The 20th and 3rd to last race of the year commence at the Autódromo Hermanos Rodríguez in Mexico City, Mexico. The quick 2.7-mile lap requires grip in the turns, and a sturdy back end (phrasing) to push to the top levels. This circuit is about feeling. Car control. We are going to need some value to get to the sharp-end drivers, so let’s discuss this in this week’s edition of Formula 1: Race Week Mexico.

Formula 1: DFS Top Captain Options

Max Verstappen, Red Bull Racing $19,500

It might be teammate Sergio Perez’s home race, but it’s Max Verstappen’s 2022 domination tour. We are set once again for Max to lead us away from the grid when the lights go out on Sunday afternoon. This Red Bull is just pure class. Mexico can be a tricky circuit, like I had said earlier, feel…well who needs “feel” when you can just take a sledgehammer to the track and dominate the way Max’s Red Bull does?! Max was 66% owned last week in the F1 $50k Grand Prix, 39.23% at Captain. It’s Max’s race to lose and I like those ownership percentages from last week, and I will duplicate those in my lineups this week.

Formula 1: DFS Contrarian Captain Options

George Russell Mercedes $12,900 George had a lap on hand that could have put him on the pole until he encountered trouble and drove off the track, ruining his lap and pole shot. However, the Mercedes has been sharp this weekend. The Mercedes pair of George Russell, Lewis Hamilton, and even the Merc in the constructor position are very lively this weekend. 40% seems to classify as “chalk” in F1 DFS and it’s safe to say, Lewis, George, and Mercedes will carry chalk levels of ownership. I think I’ll join that party.

For a true contrarian play, give Valterri Bottas, Alfa Romeo $9000, a shot. Even if you don’t want to take the risk of Valterri in the captain spot, he still makes for a good play this weekend. His Alfa Romeo has found itself in the top 10 after qualifying, in P6, and looks like it is taking to this circuit very well. Valtteri can be somewhat of a risk, so tread lightly.

Sergio Perez Red Bull $15,900 Checo Perez is in the sister Red Bull and this is Sergio’s home race. I’ll have a few shares with at least one in the captain position. Can’t hurt to try.

Formula 1: DFS Mid Tier options

Lewis Hamilton $10,000 Mercedes has been the second-best car in Mexico, as the Ferraris looked and sound like they were struggling to put the power down to the wheels. With their struggles Lewis took full advantage in FP3 and later on in qualifying, qualifying P3. If incidents occur in front of him, I’m sure Lewis will be trying for his first win this season.

Lando Norris $7600 McLaren Starting in his usual back end of the top 10, P8 this week, Lando is a fine option. I think his ownership will be suppressed as he is not easy to fit him into DK lineups. If you’re playing multiple lines, have at least one Lando, he’s a shoo-in for double-digit fantasy points.

Fernando Alonso Alpine $7000 rounding out the top 10 of the grid, Fernando finds himself in P9. The Alpine has not looked great overall this weekend. They might have maxed out for qualifying, so I might be a little thin on this play.

Formula 1: DFS Other options

Esteban Ocon Alpine $5400, the same as Alonso, but he’s inexpensive at $5400 and has been a consistent scorer.

Formula 1: DFS Value 5-point options

Alex Albon Williams $4200 Albon’s Williams looked very fast this weekend, and he could have made it into Q2 to qualify better if he had not gotten caught out by some wind. He makes for a great value.

Yuki Tsunoda Alphatauri $3200 is cheap, tends to be popular at 20%, and rounds out a lineup nicely. This week the Alphatauri has been a sharp car. He’s warranted for a few rosters.

DFS Constructor options

  • Mercedes $10,100 Fingers crossed for a double podium finish for the Mercs.
  • Red Bull Racing $12,600 The class of the field.
  • Alfa Romeo, for the longest of shots that makes sense! $3500…but think of the savings!
  • Alpha Tauri $3300, tHe SaViNgS! see Alfa Romeo’s notes above.
  • Ferrari $11,200 The constructor position is the value spot in F1 DFS and with both cars finishing in the top 10, Ferrari always scores well.

Race Week Mexico Grand Prix DFS overall strategy

This race is nice because it tends to be action-packed and the atmosphere makes it fun to watch. I think I will be trying to play around more with different top constructors and Max in the captain spot for the majority of my lineups.

It’s finally here. Football and Formula 1. The formula 1 grid finds itself in the lone star state this weekend for the United States Grand Prix at COTA. After winning the championship last week in Suzuka, Max Verstappen and 19 other top drivers will try to conquer the windy, technical, and wide-open Circuit of the Americas.

Formula 1: DFS Top Captain Options

Max Verstappen, Red Bull Racing $19,200

The 2022 World Champion starts in P2 and can easily run down Carlos Sainz in race pace, a sight familiar to all Formula 1 watches this year, as the Ferrari loves to take the pole but not convert the top spot into a win.

Formula 1: DFS Contrarian Options

Carlos Sainz $16,800 Ferrari With his fellow Ferrari teammate starting in P12 after taking grid penalties, Carlos Jr. finds himself with this Ferrari first on the grid. Carlos has been known to make mistakes under pressure, but if he can survive the race start, his Ferrari is just as fast as Max, and I could see him contending for the win.

