Tuesday’s Cash with the Flash Best Bets focused on MLB and we finished 1-1. The Cincinnati Reds didn’t do what I thought they would do, and the Kansas City Royals did exactly what we thought they would.

Betting dawgs is a hard way to profit from MLB wagers as they are underdogs for a reason. Vegas rarely makes mistakes and when they do we should pounce on them. Here are a few tips I’ve picked up along the way to try and utilize at Cash with the Flash Best Bets when choosing underdogs.

Betting Underdogs Against Top 40 Pitchers

That is a big no-no for me and especially against a toppitcher at home. When I mean top pitcher, I am talking about a pitcher with aWHIP of 1.15 or less. If I see these pitchers I usually run from the dawg.

Eliminate All Games of +170 or Greater

Okay, we’ve recently seen a couple of those games pay off,but they usually don’t. I try and leave those games alone for obvious reasons.In case it isn’t obvious? Vegas knows what they are doing and while they domake mistakes, they generally don’t make BIG mistakes.

Bullpens Matter

Especially so at this time of year. The best teams usuallyhave the best bullpens and it makes sense when playing a dawg to at least checkhow the bullpen is doing. MLB ranked thebest bullpens post MLB Trade Deadline and this has been a big help tome.

Don’t Play Underdogs on Losing Streaks

We usually leave underdogs of three or more game losing streaks alone. Especially when these dogs are playing on the road. Conversely, we don’t play underdogs against teams with three-game winning streaks or more and especially not a road dog against a home team playing lights out baseball.

Minnesota Twins(+121) over Boston Red Sox (-131)7:10 pm ET

The Twins have won nine of their last 10 and are riding a three-game winning streak AND have Jose Berrios on the hill against a Boston Red Sox club with a losing record at home (34-35). Eduardo Rodriguez has pitched very well at home, compiling a 7-1 record and 3.53 ERA with a 4.53 xFIP at home this season. The Sox lefty also allows 1.03 bombs per nine innings pitched and that isn’t good against a Twins offense leading MLB in bombs off lefties (86) and bombs on the road (149).

Berrios has an above-average road WHIP (1.16) with a 3.52 ERAand 4.34 xFIP over 92 innings pitched away from Target Field this season. Ifthere were EVER an MLB dawg to bet, its Minnesota.

BelindaBencic (-190) over Donna Vekic(+155) 12:00 pm ET

Vekic has had a tremendous run at the Open and is coming off a great fourth-round win over Julia Goerges. Vekic was down a set and a break in her three-set win but that win had more to do with Goerges being unable to seal the deal than anything Vekic did. Bencic defeated defending champion and world number one in straight sets to set up this matchup. There is always the danger of a letdown after a big win, but Bencic has more wins over Top 10 players this season (10) than anyone else so that shouldn’t faze her one bit. Belinda Bencic is our Cash with the Flash Best Bets to defeat Donna Vekic on Wednesday.    

MatteoBerrettini (+163) over Gael Monfils(-195) Not Before 1:30 pm ET

This one could go either way, but I think Berrettini is worth a look in this match. Neither player has had a difficult time here, and the draw along with the upsets has made their paths to the quarters much easier.

Berrettini has fired 51 aces at Flushing Meadows and while Monfils is one of the best returners in the game, that service is a HUGE advantage. and more deadly on a day where the forecast is for 95 percent humidity. That makes the court play like its 100 degrees and if you’ve never been on a hardcourt that hot, trust me when I tell you it sucks and the ball flies off the court. Monfils has a LONG history of getting in his own way during big matches and it’s hard to support him against Berrettini. Your Cash with the Flash Best Bets is Matteo Berrettini to defeat Gael Monfils on Wednesday afternoon.
