Isaiah’s Protocol picks for the NBA DFS slate are built around DraftKings pricing, but are good across the industry with some slight adjustments to salaries on the various sites.

Happy New Year everyone. We have a small 4 game NBA DFS slate today. I will try and give you some of my thoughts to start 2020 off with some money in your pockets. Minnesota has listed KAT, Wiggins, Teague, Okogie, Layman, Vonleh, and others as either out, or not expected to play today. This has me looking to fade most of the Bucks. I fear either a blowout, rested players, or limited minutes. We also have a large spread in the LAK/PHO game. After projecting a similar upside with some of the cheaper players, I’ll most likely be fading Lebron and Anthony Davis’ elevated salaries.

THE CORE

Bradley Beal ($8700) Beal is still listed as questionable but practiced fully on Tuesday. He has a 33.5% usage rate and scores 1.27 FP/min. Beal has averaged 57 DKFPTS against Orlando in his last 2 meetings and is simply priced too cheap for this NBA DFS slate.

Hassan Whiteside ($8300) Whiteside played 37 minutes on Monday with numerous injuries to the Blazers frontcourt. He scores 1.35 FP/min and has put up 40+ DKFPTS in 6 of his last 7 games. Projecting 50+ from Whiteside today is making him one of my top plays at this salary.

Nikola Vucevic ($8200) The Wizards rank 26th in DvsA and 23rd in DEFF against opposing bigs. Vucevic has a 24.5% usage rating, scores 1.3 FP/min, and dropped 63 DKFPTS on Washington his last time out. Aaron Gordon is questionable and if he remains out, those stats will get a slight boost.

Julius Randle ($8000) Julius has been playing better recently. I take his game logs with a grain of salt as 2 of his previous 3 were against Washington. Julius still has a 26.8% usage rating and scores 1.11 FP/min. He’s been playing 35+ minutes over this last week, and there are some serious depth concerns in the Blazers frontcourt, as they rank 22nd in DEFF.

Value

Jordan Mcrae ($5800) I missed this play on the last NBA DFS slate, and he crushed it, so he has to make the list today. I’m still hesitant as it feels like point chasing, and he’s going to be very popular. Jordan is only an option for me if Beal happens to miss this game. The upside here is too hard to ignore. Isaiah Thomas ($5100) is a very intriguing GPP pivot here as he has a 26% usage rate, and starts. He should go under-owned after some sub-par shooting nights.

Kelan Martin ($4000) Kelan has been playing over 30 minutes a game with all the injuries to the Timberwolves. Martin came close to a dbl/dbl against Brooklyn last time out, and I can see him getting good run tonight as well. His price has come up a bit, but I’ll still take the risk here with 6x value upside.

Terrance Ross ($4200) It makes me sick to write him up here as I declared him on my DNP list after the last game. In FULL disclosure, I can’t promise he won’t make my lineup. He has great upside on this NBA DFS slate if he can hit his shots. He has a 21.3% usage rate and plays 25 mins. a game off the bench. He should also get a bump if Gordon misses the game.

Breaking news will be extremely important today. I highly encourage all readers to join myself, and the rest of the WinDaily team in the Discord chat rooms as we break down and discuss our favorite plays of the NBA DFS slate. This article discusses a core for DFS players to build around for today’s FanDuel NBA slate. While there are many different sports and various contests pertaining to DFS along with their respective strategies, we focus on the main approaches to build both reliable cash and GPP lineups for a successful NBA night including pace, the projected over/under, one on one matchups, and a team’s defensive rating. Make sure to stay active when building NBA lineups – if you cannot be in front of a computer, tablet, or on your phone an hour before lock do not throw your money away! NBA DFS lineups can change at the blink of an eye and are the most variable compared to any other sport in DFS; players get injured, some sit for load management, and others find themselves on the DNP list for other reasons; any of which can sway your lineup and where to find value. Stay alert on the WinDaily Discord chat to follow along with our updated plays. GOOD LUCK TO ALL!

PointGuard: Damian Lillard, Portland Trail Blazers ($8,900)

Last time out versus the Phoenix Suns earlier this month, Damian Lillard got into foul trouble with 3 quick fouls in the first quarter, leading to a disappointing NBA fantasy night and an overachieving stat line by CJ McCollum. This time around, I project the Trail Blazers to have CJ McCollum guard Rubio and switch Lillard onto Devin Booker and let the star point guard do his thing on offense. In a game with the highest over/under on the NBA slate and two top 10 teams in NBA pace ranking, Lillard also has one of the best matchups: the Suns allow 48.94 FanDuel points per game to point guards.

HonorableMention / Pivot: Ricky Rubio, Phoenix Suns ($7,400)

ShootingGuard: Jimmy Butler, Miami Heat ($8,700)

Some love when the Washington Wizards are on the slate, others may dislike it. Either way, it does not change the fact that NBA DFS players across the industry love to attack coach Scott Brooks’ squad. Jimmy Butler will be highly owned tonight but rightfully so; the Wizards allow the second-most FanDuel points to shooting guards in the league. Playing at the second-highest pace in the league, the Wizards will turn over the ball a lot tonight which plays perfectly into Butler’s style of play: Butler is second in the NBA in steals at 2.1 per game and will certainly pick up a few tonight in addition to filling up the box score.

