We are back for another two-game NBA slate here today, with the Milwaukee Bucks looking to avenge a questionable ending to a Game 2 loss and the Houston/LA series making its debut. Although it is technically not a must-win from an elimination standpoint, Milwaukee’s backs are up against the wall – does this make people flock to Giannis even more so than before, or do they expect his struggles from Games 1 and 2 to continue? If people are jamming multiple studs, where is the value to be had considering both teams in the West run tight rotations? There are a lot of decisions to be made on a slate like this, and it is not as obvious as prior ones; let’s get to it.

The Lock: Anthony Davis, PF ($11,200 FD / $10,600 DK)

With so many viable studs on the slate, AD is the guy I want the most shares of. Going up against PJ Tucker (yes, I am laughing as I type this), AD should feast all series long; in two prior matchups versus Houston this season, AD averages 24.5/12.5/3/1.5/2 across 35 MPG, good for 51.4 DK PPG. While both he and LeBron are running the NBA playoffs with a 30% usage rate apiece, I expect the Lakers to rely on AD to take this series for them and exploit every matchup he sees.

The Core Gems

Goran Dragic, PG ($7,200 FD / $7,000 DK)

Until his price reaches 8k or more, I will continue playing Gordan Dragic on these two-game NBA slates all day long. Averaging 39.4 DK PPG in the playoffs, Dragic has scored 20 or more points in all six of the Heat’s playoffs games thus far to go along with 4.5 rebounds and 4.83 assists per game. While his primary scoring option is typically to drive the basket, something that is not easy against Milwaukee with Giannis and Brook Lopez guarding the paint, Dragic has been relying on his 3-point shot and mid-range game to contribute offensively; he makes for an elite option in the mid-range across both sites.

Brook Lopez, C ($5,700 FD / $5,600 DK)

With the Bucks searching for answers on how to find a way back into this series, most may think of Giannis, and rightfully so, followed by Khris Middleton and Eric Bledsoe. However, the key to their success may be Brook Lopez. Let me elaborate on this; Bam Adebayo, one of the best defensive players in the league, has been a force in these NBA playoffs on the interior and is causing serios problems for Giannis to find the open lane to the hoop. In turn, I expect a slight shift from the Bucks on offense here today, with Lopez pulling more to the outside than he has been as of late. He’s shot an efficient 63.6% from deep in the series thus far, and with his price under 6k, he makes for a premier target here.

The Value Gems

Milwaukee/Miami Value

If we’re trying to build with one of AD, LeBron, Giannis, or Harden, or maybe even two of them, we’ll need to find some value. On the Milwaukee side, look for George Hill to continue his run off the bench and provide a spark that the Bucks need, while Eric Bledsoe is a premier mid-range target; should Giannis continue to get into foul trouble, we’ve seen the run that Marvin Williams has gotten, but his productivity has been mediocre at best. On the Heat side, we can go right back to the well with Jae Crowder, as well as guards Tyler Herro and Duncan Robinson, although I do prefer the former since he contributes in all facets of the game.

LA Lakers/Houston Value

The late game will probably draw some ownership in terms of value plays, beginning with the Lakers side; both KCP and Danny Green make for compelling options on this slate due to their ability to get hot with the shot in what should be a Run ‘N Gun series, while both Dwight Howard and JaVale McGee have the opportunity to dominate the glass, similarly to AD. On the flipside, I’m looking more into the mid-range for the Rockets here; Robert Covington may be the x-factor for the Rockets in this one, as the Lakers are vulnerable on the wing; look for both Eric Gordon and Danuel House to also be heavily involved on both ends of the floor as Houston tightens up their rotation against one of the best lineups in the NBA.

A Quick Note on NBA DFS

While there are many different sports and various contests pertaining to DFS along with their respective strategies, we focus on the main approaches to build both reliable cash and GPP lineups for a successful NBA night including pace, the projected over/under, one on one matchups (DVP), a player’s usage rate, and a team’s defensive rating. Make sure to stay active when building NBA lineups – if you cannot be in front of a computer, tablet, or on your phone an hour before lock, do not throw your money away! NBA DFS lineups can change at the blink of an eye and are the most variable compared to any other sport in DFS; players get injured, some sit for load management, and others find themselves on the DNP list for other reasons; any of which can sway your lineup and where to find value. With the first round of the NBA playoffs concluding yesterday after Houston stole Game 7 from Chris Paul and OKC, every team is now onto the second round, including Denver and LA, who make their series debut in the second game of the slate. These two game slates have typically had a similar pattern: the early game draws the most amount of ownership, and typically everyone priced in the mid-range are between 30% and 45% owned. While there isn’t much wiggle room to separate yourself from an ownership standpoint, lineup correlation is important as ever on these slates.

