If you are drafting this week, Win Daily has you covered with Our Top 200 updated Fantasy Football Rankings for PPR formats. Use these to gain the ultimate advantage over the opposition. Our Win Daily staff gathered together to come up with a consensus.

Our Fantasy Football Rankings indicate that you should go for a prime WR if you don’t get one of the Top 3 RBs right away. As you can see, the Win Daily Staff recommends waiting on a QB. The position is too deep to reach for Patrick Mahomes too early.

The Win Daily staff is not only well trained to help you win big in DFS. Our writers are proven winners in seasonal leagues as well. So keep these Fantasy Football rankings handy for your upcoming drafts.

It’s the question everyone wants the perfect answer to. It’sthe most asked question in Fantasy Sports.

Who do I take with the first pick in my Fantasy Football Draft?

We tell you how to approach your first pick from every spotin the first round in a PPR format.

Pick One: Saquon Barkley is the consensus No. 1 overall pick, but when play begins for real, I believe the Giants passing game will still have to earn its respect from opposing defenses. Meanwhile, Christian McCaffrey performed like the best RB in Fantasy last year with his QB playing with a bum shoulder. Barkley will get even more defensive attention this year with Odell Beckham Jr. gone and nothing much will change in Carolina.

Ideal Pick: Christian McCaffrey

Top Alternative: Saquon Barkley

Pick Two: Barkley is now the obvious pick. Alvin Kamara won’t compile as many total yards from scrimmage as Barkley or McCaffrey.

Ideal Pick: Saquon Barkley.

Top Alternative: You Take McCaffrey if you are at this Fantasy Football Draft spot and Barkley goes first.

Pick Three: Alvin Kamara is the last true elite RB remaining and is now an obvious choice.

Ideal Pick: Alvin Kamara

Top Alternative: McCaffrey does slide to this spot in some drafts. The third spot is a McCaffrey or Kamara slot this season. Some do take Kamara as early as No. 1 overall, but the workload is not going to be expanded in a major way with Mark Ingram gone. Latavius Murray will take over that role.

Pick Four: Most Fantasy owners go for a WR here in their Fantasy Football Draft. I say if you get a shot to draft one of the Top 6 RBs this year you cannot pass on it. James Conner more than proved last year he is capable of posting quality RB1 numbers and he will likely pace himself better over the full season this year.

Ideal Pick: James Conner

Top Alternatives: Le’Veon Bell, Davante Adams.

Pick Five: Bell is going to come back determined to prove he can still perform at a superstar level.

Ideal Pick: Le’Veon Bell

Top Alternatives: David Johnson, Davante Adams

Pick Six: Many owners have been burned by Johnson and are afraid to go back to him this season. That could be a Fantasy Football draft mistake. The Cardinals offense will be improved and he will be a big part of the progress. He is also the last of the truly prime RBs on the board at this point.

Ideal Pick: David Johnson

Top Alternative: Davante Adams

Pick Seven: This is where you start to nab the WRs. Adams is the No. 1 WR in Fantasy Football, as his role should not change much at all in 2019.

Ideal Pick: Davante Adams

Top Alternative: Michael Thomas

Pick Eight: No DeAndre Hopkins yet you say? Read on. In the meantime, I’ll take Thomas as a very safe Fantasy superstar selection.

Ideal Pick: Michael Thomas

Top Alternative: Julio Jones

Pick Nine: Hopkins now? Nope. I am going to go with Julio Jones here in my Fantasy Football Draft. No other WR has as much weekly upside and while he does get injured from time to time, it does not seem like his foot issue is a major one.

Ideal Pick: Julio Jones

Top Alternative: DeAndre Hopkins

Pick 10: Okay, now you can go for Hopkins. But why did I wait five to six picks longer than everyone else usually does? Because as indicated in this report, Hopkins has battled a lot of injuries recently and is at risk to start missing some time this year. Hopkins is unlikely to fall to the 10 spot in most leagues, though, so realistically you should be going with Thomas or Jones here.

Ideal Pick: DeAndre Hopkins

Realistic Picks: Michael Thomas, Julio Jones

Top Alternatives: Joe Mixon, Tyreek Hill

Pick 11: Joe Mixon will face a lot of defensive attention without A.J. Green and plays behind a shaky offensive line. But that was also true last year and he finished eighth at the position in points per game after 16 weeks last year. Mixon will be a true workhorse and is versatile. He will be a big Fantasy stats compiler.

Ideal Pick: Joe Mixon

Top Alternatives: Tyreek Hill, Odell Beckham Jr.

Pick 12: Tyreek Hill was the No. 1 WR in Fantasy Football last season after 16 weeks. If you get him at this point of your Fantasy Football Draft, I would actually consider pairing him with Patrick Mahomes as your back-to-back picks in Rounds One and Two. I always strongly recommend waiting on a QB, but this situation is the exception. If you can pair up Hill with Mahomes, I say go for it. It’s an aggressive strategy DFS players will admire. Treat your league like a GPP and get the best upside combination in all of Fantasy Football. I won two championships riding with the combination last year.