HonorableMention / Pivot: Donovan Mitchell, Utah Jazz ($7,800)

SmallForward: Jonathan Isaac, Orlando Magic ($6,600)

In the first game on tonight’s NBA slate versus the high-flying Atlanta Hawks, Jonathan Isaac will be relied upon heavily for an Orlando Magic team that will be without Aaron Gordon tonight. In the last two weeks alone, the Magic have been in a pace up spot 3 times versus the Milwaukee Bucks, Chicago Bulls, and New Orleans Pelicans. The key? Issac has posted an average of 50.94 FanDuel points in those games because he attacks the glass and piles up defensive numbers. Consider Isaac one of my locks with Gordon ruled out.

HonorableMention / Pivot: Joe Ingles, Utah Jazz ($5,600)

PowerForward: John Collins, Atlanta Hawks ($8,300)

Without Trae Young again tonight and Jabari Parker listed as doubtful, the Atlanta Hawks will surely give the ball to John Collins as much as they can. Sporting a 23.29% usage rate on the season, Collins sees an increase to 28.66% without the second-year NBA pro and Parker in the lineup. With a potential blowout, this play may be riskier than anticipated should Collins not see the floor in the 4th quarter, but he is in a great matchup versus an Orlando Magic frontcourt that allows 47.10 FanDuel points per game to power forwards and Collins will have to explode for the Hawks to stay in this one. Should Jonathan Isaac shift to the ‘4’, hedge your Collins lineups with Bam Adebayo ($9,100).

HonorableMention / Pivot: Bam Adebayo, Miami Heat ($9,100)

Center:Gorgui Dieng, Minnesota Timberwolves ($5,700)

The plays at center for tonight’s NBA slate depend entirely on whether Giannis Antetokounmpo and Karl-Anthony Towns play. With KAT the less likely of the two to play, we’ll go with the assumption that he is ruled out. Gorgui Dieng is in a juicy matchup versus a Brooklyn Nets team that simply cannot guard the center position; they allow 57.78 FanDuel points per game to opposing centers and do not seem keen on deploying DeAndre Jordan to improve that number since they play at a top 10 pace in the NBA. In 3 games versus Jarrett Allen in his career, Gorgui Dieng has produced 1.2 FanDuel points per minute, which is better than the likes of stars Damian Lillard, Bradley Beal, Devin Booker and Jimmy Butler on the season. Should both KAT and Antetokounmpo play tonight, my attention shifts to Nikola Vucevic ($7,900) at the center position so stay tuned in the Discord chat for updates.

HonorableMention / Pivot: Brook Lopez, Milwaukee Bucks ($5,000)

Gamesto Target

  • Phoenix Suns vs Portland Trail Blazers(231 over/under)
  • Miami Heat vs Washington Wizards (227.5over/under)
  • Milwaukee Bucks vs Chicago Bulls (219.5over/under)

Isaiah’s Protocol picks for the NBA DFS slate are built around DraftKings pricing, but are good across the industry with some slight adjustments to salaries on the various sites.

We have a very difficult 4 game NBA DFS slate tonight, as 7 of the 8 teams are on the second half of a back to back. Making matters even more intriguing, there are several superstars that are questionable due to lingering injuries. Others are in blowout type game scripts. At the time in which I’m writing this, I don’t have the luxury of knowing what the teams are planning in regards to resting certain stars.

I’ve studied several different ways to attack this small NBA DFS slate and concluded that there is very little value as of right now. This makes it extremely hard to fit any of the high salaries into a lineup that feels comfortable. The Nuggets and Grizzlies seem to spread the ball around evenly, making them tough teams to target on this NBA DFS slate. De’Aaron Fox is injured so there should be value in Sacramento, but I don’t like targeting Denver’s stout defense at home. This leaves the five superstars which are difficult to fit in and New Orleans. The Pelicans are playing an up-tempo game against a susceptible defense in the Rockets. This is what I came up with.

The Core

Russell Westbrook ($9200) Westbrook has been north of 45 DKFPTS in all of his last six games, and 9 of his last 10. He’s has a double-double floor, and is the cheapest of the studs tonight. He’s averaging 54 DKFPTS in 2 games vs. N.O.

Brandon Ingram ($8100) Ingram carries a 29.5% usage rate and scores 1.26 FP/min. Houston Is ranked 30th in DvsA, and Ingram put 63 DKFPTS on them in his last time out.

Jrue Holiday ($7800) Holiday has a 27.6% usage rate and scores 1.12 FP/min. Scored 48.3 DKFPTS in his last game vs. Houston.

Richaun Holmes ($7100) Holmes will be asked to do some of the heavy lifting on this NBA DFS slate with both Fox and Bagley on the shelf. Denver is actually ranked 23rd in DvsA at Holmes’ position.

Lonzo Ball ($5400) Ball’s been starting, and his minutes have been trending in the right direction. He carries a 21.5% usage rate and scores a FP/min. Ball dropped 45 DKFPTS in 35 minutes against the Rockets earlier in the season.

