UFC 256 Figueiredo vs Moreno DFS Card Breakdown

This is the UFC 256 Figueiredo vs Moreno DFS Card Breakdown where we are going to see Deiveson Figueiredo put his Flyweight belt on the line for the second time in just three weeks. This card is currently scheduled for 11 fights with two early prelims, four prelims, and five main card matchups. In this article I will breakdown the main event and three other fights that I am confident will end early to maximize value. I will be playing on DraftKings and using their pricing. Chase Hooper is the most expensive fighter on DraftKings at $9,300 but is not the largest betting favorite in Vegas. The largest betting favorite belongs to Ciryl Gane at -470. We have a stacked card that I’m excited for this weekend so lets break it down!

Tony Ferguson – ($8,600) vs Charles Oliveira – ($7,600)

It is difficult to look past this fight when it comes to early finish potential. Each of these fighters previous three matchups have ended early. Ferguson got beat up in the Gaethje fight although he did manage to get 136 significant strikes and showed one hell of a chin. Ferguson will likely need to defend the takedown in this fight and he has great takedown defense at 75%. If this fight stays standing, I give the edge to Ferguson and his +1.8 strikes landed to absorbed.

Oliveira is a 3rd degree black belt in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, so it will be tough to give anyone the advantage over him on the mat. He has finished 19 of his 29 wins by submission. In Oliveira’s 37 fight professional career just three fights have gone to the final bell. Oliveira has shown some hands and power with two knockdowns in his last three bouts. I will be taking Ferguson in this fight by knockout but wouldn’t be surprised if he got submitted either.

Selection – Tony Ferguson ($8,600) – 2nd round KO/TKO

Chase Hooper – ($9,300) vs Peter Barrett – ($6,900)

The odds are off for this fight in my opinion as Hooper is currently a -377 betting favorite. The line was originally above -400 in favor of Hooper. This kid is young and raw still but has potential. His fight IQ is low as he rushes in and leans over his punches when he throws them. We see proof of this with his low 35% strike defense. That led to Hooper getting knocked down early in his most recent fight and allowed his opponent to score over 100 significant strikes. He has shown power and good Jiu Jitsu against other fighters, though. His strength of opponent is worrisome to me though.

Barret faced Zalal in his last fight and Zalal never stops moving and is constantly coming from different angles. In that fight Barrett did get knocked down early and survived a flurry of punches. Barrett, like Hooper, absorbs a ton of shots with a 36% strike defense. Looking back at his Contender Series win he is a good striker and can strike with volume in a fight. If Hooper rushes forward and doesn’t move his head, I think Barrett could have an amazing night as the lowest priced fighter on DraftKings. This fight wont go the distance and I really like what Barrett lets me do with the rest of my lineup.

Selection – Peter Barrett – ($6,900) 1st round KO/TKO

Ciryl Gane – ($9,200) vs Junior Dos Santos – ($7,000)

Rising heavyweight Ciryl Gane will come in as the largest favorite on the slate at -470 against UFC veteran Junior Dos Santos. If we look at Gane he has shown he can do it all with 2 finishes by submission in the UFC. He has a fantastic striking game as well with a +3.03 in strikes landed to absorbed according to UFC stats. A superior strike defense of 73% is a big reason to the positive strike ratio. Gane out struck his latest opponent Tanner Boser by more than double in a decision win.

Let’s have a look at Junior Dos Santos who has lost three straight fights by knockout before the end of the second round. He has been finished early in seven of his eight losses as a pro, and just six of his twenty-nine fights have gone the distance. His fights are fun to watch given the power he provides showing that with 14 knockdowns and 15 UFC wins. The level of competition Dos Santos has faced is spectacular but with three straight early losses its tough to pick him.

Selection – Ciryl Gane – ($9,200) 1st round KO/TKO

Deiveson Figueiredo – ($9,000) vs Brandon Moreno – ($7,200)

It was just three weeks ago that we broke down a Figueiredo fight as he will attempt to defend his Flyweight belt again against Brandon Moreno at UFC 256. For Figueiredo I still believe he has the most power in the weight class and is a Black Belt in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu. The Jiu Jitsu was on full display as the first scramble on the mat allowed Deiveson to lock in the Guillotine early in the first round. Figueiredo has finished four straight fights before the end of the second round and 17 of his 20 wins before the final bell. I have him getting the finish before the end of the second round. It’s just hard for me to think Figueiredo feels threatened by Moreno if he’s putting his belt up for grabs this quickly.

