10/5 DFS Two-Game Slate (DK & FD)

The games: Minnesota Twins at New York Yankees (5:07 p.m. EST) & Tampa Bay Rays at Houston Astros (9:07 p.m. EST)

SP Strategy

Starting the right combo of two pitchers could give you a 20-40 point lead over the wrong combo of two starters, and there’s some huge value plays on this slate.

SP1: Gerrit Cole, HOU vs. TB (DK $10,800, FD $12,200)

For the most dominant pitcher on the slate, you’ll be spending top dollar, though Cole (who struck out over 300 batters in 2019) is much more affordable on DK. With his K/9 upside, he’s got the easiest avenue to 25+ DK points.

SP1 pivot: Blake Snell (DK $7,500, FD $9,400)

It’s hard to trust Snell against this dynamic and powerful Astros lineup. They hit for contact and power and sport a 131 wRC+ against LHPs. He’s super risky even at this price and Astros hitters have had plenty of success against him. He’s also probably not going to go past 2-3 IP, given his short appearances in his previous three starts/opens.

SP2: Masahiro Tanaka, NYY vs. MIN (DK $6,400, FD $8,000)

Tanaka usually pitches well in big games, and he’s been areliable starter in the postseason for the Yankees the past several years (3-2,1.50 ERA/ 3.49 FIP, .162 BAA and 22.3 K%). I like that he’s carrying about a 4-to-1K/BB rate after the All-Star break, even if there’s a chance he gets blown up fora couple HRs early. That would be a disaster for us, but his pivot – devoid of playoffexperience and still a veritable neophyte at the big-league level, is evenriskier.

SP2 pivot: Randy Dobnak (DK $5,800, FD $5,500)

Dobnak’s regular season numbers look a bit like Tanaka’spostseason stats – so he’s worth a look. But the Yankees were having somepretty good at-bats last night and I’m just not too interested in a play thisrisky.

10/5 DFS SP1/2 Combo Breakdown:

Top 3:

  • Cole/Tanaka leaves $4,100 per hitter on DK (Preferred – mixing in value and stud bats)
  • Tanaka/Dobnak leaves $4,725 per hitter on DK (For an Astros full power stack and just a couple of the best Yanks/Twins bats)
  • Snell/Tanaka leaves $4,512 per hitter on DK (super risky but viable if Cole gets less than 20 points and Snell pitches 2-3 clean)

Bottom 3:

  • Cole/Dobnak leaves $4,175 per hitter on DK (The option if you want to fade Tanaka)
  • Snell/Dobnak leaves $4,587 per hitter on DK (Crazy talk)
  • Cole/Snell leaves $3.962 per hitter on DK (No thanks)

10/5 DFS Hitters

10/5 DFS C: Martin Maldonado, HOU (DK $2,900, FD $2,200)

If Maldonado gets the start, he’s probably the cheapest starting bat on the slate and makes perfect sense as a contrarian play the obvious options of Gary Sanchez and Travis d’Arnaud, who’s got four hits in four career AB (with a homer) against Gerrit Cole. Pivots: Sanchez for power upside, d’Arnaud for BvP fanatics.

10/5 DFS 1B: Edwin Encarnacion, NYY (DK $4,600, FD $3,800)

The most expensive 1B is still a bargain at this price, and he’s got multi-homer upside in Yankee Stadium. The Parrot walker has a 121 wRC+ against right-handers this season. Pivot: Yuri Gurriel (1B/3B) at just $4,200 on DK.

10/5 DFS 2B: Jose Altuve, HOU (DK $4,300, FD $4,100)

We’re still on track with our basic builds of Astros/Yankees and the price is depressed on DK. I’m not going to overthink this one, plugging in one of the best hitters of the past decade, postseason included. Pivot: Jonathan Schoop ($3,500 on DK) if he’s starting.

10/5 DFS 3B: D.J. LeMahieu, NYY (DK $4,500, FD $3,800)

The Yankees leadoff hitter connected last night and always give you a chance with his high contact rates and ability to punch one the other way. He drew some surprising comparisons to Derek Jeter in an eye-opening deep dive before he even played a game for the Yankees, and I’ve been a believer from day one. Pivot: Alex Bregman ($4,300 on FD), Gurriel on DK.

10/5 DFS SS: Alex Bregman, HOU (DK $4,800)

Bregman launched 41 homers this year in an MVP-type season, including six in his final 13 games. He’s exceptional against LHPs (205 wRC+ and .473 wOBA) and there’s no reason to leave him out of your builds. Pivot: Gleyber Torres ($4,000 on DK), Didi Gregorius ($3,200 on FD).

10/5 DFS OF: Brett Gardner, NYY ($DK $4,200, FD $2,900)

Opposing teams have been pitching the sluggers carefully this season, and guys like Aaron Judge and Giancarlo Stanton may only see a couple mashable pitches over multiple ABs. This has allowed Gardner to bulk up his power numbers (28 HRs and .253 ISO) this season and produce at unexpected levels. He’s inexpensive and will be chalky, but he’s a must-have in your lineup builds. Pivot: Jake Marisnick (DK $3,000, FD $2,300) – I’ll have some lineups with both Gardner and Marisnick so I can fit all these other big bats.

10/5 DFS OF: Giancarlo Stanton, NYY (DK $4,000, FD $3,800)

Getting Stanton at this price seems like highway robbery, and while he’s probably going to exit early for a pinch runner or defensive replacement, he can get a lot done in 2-3 ABs. Watching his ABs last night, he looks good and is going to make most of my GPP lineups. Pivot: Michael Brantley (DK $3,800, FD $3,500).

10/5 DFS OF: Max Kepler, MIN (DK $4,500, FD $3,400)

I need some Twins in here and I’m most interested in Kepler, who’s plate approach and batted ball data seems tailor-made for Yankee Stadium. He’s a pull hitter and Tanaka could easily serve up a dinger if he leaves one in Kepler’s wheelhouse. Pivot: Eddie Rosario (DK $4,500, FD $3,600).

10/5 DFS FeaturedShowdown (9:07 p.m. on DK)

It’s going to be tough to use Cole as CPT and use allprobable starting players, but you can do it.

Sample DK Showdown Lineup with Cole at CPT ($400 remaining :

Captain (1.5x) – G. Cole ($18,000)

UTIL – Y. Gurriel ($8,400)

UTIL – M. Brantley ($7,800)

UTIL – T. d’Arnaud ($5,800)

UTIL – J. Marisnick ($5,600)

UTIL – J. Wendle ($4,000)

I‘m more inclined to use Cole at UTIL and fit in a studAstros bat at CPT (with d’Arnaud as my lone TB bat in the Altuve build):

Sample with Cole at UTIL:

Captain (1.5x) – A. Bregman ($14,700) or J. Altuve ($13,500)

UTIL – G. Cole ($12,000)

UTIL – J. Marisnick ($5,600)

UTIL – T. d’Arnaud ($5,800)

9/24 DFS Hitting Stacks of the Day

Red Sox at Edinson Vólquez/Ariel Jurado

The Red Sox shouldn’t have problems getting to either Vólquez, who’s having a last hurrah in the big leagues before retiring, or Jurado, who has a 5.73 ERA this season and has trouble getting Ks. You may want to skip Betts, who’s been getting rest since coming back from a foot injury, but grab shares of J.D. Martinez, Rafael Devers, Xander Bogaerts and some of the more inexpensive bats (Mitch Moreland, Brock Holt, Jackie Bradley) that should help you make salary. I think the 2-5 plus Christian Vazquez (the projected 7 hitter) might be my favorite stack among the Red Sox bats.