Lewis Hamilton $15,300 Mercedes When the proverbial “they” say there are horses for courses, they were talking about Lewis Hamilton at COTA. The dude loves this track. Mercedes has brought upgrades specifically for this race and Lewis and teammate George Russel are set to reap the benefits. I also think Mercedes’s $10,300 is a fantastic pay-up option for the constructor position.

Formula 1: DFS Mid Tier options

George Russell $8400 as previously mentioned Mercedes has a car worthy of the fight this weekend. George has been second fiddle this weekend to Lewis but is just as capable as anyone of holding position or gain spots.

Sergio Perez $9800, starting in P9 won’t matter that much when you pilot the fastest car on the grid. Expect Sergio to gain places and fight for the podium. Fitting in George or Sergio would be difficult, so using either of them in a large field GPP makes a lot of sense.

Aston Martin drivers, Seb Vettel $6000, and Lance Stroll $4400 The Aston Martin has taken to this track so well this weekend. Finishing Free Practice 3 in 8th and 9th, qualifying in P10 and P5 respectively. Seb has a history of running into trouble here at COTA, but using the Astons as value pieces will probably be a popular move this afternoon.

Formula 1: DFS Other options

Lando and Fernando, they should start a band, are always worthy of roster allocation. The problem is their price. Also, the McLaren looks a little off this weekend, and Fernando starts outside the top 10. Which could be interesting to use as a contrarian piece with overtaking upside.

Pierre Gasly $5600 Alpha Tauri Pierre seems to remain within a few spots of 10th, whether it be practice results or qualifying. A worthy value option.

Another Value option is Valterri Bottas $5200 Valterri came out the gate on fire this season, then cooled off tremendously throughout the season. Another person who races COTA well and a car with upgrades, give me some Valterri for my DK lineups.

Formula 1: DFS Value 5-point options

Albon‘s $4000 makes him a great value.

KMag $4800 Mick looks off this weekend. KMag can take advantage.

DFS Constructor options

  • Mercedes $10,300 Fingers crossed for a double podium finish for the Mercs.
  • Red Bull Racing $12,000 The class of the field, lots of controversy around Red Bull, RIP Dietrich. What better way to remind your “competition” that you are the best than dominating at COTA
  • Aston Martin $4600, come on double point finish!
  • Alfa, for the longest of shots that makes sense! $3100…but think of the savings!

Race Week US Grand Prix DFS overall strategy

I need to get more booze for this race. COTA is a fun one, especially with football on as well. Just have fun with this one and let’s watch some excellent racing.

It is the 18th edition of Formula 1 Race Week. This week the F1 circus finds itself on the island nation of Japan, at the Suzuka International Circuit. A curvy 3 mile lap with no brakes…its like a bad pickup line. But I digress, Suzuka tends to lead to very entertaining races as simple mistakes ruin drivers races. So lets strap into our 5 point harness and discuss DFS options for the Japanese Grand Prix.

Formula 1: DFS Top Captain Options

Max Verstappen, Red Bull Racing $18,600

Max can clinch his 2nd world championship this weekend if he finishes on the top spot, the spot he is starting from, Leclerc behind and the fastest lap. Considering how absurdly confident the Red Bull team is going about its business this weekend, wrap it up, the championship is Max’s. Max will be my captain this weekend in all my lineups.

Formula 1: DFS Contrarian Options

Charles Leclerc $11,200, Carlos Sainz $9000 Ferrari One of the main reasons this season has been copy and paste for the Top Captain options featured in this article is due to a phenomenon we’re seeing a lot in the 2022 season; the top 3 drivers are well within .001 seconds of each other. One mistake can take a top contender and have them finish 4 spots down. Suzuka qualifying expressed this one again. The Ferrari drivers are well within the margin of .1 seconds. If Max missteps, Charles and Carlos Sainz are right there to take advantage. This also makes Ferrari, $11,300 a top option for the constructor position.

Sergio Perez Red Bull Racing $13,200 This is racing, random stuff happens. Sergio starts P4 and if rain, mistakes or random racing luck happens, a sprinkle in the captain spot for your DFS lineups could work out nicely.

Formula 1: DFS Mid Tier options

Lando Norris McLaren $8000

Lando and McLaren are constantly nipping at the heels of the top teams. This week the McLaren looks off the pace as it brings up the rear of the top 10.

Fernando Alonso $7000, Esteban Ocon $5600 Alpine Esteban starts in P5 with Alonso in P8. It is difficult to overtake here and Fernando is famous for getting his elbows out wide. The issue for Alpine is that they qualify so well, than fall apart in the race. Roster worthy, but comes with a risk. Alpine showed more pace than the Mercedes team though, so good things can happen.

Sebastian Vettel $6000 Aston Martin Vettel loves this track, as he is set to retire from F1 this weekend, it was pretty obvious he has a special place in his heart for Suzuka. I think the team will do everything in their power to help him get as high as he can on the grid. I also like Seb in a captain position if you are willing to take the risk in one of your DraftKings lineups.

Formula 1: DFS Other options

If you are willing to get wild with your lineups, try having one of the Mercedes’ drivers in a lineup. Id prefer Lewis over George due to Lewis starting in P6 to George’s P8. The “issue” I have with Merc is that they find themselves in no mans land. Not fast enough for the top position, but not valuable enough (for DFS) to garner significant ownership. A sprinkle candidate for a random lineup, for sure.

