Fantasy Football Waivers

If you are currently in the market to find replacement players, you are in luck because this week’s waiver wire is full of players in almost every position. There is at least 1 starting QB, RB, WR, and TE on this list that you should be able to plug into your roster. Now some of these players are just temporary fixes replacing injured players until they are healthy, and others are just worth stashing on your bench until they adjust to the NFL. I will start off by listing all 12 players in order then go position by position on why each player is valuable and what I see their potential role being on your team.

  1. Carson Wentz
  2. Tyler Allgeier
  3. Logan Thomas
  4. Chris Olave
  5. Brian Robinson
  6. Raheem Mostert
  7. Sterling Shepard
  8. Michael Gallup
  9. Darrel Williams
  10. Rondale Moore
  11. Jared Goff
  12. KJ Hamler

QBs

Carson Wentz:

Value: 9.1/10

Carson Wentz has been very impressive recently posting 2 consecutive 20+ performances. It is clear he has a lot of weapons in Washington. The Commanders have struggled in both games which is actually a huge bonus for Wentz. This forces him to spend the second half airing the ball out, resulting in good fantasy production. Still expect the occasional interception but he should make up for it.

Role: QB1 / Instant starter

Jared Goff:

Value: 7.3/10

Detroit is proving to be the real deal on offense scoring 35+ on back to back games. St Brown may become a WR1, Swift is as explosive as ever and Chark has been extremely close to scoring a couple of TDs. Goff is looking like he can be a good streaming QB depending on the matchup.

Role: QB2 / Potential starter depending on matchup

RBs

Tyler Allgeier:

Value: 8.9/10

Allgeier was one of most productive RBs in college during his time at BYU. It is clear Atlanta is trying to ease him into the starting role but it is certainly happening. Last week he tied team high 10 carries with Patterson. With fellow RB, Williams, on IR, it opens up a big opportunity for Allgeier to take over.

Role: RB2 / Stash player

Brian Robinson:

Value: 8.6/10

Washington has been hesitant to fully commit to Gibson after last year’s fumble issue. On top of that, Gibson struggles to hit the gap hard and get the necessary 4 to 5 yards on first. However, in preseason, Robinson proved he could be that guy for the Commanders. Although he is recovering from an injury, he could be back by Week 5. He is worth the stash and grab this week if still available.

Role: RB2 / Stash player

Raheem Mostert:

Value: 8.1/10

Raheem Mostert has now emerged as Miami’s #1 back, edging out Edmonds and Gaskins in overall touches. Mostert is by far the superior talent, but be cautious when getting him. He has a long history of injuries that could resurface again this year.

Role: Flex / Potential starter depending on matchup

Darrel Williams:

Value: 7.4/10

James Conner left the game on Sunday with an ankle injury. This is nothing new for Conner. And when he left the touches were pretty evenly split between Williams and Eno. However, Williams saw almost all of the redzone carries, making him the more important RB in that backfield. Conner may be back this week but Williams is a good handcuff to have in case another injury happens with Conner.

Role: Flex / Handcuff to James Conner

WRs

Chris Olave:

Value: 8.7/10

Chris Olave came out of this year’s draft as one of the most interesting WRs to watch this season. Olave and Winston seemed to have built a great rapport in the preseason. People were worried that Thomas would still be the #1 receiver this year in New Orleans, however, Olave looks to have taken over that role. Definitely worth the waiver wire pick this week.

Role: Flex / Instant Starter

Sterling Shepard:

Value: 7.9/10

Every year owners either draft or pick Shepard up off the waiver wire thinking this year will be different, but then he falls off or gets injured. I say that to temper your expectations. His performances have looked solid so far this year, he does possess the talent to be the guy at the Giants, and Daniel Jones seems to be growing as a QB. However, do not be surprise if he either falls apart of or gets injured this year.

Role: Flex / Instant Starter

Michael Gallup:

Value: 7.6/10

This is a tricky one to predict. Gallup has the talent to be a lethal redzone target Dallas, however he is coming off an injury and Cooper Rush is the starting QB. In my opinion he is worth an eventual potential flex spot. I would grab him off the waivers and see how he does in the next couple of weeks.

Role: Flex / Stash player

Ronadale Moore:

Value: 7.2/10

This second year WR has so much potential to be a breakout candidate for this season. Arizona is missing important pieces at the WR position and Moore can definitely fill that void. The only issue is, he has been struggling with a hamstring issue and has yet to see the field this year. He should be back in Week 3 but it is worth monitoring his health before putting him in your starting lineup.

Role: Flex / Instant starter if healthy

KJ Hamler:

Value: 7.0/10

Russel Wilson has always been a fan of fast receiver. In Seattle, Lockett had great success with Wilson as the speedy slot guy. Fortunately for Hamler, he is actually faster and younger than Lockett was during that time. The only down side is Denver has Juedy and Sutton as their top 2 WRs already. Hamler’s value really only comes when Juedy is injured. Juedy did leave the game Sunday with foot issues so it is definitely possible he could be out for Week 3. If this is the case, Hamler is definitely worth consideration for your flex spot.