Houston Astros at Justin Dunn/Tommy Milone

The Astros are always worth looking to considering their 121 team wRC+ and .349 wOBA, but they face a couple mashable pitchers and you don’t have to worry about splits since they rake just about everybody. Get some shares of the red-hot George Springer (three HRs on Sunday) as well as Jose Altuve, Alex Bregman, Yuri Gurriel and Yordan Alvarez. they have the highest implied total among the teams with set lines so far.

TorontoBlue Jays at Dylan Bundy

These teams have been bashing each other’s brains in, and while I prefer the Blue Jays side of this offensive tilt, the entire game stack is in play. It’s been a GPP winner recently, so I have no qualms about rolling out the usual suspects again: Cavan Biggio, Randal Grichuk, Rowdy Tellez, and value bats like Brandon Drury and Teoscar Hernandez – especially if Lourdes Gurriel, Jr. (illness) sits for a second consecutive day.

9/24 DFS Hitting Stacks to Consider

Chicago Cubs at Mitch Keller – The Cubs are nearly out of the playoff picture thanks to the Cardinals, but for 9/24 DFS you shouldn’t consider them officially dead yet – and they’re a bunch who can still pile on the runs. The Pirates home park isn’t the best venue for stacks, so ownership should be relatively low.

Atlanta Braves at Danny Duffy – Plenty of bats to like for this potent Braves lineup facing the lefty in Kansas City, you’ll just have to leave out a couple since they’re all so good. I may be fading the Yankees in Tampa, but I’m not worried about the Braves against a hittable pitcher in the heartland.

Cleveland Indians vs. Hector Santiago – The Indians aren’t as consistent as the Braves offensively, but they have a bunch of lefty mashers with a special affinity for Santiago. The implied run total is over 5.5, which means you should have shares of the 1-5 bats along with some exposure to Franmil Reyes and Jordan Luplow. I might take a wait-and-see approach with Jose Ramirez, who’s set to be activated from the IL.

Oakland Athletics at Dillon Peters – The A’s aren’t as good against LHPs (.305 team wOBA), but it’s a viable contrarian stack to consider for 9/24 DFS. The implied total is also over 5.5 runs and seems a bit high — so tread lightly with this bunch.

9/24 DFS Hitting Catcher

Christian Vazquez, BOS at TEX

DK ($4,600)   FD($3,200)

Vazquez got a day off yesterday against the Rays, but he should beback in the lineup Tuesday in Texas. He’s got 3 homers in his last seven gamesand his overall numbers in 2019 have been impressive: .273/.316/.472 with 22 HRs.Digging a little deeper, we find a .232 road ISO, with 14 of his dingers comingaway from Fenway Park.

9/24 DFS Hitting First Baseman

Carlos Santana, CLE at DET

DK (4,900)   FD ($4,000)

Santana is having a career year, and I’m plugging him into most ofmy GPP builds against Hector Santiago. Hisseason slash sits at .288/.403/.529 with a 139 wRC+ and he’s destroying LHPsthis season (1.015 OPS, 162 wRC+ and .421 wOBA). There are many ways to go at1B on this slate, but Santana is my bet for a monster game.

9/24 DFS Hitting Second Baseman

Cavan Biggio, TOR at BAL

DK ($4,900)   FD ($3,700)

Did you expect me to play some other than Biggio? He hit anotherbomb last night and has ben raking every time I use him in GPPs – from lastTuesday’s cycle and Thursday’s home run to helping me spike some decent cashesin last night’s Rally contests on FanDuel. He’s way too cheap on that site andhis price tag on DK should keep him from being chalk – especially with so manyhigh-priced arms.

9/24 DFS Hitting Third Baseman

Manny Machado, SD vs. LAD (3B/SS on DK)

(DK $3,700)   FD($3,000)

It’s been a disappointing season for Machado, but he’d like to endit with some standout performances against his old team, the Dodgers. I lovethe matchup against LHP Rich Hill since Machado – with some really pronouncedsplits this season – hits .314/.401/.683 against southpaws. The price is rightfor Machado, and using him as a one-off or with OF Hunter Renfroe ($4,000 onDK, $3,100 on FD) – who’s another viable Padres power hitter with a 132 wRC+against LHPs – makes a lot of sense if you’re trying to find some value and buildingmultiple lineups.

9/24 DFS Hitting Shortstop

Corey Seager, LAD at SD

DK ($4,700)   FD($3,800)

Seger is finally hitting his groove as we near the postseason, andnow is a great time to plug him in at SS in the 9/24 DFS main slate. He’s got a123 wRC+ against RHPs and has a .381 WOBA and .314 ISO sine the start of September. There’s no time like the present, and presently, Corey Seager is raking.

Tired of losing money on your DFS and Sportsbook? Sign up today and become a winner whileturning your passion for sports into a second stream of income!

9/24 DFS Hitting Outfielders

Cody Bellinger, LOS at SD (1B/OF on DK)

DK ($4,800)   FD($3,200)

Cody might just ring that bell again on Tuesday night against “BadRonald” Bolanos, who’s given up three homers in 14 innings. Bellinger’s 166wRC+ and ridiculous .314/.414/.641 slash line vs. RHPs means he’ll be in all thelineups I can afford him in, regardless of the venue and the fact he’s on the road(149 wRC+ in away games this season).

Ronald Acuna, Jr., ATL at KC

DK ($5,300)   FD ($4,400)

He makes for a fine one-off if you’re not using the Braves stack, and he’s putting up obscene numbers against both LHPs and RHPs. Another interesting stat about Acuna is that he’s slashing a robust .281/.370/.510 with a 125 wRC+ at home and .279/.361/.527 with a 128 wRC+on the road. There’s not a day that I don’t consider him, even against the league’s top pitchers and regardless of the lofty price tag.

Austin Hays, BAL at TOR
DK ($3,800)   FD ($2,700)

Hays had a monster night in Toronto on Monday and he’s once again in a good spot facing a lefty. The 24-year-old slugger is slashing .302/.362/.535 in the 15 games he’s played in the majors, and he’s still very inexpensive on both sites. If he’s in the Orioles lineup on Tuesday, I’ll be grabbing shares.

