NFL DFS GPP

To quote the great Michael Rasile, “It’s a great day to be alive.” NFL DFS GPP season is here and it’s time for us to stay hot. We’ve absolutely smashed Weeks One, Two, and Three… and will continue to do so this week! For those who haven’t read it yet, please check out the Week 4 Cash Game Checkdown for your bankroll sustaining, cash game build advice.

In addition, I would strongly advise reading my NFL DFS Strategy article I published this offseason, before diving into the 2020 NFL DFS season. If you have any questions or would like some further help when building your lineups, please do not hesitate to reach out to me directly on Twitter.

For those looking to get different and make a splash in some GPPs, the time is now. We’ll usually be taking some heavy stances on lower-ownership players, but at times, there is certainly good “chalk” to eat. Let’s get into it.

Please note, everyone on our cheatsheet and the Cash Game Checkdown are also in play for GPPs. This is more to uncover some players people are not talking about… and they should be.

*This week, due to crazy amounts of work and late week cancellations/injuries, I’m just going to list out the players I have interest in. Be sure to tune in to the Sunday NFL Livestream tomorrow morning at 11AM EST for further explanations*

NFL DFS GPP Quarterbacks

  • DeShaun Watson – Great for cash, great for GPPs. He’s going to be popular, but we’ve been picking on this Minnesota defense all season long. No need to stop now.
  • Josh Allen – not much to say, he’s been going nuts and this Las Vegas defense does not scare me away from Allen at all. I do question Vegas’ ability to keep this one close, but Allen is always in play.
  • Matthew Stafford – there’s simply no one healthy in this New Orleans’ secondary. Lattimore and Jenkins are both out and somehow that leads to PJ Williams being their top corner. Yikes.
  • Kyler Murray – Everyone wanted to jam him in last week but now no one is playing him against 28th ranked defense in pass defense DVOA?
  • Joe Burrow – Zac Taylor’s offense throws the ball over 45 times a game… Jacksonville is ranked dead last in pass defense DVOA. All of the Bengals pass-catchers are healthy. Let’s go Joe for NFL DFS GPP lineups.

Honorable Mention: Russell Wilson, Kirk Cousins

Running Backs

  • Alvin Kamara – don’t care about his ownership. The dude is the only offensive weapon on this New Orleans’ offense posting a 7.5 reception prop… That’s wonderful. It’s hard to fade this guy in any lineup.
  • Dalvin Cook – On the other side of Houston stacks, it makes a lot of sense to roster the lead back in one of the most potent running schemes in the NFL.
  • Nick Chubb – Not sure this game actually shoots out at all. Chubb is always in my player pool… even more so if Hunt misses this game.
  • Josh Jacobs – The Raiders don’t have many other weapons healthy in this offense right now. Jacobs’ workload is likely to be second to nobody against the Bills’ defense that ranks 26th in run defense DVOA.
  • Jonathan Taylor – I mention it every week, you can run all over Chicago. Taylor’s price is in an awkward spot with Henderson and Drake below him, but I’ll have a lineup or two with Taylor.
  • Darrell Henderson Jr. – 13-point home favorite. The Giants have actually been rather stout against the run, but with no Akers, I’ll trust the talent and the Vegas numbers.
  • Kenyan Drake – he’s a running back going up against the Panthers… don’t get too cute and forget about him.

Honorable Mention: Joe Mixon, David Montgomery, Devin Singletary

Wide Receivers

  • DeAndre Hopkins – Ownership projections for ~5%? I know he’s questionable, but if he’s a go tomorrow, you’ll need some Hopkins.
  • DK Metcalf / Tyler Lockett – they’re the top WRs on this slate in a cake matchup.
  • Mike Evans – Always interested in a sub-10% owned Mike Evans. Chris Godwin is out, so Evans should be heavily relied on.
  • Kenny Golladay – see Stafford writeup.
  • Jarvis Landry
  • CeeDee Lamb
  • Will Fuller / Brandin Cooks / Randall Cobb – see writeup on Watson.
  • Tyler Boyd / AJ Green
  • Justin Jefferson
  • Hunter Renfrow

NFL DFS GPP Tight Ends

  • Mark Andrews
  • Mike Gesicki
  • Logan Thomas
  • Evan Engram

Good luck to all this week in your NFL DFS GPP lineups! Make sure to tune into the Livestream for in-depth reviews of each game and all of the plays above.