The Lock: Kawhi Leonard, SF ($10,500 FD / $10,300 DK)

The Klaw is my go-to pay up option on today’s slate; averaging 32.8 PPG across nearly 40 minutes of action in the NBA playoffs thus far, Kawhi has been lights out, as usual, when it matters most. While the Nuggets have a remarkable duo in Jamal Murray and Nikola Jokic, they are vulnerable on the wing and Kawhi can exploit his matchup in Game 1. In two games where he played 33 and 36 minutes, respectively, versus Denver this season, Kawhi averaged 28 points and 5 rebounds while shooting over 50% from the field; sporting a 30.1% usage rate in the NBA playoffs, Kawhi will have to be rolling to get the Clippers over the hump in the West.

The Core Gems

Nikola Jokic, C ($9,800 FD / $9,500 DK)

Saying that the Jamal Murray-Donovan Mitchell duel in the first round of the NBA playoffs was entertaining is an understatement; the two young guards flourished versus one another and really gave us arguably the most entertaining series based on their play alone. However, with the Clippers having the luxury of three elite defensive players in Kawhi Leonard, Paul George, and Patrick Beverly, should he play, Murray may be in tough throughout the series no matter who switches onto him – cue The Joker. While his usage rate has decreased slightly as their first round series went on, and now sits at 28.3%, Jokic’s usage was tops in the NBA playoffs before Murray took over in games 4-6. A walking triple-double every time he takes the court, look for Joker to exploit both Zubac and Harrell down low and contribute outside of the paint as well.

Fred VanVleet, SG ($7,700 FD/DK)

With the Raptors down 0-2 in the series to Boston, I’m expecting big games from the backcourt tandem of Kyle Lowry and FVV. Because of his rebounding and defensive contributions, I lean FVV, but both make for elite options in the mid-range of today’s NBA slate. While both Lowry and FVV have been missing crucial shots down the stretch, the volume for both of them, especially the latter, is the key factor to deciding as to why I remain interested in playing them; FVV is averaging 40 DK PPG in the series despite only averaging 15 PPG on 11-of-38 (29%) shooting. Give me all of the shares of a guy averaging over 5x his price whilst shooting 29% from the field all day long – positive regression is coming, and so is a ceiling game.

The Value Gems

Boston/Toronto Value

As mentioned earlier, this first game will continue garnering the most ownership of the two, not only because the opening games have been all NBA playoffs long, but because of the value plays available to us. On the Boston side, the mid-range is loaded with four of five starters in Kemba Walker, Marcus Smart, Daniel Theis, and Jaylen Brown. Moreover, Robert Williams has been electric off the bench when subbing in for Theis and makes for an attractive target if you’re punting the center position. On the Toronto side, OG Anunoby has been having a productive series both scoring and on the glass, in addition to both Marc Gasol and Serge Ibaka being affordable, reliable options.

Clippers/Denver Value

While most will flock to the mid-range/value in the first game, there are still some viable pieces to be had in the late game. For the Clippers, Patrick Beverly is expected to make a return to action and will likely spend most of minutes guarding Jamal Murray; he can get into foul trouble quickly, but at $3,500 on DK, he doesn’t need much. Other viable options that stick out to me are Landry Shamet and Ivica Zubac, who have both been hitting their value with consistency. On the Denver side, Monte Morris and Jerami Grant continue to see big minutes whether they’re starting or coming off the bench, while Torrey Craig has been scoring and rebounding consistently enough to warrant consideration at $3,600 on DK.

With only two game NBA slates set for the remainder of the playoffs, we’ll be switching the style of article from our Gems in the fashion of The Lock, The Core, and The Value, to a strategy article that will help you make three different types of lineups. Within these three strategies, you’ll find the traditional Ghost’s Gems (The Lock, The Core, and The Value) because they’ll all be different depending on which kind of lineup you are constructing. With two-game NBA slates, there is no room for error in cash games, so I’ll identify which option is best at the time of writing, but make sure to look for more updates in Discord.

The Gems: Harden + Antetokounmpo Lineup Construction (GPP)

The first type of lineup construction is fairly simple: you begin by jamming in both Harden and Giannis, followed by your value Gems. On DK, this leaves you with $4,567 per position left to round out your roster, which isn’t too bad considering you have the two players with the highest raw points upside on the slate, let alone the highest ceilings as well. However, in doing so, you’ll need to make sure to grab enough value that your NBA lineup remains consistent with the other two options discussed below from a ceiling standpoint. While most are content with value plays simply not destroying their lineup, a two-game slate value play most carry enough upside to take your lineup to the top of the leaderboards – what I mean by this is that you must feel confident with the possibility of the pairing of a value Gem with Harden/Giannis will outscore the pairing of two mid-tier pricing options; say Jimmy Butler and Khris Middleton. In order to do so, players such as George Hill (PG), Jae Crowder (SF/PF), and PJ Tucker (C) must remain in consideration and will likely be the focal points of your sources of value, while also considering players such as Andre Iguodala and Darius Bazley. My issue with this type of lineup construction on this NBA slate is that you may need to avoid the entire mid-tier price range, which includes attractive options such as Goran Dragic (PG), which, consequently, can hurt you by the end of the night, but the upside in this option is second-to-none for GPPs.

