Hitting Stacks

Stacking against Wade Miley does not always work out as somehope, but I will at least get a few Boston bats in my lineups today. J.D.Martinez has crushed lefties with a .424 average, six home runs and 11 RBI. XanderBogaerts is hitting .323 with three homers and seven RBI vs. LHPs. I will spendthe $5100 and $4500 on DraftKings.

It will be a bullpen game for the Yankees, opening with ChadGreen, who has struggled mightily overall this year. I will definitely go withBrandon Lowe for $4900 and save some money with Ji-Man Choi at $3900 with theshort RF porch at Yankee Stadium always being inviting.

I will definitely use some Oakland hitters today againstGregory Soto and the Tigers. Khris Davis has seven home runs and 17 RBI in roadgames. Josh Phegley is hitting .367 with 23 RBI on the road, and I will go withhim even if he hits ninth. Marcus Semien has 12 RBI and 12 runs scored on theroad. Davis fits nicely at $4,500 and Semien and Phegley are $4,100.

Let’s attempt to stack Mets again as they try to avoid an embarrassingsweep at Miami and possibly keep Mickey Callaway employed for one more day. Youwill have to pay $5600 for Pete Alonso and Jeff McNeil may not be widely rosteredat $4500, but they are worth using against Sandy Alcantara. Robinson Cano needsto get the media off his back and is just $3700, as is Brandon Nimmo. If ToddFrazier gets in the lineup, he has started to show better form recently and isalso $3700.

Milwaukee is my second favorite stack of the day against theerratic Mike Foltynewicz. Christian Yelich  is a big spend at $5800 but well worth it, andI will get Mike Moustakas in there as well at $4600. If Yasmani Grandal is inthe lineup he is $4200 and Keston Hiura is $3400. Check the final Brewerslineup card to see how you can save some money and still run the Milwaukeestack, leading with Yelich. If playing in the earlier games, use the Brewersstack first.

Give me a few White Sox against Trent Thornton. All of the potentialTop 5 in the lineup are in play: Leury Garcia, Tim Anderson, Jose Abreu, YoanMoncada and James McCann if he is in there. If using multiple lineups throw aCWS stack out there. Only Moncada is over $5,000.

It is essential to have at least a Cardinal or two againstDrew Smyly and his 6.85 ERA. Jose Martinez ($4,100) is hitting .417 with sevenRBI and six runs scored in 24 ABs vs, LHPs. Paul DeJong ($4,800) is hitting.333 with seven runs scored in the same amount of ABs vs. lefties.

Drew Pomeranz has a 5.93 ERA and will have a difficult timeat Arizona. Nick Ahmed is hitting .375 with eight RBI and 11 runs scored vs.LHPs and is $3700. Ketel Marte ($5,000) is hitting .302 with five homers and 14RBI vs. lefties.

I will not hesitate to be daring with a K.C. stack againstTyler Skaggs. After the upcoming team I will mention, and the Brewers and Mets, they are my No. 4 overall stack of the day. I definitely want Hunter Dozier at$4100, Whit Merrifield is a good fit at $4500, Aldaberto Mondesi is worth the$4800 and I will take a crack on Jorge Soler at $3800.

The Twins are my favorite overall stack of the day againstYusei Kikuchi, who I do not trust to keep up his recent respectable run ofoutings. Byron Buxton ($4,100) may be low in the lineup, but he is hitting .400vs. lefties. C.J. Cron ($4,200) is a must start at .393 with five homers andnine RBI vs. LHPs. Marwin Gonzalez ($3,400)  has started to reappear lately and is hitting.313 vs. lefties. Eddie Rosario ($4,500) is at a .300 clip vs. LHPs. Check thefinal lineup card and consider those names for sure, and also keep in mind WilliansAstudillo is just $3,500. There are some definite friendly prices among theMinnesota options.

I will take a shot on a power type or two against Torontoknuckleballer Ryan Feierabend. Yoan Moncada ($5,300 on DraftKings) and JoseAbreu ($4,800) could easily take him out of the park if they get hold of afluttering pitch.