9/24 DFS Additional Stack Options:

C: Wilson Contreras ($4,400 DK, $3,200 FD), Sean Murphy ($4,000DK, $3,100 FD)

1B: Anthony Rizzo ($4,900 DK, $4,100 FD), Trey Mancini ($4,700 DK,$3,900 FD)

2B: Jose Altuve ($4,700 DK, $4,200 FD), DJ LeMahieu ($5,000 DK)($4,200 FD – 3B)

3B: Gio Urshela ($4,100 DK, $3,000 FD) Vladimir Guerrero Jr, ($3,800DK, $3,200 FD)

SS: Francisco Lindor ($5,400 DK, $4,300 FD), Nico Hoerner ($3,700DK, $3,000 FD)

OF: Anthony Santander ($4,000 DK, $3,400 FD), Brett Gardner ($4,500DK, $3,500 FD), Randal Grichuk ($4,100 DK, $3,000 FD), Ramon Laureano GPP($3,100 FD), Austin Riley GPP ($2,200 FD), Adam Duvall GPP ($2,400 FD)

Today is thirsty Thursday, and I’m going to quench you with some easily digestible lineup selections for the 9/12 DFS main slate, which kicks off at 7:05 and has just seven games. We’ve got DFS stacks, one-offs and some standout options for GPPs, including one squad that’s bound to break through against a veteran hurler with limited stuff. Let’s go win some green!

9/12 DFS Hitting Stacks of the Day

Atlanta Braves at Drew Smyly

I’m going GPP before cash here and picking on a pitcher with a 2.16% HR/FB rate in Drew Smyly. You can stack Coors all you want in the afternoon slates (what’s with the 2-1 games, fellas?), but I’m looking to a talented Braves lineup that’s loaded with powerful right-handed bats and some left-handed hitters like Freddie Freeman who don’t crumble when a southpaw is on the mound. Atlanta carries a .331 team wOBA against LHPs and Smyly is eminently hittable. The classic 1-5 stack is in play, as are platoon bats Austin Riley (.291/.375/.745 slash) and GPP favorite Adam Duvall (if he cracks the lineup).

LosAngeles Dodgers at Dylan Bundy

Yup, I’m going right back to the Dodgers despite an anemicperformance last night against John Means, who’s a pretty good pitcher in hisown right. Dylan Bundy is a lot easier to attack from both sides of the plate(.398 xwOBA vs. LHBs and .391 vs. RHBs), so I’m not concerned about keepinganybody off. Lefties Joc Pederson, Cody Bellinger and Matt Beaty are all duefor offensive breakouts and Gavin Lux ($2,600 on DK, $2,800 on FD) and CoreySeager ($4,500 on DK, $3,600 on FD) are plenty affordable as well.

Houston Astros vs. Homer Bailey

His name is Homer, and these are the power-hitting Astros. I’m not trying to oversimplify things, because there’s plenty of data to support a blitz on Bailey –including a park shift that favors Houston over the veteran right-hander. Bailey has yielded a .429 xOBA to righties since 2018 when pitching his home games in Oakland and Kansas City, and the Astros are at home and have bats from both sides of the plate that I want exposure to here, including George Springer, Jose Altuve, Michael Brantley, Alex Bregman and Yordan Alvarez. Value options include Aledmys Diaz and Abraham Toro, not to mention inexpensive catcher Robinson Chirinos.

9/12 DFS Hitting Stacks to Consider

Washington Nationals at Kyle Gibson

Boston Red Sox at Clay Buchholz

Toronto Blue Jays vs. Jhoulys Chacin

9/12 DFS Hitting Catcher

Francisco Cervelli, ATL at PHI

DK ($2,700)   FD ($2,300)

This is a pure value play considering the Braves have so much talent throughout their lineup and Cervelli does a pretty good job (.414 xwOBA) vs. LHPs. He’s a cheap fifth batter in Braves stacks on DK and makes for an inexpensive utility or C-1B play on FD — if you can stomach rostering just three other bats from this team.

9/12 DFSHitting First Baseman

Mitch Moreland, BOS at TOR

DK ($4,000)   FD ($2,800)

You’re getting a great matchup in the middle of a stacked lineup for cheap price with Moreland. Big Mitch has BvP covered in a 4-for-8 small sample against Buchholz, who’s he’s homered against, and there’s plenty to like about going with this sneaky lefty at your 1B spot in a crowded GPP field focused on bigger names. Moreland has double-dinger potential and makes for a fine one-off or part of a Sox mini-stack.

9/12 DFS Hitting Second Baseman

Nick Solak, TEX vs. TB

DK ($4,100)   FD ($3,300)

Going right back to the well with Solak, who’s made me look good in this spot, and doesn’t command a very high price. The Rangers are probably only worth considering for a contrarian, large-field GPP stack because they’ve struggled against lefties this season (just a .308 wOBA and 82wRC+), but Solak offers a .379 ISO against LHPs and the venue is ripe for hitting. I’m not scared of Brendan McKay, even though he’s been able to whiff some bats here and there, and Solak is in the heart of the Rangers lineup with plenty of run-producing opportunities.

9/12 DFS Hitting Third Baseman

Josh Donaldson, ATL at PHI

DK ($5,200)   FD ($3,500)

Donaldson is historically good against LHPs with a career xwOBA of .XXX and he’s destroyed Smyly in 19 career ABs, including nine hits, three HRs and a 1.629 OPS. Whatever sample size you’re looking at, he’s a great play in a hitter’s park in that potent Atlanta lineup. He and Acuna will be the main focus of my Braves stacks.

9/12 DFS Hitting Shortstop

Corey Seager, LAD at BAL

DK ($4,500)   FD ($3,600)

Even after a recent two-homer night, the price on Seager isaffordable and the slick young shortstop has resumed the No. 2 slot in the Dodgersorder. I’ve mentioned my affinity for attacking Bundy in Camden Yards, and thisslate provides an opportunity to get one of the highest upside shortstops (rightthere with Xander Bogaerts) at a cut rate.

Tired of losing money on your DFS and Sportsbook? Sign up today and become a winner while turning your passion for sports into asecond stream of income!

9/12 DFS Hitting Outfielders

Andrew Benintendi, BOS at TOR

DK ($4,000)   FD ($3,200)

The Red Sox have been slumping at the plate, but Benintendi’s numbers over the past two seasons against RHBs (.405 xwOBA) make me excited to play him against Buchholz. There aren’t too many outfielders at this price point with as much run-producing upside.

Michael Brantley, HOU vs. OAK

DK ($4,300)   FD ($4,000)

I have no qualms about you stacking the Astros outfield in its entirety and using both Alvarez and Springer, but if there’s one bat I’d lean towards as a one-off, especially if I’m building an expensive stack elsewhere, it’s Brantley. He’s always a little too cheap and offers plenty of upside with excellent numbers at home (.381 wOBA) and against RHPs (.207 ISO).

Ronald Acuna, Jr., ATL at PHI

DK ($5,500)   FD ($4,100)

Acuna has a .488 xwOBA and .277 ISO vs. LHPs this season andremains the premier leadoff hitter in the NL. He’s an essential part of myBraves stacks, sometimes gets ignored because of his lofty price tag, and isplayable in both cash games and GPPs for his solid floor and soaring upside.