Ideal Pick: Tyreek Hill

Top Alternatives (and final first rounders for larger leagues): Odell Beckham Jr., JuJu Smith-Schuster, Travis Kelce, Ezekiel Elliott.

Preseason NFL is all about finding players who will have guaranteed playing time and high usage on the field. Follow my position plays and lock in the NFL DFS Picks of Destiny for Sunday and Monday.Note: All NFL DFS players are priced the exact same on both FanDuel and DraftKings.QuarterbackTaysom Hill (New Orleans Saints)Coach Sean Payton is letting his Swiss Army Knife, Hill, play. Last week he went 8-for-14 for 80 yards with one touchdown and one interception. He also rushed six times for 45 yards. He really can do it all, especially against the Chargers defense that gave up 17 points to the Arizona Cardinals last week. The Saints are going to put it up more this week, and Hill can attack them through the air or on the ground. He is my favorite NFL DFS quarterback.Drew Lock (Denver Broncos)In Week 1, Lock logged significantly more playing time than any Broncos quarterback. He went 17-for-28 with 180 yards with a touchdown and an interception. Joe Flacco is the regular season starter and played just one series the first week. I expect Lock to get another long look Monday vs. the 49ers defense. We are looking for playing time and opportunity in preseason NFL DFS and Lock has both in his favor.49ers QBsNick Mullens and CJ Beathard both threw 17 times, both had over 100 yards and both threw one touchdown in Week 1. I give Mullens the slight edge this week.Running BacksXavier Turner (Seattle Seahawks)He got the majority of the Seahawks carries last week, rushing 15 times for 42 yards. He also caught his only target for eight additional yards. The Seahawks are very difficult to predict, especially when it comes to running backs, but if I had to choose one for NFL DFS, it would be Turner.Austin Walter (San Francisco 49ers)Last week he had 13 carries for 38 yards and five receptions for 32 yards. If he is going to be a dual threat, you have to consider him against the Broncos on Monday night.Wide Receiver Deebo Samuel (San Francisco 49ers)He was popular in Week 1 and didn’t necessarily break the slate. He caught 2-for-4 for 61 yards with a 45-yard reception. He is a downfield threat and has a good shot to get another deep ball today. He just has to catch it. You can consider Richie James as a 49ers punt.Tre’Quan Smith (New Orleans Saints)With the season approaching, I expect Smith to start to get a longer look. He popped a couple times for us last season but still continues to struggle with his hands. He is the kind of boom or bust receiver that could win you a NFL DFS GPP. In Week 1 he was only targeted twice and caught both for 16 yards. The low output last week should help lower his ownership in Week 2. I would pair him with with the aforementioned Hill.TEDan Arnold (New Orleans Saints)Arnold had two catches for 23 yards with a touchdown in Week 1. I remember last season hearing rumblings about his talent and how much Sean Payton liked to try and find him opportunities. This preseason, he is going to have opportunities to continue to prove himself. He is legitimately a player who can contribute on a weekly basis, but the playing time just has not been there for him, as he is stuck behind Jared Cook and Josh Hill on the depth chart. Arnold will play with the third team offense and will have the most reliable hands on the field for the Saints. I am predicting lightning strikes here two weeks in a row.Ross Dwelley (San Francisco 49ers)Dwelley is trying to fight off rookie Kaden Smith for the backup TE job behind George Kittle, with Garrett Celek currently injured. Last week he had only one catch for 21 yards, however, he was only targeted once. Dwelley has the hands and the speed to get loose and take one to the house. He should also be the preferred TE target in the red zone and is worth a NFL DFS GPP dart.Defense Rankings:

  1. Saints
  2. Vikings

Preseason NFL is all about finding players who will have guaranteed playing time and high usage on the field. Follow my position plays and lock in the NFL DFS Picks of Destiny for Friday.Note: All NFL DFS players are priced the exact same on both FanDuel and DraftKings.QuarterbackJoe Webb III (Houston Texans) This week the Houston Texans take on the Detroit Lions at home. Last week the Lions gave up over 300 yards in the air to Tom Brady’s two backups and lost 31-3. Look, all you really need to know is Webb played the ENTIRE game last week. He went 25-for-40 with 286 yards with one TD and two interceptions. There is no official word if Deshaun Watson will play but either way Webb is guaranteed to get at least three quarters. I am just locking him in for playing time alone. No other QB will have as much opportunity to put up fantasy points. He is going to have a safe floor and will not be the reason you lose this week. Let everyone else make the mistake of trying to get lucky with someone that costs the exact same in NFL DFS and has half the playing time.Jarrett Stidham (New England Patriots)Tom Brady will not play. In Week 1, Jarrett Stidham went 14-for-24 with one touchdown against the Detroit Lions and his NFL DFS owners were rewarded. Coach Bill Belichick has seemed impressed with Stidham’s transition from college to NFL so far and should continue to evaluate him by giving him plenty of run again in Week 2. Stidham will continue to keep his foot on the gas to try and cement his position as the Patriots true second string QB over league vet Brian Hoyer. I watched a lot of Stidham at Auburn and he is the real deal. He legitimately has a chance to be Brady’s replacement (when he chooses to retire) if the Pats don’t trade him away..