Role: Flex / Only play when Juedy is injured

TEs

Logan Thomas:

Value: 8.8/10

I have always been a huge Logan Thomas fan. He is tall, great hands, and understands the QB position well. He is one of the best redzone and 3rd down TEs in the league. Wentz trusts him and has already proven it in Week 2 when Thomas had his first TD of the season. The 2 things to watch out for with Thomas is; he is injury prone and Washington now has a lot of weapons on offense. But even with those things going against him, he is worth the starting spot if you don’t have Andrews or Kelce.

Role: Fringe TE1 / Instant Starter

Curtis Samuel:

The Commanders are thrilled to have Curtis Samuel back from injury. Anyone watching the game knows he is ‘the guy’ on that offense. He has incredible speed and reliable hands. Consider him Washington’s version of Deebo Samuel. He was able to haul in a touchdown for them early in the game and you should continue to see more and more red zone looks from him.

Value: WR2

Jeff Wilson Jr.:

Elijah Mitchell is unfortunately added to the list of 49er RBs to get hurt early on in the season for San Francisco. However, this is good news for owners who are still in need of filling out some roster spots. Wilson should be the lead back while Mitchell is out and definitely has the opportunity to get you points every week. The only thing I would worry about is that the 49ers still love to run the ball with Deebo Samuel and Trey Lance, also Jordan Mason and Tyrion Davis-Price have the potential to step in as the RB from time to time. But regardless, Wilson should be in your lineup week to week for the time being.

Value: Fringe RB2/Flex

Jahan Dotson:

Two things that Carson Wentz reminded us this past weekend was that 1) He loves to take chances; 2) He loves to spread the ball out. For the past couple of years, Terry McLaurin has been Washington’s go-to receiver, but not anymore. McLaurin only had 2 catches all day and saved a poor fantasy performance by catching a deep ball on the sideline for a long touchdown. However, Dotson proved he belongs in the NFL with 2 amazing touchdown grabs. The first one, he had a great route where he cut to the inside, lost his defender and made a high catch. The second one was a third down, at the end of the game, all the pressure in the world, and reached around his defender to make a deep, clutch game-winning catch. This kid has hands, great footwork and nerves of steel.

Value: Fringe WR2/Flex

Rondale Moore:

This is the only waiver wire pickup I am suggesting that did not actually play Week 1. Due to a hamstring injury earlier on in the week,  he was not able to suit up for the game. He is not for certain to return this Sunday, but if he does, expect him to have a good target share. The Cardinals love to throw the ball and although Ertz and Brown did well this past week, they would love to add Moore back into the rotation while Hopkins is still suspended.

Value: Fringe WR2/Flex

Rex Burkhead:

Rex Burkhead came out hot as the lead back for Houston on Sunday and seemed to take the majority of the rush attempts as well as the targets in the backfield. He rushed for 40 yard on 14 attempts and caught 5 out of 8 targets for 30 yards. This comes as a shock because most believed Dameon Pierce would have the role mostly to himself. Now you should still expect Pierce to creep in with more and more touches as the season progresses and he becomes more comfortable in the NFL. But for now, Burkhead is Houston’s main RB and you should be able to get full use out of him for a while.

Value: Flex

Devin Duvernay:

Duvernay had an amazing opening game against The Jets this past weekend. He had 4 catches on 4 targets resulting in 54 yards and 2 TDs. Now I do not expect him to continue this production every week, but he has made himself a potential threat to get a TD in any game this year. Consider him the new Marquise Brown with a little more downside. Remember, Andrews did not do well in Week 1 but that will certainly not be the case the whole year. I view him as a boom-or-bust player for right now.

Value: Flex

Dontrell Hilliard:

It is clear the Titans can not rely on Derrick Henry to run the ball for the whole game, and with Robert Woods and Treylon Burks being new to the system, they are lacking in the passing game. Hilliard emerged as a reliable outlet for Tannehill on Sunday, proving he can be a viable starter for your fantasy football roster. Although he hauled in 2 touchdown passes, that was probably his ceiling. Consider him a boom-or-bust player as well as a solid handcuff for Henry.

Value: Fringe Flex

Josh Palmer:

Keenan Allen and Mike Williams have benefitted from being in a pass heavy offense over the past 2 years. And with Allen going down with an injury, it has created a void for the Chargers. Palmer should be able to jump in right away and start producing for this team while Allen is recovering.

Value: Flex

Welcome to the Week 17 edition of The Wire Report for the 2021 NFL season.  In this article, I’ll be highlighting some of the top available players to help your team make the playoff push.

