NHL Betting Picks Day 3/17

Welcome to Keith’s NHL Betting Picks Wednesday 3/17 and Happy St. Patrick’s Day. Another undefeated night for The Model going 2-0 with a Lightning shootout winner and the Wild covering -1.5 winning 3-0 over Arizona. Let’s keep it going tonight as we have the luck of the Irish on our side today.

Let’s take a look at the updated profitability and over win percentages for the teams playing today.

To interact with the dashboard click here.

Dashboard Edges

  • Jets Money Line (+100) over the Canadiens
  • Golden Knights Money Line (-230) over the Sharks
  • Kings Puck Line (+1.5, -205) over the Blues

Keep an eye out for Starting Goalies tonight.

My Picks

Jets ML (+100): Winnipeg is coming off a 4-2 loss to Montreal on Monday where they hung around but didn’t seem to have the extra juice. Carey Price has picked up his game in net for the Canadiens lately which has allowed them to put together some wins. I see a bounce back game for Winnipeg tonight and at plus money this provides us some good value.

Oilers ML (+110): The Battle of Alberta has lived up to the hype this year. These teams are about as evenly matched as it gets. Calgary won on Monday 4-3 putting the season series even at 2-2. Look for McDavid and Draisaitl to turn it up tonight and bounce back from Monday’s loss. At plus money this gives a slight edge to Edmonton at the current price which is why we like it tonight.

We’re back with another Wednesday Night Win Daily NHL Article! Tonight we have five competitive games and one that most likely won’t be that competitive. With that in mind, there are a lot of interesting plays on tonight’s medium-sized slate. So, get ready for the newest edition of WinDaily’s Between the Benches! For tonight’s 3/17 NHL slate, for today’s edition, we have a nice 6-game slate that begins at 7 pm ET! Let’s get into it!

Keep in mind!!! FanDuel has updated their NHL tournaments, and they now include two UTIL spots which have replaced two winger spots. DraftKings has stayed the same but don’t forget last season they revamped the scoring and added stats bonuses, so if you’re new to NHL or haven’t played in a while, check out our live stream on the WinDaily YouTube by clicking here and read through the rules on the site of your choice!

3/17 NHL Stack Report

  1. Philadelphia Flyers 1
    Farabee – Couturier – Van Riemsdyk (FanDuel: $18,900 | DraftKings: $19,200)
Here we have ole reliable. Philadelphia’s top line has been a consistent source of points since the line was formed and all three players are getting involved. The more shocking thing is that their prices have remained reasonable. The Flyers are also the favourites with an implied total of 3.2 (among the highest on the slate). They’ll also be going up against Georgiev who’s had some downright embarrassing performances this season. I’d feel very comfortable locking these three in, especially in cash. The last time this line played against Georgiev, they connected for the game-tying goal, expect them to find the scoresheet again tonight.
Ideal Defensive Partner(s): Ivan Provorov (FD: $5,300 | DK: $4,200)
  2. Vegas Golden Knights 1
    Stone – Glass – Pacioretty (FanDuel: $19,000 | DraftKings: $18,400)
    – This line is pretty pricey but Stone and Pacioretty have been playing on another level this season. Because of that they will be uber chalk tonight but if they break the slate they will be necessary to cash. Glass is questionable (really cold as of late) but is always a threat to get points with his linemates. (He could be replaced before the game so stay tuned to the discord for any updates). They have far and away the highest implied total at 3.7, are going up against a weak goalie with weak defence. So many reasons to get behind Vegas one tonight. I’d start any build by considering both Stone and Pacioretty. (Theodore too)
Ideal Defensive Partner: Shea Theodore (FD: $5,800 | DK: $6,300)

Honorable Mention(s): St. Louis Blues 2, Edmonton Oilers 1 (chalk), Calgary Flames 1 (flying high while the opponents are slumping, and they fit with VGK1), Montreal Canadiens 2 (salary saver)