Dakota Hudson has a 6.14 road ERA, so I’ll load up on a fewRangers. Hudson has allowed five homers in three road starts and fourappearances. Willie Calhoun has started hot since being promoted and is worththe 4,600. I would certainly spend up for Joey Gallo in this spot at 5,700. AsdrubalCabrera also fits in at 4,100.

If I’m playing an all day or earlier slate, I will stacksome Mets against Pablo Lopez after they pummeled him for seven runs in the firstinning the last time they faced him. New York also wants to erase the stench ofFriday night’s loss. Pete Alonso hit two home runs last night and  has eight home runs, 18 RBI and 17 runs scoredin road games. Spend the 5,400. Robinson Cano is hitting .304 with 11 RBI and15 runs scored vs. RHPs. He is only 3,700. Leadoff man Brandon Nimmo is just3,600, although he could be moved down in the order if Jeff McNeil (4,200)returns. If Nimmo gets pushed down you could still consider him to round outthe stack. J.D. Davis could be in the lineup after a night game and may have a Top5 or so spot in the lineup to warrant using him at 3,700.

Kevin Gausman has pitched better at home than on the roadthis year, but he will be up against a potent Brewers lineup that I like bothfor stacking and individual picks. I will just have to spend up for ChristianYelich at 5,800 and also note that Ryan Braun (4,900) is hitting .306 with 17RBI and 17 runs scored vs. RHPs. Keston Hiura is just 3,400 and Mike Moustakas(4,500) has 16 RBI and 17 runs scored in away games.

Wade LeBlanc has a 5.40 ERA in home games so far this year,so the Twins stack is my favorite tonight and I urge you to get in any individualhitters you can. Marwin Gonzalez is just 3400 and has started to come back tolife recently. Jorge Polanco will be well worth the 5100. I would also considerJonathan Schoop  (3,700) and C.J. Cron (4,100)for some pop and Willians Astudillo (3,800) as well. There are some friendly Minnesotaprices to play with tonight.

I will have to get in a Giants bat or two against ZachGodley and his 7.85 home ERA. Brandon Belt is 4,100 and has 15 RBI and 16 runsscored vs. RHPs. Pablo Sandoval is worth a roll of the dice at the same pricewhen you consider he is hitting .317 with five homers and 14 RBI vs. righties.

Jakob Junis has a .291 road BAA and a 5.77 overall ERA, so Imay slip an Angel or two into my lineups. Tommy La Stella has proved he is wellworth the 4,700 and I will take the shot on Shohei Ohtani at 4,400.

1.) Texas Rangers

Miles Mikolas and the St. Louis Cardinals head to Texas to take on the Rangers. As soon as I saw Mikolas is pitching I immediately thought of how dreadful he is against left handed bats and away from St. Louis. On the road so far this season Mikolas holds a 5.14 ERA while giving up a .414 wOBA to lefties. I will be all over Joey Gallo, Nomar Mazara, Shin-Soo Choo, Willie Calhoun and add Rougned Odor if you want to fully stack it.

2.) St. Louis Cardinals

Let me start off by saying Adrian Sampson is God awful. He is even worse against right handed bats and the Cardinals are completely loaded with right-handed power bats. What also helps is that Sampson throws a ton of fastballs and the Cardinals demolish fastballs. Give me Marcell Ozuna, Paul DeJong, Paul Goldschmidt, and Matt Carpenter. I don’t mind a full game stack here at all.

3.) Los Angeles Dodgers

Anthony Desclafani has been serviceable this season, but I see him getting wrecked here. He is much worse against left handed bats and we have some elite lefties in this lineup. Start your stacks with Cody Bellinger, Corey Seager, Max Muncy and Joc Pederson. Would it be too much if I doubled down and called another Joc Pederson leadoff home run?

4.) Houston Astros

Rick Porcello has been a roller coaster this season and I think right now he’s on the downfall after a couple start high. The Astros are probably the hottest team in baseball and I’m all about backing them against a sub-par pitcher. Ride the hot hand of George Springer, Alex Bregman, Josh Reddick, Michael Brantley and Carlos Correa. I’m going to prioritize the lefties and Springer here. Porcello has a very tough time getting lefties out.

The main slate on Thursday only has five games, but that doesn’t mean we can’t go stacking.

