DFS NHL Blue Line Power Plays March 23rd 2021 Slate Summary
With the Bruins on the COVID-related shelf, their postponement leads us to only five games on the Schedule for this week’s Tuesday night DFS NHL slates.
It’s kind of a DFS NHL funky slate, with one game I’d like to completely avoid, another game we’re all a bit unsure of, and three very obvious stacks to consider. So, we’re going to have to pick through the options, and find the best unique lineup possibilities.

A few high-level thoughts come to mind when I look at this slate:
The Flyers have been dreadful since a COVID-related pause and were BLOWN OUT by the Islanders recently, but they’re playing a vulnerable Devils team on home ice and are likely going to play with a chip on their shoulders. The Flyers could be a sneaky stack.
The Panthers are hot and own the Blackhawks this season.
Stay away from the Red Wings and Predators.
Tampa Bay is an expensive stack, but worth it against the Stars. Ditto for the Avalanche.
Top DFS NHL Goalies
Andrei Vasilevskiy is your top DraftKings play at goalie for both Top and Mid-tier salary. Sergei Bobrovsky is your top value play, but comes with some risk, if the Hawks finally get hot against a Panthers team they can’t seem to beat this season.
For FanDuel, Vas is too expensive for the return, but fortunately Philipp Grubauer is still a top play in this DFS NHL slate, and he happens to be a reasonable price for FanDuel.
Sergei Bobrovsky is also a top mid-tier play for FanDuel, not quite as cheap of a value as he is for DraftKings. But Bob is a solid play for a win and a decent amount of saves against a Blackhawks team who seems to buckle each time they play the Panthers this season.
If you’re really digging for some top value, and can accept the risk, Pekka Rinne is likely the best value for this DFS NHL slate when using FanDuel. In theory, the Predators should beat the Red Wings on home ice in Nashville, but they’ve been a hard team to peg this year.
Top DFS NHL Centers, Wingers, and Defenders
After snagging your goalie, I like to nail down my defenders so I know how much salary I have left to load up on my top center and winger skaters. That’s usually where you get the most points from your lineup, aside from the one goalie play.
In this slate, no matter how you look at it, Victor Hedman is your top play in both DraftKings and FanDuel. Hedman fits nicely with a Bolts stack but, even though he’s expensive, he’s also a great one-off play at defense.
I’d also consider Aaron Ekblad as a top play for DraftKings and a solid mid-salary range value for FanDuel.
Devon Toews also gives you solid mid-tier salary range value, although not quite as high a ceiling for DFS NHL points as Ekblad.
While Jakob Chychrun is a mid-tier play for DraftKings, he’s an absolutely STEAL for FanDuel, and is one of the most consistent DFS NHL plays on defense this season.
Esa Lindell, Duncan Keith, and Damon Severson are a few other value plays options for DraftKings, for defense, and Shayne Gostisbehere is a nice value option for FanDuel.
We’ve already called out the Lightning, Avalanche, and Panthers as top stack plays, along with a sneaky Flyers play mostly for DraftKings. Here is how I’d tier the Center and Winger spots for this DFS NHL slate on Tuesday night…

Top – Aleksander Barkov, Nathan MacKinnon
Mid-Tier – Sean Couturier (DraftKings), Nazem Kadri, Claude Giroux (DraftKings), Kevin Hayes (DraftKings), and Anthony Cirelli (FanDuel)
Value – Ryan Johansen (DraftKings) Erik Haula (FanDuel), Alex Wennberg (FanDuel), and Carl Soderberg (FanDuel)
DFS NHL plays by tier at Winger:
Top – Filip Forsberg (DraftKings), Mikko Rantanen, Gabriel Landeskog (DraftKings), and Jonathan Huberdeau (FanDuel)
Mid-Tier – Jonathan Huberdeau (DraftKings), James van Riemsdyk (DraftKings), Gabriel Landeskog (FanDuel), and Joel Farabee (FanDuel)
Value – Dylan Strome (DraftKings), Joonas Donskoi (DraftKings), Yanni Gourde (FanDuel), and Andre Burakovsky (FanDuel)
Blue Line Power Plays Summary for March 23rd 2021
So with Philipp Grubauer (FD) or Andrei Vasilevskiy (DK) in your lineup for goalie in most cash games, you should start off in good shape. Sergei Bobrovsky and Pekka Rinne are solid moves between the pipes for GPP lineups.
I’m likely going to have Hedman in a D-man spot for all lineups in all formats, but we’ve laid out some other nice options to pair him with.
Your focus for this slate, should be finding ways to stack the Panthers, Lightning, and Avalanche, along with maybe some Flyers for DraftKings.
We dropped in a few one-off plays at each position as well.