Formula 1: DFS Value 5-point options

Haas‘ drivers aren’t split up enough. They start P15, P18. I will overlook them as a priority, but if you land on either as a last man in option, I would not be to upset.

Albon‘s $4600 permanent position in this article. His teammate Latifi will be off the grid next year so soak up the Albon value now.

Tsunoda Stating in P13 and as his home race, having Yuki in a lineup is not a bad option. Pierre, his teammate, starts in P17 and has not looked to sharp.

DFS Constructor options

  • Ferrari $11,300 Both drivers in the top 3.
  • Red Bull Racing $12,000 The class of the field, Max is nipping at championship #2
  • Alpine $5100 Probably the best value constructor option.

Race Week Japanese Grand Prix DFS overall strategy

It’s Suzuka so there is always a chance of rain. The 53 laps could be under damp conditions and the teams whom are best at identifying and reacting are going to perform well. This worries me for the value options though as we can see teams gambling and getting it completely wrong, like what Mercedes did with George Russell in Singapore.

Personally I love the Japanese Grand Prix, the fans always make this a spectacle to watch. It is like they cosplay race drivers, its so different! The race goes live at 11pm MST, which always makes me happy being the only person in a crowded bar screaming “It’s lights out, and away we go!!”

Welcome to the 17th edition of Formula 1 Race Week: Singapore Grand Prix, October 2022.

Singapore plays host to the 17th race this year. With 61 3 mile long laps with long straits and heavy breaking zones.

Qualifying was slightly hampered by rain, which always leads to a very interesting grid. Lets find some plays for our DFS lineups.

Formula 1: DFS Top Captain Options

Max Verstappen, Red Bull Racing $18,600

Starting in P8 after some interesting developments during his final qualifying lap. The Red Bull is the class of the field and Max can win his 2nd drivers championship this weekend. He should be able to pass the cars in front of him and run away with the championship, but Red Bull has been a little bit off this weekend. If I am playing multiple lineups Max should be a heavily owned captain option.

Lewis Hamilton, Mercedes $15000

Heading into the weekend there was a thought that this Singapore circuit would benefit Mercedes. With a narrow circuit, long straits and heavy braking like I mentioned before, this track would help hide Mercedes’ weaknesses. Lewis can win this weekend from P3, his teammate starting in P11 helps lewis potential maximize his DK points as well.

Charles Leclerc $16,800 The Ferrari looked great in the hands of Charles, and Carlos to be honest. Carlos Sainz $13, 800 is just as much in contention as Charles is. Carlos starts in P4, putting Ferrari as the constructor a strong play as well.

Sergio Perez Red Bull Racing $13,200 puts Red Bull Racing constructor into play as he starts in P2. Of Course, Sergio can win this race as well.

Formula 1: DFS Mid Tier options

Lando Norris McLaren $7600

Lando and Mclaren are constantly nipping at the heels of the top teams. In a tight battle with Alpine for the 4th constructor position, Lando has been amongst the quickest cars over the weekend. Riccirado starts in P17 which really helps boost Lando’s DK position.

Fernando Alonso $7000 Alpine is also helped by his teammate, Esteban Ocon starting in P18. Fernando just like Lando should be in position to maximize DK points.

Alphatauri $3400 ended up being the best of the lower rung teams after qualifying. With both drivers starting in the top 10, they should make for solid options as long as they stay in their positions, however if there was one car that looked better in the wet conditions was the AT.

Haas‘ drivers aren’t far off though, so I might end up rotating through the 4 drivers and 2 teams as yellow flags and issues in general are not far away on this Singapore circuit.

Formula 1: DFS Other options

The aforementioned Magnussen $3200 Haas and his teammate Mick Schumacher $4000 line up behind Alphatauri whom have demonstrated an inability to stay up front on race day.

Formula 1: DFS Value 5-point options

Magnussen $3200 I have K-Mag in here twice as I don’t think there is much value overall this weekend. Therefore using K-mag as a last guy in option makes a ton of sense.

Tsunoda, again with a lack of value overall, Yuki makes the article twice. $3600 in P10 is to good, sprinkling him into lineups if playing multiple lines helps finish making a lineup.

DFS Constructor options

  • Ferrari $11,200 Both drivers in the top 3.
  • Red Bull Racing $11,900 The class of the field, Max is nipping at championship #2
  • Alphatauri $3700 Alpha has the strange knack for qualifying well, but then falling apart in the race, trade lightly with this play.
  • Haas $3400 if Alphatauri does AT things and falls apart, Haas could realistically see a double points finish.

Race Week Singapore Grand Prix DFS overall strategy

With a wet qualifying we had a fun session to watch. The drivers said they had plenty of grip, so I think we saw the odd wet quali that was more true to form than not. The Ferrrari drivers look really good, so overlooking them might be at your own peril. The circuit is tough to overtake as well which really plays into the Ferrari’s hands.

If you have questions please feel free to hit me up in discord @tcuz86, or on Twitter @tcuz86. Have fun and thanks for reading Formula 1: Race Week Singapore Grand Prix, October 2022.