Running Back

Blake Snell Jr (Pittsburgh Steelers)

In Week 1 he got 13 carries for only 26 yards. However he did get two receptions, on three targets, for another 26 yards. That is enough opportunity, he just didn’t deliver. Snell Jr. just needs to break one of those 15 attempts vs the up-tempo Chiefs to win us all the money. I will go back to him today.

Nick Brossette (New England Patriots)

The 23 year-old rookie got 22 carries last week vs the Lions for 66 yards and a touchdown. While I don’t think he touches the rock that much this week, if he can get around 15, he should produce. Coach Belichick is wisely not in the habit of letting his starters get much playing time during the preseason. We should get another dose of Brossette vs. the Titans.

Fade: Tony Pollard: With Zeke holding out Pollard is possibly in line for a ton of work this regular season. Cowboys will want him healthy.

Wide Receiver

James Washington (Pittsburgh Steelers)

He was a Week 1 standout and will be popular again this week for good reason. He caught four of five targets for 87 yards and one TD. The Steelers play the Chiefs, and if they care about winning this preseason game, then they are going to have to put up points. Washington may very well be the safest wideout on the board again today for NFL DFS.

Jon’Vea Johnson (Dallas Cowboys)

His production didn’t stand out much in the NFL DFS rankings last week but the opportunity was there. He was targeted more than any other Cowboys wideout (eight) while hauling in three for 30 yards. If they keep feeding him like that he should hit value. He has the breakaway speed to get loose and take one to the house and also should be a priority in the red zone. He will be low owned vs the Rams.

Rashard Higgins (Cleveland Browns)

In Week 1 he had five receptions for 98 yards and a TD vs the Redskins. Higgins is on a TERRIFIC offense and the Browns seem like they are going to want to show off every game, preseason or not. Higgins should have decent ownership after his output last week so I don’t mind pivoting to Dontrell Hilliard for lower ownership with the same NFL DFS upside.

Tight EndBlake Bell and Deon Yelder (Kansas City Chiefs)Did anyone else notice the three top recievers with the most yards last week for the Chiefs were all their tight ends? Kelce, Bell and Yelder all had over 30 yards on 10 combined targets. The Chiefs work their tight ends into the offense more than any other NFL team. Yelder caught a TD last week so now maybe it’s Bell’s turn? I will work both on a NFL DFS team this week.Defense Rankings:

  1. Houston
  2. Rams

We are looking for playing time and opportunity in preseason NFL DFS and Lock has it.Josh Rosen (Miami Dolphins)The Dolphins play the Buccaneers in Tampa Bay. Last week the Bucs gave up 30 points to the Mason Rudolph-led Pittsburgh Steelers. I like Rosen again this week for a lot of the same reasons as last week. He will be splitting time with Ryan Fitzpatrick and is trying to win the starter’s job. He will also be coming in second, meaning he gets the less experienced defense. In Week 1 Fitz went 2-for-5 with 20 yards while Rosen went 13-for-20 with 191 yards with one interception. Fitz should get a little more time than he did last week but I would still expect Rosen to outproduce him. I believe Rosen will be the starter for the Dolphins before the season is over. He needs to throw at least one TD vs the Bucs and get the momentum building. I like him again as a NFL DFS play this weekJarrett Stidham (New England Patriots)Tom Brady will not play. In Week 1, Jarrett Stidham went 14-for-24 with one touchdown against the Detroit Lions and his NFL DFS owners were rewarded. I watched a lot of Stidham at Auburn and he is the real deal. He legitimately has a chance to be Brady’s replacement (when he chooses to retire) if the Pats don’t trade him away..Dwyane Haskins (Washington Redskins)Dwayne Haskins will get a bump in playing time this week with Josh Woodrum tearing a pectoral muscle and Colt McCoy still unable to return. Haskins will be splitting time with Case Keenum. In Week 1 Haskins went 8-for-14, 117 yards and two interceptions vs. a pumped up Browns defense in Cleveland. Haskins should be able to get his team in the box at least once vs the Cincinnati Bengals, who just gave up 38 to the Kansas City Chiefs.Tight EndJoshua Perkins (Philadelphia Eagles)The Eagles are thin at TE. Zach Erts won’t see the field much, Dallas Goedert is out the rest of the preseason with a calf injury and Richard Rodgers is dealing with a foot issue. The only NFL DFS options left at TE are Joshua Perkins and Will Tye. Perkins has had a stellar camp and now has the perfect opportunity to bust out on a big stage.Dan Arnold (New Orleans Saints)Dan Arnold went 2-for-23 with a touchdown in Week 1. I remember last season hearing rumblings of his talent and how much Coach Sean Payton liked to try and find him opportunities. Well this preseason he is going to have opportunities to continue to prove himself. He is legitimately a player who can contribute on a weekly basis, however, the playing time just has not been there for him. As of now he is stuck behind Jared Cook and Josh Hill on the depth chart. He should also be the preferred TE target in the red zone. He is worth a NFL DFS GPP dart.Ricky Seals Jones (Arizona Cardinals) He will get plenty of time on the field behind a hobbled Charles Clay. Fellow WinDaily writer Andrew Erickson pointed out that he rant the third most routes of any player on the Cardinals last week. I like it.Defense Rankings:

  1. Ravens
  2. Jaguars
  3. Houston
  4. Carolina
  5. Denver
  6. Cardinals

Preseason NFL is all about finding players who will have guaranteed playing time and high usage on the field. Follow my position plays and lock in the NFL DFS Picks of Destiny for Saturday.Note: All NFL DFS players are priced the exact same on both FanDuel and DraftKings.Cincinnati @ Kansas CityChiefs Coach Andy Reid has confirmed that NFL MVP Patrick Mahomes will indeed play the entire first quarter of their first preseason game. I will definitely have some shares of him. I have more confidence in him in a quarter than I do the backups, Chad Henne and Chase Litton, even if they have extended time. I also believe Reid will be focused more on the running game once Mahomes exits because that is certainly a position that needs more evaluation than QB.At running back, Damien Williams will start with Mahomes and also take a seat after the first quarter (if he makes it that far). He has shown just how dynamic he can be in both the passing and running game but I don’t expect him to “break” the slate. He can get in the endzone, sure, but I’m absolutely not expecting to see it twice. Mahomes is also going to want to show that arm off a bit. Also, Williams has not gotten much practice in this year with a pulled hamstring. I don’t think Reid is going to want to push him too hard. Carlos Hyde will come in next and try and make his case for playing time. Hyde is a vet and is going to get some attempts. While Hyde is fine, I will be going with Darrell Williams. He has impressed in camp so far and I believe the Chiefs OC is going to give him an extended look over Hyde to find out what they have.At wideout, I’m skipping over Tyreek Hill. He hasn’t been confirmed out but he does have a quad contusion and that’s not something I am willing to bet on in a preseason game. With the departure of Chris Conley that opens up time for wide receivers like Sammy Watkins, Demarcus Robinson, Mecole Hardman, Gehrig Dieter, Byron Pringle and Marcus Kemp. My favorite of the bunch is Demarcus Robinson. He has chemistry with Mahomes proven by his 22 catches and four TDs in 2018 from the MVP. Robinson wants a bigger role, and he is going to try and earn it vs the Bengals. At TE I am just avoiding Kelce. I know, he is awesome and I know he could break one at any time, however he won’t have a lot of time to do so. I am looking at undrafted rookie and former Princeton QB John Lovett. He is transitioning to TE with the Chiefs and has impressed with his athleticism. Although he played QB primarily in college he still finished his career with 51 receptions 533 yards and two receiving touchdowns. I’ll get him on my roster as a low owned option.BengalsAndy Dalton is most likely sitting this one out which leaves Jeff Driskel and struggling Rookie Ryan Finley. Driskel will start this game and I estimate he should get about a half. If I had to play one, it would be Driskel just based on playing time, but I am going to look elsewhere. With the expectation that backup RBs will get the most work I am looking to Trayveon Williams. Mixon is out and Gio Bernard AND Rodney Anderson are banged up. Williams WILL see the bulk of carries here. Opportunity equals better chances at production. He will be in my lineups. At wide receiver I like Josh Malone the best. The third year WR has been taking snaps with the first team with injuries to starters A.J. Green and John Ross. Malone is 6’3 205 lbs and is a very capable red zone target. He has impressed so far this year with his speed, strength and ability to pick the ball out of the air at it’s highest point. He will start this preseason game, but I think he gets a longer leash than a traditional preseason starter. Damion Williams is also a wideout that has been turning heads at practice. He is a fine NFL DFS play. The Bengals have SEVEN tight ends listed on their depth chart. I don’t want to play roulette here, but if I am taking a shot (pun intended) then it will be Drew Sample or Mason Schreck. Sample is known for his blocking so I would lean Schreck who recently caught a touchdown from Ryan Finley in a scrimmage and is fighting hard to make the final roster.Los Angeles Rams @ OaklandRamsThe Rams players with confirmed starting jobs are not expected to play.Blake Bortles will open the game at QB for the Rams. Head Coach Sean McVay told reporters “He will be out there for a couple series.” That leaves Brandon Allen and John Wolford. I have not confidence in either to be the highest scoring QB on the NFL DFS slate, so why would I play them when everyone is priced the same? I’m not. With no Todd Gurley carries will be split up between Darrell Henderson, Malcom Brown, John Kelly and Justin Davis. Malcom Brown and John Kelly are two guys I am will use as NFL DFS plays. Both Brown and Kelly have had reps with the starters and are battling it out for backup duties in the regular season. Henderson has been drawing raves in camp and should see some action, but Kelly may have to shine to make the team.Your receiver options are Josh Reynolds, JoJo Natson, KhaDarel Hodge, Austin Proehl and Nsimba Webster. I am going to go with KhaDarel Hodge here as he continues to show flashes at practice and has experience after eventually making the team last year and even playing in the Super Bowl.  Tyler Higbee is still listed as the TE starter on the depth chart which mean Gerald Everett should see more playing time at the position. Everett is talented enough to win the starting role here and that’s why I’m happy to roll him out on my NFL DFS lineups.RaidersStarters are not playing. Mike Glennon and Nathan Peterman will split the snaps at QB. Well, I’m not playing Peterman (career: 3 TD and 12 interceptions) so that leaves Glennon. He was said to have had his best day at practice this Friday, looking more comfortable in the pocket and putting nice touch on the ball. He seems like one of the safer options on this slate.Josh Jacobs is listed as the starter. They love him and are going to want to keep him healthy this season. IF he plays, it should not be for long. Doug Martin, Jalen Richard and DeAndre Washington will split the majority of the rest of the snaps. I’ll take Richard, for his familiarity with the system and pass catching ability, over Doug Martin.Hunter Renfrow feels like a safe NFL DFS play at wide receiver but be sure to check for playing time updates from the Raiders on how much PT he will actually get. The Clemson product does not drop passes and is getting first team reps. They are going to let him get out there and try and prove himself vs the Rams. I don’t expect him to get more than a quarter but I do expect several targets that he won’t drop. Ryan Grant and Marcell Ateman are a couple punts..I am going with Foster Moreau at tight end. He should be in the game when Glennon is passing (aka not Peterman) and consistently makes catches when targeted.Dallas @ San Francisco CowboysCooper Rush and Mike White are both splitting time with the second and third team offenses and are both struggling. I am not playing either. I would rather look to the Cowboys run game than their passing. At running back we have Tony Pollard, Alfred Morris, Mike Weber and Darius Jackson. I am going to play the rookie Pollard, who has been showcasing his playmaking ability at practice and taking first team reps with Zeke holding out.Skipping over starters Cooper, Cobb and Gallup you can look to Tavon Austin, Jon’vea Johnson and Reggie Davis. I am not too thrilled with the QBs throwing to them so will be fading the Cowboys receiving corps for the most part. I would consider Austin just because of his breakaway speed and playmaking ability.Blake Jarwin and Dalton Schultz are going to split the majority of reps at TE. I would play Jarwin because he has better hands than Schultz, who is primarily used for blocking.49ers Nick Mullens and C.J. Beathard will combine for the most playing time at QB, with Wilton Speight likely coming in at the fourth quarter. Although Mullens and Beathard are listed a co-backups, Mullens has been outplaying Beathard recently and Saturday night he will try and win the position outright. I will not have any Beathard or Speight lineups.Tevin Coleman should get two or three series and contribute somewhat but I am not sure that’s enough time to win a NFL DFS GPP tournament. Injuries to running backs Matt Breida, Jerick McKinnon and Jeff Wilson should help keep Coleman on the field a little longer than he usually would in a preseason game.WR Starters Marquise Goodwin and Dante Pettis are unlikely to play. This leaves Trent Taylor, Jordan Matthews, Kendrick Bourne, Deebo Samuel and Richie James to duke it out for the final two wideout roster spots. I ranked them in order or preference above. Levine Toilolo is my pick at TE. He is familiar with Shanahan’s offense from the Falcons and in my opinion is the second best skilled tight end on the team behind Kittle. Sign up NOW for WIN DAILY Premium Gold right here! Get Ready To Win