Minnesota Twins

The Mariners’ Erik Swanson is a guy we want to attack when he takes the bump for Seattle. The right-handed pitcher has the highest ERA on the slate with a robust 6.35 mark. And his peripheral numbers don’t support any sort of upcoming rebound to his season. Swanson has a 4.68 SIERA and is allowing 2.22 HR/9, while owning the second lowest whiff rate of tonight’s starting pitchers. Combine that with the fact that the Twins’ offense has produced a .234 ISO versus right-handed pitching this season and Minnesota looks like a juicy stacking option for Thursday.

The Twinkies’ build should start with some righty-on-righty crime, as Swanson is allowing 2.84 HR/9 to righties in 2019. So the building blocks would be Willians Astudillo (FanDuel: $2,700 DraftKings: $3,900), Jonathan Schoop (FanDuel: $3,000 DraftKings: $3,900) and Byron Buxton (FanDuel: $3,200 DraftKings: $4,000). All three of these right-handed bats have over .200 ISOs against righties in 2019. And while he has been out a few days with a wrist injury, Nelson Cruz (FanDuel: $3,800 DraftKings: $4,200) certainly is in play if he makes the Twins’ lineup on Thursday. He has a .243 ISO and a .373 wOBA versus righties this season.

While Seattle’s Swanson has been bad against right-handed bats, you don’t have to ignore the lefty sluggers on Minnesota. Jorge Polanco (FanDuel: $4,300 DraftKings: $5,000), Jason Castro (FanDuel: $3,100 DraftKings: $3,700), Max Kepler (FanDuel: $3,300 DraftKings: $3,900) and Eddie Rosario (FanDuel: $4,200 DraftKings: $4,700) all have ISOs over .257 versus righties.

Seattle Mariners

The Minnesota Twins’ Michael Pineda is a great stacking target on Thursday. The right-handed starter has a 5.85 ERA this season as well a 4.71 xFIP. Look for the Seattle offense to take advantage of this opportunity against a weak pitcher, as the Mariners have a team ISO of .226 against righties in 2019.

As you piece together your Seattle stacks, start with the right-handed bats of the Mariners. Pineda has allowed a .397 wOBA, 2.39 HR/9 and a 49.4% hard contact rate to right-handed hitters this season. Edwin Encarnacion (FanDuel: $3,800 DraftKings: $4,700), Mitch Haniger (FanDuel: $4,000 DraftKings: $4,700), Ryon Healy (FanDuel:  $2,800 DraftKings: $3,700) and Tim Beckham (FanDuel: $2,900 DraftKings: $3,600), are all right-handed batters that have excelled against right-handed pitching this season. Each of these hitters have ISOs over .200 in those type of match ups.

And while he is not a righty stick, Daniel Vogelbach (FanDuel: $3,700 DraftKings: $4,800), has to make your list of Mariners. He has a monstrous .370 ISO and 181 wRC+ against righties in 2019.

Atlanta Braves

The Cardinals’ Adam Wainwright has really struggled with lefties this season. The veteran starter has given up a .406 wOBA, 2.55 HR/9 and a 46.2% hard contact rate to batters from the left side. So feel free to stack up with Brian McCann (FanDuel: $2,900 DraftKings: $3,600), Nick Markakis (FanDuel: $3,500 DraftKings: $3,900), Matt Joyce (FanDuel: $2,100 DraftKings: $3,500) and Freddie Freeman (FanDuel: $4,000 DraftKings: $4,500) in this one. Not only do all four of these guys have a plus matchup, they also provide plenty of salary relief as well.

Good luckand happy stacking!

Let’s jumpright in with the top teams for the May 15th DFS main slate:

Houston Astros

Over the last seven games, no offense has been hotter than the Houston Astros. Over that span, they have blasted 15 home runs, while maintaining a .333 batting average. Ride the heater again on Wednesday.

To build your Houston stack you will want to start with George Springer (FanDuel: $4,600, DraftKings: $5,800). The outfielder has a .519 average and a 308 wRC+ in that time. You will also want to target Michael Brantley (FanDuel: $4,100, DraftKings: $5,200) and Alex Bregman (FanDuel: $4,400, DraftKings: $5,300). They both have ISOs over .400 over the last week.