Win Daily Sports is proudly partnered with Monkey Knife Fight. MKF is offering you a FREE Win Daily Gold membership for three months ($150 value) simply for making your first deposit on Monkey Knife Fight. And if free gold isn’t attractive enough, they’re also offering a 100% match bonus up to $100 when you use promo code WINDAILY.

If you’re still reading this article it means one of two things.  You’ve been able to navigate injuries and made it to the championship game.  Or you are trying your hardest to avoid having to take a calendar shoot for finishing last in your league.  Either way, congrats on making it to week 17 and having something to play for!

Below are my top waiver wire targets:

Isaiah McKenzie – Wide Receiver – Buffalo Bills (.3%  Rostered in ESPN Leagues)

With the Bills missing both Cole Beasley and Gabriel Davis this weekend, it was McKenzie that shined.  Prior to this week McKenzie hadn’t had more than 3 targets in any game.  This past weekend McKenzie was targeted 12 times and caught 11 of them for 125 yards and one touchdown.

With Davis already ruled out for the week 17 matchup against the Falcons, there’s a very strong chance that McKenzie plays an important role in the offense 2 weeks in a row.  He’s available everywhere. Pick him up if you need a wide receiver for your championship game.

Trey Lance – Quarterback – San Francisco 49ers (4.8%  Rostered in ESPN Leagues)

It came out late yesterday afternoon that Jimmy Garoppolo had a UCL tear and fractured bone in his throwing hand.  I’m not a doctor or an NFL trainer, but that sounds painful and it also sounds like there is a good chance that Garoppolo misses this weekend.  Trey Lance made 2 starts earlier in the year and filled in pretty admirably, throwing for nearly 200 yards in both.  If Jimmy G got you this far or your QB is now on the COVID list or hurt, you’ll need to grab a guy like Lance for week 17.

Rex Burkhead – Running Back – Houston Texans (24.2% Rostered in ESPN Leagues)

With David Johnson on the shelf this weekend, the Texans turned the ball over to Rex Burkhead.  Against the Chargers this weekend Burkhead turned in one of the better performances of his career on Sunday as he rushed for 149 yards on 22 carries.  Both numbers were season highs.

Should David Johnson miss week 17 with his quad injury, Rex Burkhead will make for a nice addition to your squad.  That said, the matchup is nowhere near as tasty as the 49ers have a much strong run defense than the Chargers

Josh Palmer – Wide Receiver – Los Angeles Chargers (7.3% Rostered in ESPN Leagues)

The Chargers were absolutely decimated by injuries this past weekend as they were without Austin Ekeler, Mike Williams, and Jalen Guyton.  Should Williams and Guyton miss more time in week 17 I really like the chances of Palmer having another solid game.  Palmer’s 6 targets this weekend were the second most he’s had all year.

Palmer’s been extremely steady when thrown the ball as he was able to catch 5 of the 6 balls thrown his way this weekend.  If you’re in dire need of a wide receiver this weekend, make sure to pick up Palmer as he’s available in nearly 93% of ESPN leagues.

Boston Scott – Running Back – Philadelphia Eagles (12.9% Rostered in ESPN Leagues)

The Eagles announced yesterday that the injury Miles Sanders suffered against this Giants this weekend was a broken hand.  That means Sanders is set to miss week 17 against Washington.  While the Eagles backfield is always tough to gauge, my lean is Scott here because Howard is also a little banged up.  Scott was the second leading ball carrier for the Eagles on Sunday with 12 carries.  While my lean here is to pick up Scott, you could also go the way of Howard.

Dare Ogunbowale – Running Back – Jacksonville Jaguars (.2%  Rostered in ESPN Leagues)

You have to feel bad for James Robinson.  With Urban Meyer finally out of the picture in Jacksonville Robinson was finally getting a chance to shine.  Then bam, an Achilles injury in just his second game without Meyer.  Now that Robinson is set to miss week 17 vs. the Patriots, the Jaguars are going to hand the ball over to Ogunbowale.

Ogunbowale ran the ball 17 times on Sunday and gained 57 yards with one touchdown against the Jets.  This weekend will not be as easy of a matchup as the Jaguars take on the Patriots.  Even with the tough matchup, Ogunbowale should get plenty of volume and that’s what we went in fantasy.

Welcome to the Week 16 edition of The Wire Report for the 2021 NFL season.  In this article I’ll be highlighting some of the top available players to help your team make the playoff push.

Heading into the second round of most playoffs in week 16 we’re going to have some injury news we’ll want to keep an eye on all week. We’ll also want to keep an eye on the COVID lists all week too as new targets for the waiver wire will pop up in an instant.