Have you ever played NFL Preseason DFS? Well, if you are new to the game this is the perfect introductory video to learn more about the approach and how the game is played. In the video, I discuss roster construction in NFL Preseason DFS and highlight the importance of opportunities over talent. As you will learn rather quickly this format it is all about who is playing in the games. It has nothing to do with player values. I also cover how important it is to stay as up to date as possible on information on players.

If you are to succeed at NFL Preseason DFS, you have to be able to submit your lineups and pivot just minutes before they lock. It is unlike the standard in the regular season, where teams are required to list who is active or inactive. In the preseason this is not required. Time to fire up Twitter!

Information Is Key

The more information the better off you will be. In both DraftKings and FanDuel players are virtually priced the same across the board. Choosing the correct players can be quite challenging considering that teams can have up to 90-man rosters at the beginning of training camp. There are times that DraftKings and FanDuel will list players that are not even on the teams anymore!

I also divulge into different strategies for each week of the preseason. Each week in NFL Preseason DFS differs from the next. This is because coaches use and view each game differently. Some utilize starters and so do not let their starters even near the field. It all depends on the coach, which is why historical trends when it comes to projections is also key.

The preseason also features much less scoring in comparison to the regular season. Defenses matter here. Looking at last preseason via FantasyLabs.com during Week 1, not one game had an under/over above 37. Compare that to the regular season where each game had an under/over at least at 41. So what are you waiting for? Watch the video and start getting ready to win!