Additional options:

C: Robinson Chirinos ($3,800 DK), Reese McGuire ($3,300 DK)

1B: Jesus Aguilar ($2,800 FD), Matt Adams ($3,400 DK)

2B: Cavan Biggio ($4,200 DK) Brad Miller ($3,000 DK)

3B: Kyle Seager ($4,300 DK), Eugenio Suarez ($4,700 DK)

SS: Bo Bichette ($5,000 DK), Xander Bogaerts (4,900 DK)

OF: Aristides Aquino ($3,700 FD), Philip Ervin ($3,300 DK),Jonathan Davis ($2,600 DK), Danny Santana ($4,700 DK) Jay Bruce (GPP option at 3,800on DK)

This Saturday August 10th slate is all about landing the right bats. Follow my stud and value plays and lock in the MLB DFS Picks of Destiny.

MLB DFS Stacks: Astros World

Houston Astros: They didn’t go bananas last night, but I didn’t really expect them to. Today is a different story. They go against Aaron Brooks and his 5.45 ERA. Brooks usually only goes a couple innings and when the Orioles try to stretch him out, he is getting hit. In his last two starts he has given up three home runs and eight earned runs. He does not have a single game this season where he has pitched over three innings and not given up a run. The Astros lineup is lethal. I am expecting Houston to be the highest scoring team on the slate. They have scored double digits in two of their last three games. As a team they are batting .325/.646 SLG/1.047 OPS in August. In 47 at bats vs Aaron Brooks the Houston Astros starters have only struck out five times. I will personally be stacking four Astros and home run hunting on the other positions. They are without a doubt my favorite MLB DFS stack.

Listed in order of preference: Yordan Alvarez, George Springe, Jose Altuve, Carlos Correa, Alex Bregman, Yuli Gurriel, Michael Brantley, Robinson Chirinos. Breakdown and prices of my favorite MLB DFS bats are listed below.

San Diego Padres: They face Chi Chi Gonzalez at home tonight. Chi Chi has a 5.95 ERA and 1.73 WHIP. He has never made it to six innings and has never given up less than two runs this season. The Padres have plenty of power in their lineup and have been hitting under the radar lately. I expect low ownership and high upside.

Listed in order of preference: Fernando Tatis, Manny Machado, Hunter Renfroe, Will Myers, Eric Hosmer, Josh Naylor, Francisco Mejia. Breakdown and prices of my favorite MLB DFS bats are listed below.

Position Rankings and Values

Check out our Data Driven Projections for FanDuel Hitters for Premium Gold Members.

Catcher: Travis d’Arnaud ($3,700 FD; $4,200 DK ) has nine home runs this season vs left handed pitching in 96 at bats. He is hitting leadoff with a .329 ISO/.411 wOBA vs Tommy Milone (L). He has a .433 ERA and has reverse splits, being worse at home. In his last four starts he has given up 15 runs. Travis d’Arnaud has not put up a fantasy goose egg since July 19th. You can play him with a safe floor and home run upside.

Catcher Value: Alex Avila ($2,600 FD; $4,000 DK) is batting seventh, on the road, vs. the struggling Kenta Maeda. Avila has seven homers and is hitting .329 ISO/.411 wOBA vs righties this season. Maeda has given up 13 runs in his last three starts, with two of those coming at home. Avila is cheap and has two home runs in his last two games and still nobody will be on him, besides us.

Value Catcher: Martin Maldonado TOP CATCHER

First Base Stud: Carlos Santana ($3,700 FD; $4,600 DK) is contributing every game and no one is talking about him. He has gotten at least six FanDuel points over his last 10 contests. He has a solid MLB DFS floor. He takes on Jake Odorizzi, who has been good some starts and bad some starts. In July he had a 7.43 ERA. The Indians are starting to heat up and I think they get to him today. Carlos Santana has 19 home runs on the season and is batting .269 ISO/.400 wOBA vs righties. I like Santana a lot.

First Base Mid Value: Yuli Gurriel ($3,500 FD; $5,300 DK) is tied with George Springer for most home runs against right handed pitching this year vs righties. It’s surprising, I know. He is cheap for an Astro, and will have six or seven bats in front of him I love. He should be getting on base, getting RBI and has just a good of chance to go deep as any Astro today, at a fraction of the price (on FanDuel). There is nothing not to like. He is batting .253 ISO/.384 wOBA on the season and gets to go against Aaron Brooks. He pays off.

Second Base: Jose Altuve ($4,400 FD; $5,400 DK) Houston is going off today, and that means Altuve will get a piece like always. He is batting second in my favorite stack vs Aaron Brooks. Altuve has three homers in his last six game and carries a .337 wOBA on the season. If Altuve doesn’t go deep a I would expect a couple hits, a couple runs and a couple RBI which would work just fine. Lock him in a second base and get cute somewhere else.

Second Base Value: Mike Brosseau ($2,700 FD; $3,600 DK) of the Tampa Bay Rays hits lefties well. Batting .256 ISO/.398 wOBA vs them for the year, Brosseau is due after a minor cold streak. I prefer to pay up at this position, but if forced to punt I think Brosseau makes sense.

Second Base Honorable Mention: Kestin Hiura

Shortstop Stud: Fernando Tatis ($4,500 FD; $5,600 DK) is on fire. Batting leadoff with three home runs in his last four games. He goes against Chi Chi Gonzalez (5.95 ERA) Just keep riding the train. Tatis is hitting .300/.633 SLG in August.

Shortstop Stud/Mid: Carlos Correa ($3,900 FD; $5,500 DK) 12.5, 34.9, 12.5, 12.2, 25.3, 9, 27.9. Those are Correa’s last seven FanDuel scores. He is officially back and not everyone knows it yet. He has 12 homers on his shortened season this year vs righties. He hits .277 ISO/.381 wOBA and should be batting sixth behind five other studs. Lock button.

Third Base Base: Jose Ramirez ($3,500 FD; $4,300 DK) has gone against Jake Odorizzi 20 times and hit three home runs off him in his career. He is batting .211 ISO/.335 wOBA this year but has been hot lately with over 25 FanDuel points in each of his last four games. I like hot streaks, and he is on one, vs a pitcher he owns. Sold.

Third Base Mid/Value: Miguel Sano ($3,500 FD; $5,000 DK) has 11 home runs on the season and hits .288 ISO/.362 wOBA vs righties. He is batting third vs Adam Plutko. He has given up at least a run in every single MLB game he has ever played in (11). It feels like the right spot for Sano with an Indians team that should win this game.

Outfield Stud: Yordan Alvarez ($4,300 FD; $5,800 DK) We are targeting Aaron Brooks. Alvarez bats fifth and is swinging that bat just as well as any Astro right now. He has nine home runs vs righties and hits .325 ISO/.458 wOBA. Alvarez is also HOT with 12 hits, eight RBI, four runs and two homers in his last seven games. Stack Astros and figure the rest out.

Scratched Outfield Mid: Will Myers ($2,800 FD; $3,900 DK) also goes against Chi Chi Gonzalez. Myers should be batting sixth. He has been somewhat cold but I like him to get back on track today. He has nine home runs and hit .308 vs righties this year.

