With just over 2 weeks left in the NHL season, things are starting to heat up! Each night brings a little more importance for the teams who are making their final playoff push. We get six games to break down tonight. Let’s find the best NHL DFS plays for DraftKings and FanDuel. Good luck!

Goalies

Jonas Johansson – Colorado Avalanche: The Avs head to Anaheim tonight to face the Ducks, who have been a bad team all year long. They have been struggling to score lately, and this should be a solid play for your cash games.

Marc-Andre Fleury – Minnesota Wild: The Wild host the Kraken tonight, and this should be a nice upside spot for Fleury. This should be a lower scoring game, so both goalies are in play, but the lean is MAF.

Ilya Sorokin – New York Islanders: The Isles host the Devils tonight, and Sorokin should see a lot of shot volume. The Isles have been good at limiting chances, so this should be a decent upside spot for Sorokin.

High Risk Goalie Pick – Karel Vejmelka – Arizona Coyotes: The Coyotes host the Oilers tonight, so no one will play Veggie. However, his numbers over his last five are very solid, and he should see a ton of shots. This is a very risky, high upside play tonight, and is a good way to gain a ton of leverage on the field.

Lines to Build Around

These NHL DFS lines are considered top plays for the night and can be considered the focal point of your builds. They will be listed by position in the following order: Center/Winger/Winger/Correlating Defenseman (if applicable).

Colorado Avalanche Power Play – Nathan MacKinnon/JT Compher/Valeri Nichushkin/Mikko Rantanen/Cale Makar: The Avalanche are in a fantastic spot tonight against the Ducks, who currently have the 30th ranked penalty killing unit, and are 7th in the league in time shorthanded per game. The Avs’ power play is ranked 4th in the league, and it should see a ton of opportunity tonight.

Florida Panthers Power Play – Aleksander Barkov/Matthew Tkachuk/Carter Verhaeghe/Sam Reinhart/Brandon Montour: The Panthers’ top line is in a great spot tonight, and could very well be overlooked. This is a reunion of sorts, and people will flock to Edmonton and Colorado. This line has huge upside and could be all the leverage you need.

High Risk Lines

These are NHL DFS plays that carry significantly more risk, but could pay off at low ownership. They will be listed by position in the following order: Center/Winger/Winger/Correlating Defenseman (if applicable).

Edmonton Oilers Power Play – Connor McDavid/Leon Draisaitl/Ryan Nugent-Hopkins/Zach Hyman/Evan Bouchard: We do have to talk about the Oilers tonight, because they are going to be heavily owned. Their power play unit is the way to go tonight, as Arizona is takes the most penalties in the league and is ranked 22nd on the penalty kill. This is the top unit in the league, so of course we need to consider them.

Montreal Canadiens 2 – Kirby Dach/Denis Gurianov/Jonathan Drouin: We are going to go back to the well with Montreal’s second line tonight, as they face a Sabres team who could be without Tage Thompson. Generally, they use Thompson’s line against the second line, which is a great setup to begin with, but with Thompson being out, it should open up some better chances for this line.

Ottawa Senators 3 – Dylan Gambrell/Julien Gauthier/Derick Brassard: One of the tougher parts about playing this slate is finding value. The top plays are all expensive, and not a lot of value looks ‘good’. This line should have some chances, but are the riskiest play on the board tonight.

Welcome back to the Friday Night WinDaily NHL Between the Benches Article! After another crazy week of hockey, we are greeted with a small three-game slate to start the weekend and continue the playoff push! Tonight’s 3/24 NHL slate begins at 7:00 pm ET. Don’t forget to lock your lines and check the discord for any updates! Let’s get right into it!

3/24 NHL Stack Report

1. New York Islanders 3 (Parise-Pageau-Fasching)

— The Islanders have been red hot as of late. They won their last three games including a 7-2 win over the Toronto Maple Leafs last Tuesday. They are playing great hockey and all of the Islanders top lines are getting involved in the scoring. I don’t expect much to change tonight. For starters, the Blue Jackets will be turning to veteran goaltender Michael Hutchinson who has not had the best of seasons for the Blue Jackets, giving up an average of five goals in each of his last three starts. On top of that, the Jackets have given up an average of around 7 goals over their last three games. The Islanders third line was impressive over the last few games with two goals and two assists in their last game against the Leafs. Usually the Islanders are not known as a high scoring team but they have been pouring it on as of late and if they can put up 7 goals against the Leafs, I would be shocked if they can’t do the same to the last placed Columbus Blue Jackets.