Below are my top waiver wire targets:

Amon-Ra St. Brown – Wide Receiver – Detroit Lions (24.4%  Rostered in ESPN Leagues)

In one of the NFL’s biggest shockers this season, the Detroit Lions beat the Arizona Cardinals on Sunday.   A lot of that had to do w/ the play of Amon-Ra St. Brown.  Brown led all Lions with 11 targets.  That was nearly twice as many as any of his teammates.  He was able to turn those 11 targets into 8 catches for 90 yards and a touchdown.  This is now three weeks in a row that St. Brown has double-digit targets.  He’s become a favorite target for Lions QB Jared Goff.  St. Brown makes for a nice pickup if you’re currently battling it out in the playoffs.

Ronald Jones – Running Back – Tampa Bay Buccaneers (23.4% Rostered in ESPN Leagues)

With Leonard Fournette expected to miss some time with the hamstring injury he suffered in Sunday night’s brutal loss to the Saints, Ronald Jones should slide right into the primary back role in week 16.  After Fournette went down Jones rushed the ball 8 times.  It was the most rushes he had seen since week 7 against the Bengals.  His 63 yards were also the most he’d seen since week 7.

While the Bucs have been a pass-heavy offense all year I expect them to get out early against a bad Panthers team this weekend and that should lead to some extra runs.  Jones is available in the majority of the leagues out there and will help solidify your backfield if you’re down a running back.

Gabriel Davis – Wide Receiver – Buffalo Bills (12.5% Rostered in ESPN Leagues)

I recommended Davis last week and I’ll do it again this week since he’s only rostered in 12.6% of rosters heading into week 16.  Davis was tied for second on the Bills in terms of targets this weekend with 7.  Only Cole Beasley had more.  What Davis did with those targets really stood out.  He was able to catch 5 balls for 85 yards and most importantly, 2 touchdowns.    Should Sanders miss time again this weekend Davis become a must pick up

Marquez Valdes-Scantling – Wide Receiver – Green Bay Packers (15.3% Rostered in ESPN Leagues)

Heading into week 16 MVS is rostered in just 15% of ESPN leagues.  That just seems like a crime.  Is he a safe pick?  No, he’s definitely not.  Is there anyone else on the waiver wire with the pure upside that he has?  Also a definitely not.  While his targets are a little on the inconsistent side when MVS gets the ball he normally makes something happen.

This weekend he was targeted 7 times and caught 5 for 98 yards and a touchdown.  That’s his third touchdown of the year and definitely not his last.  If you’re in one of the 85% of ESPN leagues where he’s available, you should pick him up.

Craig Reynolds – Running Back – Detroit Lions (7.6%  Rostered in ESPN Leagues)

This is 100% reliant on the health of his teammates D’Andre Swift and Jamaal Williams.  Should they both miss the week 16 matchup vs. the Falcons Reynolds is a must-start.  Should only one of them miss he becomes a “good” play.  Reynolds was the main guy this week and boy was he productive.

On a heavy workload of 26 carries Reynolds was able to crack the 100-yard rushing mark in just his second game of the season.  What is a feel-good story in real life may also end up as a feel-good story for your fantasy team if you pick him up.

Laquon Treadwell – Wide Receiver – Jacksonville Jaguars (.7%  Rostered in ESPN Leagues)

I make it a point each week to pick at least one player going up against the New York Jets.  In week 16 my potential pick up will be Laquon Treadwell.  Treadwell’s production has really been trending up.  He’s had at least 4 catches now in 5 straight games and has surpassed the 50-yard mark in all of them.  He’s not going to win you a playoff game but he’s going to do enough to keep you in the game.

Welcome to the Week 15 edition of The Wire Report for the 2021 NFL season.  In this article I’ll be highlighting some of the top players that should still be available in your season long leagues.

As week 15 should be the first week of the playoffs in many leagues, the waiver wires are almost bare of production players at this point. That said, there are a few out there that can help

Below are my top waiver wire targets:

Rashaad Penny – Running Back – Seattle Seahawks (8.6%  Rostered in ESPN Leagues)

What a week for Rashaad Penny.  Penny finished up week 14 with 16 carries and 137 rushing.  He also found the end zone twice.  This now makes it back to back weeks where Penny had double digit carries.  Heading into a matchup against the Rams in Week 15 Pete Carrol should start to lean on Penny even more, especially if he’s going to average more than 8.5 yards per carry like he did on Sunday.

Nico Collins – Wide Receiver – Houston Texans (1.2% Rostered in ESPN Leagues)

Was this the breakout week for Nico Collins?  Going into week 14 Collins hadn’t had more than 6 targets in any given week.  On Sunday Mills targeted him 10 times and he was able to catch 5 of them for 69 yards.  With the Texans season all but done and a week 15 matchup vs. the Jaguars, could the Texans finally give Collins a real look?  I think they do and if you need a receiver this weekend, Collins should excel in an easy matchup.