I’m not saying Moreno is a bad fighter but he was getting beat on the feet against Brandon Royval in his last fight. Moreno was holding his hands low in that fight and got popped several times by Royval as well. If he does that with Figueiredo in the octagon it will be lights out. Last fight Moreno got credited with a first round TKO but I’d say it was more due to injury as Royval dislocated his shoulder. In a post online Royval had said he was attempting to put it back into place himself mid fight when Moreno capitalized on the ground and pound. I will have 100% of the main event with 80% Figueiredo and 20% Moreno.

MORE FIGHTERS I LIKE

Daniel Pineda – GPP – ($8,300)

Kevin Holland – GPP – ($8,200)

Virna Jandiroba– GPP – ($7,500)

UFC Vegas 16 Fight Breakdown

Welcome to the UFC Vegas 16 Fight Breakdown for this week taking place at the UFC Apex in Las Vegas. Our main event on this card is Jack Hermansson squaring off against Marvin Vettori. Again, due to the pandemic the main event for this week was changed as Vettori replaced Kevin Holland. Holland tested positive for COVID but will fight on another date before the end of the year. This card will consist of six prelim bouts and five main card matchups. In this article I will be using DraftKings pricing. On DraftKings Movsar Evloev is the highest priced fighter which correlates in Vegas as he will come in the biggest favorite on the card at -675. Based upon my research I will breakdown the main event and three other fights that that I am positive will not go the distance.  I see tons of early finish potential in this fantastic card, so let’s hop into the breakdown!

Jack Hermansson – ($8,000) vs Marvin Vettori ($8,200)

Both fighters had impressive first round victories via submission last time out. Hermansson is an exceptional grappler, showing that last time out getting a heel hook from bottom position to end the fight early. He will look to chew up your legs and has good striking numbers landing twice as much as he absorbs. A noteworthy stat is nine out of Hermansson’s eleven UFC fights have ended without needing the judges. In his last two five round fights he got finished in the second round in one and scored 122 DraftKings points with a decision in the other.

Vettori also looked fantastic his last time out locking up a rear naked choke in the first round. Before he locked that submission in, he did some serious work on the mat with his ground and pound. A submission win is no surprise as nine of Vettori’s wins have come by submission. He has dominated his opponents in the striking department also by out striking them by more than double in three straight fights.

I give Hermansson the edge in this bout as it will be Vettori’s first five round main event. I do think this is an evenly matched fight with two great fighters. I will have 100% of the main event because even if it goes the distance scoring will be high. I will roll out 60% Hermansson and 40% Vettori.

Ilia Topuria – ($9,000) vs Damon Jackson – ($7,200)

For Jackson this will be a similar matchup to his most recent bout facing Mirsad Bektic. In that fight Jackson got taken down easily due to his lousy 35% take down defense. When getting taken to the mat he would look for a guillotine which usually allowed Bektic top control. He did find a way to win by way of one of those guillotine chokes however, Jackson was dominated on the ground as Bektic held nearly nine minutes and thirty seconds of control time.

Grappling is Topuria’s bread and butter no doubt about that. He has shown some improvements in the striking department but that is mostly to set up his takedowns. The kid is only 23 years old and has been a black belt for three years already. That shows on the mat as his transitions are seamless, he is a submission expert. As soon as you think he’s going for a rear naked choke he goes for a guillotine. If Jackson goes for the guillotine on takedowns again and gives up top position, I expect Topuria to use his grappling and wrestling to get a submission.

Selection – Ilia Topuria – ($9,000) 1st round Submission

Gabriel Benitez – ($8,600) vs Justin Jaynes – ($7,600)

These fighters both typically end a win before the final bell. Benitez has finished seventeen of his twenty-one wins early. Benitez will attempt loads of kicks and he lands them heavy. In his last fight against Morales the low kicks were checked and opened a big wound on Benitez leg. Against Morales he also showed his poor strike accuracy landing just 17 of his 133 attempted significant head strikes. If this fight were to go to the ground Benitez does have ten submission finishes.

Prior to his loss to Gavin Tucker, Jaynes had finished five straight fights in the first round. Even in his fight with Tucker he landed a big uppercut and scored a knockdown. Then had Tucker in a guillotine choke to where Tucker literally lost his shorts just to escape it. That was all in the first round so he may have gassed himself out as his strikes landed and attempted both plummeted after the first round. He got dominated after the first round and that led to his first defeat before the final bell. He puts together great combinations and often throws punches with a lot of power. If this fight ends in the first round It will be Jaynes landing the knockout early.