Ideal Defensive Partner(s): Noah Dobson

2. Colorado Avalanche 1 (Malgin-MacKinnon-Rantanen)

— Arizona has been rather surprising as of late but they were brought back down to earth in their last game against the Oilers giving up a lead with 8 minutes left, then succumbing to a masterclass from Connor McDavid in OT. Prior to their last game, the Avalanche were on a six game winning streak which included a 3-2 win over the Avalanche. Every goal the Avalanche scored involved a member of the top line and amongst themselves they registered two goals and two assists. Unfortunately for the Avalanche, they will be without a few top players (such as Makar, Landeskog and Rodrigues) but that gives an opportunity to players such as Malgin and Byram to make a case for themselves as the playoffs are fast approaching. The Avalanche are heavy favorites in this matchup for good reason and I would highly recommend having the Avalanche’s top players in your daily fantasy lineups tonight.

Ideal Defensive Partner(s): Bowen Byram

Honorable Mention(s): New York Islanders 2 (Engvall-Nelson-Palmieri), Buffalo Sabres 1 (Skinner-Thompson-Tuch)

3/24 NHL Goalie Tracker

Best (Goalies to Roster)

  1. Ilya Sorokin
  2. Alex Georgiev
    Honorable Mention(s): Craig Anderson

Worst (Goalies to Target)

1. Michael Hutchinson
Honorable Mention(s): Karel Vejmelka

3/24 NHL Wild Card Targets

Denis Malgin
– I know that he is in the second line of the article but I felt as though he was worth an extra mention in particular. As noted, he is getting a chance on Colorado’s top line due to injuries on the Avalanche roster and he has been impressive as of late with four points over his last three games. He has been seeing over 15 minutes of ice-time per game since the move up to the top line and I expect that to increase tonight as he has proven so far that he deserves a higher role in the Avalanche lineup. Malgin will also see time on Colorado’s second power play unit.

Honorable Mention(s): Timo Meier, JJ Moser, Cal Clutterbuck, Zach Parise

Core Four: (ALWAYS BE STACKIN’)

Center Nathan MacKinnon

Winger Denis Malgin

Defenseman – Noah Dobson

Goalie Ilya Sorokin

The NHL season continues to grind on, and we get a nice little 5 game slate tonight. With just about a dozen games remaining, things are going to get very interesting. Let’s find the best NHL DFS plays for DraftKings and FanDuel. Good luck!

Goalies

Pheonix Copley – Los Angeles Kings: The Kings host the Flames tonight, and this looks like a decent upside spot for Copley. The Flames have been shooting quite a bit recently.

Sergei Bobrovsky – Florida Panthers: This is an interesting play, as the Panthers head to Detroit to take on the Red Wings. Bob has been notoriously inconsistent, but the matchup here should suit him well.

High Risk Goalie Pick – Alex Stalock – Chicago Blackhawks: The Hawks head to Colorado tonight, and this is about as risky as it gets. Colorado can be a lethal team when they want to be, and there is a chance that they do that tonight. However, Stalock has been playing well, and there will be a ton of shots fired his way. If he can hold his own, his upside here will be fantastic. If you play Stalock, you have to be okay with fading Colorado.

Others to Consider: Alexandar Georgiev (COL), Stuart Skinner (EDM)

Lines to Build Around

These NHL DFS lines are considered top plays for the night and can be considered the focal point of your builds. They will be listed by position in the following order: Center/Winger/Winger/Correlating Defenseman (if applicable).

Edmonton Oilers 1 – Connor McDavid/Evander Kane/Zach Hyman/Evan Bouchard: This feels like a pretty obvious play tonight, but it is very hard to argue. The McDavid line should see a lot of time against the depth for San Jose tonight, which sets them up very nicely. They are a prolific scoring line, and they should be heavily owned. Fade at your own risk.

Colorado Avalanche 1 – Nathan MacKinnon/Evan Rodrigues/Mikko Rantanen/Cale Makar: This matchup for Colorado is undeniably good. They should see the second line for the Hawks for most of the night, and should have a ton of chances. You can also replace Rodrigues with Nichushkin for a power play look if you prefer. They will be heavy chalk, but having Edmonton on the slate should help even it out. There is a little bit of risk here, given that the Hawks haven’t been giving up that many goals lately, even though they have not really been winning. Stalock has also been decent. However, the chances should be plentiful, and a team like this can usually capitalize. Make sure you don’t stack them against Stalock if you are playing him in net.

High Risk Lines

These are NHL DFS plays that carry significantly more risk, but could pay off at low ownership. They will be listed by position in the following order: Center/Winger/Winger/Correlating Defenseman (if applicable).