New Outfield Mid: Aristides Aquino, Josh Naylor (prefer both over Grisham)

Outfield Value Trent Grisham ($2,900 FD; $3,300 DK) is batting leadoff vs Pedro Payano. While I don’t think Payano is terrible, I do think the Brewers get to him. Grisham is consistent in his brief MLB career. He is batting .278 ISO/.359 wOBA and has one home run in his first seven games. Tonight will be his second home game and I bet he tries to show off after putting up zero stats last night. I like him as a cheap MLB DFS outfielder.

I primary used FanDuel when building optimal MLB DFS lineups.

This report will provide stacks that I recommend for today’s 7 game main slate. I’ve also included my favorite one-offs and value plays.

Houston Astros Stack

vs. LHP Andrew Heaney (LAA): 5.70 Runs

This is a play you’re not going to be able to get away from tonight. Andrew Heaney carries a 5.40 ERA, 5.39 FIP, and 4.20 SIERA through 36.2 innings pitched. Through 27 innings pitched, right handed batters are slashing .319 wOBA, .449 SLG, and to a .304 OBP against Heaney. The Astros have been hitting very well recently, slashing .374 wOBA, .204 ISO, and a .516 SLG. Smaller slate tonight so ownership will be a lot more concentrated on the Astros but it is good chalk and I’m perfectly fine with eating it.

Preferred Stack: (in order of preference) Jose Altuve $3700 FD|$4200 DK, Alex Bregman $4300 FD|$5000 DK, Yordan Alvarez $4100 FD|$4800 DK, Yuli Gurriel $3400|$4400, and Robinson Chirinos $3100 FD|$3800 DK. George Springer ($4400 FD|$5400 DK) is my last choice for higher priced guys but if you’re playing multiple lines I would definitely have exposure.

New York Mets Stack

vs. RHP Jake Arrieta (PHI): 5.00 Runs

I’ve eagerly awaited a solid left handed power hitting team to go against Jake Arrieta since those string of rainouts in Washington a few weeks back. He carries 4.43 ERA, 5.15 FIP, and a 4.85 SIERA into tonight’s game. He is absolutely terrible to left handed batters. They are slashing .383 wOBA, .535 SLG, and to a .386 OBP through 43.0 innings pitched. He has surrendered 27 earned runs and 11 home runs over that same span. The Mets are hitting to a tune of .313 wOBA, .181 ISO, and 101 WRC+ over the last two weeks, slightly above their season averages. Be weary of the weather here tonight.

Preferred Stack:(in order of preference) Jeff McNeil $3600 FD|$4900 DK, Dominic Smith $2600 FD|$4900 DK, Pete Alonso $3600 FD|$4900 DK, Michael Conforto $3500 FD|$4400 DK, and Todd Frazier $3000 FD|$4100 DK.

Oakland Athletics Stack

vs. LHP Marco Gonzales (SEA): 5.15 Runs

Marco Gonzales carries a 4.39 ERA, 4.11 FIP, and 5.14 SIERA into tonight’s game. He has fairly identical splits with a .324 wOBA, .444 SLG, and .327 OBP through 78.1 innings pitched against right handed batters. Most should be focused on that Astros stack and probably spending down for some cheap Cardinals so we have a chance to catch the A’s at low ownership. I didn’t list them, but I know they let down a lot of people last night. The A’s are slashing to a .349 wOBA, .223 ISO, and .499 SLG vs. left handed pitching this season. The team as a whole has been in a bit of a hitting slump over the last two weeks, slashing to a .246 wOBA, .112 ISO, and .303 SLG in that time span. I always feel like Oakland is pretty risky, but I’ll go there in GPPs tonight.

Preferred Stack:(in order of preference) Matt Olson $3400 FD|$4700 DK, Marcus Semien $3700 FD|$4300 DK, Josh Phegley $2600 FD|$4700 DK. Matt Chapman $3800 FD|$4500 DK ,and Ramon Laureano $3000 FD|$4100 DK.

One-offs and Value Plays

Josh Phegley (OAK) $2600 FD| $3700 DK, Robinson Chirinos (HOU) $3100 FD| $3800 DK, Hunter Renfroe (SDP) $2700 FD, Jose Martinez (STL) $2700 FD|$3500 DK, Paul Goldschmidt (STL) $3000 FD|$3400 DK, and Brad Miller (PHI) $2000 FD|$3500 DK.

There was a full slate of games for MLB DFS on Wednesday, June 3rd and we even had a doubleheader with the Tigers and White Sox. Some big name pitchers put up big numbers which means we had some notable bats who put up some duds. Points and salaries are based on DraftKings.

Sign up NOW for WIN DAILY Premium Gold here. Projections, weather reports, wagering info, 24/7 expert chats and more.

DFS Winners

Stephen Strasburg ($10,300)

Strasburg and the Nationals played host to the Marlins on Wednesday and got the win 3-1. Strasburg was the top MLB DFS performer and put up 45.5 fantasy points. He was able to pitch 7.1 innings and struck out a whopping 14 batters over his 110 pitches. Strasburg only allowed two hits and gave up two walks. He was credited the win and improved to 10-4 on the year. Strasburg has been a stud nearly all season and his ERA is now at 3.64 and his WHIP is at 1.04. His K/9 is in great shape at 10.68.

Strasburg’s Outlook

Strasburg will not have another start before the All-Star break. When the second half of the season resumes he should slot right back in as one of the Nationals’ best starters. Strasburg did struggle a bit in his last three starts going into Wednesday but righted the ship in a big way. This was Strasburg’s first start in which he didn’t allow an earned run since mid April. His high strikeout rate will keep him as a top MLB DFS pitcher for the foreseeable future.

Sonny Gray ($9,200)

Sonny Gray took advantage of the scuffling Milwaukee Brewers’ lineup Wednesday and got the win in a 3-0 game. Gray improved to 5-5 on the year and has now taken a win in three of his last four starts. Gray was able to strike out 12 over eight full innings. He allowed four hits and only walked one. Gray scored 43 MLB DFS points. His ERA is now at 3.59 and his WHIP is at 1.18. His K/9 now sits at 10.27 which is a big improvement from his career number of 8.06.

Gray’s Outlook

Gray will also not make another start before the All-Star break. He has been a very consistent pitcher this year and has not given up more than four earned runs in any start and that was only on two occasions. After starting the season 0-4 he has improved all the way to 5-5 and has pitched really well over the past two months. Expect him to continue his good first half and pitch well after the break.

Mike Clevinger ($9,700)

Clevinger and the Indians’ pitching staff combined to shut out the Royals on Wednesday. Clevinger started it out with six great innings. He allowed only four hits and struck out nine. The Indians’ coaching staff only allowed him to throw 79 pitches, which limited his upside. He scored 33.1 fantasy points and improved to 2-2 on the year. He has now started five games this year and has an ERA of 4.44. This ERA should improve as his WHIP is only 0.99. His strikeout numbers are off the charts as he has a K/9 of 14.81. This was a great bounce-back performance as Clevinger gave up seven earned over just 1.2 innings in his last start.