Tyler Huntley – Quarterback – Baltimore Ravens (.3% Rostered in ESPN Leagues)

This is 100% reliant on Lamar Jackson missing this weekend so you’ll need to monitor through the end of the week.  Huntley actually looked like a better QB this weekend than Jackson.  He ran better, threw better, he just doesn’t have the name recognition that Jackson has.  Should Jackson miss the week 15 matchup vs. the Packers, Huntley should be able to fill in admirably and get you multiple stats.

Devanta Parker – Wide Receiver – Miami Dolphins (50.2%  Rostered in ESPN Leagues)

With a week 15 matchup vs. the New York Jets, I want to try to grab any pieces from the Dolphins offense as I can.  Parker comes to the top of the list as he’s available in half of ESPN leagues.  In his first game since week 8 against the Bills, Parker caught all 5 targets for 62 yards.  While we would have loved to see more than just 5 targets out of him, my hope is that they wanted him to get his feet wet in his first game back and the looks will be there this week.

Ty Johnson – Running Back – New York Jets (26%  Rostered in ESPN Leagues)

Ty Johnson only had 6 carries this weekend, but he had we really coveted.  Johnson was targeted 7 times this weekend.  It was his most targets since week 10 vs. Buffalo and it was the third time this year he had at least 7 targets.  With Elijah Moore on injured reserve there are more passes to go around and Johnson was a big beneficiary of it.  Look for Johnson to play an important role in the Jets offense in Week 15.

Gabriel Davis – Wide Receiver – Buffalo Bills (2.5% Rostered in ESPN Leagues)

This is another pickup that is 100% reliant on injury news.  Should Emmanuel Sanders miss week 15 we have to love the spot for Davis.  Once Sanders went down Davis took on a bigger role in the offense.  Davis was targeted 8 times on Sunday and was able to coral 5 of them for 43 yards.  Keep an eye on Sanders status throughout the week and if he’s ruled out, Davis makes for a great pickup.

Welcome to the Week 14 edition of The Wire Report for the 2021 NFL season.  In this article I’ll be highlighting some of the top players that should still be available in your season long leagues.

The waiver wires are becoming more bare by the week.  This week is no exception.

Below are my top waiver wire targets:

Dontrelle Hilliard – Running Back –Tennessee Titans (35.9%  Rostered in ESPN Leagues)

There is somewhat of a running back by committee in Tennessee currently.  Carries are currently being split between Hilliard and D’onta Foreman.  Both Hilliard and Foreman showed off some wheels as they both surpassed the century mark.

Although Hilliard had 7 less carries, he outrushed Foreman by 22 yards thanks to an impressive 68 yard touchdown at the end of the half.  If I had to pick between the two I would pick Hilliard.  Up until this weekend Foreman hadn’t really shown off much upside.  Hilliard is still available in more than 64% of the leagues on ESPN.

JaMycal Hasty – Running Back – San Francisco 49ers (.5% Rostered in ESPN Leagues)

This is a pick we’ll want to monitor throughout the week.  There is a very real chance that Hasty enters week 14 as the main back after injuries to both Elijah Mitchell and Jeff Wilson.  If both of those guys miss Sunday’s contest Hasty will get plenty of volume.  If only one is out, while he will still get some volume, I won’t be as in love with the pickup.

Taysom Hill – Quarterback – New Orleans Saints (35.9% Rostered in ESPN Leagues)

All we needed was one week of Hill at QB to show the upside that he brings to the table.  Yes, he had 4 interceptions this weekend.  That will be a part of his game.  But he also threw for 264 yards and rushed for 101.

He provides a ton of point potential through the air and on the ground.  He’s still available in 65% of ESPN leagues which seems like way too many.

Russell Gage – Wide Receiver – Atlanta Falcons (25.2%  Rostered in ESPN Leagues)

Gage is really seeing an upward trend in target share.  Over the last 2 weeks he’s been targeted 19 times and now has at least 7 targets in 4 out of his last 5 games.  This past week Gage had by far his best performance of the year with 11 catches and 130 receiving yards.  Up next week is a matchup with a struggling Panthers team.  With Gage building a solid rapport with Ryan over the last 4 weeks, look for him to continue building on the momentum.

Tevin Coleman – Running Back – New York Jets (42%  Rostered in ESPN Leagues)

For the first time this year Coleman has back to back games with double digit carries.  With Michael Carter expected to miss another game this weekend it will still be Coleman time.  He’s done well with limited carries as this weekend he had over 5 yards per carry and the weekend before he was over 4 yards per carry.  As long as he continues to get the volume he should be someone you should consider if you’re down a running back this weekend.

Jameson Crowder – Wide Receiver – New York Jets (25.1% Rostered in ESPN Leagues)

You know the wavier wire is scarce when I’m recommending 2 Jets.  Now that Corey Davis is done for the year Crowder will be back to being one of the main weapons in the Jets offense.  Crowder has at least 4 receptions in 7 out of the 9 games he’s played this year.  With more targets being available now we can expect that number to climb.  The Jets get to take on a Saints team that just got torched by the Cowboys.  I’m not saying the Jets will win, but they should up some points and Crowder will be a part of it.