Texas Rangers

The Royals’ Jorge Lopez is a pitcher you want to target as evidenced by his 6.07 ERA this season. He is allowing a slate high 2.09 HR/9. As you build your Rangers’ stack against Lopez, you will want to build with lefty bats. Lopez is allowing a .432 wOBA to lefties, while the Texas’ offense has a .203 ISO versus right-handed pitchers.

So start your Rangers’ stack with Shin-Soo Choo. He (FanDuel: $3,400, DraftKings: $4,700) has a .216 ISO and a .396 wOBA against right-handed pitching. Pair the Rangers’ outfielder with Asdrubal Cabrera (FanDuel: $3,000, DraftKings: $4,200). The Texas infielder has a .250 ISO versus right-handed pitching in 2019.

Atlanta Braves

The Cardinals’ Michael Wacha has struggled this season. The St. Louis starter has a 5.16 SIERA and a 4.91 xFIP. He is also allowing 1.7 HR/9 in 2019. When building your Atlanta stacks, you will want to target right-handed bats. Wacha is allowing a .374 wOBA to righty hitters.

With that in mind start your Braves’ builds with Tyler Flowers (FanDuel: $2,500, DraftKings: $3,400) and Josh Donaldson (FanDuel: $3,400, DraftKings: $4,200). Both Atlanta bats have .200-plus ISOs versus right-handed pitching this season.

Good luckand happy stacking!

Researchingfor your DFS entries could be a daunting task with all 30 teams in actiontoday. Let us help ease your mind with two teams to stack for the early action andthree for the main slate.

Early Slate

Milwaukee Brewers

By just about any measure that exists, the Nationals’ Jeremy Hellickson is having a difficult season. The Washington starter has a 5.33 ERA as well as a 4.86 SIERA. He also has a below league average 18.3% K%. So, stacking with the Brewers at home makes plenty of sense here. As a team, Milwaukee owns a .214 ISO, while hitting 42 home runs in their home ballpark.

You will want to build your stack around the lefties in the Brewers’ lineup. Hellickson has allowed 2.7 HR/9 and a .427 wOBA to left-handed batters, while accumulating a 6.01 xFIP against them in 2019. This plays to Milwaukee’s strengths, as they have 30 home runs, most in MLB, in lefty versus righty matchups. The Brewers also own a .861 OPS (third-highest) and a .240 ISO (third-highest) in such situation.

Of course, the Brewers’ stack will start with Christian Yelich (FanDuel: $5,000, DraftKings: $5,800). The reigning MVP has a .450 ISO and a .511 wOBA versus right-handed pitching this season. Mike Moustakas has a .300 ISO and a .392 wOBA against righties, so he is a great option to pair with Yelich, especially on FanDuel where he is priced at just $3,400. Eric Thames is also in play on FanDuel with a .217 ISO against righties and a cheap $2,800 price tag. If you are looking to dig deep, although they are right-handed bats, Ryan Braun and Lorenzo Cain are both options for Wednesday. Both outfielders are 5 for 14 against Hellickson in his career.  Braun is especially appealing at his reduced-price tag of $3,000 on FanDuel.

Pittsburgh Pirates

The Pittsburgh offense is not one that usually is stackable but today they get the call, as they face the Rangers’ Shelby Miller. The Texas starter is the worst pitcher on the slate today and it’s not even close. He has a 7.99 ERA, 7.14 SIERA and a 7.59 xFIP. Miller also has a slate low 10.8% K Rate and is allowing a 47.1% hard contact rate. To make this an even easier call, Miller is throwing a fastball on 72% of his pitches this season.

When constructing your Pittsburgh stack, focus on Josh Bell (FanDuel: $3,900, DraftKings: $5,000). The first baseman has a .383 ISO and a 168 wRC+ versus right-handed pitching. If going for a two-man stack, Bryan Reynolds should be the next man up. Not only is Reynolds cheap, $2,700 on FanDuel and $3,700 on DraftKings, but he also has a .375 batting average and a 1.048 OPS against right-handed pitching and a .267 ISO against the fastball in 2019.

If looking to go three or four deep on your Pirates’ stack, Melky Cabrera (.464 batting average), Gregory Polanco (.400 batting average) and Colin Moran (.222 ISO) all have been successful against the fastball this season.