The Gems: ONE of Harden/Antetokounmpo (Preferred Cash Option)

The second type of lineup construction for tonight’s NBA slate is probably my favorite option of the three. While we saw the winning lineup have neither of Harden nor Giannis, this is not likely to occur twice in a row, let alone with the Rockets facing elimination and with Giannis being shut down in Game 1. The combination of Antetokounmpo struggling on offense, going 4-for-12 from the line, getting into early foul trouble, and Middleton/Lopez shooting 50% and 80% from the field, respectively, are a lot of things needed to go right for an Antetokounmpo fade here. With that being said, James Harden and the Houston Rockets are facing elimination, Russell Westbrook is not 100% healthy, and he’ll have roughly the same usage rate as Giannis, if not more. What is key here is that Harden may come in at a third of the ownership should the trend of early games pulling more ownership, and with how bad the Forward position is on DK and SF on FD, I’m expecting Giannis to have way more pull here than Harden. With Harden going for “only” 51.5 DK points despite going 3-for-11 from deep, he has 70+ point upside in a deciding Game 7. If you’re taking this approach and only playing one stud, look to the mid-range to round our your roster rather than stooping too deep into your player pool: as mentioned before, Goran Dragic (PG) would be a key component to this lineup composition on both sites and remains fairly priced, while the other core pieces depend on which stud you’re using. For example, if using Giannis Antetokounmpo, you’ll likely lean on Jimmy Butler or Bam Adebayo to pair with Goran Dragic (PG). However, if you’re rolling Harden, take a hard look at the OKC trio of Shai Gilgeous-Alexander (SG), Dennis Schroder (SG), and Chris Paul (PG) – if Harden’s going off for 70+, one of them is keeping the game close. Lastly, the same theory applies to the stud that you’re fading: if choosing Harden over Giannis, you’ll want one or both of Khris Middleton and Brook Lopez, whereas if you’re fading Harden, you can turn to options such as Robert Covington (PF).

The Gems: Fading Both Studs (GPP)

While the third option is the one that took down most GPPs just a few days ago, I’m not expecting a repeat offense. As explained in the previous section, a lot of things need to go write for just one of Giannis Anteotkounmpo or James Harden to not be in the winning NBA lineup, let alone both of them. However, I’m not opposed to building a few lines this way in large field tournaments (150-max) if you’re multi-entering; this lineup should be primarily comprised of mid-range targets discussed in previous sections, while also considering value Gems that have a decent floor, such as Jae Crowder.

What’s happening ladies and gentlemen? We find ourselves in the process of navigating the tricky dog days of the NBA playoffs. We only have a little two-game slate and with us getting into round two that’s going to be the norm here and beyond. With slates like these I typically recommend avoiding cash contest but if you are still running cash lineups have no fear. I still have my selections for you to help you continue your winning ways. Enough talking , here are my cash game NBA Breakdown For 9.1.

Cash Game NBA Breakdown 9.1, Guards

Gary Harris, Nuggets, 3.9K(DK)/4.5K(FD):

I normally would not be recommending a guy who has has only played one game since March but playoffs are a completely different beast and we have to look for value anywhere that it is available. Harris appears to be firmly planted in a bench role for now and I do not expect more than 25 minutes but if Gary’s shot is falling that is all he will need to get you to value. I know we are in the playoffs and every game matters but game 7’s carry a unique urgency so I expect the offensive output to be high from both teams tonight.

Jamal Murray, 9.7K(DK)/9.4K(FD):

It is always strange feeling to recommend Murray in cash and even more so at this price but he has been playing amazing ball lately. He has been playing over 40 minutes a game in his last three and has given you real life point total of 50, 42, and 50 in the last three respectively and I have no reason to doubt that this is going to continue tonight. My early lean is to rely heavily on this Denver/Utah match-up in any format due to the lack of defense (aside from one blowout game totals have been no worse than 224) and the game seven urgency that will keep the stars on the court for no less than 40 minutes on both sides.

Donovan Mitchell, Jazz, 9.7K(DK)/8.5K(FD):

You can basically take everything that I said about Murray and copy/paste for Mitchell with just a slightly lower points and minutes total. Game 7, there is no way Spida plays less than 40 minutes and there is no way he doesn’t try to carry his Jazz to the next round with a monster performance.