Selection – Justin Jaynes – ($7,600) 1st Round KO/TKO

Jimmy Flick – ($8,500) vs Cody Durden – ($7,700)

We all know one thing and that is that Jimmy Flick wants the fight on the ground. Thirteen of Flick’s fifteen wins have come by submission, he has also been knocked out in four of his five losses. Flick is so smooth when he gets you to the ground going from one submission attempt to the next. He likes to be aggressive with leg kicks but isn’t the best boxer failing to win by knockout to this point and being finished early by punches four times.

Cody Durden has eleven professional wins and just one of those went to the judges scored card. In his last bout he took on a short notice and it was his UFC debut. He started the fight impressive having Gutierrez back locked landing some ground and pound shots. After the first round is when the kicks and leg strikes got to Durden and leading to a decision draw. It was a tough matchup for his UFC debut. I do believe Durden is the better striker in this matchup and can hold off the takedowns of Flick to land his punches. I’ll take the salary saving of Durden but be aware if this fight gets to the mat Flick will likely end it early with a submission.

Selection – Cody Durden – ($7,700) 1st round KO/TKO

MORE

Jordan Leavitt – GPP – ($9,200)

Roman Dolidze – GPP – ($8,700)

Ovince Saint Preux – GPP – ($7,800)

Closing Thoughts

I appreciate you taking the time to read my UFC Vegas 16 Fight Breakdown on this first weekend of December. This should be an entertaining fight card with close matchups up and down the card. Jordan Leavitt is the another extremely heavy favorite coming in at -430 facing Matt Wiman. Head over to the Discord Chat rooms to join myself and other WinDaily staff as we keep you updated on any news after weigh-ins and up until lock. A fight can easily get called off last minute like Smolka vs Quinonez a few weeks ago. I will be in Discord Friday night after weigh-ins and Saturday until lock to answer any questions about the UFC Vegas 16 slate. Remember in large field GPP’s your going to need to be different and take risks. Enjoy your weekend and let’s get a tournament takedown!

UFC Vegas 15 Fight Breakdown

This Thanksgiving week’s fight card brings us a Heavyweight tilt that is headlining this UFC Vegas 15 Fight Breakdown slate. Our main event for the weekend will consist of Curtis Blaydes squaring off against Derrick Lewis. Six fights will be featured in the prelims with five being on the main card. For this eleven-fight slate I will be using DraftKings pricing. Blaydes will be featured as the top priced fighter as Lewis is the lowest priced fighter. I will be breaking down the main event along with three other fights that I am confident will end early to help maximize value. On this card we won’t have title fights or as many highly recognizable fighters as last week but is a fun card regardless. With two heavyweight matchups in the last three events, there is bound to be intensity in this card. Now let’s jump into the breakdown for this amazing fight slate!

Curtis Blaydes – ($9,300) vs Derrick Lewis ($6,900)CANCELLED

Spike Carlyle – (8,900) vs Bill Algeo – ($7,300)

According to UFC stats, Algeo’s last two fights resulted in him being struck significantly over 100 times. In his last fight he was also taken down five times with his opponent (Ricardo Lamas) accumulating over six minutes of control time. Even with the fight being a decision Lamas scored over 100 DraftKings points. A big reason Algeo has taken a beating may be his lousy 35% strike defense. Algeo is a well-rounded fighter but leaves his hands low to his waist even when closing the distance, which allows him to get hit often.

Prior to Carlyle’s recent decision loss, he had managed three straight finishes in the first round by punches or ground and pound. Carlyle also had over nine minutes of control time his last fight, which is noteworthy if we compare it to Algeo’s last fight. Even if this fight doesn’t get finished early it has potential for a high scoring bout in a decision. I do think you can use Algeo as nice salary saver because if his defense has improved any, he has the potential. I however do not think his defense has improved and Carlyle catches him with a heavy counter strike early.

Selection – Spike Carlyle – ($8,900) 1st round KO

Miguel Baeza – ($8,700) vs Takashi Sato – ($7,500)

Both of these fighters are relatively new to the UFC, neither of them have more than three fights with the organization. First, we will start with Baeza who has an undefeated record of 9-0 entering this matchup. He has looked excellent with his striking ability landing five knockdowns in his past three fights. Baeza does get hit about as often as he lands though which is a concern. With the most recent opponent being Matt Brown who is nearly 40 years old with over 40 professional fights under his belt. Brown had been finished in 13 of his 17 professional losses, so Baeza finishing him early was no surprise.