Preseason NFL is all about finding players who will have guaranteed playing time and high usage on the field. Follow my position plays and lock in the NFL DFS Picks of Destiny for Friday.

Tampa Bay @ Pittsburgh

Note: All NFL DFS players are priced the exact same on both FanDuel and DraftKingsTampa Bay Buccaneers “Young players – they’re going to play the majority of the game, 80 percent of it. One or two of them are either going to get exposed or have good exposure, and that’s really what this is all about. That’s what we talked to them about it. What they’re putting on tape is not just for us – 31 other teams are going to look at it. So, you want to put the best thing you have on tape to be evaluated.” – Tampa Bay Buccaneers Head Coach Bruce Arians The QB Depth is Jameis Winston, Blaine Gabbert, Ryan Griffin and Nick Fitzgerald. Well, not one is really “young” at this position besides Nick Fitzgerald and he is 4th string. I’m going to assume Coach Arians was referring to all other positions besides QB. You will probably get about a quarter from each QB. Nothing too special here really. I’ll look somewhere else for QB.The running back battle for the Bucs will be one to keep an eye on. Peyton Barber is starting and it’s confirmed he won’t play with the second unit. Ronald Jones will step in and take the majority of snaps at running back. Jones has done well at camp so far this year. He has improved his hands and elusiveness after the catch from his rookie year. He has been breaking tackles and sprinting down the sideline at practice and has earned the opportunity to bounce back from his underwhelming freshman year. It will be Dare Ogunbowale stepping in at RB after Jones. He will be on the field so you can take a shot if you want to. I probably won’t.

Tampa Bay is going to have plenty of receivers available for Friday, which is not great news for NFL DFS. My favorite wideout would be Justin Watson. He is a Pittsburgh native and has already commented that he will have plenty of family and friends in attendance, including his entire high school football team. Other receivers who should get on the field behind the starters include Anthony Johnson, Bryant Mitchell, Matthew Eaton, Spencer Schnell and Cortrelle Simpson.

I am not interested in any tight ends on Tampa. O.J. Howard won’t get much time, Brate is coming back from injury and I just don’t want to play a third string TE.

Pittsburgh Steelers

Big Ben is not playing which means Josh Dobbs will be starting at QB, to be followed by Mason Rudolph. I would expect a half for each. Either QB is viable but I think I would lean towards Rudolph for the simple reason he plays the worst defense. On the other hand this also means he won’t have the bonus of throwing to JuJu Smith-Schuster (if he plays) and Donte Moncrief. Coach Mike Tomlin has said he really wants to focus on kicking in this preseason game, which makes me worry slightly about the offensive production. If Tomlin wants to stretch out the kickers then they aren’t going for it on fourth downs even if they are on the goal line. The running backs I would consider her are Jaylen Samuels or rookie Benny Snell Jr. The Steelers love what Samuels has been doing and I am sure they are going to give him a good look tonight. They will also be curious to see how the rookie Snell performs and will give him the opportunity to showcase his skill set. I lean Samuels as a NFL DFS play.Donte Moncrief is a vet and will get some reps. He will certainly be receiving a few targets and is safe. Other wideouts I would consider are James Washington and rookie third-round pick Diontae Johnson. Mason Rudolph has plenty of experience throwing to James Washington as they both played at Oklahoma State together.Xavier Grimble should get some time at tight end..

Minnesota @ New Orleans

VikingsI am not interested in any Vikings QBs. They have four (if Kirk Cousins plays) and they are all expected to see only one quarter each. Sean Mannion is going to get second crack after Cousins and may get a little over a quarter if Cousins gets pulled early. He’s a gamble.Ameer Abdullah should get plenty of run. The Vikings won’t be risking injury with Dalvin Cook and rookie Alexander Mattison is banged up too. Mike Boone should get some garbage time in the 4th.The Vikings will want to take a look at their two 2019 seventh round Wide Receiver draft picks Dillon Mitchell and Olabisi Johnson. Mitchell is 6-foot-2 and ran a 4.4 40-yard dash, however still has not had a very impressive camp. Bisi Johnson has been turning some heads and even has gotten some run with the first team. I lean Johnson here.Rookie tight ends Irv Smith, Jr. and Brandon Dillon have both contributed at camp and will see the field. I would play Smith Jr over Dillon in NFL DFS.SaintsI wrote up Teddy Bridgewater yesterday and nothing has changed. He is finally healthy and set to see plenty of time at QB vs the Minnesota Vikings. Drew Brees will not see much time (if any) and I have a feeling Sean Payton is going to want to keep Taysom Hill healthy this season. Hill is the third string QB and the Saints Swiss Army knife, and Payton won’t want to risk an injury with him either. Bridgewater is going to get at least a half vs. his old team. He can do it in the air and with his legs. He is going to get the opportunity, and I think he delivers as the top NFL DFS quarterback on the two game slate. The Saints also signed former Viking Latavius Murray at RB. He should see ample playing time and we know that he can produce. I really like the fact that he will be playing the team that just released him last offseason. He should get in the end zone. Jacquizz Rodgers will get the next best shot after Lat Murray. At receiver I am looking at the 6-foot-4, 220 pound Emmanuel Butler. He started off training camp hot, however sustained a minor injury, forcing him to miss five days. He has since been back and putting in work. Coach Sean Payton expects him to play and to contribute. The only other wideouts I would play are Austin Carr, Keith Kirkwood and Tre’Quan Smith. Saints assistant wide receivers coach Ronald Curry said “part of what played into the franchise’s decision to not actively pursue a wideout was the trio’s success at picking up the intricacies of the Saints system established under head coach Sean Payton and Brees” At least one of these these guys are getting in the end zone. Pairing Bridgewater with a couple might not be a bad NFL DFS GPP winning strategy. The tight ends options are Josh Hill and Dan Arnold. I believe in both honestly, but am partial to Arnold as a NFL DFS play.Defense Rankings:

  1. Saints (I’m just not too impressed with who the Vikings are putting on the field)
  2. Steelers
  3. Bucs
  4. Vikings (I like the talent the Saints have on offense)

Preseason NFL is all about finding players who will have guaranteed playing time and high usage on the field. Follow my position plays and lock in the NFL DFS Picks of Destiny.

NFL DFS Quarterbacks

Note: All players are priced the exact same on both FanDuel and DraftKingsUpdate: Joe Webb III is going to get the most playing time of any QB tonight. The Texans are extremely thin at QB with AJ McCarron suffering a thumb injury in practice. Lock him in.Josh Rosen: is battling for the staring job in Miami. Ryan Fitzpatrick is ahead of him on the depth chart now but Rosen will have just as much time on the field Thursday. Not only will Rosen have a significant opportunity but it won’t be vs the Atlanta Falcons starting defense. Josh Rosen was a NFL starting quarterback last year, and with it only being his sophomore year in the league, he still has A LOT to prove. He wants to take over as the starter on this team and I would bet he does by the end of the season.Paxton Lynch (SEA) Russell Wilson is not playing, which leaves Geno Smith and Paxton Lynch as the only two quarterbacks left on the roster. Lynch is at minimum getting a half of playing time. Throw in that Lynch is a vet and the fact that he will get the chance to dissect his former team’s third string defense and I’m sold.Teddy Bridgewater (NO) He is finally healthy and set to see plenty of time at QB vs the Minnesota Vikings. Drew Brees will not see much time (if any) and I have a feeling Sean Payton is going to want to keep Taysom Hill healthy this season. Hill is the third string QB and the Saints Swiss Army knife, and Payton won’t want to risk an injury with him either. Bridgewater is going to get at least a half vs his old team. He can do it in the air and with his legs. He is going to get the opportunity, and I think he deliversNate Sudfeld (PHI): He has looked impressive in the preseason and has received praise from head coach Doug Pederson. Sudfeld is very familiar with the Eagles offense and should be on the field for about half the game. He has also developed chemistry with the second team receivers such as Mack Hollins. He feels safe.Quick Thought: Kyler Murray: I will fade him as a NFL DFS play for a few reasons. I expect high ownership and even if he does get in the endzone, they should pull him. I don’t see any reason why they would let him just keep marching up and down the field (which is highly unlikely anyway) risking the number one overall draft pick. Plus, this is the first time he will be facing an NFL defense. It’s not easy.

NFL DFS Tight Ends

T.J. Hockenson (DET) is getting a lot of buzz out of training camp. The Lions are eager to see what they have in Hockenson and should give him several opportunities to make an impact in his first preseason game vs the Patriots. He already caught one TD against them in a joint practice recently so let’s see what happens when they target him again in the red zone on Thursday. I say he continues to show off his hands.Robert Tonya (GB) is getting praise from the coaching staff for not only his route running and hands, but for his after the catch ability. He was brought back this season because Aaron Rodgers and the Packers like what they have seen out of him and believe he can contribute. He needs to show off this preseason to try and lock down the number two TE spot on the roster. I will use him as a low owned NFL DFS dart.Parker Hesse (TEN) The Titans will be thin at TE their first preseason game with Jonnu Smith out and Delanie Walker to get a very light load, if he even plays (he is fragile). Hesse should see the field plenty. Opportunity is really all you can ask for in the preseason and Hesse should be getting that. He will be out there at least half the game and is a red zone threat.

Defenses

Defense in the preseason is not going to be easy to predict. One of my general rules is take home teams. Below are three defenses I will be working into some of my DFS lineups.

  1. Chiefs
  2. Eagles
  3. Cardinals

Ya, hear that? The sounds of shoulder pads hitting against each other? How about the smell of sweat? These are the tell-tale signs that NFL season is coming. Some teams got their training camps started last week, with the veterans and the remaining teams getting starting this week. For them, it means back on the #footballgrind, but for us, DFS degenerates, it means the action is back! Have you ever played NFL Preseason DFS? Well, if you are new to the game this is the perfect introductory article to learn more about the approach.