Welcome to the Week 13 edition of The Wire Report for the 2021 NFL season.  In this article I’ll be highlighting some of the top players that should still be available in your season long leagues.

We’re at the point in the year where the waiver wire in most leagues is going to be slim pickings.  This week is no exception.  There isn’t too much out there but I tried to find the best available players still unowned in many leagues.

Below are my top waiver wire targets:

Dontrelle Hilliard – Running Back –Tennessee Titans (27.9%  Rostered in ESPN Leagues)

There is somewhat of a running back by committee in Tennessee currently.  Carries are currently being split between Hilliard and D’onta Foreman.  Both Hilliard and Foreman showed off some wheels as they both surpassed the century mark.  Although Hilliard had 7 less carries, he outrushed Foreman by 22 yards thanks to an impressive 68 yard touchdown at the end of the first half.  If I had to pick between the two I would pick Hilliard.  Up until this weekend Foreman hadn’t really shown off much upside.  Hilliard is still available in more than 72% of the leagues on ESPN.

Alexander Mattison – Running Back – Minnesota Vikings (33.8% Rostered in ESPN Leagues)

With Dalvin Cook as their lead back, the Vikings haven’t had a real big need for Mattison to step into a useful role this season.  That said, when Cook’s been out Mattison has stepped up big when called upon.  In both weeks 3 and 5 when Cook was out, Mattison was the lead back and ran for over 100 yards in both games.  Now that there’s a good chance that Cook misses some time Mattison should get another chance to shine.  He’s only rostered in 34% of ESPN leagues currently so there’s a good chance he’s free in your league.  If he is, he’s without a doubt an important pickup this weekend.

Taysom Hill – Quarterback – New Orleans Saints (2.3% Rostered in ESPN Leagues)

There is a very real chance that the Saints finally make the switch and appoint Taysom Hill as their starting QB for week 13 against the Dallas Cowboys.  If Hill does indeed start at QB this weekend he makes for a fantastic option.  In his few starts at QB he’s shown that he is a duel threat as he had multiple games last year with at least 2 rushing touchdowns.  If he’s fully healthy you should consider grabbing him for this week.

Marquez Valdez-Scantling – Wide Receiver – Green Bay Packers (12.2%  Rostered in ESPN Leagues)

MVS now has been targeted 19 times over the past 2 games.  Due to his deep ball tendencies he’s a high risk high reward player and has a low catch % due to those tendencies.  If Cobb should miss any time with his groin injury MVS should start to play a more consistent role in this offense.  As long he’s getting targets, I’m going to target him on the waiver wire.  He’s still highly available in ESPN leagues.

Kendrick Bourne – Wide Receiver – New England Patriots (15.3%  Rostered in ESPN Leagues)

Bourne had one of his best games of the season this past weekend.  For the first time this season he had multiple touchdowns.  If we look at his year as a whole, he’s been the model of consistency.  When he’s targeted he almost always catches the ball.  Over this last 4 games he’s been targeted 18 times and only has 2 missed catches.  He’s building a great rapport with a rookie QB in Mac Jones that is really coming into his own.  If you’re looking for a solid receiver, Bourne is your guy.

Jack Doyle – Tight End – Indianapolis Colts (1% Rostered in ESPN Leagues)

Throughout his career Carson Wentz has always had a solid Tight End at his disposal.  In Philly he had Zach Ertz.  In Indianapolis he has the veteran Jack Doyle.  While the 2 aren’t in the same class in regards to their talent level, Doyle is showing some nice chemistry with Wentz.  He now has 3 straight games with at least 5 targets.  This weekend’s 7 targets were the most he’s had since week 2 against the Rams when he had 8.  His 81 yards were also a season high.  If you’re in the market for a new tight end, grab Jack Doyle.

Welcome to the Week 12 edition of The Wire Report for the 2021 NFL season.

Marquez Valdez-Scantling – Wide Receiver – Green Bay Packers (3.2%  Rostered in ESPN Leagues)

This was the breakout game many have been hoping for from MVS all season.  Thanks to a 75 yard reception that resulted in a TD, MVS cracked the 100 yard mark for the first time this year.  MVS was in this spot due to an injury to teammate Allen Lazard.  Should Lazard miss again this week MVS becomes a must pick up as he’d have another game starting where there should be plenty of volume for him.

Cam Newton – Quarterback – Carolina Panthers (40.9% Rostered in ESPN Leagues)

I wrote up Cam Newton last week and I’ll write him up again.  If your QB is hurt or struggling, it’s time to rethink your strategy and pick up Newton.  He’s the guy now in Carolina.  While he’s no Lamar Jackson at this point in his career, Newton is still a double threat as this weekend he threw for 2 touchdowns and also ran one in himself.