Value

Josh Hart ($4200) Hart has a great matchup tonight. The Rockets rank 28th in DvsA, and DEFF, and Josh dropped 35 DKFPTS on Houston his last time out. (Consider a pivot to Rondo here if Lebron misses the game)

De’Anthony Melton ($4000) This is more of a gut call. Melton should go relatively under-owned coming off the bench and averaging around 15 min/gm. He’s been averaging close to 30 DKFPTS a game and is a nice sleeper candidate at that price. Use caution here.

Jerami Grant ($3800) On an NBA DFS slate that is starving for value, Grants been getting a decent amount of minutes. On a B2B, and home favorites, against a banged-up King squad; Grant may get a nice value at his bargain-basement price.

Of course, all of the superstars are still in play for every NBA DFS slate. This write up just gave me a chance to get a lot of good players in one lineup. Using all of them would be a better cash gameplay than a GPP.

Breaking news will be extremely important today as we will need some value to open up so that we can look at some higher-priced stars to squeeze into our lineups, I highly encourage all readers to join myself, and the rest of the WinDaily team in the Discord chat rooms as we break down and discuss our favorite plays of the NBA DFS slate. Point Guard: Chris Paul, Oklahoma City Thunder ($7,300)

With Russell Westbrook ($9,600) most likely sitting out tonight’s game versus the New Orleans Pelicans and Luka Doncic ($10,600) playing on the second night of a back to back coming off a serious ankle injury, my main point guard for tonight’s NBA slate is Chris Paul. One of the most consistent mid-range point guards in NBA DFS over the past two months, Chris Paul’s matchup against the Toronto Raptors is bad on paper and in terms of DVP, but CP3 owns Kyle Lowry over his career: the former averages roughly 48.86 FanDuel points per game across a 20/4.3/9.6/2.8/0.3 line against the latter in 20 games played.

ShootingGuard: James Harden, Houston Rockets ($11,500)

Sporting a 37.81% usage rate on the season, James Harden is already one of the most relied upon players in the entire NBA, let alone the fact that he is one of the most offensively dominant players the league has ever seen. Tonight, the Rockets will be without fellow All-NBA talent Russell Westbrook; James Harden’s usage rate increases to a whopping 46.81% without his backcourt partner. Playing a Pelicans team that ranks 26th in defensive rating in the NBA, Harden is a must-play tonight.

SmallForward: Brandon Ingram, New Orleans Pelicans ($9,000)

With a projected 230 over/under and two of the league’s top 10 teams in pace playing one another, we need our share of Pelican’s exposure on tonight’s NBA slate. Allowing over 40 FanDuel points per game to small forwards, Brandon Ingram is in a great matchup versus the Rockets that simply do not have the length on the wing to defend the Most Improved Player candidate. In a 122-116 loss to the Rockets earlier this season, the Pelicans relied heavily upon their priced possession of the Anthony Davis trade: Ingram registered 57.5 FanDuel points on a 35/15/5 scoring line.

PowerForward: Jaren Jackson Jr., Memphis Grizzlies ($6,800)

I love attacking PJ Washington’s opponent on a nightly basis as he is one of the best DVP matchups for power forwards in the NBA. A terrible defender, Washington’s adversary Jaren Jackson Jr. is coming into his own this season for the Memphis Grizzlies, averaging 1.07 FanDuel points per minute. With Jonas Valanciunas rarely exceeding 30 minutes in a game, look for JJJ to take advantage of a lowly Charlotte Hornets frontcourt that allows 55.2 FanDuel points per game to big men.

Center:Steven Adams, Oklahoma City Thunder ($6,400)

With few options available at the center position on tonight’s NBA slate, Steven Adams is someone that is affordable and offers a safe floor to DFS players across the industry. Having collected 7 double-doubles in his last 9 games, Adams will look to take advantage of a depleted Raptors frontcourt that will be without Marc Gasol and Pascal Siakam again tonight. Averaging 37.16 FanDuel points per game across 29.2 minutes in his last 5, Adams is the safest option on tonight’s NBA slate if you’re not paying up for Nikola Jokic ($9,500).

Gamesto Target

  • HoustonRockets vs New Orleans Pelicans (230 over/under)
  • DallasMavericks vs Los Angeles Lakers (221.5 over/under)
  • CharlotteHornets vs Memphis Grizzlies (217.5 over/under)

Top PG Picks:

Russell Westbrook – DK: ($9,200)

Westbrook is as far as I’m paying up for at the PG position tonight. Luka’s price is just too high when considering Westbrooks potential ceiling for. Russ will be taking on Brooklyn tonight for the second time this season. In the first game, Westbrook dropped 57.3 fantasy points on DraftKings. On top of that, Westbrook has now recorded at least 47 fantasy points on DK in nine of his last ten. I’m strictly taking advantage of the price gap between him and Doncic tonight. There is so much hidden value in this slate underneath them.

Elfrid Payton – DK: ($6,500)

Payton remains in the discussion tonight as the Knicks get set to take on the Wizards for the second time in the past week. A week ago, Payton played 30 minutes against Washington and was ablate rack up 35.25 fantasy points on DraftKings. Over the last three games, Payton has hit at least 29 fantasy points while playing at least 27 minutes. Washington is decimated with injuries so Payton should be able to do a lot of damage in all three major categories tonight.