For Sato he will be entering his fourth UFC bout facing Baeza. His last fight against Jason Witt was an impressive victory that ended before the first minute of the first round. Sato is a fantastic striker as his last six wins have come from punches/ground and pound (four of those six ending first round). Sato’s two most recent losses have ended early via submission. Vegas has this fight much closer than the DraftKings pricing as Sato is just a +120 underdog. Each of these fighters haven’t shown the capability to avoid punches, so if this fight stays on the feet, I suspect it will end before the final bell. Sato can strike with Baeza, and Vegas has this fight much closer than the DraftKings pricing that’s why I will take Sato and his salary savings in this fight.

Selection – Takashi Sato – ($7,500) 2nd Round KO/TKO

Anthony Smith – ($8,500) vs Devin Clark – ($7,700)

Any fight that has Anthony Smith in it is unlikely to go the distance, I mean that. In his 49 fight professional career just five, that’s right five of his fights have gone to the judges scorecards. Smith absorbs nearly one and a half more strikes per minute than he lands. If we look at his last five fights he’s been out struck in all of them and two were even wins. Granted he has faced brutal opponents in Jon Jones and Glover Teixeira to name a few. Smith is an amazing championship level fighter that has been the main event for his last five trips to the octagon. A three round fight where he doesn’t need to worry about saving his gas tank may be what he needs to get back on track.

In Clark’s last two fight’s majority of his strikes landed have come in the clinch or on the ground. That is where Smith struggles with defending strikes the most is from the mat (Check last two fights). The last three fights Smith has lost he got dominated in the clinch and on the ground, this could be a very intriguing matchup given that’s where Clark’s strikes have come from. All of Clark’s UFC wins have come from a decision against not near the caliber opponents Smith has faced recently. If we look at Clark two fight’s ago he faced a fighter that doesn’t have a win in the UFC . I’m taking Smith to finish this fight early with his experience against high level competition.

Selection – Anthony Smith – ($8,500) 1st Round Submission

UFC Vegas 15 Fight Breakdown MORE

After Blaydes fight being Cancelled Kamaka will gain plenty of ownership and Parisian may be a solid pivot.

Kai Kamaka – GPP – ($9,200)

Josh Parisian – GPP – ($9,000)

Malcolm Gordon – GPP – ($7,100)

Closing Thoughts

Thank you for taking the time to read my UFC Vegas 15 Fight Breakdown this holiday week. Majority of these fights are extremely close in Vegas odds. DraftKings pricing and Vegas odds are lining up almost identical this week. Last week’s weigh-ins did bring some altering news with Mike Perry struggling mightily with his weight cut. Be sure to pop into the Discord Chat rooms and hangout as I will be in there after weigh-ins on Saturday before lock to provide updates and answer questions. Discord will be important this week after the main event getting cancelled, we may have changes to the card so check it out! These are my thoughts upon watching tape and evaluating numbers. Good luck let’s take down a GPP and WinDaily.

UFC 255 Fight Breakdown

We have a crazy UFC 255 Fight Breakdown this week as both Flyweight Titles will be on the line Saturday night at the UFC Apex in Las Vegas. This card has tons of early round finish potential with the headlining event of Deiveson Figueiredo defending his Flyweight Title against Alex Perez. Our other Flyweight Title fight this weekend is on the women’s side as Valentina Shevchenko goes head to head with Jennifer Maia. Saturday’s card consists of three early prelim fights, four prelim matchups, and the main card will have five bouts including the two title fights. Reminder to head to the Discord chat rooms I will be in there with updates after weight in’s as I’m posting this article on Thursday night. I will be using DraftKings pricing for this article, but it can be used for both sites as I look for fights that will end early to maximize upside. I can’t wait to get into this amazing fight card so let’s jump in!

Valentina Shevchenko – ($9,600) vs Jennifer Maia ($6,600)

Let’s look at our first title fight on the night as Shevchenko looks to defend her title for the fourth consecutive time. Shevchenko is an amazing fighter a championship fighter plain and simple. She is only absorbing 2.12 significant strikes per minute in her UFC career. She has pretty well dominated in her title defenses, I don’t see that changing here facing Maia. Vegas would for sure agree with me as Shevchenko is a -1725 favorite which is an absurd number! She is the highest priced fighter on DraftKings so in my eyes she needs to score the most points for her to pay for her tag.