Main Slate

Colorado Rockies

Every timethe Giants send Derek Holland out to the mound, the DFS community should belooking to stack against him. The southpaw is basically everything you shouldlook for when searching for a pitcher to target against. Holland is a flyballpitcher with a 44.4% flyball rate. He is also getting hit hard with a 41.6%hard contact rate. The flyballs and hard contact have led to home runs as theSan Francisco starter is allowing 1.97 HR/9.

And now weget him in Coors Field, so of course, we want to get some Rockies in our DFSlineups for Wednesday. Holland has struggled in his time in the thin Coloradoair. In his career he is allowing a .385/.442/.667 slash line at Coors.

The Rockies’stack needs to start with Nolan Arenado. He is expensive at $5,500 onDraftKings and $4,900 on FanDuel but he’s worth every bit of the price. Thethird baseman has a .270 ISO versus left-handed-handed pitching in 2019. Itcertainly doesn’t hurt Arenado’s chances that Holland is also allowing 2.42HR/9 to righty bats in 2019. The Colorado slugger also has a pretty goodhistory against Holland. Arenado has four hits, two of which were home runs, in10 at-bats as well as five walks against Holland in his career.

AfterArenado, your next best Rockies’ bat is Trevor Story. Not only does Story crushlefties with a .234 ISO, he also enjoys facing flyball pitchers. He has a.364/.453/.750 slash line against such pitchers in 2019. Story is also 6-for-13in his career versus Holland.

But wait, there is more. Raimel Tapia, David Dahl, Charlie Blackmon and Daniel Murphy all have .200+ ISOs against left-handed pitching this season. So, look to cram in as many Rockies’ bats in your DFS lineup as you possible can.

Boston Red Sox

The Orioles’Andrew Cashner is another prime candidate for stacking against. His 4.93 SIERAis fourth-highest on the slate and is backed by his 4.94 xFIP on the season.Casher also is allowing a 46.1% hard contact rate in 2019.

As you look to stack Boston’s bat, look to start with the right-handed hitters. While Cashner has struggled against batters from both sides of the plate, he is worst against righties. He is allowing a .382wOBA and 2.7 HR/9 to right-handed batters.

So,naturally you will want to build your Red Sox’s stack around Mookie Betts(FanDuel: $4,300, DraftKings: $5,400). The Boston outfielder has a 1.040 OPSand a .434 wOBA versus right-handed pitching. He also has a .348 battingaverage against groundball pitchers, which Andrew Cashner is. Another rightystick to pair with Betts would Michael Chavis. The infielder has a .341 battingaverage and 196 wRC+ against righties this season. He also has a 1.455 OPSversus groundball pitchers.

Mitch Moreland(.357 ISO vs. R), Andrew Benintendi (1.108 OPS vs. groundball pitchers) and J.D.Martinez (.360 batting average vs. groundball pitchers) are all fine stackingoptions as well.

Houston Astros

With theRoyals throwing a right-handed pitcher, the Astros stack has to get a look.Houston has excelled against righties all season long. They have 49 home runs(third most), .273 average (second highest), .214 ISO (third highest), .352wOBA (second highest) and a 125 wRC+ (most) versus righties this season.

You can build your stack from either side of the plate. Kansas City’s Jorge Lopez has allowed a .407 wOBA and 2.76 HR/9 to lefties this season. Michael Brantley (FanDuel: $4,100, DraftKings: $5,100) and Josh Reddick (FanDuel: $3,000, DraftKings: $4,000) are great building blocks as both have wOBA over .360 against right-handed pitching.

If youprefer the Houston righties, no one will blame you. Lopez is allowing a 41.4%hard contact rate to right-handed bats this season. Feel free to load up onAlex Bregman, George Springer, and Carlos Correa. All three Houston stars haveISO’s above .282 against right-handed pitching. If you want to get a bitdifferent, consider Robinson Chirinos. Not only is he cheaper than the otherAstros right-handed bats (FanDuel: $3,100, DraftKings: $4,200) but he also ownsa .273 ISO against righties in 2019.

Good luckand happy stacking!