Clevinger’s Outlook

Clevinger will also have a long break before his next start as the Indians only have three more games before the All-Star break. In limited action this year, Clevinger showed immense upside to go with a bit of streakiness. Clevinger has three games where he allowed no earned runs and in the other two he combined for 12 earned runs over just six innings. This could be a case where he was still knocking off some rust and a small break could be just what he needs. Expect Clevinger to come out after the All-Star break as one of the top MLB DFS pitchers for the remainder of the year.

DFS Losers

Chris Sale ($11,800)

Sale and the Boston Red Sox were visitors at Toronto and took the loss 6-3. This loss for Sale dropped his record to a surprising 3-8. Sale was not able to get through six innings Wednesday and gave up five earned runs on nine hits. He struck out five while walking two and gave up three home runs. His 5.55 MLB DFS points was his worst performance since early April. Sale’s ERA is now at 4.04 and his WHIP is in great shape at 1.07. His K/9 is also very good at 12.87.

Sale’s Outlook

Sale will not make another start before the All-Star break. Sale’s numbers show he should have some positive regression in his win-loss total after the break. He has been one of the top MLB DFS pitchers all season and that should not change after the break. Expect him to use the break to his advantage and rest up and come back as strong as ever.

George Springer ($5,900), Jose Altuve ($4,600)

Springer, Altuve and the Astros were visitors at the very hitter friendly Coors Field and won in a low scoring game, 4-2. Most who expected this to be a very high scoring game were disappointed with the final score. Springer and Altuve were both high priced and highly owned players in this matchup and both put up goose eggs. Springer was off to a scintillating start to the year before getting injured and has a batting average of .307 to go with an OPS of .995. He has hit 18 home runs and has 45 RBI, all in the span of only 56 games. Altuve also missed some time with injury but has not been his normal self when on the field. Altuve is batting .264 with an OPS of .793, both under his career averages by a good margin. He has hit 10 home runs and has 25 RBI over 52 games played.

Springer and Altuve’s Outlook

Both of these All-Star type players should bounce back post All-Star break. Springer should find the form that had him in early contention for the MVP and Jose Altuve has been too good of a player over the last few years to stay down. Expect these two and the rest of the Astros’ offense to be at the top of MLB DFS lists in the second half of the year.

Home Run Derby Losers

Christian Yelich and Vladimir Guerrero Jr. wil face off as the 1 and 8 seed in the Home Run Derby over All-Star weekend. These are two guys who if they weren’t matched up, would have been the odds-on favorites in my opinion. Now they will have to slug it out just to get to the second round. I still think whoever gets the win in this round one matchup will go on to win the entire Home Run Derby.

Injury Report

Justin Upton left Wednesday’s game with a left quad injury. With this injury coming so close to the All-Star break he could be held out until after the break.

Scooter Gennett left Wednesday’s game with a groin injury. This is expected to land him back on the IL.

Here are thetop teams to stack for MLB’s May 22nd action:

Seattle Mariners

The Texas Rangers’ Adrian Sampson is the perfect stacking target on Wednesday as he is due to come in after Jesse Chavez, who only helps make this stack formidable. Sampson has a 4.79 ERA this season as well as a 5.18 SIERA. Sampson also is getting hit extremely hard, as he has a 47.2% hard contact rate in 2019. The Seattle offense will take advantage of these opportunities, as the Mariners have a team ISO of .229 against righties this season.

As you construct your Seattle stacks, look to begin with the right-handed bats of the Mariners. Sampson has allowed a .343 batting average, .428 wOBA and 2.22 HR/9 to right-handed hitters this season. Edwin Encarnacion (FanDuel: $4,000 DraftKings: $5,300), Mitch Haniger (FanDuel: $3,800 DraftKings: $5,300), Ryan Healy (FanDuel:  $2,800 DraftKings: $3,700) and Tim Beckham (FanDuel: $2,900 DraftKings: $4,000), are all right-handed batters that have excelled against right-handed pitching this season. Each of these hitters have ISO’s over .200 in those type of matchups.

And while heis not a right-handed batter, Daniel Vogelbach (FanDuel: $4,000 DraftKings: $5,500),has to make your list of Mariners. He has a .410 ISO and .458 wOBA againstrighties in 2019, while Sampson is allowing a 50.9% hard contact rate tolefties this season.

Texas Rangers

Seattle will be starting Marco Gonzales. The southpaw has a put up decent numbers in 2019 but has a 4.99 xFIP, meaning regression is on its way. Look for that move back to mean to begin tonight. The Rangers put up big power numbers against left-handed pitching.

Piece thatRangers’ stack together with the left mashers: Joey Gallo (FanDuel: $4,300 DraftKings:$5,600), Nomar Mazara (FanDuel: $3,600 DraftKings: $4,100), Hunter Pence (FanDuel:$3,900 DraftKings: $5,400) and Danny Santana (FanDuel: $3,700 DraftKings: $5,200).

New York Yankees

Whenever the Baltimore Orioles push Dan Straily to the bump, we are going to be interested in attacking the right-hander with stacks. And today is no different, especially with the Yankees being Straily’s opponent. The New York offense has produced the sixth-highest ISO against right-handed pitching this season. That should play well against Straily, who owns a 6.42 SIERA, 7.24xFIP and 2.93 HR/9 this season, all of which are the highest of any pitcher scheduled to start today.

When building your Pinstripes stack, feel free to use any and all Yankees regardless of which side of the plate they bat from. Straily has been bad against both righties and lefties this season. Against left-handed batters he is allowing a .384 wOBA and a 2.3 HR/9. And versus righties he is allowing a .394/.419/.732 slash line.

Just be sure not to leave Gary Sanchez (FanDuel: $4,400 DraftKings:$5,500) off any of your Yankee builds. The New York slugger is raking againstrighties this season. He owns a .381 ISO and a .413 wOBA against them. You are probablygoing to want some combination of Gleyber Torres (FanDuel: $4,000 DraftKings: $5,300),Brett Gardner (FanDuel: $3,000 DraftKings: $4,800), Luke Voit (FanDuel: $4,200 DraftKings:$5,300) and Clint Frazier (FanDuel: $3,400 DraftKings: $4,300) as well. Each ofthose four Yankees’ hitters have .200-plus ISOs against right-handed pitchingin 2019.

Houston Astros

The Astroshave crushed right-handed pitching all season long. They have a .220 ISO, .355wOBA and a 127 wRC+ against them. With the White Sox starting Ivan Nova in thisone, you have to believe they keep smashing, so load up on the Astros.

As you loadup on them, feel free to picks batters from either side of the plate. Nova isallowing a .435 wOBA to lefties and a .365 wOBA to righties in 2019.

The Astros’stack should begin with the usual suspects. Alex Bregman (FanDuel: $4,300DraftKings: $5,500), George Springer (FanDuel: $4,500 DraftKings: $5,900) if heis in the lineup and Michael Brantley (FanDuel: $4,000 DraftKings: $5,200).  Each of these three sluggers have an OPSgreater than 1.010 against right-handed pitching.