To quote the great Michael Rasile, “It’s a great day to be alive.” NFL DFS GPP season is here and it’s time to rock and roll. For those who haven’t read it yet, please check out the Week 1 Cash Game Checkdown for your bankroll sustaining, cash game build advice.

In addition, I would strongly advise giving my NFL DFS Strategy article I published this offseason before diving into the 2020 NFL DFS season.

General GPP Note:
Everyone and their brother is going to be using DeSean Jackson/Marvin Jones/Boston Scott/Davante Adams. I will rarely have a lineup with more than one of those players this week. Do not stack up that chalk and expect to be different unless you mix in some incredibly low-owned upside elsewhere.

Quarterbacks

  1. Aaron Rodgers ($6,800 DK / $8,100 FD) – Rodgers is going completely under the radar this weekend against arguably one of the worst secondaries in the NFL (on paper). The AETY Model has him projected for ~270 passing yards and this matchup grades as good as it did for Rodgers since Week 7 of last year against Oakland… Go look at that box score.

Rodgers is likely to be in my main lineup and we can obviously pair him up with Davante Adams (maybe even Lazard and/or Aaron Jones). Use Dalvin Cook on the back-end for a little game stack.
    AETY Projection: 18.35 Points
  2. Mitch Trubisky ($5,400 DK / $6,900 FD) – Even Vegas player props have Trubisky projected for over 250 passing yards, lol. Trubisky has great history against Detroit and their man-coverage. I’ve been talking about him as a value all week and will have plenty of exposure.

    Stack Options: Miller/Robinson, Miller/Graham, Robinson/Graham, Robinson/Cohen, Miller/Cohen.
    AETY Projection: 17.44 Points
  3. Russell Wilson ($7,000 DK / $8,400 FD) – This is the nuts matchup for Russell Wilson. I don’t really care what ownership is, I’ll have a lot of him.

    Stack Options: Metcalf/Lockett, Lockett/Carson, Metcalf/Carson
    AETY Projection: 21.86 Points

Honorable Mention: Derek Carr, Cam Newton, Lamar Jackson (obviously), Josh Allen

NFL DFS GPP: Running Backs

  1. Dalvin Cook ($7,900 DK / $8,700 FD) – See the Cash Game Checkdown for write-up. I love him this weekend.
    AETY Projection: 20.19 DK / 18.46 FD
  2. Aaron Jones ($6,900 DK / $7,800 DK) – Aaron Jones loves playing the Minnesota Vikings, averaging over 133 all-purpose yards in their last three meetings. I love Rodgers. I love Jones. I love this low owned combination paired up with a chalky (rightfully so), Davante Adams.
    AETY Projection: 16.52 DK / 14.92 FD
  3. Todd Gurley ($6,100 DK / $7,100 FD) – He’s just too cheap and a great opportunity to get exposure to a high-total game where everyone is playing these wide receivers. There is no threat behind Gurley regarding snap count, so Atlanta is likely to ride him. Gurley will get it done on Sunday at sub-10% ownership.

Chris Carson on the other side is also a very nice, low-owned option for contrarian exposure to this shoot-out.
    AETY Projection: 17.60 DK / 15.74 FD
  4. Nick Chubb ($6,500 DK / $7,500 FD) – You have all heard me praise this Stefanski outside-zone running scheme, so it should be no surprise that I’m into Chubb this week. No one is going to play him despite having an improved offensive line and dominating on a weekly basis in 2019. He’s going to get a lot of touches and we just need to hope talent and scheme outweigh a great defense.
    AETY Projection: 14.43 DK / 13.53 FD
  5. Raheem Mostert ($5,800 DK / $6,200 FD) – I’m not a believer in Arizona’s defense just yet and always want some exposure for the late-hammer in the afternoon games. I trust Shanahan’s outside-zone run scheme to take over and run away with this game. If Tevin Coleman has to miss this game due to the air quality, Mostert could offer your lineups some strong, late-upside.
    AETY Projection: 13.50 DK / 12.83 FD
  6. Matt Breida ($5,000 DK / $5,200 FD) – I’ll keep this one simple. Breida is going to be sub-3% owned in a gamescript where the Dolphins will be chasing points. Jordan Howard won’t be involved in the “playing catch-up” scheme. Breida is going to hit 2-3x value in our NFL DFS GPP lineups, with over 60 all-purpose yards. If he can get in the box, he can be a difference maker in GPPs and an excellent pivot off of Boston Scott/Antonio Gibson chalk.
    AETY Projection: 11.26 DK / 9.69 FD

Honorable Mention: Joe Mixon, Mark Ingram, Tarik Cohen

*Keep in mind, you do-not need to use two pass catchers with your Quarterbacks. Just wanted to give you some of the options I’ll be using.