Welcome to the 16th edition of Formula 1 Race Week: Italian Grand Prix, September 2022.

Imola, the Temple of Speed, in northern Bologna, Italy plays host to this week’s race. Ferrari wants this win as they celebrate 75 years in the sport; in front of their faithful Tifosi fans. With multiple divers on the grid facing penalties, the starting grid is as good as Ferrari could hope for.

With grid penalties, driver changes, and more randomness let me help break down the grid starting with…

Formula 1: DFS Top Captain Options

Max Verstappen, Red Bull, $18,300

Max starts P7 after penalties have been assessed. He should make short work of all the runners in front of him not named Charles Leclerc.

Charles Leclerc, Ferrari, $16,500

With the crowd and Ferrari tradition behind him, Charles is leading the pack when the lights go out on Sunday. There are talks that the Ferrari engine is being turned up for maximum power. As a result, reliability might be an issue. Therefore I would caution Charles backers to tread lightly.

I am having a hard time finding other Captain options as the grid is really screwy. We have 2 Williams in the top 10, don’t tell me this grid is not weird.

Formula 1: DFS Mid Tier options

Lando Norris, McLaren $7800

Lando would be the next driver to be truly a captain option. However, I do not have the confidence in McLaren to put him there. Due to this fact, I think McLaren has the potential for being the best value for the constructor. Lando has the best opportunity to score the 3rd or 4th most maximum DraftKings points.

George Russell, Mercedes, $9800

George starts right behind Charles in P2. I would have George over Lando if the Mercedes hasn’t been one of the slowest cars all weekend. George was slower than teammate Lewis Hamilton but was promoted four grid spots due to penalties. Therefore, I think the best George Russell’s Mercedes can hope for is a P3 finish.

Pierre Gasly, Alphatauri, $6200

Pierre is an interesting case study this weekend. I think he is a gamble in the truest sense of the word. The Alphatauri (including Yuki’s) has been a top 3 car in speed this weekend. A couple of factors are working against Pierre, the McLarens in front of him, and the drivers behind him, mainly Max. If Pierre can overtake Danny Ricciardo, I can see Pierre finishing as high as p4. With the cars behind him, he could finish on the cusp or just outside the points. Due to his volatility, I will have a sprinkle of Pierre in my DK lineups.

Fernando Alonso, Alpine, $7200

Alonso was pushed up to start in p6. If the Alpine knows one thing to do is to score points. Consequently, I will have some Fernando Alonso in my lineups.

Sergio Perez, Carlos Sainz, Esteban Ocon, and Lewis Hamilton all incurred grid penalties. The only one that was not in Q3 was Esteban Ocon. The other 3 drivers are starting in grid positions that can put them in a position to overtake cars. Especially Carlos Sainz and Sergio Perez. As a result, I don’t see these 4 drivers beating their respective teammates; however, I can see them overtaking positions and scoring top 10 finishing points.

Formula 1: DFS Other options

Zhou Guanyu $3800 Alfa Romeo

Alfa was Alpha in Free practice 2. The Ferrari-powered machine was at the top of the speed charts. If Zhou can finish in the points, he would be amazing value.

Formula 1: DFS Value 5-point options

Nick de Vries $3400. Nick replaces Alex Albon this weekend who has appendicitis. Nick almost made it into Q3 but made a mistake that cost him his lap. Nick finds himself in a very interesting position this weekend. He’s piloting a Williams that has shown top straight line speed all weekend and starts ahead of his teammate. In short, I will have my shares of de Vries in DK.

DFS Constructor options

  • Red Bull, $12,100 even though they are down on the starting grid, I could see a world where the Red Bulls end up P1 and P2.
  • Ferrari, $11,100 fingers crossed the Ferrari engine holds up, and the Ferrari brass don’t screw up and send the Tifosi home mad. If you like Ferrari, pair it with Charles and go from there.
  • McLaren, $5100 Starting at the sharp end of the grid and a quick car to boot, I like the McLaren as a value constructor this weekend.
  • Alphatarui, $3400 I can not over look how quick the Honda…errr, RedBull Powertrain engines are this weekend. Even with Yuki starting dead last, In my sprinkle of Pierre line up, I will use Alphatauri and see if I can put the out of position drivers in there as well.

Race Week Italian Grand Prix DFS overall strategy

Penalties really shook this grid up. I will be leaning more on the teams that have shown outright speed as overtaking can be difficult around Monza. I think the speedy teams will be able to overtake on track or undercut their competitors and get track position in the pits.

If you have questions please feel free to hit me up in discord @tcuz86, or on Twitter @tcuz86. Have fun and thanks for reading Formula 1: Race Week Italian Grand Prix, September 2022.

Welcome to the 16th edition of Formula 1 Race Week: Dutch Grand Prix, September 2022 and happy Labor Day weekend.

Sunday DFS day of racing starts with Formula 1 on the Zandvoort, Netherlands circuit. A vastly different track compared to Spa. Zandvoort is a shorter track with more technical corners and lower overall straight line speed.

For our DFS purposes, the Dutch Grand Prix will feature more diverse winning lineup combinations. The Mercedes duo are in play this week. Certain midfield teams are producing, others not so much.