Gary Payton II – DK: ($5,600)

This Payton is also a solid play at the PG position tonight on DraftKings. The Wizards are dealing with all kinds of injuries right now which has bolstered Payton into a 30+ minute role. He has a small sample size, but it’s rather impressive. Tonight he takes on New York who he just played against five days ago. In that game, Payton racked up 44 fantasy points on DraftKings. Through two games on the season, he is averaging 37 fantasy points. Again, it’s a small sample size, but the Wizards are missing half their team. He is going to play elevated minutes and should have a floor of 30 fantasy points.

Cory Joseph – DK: ($3,900)

Joseph is a great dart play at the PG position as Sacramento’s starting PG De’Aaron Fox will miss tonight’s action. After Fox went down last game, Joseph came in and played a whopping 40 minutes and recorded 31 fantasy points on DK. On the year, Joseph has played Phoenix twice already and is averaging 29 fantasy points per game in 30 minutes. Well, add the injury to Fox; Now Joseph should see an increase in minutes and push his floor up to around 26 fantasy points on tonights NBA slate.

Top SG Picks:

Donovan Mitchell – DK: ($8,200)

Mitchell has been on fire as of late and in his last outing, he dropped 35 points on Portland. Tonight, however, he draws a much tougher match-up against the Clippers. But that should not deter you from playing him on this slate. He has already played the Clippers twice this season and is averaging 45.6 fantasy points per game in those contests. With Mike Conley out for this one, Mitchell will continue to see an uptick in all his production. Look for him to have a floor of 35 fantasy points on tonight’s NBA slate.

Devin Booker – DK: ($7,700)

Booker is another solid option today with a middling price tag of $7,700 on DraftKings. He had been on a cold streak over the past couple of games but woke up last night Golden State where he went for 34 points. However, he did have an ugly and unacceptable 8 turnovers. Even with that being the case, I still like him for tonight as he has a great match-up against Sacramento who is ranked 26th in the NBA against opposing SG’s. Going off that, Booker has already played SAC twice this season and is averaging 47.1 fantasy points per game against them.

Jaylen Brown – DK: ($7,000)

Jaylen Brown continues to dominate for the Celtics as he’s put up back-to-back 30 point performances. His rebounding has been solid and the occasional burst of assists has been a pleasant surprise. Brown has now recorded at least 40 fantasy points on DraftKings in four out of his last five games. Tonight he will have a rematch against Toronto from Christmas day; Only this time it will be at home in Boston. Brown put up 44 fantasy points on DraftKings against Toronto back on the 25th.

Bruce Brown Jr. – DK: ($4,900)

Bruce Brown Jr. is definitely going to get some of my attention tonight because of his low price. Luke Kennard and Markieff Morris are both going to miss tonight’s game with injuries. With these key scorers gone for Detroit, on top of Blake Griffin’s struggles, it makes me very optimistic about Brown. He’s a stat-stuffer which makes him a great cost-efficient DFS target tonight. Look for him to have a floor of 28 fantasy points on tonight’s NBA slate.

Top SF Picks:

Khris Middleton – DK: ($8,200)

If Giannis returns tonight, I am going to completely avoid going with Middleton because his price is positioned at an extremely high point. He only cost $7,000 on DK last game and now he is $8,200. This is obviously the correct price for him if Giannis sits out tonight. However, when the Greek Freak is on the floor, he commands a large usage rating that eats away at the Middleton ceiling. Keep an eye out on the injuries here as I will likely pivot right to Wiggins.

Andrew Wiggins – DK: ($7,900)

Wiggins scored 42 fantasy points in his last outing while shooting just 4-19 from the field. It wasn’t a pretty performance, but he added on 10 rebounds and 7 assists. Tonight he has a much easier match-up against the Cavaliers. It’s unclear if Karl Anthony Towns will make his return tonight. But even if he does, I’d still keep Wiggins in your lineup. Look for him to have a floor of 36 fantasy points on DraftKings tonight.

Damion Lee – DK: ($6,100)

There is definitely something to be said about the Warriors defense over the last week because it appears to have gotten much better. The Warriors won their last four games in a row against these teams: Phoenix, Houston, Minnesota, New Orleans. Not the most impressive list on the planet, but they were all hard-fought battles. Lee has been a major part of the Warriors surge over the last week. In just his last two games combined, Lee has racked up 38 points, 23 rebounds, 6 assists, and 6 steals. On top of all this, he played a season-high, 36 minutes in his most recent outing.

Josh Richardson – DK: ($5,800)

Richardson is a great value play on tonight’s slate as he gets to go play on his old home court down in Miami. Over his last two games, he’s recorded a combined 33 points, 10 assists, 8 rebounds, 4 steals, and 2 blocks in 73 minutes of action. There’s no doubt Richardson is beginning to trend in the right direction and his price hasn’t really reflected it yet. This will be the third time he’s played Miami this season and he’s currently averaging 39.5 fantasy points per game against them over the first two. Look for him to have a floor of 32 fantasy points on tonight’s NBA slate.

Top PF Picks:

Anthony Davis – DK: ($10,200)

AD had a down outing for his standards against the Clippers but you have to hand it to their defense for containing him. Tonight should be a whole different story. He has a great match-up against Portland who ranks 29th in the entire NBA against opposing PF’s. On top of that, he played Portland earlier in the season and racked up 62.8 fantasy points on DraftKings in 32 minutes. I don’t think it is 100% necessary to play AD in all your lineups tonight due to other strong plays underneath him. But, he is definitely a solid play tonight and would smash if he hits 60.

