of writing*

Dallas Stars (140) at Florida Panthers (-165) – 7 Projected Goal Total

Calgary Flames (+105) at Tampa Bay Lightning (-125)6.5 Projected Goal Total

Philadelphia Flyers (+260) at Boston Bruins (-315)6.5 Projected Goal Total

Colorado Avalanche (+105) at Carolina Hurricanes (-125) – 6 Projected Goal Total

Montreal Canadiens (-115) at Columbus Blue Jackets (-105) – 6.5 Projected Goal Total

New Jersey Devils (+130) at Toronto Maple Leafs (-150) – 6.5 Projected Goal Total

Pittsburgh Penguins (-110) at Minnesota Wild (-110) – 6.5 Projected Goal Total

New York Islanders (+100) at Nashville Predators (-120) – 6 Projected Goal Total

Washington Capitals (+100) at St. Louis Blues (-120) – 6.5 Projected Goal Total

Anaheim Ducks (+175) at Winnipeg Jets (-205) – 6 Projected Goal Total

New York Rangers (-130) at Seattle Kraken (+110) – 6 Projected Goal Total

Arizona Coyotes (+310) at Vegas Golden Knights (-380) – 6.5 Projected Goal Total

Detroit Red Wings (+105) at San Jose Sharks (-125) – 6 Projected Goal Total

Vegas One “Jack Eichel ($8,000), Chandler Stephenson ($5,600), Mark Stone ($5,800)

Man, I hate to be repetitive but I think that we go back to the well for the second Thursday in a row. Vegas has a slam dunk matchup where they are whopping -380 money line home favorites. That is huge for an NHL game. They’re giving the total 6.5 as they figure the Golden Knights will be slam-dunking on the lowly Coyotes.

As it stands, currently this line is in a three-way tie for the second most line-created goals in the NHL with ten. However, they are second only to Florida’s top line in SATF, which is the measure that I monitor more.

11/17 NHL Favorite Contrarian Line

Winnipeg Two “Pierre-Luc Dubois ($5,100), Blake Wheeler ($3,900), Cole Perfetti ($3,600)”

Tied for 27th in the NHL in SATF so not entirely jaw-dropping, we get Winnipeg’s second line. The amazing part is the cumulative price, especially considering the plus matchup with the Ducks. Anaheim is surrendering a ton of goals thus far this season and we want to attack them as much as possible. Only Dubois sits on the Jet’s top power-play unit. However, the other two skaters do see time on the second power-play unit.

Defensemen and Goalies

Defensemen

Mark Giordano – Toronto $3,000 – Perhaps somewhat of a shell of his former self. However, that’s built into the price. I think the Devils/Toronto game goes over the total and he is regularly seeing 20 mins a night with Jake Muzzin down. He has been blocking shots like a maniac over the last two games adding to his normal work. Ryan Graves of New Jersey is another option from the same game who also fits the bill at $3,100.

Nick Perbix – Tampa Bay – $3,500 – Cheap play with goal-scoring upside. Most of the guys below him price-wise are of the defensive variety. The rookie has six points in thirteen games to date.

Goalies

Conor Hellebuyck – Winnipeg Jets – $8,300 – Stellar 2.08 GAA and Winnipeg is a -205 favorite at home. He makes sense on a couple of levels and would be the cash-game goalie for sure.

Juuse Saros – Nashville Predators – $7,400 – Coming off back-to-back strong starts and home here in a six-total game for a low price. Nashville is a -120 favorite but Sorokin on the other side is priced considerably higher.

11/17 NHL Best Bet

New York Rangers/Seattle Kraken – U 6 (-110) – DraftKings1 Unit – Leaning to the models here which suggest a predicted total of 5.12.

It’s Sunday, let’s mix in a little NHL to go with our football. Aside from reading the article, don’t forget to check out our NHL DFS Projection Model which is available every morning.

11/13 NHL Main Slate of Games – Beginning 6 p.m. ET

*All odds and player pricing below have been obtained from DraftKings and are accurate as of the time of writing*

San Jose Sharks (+185) at Minnesota Wild (-215)6.5 Projected Goal Total

Vancouver Canucks (+190) at Boston Bruins (-225)6.5 Projected Goal Total

Arizona Coyotes (+285) at New York Rangers (-345) – 6 Projected Goal Total

Washington Capitals (+150) at Tampa Bay Lightning (-175) – 6 Projected Goal Total

Winnipeg Jets (+125) at Seattle Kraken (-145) – 6.5 Projected Goal Total

Tampa Bay One “Brayden Point ($7,000), Nikita Kucherov ($8,800), Brandon Hagel ($4,900)

For a five-game slate, there are some top lines in terms of production on its face. However, only Tampa Bay’s top line has the sort of peripheral stats to suggest that the stat lines are sustainable. Darcy Kuemper has been solid in net, but he’s beatable. This game only has a six total but the Lightning are -175 home favorites. We also have a full top power-play correlation going for us.

On the flip side, you could side with one of the Rangers’ top two lines. However, the Coyotes like to slow games down, possibly limiting the upside. The Yotes actually enter this matchup with a better record in their last ten games than the Rangers. One of the top two Boston lines is an option here as well although their underlying metrics have been rather disappointing

11/13 NHL Favorite Contrarian Line

Seattle One “Alexander Wennberg ($3,800), Andre Burakovsky ($4,600), Oliver Bjorkstrand ($4,500)”

The contrarian line is where we make the money and I think I have something special here. This Kraken line is FIFTH IN THE NHL in SATF including all shots “blocked shots, missed shots”. However, I don’t think they will be getting a ton of love facing Winnipeg. After all, they only have three actual goals to show for their efforts and the Jets have a strong rep defensively. Most models won’t distinguish for goalie though.