3/17 NHL Goalie Tracker

Best

  1. Marc-Andre Fleury (FD: $8,500 | DK: $8,500)
  2. Thatcher Demko (FD: $7,400 | DK: $8,100)

Honorable Mention(s): Binnington, Hart (both Binnington and Hart probably get the win but have not been playing well at all as of late, stick with the two listed goalies), Markstrom

Worst

  1. Jonathan Quick (FD: $7,200 | DK: $7,300)
Honorable Mention(s): Matt Murray, Devan Dubnyk, Alexander Georgiev

3/17 NHL Wild Card Targets

Tim Stuezle (FD: $4,600 | DK: $4,200)
– The young rookie phenom has been impressing on an abysmal Ottawa team, giving Sens fans hope for the future. Because of that Stuezle’s price is rising, but if he continues on his current trajectory, his price won’t stop rising. He’s produced some very skilled assists as of late and works excellently in a pairing with his linemate Drake Batherson,

Honorable Mention(s): Colin Blackwell, Artemi Panarin

Core Four: (ALWAYS BE STACKIN’)

Centre Sean Couturier (also consider Connor McDavid)

Winger Max Pacioretty

Defence Shea Theodore (Nurse will be in a good spot if Barrie doesn’t play)

Goalie Marc-Andre Fleury (Demko as a salary saver)

NHL Betting Picks Tuesday 3/16

Welcome to Keith’s NHL Betting Picks Tuesday 3/16. Not the best night going 1-2-1 with our only winner being the Flyers. Besides the Jets, it looked like the other 3 plays were going to be winners with the Blackhawks up 3-1 on the Panthers, the Canucks up 2-0 on the Senators, and the Flyers up 2-0 on the Rangers to just squeak out an OT win.

This is what happens when Grad School gets in the way and I have to take a weekend off from hockey. Maybe I’ll drop out (kidding). Let’s take a look at the updated profitability and over win percentages for the teams playing today.

To interact with the dashboard click here.

Dashboard Edges

  • Penguins Money Line (-113) over the Bruins
  • Devils Money Line (-182) AND Puck Line (-1.5, +135) over the Sabres
  • Hurricanes Money Line (-225) over the Red Wings
  • Wild Puck Line (-1.5, +125) over the Coyotes
  • Wild/Coyotes Over 5.5 Goals (+110)
  • Lightning Money Line (-150) AND Puck Line (-1.5, +160) over the Stars
  • Ducks Puck Line (+1.5, -105) over the Avalanche
  • Avalanche Money Line (-295) over the Ducks

Keep an eye out for Starting Goalies tonight. The Lightning should be rolling with Vasilevskiy tonight after playing their backup yesterday which is a huge boost. The Bruins are rolling with Dan Vladar who is making his NHL debut (he technically got a few minutes in the playoffs last year after Halak was pulled against Tampa) but this is his true first taste of NHL action. Monitor those Pittsburgh lines to see what effect that might have.

My Picks

Lightning ML (-150): As mentioned above the Lightning should be rolling with Vas in net tonight. They are 2-0 against the Stars this season and simply don’t lose back-to-back games. Look for Tampa to have a strong performance tonight.

Wild -1.5 (+135): Minnesota has had a very strong year led by rookie phenom Kirill Kaprizov. The Coyotes on the other hand have had a tough go of things and are 1-3-0 against Minnesota this season. All 3 of Minnesota’s victories against Arizona have covered the puck line and we feel good for that trend to continue tonight.

NHL Betting Picks Monday 3/15

Welcome to Keith’s NHL Betting Picks Monday 3/15. After a weekend hiatus we return. Friday was our last day of plays and we went 1-1 with the Avs handling the Kings and the Wild doing all the scoring but only getting 4 goals to miss on our over.

We have 9 games on the slate today including a 4pm tilt between the Predators and Lightning. Let’s take a look at the profitability and over win percentages for the teams playing today.

To interact with the dashboard click here.

Dashboard Edges

  • Lightning Money Line (-315) AND Puck Line (-1.5, -122) over the Predators
  • Blackhawks Puck Line (+1.5, -175) over the Panthers
  • Capitals Money Line (-235) AND Puck Line (-1.5, +100) over the Sabres
  • Jets Money Line (+105) over the Canadiens
  • Oilers Money Line (+100) over the Flames

Keep an eye out for the Starting Goalies today.