John Collins – DK: ($8,400)

Collins almost becomes a must roster player now that Atlanta is going to be without Trae Young and Jabari Parker going into tonight. There are going to be a plethora of shot-attempts up for grabs tonight. The main beneficiary figures to be John Collins who has now played two games since returning from suspension. He had a cold shooting night against Milwaukee last game but that shouldn’t be an issue tonight. Chicago is 30th in the NBA against opposing PF’s. Look for Collins to have a floor of 40 fantasy points.

Richaun Holmes – DK: ($6,700)

Holmes has been an absolute force for Sacramento. From a fantasy standpoint, he doesn’t need heavy minutes in order to be extremely efficient. The best part is, his minutes are the least of the worries for tonight. Marvin Bagley and De’Aaron Fox went down with injuries and will miss more time. Holmes will be the direct beneficiary to Bagley’s minutes; as well as some of Fox’s shot attempts. Holmes has recorded at least 33 fantasy points on DK in all four of his last games.

Top C Picks:

Joel Embiid – DK: ($9,400)

If salary at the C position isn’t an issue for your lineup build tonight, give Embiid a consideration. Despite Miami boasting the 3rd best defense in the NBA against opposing C’s, Embiid has had his way with Miami’s bigs this season. After the two previous match-ups, Embiid is averaging 53 fantasy points per game against them. If you don’t feel comfortable buying low at this position on DK, just go with what you know. As far as I know, Embiid has put up at least 41 fantasy points on DraftKings in each of his last nine games.

Gorgui Dieng – DK: ($6,300)

Dieng is an obvious play tonight if Karl Anthony Towns is out again. The only issue with him is that the rest of the world will also be on him as well. Either way, he has now recorded at least 30 points on DK in each of his last three games. Tonight he will be taking on Cleveland and they are ranked 24th in the league against opposing C’s. If Town’s is back tonight, I would not risk it with Dieng.

Jonathan Williams – DK: ($4,200)

It’s getting pretty ugly for Washington. So ugly that they’re signing players that played overseas earlier in the year and having to give them meaningful minutes. Jonathon Williams played great in his debut for the Wizards playing 33 minutes and recording 9 points, 8 rebounds, 2 assists, and 1 block. It’s definitely a gamble so I will not be playing him in all of my lineups. However, if Bradley Beal misses tonight’s game, then I might have to pivot down to Williams in a few more.

Isaiah’s Protocol picks are built around DraftKings pricing but are good across the industry with some slight adjustments to salaries on the various sites.

Merry Christmas everyone. We have some marquis games to look at in this 5 game NBA DFS slate today. Some of the biggest names in the NBA will be taking the court against 7 of the top 8 teams in the league ranked in defensive efficiency. I’m putting more emphasis on this slate because it’s a holiday, and I expect a high volume of contestants to be entered in some of the spectacular contests available. Having played NBA DFS every day this season, the staff here at WinDaily has insight, information, and general knowledge available, that will help us gain some leverage on the rest of the field. I’m going to give you my thoughts on some core players that I think should be included in your roster construction, and some value plays that will help you fit the studs in.

THE CORE

Giannis Antetokounmpo ($11,300) Giannis has a 40% usage rate, scores almost 2 FP/Min., has been hitting 3’s lately, and is relatively match up proof. He’s a consistent triple-double machine and actually gets a huge bump to his stats with Bledsoe (injured) off the floor. The Bucks are 2 point favorites and have the fastest pace on this NBA DFS slate. I’ll ride with the Greek Freak to score a majority of the Bucks implied team total of 112.

Kawhi Leonard ($8700) I’m not going to throw a lot of stats out here aside from his 35.2% usage rate, and 1.5 FP/min. Kawhi is a different kind of player when the stakes are high, and someone I want on my roster. This game has a 1 point spread and a 223 total. My gut feeling is that Kawhi puts this team on his back and shows the world that the Clippers are legit contenders. At that salary, I’ll take one of the best players in the league.

MID TIER

D’Angelo Russell ($7400) Russell seems to have put his thumb injury in the rearview mirror averaging 33 mins., and 43 FPTS/gm over his last 3 contests. The Rockets are favored by 10 and struggle against opposing SG’s. With a 32.8% usage rate and 1.23 FP/min., I want some exposure to D’Angelo in this pace up spot.

Jaylen Brown ($6800) Jaylen carries a 22.8% usage rate and 1.05 FP/min. My most important take here is that Gordon Hayward should be back. This should limit an already short-handed Raptor team in guarding all the Celtic weapons. Toronto is allowing the 4th most FP to small forwards. Brown tagged the Raptors for a 25/9/4/2 stat line last time around. He’s also averaged over 40 FPTS in his last 3, barely missing a double-double in 2 of those games by 1 rebound.

 VALUE

Lou Williams ($5800) Williams carries a 30.5% usage rate, and scores 1.11 FP/min. His salary on this NBA DFS slate is simply too cheap. He put up almost 40 FPTS against the Lakers earlier this season. Contrary to the masses, I don’t really like Lou if Beverly misses the game. He just doesn’t have the same opportunity running with starters Kawhi Leonard, and Paul George.