Maia is a good fighter but I don’t think she is better than Shevchenko in any aspect of the game. Maia lost to Katlyn Chookagian two fights ago and Shevchenko just finished Chookagian in the third round in her most recent title defense. I will likely be off this fight as I do see paths that Shevchenko doesn’t pay off her salary.

Deiveson Figueiredo – ($9,000) vs Alex Perez – ($7,200)

On to the second title fight and the main event of the evening as Figueiedo looks to defend his flyweight title. Figueiredo has devastating power, some would say the best in the weight class. He also has the black belt in Jiu Jitsu that shows with his seven submission finishes. His opponent Alex Perez who is replacing Cody Garbrandt has a good ground game as well averaging three takedowns per 15 minutes and recording seven submission wins in his career. Perez most impressive win was his recent knockout with two knockdowns facing Jussier Formiga. Formiga is now on a three-fight losing streak and that is Perez’s “signature win”.

Figueiredo has beaten Benavidez in two straight fights inside the distance with the more recent fight was an impressive showing. He knocked Benavidez down three times landing 35 significant strikes before ultimately getting a first round submission. Looking at the tape Figueiredo is much quicker with everything, his footwork keeps you circling and going where he wants you to. He controls the octagon and where a fighter moves. That shows as Figueirdo has the highest strike accuracy according to UFC Stats on the card. (not including fighters with one or fewer fights in the UFC) Once he smells blood in the water he goes for nasty elbows or a submission. Benavidez had yet to be submitted until Figueiredo, and Perez has been submitted in three of his five losses. I will have 100% of this fight, likely 70% Figueiredo and 30% Perez.

Louis Cosce – (9,300) vs Sasha Palatnikov – ($6,900)

Looking at the fight that leads off the evening is my first target. Louis Cosce is 7-0 with seven wins coming before the end of the first bell. Cosce is a good wrestler but an excellent striker with five of his wins coming via knockout. He had to earn his way onto the UFC scene thru Dana White’s Contender Series recording a first-round knockout there. Victor Reyna was the fighter Cosce beat on the contender series and he held a solid 11-5 professional record. Vegas currently has Cosce as a -455 favorite over Palatnikov.

Palatnikov last fought with UAE in the Middle East. His last win was against a fighter that was 5-6 in the UAE. Palatnikov hasn’t faced good UFC competition yet other than Mounir Lazzez, but he lost via knockout in the first round. That is the likely outcome again for Palatnikov as Cosce continues to roll with his first-round win streak in his UFC debut.

Selection – Louis Cosce ($9,300) 1st round KO

Juaquin Buckley – ($8,900) vs Jordan Wright – ($7,300)

Wright had a fantastic UFC debut, using a knee to open a massive gash on Ike Villanueva that ultimately led to a doctor’s stoppage. Wright is trained by a former kick boxing champion and NCAA D1 wrestler. Looking at Wright’s 11 wins, six have come by knockout and five submission. He is a finishing machine, his kickboxing and knees are nasty as we saw recently. That is where he has an advantage training with a wrestler. Buckley has yet to have a takedown attempted on him, I expect that to change in this matchup. Especially if he feels Buckley’s power early. Wright will get this to the ground and search for the neck to get one of his chokes (likely rear naked choke).

Obviously Buckley had the insane spinning back kick knockout in his last matchup that went viral. The amount of strikes in that fight were extremely close though. He has the power and finish ability, but that 32% strike accuracy in the UFC scares me some. Buckley had calculated strikes in his previous fight and looked sharp even landing a takedown. He was constantly moving forward and rattling off combinations. This fight will not go the distance and is a tough fight to predict but I will take the savings of Jordan Wright. Other than Kevin Holland, Buckley’s last loss was to Logan Storley a Bellator fighter who’s foundation style is wrestling.

Selection – Jordan Wright ($7,300) 1st round submission

Brandon Moreno – ($8,600) vs Brandon Royval – ($7,600)

First off, this could be a fight of the night contender as I love the matchup for these two. Both fighters are exceptional in Jiu Jitsu, Royval holding a blackbelt. Proof of that as Royval has eight submission finishes in his twelve wins. Out of Moreno’s seventeen professional fighting wins ten have been by submission.

Royval has a value price tag on DraftKings given he’s only a +145 underdog in Vegas. Let’s breakdown the striking aspect for these two. Watching these two in their recent fights I give Royval a slight edge as his last fight was a striking matchup with Kara France where he scored two official knockdowns. Those knockdowns came after Kara France recorded his own knockdown on his first hit. In the UFC Royval has found a way to get submission attempts as he is averaging 3.2 attempts per fifteen minutes.