Cash Game NBA Breakdown 9.1, Forwards:

Jaylen Brown, Celtics, 7.3K(DK)/6.3K(FD):

I really like his price today on FanDuel from a cash game perceptive. I doubt he is going to be going 8x on tonight but he has been very consistent in non blowout games staying around 40 minutes and taking no less than 15 shots per. I have no reason to think the Raptors get smoked like they did in game one and even though I expect a lower total from this contest, the Raptors and Celtics actually play at a higher pace than both Denver and Utah (although I don’t think that is a true statement in the playoffs).

Daniel Theis, Celtics, 5.2K(DK)/5.3K(FD):

I am hoping I don’t regret this one. Toronto strangely looks like they have no answer for Theis underneath. He scored 13 point and brought in 15 boards in 25 minutes of the game one trouncing and I think the formula will be much the same tonight. It’s pretty thin at power forward on FanDuel so if Theis gets at least 25 minutes tonight I don’t see how you can avoid him tonight.

Royce O’neil, Jazz, 4.5K(DK)/4.6K(FD):

Like I said, power forward is thin in terms of cash on FanDuel. I prefer to pay a little further down in both spots to use that savings to get both Murray and Mitchell in your lineups. Nothing sexy about this selection. What he gives you is close to 40 minutes of play and the ability to accumulate a bit of everything in the ancillary stats to help you stay above the cash line with the outside chance to give you the occasional 35-40 DK point ceiling game.

Cash Game NBA Breakdown 9.1, Centers:

Mark Gasol, Raptors, 4.1K(DK)/4.5K(FD):

I like Gasol today when it comes to freeing up little salary to let you pay up for all of those expensive studs. He didn’t see a ton of minutes in round one (low-mid 20’s) but he still has the ability to hit value in limited work and he gives you a reasonable floor of around 20 DK points which is what you need to keep from destroying your cash contests. I would not use him under any circumstances in a GPP dues to his lack of ceiling but that’s not really what we’re worried about here.

Nikola Jokic, Nuggets, 9.5K(DK)/9.8K(FD):

My other main pay up spot if you didn’t notice prior comes from the Nuggets/Jazz game. My core in 100 percent of contests tonight will have Mitchell, Murray, and Jokic and I’ll just fill in with value. His price is a little high based on his recent production but he’s going to play 40 minutes tonight and he has a legitimate chance to give you 70 plus points on DK and FD on any given night. I usually avoid bigs against Rudy Gobert but Jokic takes the bulk of his shots from outside so I’m not as concerned about his defense in this case.

I feel very confident in both Murray and Mitchell on the over today and Tatum’s rebound total feels a little low for the pace tonight. I would absolutely hammer the first two with complete confidence.

NBA DFS Showdown Slates are some of the most challenging contests to win in the industry, but they are most definitely winnable. I have had the luxury of taking down first place in multiple DFS showdown slates in 2020 alone. I am here to show you how to be among the elite when building those “Perfect” showdown lineups and help you all win with the best of them.

Today I am going to explain the process of building those winning lineups, give you my targets and process when it comes to making an optimal NBA DFS Showdown winning lineup. I will note that the strategy behind a winning lineup on DraftKings is a lot different than a winning lineup on Fanduel. In the later stages of the article, I will give out my favorite VALUE captains (does not include Elite/High priced captains) and value plays for each of the three separate Showdown Slates Today. Without further adieu, let’s get this party started with My NBA DFS Showdown Shop Class.

FINDING A DRAFTKINGS CAPTAIN:

When building lineups on DK, you need to be aware that as you choose a captain, their price is going to increase by 50%, and so will their overall score. When picking a captain, make sure you pay attention to the salary that you are leaving yourself with. It is not always optimal to put the most expensive or most productive player in that spot. With having so much success on DK, I have learned that the money is made with the VALUE options.

The best way to pick a Captain is to look and find a TOP TEN producing player who has a decent amount of usage and has the ability to out-perform the “Star Player” of the slate. Even though the chance of that player being the highest fantasy scorers slim, it might still be optimal to take that chance because you will be able to use the leftover salary at another utility spot to build an overall better team, that has a better chance to outscore as a unit rather than as an individual. For example, with Marcus Smart taking over Hayward’s starting role, he could be a fine value option as Captain. His DK salary (6600) will only be 9900 as Captain and will be a savings of 6300 to use to build a better overall team than simply sliding the most expensive option (Tatum 16200) in that spot.

FINDING VALUE:

Always make sure you are aware of the regular starters, and if a “regular” starter is out, who will see his minutes? Who will see his usage? Who will see his shots and production? For example, Gordon Hayward is out with an ankle injury and has been out for a while, so now we even have data on this certain situation, as he’s expected to be sidelined for another month. He was a consistent starter and key piece of Boston’s rotation, and those minutes have to go somewhere. Remember minutes equal money.