My Picks

Free Picks

Canucks -1 (-114): The Senators are coming off a big win against the Maple Leafs last night. The Canucks are a little banged up but we are getting Demko in net. Tough to see the Sens put together back-to-back strong performances. Taking the -1 number to give us some more value from their -177 money line as I believe they will win by more than a goal tonight.

Jets Money Line (+105): Winnipeg is coming off of a great win Saturday against the Leafs while the Canadiens are coming off of a 3-1 loss to the Flames. We get the best possible goalie matchup here (Hellebuyck vs Price). The Jets are +7.2u as an underdog and +3.25u at home whereas the Canadiens are -3.7u as a favorite and -3.6u on the road. The Jets have some momentum and I like them to take care of business tonight.

Premium Pick

Blackhawks Money Line (+160): The Model sees some great value on this play as we are getting the best goalie matchup possible (Lankinen vs Bobrovsky). The Panthers have played well this year but the Blackhawks have also done a good job. And with this value it is too hard to pass up.

Welcome to the NHL DFS Man Advantage for Monday night March 15th! Tonight we have a 9 game slate and it is full of some of the league’s top talent, specifically the dynamic duo from Edmonton

Like I mentioned above we have the Oilers on this slate so we can assume that both Connor McDavid ($9,200/$9,100) and Leon Draisaitl ($8,600/$8,500) will be two of the highest owned players on this slate. I will not tell you to fade them because that wouldn’t be the best idea, but I will tell you that you don’t need to force them in a lineup. If you can fit one (or both) then do it, but if you can make a build you like without them go for it. We have five other games with a 6 O/U and two games with 6.5 (according to DraftKings sportsbook). Both San Jose @ Vegas and Vancouver @ Ottawa have a higher projected total on tonight’s slate.

NHL DFS: Goaltenders

Thatcher Demko ($8,000/$7,000)

Demko has been one of the hottest goalies in the league fantasy-wise of late and DraftKings has priced him up tonight. FanDuel on the other hand continues to show that they have no clue how to price goaltenders. While I like Demko, I don’t think I will be using him on DK (I don’t pay up for goalies), but on FD he is a lock against Ottawa on the second night of a back-to-back. Demko has won 5 of his last 6 starts and has scored over 31 FDFP in each of those 5 wins. In their last 5 games, Ottawa is averaging 36 shots on goal per game.

Kevin Lankinen ($7,100/7,000)/Malcolm Subban ($6,900/$7,000)

Whoever starts tonight for the Blackhawks will probably be where I end up on DraftKings tonight. Neither of the two Chicago netminders has been stellar of late, but Florida has not been racking up the goals either. In their last 10 games, Florida is averaging 32.4 shots on goal per game, but just 2.4 goals per game. With how low these goalies are priced we just need a decent night in net for them to return value. I do think Demko can be the top goalie tonight, but on DK I can use that $1K elsewhere to bolster my forwards and still get solid fantasy output from my goalie.

If you want to play the ownership game, Jacob Markstrom ($7,600/$7,500) against Edmonton is where I would go. Markstrom should have next to no ownership since the majority of people will most likely look to have some exposure to Edmonton with how well they have been playing. I am not saying this is the best way to go tonight, but if you are making multiple lineups and want to hedge that the Oilers don’t go off, Markstrom is a good play.

Other Options: Marc-Andre Fleury ($8,500/$8,400), Ilya Samsonov ($8,400/$8,200), Cal Petersen ($7,400/$7,200), Tristan Jarry ($7,700)

NHL DFS: Slate Overview

As I mentioned in the open, the Sharks/Golden Knights game has a 6.5 O/U for tonight meaning that is where I want to start when looking to build stacks (outside of Edmonton).