Montrezl Harrell ($5500) Harrell has a 25.3% usage rate in 29 min/gm. Averaging 19 points, 8 rebounds, 2 assists, and 2 Blk/Stls. He has an upside of 40 FPTS here and is simply priced too low.

Rondae Hollis- Jefferson ($5300) RHJ has been averaging just over a fantasy point per minute this season. He’s been getting run with Siakam, Gasol, and Powell all out with injuries.

NBA DFS lineups can change at the blink of an eye and is the most variable compared to any other sport in DFS; players get injured, some sit for load management, and others find themselves on the DNP list for other reasons; any of which can sway your lineup and where to find value. Stay alert on the WinDaily Discord chat to follow along with our updated plays. GOOD LUCK TO ALL!

PointGuard: Ben Simmons, Philadelphia 76ers ($8,000)

With James Harden being my favorite of the two Houston Rockets’ superstars on today’s NBA slate, my attention turns to Ben Simmons at the point guard position. Without Eric Bledsoe in the lineup, the Bucks have been annihilated by point guards; most notably, players like Jalen Brunson, Seth Curry, and Elfrid Payton have all put up 30+ FanDuel points against the Bucks in the last week. With Ben Simmons being no match for Donte DiVincenzo, look for the former Rookie of the Year to take advantage of a Milwaukee squad that plays at the fastest pace in the league.

HonorableMention / Pivot: Kyle Lowry, Toronto Raptors ($8,000)

ShootingGuard: Damion Lee, Golden State Warriors ($4,400)

Make no mistake, the Houston Rockets-Golden State Warriors game will most likely be the highest-scoring affair on the NBA Christmas Day slate and we need our fair share of exposure to it. One of my favorite value plays of the day is Damion Lee who is averaging 25.82 FanDuel points across 29 minutes in his last 5 games since returning from injury. He is in a great matchup versus James Harden; the Rockets allow the third-most FanDuel points to opposing shooting guards at 45.3 per game. With a little amount of value on the slate available to us combined with multiple studs to jam in, Lee ($4,400) will be in a lot of my lineups today.

HonorableMention / Pivot: Lou Williams, Los Angeles Clippers ($5,100)

SmallForward: LeBron James, Los Angeles Lakers ($9,800)

LeBron James on an NBA Christmas Day slate for the 13th year in a row? Sign me up. LeBron will be on a mission after sitting out the Lakers’ last game versus the Denver Nuggets; he averages 26/7.6/6.7/1.5/0.8 on Christmas Day in his career and today will be no different. With Anthony Davis likely drawing a matchup against Kawhi Leonard and an abundance of MVP candidates playing on the same day, LeBron will not only want to show that he is still the best player in the league, but also that his team is the best in the city of Los Angeles.

HonorableMention / Pivot: Giannis Antetokounmpo, Milwaukee Bucks ($11,200)

PowerForward: Rondae Hollis-Jefferson, Toronto Raptors ($4,100)

Decimated by the injury bug, the Toronto Raptors’ bench players are being forced to play big minutes. With Marc Gasol, Pascal Siakam, and Normal Powell all out for the reigning NBA Champions, Rondae Hollis-Jefferson has stepped up in a big way and seems to have coach Nick Nurse’s trust over Chris Boucher. Averaging 31 FanDuel points across 28 minutes per game since his teammates went down with injuries, RHJ is producing 1.11 FanDuel points per minute and is one of, if not the best value play on the slate today.

HonorableMention / Pivot: Daniel Theis, Boston Celtics ($4,300)

Center:Brook Lopez, Milwaukee Bucks ($4,900)

With other roster positions taking a chunk of our salary for today’s NBA slate, Brook Lopez ($4,900) is a player finding himself in my lineups. Lopez and Giannis Antetokounmpo will be tasked with guarding 76ers center Joel Embiid in this one and with Brook Lopez averaging a career-high in blocks at 2.6 per game, he has ample opportunity to pick up a few more today. Labeled as a good defender, Embiid typically spends his nights guarding the paint and the rim for a 76ers squad that ranks in the top 10 defensive teams in the NBA whereas Lopez floats around the perimeter and presents a different outlook for Embiid. With his 3-point shooting ability a rarity amongst NBA centers combined with his defensive upside, Lopez should be leaned on in a battle between two Eastern Conference heavyweights.

HonorableMention / Pivot: Montrezl Harrell, Los Angeles Clippers ($5,500)

Gamesto Target

  • Houston Rockets vs Golden State Warriors(226.5 over/under)
  • Los Angeles Clippers vs Los Angeles Lakers(223.5 over/under)
  • Milwaukee Bucks vs Philadelphia 76ers (220over/under)

Welcome Back, Everyone! The NBA Christmas Day slate on DraftKings has a total of 5 games and the first match-up tips off at 12:00 P.M. Eastern Time. This article breaks several plays I like at each position and who I’m targeting most. This includes my high cost, value, and sleeper plays. Happy Holiday’s!