Florida Panthers 2 – Sam Bennett/Carter Verhaeghe/Matthew Tkachuk: This second line should see a lot of time against Detroit’s second line tonight in a really nice matchup. These guys could actually be a really nice leverage play if you decide to fade both Edmonton and Colorado, and it could be a great way to be different.

San Jose Sharks 3 – Nico Sturm/Martin Kaut/Noah Gregor: This line will see a lot of the top Edmonton line tonight. While the top Edmonton line is very good at offense, they are also not great at defense. Since this line will be chasing them around a lot, it carries a ton of risk, but there should be some opportunities for this line to score. They won’t be owned and are worth a look in deep GPP.

Pittsburgh Penguins 2 – Evgeni Malkin/Jason Zucker/Bryan Rust: What a week it has been for the Penguins. Eight days ago, they beat the Rangers on home ice, then promptly went on to lose their next three straight, giving up 16 goals in three games. Tonight, they face Ottawa, who have given up the exact same number of goals in the exact same number of games. Ottawa has been bleeding chances and goals, so this is a pretty good spot for the second line. They should see a little bit of both top lines tonight.

Ottawa Senators 1 – Tim Stutzle/Drake Batherson/Brady Tkachuk: The same applies for Ottawa tonight that does for Pittsburgh. This line has a nice matchup against the top six for Pittsburgh, and a game stack (if it fits) is not out of the question here.

Welcome to the Saturday Slapshot! There are 7 games in the NHL tonight, making for a nice slate for us to dive into. Let’s find the best NHL DFS plays for DraftKings and FanDuel. Good luck!

Goalies

Brian Elliott – Tampa Bay Lightning: Tampa hosts Montreal tonight, and this should be a very solid matchup for Elliott. There is going to be limited upside here, so this can be reserved for cash/small SE GPPs.

Joonas Korpisalo – Los Angeles Kings: Korpi has a home date with the Canucks tonight, and looks like he is in a very solid spot.

Ilya Sorokin – New York Islanders: Sorokin and the Isles head to San Jose tonight to take on the Sharks, who have been struggling to score recently. This is a nice spot for Sorokin, and on the surface, seems like a low upside play. However, the Islanders give up a lot of chances and shots, so the upside here could be surprising.

High Risk Goalie Pick – Casey DeSmith – Pittsburgh Penguins: It’s hard to ignore the fact that the Rangers and Pens just played in New York the other night, and the Pens lost 4-2. There are a couple of differences, though. First is the goalie matchup. Last game out, Jarry was in for Pitt, and tonight, it appears that DeSmith may get the nod. DeSmith’s numbers look pretty good of late, and he should see a lot of shot volume. Expect Pittsburgh to make some adjustments in the way they play tonight, so this is an interesting risky pick.

Others to Consider: Igor Shesterkin (NYR)

Lines to Build Around

These NHL DFS lines are considered top plays for the night and can be considered the focal point of your builds. They will be listed by position in the following order: Center/Winger/Winger/Correlating Defenseman (if applicable).

Tampa Bay Lightning Power Play – Brayden Point/Steven Stamkos/Nikita Kucherov/Alex Killorn/Mikhail Sergachev: It is really, really hard to poke holes in this play tonight. The Lighting get to face the Canadiens tonight, in Tampa. Montreal sports the 30th ranked PK and takes the 9th most penalties in the league. This is going to be a popular play, but for very good reason. Killorn is a way to get different, and so are some of the risky lines you can pair them with.

Toronto Maple Leafs 1 – Auston Matthews/Mitch Marner/Calle Jarnkrok/Morgan Rielly: This matchup is a lot about the goalie matchup, but also about the team matchup. The Sens are bleeding chances like crazy, and a line like this should be able to capitalize on that, plus the fact that Sogaard has been very bad recently.

High Risk Lines

These are NHL DFS plays that carry significantly more risk, but could pay off at low ownership. They will be listed by position in the following order: Center/Winger/Winger/Correlating Defenseman (if applicable).

Los Angeles Kings 2 – Phillip Danault/Trevor Moore/Viktor Arvidsson: The Kings take on the Canucks tonight, and this line should see the second Canucks line in a very, very nice matchup.

New York Islanders 1 – Bo Horvat/Anders Lee/Simon Holmstrom: The Islanders’ top line should see a date with the depth of the Sharks in a plus matchup. Holmstrom provides a good bit of value, and this line could be sneaky since they are the late game.

Ottawa Senators 2 – Ridly Greig/Claude Giroux/Alex Debrincat: Ottawa’s second line should see a really, really nice matchup against the second line for the Leafs tonight. The Sens have been struggling recently, but there should be plenty of chances to light the lamp tonight in a high event matchup.