Here in this weeks edition of Formula 1 Race Week, let me help make the field clear and set some DFS lineups, featuring…

Formula 1: DFS Top Captain Options

Max Verstappen, Red Bull, $18,000

Zandvoort is a vastly different track compared to Spa, but what doesn’t change is Max’s super quick Red Bull. Last week he showed what he can do starting from the back of the grid, to get to P1 by the 13th lap and go for another Sunday cruise to victory lane. The field is closer this week (as Charles Leclerc has behind Max by .021 seconds) but they will all start behind 2021 Champ, Max Verstappen. Pole position matters a lot at Zandvoort.

Charles Leclerc, Ferrari, $16,800

Charles was fastest in the first 2 sectors of his qualifying lap, but lost out to Max in sector 3.

Sergio Perez, Red Bull, $13,800

The Red Bull is aerodynamically superior to the rest of the field, as Sergio was just a few mph faster than Max. Sergio spun in the later minutes of Q3 which negated his chance of starting closer to the top. However, over taking should not be a problem for Sergio Perez, and others overtaking the best car on the grid is highly unlikely.

Formula 1: DFS Mid Tier options

Mercedes $10,000

The Merc drivers, Lewis Hamilton $10,000, and George Russell $8600 lead the mid-tier options in my opinion. Mercedes is in the mix this weekend as both Lewis and George ran well all weekend, and did not get to show their strengths in qualifying due to Sergio’s spin.

Lando Norris $7200 benefits from his teammate not making it out of Q1. Ricciardo is pressing, and its starting to show. Lando stands to benefit and be helpful to our DFS lines.

Formula 1: DFS Other options

Mick Schumacher, $3800, Haas looks to be quick around Zandvoort. He finds himself in the mix with Aston Martin and McLaren.

Lance Stroll $4600 has been getting the most out of his Aston Martin the past few races. The car has improved and Stroll finds himself in a top 10 position.

Formula 1: DFS Constructor options

  • Red Bull’s $12,000 With the top car on the grid, the Red Bull should be in majority of DFS F1 Constructor positions.
  • Ferrari, $11,500 In lock step with Red Bull, I will have my fair share of Ferrari, drivers and constructors.
  • Alpha Tauri $3200 I like how my lineups look with Alpha Tauri in the constructors spot. It does not hurt either that they are preforming well around the Zandvoort circuit.
  •

Formula 1: Race Week Dutch Grand Prix DFS overall strategy

Zandvoort does not look like it will feature a ton of overtakes. So I will be playing light this Sunday. Furthermore, there’s a lot of obvious value so fitting in the top runners is kind of straightforward, which is nice as there are a few to choose from. In terms of the value plays, I do have some teammate hedges in bigger tournaments but am pretty much sticking to the qualifying grid.

If you have questions please feel free to hit me up in discord @tcuz86, or on Twitter @tcuz86. Have fun and thanks for reading Formula 1: Race Week Dutch Grand Prix, September 2022.

Welcome to the 14th edition of Formula 1 Race Week: Belgium Grand Prix, August 2022.

After a month off, F1 returns to the often rain-soaked, but always legendary Spa-Francorchamps. Spa is a long circuit, the longest on the calendar, with 44, 4.3-mile long race laps. Top speed is everything here as it’s fairly easy to overtake.

Over 7 contenders have taken grid penalties for changes to their cars, which will impact DFS lines tremendously.

Speaking of DFS…

Formula 1: DFS Top Captain Options

Max Verstappen, Red Bull, $18,000

Spa was made for the Red Bull; Max might overtake 14 cars tomorrow, beat his teammate, and lead laps. He will be popular on DK, and I will be right there with the rest of the field.

Carlos Sainz, Ferrari $15,000

Carlos starts on the pole and if he can keep it on the track a race victory is very much in play.

Sergio Perez, Red Bull, $12,900

Sergio has been the pilot of the second-best car on the grid this weekend. There is not much to say for Sergio other than he can overtake Carlos at any time, and defend against the drivers behind him quite well. He will be tough to fit in, but worthy of a roster if you can get creative with the pieces around him.

Charles Leclerc, Ferrari, $17,400

Leclerc finds himself with Verstappen at the back of the pack. Being in the second-best car on the grid, he should be able to follow Max through the field and beat his teammate. Fitting both into a lineup will be tough, but in a GPP it’s well worth it to try.

Formula 1: DFS Mid Tier options

Mercedes $9900

The Merc drivers, Lewis Hamilton $10,400, and George Russell $9400 lead the mid-tier options in my opinion. Mercedes is the 3rd best constructor in the field and Hamilton and Russell should be able to hold their positions. Mercedes does not have much to lose so they tend to gamble more than most teams, with a grid like the one on Sunday, they are worthy of a roster spot or two.

Fernando Alonso, $7000, Alpine

Once again an Alpine finds its way into a possibility list. Fernando starts in P3 and is always a tough veteran to pass. Inspired to show his team how much Fernando has left in his tank, Fernando could easily play spoiler to the field.

McLaren $5300

Lando Norris $7400 and Daniel Ricciardo $5200 for different reasons, both McLaren drivers look like interesting DFS plays. Lando fits into the Max/Charles narrative, starting p18 but has been a top 6 car in the practice sessions this weekend.