You willalso want to target Robinson Chirinos (FanDuel: $3,000 DraftKings: $4,400),Jake Marisnick (FanDuel: $2,400 DraftKings: $4,900), Carlos Correa (FanDuel: $4,100DraftKings: $5,200) and Aledmys Diaz (FanDuel: $3,300 DraftKings: $4,500).These four Astros all have ISOs greater than .200 against righties in 2019.

Minnesota Twins

The Twinshave been red hot over the last week. In the last seven days the Minnesotaoffense has a .307 batting average and a .230 team ISO. With the Twins facing theAngels’ Matt Harvey tonight, there is no reason to believe the Twins’ bats cooltonight.

Harvey ownsa 5.07 SIERA and has a below league average 17% K rate. You want to attack theAngels’ starter with left-handed bats. Harvey is allowing a .395 wOBA, 1.89HR/9 and a 55.9% hard contact versus lefty batters in 2019.

So, as youbuild your Twins’ stack you are looking at guys like Jason Castro (FanDuel: $3,200DraftKings: $4,100), Jorge Polanco (FanDuel: $4,200 DraftKings: $4,700), MaxKepler (FanDuel: $3,600 DraftKings: $4,100) and Eddie Rosario (FanDuel: $4,200 DraftKings:$4,600). The Twinkies’ lefty foursome all have ISOs of at least .243 against right-handedpitching this season.

Good luckand happy stacking!

Every wise DFS player checks the weather before anything else and that’s particularly imperative at this time of the year. Two postponements yesterday shows just how ugly the forecasts have been recently and we have plenty more rain on this slate. In fact, over half of these games have projected rain in the forecast and that’s simply a disaster for us fantasy owners. While we don’t have the best idea of what will happen 24 hours from now, the cities and states you need to keep an eye on are as followed: New York, Minnesota, Washington, Chicago, Kansas City, Texas and Philly.

If you have any comments or questions, write me here or reach me on Twitter @Bartilottajoel.

Catcher:

J.T. Realmuto, PHI vs. DET

DK ($4,500)   FD ($3,200)

When picking catchers, I either pay up or punt the position. For this slate, it’s hard to fade a stud like Realmuto in such a quality matchup. What we really like about him here is the fact that he gets the platoon advantage against southpaw Daniel Norris. The lefties’ numbers are just awful, with Norris posting a 1.58 WHIP to go along with a .385 wOBA. His 3.93 ERA makes him look like he’s not too bad but his 5.31 FIP shows the sort of pitcher he’s truly been. All that puts the Phillies in play for a stack, as they’re projected to score five runs in their friendly home park. That’s why we love Realmuto and he’ll be right in the heart of this order.

Also Consider: Wilson Ramos is too good to be priced at $3,600 on DK and he shouldn’t have too many issues opposing Anthony DeSclafani.

First Base:

Jose Abreu, CWS vs. BAL

DK ($5,000)   FD ($4,100)

Abreu might be my favorite play on the board, as he’s one of the hottest hitters in the majors right now. Over the last eight games. Abreu is 17-for-35 at the plate while collecting five doubles, two homers, six runs and 14 RBI. That’s impossible production to argue with, especially considering he probably gets the best matchup on the board. In fact, Davis Hess owns a .439 xwOBA, which is simply one of the worst marks in the majors.

Also Consider: Rhys Hoskins is pricey but he’s definitely worth considering against lefty Daniel Norris.

Second Base:

Jose Altuve, HOU vs. MIN

DK ($4,500)   FD ($4,200)

Stacking Astros is going to be one of the best strategies on this slate, as they have too many righties for Martin Perez to navigate through. Perez has traditionally struggled with right-handed batters throughout his career, allowing a .318 AVG and an OPS approaching .900 over the last three years. That’s just what Altuve is looking for, as he enters this matchup in the midst of a 3-for-33 stretch. That terrible slump has lowered Altuve’s price to a number that we simply can’t fade, as he should be able to snap it here. So far this season, Altuve owns a 1.288 OPS against southpaws and many of those guys were way better than Perez.

Also Consider: Adam Frazier has been batting atop the Pirates order and should have success in a hitter’s park like Globe Life against a gas can like Shelby Miller.

Third Base:

Travis Shaw, MIL vs. COL

DK ($3,600)   FD ($2,500)

After a few high-end options, let’s go with a value play here. Shaw got off to a terrible start this season, but his power upside is hard to argue with. This is a guy who had at least 30 homers in back-to-back seasons while posting a .240 ISO in both those years. That power appears to be resurfacing recently, with Shaw hitting three homers and one double over his last seven games. Getting the platoon advantage against Antonio Senzatela is simply the icing on the cake, with Shaw posting a .522 SLG and .877 OPS against right-handers over the last three years.

Also Consider: Yuli Gurriel is incredibly cheap on both sites and gets the platoon advantage against Perez. Yoan Moncada is one of the biggest breakouts in the league and gets that brilliant matchup against Hess.

Shortstop:

Carter Kieboom, WSH vs. STL

DK ($3,800)   FD ($3,200)

Kieboom is one of the most touted prospects in the majors right now and early results are extremely promising. While his average has been lacking, Kieboom has two homers in his first four games. That really should be no surprise when you consider the fact that Kieboom posted a .258 ISO and .485 wOBA in the minors this season. Those are MVP-type peripherals and it shows just how much potential this kid has. Facing Miles Mikolas is not scary either, as his 6.04 FIP and 16.7 percent K-rate are numbers we want to exploit.

Also Consider: If you’re stacking Astros righties against Perez, it’s hard to overlook Carlos Correa.

Outfielders:

George Springer, HOU vs. MIN

DK ($5,200)   FD ($4,200)

Springer makes a beautiful two-man stack with Altuve, as I expect these guys to run rampant around the bases. Perez’ aforementioned splits speak for itself, as Springer should benefit by batting from the right side. He’s actually hot though, as Springer is averaging more than 10 DK points per game for the season while posting an OPS just shy of .900. Just like Altuve, Springer has made minced meat of southpaws throughout his career. In fact, Springer is posting a .906 OPS against lefties dating back to 2016.

J.D. Martinez, BOS vs. OAK

DK ($4,900)   FD ($4,000)

It’s strange not to see Martinez as one of the five-highest priced hitters, as he’s easily one of the top bats in the game. His .929 OPS speaks loudly but his peripherals indicate he should be even better. In fact, Martinez is one of the league leaders with a .448 xwOBA and a .648 xSLG. Those are absurd numbers and it simply means he’s hitting the crap out of the ball right now. Facing Mike Fiers should benefit any hitter too, as his 7.03 ERA and 1.51 WHIP says a lot about his recent struggles.

Gregory Polanco, PIT at TEX

DK ($4,300)   FD ($3,000)

Polanco is a personal favorite of mine and I believe this is the sort of matchup where he can get going. Hitting in Globe Life is a huge reason why, considering that ballpark ranks as the second-best hitter’s park in the majors. Getting to face a weak righty is huge too, with Polanco posting an .840 OPS against right-handers over the last two years. Shelby Miller is a righty we want to exploit, as his .419 xwOBA is a good indicator of his 7.52 ERA and 2.07 WHIP.