Moreno holds a brown belt in Jiu Jitsu so he’s no slouch in grappling either. He has shown he is a better striker than his early UFC days, but that strike accuracy of 34% is nearly 20% less that his opponents. If we backtrack to a fight just a year ago against a great grappler in Asker Askarov, the contest resulted in a draw. Moreno has looked sharp in his two fights since then out striking both of his opponents. Those two contests resulted in decision wins for Moreno. If this fight ends early, I see Royval being the winner. Even if Royval doesn’t get a finish he has a much better path to hitting value at his price with a decision win.

Selection – Brandon Royval ($7,600) 2nd round Submission

Daniel Rodriguez – ($9,100) vs Nicolas Dalby ($7,200)

This Welterweight bout will feature a fighter that throws absolute haymakers in Daniel Rodriguez. Daniel Rodriquez in his last fight recorded three knockdowns! Not just three knockdowns in a three round fight but in the first round! He has shown the ability to pay off this price tag without a knockout as well. Two fights ago he scored 125.5 DraftKings points in a three round fight. He recorded 175 significant strikes in his brawl with Gabe Green. I’m not sure that happens again but the volume of strikes is extraordinary. D-Rod is the much better striker in this matchup and has shown he can finish a fight with a submission in an impressive win over Tim Means (facing Mike Perry on this card).

As far as Dalby not much to like here for me. He could be on his last run in the UFC with his 2-4 record, with one win being split decision. He has been knocked down in four of his last five fights in the UFC and in the fight he didn’t get knocked down in he was taken down three times. In his last four fights he has had three submission attempts while being submitted once. He gets hit more per minute than he lands, partially due to the strike accuracy a low 38%. Sounds like tons of potential for Dalby to be finished but his opposition falling just short. Dalby in my opinion hasn’t faced a fighter with this power and he was still getting knocked down. D-Rod catches Dalby early and continues by hammer fisting his way to a first-round win.

Selection – Daniel Rodriguez ($9,100) 1st round KO

UFC 255 Fight Breakdown Closing Thoughts

As I mentioned earlier this UFC 255 Fight Breakdown article will be up on Thursday night before weigh ins. You’ll want to make sure you check out the Discord Chat rooms on Friday after weigh ins and Saturday before lock as I will be in there to answer any questions. This is a very intriguing fight card with tons of power and early finish potential, with two fights for hardware to cap the night off. Alex Perez for example I won’t have a bunch of, but he provides value in a fight that I don’t see going the distance. If he is able to finish that fight early in a five round bout he will likely exceed value tremendously. In UFC you must take some chances especially if you look to be different from the field in the big 150K to win contest. Thank you for taking the time to read my content. Good luck this UFC 255 weekend and WinDaily.

Best Bets for UFC 252

DFSGhost

UFC 252 Analysis:

Now that Dana White’s Contender Series is behind us, our next opportunity to make a significant deposit into our bank accounts during a global pandemic arrives on August 15th. Daniel “DC” Cormier takes on Stipe Miocic in a trilogy match for one final attempt at glory, hoping to dethrone the current Heavyweight king and retire as the UFC HW Champion. With this long awaited finale between the baddest men on the planet, we also have the pleasure of potentially witnessing new prospects emerge, current prospects solidifying their spots, along with veterans of the game proving that they still belong. Much rides on the results of UFC 252, as many new opportunities for multiple divisions can arise. Every single competitor on this card is fighting with a chip on their shoulder. There is only one goal in mind for the new, the current, and the old; prove to everyone, including yourself, that you are the best fighter in the world. Here are my best bets for UFC 252, all odds from FanDuel Sports Book.

Best Bets for UFC 252

Sean O’Malley: (-300) – Marlon “Chito” Vera (+245)

While still being considered a “prospect”, Sean O’Malley has made it clear that he belongs with the elite of the Bantamweight division. His staggering 12-0 professional record is no accident, with 9 of those wins ending via finish, having 8 of those finishes come in the first round. After walking away from his most recent scrap about 2 minutes after it started, nearly unscathed, Sean now faces his toughest test to date in Marlon “Chito” Vera. Chito has a very solid MMA base all around, and is by no means an easy fight. However, with O’Malley’s skillset on the feet, along with his reach and range, and with Chito coming off of a 3 round war with Song Ya Dong, I believe Sean should be able to implement his game plan of keeping the distance and catch his opponent as he presses forward.
My Pick: Sean O’Malley (-300)