That’s 2 straight weeks now with a rushing touchdown for Newton.  He’s still available in 60% of ESPN leagues.  Pick him up if you’re in need.

Rex Burkhead – Running Back – Houston Texans (.6% Rostered in ESPN Leagues)

I told you earlier that we are at the point where the waiver wire is slim.  This recommendation is based purely on volume.  This weekend Burkhead saw 18 carries.  Although he did absolutely nothing w/ them, it’s still volume.  Similar to targets with wide receivers and tight ends, we want carries with running backs.  If you’re desperate for a running back, Burkhead is out there.  I’ll just leave it at that for him.

Tyrod Taylor – Quarterback – Houston Texans (5% Rostered in ESPN Leagues)

Tyrod Taylor hasn’t played much this season due to injury, but outside of his one poor game in Week 8 against the Dolphins Taylor has been extremely solid.  This weekend he used his wheels as he rushed for 2 touchdowns.

While the weather impacted his passing game, he did enough to help his team beat a solid Titans team.  This weekend he gets a dream matchup vs. the New York Jets.  While I favor the longevity in Newton, if you need to stream a QB for just 1 week, go Taylor due to the matchup.

Elijah Moore – Wide Receiver – New York Jets (40.8% Rostered in ESPN Leagues)

This was a breakout game for Moore.  For the first time this year Moore cracked 100 yards receiving.  He also saw double digit targets for the first time as well.  This is now 3 consecutive weeks with a touchdown for Moore and has 4 in those 3 games.  The Jets offense is becoming clearer by the day and Moore is a big part of it.  He’s still available in more than half of ESPN leagues and that’s far too many.

Devonta Freeman – Running Back – Baltimore Ravens (33.8% Rostered in ESPN Leagues)

While the Ravens have somewhat of a crowded backfield now with Latavius Murray back in the mix, Freeman is still a big part of the running game.  This weekend Freeman had 16 carries for 49 yards and 1 touchdown.  Ravens have a big game this weekend against divisional rival Cleveland and they’ll need all hands on deck.  Freeman should be a big part of the game plan, especially if Jackson is forced to miss again with his illness.

Welcome to the Week 11 edition of The Wire Report for the 2021 NFL season.  In this article I’ll be highlighting some of the top players that should still be available in your season long leagues.

Below are my top waiver wire targets:

Rhamondre Stevenson – Running Back – New England Patriots (29.1%  Rostered in ESPN Leagues)

With Damien Harris missing this week with a concussion Rhamondre Stevenson had another chance to showcase his talents.  Boy did he showcase his talents.  Stevenson finished the game with 100 yards rushing and also had 14 yards through the air.  He also had multiple TD’s for the first time this year.  The Patriots are on a short week with a game Thursday night against a poor Falcons’ defense.  Should Harris miss this week I absolutely love Stevenson.  He’s still available in more than 70% of the ESPN leagues.  Grab him if you can.

Cam Newton – Quarterback – Carolina Panthers (12.6% Rostered in ESPN Leagues)

“I’m back”, said Cam Newton with his voice and also limited performance as he rushed for a TD and also threw a TD pass.  While he hasn’t been named the starter for the week 11 just yet, there’s a very good chance he’s behind center when the game starts on Sunday.  This should be a reunion that works as the Panther have struggled with their QB position all year.  Up this week is a match up vs. the Washington Football Team.  Although they looked good against the Buccaneers this weekend, they are still giving up the most fantasy points to quarterbacks this year.

https://twitter.com/bleacherreport/status/1459993327101747212?s=21

Dan Arnold – Tight End – Jacksonville Jaguars (28% Rostered in ESPN Leagues)

Dan Arnold has quietly become a reliable tight end.  Over the past 5 weeks he’s been targeted 37 times for an average of more than 7 targets per game.  He’s also had at least 60 receiving yards in his last 3 games.  While he hasn’t found the end zone yet this season, it’s going to happen at some point with all the volume he’s getting.  He’s available in 72% of ESPN leagues.  If your main tight end is on bye this week, I highly recommend grabbing Arnold while he’s available.

Wayne Gallman – Running Back –  (.7%Rostered in ESPN Leagues)

Wayne Gallman won’t be the main guy in Atlanta.  That belongs to Cordarrelle Patterson.  Gallman has a chance to be a nice complimentary piece to him though.  With Davis’s performance not being the same the last few weeks and the Falcons down big in this game, they turned to Gallman quite a bit on Sunday.  While he had less than 4 yards per carry, he had 15 carries.  That type of volume is extremely important.  If there’s slim pickings for running backs in your league and you’re desperate, Gallman should be able to fill in respectfully.