Daniel starts in P7 and is accompanied by the likes of Pierre Gasly and Lance Stroll. Daniel has a perfect opportunity here to stick it to his soon-to-be former team in McLaren and remind them who he is.

Last, but certainly not least, the man of the weekend…Alex Albon. Albon, $4200 tends to be a staple in the value portion of this article as he is better than his teammate Nicholas Latifi. He still very much is, but the Williams has been the fastest car in the first sector at Spa and Albon has repeatedly found his name in the top 5 in practice this weekend. A word of caution for this play in DFS however, Alex has sharks ahead of him and has the top dogs coming from behind him. Alex could easily lose places, but at $4200 he makes sense.

Formula 1: DFS Other options

Aston Martin $3300

Stroll $4000 and Vettel $5000 make for interesting punt plays this weekend…as well as their constructor. They Aston tends to show up in race pace on Sunday, so filling them in as “last man in” options doesn’t feel too bad. I would like them more if the weather gets bad, it is supposed to be calm and sunny, but Spa is located in the Ardennes Forest which if you’re a sucker for history, you will know how weather impacts this part of the world.

Formula 1: DFS Value 5-point options

Magnussen $4400 Mick, Magnussen’s teammate has looked poor this weekend, at $4400 K-Mag could be useful for 5 points.

Zhou $3200 Bottas missed the majority of practice on Friday and his car looked like it had issues over the entire weekend. If Valtteri retires, Zhou could easily pay off his $3200 price tag.

Formula 1: DFS Constructor options

  • Red Bull’s $12,000 Spa is their race to lose, either Sergio dominating from the front, or Max coming from the back, the Red Bull should dominate this race.
  • Ferrari, $11,800 Carlos on pole, Charles starting in the back. Identical possibilities as Red Bull and a few $100 cheaper.
  • Aston Martin $3300, might be a long shot, but you can do some wonders with a $3000, the bare minimum constructor in your DraftKings lines.
  • Williams $3000 just like Aston, no risk it, no biscuit.

Formula 1: Race Week Hungarian Grand Prix DFS overall strategy

I’ll be shocked if the DFS wins feature a lot of duplicate lineups, as this field is so jumbled. We can take advantage in GPPs by sticking to a core group of drivers and rotating around them. Another option is to stick your flag into a race result and build from there.

All in all, Spa tends to be filled with overtakes and weather calls. A rain shower could really through this race on its head, lets’s see what happens come Sunday morning.

Welcome to the 12th edition of Formula 1 Race Week: Hungarian Grand Prix, July 2022.

Budapest, Hungary plays host to the 13th race of the year. A race in which Esteban Ocon lead all 65 laps last year. This race track is set up well to the strengths of the Ferrari with lots of slow-speed corners and only one straight. It’s a drag race to turn 1 and if pole sitter George Russell can get away clean, he has a chance to replicate Ocon’s performance from last year.

There is a bit of a shake-up amongst the top runners. George Russell finds himself on pole after Max Verstappen had engine problems, and George put together a top-notch lap, nudging out his teammate Lewis and the Ferrari pair. If he can stay ahead after turn 1 he can be in contention for the race win.

Formula 1: DFS Top Captain Options

George Russell, Mercedes $12,600

With George leading the pack from the starting grid he has a chance at the whole shot and cruising to a race victory. Budapest tends to be narrow with a lot of corners, so it can be difficult to pass. Let’s see if George can take advantage.

Max Verstappen, Red Bull $18000

Max finds himself in P10 after having issues on the last bit of qualifying. He has been in the top 2 all weekend on single lap pace, and top 5 in race pace. If you’re playing multiple fantasy lineups in DraftKings, having Max as captain makes sense. When Max has a functioning car, he’s a top driver.

Either Ferrari ($11,700) drivers

Charles Leclerc $17,100 Leclerc has been the other top driver all weekend…outside of qualifying for pole anyway. Charles has been getting the best out of his Ferrari which looks like a perfect race car to drive on the Budapest circuit. The Ferrari is very capable of putting George under pressure and taking the top spot, I would not put a race victory outside the hands of Charles this weekend.

If I am playing one lineup, Charles would be my captain.

Carlos Sainz Jr $15,300 There is not much to say about Carlos, other than he would be a contrarian Captain choice with every chance of beating his teammate and George Russell. I think Charles Leclerc’s driving style is more conducive to Budapest, but the sister Ferrari piloted by Carlos Sainz is no more than 0.3 seconds from Charles.

Carlos fits in nicely as well with George in the captain spot and Ferrari in the constructor position.

Formula 1: DFS Mid Tier options

Lando Norris McLaren $7400

Lando and Mclaren are constantly nipping at the heels of the top teams. In a tight battle with Alpine for the 4th constructor position, Lando has been amongst the quickest cars over the weekend, never being more than 0.5 seconds off the leader. I like Lando a lot this weekend, he would be a priority over Alonso for my DK lines.

Alpine $5800

As Lando is the guy for McLaren, the Alpine duo is right behind him on the starting grid, in positions 5 and 6. If Daniel Ricciardo P10, McLaren, could get his car towards the sharp end of the grid, we would have a top battle for the construction leader of the midfield.