Daniel Cormier: (-116) | Stipe Miocic (-102)

Now that DC has made it clear that this will be his final competition in combat sports, he is fighting with the belief that winning this fight will establish his legacy as one of the greatest fighters of all time. I believe DC approaches this fight with his absolute best, using his wrestling background to secure him a decisive victory, ultimately riding off into the sunset as the Heavyweight Champion of the world.
My Pick: Daniel Cormier (-116)

Herbert Burns: (-310) | Daniel Pineda (+250)

With his brother now the number 1 contender at the Welterweight division, Herbert Burns has never looked more eager to reach the same status of his own division. Coming off of a 5 fight win streak, 4 of which ending in the first round, Herbert is one of the most promising bets on the entire card. I expect him to come forward and pressure immediately, forcing the fight to the ground and securing a submission.
My Pick: Herbert Burns (-310)

Junior Dos Santos: (+134)

Once the UFC Heavyweight Champion of the world, Junior “JDS” Dos Santos finds himself in a bit of a bind. For the first time in his career, he is returning to The Octagon after two back to back losses. While he is getting up there in age, he has certainly proved on multiple occasions that he has the skills to put anyone to sleep. If you take into consideration the experience JDS has gained over his 28 professional MMA bouts, in comparison to his opponents 11 fights total, the odds of Junior getting the job done are higher than what the lines are presenting. If you are going to bet on an underdog for this card, bet on Junior.
My Pick: Junior Dos Santos (+134)

The UFC schedule continues to roll on this weekend and in the main event it’s the classic striker vs grappler matchup as heavyweights collide when Derrick Lewis and Alexi Oleinik meet. The heavyweight division is back up and running, and with the title being on the line next weekend at UFC 252 between champion Stipe Miocic and Daniel Cormier, this fight between Lewis and Oleinik certainly has implications in the division.

Before the card takes place on Saturday, here are my three favorite bets for the weekend, including one prelim fight.

Bet 1:

Beneil Dariush (-175) vs. Scott Holtzman (+140).

This fight is going to be a firefight, and right away, I’ll let my secret pick out of the bag, take the under on the rounds in this one. Dariush provided an absolute highlight knockout of Drakkar Klose, that is in contention for highlight of the year. Scott Holtzman is game for every opponent and not afraid to scrap, In his last two fights, Holtzman has gone to decision and also won by doctor stoppage at the end of the second round, but I really don’t see any way this fight goes past the middle of the second round. Dariush is coming off an incredible performance against Klose as previously mentioned, so I’m taking him and the under rounds in this fight.

Bet 2:

Chris Weidman (-125) vs. Omari Akhmedov (EVEN MONEY).

This is a very trick fight, but I have to advise to go with the favorite in this one, Chris Weidman. Although he’s 1-5 in his last six fights, don’t forget that a deeper look at the record shows more of the story. His last fight was at 205 pounds and he returns to middleweight (185) to take on Akhmedov. Also in that, there was the controversial ending in the fight against Gegard Mousasi at UFC 210, but all in all, in his last five losses, Weidman has been in the driver seat at one point or another. The task won’t be easy against Akhmedov who is riding a five fight winning streak, but coming back down to middleweight could do wonders for the former champion.

Bet 3:

Justin Jaynes (+110) vs. Gavin Tucker (-140).

At the time of this writing, Justin Jaynes is again the underdog as he prepares for yet another short-notice fight this time against Gavin Tucker. Jaynes made his UFC debut back in June, in what was also a short-notice fight and he made the most of it by securing a win with a 41-second knockout of veteran Frank Camacho. While Jaynes wasn’t expecting to fight a guy like Tucker right away, especially on short-notice, he’s shown during the crazy times that the world is currently operating on, and how the UFC is handling everything, that he can come in and make a statement. This fight could really go anywhere as both fighters are versatile, but the one-year layoff for Tucker and the recent activity for Jaynes makes him one of my top three favorites for this weekend’s card.

While there are high implications for the heavyweight division in this weekend’s main event, these three fights and bets are my top favorites for this weekend.

UFC Vegas 4: Poirier vs Hooker Picks and Preview

This weekend, the UFC Vegas 4 event at their Apex facility will play home to a high-stakes lightweight fight between two top contenders, Dustin Poirier and Dan Hooker. Poirier is the former interim lightweight champion, while Hooker, who is from City Kickboxing the same home as UFC middleweight champion Israel Adesanya. As Hooker looks to continue to rise up the lightweight division, he comes into this fight on a three-fight winning streak with wins over Paul Felder, Al Iaquinta, and James Vick. The rest of the card will be filled with young and fresh faces that not many will know, but there are some good opportunities to cash in on the rest of the card.