Red Sox: David Hess is not a good pitcher. The bullpen behind him is even worse. Oriole Park at Camden Yards is one of the easiest parks to hit home runs in. The weather looks mild. The Red Sox offense is coming alive. John Means is an unusual pitcher that the league is struggling to adjust to because of all the changeups he throws. Look for the Sox to redeem themselves from a blip against Means tonight.

Astros: The Astros, much like the Red Sox, are loaded offensively. And much like the Sox, they struggled to begin the year. And (do you sense a theme here?) like the Sox they have come alive offensively. They torched the Angel pitching staff in Mexico. Next up is the Royals mediocre at best bullpen and their starting pitcher Danny Duffy. Did I mention that the Astros light up lefties? And Minute Maid is a great park for hitters? Seems like these first two stacks will be very popular in the DFS community and for good reasons. You may have to get creative to take down a GPP, though, and so I give you:

Giants: This team hit well over the four game wrap-around weekend series in Cincinnati. The series was obviously highlighted by their amazing comeback from a 8-0 deficit. They now go to Coors, the best park for offense in all of baseball, and face Antonio Senzatela. Guys with some pop in their bats on San Francisco’s squad, such as Steven Duggar, Evan Longoria, Brandon Belt and old friend Buster Posey could be in store for a good game.

Rockies: We don’t have to go far to see my next stack (just across the diamond actually). The Giants are starting a lefty in Madison Bumgarner. He is lefty who has seen better days, mind you. Lefty on the mound means fire up the right handed bats on the Rockies, especially Trevor Story and Nolan Arenado. Don’t forget Charlie Blackmon, though, as his bat has come alive and he will get at least two ABs against the Giants bullpen.

Athletics: The Reds are a bad baseball team, especially in terms of pitching. The Athletics like home cooking. This seems like a good recipe to me. Just look at what the team across the Bay was able to do the Reds. Do you think the Athletics can’t repeat that?

Mariners: Surprisingly, the Mariners are the best offensive team in all of MLB on the road. Masahiro Tanaka is known for the occasional clunker. Why not roll the dice here in one of the easiest parks for left-handed bats to hit a home run in?

Monday brings on new momentum, which does not care what you did the week before. The purpose of this article is to guide you to winning your Daily Fantasy Baseball tournaments, because let’s be honest: We play to win. If you are not playing to win, your bank account will let you know that is the case.

CUBS

Sandy Alcantara is not ready to face a veteran stacked Cubs team, in Chicago. The problem with Alcantara is he loses focus very easily. Once he starts walking batters, once he gives up big hits, the wheels will fall off quickly. There are many ways you can stack the Cubs offense. The most popular way will consist of Rizzo-Baez-Bryant-Contreras. I will admit that is probably the best way to go. Those guys are all playing the best baseball they have played all season.

RED SOX

John Means well, you get what I did there. However, he will not do well. The Red Sox offense is one of the hottest in baseball. Xander Bogaerts hit a grand slam this weekend, J.D. Martinez and Mookie Betts are starting to rack it up. Featuring those three in your stack should result in great results, Steven Pearce is a good X-Factor to send one into the seats.

ASTROS

Jakob Junis is not ready to take on the hot-hitting Astros, in Houston. Junis cannot afford to make a mistake anywhere in that lineup, and the runs could flood through. Stacking Bregman would be the most obvious choice, taking a rare 2B option like Jose Altuve has to come in mind as well. Question is, do you take Springer? I would go with the Brantley-Correa combo to finish off the RBI potential.

PHILLIES

Miles Mikolas is off to a rough start, and that Phillies offense is too talented. Jean Segura is really table setting for this team, the middle of that lineup with Bryce Harper-Rhy Hoskins-J.T. Realmuto has to do the damage, Look for Segura to be the guy who sets that group up.

BLUE JAYS

Martin Perez is pitching out of his mind. Look for the Blue Jays to bring him back to reality. Expect the heart of the Jays order, Vladimir Guerrero Jr. and Randal Grichuk, to be the main guys to build around. Justin Smoak is a bit risky for the high price, but sign me up for Teoscar Hernandez in this one.

Saturday is here, with a slate that features a lot of good hitting situations, and a lot of good sleepers. I will do what I can to identify those players for you. All prices are based off FanDuel.

