Cash with the Flash Best Bets is a daily sport betting column that you normally must pay to read, and we focus on the sports of Tennis, NBA, and NCAA basketball, baseball, NFL football, boxing and hockey.

With the NBA season beginning Tuesday, we thought we would offer you this NBA Betting Primer that you can refer to throughout the season.

There are several ways to make money betting basketball and you could have a successful NBA and NCAA season if you are willing to put in a little work alongside the tools we have at Win Daily. Let’s get this thing started!!

Bankroll

This is the money you have on account somewhere or in your pocket if you live in a state where sports wagering is legal. Cash with Flash Best Bets has a bankroll of 100 units for hockey this season.

Unit

Think of a unit as cash and a unit is between one and five percent of your total bankroll. If you have a bankroll of $1000 dollars and divide that by two percent, each unit would be worth two dollars and a five-unit bet would cost you 10 bucks. As your bankroll increases, the unit price rises and decreases the same way during inevitable cold streaks.

Bankroll Management

If you aren’t practicing bankroll management or curious as to what that is, Cash with Flash Best Bets published a primer that hopefully answers all your questions and hopefully helps you set up a money management system that works for you.

Slack Chat

Our sports betting slack chat seems to be increasing in participation and that’s a good thing. That channel is available for our Gold and Platinum subscribers and a good way for you to get some one-on-one advice. Usually, someone is there to help with your questions and offer advice if needed.

The Money Line

This is the most popular method and one we’ll sometimes use this season. Tonight’s New Orleans Pelicans-Toronto Raptors money line looks like this.

New Orleans Pelicans +240

Toronto Raptors -290

The Raptors are an overwhelming favorite and it will cost you $290 dollars to win $100 dollars or 2.9 units to win one unit. Conversely, a $100 dollar wager on the Pelicans to win this game would net $240 dollars for every $100 dollar bet.

Cash with Flash Best Bets would suggest avoiding the Raptors money line wager as the risk is far greater than the reward. We won’t be playing the Pelicans tonight but if you feel strongly that New Orleans will win this game, then this is the spot for you.

The Spread Bet

The is the most common way to bet NBA and NCAA hoops and tonights Pelicans-Raptors point spread looks like this;

New Orleans Pelicans +7

Toronto Raptors -7

The Raptors are laying seven points and they will need to win the game by at least seven points to take this game. The juice is usually -110 for both sides of NBA spread bets so a wager on either team would cost you $110 dollars to win $100. Cash with Flash Best Bets suggests playing the Raptors to “cover” or win by seven or more points because we feel this is the most likely outcome but if you feel strongly this game ends closer than seven points than by all means plunk down $110 dollars and play the Pelicans at +7.

Most online books offer opportunities to buy points on the spread and it will look something like this.

If you feel New Orleans can cover +1.5 points, a $100 dollar wager will net $205 dollars and as the Pelicans total climbs, the odds go down considerably. The Raptors being heavily favored will cost $280 dollars and the value rises as the number increases.

A general rule of thumb is to take the Vegas total and bet as close to that number as you can, based on who you think will win and how much that team wins the game by. Cash with the Flash Best Bets likes the Raptors to win by seven points and if we were to suggest anything here, and we’re not, but IF we were, we would lay down $100 dollars that Toronto would win by nine points tonight.

First Half

Most shops also offer opportunities to bet on who will win the first half and that will look something like this;

The lines and subsequent payouts for this game aren’t all that great but if you believe the Pelicans will head to the locker room with a three-point lead or better, a $100 wager will net $105 dollars and anything above this will cost you more to win less. Wagering $100 dollars that Toronto has a halftime lead of 4.5 points or more will win $105 dollars and anything less than three points will cost $135 dollars to win $100.

The Total

This has become a popular bet, especially in NCAA basketball. Vegas will drop a number that reflects what they believe the final combined points total will be and we decide if the game ends over or under their number. Tonight’s Pelicans-Raptors game Total Line looks like this.

Over 231 (-115)

Under 231 (-105)

Cash with Flash Best Bets suggests playing UNDER 231 points as it opened at 227.5 points and jumped to 231.5 points and most Vegas shops offer 231 points. You will need to wager $105 dollars to win $100 and if you think these teams will exceed the total, then wager $115 dollars and play OVER 231 points.

Most online books offer opportunities to buy points on the total and it will look something like this.

As you can see, the payouts on the above are much better but require us to be more specific in the points range of the total. Anything UNDER 229 points is going to provide the most value as will anything OVER 233.5 points, but you must be exact and will really test your NBA handicapping skills. Cash with Flash Best Bets rarely suggests these plays but your mileage may vary.

First Half Totals

Most shops also offer opportunities to bet on the first half total and that will look something like this;

They give us two numbers to shoot at and the most value is UNDER 112.5 points and OVER 119.5 points and it works the same as any other totals wager. Cash with Flash has no opinion on this wager but IF we did, Cash with Flash Best Bets would suggest playing UNDER -110 as that would be consistent with our belief this game will end UNDER 231 points.

Team Prop Bets

Most shops offer team, player and game prop bets and that might look something like this;

You won’t see much of this at Cash with Flash Best Bets but there are players who are very successful making these types of wagers. There are all sorts of options to choose from and the payouts can be hefty. A $100 dollar wager on the Pelicans winning by 21 points or more will pocket $4000 so you can see the allure here.

Parlays and Teasers

Cash with Flash Best Bets usually avoids these types of plays because of the risk involved. A parlay is a group of two or more bets (legs) and all bets must-win for the ticket to pay off. The more bets on the ticket, the more unlikely the ticket will pay off. Have a look at the odds on these wagers;

There’s a reason the payouts get larger as the number of teams increases and there is also a reason lavish sportsbooks and casinos are popping up everywhere, so tread lightly. As previously mentioned, its rare for Cash with Flash Best Bets to recommend a parlay.

I hope you’ve enjoyed this primer. If you can, please share this on social media and please consider subscribing to Win Daily Sports. Win Daily subscribers tailing Cash with Flash Best Bets have won enough to cover the $19.99 monthly subscription fee for the next three years and have enough left over to but their significant other, or themselves, a very expensive present.