San Jose @ Vegas

Vegas ranks first in the league in goals against, but they are allowing over 2 goals per game in their last 5 games. San Jose is scoring over 3 goals per game in their last 5 and I don’t think Fleury shuts the Sharks out tonight. I know Flower did just shut the Sharks out back on March 6th, but I think they net a couple of goals tonight. I am mainly interested in the top line from San Jose of Evander Kane ($6,500/$7,000), Logan Couture ($6,200/$7,400), and Kevin Labanc ($4,300/$4,400). This line is the only one that has been producing regularly for Sharks. In their last 10 games together they have combined for 18 goals and 15 assists.

Other San Jose Options: Tomas Hertl($4,200/$5,800) and Timo Meier ($5,400/$5,600) L2 Mini stack. On defense you can go Brent Burns ($6,800/$6,400), Erik Karlsson ($4,700/4,600), or Mario Ferraro ($3,500/$3,700)

Now, where I really want to look is on the Vegas side of this game. There is a wide variety of options to go with on this side of the game. Obviously, the top line from the Golden Knights is in play as always and is one of the top options, but if you need to save some salary there are other ways to go. Jonathan Marchessault ($5,500/$6,000) is a way to pivot off the chalkier Stephenson and Pacioretty options for a PP1 stack. If you wanted to make a lower-owned PP2 stack from Vegas, Alex Tuch ($5,400/4,800) is my favorite play for that. Both William Karlsson ($4,700/$5,500) and Reilly Smith ($4,400/$4,600) are good skaters to pair with Tuch. Now you can get really different and get a piece of all three of the top lines for Vegas with your PP2 stack and add Mark Stone ($6,000/$7,500) to Tuch and one of Karlsson/Smith. Stone is more of a DK play based on his low salary there compared to FD. On defense with Pietrangelo out, Shea Theodore is the best option, but if you are going PP2, Dylan Coghlan ($3,900/$4,100) is the cheaper defensive option.

Other Stacking Options:

Top Line Stacks:

  • Pittsburgh 1 vs Boston
  • Chicago 1 vs Florida
  • Philadelphia 1 vs NYR
  • Washington 1 vs Buffalo
  • Winnipeg 2 vs Montreal
  • Boston 1 vs Pittsburgh
  • Los Angeles 1 vs St. Louis
  • NYR 2 vs Philadelphia

Top Value Stacks:

  • Winnipeg 3 vs Montreal
  • Philadelphia 2 vs NYR
  • Boston 2 vs Pittsburgh
  • Philadelphia 3 vs NYR
  • Los Angeles 2 vs St. Louis
  • Pittsburgh 2 vs Boston

We’re back with another Saturday Night Win Daily NHL Article! Expect a lot of action tonight, as all of the league’s top players are active! So, get ready for the newest edition of WinDaily’s Between the Benches! For tonight’s 3/13 NHL slate, we have a nice 10-game slate that begins at 7 pm ET!

3/13 NHL Stack Report

(Lock-In Either TOR 1 or EDM 1)

  1. Washington Capitals 1
    Ovechkin – Backstrom – Oshie (FanDuel: $20,500 | DraftKings: $18,900)
Even though Ovi was the only player on this line to see the score sheet last game, tonight, all three are in a prime position to jump all over the defensively flawed Philadelphia Flyers. Their defence has been so bad as of late, and they haven’t been getting bailed out by their goaltending as they usually do. Carter Hart has been absolute dog water this season (.888 SV% and a 3.61 GAA), and it’s time for us to exploit his weak performances. Both teams have implied totals around 3 three goals, but I see one team on a three-game win streak and the other losing three of their last four. Momentum is definitely on Washington’s side. Not to mention Ovi has had an insane oZS% (Offensive Zone Start %) at 70.1%, he’s almost exclusively being played in the offensive zone, and that’s where we like him playing.
Ideal Defensive Partner(s): John Carlson (FD: $6,400 | DK: $6,100)
  2. San Jose Sharks 1
    E. Kane – Couture – Labanc (FanDuel: $18,700 | DraftKings: $18,100)
    – The Sharks are simply in a tremendous matchup against the Ducks tonight. Although both sides suffer from questionable defences, the Ducks are the only side in this matchup with a questionable offence. On the other hand, the Sharks have a bonafide top line with three talented pieces that will surely give Miller trouble all night long. The expected totals aren’t too high in this game, but both teams are allowing well over 3 goals a game, while Miller played last night as the Sharks put five past Gibson forcing Eakins to pull him midway through the third expect a similar performance out of the Sharks tonight.
Ideal Defensive Partner: Brent Burns (E. Karlsson also works) (FD: $6,200 | DK: $7,100)