Also Consider: Mookie Betts has all the same advantages as Martinez but is actually a little bit cheaper. If you’re looking for someone below $4,000, Franmil Reyes has one of the highest xwOBA’s in the league and gets the platoon advantage against Max Fried. Not to mention, both of these guys combined for three dingers on Tuesday.

50. Trea Turner – From a pure hitting standpoint, Trea is very solid sporting a .344 OBP along with an average of .271. However, it is on the base paths where he really does his damage, stealing 43 bags last season and making him a very solid SS target on most slates.

49. Joey Gallo – Mr. HR or go home is always a nice GPP option with massive HR upside, but he can also strikeout 4 times and leave you dead in the water.

48. Justin Upton

47. Justin Smoak

46. Shin Soo-Choo – The platoon specialist SSC is always a solid option in DFS when he is facing off against right handers that struggle against lefties. However, we always have to factor in the element that he may only bat 2 or 3 times before being pinch hit for if the opponent pulls out a lefty reliever.

45. Kyle Schwarber – Although the strikeouts are a major issue, there is no denying the power and potential possessed by Schwarber.

44. Edwin Encarnacion

43. Cody Bellinger

42. Yasmani Grandal – As far as catchers go, Grandal is easily top 10, but he falls to #42 on my list of total hitters with a respectable .349 OBP and a .466 SLG performance in his 2018 campaign.

41. Ben Zobrist

40. Travis Shaw

39. Didi Gregorius – As someone who can really take advantage of the Yankee Stadium design, Didi is a promising target as he heads in to his age 29 season hoping to improve on his 27 HRs from last season by finally hitting the big 30 mark.

38. Tommy Pham

37. George Springer

36. Matt Olson – Coming off a solid season where he was 1 homer shy of 30, Olson returns to a pretty stacked A’s lineup that can pack a serious punch and should be a popular stack when they are facing gas cans that have a fly ball tendency.

35. Andrew McCutchen

34. Aaron Hicks

33. Andrew Benintendi – While I wanted to put him a bit higher, Benintendi can not yet quite call himself one of the top 25 bats in all of the MLB. Improving on his power will certainly get him there in 2019, especially given the juicy stolen base upside he possesses.

32. Joey Votto

31. Scooter Gennett

30. Jose Altuve – The Houston speedster narrowly edges out the 2 Great American Small Park sticks, mainly due to that stolen base upside. He also is more patient at the plate and struck out over 20 fewer times than Votto/Gennett and as long as he can stay healthy, it is tough to see him slowing down.

29. Anthony Rizzo

28. Nicholas Castellanos

27. Nelson Cruz – At the ripe young age of 38, Cruz just continues to get it done. Spanking an impressive 37 homers to boost his OPS to .850, one of the top 30 highest figures in all of the majors. It is fair to expect a slow down at some point, but assuming the production does not fall off a cliff, Cruz could still reach the 30 HR mark this season.

26. Charlie Blackmon

25. Giancarlo Stanton

24. Matt Chapman – A member of the low-key loaded Oakland A’s lineup (Which unfortunately just took a big hit with the Matt Olson injury), Chapman will look to break the 30-homer mark as he fell just 6 shy in the 2018 season.

23. Rhys Hoskins

22. Francisco Lindor

21. Michael Brantley – Two Clevelanders back to back on the list. Mr. Brantley is getting up there in age, but has shown that he still has plenty left in the tank. Sporting a respectable .832 OPS, Brantley boasts a low strikeout rate and a solid .300+ average, but will need to leave the park a lot more in 2019 to crack the top 20.

20. Miguel Andujar

19. David Peralta

18. Javier Baez – Javi had a very impressive 2018, a year in which he reached on 176 hits, made it around the bases 101 times, and also jacked up 34 homers. Not someone that we typically consider a major power hitter, Javi benefits from playing in Wrigley, especially when the wind is in our favor.

17. Jesus Aguilar

16. Eugenio Suarez

15. Xander Bogaerts – The X man did not have an amazing 2018, but it was certainly a strong one and his position on this list also has a lot to do with potential. Bogaerts is a player that goes on streaks – Both hot and cold. If he can steady his production he should be able to improve on his power, although he was a double hitting machine in the small Fenway Park last season.

14. Freddie Freeman

13. Matt Carpenter

12. Manny Machado – Mr. Money Bags Manny Machado signed a contract heard around the world late this offseason (At least until Trout said hold my beer). So, 2018 clearly was a good year for him to reach nearly a 4 digit OPS, along with 37 home runs and 188 hits which tied him for 3rd place in the majors.

11. Alex Bregman

10. Trevor Story

9. Paul Goldschmidt – Goldy was another streaking player in 2018, but when the dust settled he finds himself in the top 10 of many 2019 hitter lists. While the humidor is always a hot topic in Arizona, MLB’s PG still posted .533 SLG and 83 RBIs, although the strikeouts (173) were a major problem area that he will need to improve on.

8. Jose Ramirez

7. Nolan Arenado

6. Bryce Harper – The last of the 3 massive contract trio is the Home Run Derby hero Bryce Harper, who will be in Philly for the LONG haul. Although his OPS was a shade under 900 and his average left much to be desired, Bryce drew a ton of walks in 2018, and if pitchers will throw him hittable pitches at just a slightly higher rate, expect that 100 RBI figure to shoot up.

5. Khris Davis – Yet another A’s batter to make the list, Khris Davis just continues to get the job done each season. After nearly breaking the 100 run, 150 hit marks in 2018, Khris sneaks into my top 5 due to the whopping 48 dingers that he smacked in the 2018 season.

4. Christian Yelich – With a top 4 OPS in the entire MLB (and one of only 4 players that finished in 4 digits), it would be tough to leave Yelich out of any top 5 hitters list. However, that is exactly what plenty of top hitter rankings are doing heading in to 2019. Yelich is my sleeper top 5 hitter in the league for the 2019 season.

3. J.D. Martinez – There are a few players in the league that it feels like hit a home run at every one of their at-bats, and JDM is certainly in that group. While he did lose the HR race in 2018, he still ended up with 43 dingers, along with the 3rd highest OPS in the entire MLB. Playing half of his games in the friendly little confines of Fenway Park should lead to another amazing 2019 season for Martinez.

2. Mike Trout – It is crazy for me to put the hitter with the highest OPS in the league in 2nd place, but from a fantasy perspective that is what I must do. Trout is headed straight to the HOF, and his hitting numbers are up there with the all-time greats. He is one of the most complete MLB players that we may ever see, and should be in the top 2 of any best hitters list.

1. Mookie Betts – Did anyone really expect me to put Trout over the GOAT Mookie Betts? I know I am in the minority here but hear me out. Yes, Trout does have a better OBP than Mookie, but many would be surprised to hear that Mookie actually has a higher SLG AND AVG than the all-star Angel. He also has the speed edge, reaching the coveted 30 SB mark in 2018, while almost never striking out, and winning that whole World Series thing. Mookie Betts is my #1 hitter for the 2019 MLB season. Go Sox!