Arizona Coyotes 1 – Barrett Hayton/Brett Ritchie/Clayton Keller/Juuso Valimaki: This game should see little defense and tons of chances. The risk is that the scoring can come from anywhere on both sides of it. The top line for Arizona has generally been doing some damage, so we lean there.

Chicago Blackhawks 1 – Philipp Kurashev/Andreas Athanasiou/Lukas Reichel/Seth Jones: As mentioned above, there should be plenty of scoring opportunities tonight in this Chicago/Arizona game. Both teams struggle on defense, so both top lines should have chances to score tonight. This top line should see the first and third for Arizona, and that sets them up for an interesting look.

Dallas Stars 2 – Wyatt Johnson/Evgenii Dadonov/Jamie Benn: This is a nice spot for the second line for the Stars tonight, who should see a matchup against the top and third line for the Flames. This line has been performing well, and has a chance to do it again tonight.

NHL DFS Honorable Mentions: CGY2, NYI3, PIT1, NYR1

Welcome back to the Friday Night WinDaily NHL Between the Benches Article! After another crazy week of hockey, we are greeted with a small four-game slate to start the weekend! (and Happy St. Paddy’s Day to all celebrating!) Tonight’s 3/17 NHL slate begins at 7:00 pm ET. Don’t forget to lock your lines and check the discord for any updates! Let’s get right into it!

3/17 NHL Stack Report

1. Buffalo Sabres 1 (Skinner-Thompson-Tuch)

— The Sabres are coming into Philadelphia today in the midst of a playoff push and are looking for a big statement tonight against a down-and-out Flyers team. The Sabres haven’t exactly been the star-studded offensive powers that some fans have expected them to be, but that does not hold a candle to how bad the Flyers have been as of late. Not only are the Flyers in the middle of a four-game losing streak, but they have lost eight of their last nine games, only being able to defeat the Red Wings 3-1. Defensively the Flyers have been ok and not too different than the Sabres, but offensively, there is a BIG contrast. While the Sabres sit near the top of the league in Goals, Shooting % and Power Play %, the Flyers sit near last or even dead last in the league for some of these categories. Realistically, I don’t think that the Flyers’ defence will even have much of an answer to the Sabres’ offensive pressure tonight. Especially not the Sabres’ top line, who have been one of the main contributors to their success. All four top-liners have at least four points over their last five games, with Alex Tuch leading the way with four goals and one assist. Even after the first line has finished the shift, Buffalo has offensive weapons on their second and depth lines. With Buffalo in the playoff hunt, they will be even more dangerous, and I am heavily leaning toward the Sabres’ offence for tonight’s slate.

Ideal Defensive Partner(s): Owen Power (Dahlin plays on the top PP, but Power has been playing better as of late)

2. Washinton Capitals 1 (Ovechkin-Strome-Sheary)

— This pick is a little off the beaten path. Although some of the more established juggernaut offences like Toronto and Carolina are on the slate today. They are playing against each other and may be able to neutralize their opponent’s offensive output. Whereas with the Capitals, I think they are coming against the Kings of inconsistency in the St. Louis Blues and are coming in with some hop in their step after their shootout win over the Sabres in their last game. The Blues, on the other hand, are coming into this game with no momentum. After coughing up eight goals in an 8-5 loss to the Wild, where their starting goalie went haywire and earned himself a two-game suspension. They are now coming into Washington with the worst odds of the night and their backup, Thomas Greiss, in between the pipes. Greiss has been a serviceable goalie in the past, but this season he has a 7-9 record, a 3.45 Goals against average and a sub .900 save percentage. Under normal circumstances, this game may be closer, but tonight, I think there’s a lot leaning toward the Capitals. Their top-line offence has also been hot as of late, with Ovechkin and Strome combining for four goals and seven assists over their last five games, with both Strome and Ovechkin on the Caps’ top power-play unit as well. I’m expecting the Caps’ top line to have a field day against the Blues tonight.