Honorable Mention(s): Toronto Maple Leafs 1, Edmonton Oilers 1, Pittsburgh Penguins 2, Chicago Blackhawks 1, Tampa Bay Lightning 1

3/13 NHL Goalie Tracker

Best

  1. Andrei Vasilevskiy (FD: $8,500 | DK: $8,500)
  2. Kevin Lankinen (FD: $7,200 | DK: $7,100)

Honorable Mention(s): Martin Jones, Semyon Varlamov, Logan Thompson, Mackenzie Blackwood, Ilya Samsonov

Worst

  1. Carter Hutton (FD: $6,800 | DK: $7,500)
Honorable Mention(s): Pekka Rinne, Ryan Miller, Ville Husso, Carter Hart

3/13 NHL Wild Card Targets

Zach Hyman (FD: $4,900 | DK: $4,800)
Finally!! Hyman is back on Toronto’s top line with Marner and Matthews. The line with so much success last season and earlier this season is finally reunited, making Hyman an extremely strong value play, especially since Hyman has been killing it in his own right on the third line. I was considering having Hyman in this section when he was slated to start on the third line, but I had to lock him in with today’s news. Let’s get it!!!

Honorable Mention(s): Nikolaj Ehlers, Tomas Hertl, Kasperi Kapanen, Joel Farabee, Kailer Yamamoto

Core Four: (ALWAYS BE STACKIN’)

Centre Auston Matthews (also consider Connor McDavid)

Winger Zach Hyman (also consider Kasperi Kapanen)

Defence Brent Burns

Goalie Kevin Lankinen

NHL Betting Picks Friday 3/12

Welcome to Keith’s NHL Betting Picks Friday 3/12. A 3-0 night for The Model, and we added Blackhawks ML late to take us to 4-0. Nights like these are why we do this. Penguins handled the Sabres, the Flyers and Caps might still be scoring goals, and the Flames had the energy of their new coach carry them to victory.

We have 5 games on the slate today let’s take a look at the updated profitability and over win percentages for the teams playing tonight.

To interact with the dashboard click here.

Dashboard Edges

  • Wild Puck Line (-1.5, +133) over the Coyotes
  • Golden Knights Puck Line (-1.5, +215) over the Blues
  • Oilers Money Line (-265) over the Senators
  • Sharks Money Line (-120) over the Ducks
  • Kings Puck Line (+1.5, -136) over the Avalanche

Keep an eye out for Starting Goalies tonight. Some interesting goalie situations today. Vegas will be without Marc-Andre Fleury after he landed on the COVID list and Robin Lehner is also still injured. The Kings are also probably rolling Troy Grosenick again after his first NHL action since 2014 on Wednesday.

My Picks

Free Picks

Avalanche -1 (-148): As mentioned above the Kings look likely to roll with Grosenick again, who did play well on Wednesday although against a weak scoring Ducks team. He faces a much stronger opponent with significant offensive firepower in the Avs today, which is why we are taking them here.

Wild/Coyotes Over 5.5 Goals (+115): Anytime you get plus money on an over of 5.5 you have to take a second look and understand why you are getting plus money there. The Wild are averaging 5.69 total goals and the Coyotes 5.37. However both of these teams hit their over greater than 50% of the time (Minnesota 62.5% and Arizona 57.7%). With both backup goalies projected I am taking the over here

NHL Betting Picks Thursday 3/11

Welcome to Keith’s NHL Betting Picks Thursday 3/11. Just how we drew it up, a 2-0 bounce back night for The Model. Full disclosure, when it was announced Kings goalie Cal Petersen was put on the COVID Protocol List and they were starting someone who hasn’t played an NHL game since 2014 (!!) I almost jumped ship and hedged with the Ducks. But I rode with Troy Grosenick to the promised land. Montreal also easily took care of the Canucks, both games won 5-1, and now we are on to Thursday.