-NBA Schedule-

BOS @ TOR – 12:00 P.M. Eastern Time
MIL @ PHI – At 2:30 P.M. Eastern Time
HOU @ GSW – At 5:00 P.M. Eastern Time
LAC @ LAL – At 8:00 P.M. Eastern Time
NO @ DEN – At 10:30 P.M. Eastern Time

Top PG Picks:

Russell Westbrook – DK: ($8,900)

Westbrook has a great match-up tonight going up against Golden State who is currently ranked 23rd in the NBA against opposing PG’s. He played Golden State earlier this season and had just 40 points on FanDuel. However, that was before his recent surge in his production. Westbrook has scored at least 28 points in each of his last four games. On top of that, he has racked up at least 47 points on DraftKings in nine of his last ten. He’s getting to the free-throw line more and has really turned his offensive aggressiveness up a notch. Look for him to have a floor of 46 fantasy points.

Kyle Lowry – DK: ($8,500)

Lowry has quickly become the number one weapon on offense for Toronto due to all the recent injuries. He’s scored at least 46 points on DraftKings in each of his last five games now. He will face off against Boston on Christmas day which figures to be a very competitive game. Lowry dropped 49 fantasy points on Boston once this season proving he is capable of beating their defense. Combine that with how well he is playing right now and you have a solid play tonight. Look for Lowry to have a floor of 40 fantasy points.

George Hill – DK: ($4,300)

Hill is my sleeper pick at the PG position for tonight on DraftKings. He’s been hitting his value consistently when considering how low he’s priced. Hill has put up at least 20 fantasy points in six out of his last seven outings. With Eric Bledsoe out for the near future, Hill will remain entranced in the Bucks rotation. This game will be a very tough match-up, so perhaps the Bucks rely on their veteran PG a little more tonight. If he can get you 20 points on DK, the pick is worth it.

Top SG Picks:

James Harden – DK: ($11,600)

It’s tough to ignore James Harden when he is on the slate in general. It’s even more difficult when his opponent is the Golden State Warriors. Now I know you can’t go off past games to predict how someone will perform. But, Harden dropped 74 fantasy points against Golden State earlier this season. Going off that, he is currently averaging 62.7 fantasy points per game on the season. The Warriors are ranked 19th in the NBA against opposing SG’s. On paper, Harden has a dream match-up tonight. Look for him to have a floor of 55 fantasy points.

Jaylen Brown – DK: ($6,800)

Jaylen Brown has turned into a very consistent source of production for the Celtics this season. He does have an occasional clunker, but his match-up tonight is too good to ignore. Brown already whooped Toronto once this season where he put up 46.8 fantasy points on DraftKings. On top of that, Toronto is ranked 22nd in the NBA against opposing SG’s. Look for him to have a floor of 35 fantasy points.

Alec Burks – DK: ($5,600)

Alec Burks went off against Minnesota last night by putting up a whopping 25 points, 8 assists, 2 rebounds, 3 steals, and 1 block in 34 minutes of action. Surprisingly, he is one of the go-to-guys on the offensive end when he is on the floor. Even though he comes off the bench, he’s put up 30 or more fantasy points in seven of his last ten games on DraftKings. He will remain entranced in the Warriors rotation on Christmas day and he should have a floor of 26 fantasy points.

Top SF Picks:

Giannis Antetokounmpo – DK: ($11,300)

Giannis is a no brainer for the Christmas day slate on DraftKings. Although he has a sky-high price tag, he will be heavily involved against Philadelphia. This is not going to be an easy game and the Bucks are going to have to grind it out. It may not be the prettiest game offensively for Giannis, but you can count on him filling up the rest of the stat sheet. He’s looking at a floor of 55 fantasy points on Christmas day. If he scores 25 or more points, he’ll be looking at a ceiling game.

Brandon Ingram – DK: ($7,700)

Ingram is a great value play on this slate as New Orleans gets set to take on Denver for the second time this season. In the first match-up, Ingram dropped 35 points on DraftKings as the Pelicans breezed by Denver by a final score of 107-122. I don’t think New Orleans will take control of this game, but Denver is having issues putting teams away early in games. That could lead to a solid amount of minutes for all the starters. If that’s the case, Ingram is the guy you want from New Orleans.

Rondae Hollis Jefferson – DK: ($5,300)

Although we are dealing with a super small sample size here, Hollis Jefferson is a great value play. He put up 34 points on FanDuel in each of his last two games and experienced a major bump in minutes. Although the bump in minutes didn’t translate to more production, he’s still flexing a very high floor for his price. As long as the injuries remain, you can expect Hollis Jefferson to continue flirting with 30 or more minutes each night. Look for him to have a floor of 30 against Boston on Christmas day.

Top PF Picks:

Anthony Davis – DK: ($10,100)

I think it’s completely worth it to pay up for Anthony Davis on this slate due to his extremely high floor. In each of his last 7 games, Davis has been able to record at least 49 points on DraftKings. Including 3 games with 60+ fantasy points during that span. He is flashing an extremely high ceiling recently and with LeBron perhaps a little beat up, he hits again on Christmas day. Look for AD to have a floor of 50 fantasy points on Christmas Day’s NBA slate.

Jayson Tatum – DK: ($7,800)

Jayson Tatum had one of the best games in his young career last night against Charlotte. He completely took over the game in the second half and left Charlotte begging for mercy. In the outing, Tatum recorded a career-high 39 points to go along with a season-high 12 rebounds. Earlier in the year Tatum played against Toronto and put up a whopping 50 points on DraftKings. Toronto is dealing with a plethora of injuries at the moment so Tatum will look to exploit the defense early. He is a must-start in my book.