The first and one of the biggest beneficiaries has been Marcus Smart; he has assumed a direct starting roll with Hayward out. I don’t want to get too far off-track, but this is what I am talking about. The situation now makes Smart a viable utility plug-in player for your showdown lineups.

FINDING DEEP VALUE:

When finding the Plug-IN pieces, it is essential that you look deep into any teams rotation. It is vital to find that one or two players that will fill the void left behind from an injured player. Usually, if a player is injured, multiple players will see run on the floor, and those are the players to dig out and plug into your lineup as fillers. Even though picking the correct Captain is important, it is equally as important to find the best possible filler options (cheap players who will produce). You can do this by looking at patterns and what teams do in certain circumstances.

Sometimes, you will have no choice but to put in a player who is going to see minimal minutes, but each one of those minutes is very important when finding the deep value. Look for players in a good matchup or players that will be first on the court in a blowout situation, but still, see the court as a second-team throughout the game.

1 PM SHOWDOWN SLATE:

BOSTON CELTICS VS. TORONTO RAPTORS.

This matchup, I will do my best to fit in as many ELITE players as possible and use the value options to fill in the rest of my lineup. I will attempt to fit at least three to four players 8K or above into my lineup.

DENVER NUGGETS VS. UTAH JAZZ.

The Late Night Hammer is definitely going to be a fun one to target. This NBA matchup is a maker or breaker. It has the opportunity to show you exactly why we should target value captains. Even though Mitchell and Jokic will make great Elite captains, getting different is key to winning a big Showdown GPP. I am going to do everything I can to make sure I have Jokic in my lineups. Mitchell is a great play but is never a must-have, and either is Murray. You can build a unique monster line in this game by using an excellent value captain.

NBA GPP Picks 8/30

In this article I will be breaking down NBA GPP Picks 8/30. I will inform you with at least one player per position that strikes my interest and If I am interested in a player on only one site, I will be site specific. I will be using DraftKings pricing for this article.

Today we get to start the second round of the NBA playoffs along with two game sixes for this NBA GPP Picks 8/30 slate. Our highest scoring game according to Vegas is Clippers vs Dallas with a massive 238 ½ total. This is remarkably interesting as Dallas has a slough of injuries and questionable players, we will need to keep a close eye on. The Boston vs Toronto series should be a fantastic series to watch. Make sure you head over to the Discord chat rooms, with myself and the rest of the WinDaily staff to keep stay updated on all the injury news that may occur.

He has yet to score under 25 fantasy points during this series, which is solid value with the stiffer pricing at this point in the playoffs. He comes off the bench and puts up, as he has attempted double digit shot attempts in every game this series as well. Denver has given up the most points to point guards and the second most to shooting guards over the past two weeks. Clarkson should have another solid performance with his matchup and usage.

SG

Fred VanVleet – ($7,700)

This man is just a machine in the playoffs scoring over 40 fantasy points in each game he played over 30 minutes. His last game was an outlier as he got in foul trouble and then the blowout, he only played 19 minutes but still scoring 26 fantasy points. Averaging 36.5 fantasy points against Boston during the regular season, if VanVleet gets his massive minutes as usual he shouldn’t have a problem eclipsing 36.5.

SF

Jayson Tatum – ($9,200)

Another game without Gordon Hayward is good news for Tatum who leads the team in usage at 31.2% with Hayward off the floor. Tatum scored over 50 fantasy points in three out of the four games against the 76ers. Toronto is a good matchup for small forwards as they have given up the third most fantasy points to small forwards in the past two weeks. Tatum should have a big day as Kemba may have a tough time against the defense of these Toronto guards.

PF

Michael Porter Jr. – ($5,500)

This price is what draws my interest here, and I expect Utah to be certain to at least contain Jamal Murray during this night cap. Clearly this is a tournament play as his minutes did dip two games prior to game five. I think that was just sending a message to him if you won’t at least try on defense you wont play. In five games against Utah, Porter has averaged 32.7 fantasy points. Porter still can score above 30 fantasy points if he plays 30 minutes which should be solid value for a tough power forward position this slate.

C

Enes Kanter – ($3,700)

If most of the Dallas players are good to go, I will look here or Daniel Theis for some salary relief. Toronto plays with a big lineup rolling out Siakam, Gasol, and Ibaka throughout the game. Kanter usually performs whenever he gets minutes and with a bigger lineup of Toronto, I expect Kanter to see minutes. Kanter has also averaged 24 fantasy points against Toronto this season.  Jarrett Allen played extremely well against Toronto big men last series. These Boston big men could provide some salary relief.