Wide Receivers

  1. Keenan Allen ($6,400 DK / $7,000 FD) – If Mike Williams misses this game, Keenan Allen is going to be busy in what should be one of the higher-paced games on the slate.
    AETY Projection: 15.70 DK / 12.46 FD
  2. DJ Moore ($6,600 DK / $7,100 FD) – Everyone in the industry absolutely loved DJ Moore ALL OFF-SEASON long, but no one wants to play him in a plus-matchup against a rookie cornerback and Trayvon Mullen? I don’t get it, lol. The industry is full of frauds if DJ Moore is truly under 10% owned. Load him up.
    AETY Projection: 15.11 DK / 12.09 FD
  3. DJ Chark ($6,300 DK / $6,600 FD) – The Jaguars are going to be playing catch-up from the get-go on Sunday. Chark is likely to see a 30% market share of the passes from Gardnew Minshew and that’s all I need to know. This team is going to be awful all year long, but no one in the Colts’ secondary can contain Chark.
    AETY Projection: 14.85 DK / 12.12 FD
  4. Anthony Miller ($5,000 DK / $5,400 FD) – I won’t eat DeSean Jackson chalk so Anthony Miller is likely to be my pivot. This dude can run crisp routes and tear apart man-coverage that Detroit is likely to throw at him. We probably will have a lot of Marvin Jones for value and one of Miller/Robinson are perfect candidates to pair on the other side.
    AETY Projection: 11.34 DK / 9.11 FD

Honorable Mention: Tyler Boyd, Preston Williams, Emmanuel Sanders, Kendrick Bourne, Curtis Samuel, Allen Lazard, Henry Ruggs, Jalen Reagor, Trent Taylor

NFL DFS GPP: Tight Ends

  1. Mark Andrews ($6,000 DK / $7,400 FD) – He may not be under the radar by any means, but no one has the ceiling Andrews does against Cleveland this Sunday. He’s always in play and isn’t priced up where he should be.
    AETY Projection: 14.32 DK / 11.94 FD
  2. TJ Hockenson ($4,200 DK / $5,300 FD) – No Golladay = A lot of target share to open up on Sunday. As everyone flocks to Marvin Jones (don’t get me wrong, I’ll have some too), I prefer moving down to Hockenson as I’m expecting a big opportunity in his favor. The AETY Model loves his chances of getting in the end-zone and he makes for an excellent NFL DFS GPP target.
    AETY Projection: 11.53 / 9.42
  3. Mike Gesicki ($4,500 DK / $5,400 FD) – Miami will be chasing points. New England’s linebackers cannot keep up with Gesicki. He’s probably my favorite GPP tight-end and someone I’ll always have on the other side of my Cam Newton stacks.
    AETY Projection: 8.65 DK / 6.97 FD

Honorable Mention: Ian Thomas, Hunter Henry, Dallas Goeddert, Jimmy Graham

We always discuss “getting contrarian” in NFL DFS so it’s about time we posted an article to arm you with some NFL DFS Sleepers. Whether you’re eating or fading this weeks’ chalky plays, here are some players that may help you differentiate in NFL DFS GPP tournaments.

If you read the article and have any questions, please do not hesitate to reach out to me directly on Twitter or sign up for Premium Gold to join our Discord channel.

Like usual, it’s another great week to use 50% or more of your bankroll towards single entry cash games. Please check out my Cash Game Checkdown before you set your DFS lineups for Sunday.

The purpose of this weekly article is to identify players in positive situations that the public may be overlooking in NFL DFS. If you’re going to be playing a lot of chalky players like Le’Veon Bell, Alvin Kamara, Julio Jones, Michael Thomas and some other players with ~30% ownership in Week 12, it’s never a bad idea to find a player or two that will help differentiate your lineup from the rest of the field. Look no further than Stick’s Sleepers.