We have 10 games on the slate tonight let’s take a look at the updated profitability and over win percentage for the teams playing tonight.

To interact with the dashboard click here.

Dashboard Edges

  • Jets Puck Line (+1.5, -175) over the Maple Leafs
  • Panthers Money Line (-136) over the Blue Jackets
  • Penguins Money Line (-205) over the Sabres
  • Capitals/Flyers Over (6.5, +100)
  • Hurricanes Money Line (-235) over the Predators
  • Islanders Puck Line (-1.5, +135) over the Devils
  • Rangers Puck Line (+1.5, -162) over the Bruins
  • Lightning Money Line (-335) over the Red Wings

Keep an eye out for Starting Goalies. Shoutout to my buddy @JoePucks for getting me hip to -1 lines. They offer similar value to betting on regulation, but you push on a OT/SO win instead of losing the bet. You also push on a 1 goal win in regulation as opposed to winning the bet if you take regulation but that is the trade-off when placing this bet.

My Picks

Free Picks

Penguins -1 (-137): The Penguins are the significantly better team. The Sabres played a close game with the Flyers on Tuesday, but when re-watching the game I saw a lot to be desired from the Sabres defensively and I see the Penguins exposing that tonight. Look for Crosby, Malkin and company to run over Buffalo without Jack Eichel.

Flyers/Capitals Over 6 Goals (-125): These two teams hit their overs at an extremely high rate, the two highest over win percentage teams on the slate tonight. They are third and fourth overall in total goals this year (6.25 and 6.23). There is nothing to suggest that will change today, let’s hope to get some good bounces and get that over.

Premium Pick

Flames ML (-113): The Canadiens are probably a slightly better team at this point with Jake Allen in net who has been playing above expectations this year. However the Flames are fully rested (Canadiens played last night) and are playing their first game with their new coach. That energy is something I believe will push them over the edge and get them the victory tonight.

NHL Betting Picks Wednesday 3/10

Welcome to Keith’s NHL Betting Picks Wednesday 3/10. Last night was a tough one for The Model. A donut. An 0-fer. Losing all 3 picks. It happens, it’s hockey, we move on. Still highly profitable this year and we will stick to the process. The Lightning and Flyers did end up winning, just both in the overtime period which meant losers on both of those bets.

We have 5 games tonight let’s take a look at the profitability and over win percentage for the teams playing tonight.

To interact with the dashboard click here.

Dashboard Edges

  • Wild Puck Line (+1.5, -286) over the Golden Knights
  • Kings Money Line (-121) over the Ducks
  • Canadiens Puck Line (-1.5, +170) over the Canucks

Keep an eye out for Starting Goalies tonight. We have a few games here where it is the second of a back-to-back between evenly matched teams so we might try to take the loser of the first game as that has been relatively profitable trend this season.

My Picks

Free Pick

Kings ML (-123): The Ducks are coming off a 6-5 OT win against the Kings on Monday. The Ducks simply do not score this season, so do not expect that kind of output tonight. The Kings are 0-1-1 against the Ducks this season but have stronger underlying numbers so I expect them to get the victory here tonight.

Premium Pick

Canadiens -1.5 (+170): This is a little bit of a risky play but I really like the value here. The Habs are coming off a 2-1 shootout loss to the Canucks on Monday. They are 4-0-2 against the Canucks this year with all 4 victories coming by 2+ goals. They need a rebound game tonight and the puck line value is too good to pass up.

Welcome to the NHL DFS Man Advantage for Wednesday night March 10th! Tonight we have a 5 game slate that is practically a carbon copy of the slate we saw on Monday night.