That will conclude this weekend of NBA GPP Picks 8/30 three game slate. We have plenty of injury news in Dallas with four players questionable and Porzingis ruled out with a Meniscus tear. With no Porzingis Dallas may throw in the towel and Luka may sit today too, regardless you’re going to need to make sure you keep an eye on this news. A good way to follow that news is join myself and the rest of the staff in the Discord chat rooms as we follow all injury news and keep you updated on our favorite plays. NBA DFS: Cash Game Core Four 8.30

WE have another three game slate in front of us and while cash games are getting a little tougher as we go, it’s still a viable format. Iy’s a bit of an oddball slate because we have two earlier games and then the Jazz vs the Nuggets are not until 8:30 PM. The name of the game is consistency so let’s take a look for the NBA DFS: Cash Game Core Four 8.30!

Kawhi Leonard

We talk about wanting consistency with our cash picks and Playoff Kawhi is that man since the playoffs have tipped. Through the five games vs the Mavericks, Kawhi has yet to dip under 50 DK points. Taking the last game that was a massive blowout out of the mix, he’s played a minimum of 38 minutes every game. Luka Doncic has had a couple extra days to nurse that ankle, so this game should stay close enough. I’m going to plug in my 50 DK floor and move on.

Jamal Murray

*UPDATE* Luka Doncic is drawing heavy ownership so it’s best to leave Murray as a GPP target. Build your cash games around the Kawhi/Luka duo and value plays from the Clippers/Mavericks game.

Choosing a player in this tier is pretty difficult. We have Paul George who came alive last game out (but still was only around 40 DK). We could go up slightly to Jayson Tatum or dip down to Pascal Siakam, but my choice is Murray. Yes, consistency and floor is important. It doesn’t hurt to have a cash player with some ceiling as well.

Denver has been totally blown up in two games. In the three games that were close/they won, Murray has been incredible. He’s put up at least 59 DK in those games and showed a ceiling of 82 DK! Denver is still on the brink and they need Nikola Jokic and Murray to continue to carry them.

Royce O’Neal

Probably about the least exciting pick, we need some style of savings and O’Neal fits the bill. He’s under $5,000 and unless you’re spending up on Tatum or Siakam, the PF position doesn’t offer a ton. O’Neal is not a big piece of the Utah attack but he plays a ton of minutes. In addition, the DKPM doesn’t look that bad since the bubble started either.

He’s scoring 0.96 DKPM compared to 0.69 in the regular season. Some of that is when Mike Conley missed a couple games and Utah coasted into the playoffs. Still, even a 0.69 DKPM is useful and anything else is a bonus.

Tim Hardaway Jr.

Really, this could just be a spot for Dallas value. If we’re playing Kawhi, we want pieces to go with him because this game has the highest O/U on the day by 16.5 points right now. When we take Kristaps Porzingis off the floor, both THJ and Maxi Kleber have a 0.88 DKPM. The big difference is THJ has usage to go with his mark at 23.1% and will need to score to keep Dallas in this one. I would believe that THJ and Kleber both carry some serious ownership and really am fine locking both into any cash lineup.

Players to Consider

Even if we use Kleber and THJ, that leaves you $5,166 for the last three spots. Some of the players I’m looking to fill those slots include – Jokic, Tatum, George, Siakam, Fred VanVleet, Kemba Walker, Rudy Gobert, Marcus Morris, OG Anunoby, Ivica Zubac/Montrezl Harrell (I’m interested in Brian’s and Ghost’s opinion on this play), Seth Curry, Trey Burke

After peaceful protests had put multiple professional leagues at a halt for a greater cause, we’re back today for a 3-game NBA slate on a Saturday afternoon. Things have since changed since Wednesday; Russell Westbrook will be returning for the Rockets, looking to grab a critical Game 5 win versus his former franchise, while both the Bucks and Lakers aim to close out their respective series versus the hometown Magic and Lillard-less Blazers. Let’s get to it:

The Lock: Giannis Antetokounmpo ($11,300 DK / $11,500 FD)

With the Bucks looking to close out the Magic, I’m expecting no mercy from the NBA MVP. Averaging 31.3 PPG to go along with 15.8 rebounds and 6.8 assists in the series, there are maybe a handful of players that can matchup versus Giannis, and Orlando does not have a single one of them. He’s averaging 2.05 FPPM in the series, and if he sees 30+ minutes in this one, he’ll have no problem contending to be the highest scorer on the slate, especially if you’re playing the angle where Westbrook limits Harden’s ceiling.