Week 12 – Stick’s NFL DFS Sleepers

Mitch Trubisky (DK $5,100 / FD $7,000)

Typing out Trubisky’s name almost made me sick, but here he is. This is a much more optimal play for DraftKings at that price tag – so please don’t fire him up like crazy on FanDuel at $7k.

First off, the Giants’ pass defense ranks 28th in DVOA – yikes. If you take out the Week Four game against the Redskins, the Giants’ have given up 28.89 points per game – which is among the worst in the NFL.

In addition to that, this team is giving up and average of ~23 DraftKings’ points per week to opposing QBs (and ~47 to opposing receiving cores) over the past month! Trubisky’s pass attempts (and execution) haven’t really been there on a consistent basis, but if the Giants’ can score some points in this game, Trubisky should have no issues carving up their secondary and finishing around 20 DraftKings’ points – which would put him at 4x value (on DraftKings) at ~2% ownership.

Trubisky isn’t going to break the slate, but you can easily stack him with Allen Robinson or Taylor Gabriel and barely make a dent in your lineup’s salary cap.

Saquon Barkley (DK $7,900 / FD 7,900) & Golden Tate (DK $5,700 / FD $6,400)

No, Saquon Barkley is not a “sleeper” but in Week 12, he’s going to be under 12% owned… I’m in. I clearly am okay with pairing up Trubisky and a Bears’ wide receiver in my NFL DFS GPPs this week and I really like the idea of running it back with Saquon Barkley and/or Golden Tate.

Tate has a matchup against Buster Skrine in the slot and should have no issues tearing him up. Evan Engram is out with injury again and it just so happens that Tate has had his best games of the season in both games Engram.

Week Six: 6 catches – 102 yards – 1 TD
Week 10: 4 catches – 95 yards – 2 TDs

Tate is going to be the most targeted player in the Giants’ passing game and should continue to thrive in Engram’s absence. You can game-stack Trubisky-Robinson-Barkley-Tate and still have plenty of salary left over for guys like Kamara and Julio Jones.

Kenny Golladay (DK $6,600 / FD $7,800)

Kenny Golladay at 3-5% ownership is something I’ll always be interested in. I don’t love the chemistry with Jeff Driskel, but I’m not afraid of it in a GPP format. In terms of “blow-up potential”, Golladay certainly has that (so does Marvin Jones, so this isn’t a lock play by any means) and that is something I look for when adding players into my GPP player pool.

Golladay should see a decent amount of Josh Norman in coverage and that is a matchup I know Golladay can exploit. Can Driskel get him the ball in areas where he can make big plays? I’ll take that risk this week.

Chris Conley (DK $4,100 / FD $5,700)

Conley hit value for us last week in the inaugural Stick’s Sleepers article and he finds his way back into it this week. Conley may not have 20+ point upside, but I have projected for right around 13 DraftKings’ points. I pick on LeShaun Sims as much as possible in DFS and that is the matchup Conley will have most of the day on Sunday. If he can find his way into the end-zone, Conley should make for a nice salary-saving, contrarian GPP play.

NFL DFS Sleepers – Honorable Mention

  • Ben Watson (DK $3,100 / FD $5,300)
  • Tim Patrick (DK $3,000 / FD $5,300)
  • D.K. Metcalf (DK $6,300 / FD $6,700)
  • David Montgomery (DK $5,500 / FD $6,600)
  • Jaylen Samuels (DK $7,200 / FD $6,900)

Week 12 wasn’t as good as I would have liked it to be. We were on a hot run there for a while with our NFL DFS GPP entries based off of the main stacks on this article, but you can’t win them all. I love the way this Week 12 slate is shaping up, so let’s get right to it.

The purpose of this weekly article is to identify team/game stacks that we are going to use for an NFL DFS GPP. For those of you that don’t know, a “team stack” is simply multiple players from the same team (I rarely ever use more than three players on a given team).

A “game stack” is similar, except we are going to use players from both teams in a given game. Focusing on team stacks and game stacks is incredibly useful in the NFL DFS GPP environment. That being said, let’s get to this week’s top NFL DFS stacks for DraftKings!

Top NFL DFS GPP Game Stacks

Tampa Bay Buccaneers @ Atlanta Falcons (-4) O/U (51)

This game in Atlanta looks to be the only game on the slate with a total higher than 48 points. I’m sure it will be extremely popular, but for good reason. Both of these defenses are pass funnels and both of these defenses rank towards the bottom of the NFL in pass defense DVOA. This game should host a lot of fireworks for DFS players.

