Welcome to Cash with Flash Best Bets Sunday MLB Betting Column. We’re excited to be here and we’ll try and write in this space as often as time allows.

Saturday was another profitable day as we hit our Indians picks and the Cardinals were rained out. That leaves us with a 21-11-5 mark over the history of this MLB Betting column.

We’re ahead of the game because of the nine underdogs and several short favorites we hit. Nearly 50 percent of our wins were from wagering on underdogs and without them we’d be trending in the wrong direction. That’s something we don’t want to do.

The most important thing to remember when betting on baseball is finding underdogs as it takes a 52.4 percent success rate at -110 just to break even. This column will offer a mixture of mid to short favorites (-110 to -160) as well as underdogs at +200 and below.

We’re also looking at F5 inning wagers in order to eliminate bullpens, the church league softball extra-inning, man on second base and seven-inning doubleheader rules MLB has thrust upon us.

Unless otherwise indicated, all wagers are First Five Innings Wagers (F5).

In order to arrive at our conclusions, we’ll be using the principles found in Betting Baseball 101

Oakland Athletics vs New York Yankees

The rubber-game of a scheduled three-game series commences today at 1:05pm.

Southpaw Sean Manea (6-2, 2.99) is set to man the bump and over his past 20.2 innings pitched has allowed one earned run with 16 strikeouts. He’ll face a Yankees offense with a 23 percent strikeout rate, .164 ISO and 100 wRC+ against lefties this season.

Lefty Jordan Montgomery (3-1, 4.20) is scheduled to make the start today and has allowed eight earned runs with 16 strikeouts over 17.1 innings of work. He’s up against an Oakland offense with a 24 percent strikeout rate, .182 ISO and wRC+ of 113 against left-handed pitching this season.

Cash with Flash Sunday MLB Pick: Oakland +111

New York Mets vs Washington Nationals

Game four of a scheduled four-game series is set for today with the Nationals holding a 2-1 series edge with the sides at 3-3 over their season series.

Righty Taijuan Walker (6-2, 2.12) is making the start today and has allowed six earned runs with 23 strikeouts over his past 19 innings pitched. He’s up against a Nationals offense with a 23 percent strikeout rate, .140 ISO and wRC+ of 88 against right-handed pitching this season.

Lefty Patrick Corbin (4-5, 5.60) is the Washington probable starting pitcher and over the course of his last 18.2 innings pitched has allowed eight earned runs with 14 punchouts. He’s up against a Mets offense with a 23.5 percent strikeout rate, .145 ISO and wRC+ of 96 against righties this season.

Welcome to Cash with Flash Best Bets Saturday MLB Betting Column. We’re excited to be here and we’ll try and write in this space as often as time allows.

Thursday was a better day than Wednesday as we went 2-0 with our picks. That leaves us with a 13-8-2 mark over the history of this MLB Betting column.

We’re ahead of the game because of the six underdogs we hit. Nearly 50 percent of our wins were from wagering on underdogs and without them we’d be trending in the wrong direction. That’s something we don’t want to do.

We’re also looking at F5 inning wagers in order to eliminate bullpens, the church league softball extra-inning, man on second base and seven-inning doubleheader rules MLB has thrust upon us.

New York Yankees vs Philadelphia Phillies

Game one of a two-game series begins today and this is the first meeting between the two clubs this season.

Righty Jameson Taillon (1-1, 5.09) is set to toe the rubber this afternoon and over his previous 15.1 innings pitched has allowed six earned runs with a dozen strikeouts. He’s up against a Phillies offense with a 25.5 percent strikeout rate, .142 ISO and .310 wOBA against righties this season.

Right-hander Vince Valesquez (2-1, 4.33) is scheduled to make the start today and over his past 13 innings of work has allowed nine earned runs with a dozen punchouts. He’ll pitch against a Yankees offense with a 25 percent strikeout rate along with a .146 ISO and .310 wOBA against righties this season.

Cash with Flash Saturday MLB Pick: Phillies +105

Houston Astros vs Minnesota Twins

Game two of a three-game series is on tap this evening and Houston took game one of the series by a score of 6-4.

Righty Luis Garcia (5-3, 2.75) is scheduled to make the start tonight and over his previous 19 innings pitched has allowed three earned runs with 21 strikeouts. He’s up against a Twins offense with a 23 percent strikeout rate, .183 ISO and .319 wOBA against right-handed pitching this season.

Right-hander Jose Berrios (6-2, 3.58) is set to toe the rubber and over his past 19.2 innings pitched has surrendered six earned runs with 17 strikeouts. His task is to slow down a Houston offense with a 19.3 percent strikeout rate alongside of a .163 ISO and .331 wOBA against righties this season.