The Core Gems

CJ McCollum ($8,100 DK / $8,000 FD)

His price has risen on FD since Wednesday’s slate, and I honestly don’t love this play all that much today considering the Lakers should cruise to a victory here, but for cash games alone, McCollum warrants consideration simply because of how highly he’ll be owned. One of the most important aspects of cash games is ownership – you need to know where the field is going because if someone is coming in at ridiculous ownership rates and you don’t have them, you’ll be behind the 8-ball if they have a great game. With Damian Lillard already ruled out for the Trail Blazers’ elimination game tonight, CJ McCollum will have a big part in whether they get to see the court for a Game 6. Sporting a 26.2% usage rate on the season, McCollum sees a drastic increase to 33.4% with Dame off the court, which largely used to come closing out the opening and third quarters. His back injury has slowed him down at times, but he has turned in back-to-back efficient performances. I’ll be fading in tournaments, or at least be underweight compared to the field; look for updates in Dsicord.

Shai Gilgeous-Alexander ($7,600 DK / $7,700 FD)

With how few options there are at SG on FD, SGA instantly becomes a core piece to our cash builds. He is also a great play on DK considering the mid-range is not one that is all that attractive today, and while ‘Stars and Scrubs’ will be a good tournament build, having a mid-range target for cash games to pair with the Value Gems below and a stud is a good strategy. Averaging over 38 minutes per game in regulation, SGA has been filling the stat sheet in all aspects and will need to contribute offensively if OKC wants to steal a Game 5 from Harden & Co.

Also Consider: Russell Westbrook & James Harden

The Value Gems

Orlando Magic Value

Another NBA slate where the opening game will draw heavy ownership. The trio of Markelle Fultz, Evan Fournier, and James Ennis will continue to pull ownership, probably for the last time this season, and we need to be aware of that for our cash games. Both DJ Augustin and Gary Clark are also in play here, in addition to Terrence Ross, so look for updates in Discord as to who is coming in at the highest ownership rates for cash games.

Portland Trail Blazers Value

The value pieces on the Blazers are an interesting, collective pivot from some of the Orlando value at much cheaper prices. The trio of Gary Trent Jr., Anfernee Simons, and Mario Hezonja should all be due for bigger roles here, especially if this one gets out of hand early, so if you’re not playing McCollum under that game theory, load up here instead.

LA Lakers Value

On the flipside to the Blazers value, if you’re making a lineup based on that same game theory, why not run back your Portland value with some Lakers value? If you’re anticipating this game getting out of hand due to LeBron and AD simply overpowering McCollum and company, and therefore fading all 3 of them, pieces such as JaVale McGee, Dwight Howard, Kyle Kuzma, and Alex Caruso should all see extended run. Blowouts are not something I advise trying to predict, and it can bury your lineup rather quickly, but this game has a lot of intrigue for tournaments.

Stay alert on the WinDaily Discord chat to follow along with our updated plays. GOOD LUCK TO ALL!

NBA GPP Picks 8/29

In this article I will be breaking down NBA GPP Picks 8/29. I will inform you with at least one player per position that strikes my interest and If I am interested in a player on only one site, I will be site specific. I will be using DraftKings pricing for this article.

We are back with NBA GPP Picks 8/29 for game five of these series after the brief layoff. During this layoff Damian Lillard has left the bubble, as well as Aaron Gordon. We will also get Russell Westbrook back on the court for the Rockets. It will be a three-game slate to breakdown the same slate as a few days ago as DraftKings has left pricing the same as the slate that was refunded. In case we get late altering news make sure you head over to the Discord Chat rooms, as me and the rest of the WinDaily staff are in there to keep you up to date on the slate.

NBA GPP Picks 8/23

PG

CJ McCollum – ($8,200)

McCollum is another guy that has been seeing massive minutes these playoffs playing over 42 minutes in the games Portland has kept close. Even in the games that were out of hand McCollum still played 33 minutes. With the massive minutes and the usage increase of 5.2% totaling a usage of 31.4%, McCollum has massive upside and should pay off his price tag.

SG

Shai Gilgeous-Alexander – ($7,400)

When your playing Houston and seeing North of 40 minutes its tough not to hit value. SGA has seen more than 40 minutes in the previous two games and score above 44 fantasy points in both games. Over the past two weeks Houston has given up the fourth most fantasy points to shooting guards. The three main guards are the focal point of this offense and I will have a share of all three.

SF

Carmelo Anthony – ($5,900)

Clearly without Lillard we have a ton of usage for other players to consume and Anthony is one of them. With Lillard off the floor Anthony gets a usage bump of 7.6% and adds 10.72 fantasy points per 36 minutes. My biggest concern here is does this game stay close, but if it is close you can bet Carmelo will be a huge factor in that. Much like McCollum, Carmelo has massive upside and should pay off his price tag.

PF

Danuel House Jr. ($5,100)

With Westbrook returning some people may shy away from the rockets due to the prices and uncertainty of what happens with minutes. House should have safe minutes though as the previous game played 39 minutes, good for second highest on the team only behind Harden. House has also shot 50% from the field during the playoffs so I expect the Rockets to continue getting him double digit shot attempts.