The best part about getting exposure to this game is that we know who is going to be involved in the fantasy point production.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers

  • Chris Godwin ($7,200)
  • Mike Evans ($7,300)
  • Jameis Winston ($6,200)
  • Scotty Miller ($3,100) – Not sure what to think about Scotty Miller. Let’s classify him as an absolute punt-play who we should probably wait on. Week 11 was only the second time all year he cracked 50% of the snaps.

Atlanta Falcons

  • Julio Jones ($8,000)
  • Matt Ryan ($6,700)
  • Calvin Ridley ($6,500)

Seattle Seahawks @ Philadelphia Eagles (-2) O/U (48)

No longer interested in this game stack. Pivoting to Miami @ Cleveland. Will have some exposure to both teams, but will be underweight here.

The second game that I’m interested in stacking is going to be in Philadelphia. I’m undecided on what I think the pace of this game will play at, but there are plenty of playmakers in this game that should make for a nice game stack. Keep an eye on the status of Tyler Lockett as he is clearly one of the most appealing targets to use in DFS from this matchup.

Top NFL DFS GPP Team Stacks

Cleveland Browns

I didn’t think I’d ever write-up the Cleveland Browns, but they are currently sitting with a 28-point implied total and obviously have a lot of negativity going around in the media. This should be a statement game. This should be a game where Baker Mayfield and the Browns offense go off.

Miami ranks 32nd in pass defense DVOA and 29th against the run. As of now, this is my favorite stack to invest in outside of Tampa Bay @ Atlanta.

  • Odell Beckham ($7,000)
  • Jarvis Landry ($6,300)
  • Nick Chubb ($8,100)
  • Baker Mayfield ($5,900)
  • Kareem Hunt ($5,600)

Miami Dolphins

I definitely don’t love the Dolphins by any means, but I do like this game’s chances at going well over the total of 45.5 points. Cleveland should be able to score at will and this Cleveland defense is banged up. Miami should be able to push the pace here and put up points.

  • DeVante Parker ($5,200)
  • Mike Gesicki ($3,400)
  • Ryan Fitzpatrick ($5,000)
  • Allen Hurns ($3,300)
  • Kalen Ballage ($4,400) – Not high on him at all.
  • Patrick Laird ($3,400) – Punt play.

Detroit Lions

If you’re looking for some salary relief that offers a lot of upsides, give the Lions a serious look in your large-field GPPs. The Lions currently have an implied total of 23 points and rising. I probably won’t use three Lions in the same lineup, but I have a lot of interest in Kenny Golladay this week who should see a lot of Josh Norman.

  • Kenny Golladay ($6,600) – Top Five GPP WR play for me this week (assuming he’s around 5-8% ownership).
  • Jeff Driskel ($5,500)
  • Marvin Jones Jr. ($6,100)
  • T.J. Hockenson ($6,100)
  • Bo Scarbrough ($4,200) – Not very interested in stacking Scarbrough with Driskel, but could pair him with Detroit’s defense if you want to roll the dice on playing him. Probably better off using him on FanDuel if you want to take this risk.
  • Detroit Lions DST ($3,100)

Chicago Bears

The Bears are a mess, there is no getting around that. They will be incredibly low owned and have a very nice matchup against a Giants’ team that has allowed 25 or more points in all but one game all year (and that was the Redskins). It’s disgusting, but if Trubisky is healthy, I’ll be over the field in ownership with the Bears. They are a nice salary relief spot to afford other studs in your GPP lineup.

I’ll most likely throw in one of Golden Tate, Darius Slayton, Evan Engram, or Saquon Barkley on the other side of my Bears stacks.

  • Allen Robinson ($6,500)
  • Taylor Gabriel ($4,200)
  • Mitch Trubisky ($5,100)
  • David Montgomery ($5,500)
  • Tarik Cohen ($4,800)
  • Anthony Miller ($3,500)

NFL DFS GPP – Sample Lineup

QB: Mitch Trubisky
RB: Saquon Barkley
RB: Alvin Kamara
WR: Odell Beckham Jr.
WR: Calvin Ridley
WR: Anthony Miller
TE: Vance McDonald
FLEX: Golden Tate
DST: Denver Broncos