In my previous pieces on Win Daily, I have referenced how roster construction is more important than actually playing the best players. I have also highlighted the importance of opportunity when playing regular-season NFL Preseason DFS. But here’s the paradigm when it comes to NFL preseason DFS; It’s all about who is playing in the games. It has nothing to do with hammering down player values. This is because on both DraftKings and FanDuel players are virtually priced the same across the board. Choosing the correct players can be quite challenging considering that teams can have up to 90-man rosters at the beginning of training camp.

However, it does not matter how good they are or what team they play for. Snaps, opportunities, and attempts are the key factors to taking home cash from an NFL preseason DFS slate. 10-12 touches from a scrub are better than one to two touches from an elite player. Often times information is announced very close to kickoff. It is unlike the standard in the regular season, where teams are required to list who is active or inactive. In the preseason this is not required.

News and Information Is Key

If you are to succeed at NFL Preseason DFS, you have to be able to submit your lineups and pivot just minutes before they lock.

The best way to look for the most up to date news on terms of players being active or seeing a lot of usages might seem obvious, but it comes down to using Twitter. Keep smashing that refresh button. Fellow fantasy football analyst Geoff Lambert of GoingFor2.com has actually created a unique list that you can subscribe here that is filled with NFL Beat Writers that you need to follow for NFL Preseason DFS. John Paulsen of 4for4.com also has a great list of beat writers that can be a useful source of news.

Per an example as of July 22, 2019 news broke that Bears running back David Montgomery is going to see plenty of carries in the preseason via head coach Matt Nagy. These are the types of news blurbs that you need to follow to be successful in this format of DFS. I will continue to keep my content as up to date myself, whether it be on my own personal Twitter or through the preview articles throughout the preseason.

https://twitter.com/AaronLemingNFL/status/1153054870582095877

NFL Preseason DFS Roster Construction

For the most part during the preseason teams in the first week usually, have the first-team unit play one series if they play at all. So starters can be easily eliminated as options in Week 1 of the preseason. Then the second team finishes out the first half, with the third and fourth teams completing the second half of the game. But this pattern changes throughout the preseason. In Week 2 you might see one or two more series or one quarter from the starters, which is just less time for the backups.

Then in Week 3 starters usually play for the first-half, followed by Week 4 where they probably will not play at all. This is the game that will heavily highlight third and fourth stringers or players that teams might be trying to “show off” to generate trade bait or roster spots elsewhere.

It’s also worth noting looking at the history of player performances/usage in the preseason from a coaching and player production standpoint. For example, we know that Sean McVay will not play any of his starters in the preseason, especially a guy like Todd Gurley and that hurts the offense overall for the preseason.

Player Projection

Last year the Rams ranked last in preseason yards per game (196). Starters Jared Goff, Brandin Cooks, Cooper Kupp, Robert Woods, Gerald Everett, and Tyler Higbee saw little to no playing time. The fourth and fifth string running backs from last season, John Kelly and Nick Holley, led the teams in rushing attempts. Sean Mannion and Brandon Allen were the two backup quarterbacks that played the majority of snaps. Projecting it forward you would assume that the Rams will most likely use Blake Bortles a lot in the preseason, while Allen competes with former Alliance of American Football quarterback John Wolford. It’s very important to have at least some familiarity or background on the player you are starting in your DFS lineup.

There are times that DraftKings and FanDuel will list players that are not even on the teams anymore! Fortunately as a tool to combat this utilize Ourlads.com that features unofficial depth charts. Again, Geoff Lambert has been at NFL preseason DFS for years now. Geoff also makes a great point that fading hyped-up rookies early on in favor of backups with five years of NFL experience is the better approach, especially early on in the preseason. So Mike Davis over David Montgomery Week 1 of the preseason? But realistically, the most valuable piece of your lineup needs to be your defense.

Defense Matters

Defenses are great in the preseason because of the fact that you do not need to project playing time or opportunity with them.

  • Guaranteed to be out there on the field.
  • Start and play the entire game.
  • They also get the chance to play against fourth-string quarterbacks, which can quickly create a plethora of turnovers.

The preseason also features much less scoring in comparison to the regular season. Looking at last preseason via FantasyLabs.com during Week 1, not one game had an under/over above 37. Compare that to the regular season where each game had an under/over at least at 41.

There Is No Cash Gaming

Play GPPs. We all know the amount of variance that exists in regular-season NFL DFS, so just imagine it increasing by tenfold. According to FantasyLabs on the Action Network here are few nuggets that should keep your bankroll in the tournaments.

  • It’s not uncommon to see inactive players have double-digit ownership – Casual fans are too uninformed
  • In 2018, the Hall of Fame Showdown Slate last season on DraftKings saw nine (30%) of the 30 players with the highest ownership rates declared inactive either an hour before the game or well in advance of it.