C

Nikola Vucevic – ($9,200)

First off, Milwaukee was the fastest paced team in the league this season. In the past month in the bubble they have given up the fourth most fantasy point to centers. In the past two weeks the Bucks have given up the most fantasy points to centers. Vucevic has been the go-to guy in this offense averaging over 20 shots per game and scoring over 50 fantasy points in three out of the four matchups between these teams. Its tough to avoid a player with a matchup like this one, another 60-point performance won’t be out of question.

That will conclude my article of NBA GPP Picks 8/29 three game slate. I don’t love a ton of cheap options I will roll a more balanced lineup, but if you’re looking Anfernee Simons and Gary Clark will be two of my top cheaper options. It should be an interesting slate with different strategies that can be used as far as the Laker game getting out of hand and Westbrook making his return. All totals in Vegas were between 223 ½ and 227 so no huge advantages in that aspect. Basketball will continue for the time being so let’s enjoy it. Don’t forget to join myself and the rest of the WinDaily staff in the Discord Chat rooms where we further dissect our favorite plays. Best of luck on the slate and thank you for reading my content.

We’re back for another edition of the Gems and have a 3-game NBA slate to tackle in the evening. The Bucks and Lakers are looking to close out the Magic and Trail Blazers, respectively, with the former seemingly hanging around in every game despite the obvious mismatch, while both the Rockets and OKC search for an important Game 5 win in a 2-2 series. With multiple studs to pay up for and some glaring value available, there are different routes to take, but let’s explore the best ones:

The Lock: James Harden, SG ($11,600 FD / $11,800 DK)

The Beard will be the stud that I have the most exposure to, along with the Greek Freak who is listed below. James Harden was back to doing James Harden things on offense last game, en route to a stellar 32/8/15 performance, where he also made six 3-pointers. With Russell Westbrook now day-to-day, I imagine he’d be back for the second round, should Houston make it out, and with a decisive Game 5 victory inching them that much closer, look for Harden to take this one over early and often on his birthday.

The Core Gems

Giannis Antetokounmpo, SF/PF ($11,300 FD/DK)

With the Bucks looking to close out the Magic, I’m expecting no mercy from the NBA MVP. Averaging 31.3 PPG to go along with 15.8 rebounds and 6.8 assists in the series, there are maybe a handful of players that can matchup versus Giannis, and Orlando does not have a single one of them. He’s averaging 2.05 FPPM in the series, and if he sees 30+ minutes in this one, he’ll have no problem contending to be the highest scorer on the slate.

CJ McCollum, SG ($7,200 FD / $8,100 DK)

With Damian Lillard already ruled out for the Trail Blazers’ elimination game tonight, CJ McCollum will have a big part in whether they get to see the court for a Game 6. Sporting a 26.2% usage rate on the season, McCollum sees a drastic increase to 33.4% with Dame off the court, which largely used to come closing out the opening and third quarters. His back injury has slowed him down at times, but he has turned in back-to-back efficient performances. Although I’ll be underweight versus the field in tournaments, he’s worthy of strong consideration in cash games due to his inflated ownership at the time of writing.

Also Consider: OKC Trio of SGA, Chris Paul, Dennis Schroder

The Value Gems

Orlando Magic Value

Another NBA slate where the opening game will draw heavy ownership. The trio of Markelle Fultz, Evan Fournier, and James Ennis will continue to pull ownership, probably for the last time this season, and we need to be aware of that for our cash games. Both DJ Augustin and Gary Clark are also in play here, in addition to Terrence Ross, so look for updates in Discord as to who is coming in at the highest ownership rates for cash games.

Portland Trail Blazers Value

While they aren’t pulling the ownership that I thought they would, the value pieces on the Blazers are an interesting, collective pivot from some of the Orlando value at much cheaper prices. The trio of Gary Trent Jr., Anfernee Simons, and Mario Hezonja should all be due for bigger roles here, especially if this one gets out of hand early.

Los Angeles Lakers Value

On the flipside to the Blazers value, if you’re making a lineup based on game theory, why not run back your Portland value with some Lakers value? If you’re anticipating this game getting out of hand due to LeBron and AD simply overpowering McCollum and company, pieces such as JaVale McGee, Dwight Howard, Kyle Kuzma, and Alex Caruso should all see extended run. Blowouts are not something I advise trying to predict, and it can bury your lineup rather quickly, but this game has a lot of intrigue for tournaments.

NBA DFS lineups can change at the blink of an eye and are the most variable compared to any other sport in DFS; players get injured, some sit for load management, and others find themselves on the DNP list for other reasons; any of which can sway your lineup and where to find value.