That being said, the Alpines of Esteban Ocon $5800 and Fernando Alonso $7000 are in a position to score maximum points this weekend. If you can fit them into a DK line (not together of course) splitting them for the top 10 finish and beat teammate points makes a lot of sense. Thus making Alpine $5800 my choice for the value constructor of the weekend.

Aston Martin $3000

Sebastian Vettel $4800, Lance Stroll $3800 The Aston is a peculiar race team, they seem to be nowhere all weekend than boom, p10 when the race is over. The Aston has shown speed and pace this weekend in Budapest, with cheap price tags all around for Aston, I’m taking a shot with them both in my multiple lineups, and id advise you to do the same, limited of course.

Formula 1: DFS Other options

Valtteri Bottas $6600 Alfa Romeo

The Alfa wasn’t showing much all weekend until I analyzed the long-run race pace. Valtteri was within 0.5 seconds from Sergio Perez who himself was the 3rd fastest long run driver. Just like Aston, having a few shots with Valtteri in some lineups might not be so bad.

Formula 1: DFS Value 5-point options

Alex Albon $4000 is always feisty and will fight for your 5 points and Latifi being terrible doesn’t hurt.

Magnussen $4200 K-Mag has been quicker than his teammate all weekend. There are other options down in this price range, but K-Mag is not a bad “last man in” option.

Zhou $3200 Zhou Guanyu was right there with Valtteri in long run pace, at $3200, he makes for a very good cheap option.

DFS Constructor options

  • Ferrari $11,700 Both drivers in the top 3 without the Red bull breathing down their neck, might be a godsend for the Scuderia this weekend.
  • Mercedes $9600 George on pole, Lewis in p6 a good option for sure.
  • Alpine $5800 p5 and p6, $3800 cheaper than Mercedes…count me in.
  • McLaren $5500 there are some good options for constructor this week, count the McLaren in the same company.
  • Aston Martin $3000, might be a long shot, but you can do some wonders with a $3000, the bare minimum constructor in your DraftKings lines.

Race Week Hungarian Grand Prix DFS overall strategy

Qualifying shook up the grid. There are quite a few options this weekend that all make a lot of sense. If you are playing a single entry going with a balanced lineup is logical and if you are playing multiple lines getting a little wild can always be fun.

Welcome to the 12th edition of Formula 1 Race Week: French Grand Prix, July 2022.

We are halfway through the Formula 1 season entering this weekend. The battle towards the sharp end of the grid is clearly between Charles LeClerc of Ferrari and Max Verstappen of Red Bull.

Paul Ricard circuit is familiar to all the F1 drivers with 53, 3.6-mile laps. The circuit has both slow technical corners like Bendor, Pont, and Hotel, corners in which the Ferrari performs well. Mixed with long straights where the Red Bull shows its top speed dominance, hitting top speeds of 204 mph.

Even though it’s the usual suspects at the sharp end of the grid, there is some shakeup in Carlos Sainz starting from the back. If you’re playing multiple lineups, having a Sainz line or two makes complete sense as he should be able to overtake 10 spots for 5 DK points.

Formula 1: DFS Top Captain Options

Max Verstappen, Red Bull $18000

Max has the added benefit of his teammate Sergio Perez starting behind him in P3. The Mercedes of Lewis Hamilton just does not have the speed to compete with these three, so we should probably see a Red Bull Racing $11,900 top 3 podium finish.

Charles Leclerc $16,800 Charles starts in P1 on Sunday. He has both Red Bulls starting behind him which is probably not very comforting. Ferrari’s top strategist tends to struggle when dictating races, so I’m worried about Charles in this race.

Formula 1: DFS Mid Tier options

Sergio Perez $9000 starts in P3. he might not be a top captain choice, but he still makes for a good prospect to end up on the podium. What the field is going to do is going to dictate how good of a play Sergio is. You cant fit Max, Charles, and Red Bull in the same DraftKings lineup, so does the field drop-down to Mercedes? no. not enough salary left over. The most valuable constructor would be McLaren $5600 but then you would have to play Latifi (who has only beaten his teammate once) and Zhou. A stars and scrubs build. You have options, if you want to hear my final thoughts, join the discord chat and let’s discuss.

Mercedes

The Mercs are the 3rd fastest manufacturer. Putting George Russell at $8400 and Lewis Hamilton at $10,200 in the top 10 finishing position almost all season. They both do feel slightly thin as DK plays. I would not prioritize either, but as I’m playing multiple lines, I’ll probably have a sprinkle of either one.

Lando Norris $7600 is constantly in no mans land. He’s starting P5 in between the Mercedes duo. His price tag makes him so difficult to play though. He would be worthy of a contrarian play as forcing him into a lineup would naturally take you away from the chalky field.

Esteban Ocon $5800. Fellow Alpine driver, Fernando Alonso, has had some bad luck in race trim all season. he reminds me of the Alpha Tauri’s which are great in one-lap trim but put them in race form and they fall apart. This is Esteban’s home race so if Fernando’s luck continues, I am sure Ocon would like to put on a show for his countrymen.

Valtteri Bottas $6600 is similar to Esteban but at a higher price tag.

Formula 1: DFS Other options

If Fernando Alonso’s Alpine $7000 decides it wants to last all race, Fernando makes for another top 10 finisher. I think Alonso is a better driver than his teammate so him outscoring Ocon is very likely.