When we have slates like this, repeats of the same from two nights previous, I like to look back and see if there is anything that stands out. What I see is that Anaheim and Los Angeles played a high-scoring old-school game, which is not the norm for these teams so we shouldn’t expect this again tonight. We also saw Vegas get shutout and that has only happened once this season so it is also unlikely to happen again. Lastly, we saw Connor McDavid ($9,300/$8,800) have a multi-point game, which we CAN expect again seeing as he has done that 13 times this season already.

NHL DFS: Goaltenders

Carey Price ($7,800/$7,700)

Price is my top option tonight and he works on both sites and in both cash and GPP games as well. Vancouver may have beaten the Canadiens on Monday night but they didn’t do it with offense. Price stopped 28 of 29 shots and lost 2-1 in a shootout. Over their last 10 games, Vancouver is allowing over 30 saves P/G, scoring just over 2 goals P/G, and allowing opposing goaltenders to score over 20 FP P/G. If Jake Allen ($7,600/$7,700) starts tonight he is just as good of an option as Price.

Los Angeles Kings @ Anaheim Ducks

Even though both goalies from the Ducks and Kings game got lit up like the Rockefeller Christmas tree on Monday night I am going right back to the well with this game and the goaltenders. I am going to guess we see Cal Petersen ($7,500/$7,200) and John Gibson ($7,500/$6,700) in the net for their respective teams tonight. Both have been good fantasy options, especially Gibson at his extremely low price on FanDuel. I am not afraid to go back to these goalies, and neither should you.

Other Options: Marc-Andre Fleury ($8,100/$8,500), Philip Grubauer ($8,200/$8,300), Mikko Koskinen ($8,300/$8,000), Kappo Kahkonen ($7,400/7,500)

NHL DFS: Slate Overview

Even on a small late like we have tonight we still have some big names to use. I already mentioned McDavid, but that also means we have Leon Draisaitl ($8,100/$7,900) on the slate. Draisaitl has been cold of late for his standards and hasn’t had a multi-point game since 2/23 against Vancouver. This season in five games against Ottawa, the reigning league MVP has 3 goals, 7 assists, 13 shots on goal, and is averaging over 17 fantasy points per game, so maybe Wednesday is the night Draisaitl gets out of this “slump”. Nathan MacKinnon ($8,700/$8,300) should be returning for the Avs tonight and might be the lower owned of the studs tonight. I love playing the Vegas top line, but I believe Max Pacioretty ($8,200/$8,100) is a little overpriced tonight and I may shy away from using him in any Vegas stacks.

Stacking Options:

Obviously, both the top lines from Edmonton and Colorado are in play whenever they are on a slate, and the same generally goes for Vegas. We need to wait and see if Mark Stone ($6,100/$7,400) is back for Vegas, but like I said I don’t think I want a Vegas 1 stack tonight.

One of my favorite stacks tonight is once again Montreal Canadiens 3. We saw them get shut down by Vancouver on Monday, and while the Canucks have been good defensively of late during their 3 game win streak, that is not their specialty. I know eventually the Canucks will turn back into a pumpkin and give up a 4 or 5 spot, so why not tonight. Tyler Toffoli ($7,000/$6,600) has torched the Canucks this season to the tune of 8 goals, 3 assists, and 29 shots on goal in 6 games. Vancouver boasts the league’s worst penalty kill, allows the most penalties, and is 30th in the league in goals against. I am going back to the well again tonight with the Canadiens stack.(Josh Anderson ($5,500/$4,800)/Jesperi Kotkaniemi ($3,400/$3,900)

If you don’t think Fleury has a good night, or the Golden Knights decide to go with their backup the Minnesota Wild have a couple of good lines to look at. Most people will flock to their top line, and while I still believe in them, it’s their new second line that has been getting it done (and they are cheap!). The combination of Jordan Greenway ($3,200/$4,200)/Joel Eriksson Ek ($5,000/$4,700)/Marcus Foligno ($3,300/$3,700) has been on fire over their last five games.

Outside of the lines mentioned above, here a couple more line stacks I am interested in:

  1. Edmonton 2
  2. Los Angeles 1
  3. Vancouver 2

Value Stack Options:

  1. Ottawa 3
  2. Anaheim 2 and 3
  3. Vegas 2 (borderline value)