Below is a short excerpt from Chapter Seven of the book and this strategy is something that you can begin today.

The Three Team Strategy

Something I find useful, especially early in the season, is limiting my action to just three teams.

The idea behind this system is to only focus on three teams and bet every game that these three teams are involved in.

Essentially you are chasing information about only these three teams and of course, you will have to handicap the opposing team. You are free to bet for or against your three teams of choice but you want to wager on just those three teams for at least the first thirty days of the new season.

Two things are going to happen; you will become an expert and know as much about your three teams as the most diehard fan and after maybe thirty days or so you will have handicapped nearly every MLB team.

The secret is to keep a notebook and track not only your three teams but every team that you handicap throughout the season. This is done so that you can become more knowledgeable about the teams and this should help make it easier to spot value.

Bowling Green won both meetings this season but both contests have been very close and I suspect and Kenneth Pomeroy confirms that Toledo is the better team and probably has underachieved this season. Toledo enters this matchup riding a two-game winning streak whereas Bowling Green has dropped three consecutive games and is trending in the opposite direction as the Rockets. Butler Bulldogs -125 over Providence Friars

This is going to be a defensive battle this afternoon before a packed Madison Square Garden crowd disguised as empty seats. Butler has a much better offense and will rely on that offense to outscore the Friars today. The two schools split their two season meetings and Cash with the Flash Best Bets suggests taking Butler to defeat Providence in this Big East Tournament matchup.

Marquette Golden Eagles +3.5 over Seton Hall Pirates

We liked Marquette at +2.5 but the sharps jumped all over the line and now we are looking at a nice, +3.5 line and we like that even more. The Pirates easily defeated the Golden Eagles in both meetings this season but big games are what Marquette All-American guard Markus Howard is all about. The Spurs are in a tailspin and can’t seem to stay healthy or two get out of their own way. Dallas is looking for a playoff spot and is coming off a home loss to Indiana. Dallas has covered the spread in two of their three meetings with the Spurs and they should do so again and especially so with Spurs forward LaMarcus Aldridge on the shelf with an injured shoulder. Memphis Grizzlies -2 points over Orlando Magic

Orlando has been hot lately and enters this matchup on a two-game winning streak but they have a 13-20 road record and they are up against a Grizzlies team that has won four of its last five games and covered the spread in four of those five games. Memphis is 18-14 at home this season and appears healthier as Orlando will be without Evan Fournier who will miss an extended period of time with an elbow injury. These two sides finished under the 216.5 point total in their previous meeting in January and I suspect the same will hold true in Cleveland tonight. The Cavaliers are banged up big time and they will have a short rotation tonight. Denver seems healthy and they allow the eighth fewest points in the NBA this season. Atlanta Hawks vs Memphis Grizzlies OVER 234.5 Points

These two sides went well under the 240 point total in their previous meeting just five days ago but tonight will be the night when these two teams give us the high-scoring game we expected earlier in the week. Both squads are in the bottom third in points allowed and are two of the fastest-paced teams in the NBA this season. Trae Young is listed as questionable for tonight with some sort of illness. Philadelphia 76ers -130 over Golden State Warriors

The Warriors have Stephen Curry back but they are going to have a difficult time tonight with the 76ers. At 10-23 away from Wells Fargo Center, the 76ers don’t instill much confidence and they will be missing Joel Embiid, Ben Simmons and Jason Richardson. That being said, Philadelphia still has plenty of firepower and should have enough to defeat the lottery draft bound Warriors at Chase Center. Portland Trail Blazers -3 points over Sacramento Kings

The Kings aren’t a very good road team at all and Portland is a disappointing team that seems to play better at home. Portland has won two of their previous three meetings and covered the spread in both those games. Portland has a 20-11 record when listed as the favorite whereas Sacramento is 17-24 when listed as the underdog. Houston has won four of its last five games and this should be one of the best games of the season. Expect a face-paced, high scoring contest featuring two of the fastest-paced teams in the NBA. Toronto Raptors -7.5 Points over Golden State Warriors

The Raptors are 20-9 away from Canada this season and have won only two of its last five games. Golden State might have Stephen Curry in the lineup tonight but that won’t matter all that much as the Raptors are the better team allowing the fewest points per game in the NBA this season. Golden State is a mess on both ends of the floor and Cash with Flash Best Bets suggests laying the wood and playing the Raptors to cover the spread in this matchup.

Sacramento Kings -5 points over Philadelphia 76ers

The 76ers aren’t a very good road team when fully healthy and they will have their hands full with a Sacramento Kings side entering this contest riding a three-game winning streak. The Kings have covered the spread in each of its past five games with the 76ers as an underdog. Tonight they are the favorite and are 10-10 as the favorite.