Pierre Gasly $6200 this is also a home race for Pierre. Pierre showed some serious speed on Friday in race pace and once again his pace disappeared in qualifying. I think he should be pretty good in race trim and should make for a good contrarian DFS play.

Formula 1: DFS Value 5-point options

With Kevin Magnussen $4000 starting in the back with Carlos, Mick Schumacher $3800 makes for a great value. The Haas always performs well in race trim, so I expect Mick to score fairly well on Sunday.

Alex Albon $3600 is always fiesty and will fight for your 5 points and Latifi being terrible helps.

DFS Constructor options

  • Red Bull $11,900 Max has all the ability to win this race, his teammate Sergio Perez should finish in P3.
  • Mercedes $9700 with both cars starting in the top 6, Mercedes would be the best “value”  in the constructor position.
  • Alpine $5900, McLaren $5600 Alpine and McLaren would be similar to Mercedes as the teams drivers are in the top 10.
  • Alphatauri $3600 If you’re looking for a long shot constructor, take a chance on Alphatauri. They showed pace in race trim on Friday.

Race Week Red Bull Ring, French Grand Prix DFS overall strategy

Due to the straights in the circuit, Paul Ricard tends to have more overtakes then the average F1 circuit. This year has really turned into pack racing similar to stock car racing. For this reason I think certain teams (Mercedes) will have a race all to themselves, as will Charles and the Red Bulls. The midfield battle should be won by either McLaren or Alpine, with Alphatauri following behind.

I am going to put some midseason notes in the discord chat. Some notes I have seen this season

Welcome to the 11th edition of Formula 1 Race Week: Red Bull Ring, Austria, July 2022.

You guessed it, the Red Bull Ring is owned by Red Bull! Your teachers must be proud. The team might have its race operations in England, but this is the home track of Red Bull. The Red Bull Ring is a quick circuit with pole position being accomplished in 1 minute and 6 seconds.

This was a sprint weekend. Meaning that the grid was set by the results of the sprint race held on Saturday. If there is one thing I do like about sprint races it shows the cars compared to each other in a faster setting, as the race is only 25 laps.

It was the usual characters up the top of the standings this weekend as Max Verstappen, Charles Leclerc, Russell, and Sainz were in the top 10. Let’s find some good plays this weekend by exploring…

Formula 1: DFS Top Captain Options

Max Verstappen, Red Bull $18000

It is Max’s weekend to lose. His Red Bull flows around this track. The public will roster him en masse, and I see no issues with that.

Either Ferrari ($10,700) drivers

Charles Leclerc $16,800 Charles is the top driver in the second-fastest car on the grid. After some highly questionable strategy calls from Ferrari, Charles should have “win at all cost” on his mind. I think it makes sense to use him in the captain spot if playing multiple lines and try to get him in most lineups with Max.

Carlos Sainz Jr $14,400 Carlos kept with Charles in the sprint race, if he can maintain position in the race, those extra podium points will be very helpful.

Formula 1: DFS Mid Tier options

Fitting in Sergio Perez for $9000 is going to be difficult. But Sergio is piloting the other fastest car on the grid. He was buried on the sprint grid due to his lap time being deleted for going off the track. With a different strategy than Ferrari and George Russell, he could easily finish on the podium.

Mercedes

The Mercs are the 3rd fastest manufacturer. Putting George Russell at $8400 and Lewis Hamilton at $10,200 in the top 10 finishing position almost all season. I would prefer George to Lewis, but anything can happen in racing. Lewis will be a contrarian play.

Esteban Ocon $5800. Fernando Alonso has had some bad luck in race trim all season. he reminds me of the Alpha Tauri’s which are great in one-lap trim but put them in race form and they fall apart. Esteban stands to take advantage of a quicker car than Haas and should battle for a top 10 finish at a discounted price.

Valtteri Bottas is similar to Esteban but at a higer price tag.

Formula 1: DFS Other options

Haas $3500

After a double points finish last weekend in England, the Haas looks capable enough to repeat the performance. Kevin Magnussen $4000 and Mick Schumacher $3800 will be the heaviest used value pieces by the field this weekend. Haas was battling the Mercedes of Lewis Hamilton and Valtteri Bottas on Saturday. This was no fluke as Haas showed the 4th fastest car in Free Practice 1. Haas race pace kept them in the fight, and if you want to use the top-end drivers, Haas $3500 will be the key this weekend.

Formula 1: DFS Value 5-point options

Alex Albon $3600 is always fiesty and will fight for your 5 points and Latifi being terrible helps.

Stroll $4200 the Aston’s look racey on Sundays and should beat his teammate.

Zhou $3200 If Valtteri starts in the back, there’s potential for Zhou to finish ahead of Bottas.

DFS Constructor options

  • Red Bull $11,700 Max has all the ability to win this race, his teammate Sergio Perez should finish top 5.
  • Ferrari $10,700 is the 2nd best constructor. The gap to Mercedes always leaves Ferrari in play.
  • Haas $3500 is the value play in the constructor position.

Race Week Red Bull Ring, Austria Grand Prix DFS overall strategy

This week will be chalky on paper. But it is racing, anything can happen. I will be taking shots with different drivers and hedging bets with teammate swaps.

Grid positioning might change going into the race so keep attention on the discord server.