Darnell Mooney – Wide Receiver – Chicago Bears (46.4% Rostered in ESPN Leagues)

With Justin Fields starting to look a little better behind center, Mooney should start to see an uptick in performance.  Year to date he’s been very serviceable.  He’s had at least 5 targets in every game this season except for week 3 against the Browns.  Mooney now has touchdowns in 2 of his last 4 games and gets a Ravens team that is struggling with their identity right now.  He’s only available in about half of ESPN leagues, but if you’re in one of them you should grab him while he’s still available.

https://twitter.com/pickswise/status/1457925926948331523?s=21

Elijah Moore – Wide Receiver – New York Jets (38.1% Rostered in ESPN Leagues)

Elijah Moore now has 4 straight weeks of at least 6 targets.  He’s becoming a more reliable wide receiver by the week.  Over his last 2 games he’s found the end zone twice. He’s a main cog in an offense that should hopefully get their starting quarterback back this weekend.  The Jets get a susceptible Dolphins defense this weekend.  Look for Moore to continue his solid play.

Rashod Bateman – Wide Receiver – Baltimore Ravens (32.5% Rostered in ESPN Leagues)

6, 6, 8, 8.  That’s how many targets Bateman has had in the first 4 weeks of his career.  He shouldn’t be available in 68% of leagues, but he is.  If you’re in one of those leagues you should pick him up.  He’s connected with Lamar Jackson right off the bat and with the lack of a solid running back in Baltimore, Jackson will continue to throw the ball.  Bateman has become an important piece of the offense in his brief career.

Welcome to the Week 10 edition of The Wire Report for the 2021 NFL season.  In this article I’ll be highlighting some of the top players that should still be available in your season long leagues.

Below are my top waiver wire targets:

Donovan People-Jones – Wide Receiver – Cleveland Browns (5.5%  Rostered in ESPN Leagues)

Gone from the equation in Cleveland is Odell Beckham Jr.  While the oft injured receiver will be missed, the Browns have a capable option in People-Jones.  People-Jones only caught 2 of his 3 targets this weekend but one of those catches was a beautiful 60 yard TD reception.  He has shown the ability to be a dynamic receiver and will be thrust into the number 2 option behind Jarvis Landry.  Don’t let him sit on your waiver wire too long.

Devonta Freeman – Running Back – Baltimore Ravens (13.8% Rostered in ESPN Leagues)

Don’t look now, but Devonta Freeman has touchdowns in 3 straight games.  If Latavius Murray continues to miss time with an ankle injury, I really like Freeman’s chances of returning us value while he’s the main back in Baltimore.  He’s shown some big game potential in his career and with a match up against the Dolphins this weekend I like his chances of making it 4 straight with a TD.

Pat Freiermuth – Tight End – Pittsburgh Steelers (32.9% Rostered in ESPN Leagues)

Pat Freiermuth now has games of 7, 7, and 6 targets in his last 3 games.  In his last 2 he’s connected with Big Ben for 3 touchdowns.  He’s become a more significant piece of the Steelers offense with Ju-Ju on the shelf with an injury.  This week he gets a match up against a Lions team that has given up a couple of big games to tight ends this season.

Elijah Moore – Wide Receiver – New York Jets (15.3% Rostered in ESPN Leagues)

In Elijah Moore we have a wide receiver that’s trending in the right direction.  In his last 3 games he’s been targeted 20 times and this weekend had his best game of the year 7 receptions, 84 yards, and 2 touchdowns.  While the match up in week 10 against the Buffalo Bills will be tough, Moore is becoming more involved in this offense and he stands a chance to be productive again.

Jordan Howard – Running Back – Philadelphia Eagles (8.5% Rostered in ESPN Leagues)

I’d be lying if I tried to sell you on Jordan Howard being the main back in Philly.  No one knows except Nick Sirianni.  That said, Howard now has back to back weeks of double digit carries and has found the endzone in both games.  What’s most important is that he’s had 13 red zone rushing attempts and those are gold when looking for running backs.  It’s not the easiest of match ups this weekend vs. Denver, but look for Howard to keep rolling.

Jimmy Garoppolo – Quarterback – San Francisco 49ers (6.1% Rostered in ESPN Leagues)

Jimmy G now has back to back weeks of at least 300 yards passing and with George Kittle being back he should continue his productive ways.  In week 10 Garoppolo gets a scary match up vs. the Rams.  Rams are a tough defense but have shown at times the propensity to give up big games to QB’s.  They have a couple of games giving up over 300 yards passing and a handful in the upper 200’s. Look for Jimmy G to keep rolling with his top target in Kittle back in the mix.

Rashod Bateman – Wide Receiver – Baltimore Ravens (25% Rostered in ESPN Leagues)

Bateman has become a staple of my waiver wire article.  This makes 3 straight weeks and I’ll continue to write him up until he gets the love he deserves.  He’s played in 3 weeks now and has targets of 6, 6, and this week had his most at 8.  While the yardage and touchdowns aren’t there yet, they will be soon.  He’s built a great rapport with Lamar Jackson and at some point soon, he’s going to be a top producer.  Grab him while you can.