FIRST BASE – ALBERT PUJOLS ($3000) vs. WADE MILEY

The matchup looks great on paper, against the soft Wade Miley, who throws nothing but hanging sliders, to the MACHINE in Albert Pujols. Pujols is coming off of a couple of doubles in his last game, and when the MACHINE is locked and loaded, the results still come when he faces soft lefties.

FIRST BASE – JUSTIN SMOAK ($3600) @ LANCE LYNN

Lance Lynn may have shown life in his last start, but going back to Texas to face the big swinging Justin Smoak is exactly what the doctor ordered. Smoak has been on the cold side of life as of late, but this matchup against the non overpowering Lynn should open the door for Smoak to rake up those hits.

SECOND BASE – JOSE ALTUVE ($3800) @ TREVOR CAHILL

Altuve is having a nice season, quietly returning to MVP form, going up against Trevor Cahill, who has not pitched well in a number of years, should keep that momentum going. Altuve will rack up the stats and be a fantasy contributor for many years to come. Matchups like these will help that momentum continue.

THIRD BASE – TODD FRAZIER ($2800) @ GIO GONZALEZ

The Todd Father, going up against Gio Gonzalez sounds like a matchup straight from 2016, but we are in the future and both of these players are on the down swing of their careers. Frazier does not do much anymore these days, but this matchup here can help us remember the good days. Gio is not overpowering anyone anymore.

SHORTSTOP – CARLOS CORREA ($4000) @ TREVOR CAHILL

Correa may not be the next A-Rod like everyone said he would be, but he is still an All-Star and Trevor Cahill is the furthest from that. Correa is not having a bad season, hitting .296 with six bombs on the year. The matchup is good, the ballpark in Mexico can help, so I like Correa to keep it going.

OUTFIELD – CHARLIE BLACKMON ($4200) vs. LUKE WEAVER

Blackmon is one of the hotter Rockies on the squad, and going up against Luke Weaver who is good, but not good enough for Coors field, can prove to bring offense. To expect Weaver to throw a shutout is not realistic, and if you expect the Rockies to score runs at home, it is on Blackmon to set the table.

OUTFIELD – J.D. MARTINEZ ($4100) @ MANNY BANUELOS

Martinez may not have the power yet this season, but he is hitting above .300 and a tasty matchup against a soft lefty can be just what the doctor prescribed. Martinez is definitely confident at the plate, racking up six hits in the last two games! If I am Banuelos, I would not dare pitch to Martinez.

OUTFIELD – MIKE TROUT ($5000) vs. WADE MILEY

Any chance you can get to play the Hall of Fame talent in Trout against a weak lefty like Miley, you play him. Trout should be able to get some very hittable pitches that he can launch to another dimension. Trout is hot coming off of a HR in his last game, expect the momentum to continue.

OUTFIELD – GEORGE SPRINGER ($4400) @ TREVOR CAHILL

Playing in Mexico where the elements help the hitters, expect Springer to be very aggressive in the first at-bat against Cahill and can easily lead this game with one of his patented HRs. Springer has shown some pop this week with a HR, and this matchup can easily keep that momentum rolling.

STACKS OF THE DAY

COLORADO

No matter who is pitching, any Rockies hitter at home can make a huge impact. Luke Weaver has been strong as of late, but that front of the lineup for the Rockies (Blackmon-Story-Dhal-Arenado) is one of the best power stack to live and die by as of late.

ARIZONA

Any time any team travels to Colorado, they become a squad you need to consider stacking. Arizona’s offense is hot, scoring in double digits against the Rockies to open the series. They can easily continue that momentum against Kyle Freeland, who does not overpower anyone.

LOS ANGELES ANGELS

Wade Miley’s numbers are not horrible yet, but they eventually will be. The Angels have a lot of power from the right side in that lineup (Trout-Simmons-Pujols). Those three hitters should be able to produce runs throughout the game.

HOUSTON ASTROS

Trevor Cahill is never a reliable pitcher to depend on, and the Astros have one of the best front of lineups in baseball (Springer-Altuve-Bregman-Brantley-Correa). All of those guys can launch big hits.