These odds are courtesy of PointsBet.
You can also find alternate lines at DraftKings Sportsbook and FanDuel Sportsbook.

Fight 1: Jordan Griffin (+100) vs Youssez Zalal (-125)

The veteran fighter, in comparison throws more strikes than Zalal but also takes more as well. Zalal utilizes his wrestling more than Griffin in comparison, but you should expect this fight to go to the ground.

It’s a pick’em fight so Mike’s pick: Zalal by submission

Fight 2: Jinh Yu Frey (+140) vs Kay Hansen (-175)

Both women are making their UFC debuts after spending their young careers in Invicta FC. Hansen is now the youngest fighter on the UFC roster and has half of her wins by submission. Frey is the more experienced fighter and former Invicta FC atomweight champion, with 6 of her 9 wins going to decision.

Mike’s pick: Hansen by decision

Fight 3: Takashi Sato vs Jason Witt (Currently no line)

This one is rare as Witt has stepped in on 24 hours notice to take on Sato after his original opponent had a cornerman test positive for COVID-19. There is no money line at this time, so avoid this fight.

Fight 4: Luis Pena (-270) vs Khama Worthy (+205)

This is my favorite fight of the night outside of the main event, because fireworks are not just promised, they’re guaranteed. Worthy landed the biggest betting upset in 2019 in his UFC debut with a first-round knockout of Devonte Smith. Worthy has more experience, but Pena has also delivered a showcase in each of his UFC appearances, as his only losses have come by split decision. Both fighters told the media they plan to meet in the middle and throw down, so a quick finish prop bet is not out of question. Pena is the safer pick, but Worthy has shown you cant’ bet against him.

Mike’s pick: Luis Pena

Fight 5: Sean Woodson (-500) vs Julian Erosa (+350)

These fights are usually eyebrow raisers, with Erosa coming in as the veteran but heavy underdog. Woodson is undefeated in his career and has a lot of promises to his career, but neither fighter wastes their time in the cage. Erosa comes in on a four-fight losing streak and facing an undefeated fighter, he has something to prove.

Mike’s pick: Sean Woodson

Fight 6: Tanner Boser (-112) vs Philipe Lins (-112)

A pick’em fight between heavyweights is just a fun fight to watch. Do not expect this fight to go to the ground, unless there’s a knockout occurring. They both share relatively similar cage experience, but after having his first two fights go to the judges, he will be looking to make a statement against higher competition.

Mike’s pick: Boser

Fight 7: Brendan Allen (-325) vs Kyle Daukaus (+240)

This is one of the most interesting fights on the card as Daukaus has an immense amount of talent and making his UFC debut against guy who has been looking for a fight. Daukaus will be the favorite in the striking department while Allen will look to utilize his wrestling. Allen has had multiple fights postponed and opponents changed during the pandemic, so there’s no telling how he comes into this fight other than amped up.

Mike’s pick: Kyle Daukaus

Fight 8: Maurice Greene (-230) vs Gian Villante (+180)

Big fan of this fight, but Greene recently changed camps to JacksonWink MMA in New Mexico, so it will be interesting to see what changes he has made since the move. Villante hasn’t fought since February 2019 but this fight should remain on the feet for the most part. Greene is very good in the clinch, but Villante has a takedown defense of over 80%. I expect this fight to stay on the feet and a finish to come sooner than later.

Mike’s pick: Gian Villante

Fight 9: Mike Perry (-325) vs Mickey Gall (+240)

This fight is quite interesting from the betting line standpoint. Mickey Gall is ridiculously talented, especially on the ground. Mike Perry comes to fight and is not afraid of a war, but if Gall gets this to the ground, it could be over quick.

Mike’s pick: Mickey Gall

Fight 10: Dustin Poirier (-225) vs Dan Hooker (+175)

This is a very risky fight from a gambling perspective. Poirier is the former interim lightweight champion and had Khabib Nurmagomedov in a serious choke in their fight last September. Hooker is coming in with a lot of momentum, and this fight should be more of a kickboxing fight than anything. The fact that Poirier has gone toe-to-toe with some of the most elite fighters over his career, gives him the edge in my opinion, but if you’re feeling risky on a parlay, take Hooker.

Mike’s pick: Dustin Poirier