Considering David Rittich with his .885 GAA should be in net, it is a huge bump for Seattle. Thankfully, Conor Hellebuyck who has been amazing for the Jets was in yesterday. The Kraken are -145 home favorites, so overall, this is a great spot for this line to show up. All three skaters on this line head up the top power-play unit.

Defensemen and Goalies

Defensemen

Josh Brown – Arizona $3,200 – We need some cheap defensemen to make things work salary-wise. Brown fits that bill and has averaged eight DraftKings points per game this season. He is an every-night threat to hit the blocked shots bonus which is all we need here for this price.

Goalies

Linus Ullmark – Boston Bruins – $8,200 – Martin Jones is also in play here. However, Ullmark is the superior goaltender. His 1.95 GAA is outstanding and with Bruins -225 favorites, we are getting a little bit more win equity. I expect him to be chalk with some of the struggles Shesterkin and Vasilevskiy have had but that’s okay. Especially considering our lines are already a bit distinct.

11/13 NHL Best Bet

Washington Capitals (+150) – DraftKings1 Unit – Well take from the Sharp Model here, where Washington is showing as a +118 underdog instead thus offering 16.97% EV on the Moneyline EV, far and away popping above any other ML where only very nominal value is available. This can be our partial hedge against the Lightning top line.

It’s Thursday and we’re thirsty for some NHL. We have ten games tonight so not overwhelming but it’s what I’d call a nice-sized slate. Aside from reading the article, don’t forget to check out our NHL DFS Projection Model which is available every morning.

11/10 NHL Main Slate of Games – Beginning 7 p.m. ET

*All odds and player pricing below have been obtained from DraftKings and are accurate as of the time of writing*

New York Rangers (-155) at Detroit Red Wings (+135) – 6 Projected Goal Total

Vegas Golden Knights (-170) at Buffalo Sabres (+145)6.5 Projected Goal Total

Calgary Flames (+135) at Boston Bruins (-155)6 Projected Goal Total

Edmonton Oilers (+135) at Carolina Hurricanes (-155) – 6.5 Projected Goal Total

Arizona Coyotes (+225) at New York Islanders (-265) – 6 Projected Goal Total

Ottawa Senators (+155) at New Jersey Devils (-180) – 6.5 Projected Goal Total

San Jose Sharks (+140) at St. Louis Blues (-165) – 6 Projected Goal Total

Philadelphia Flyers (+110) at Columbus Blue Jackets (-130) – 6.5 Projected Goal Total

Nashville Predators (+160) at Colorado Avalanche (-190) – 6.5 Projected Goal Total

Chicago Blackhawks (+225) at Los Angeles Kings (-265) – 6.5 Projected Goal Total

Vegas One “Jack Eichel ($7,100), Chandler Stephenson ($4,800), Mark Stone ($5,300)

Main lock/early games always tend to be more popular so I’m really pulling from the first six games of the night here. The Devils will be popular as they’re on a roll and later on Colorado will get some ownership, being the champs and all. However, I’ll start off with the Golden Knight’s top line. They are currently tied for third in the NHL with eight goals and strong peripheral stats “4th in the NHL in SATF” to match.

After a hot start, the Sabres have now dropped three straight games while Vegas has coasted to eight straight wins. The Golden Knight’s +20 point differential is second-best in the NHL, only behind the Boston Bruins. As -170 favorites, they are one of the bigger favorites on the slate and the top line is also incredibly affordable. They are priced more like your average second line than a line toward the top of the NHL in both goals scored and all supporting categories.

11/10 NHL Favorite Contrarian Line

Los Angeles Two “Phillip Danault ($4,400), Trevor Moore ($3,900), Viktor Arvidsson ($4,000)”

A super cheap line from the top favorite of the night? A sneaky second line that’s quietly 10th in the NHL in SATF? A late-night hammer galore? We get all of the above and more in the form of the King’s second line. Unfortunately, neither of the three skaters gets any time on Los Angeles’ top power-play unit. They do however share a correlation on the second power-play unit. Overall, the type of line you try to weave into a large field tournament entry and not a 10-man contest.

Defensemen and Goalies

Defensemen

Dougie Hamilton – New Jersey $7,000 – If splurging up I think I might not try to get on the Erik Karlsson train and with Rasmus Dahlin in a tough matchup look elsewhere. We have yet to get a Dougie ceiling game and with the Devils rolling this could be a nice spot to buy in.

Ryan Graves – New Jersey – $3,300 – For far less money, you could also take a stab at Hamilton’s Devils teammate. Graves has goals in three of his last six games “he seems to alternate every other game”. That’s not bad scoring prowess for a $3,300 defenseman.

Goalies

Ilya Sorokin – New York Islanders – $8,100 – Stellar 2.20 GAA and winner of five of his last six starts. Tonight the Islanders are tied with the Kings for the title of slate-high favorites at -265. With the total set a bit low at six, it can be assumed most of that total is not projected to go the Coyote’s way.

Igor Shesterkin – New York Rangers – $7,400 – It has not been an ideal start to the season for Shesterkin. However, I think you can trust the talent and just take the discount in tournaments.

11/10 NHL Best Bet

Philadelphia/Columbus Blue Jackets – U 6.5 (-110) – DraftKings1 Unit – The model over at our friends at Sharp is showing a total of 4.98 providing for a 19.29% edge. Carter Hart was back in practice Wednesday and wait for him to be confirmed in net before placing this bet. On the other side, Joonas Korpisalo’s 5.00 GAA is surely lacking but he has only had one start “against Colorado no less”. I think we can give that man a pass.