Serge Ibaka – DK: ($7,300)

When Ibaka gets the minutes, he is usually one of the more reliable scoring PF’s in the league. However, this season he has been capped to under 25 minutes per game. That has severely hurt his ceiling and made him essentially unplayable for weeks. But, Toronto has no choice but to play him because of the injuries they are dealing with. Overall, Ibaka has responded well besides the dud he had against Dallas. He has racked up at least 38 points on DraftKings in three out of his last four games now. He will take on Boston on Christmas day and look for him to have a floor of 34 fantasy points.

PJ Tucker – DK: ($4,400)

Tucker is one of those DFS guys that can make or break your lineup given the large disparities in his final lines. He could get you 40 fantasy points one night and then 10 the next while playing 40 minutes in both games. With that being said, if the slate is calling for more value at the PF position, Tucker is a guy I always look for. He’s scored at least 29 fantasy points in six out of his last ten games. Golden State is next up for Tucker and earlier in the season he dropped 45 fantasy points against them. Look for him to have a floor of 25 fantasy points on tonight’s NBA slate.

Top C Picks:

Clint Capella -DK: ($7,500)

Capella is my go-to center for the Christmas Day NBA slate given the lack of depth at the position combined with it being a smaller slate. He is also priced $1,900 cheaper than Nikola Jokic and they both have almost identical floors going into tonight. The difference-maker for me is the easy match-up. Capella is going up against Golden State and they are ranked 16th in the NBA against opposing centers. Earlier in the season, Capella dropped 57 fantasy points on DraftKings against Golden State so he is more than capable of having a monster game. Look for him to have a floor of 40 fantasy points.

Brook Lopez – DK: ($5,200)

Lopez makes for an okay pivot off of Capella if you are in serious need of salary relief at the center position. Lopez is the type of player that gets into grooves and will play very well for a few weeks at a time. Right now he is doing just that. He has recorded at least 31 fantasy points on DK in each of his last three games. Another stat I thought was interesting, Lopez averages 22 fantasy points per game at home this year in 15 games. On the road, Lopez averages 28 fantasy points per game. Again, I don’t 100% love this pick, but if you have to buy down at the position, I’d go with Lopez.

We have a four-game slate at both FanDuel and DraftKings tonight and plenty of ways for us to go and build successful lineups. The following are my NBA DFS Core plays and leverage spots against the field for December 22. 2019

My core plays are the basis of your teams for cash and GPP. For a cash lineup, you will fill out your roster with other starters and players with safe minutes. For tournaments, you will use 1 or 2 leverage plays mixed in with other cash style players. Good luck!

NBA DFS Core 4

Rajon Rondo (4,300)

Rondo is the best point per dollar option currently on the slate, coming in at 4,300 and seeing about 30 minutes with no Lebron James today. This isn’t the best match-up but these kinds of minutes at this price warrants playing him anyways.

Daniel Theis (4,200)

Charlotte is one of the worst teams in the league against centers and forwards. Theis has been playing around 22 minutes a game and comes in super cheap today.

Gordon Hayward (6,100)

Another Celtic big man against Charlotte. Hayward is coming back from injury and has a serious 40 point upside at his depressed price tag. If you wanted a more tournament play here, Tatum is about 1500 more expensive but should have less ownership in the same spot.

Anthony Davis (10,100)

Lebron is out and that means lock Anthony Davis in for cash games. In this spot, Davis should be 12K so he’s massively underpriced. Targeting the Nuggets isn’t my favorite thing but match-ups get overruled by price and upside. For Tournaments, it is perfectly okay to fade both studs and build a balanced lineup that features Paul George and Jokic.

Lou Williams (5,100) FD

Williams is severely underpriced on Fanduel with Leonard out. On Draftkings I think this is a sneaky spot, but on Fanduel Lou is a core play and should be a building block for lineups.

NBA DFS Leverage Plays

Nikola Jokic (9,200)

Jayson Tatum (7,400)

Malcolm Brogdon (7,100)

Kyle Kuzma (3,500)

Lou Williams (6,500)

NBA DFS Player Pool

PG: Malcolm Brogdon, Jamal Murray, Rajon Rondo, George Hill, Aaron Holiday, Landry Shamet

SG: Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, Dennis Schroeder, Lou Williams, Kentavius Caldwell-Pope, Danny Green, Malik Monk

SF: Giannis Antetokounmpo, Paul George, Gordon Hayward, TJ Warren, Maurice Harkless, Nicolas Batum

PF: Anthony Davis, Domantas Sabonis, Jayson Tatum, Daniel Theis, Paul Millsap, Kyle Kuzma

C: Nikola Jokic, Montrezl Harrel, Brooke Lopez, Myles Turner, JaVale Mcgee, Ivica Zubac

Slate Thoughts

On Draftkings for tournaments you should probably play Davis if not your teams should be built around Jokic, George, the Celtics forwards, and one of Sabonis or Brogdon. On Fanduel I think you can easily get leverage by playing both Theis and Tatum in the same lineup since they’re in the same position. Start with 2 of Lou, Kuzma, and Rondo as value and enjoy playing anyone else you want. Good luck everyone!