Ideal Defensive Partner(s): Rasmus Sandin

Honorable Mention(s): Toronto Maple Leafs 1 (Marner-Matthews-Jarnkrok), Carolina Hurricanes 1 (Svechnikov-Aho-Jarvis)

3/17 NHL Goalie Tracker

Best (Goalies to Roster)

  1. Craig Anderson
  2. Ilya Samsonov
    Honorable Mention(s): Darcy Kuemper

Worst (Goalies to Target)

1. Carter Hart
Honorable Mention(s): Lukas Dostal

3/17 NHL Wild Card Targets

Jakub Vrana
– Now, although I am not high on the Blues as a team to win tonight. Vrana definitely cannot be overlooked. Acquired at the deadline, Vrana is a versatile winger who will be a valuable piece for them in future seasons. As of late, he’s been performing really well, too. He’s got four goals over his last four games and is seeing time on the Blues’ top power-play unit. Although they haven’t been winning games, the Blues have been getting on the scoresheet. Vrana can also provide some excellent value from a Daily Fantasy perspective since he also takes a lot of shots, averaging over three goals in his last four games. So, although Vrana is not a top talent in the league, he has been producing recently and is a good value play that should come in under-owned tonight.

Honorable Mention(s): Dylan Strome, Rasmus Sandin, TJ Oshie, Dylan Cozens

Core Four: (ALWAYS BE STACKIN’)

Center Auston Matthews

Winger Alex Tuch

Defenseman – Owen Power (Rasmus Sandin has good Value)

Goalie Craig Anderson

Welcome to another edition of the Man Advantage! Tonight is a very small three game slate in the NHL. It’s important to get a little bit different on these, even if it’s just one player that gives you an edge. Let’s check out our DFS picks for DraftKings and FanDuel. Good luck!

Goalies

Alexander Georgiev – Colorado Avalanche: This is considered a ‘safe’ pick tonight, as the Avalanche take on the Canadiens in Montreal. The Canadiens are struggling this year, and they don’t shoot a ton, so the upside will be limited here, but he should get a win. In deeper GPP, it’s better to go elsewhere.

High Risk Goalie Pick – Ukko-Pekka Luukkonen – Buffalo Sabres: The Sabres head to Toronto tonight to take on the Leafs, who have been just OK recently. They are not generating as many chances as you would expect. However, both teams in this game are allowing a lot of chances and both teams shoot quite a bit. Luukkonen should see some shot volume, and since Toronto is going to be popular, this is a good leverage play.

Other Goalie Notes: It’s a short slate, so correlating your goalies with stacks isn’t a bad idea. The two goalies above are definitely ones that you can focus on, but don’t be afraid to take some chances elsewhere. For example, if you fade Colorado, take a chance on Allen, or fade Dallas and take a chance on Grubauer. No goalie is off limits tonight (but that doesn’t mean any of them are great).

Lines to Build Around

These NHL DFS lines are considered top plays for the night and can be considered the focal point of your builds. They will be listed by position in the following order: Center/Winger/Winger/Correlating Defenseman (if applicable).

Colorado Avalanche 1 – Nathan MacKinnon/Mikko Rantanen/Evan Rodrigues/Cale Makar: This line will be popular tonight, for very, very good reason. They should see a lot of the second line for the Canadiens tonight in a very juicy matchup. You can add JT Compher into this stack wherever you see fit to be different and create a power play look.

High Risk Lines

These are NHL DFS plays that carry significantly more risk, but could pay off at low ownership. They will be listed by position in the following order: Center/Winger/Winger/Correlating Defenseman (if applicable).

Buffalo Sabres 2 – Dylan Cozens/Jack Quinn/JJ Peterka: This second line for Buffalo should see a bunch of the Matthews line tonight in a high event matchup. The top line for Toronto allows quite a few chances, both standard and high danger, setting this line up for an interesting night.

Montreal Canadiens 2 – Jonathan Drouin/Josh Anderson/Mike Hoffman: This line, matched up against the top Colorado line, is in a very interesting spot. For as good as the top Colorado line is on offense, they are giving up tons of shots and chances. Georgiev, who should be fairly popular tonight, has some holes in his stats, so there is upside to be had here.

Seattle Kraken 1 – Matty Beniers/Jordan Eberle/Jared McCann: In their last game, the Kraken matched this line to the third line for the Stars. That should set up a nice matchup for this line tonight, so long as they run the same matching schemes. Make sure Eberle is in before committing to this line, though. He may be out.

Dallas Stars 2 – Wyatt Johnson/Evgenii Dadonov/Jamie Benn: This line should see the third line for the Kraken in a decent matchup. It’s not a great matchup, but could be a sneaky play tonight on a volatile slate.

NHL DFS Honorable Mentions: TOR1, BUF1, DAL1

Value Options – DraftKings

Consider these NHL DFS plays to help save you some salary in your lineups on DraftKings. Be sure to stack!

Center: Jonathan Drouin ($2900) – Montreal Canadiens

Wing: JJ Peterka ($2700) – Buffalo Sabres

Defense: Jani Hakanpaa ($2800) – Dallas Stars

Value Options – FanDuel

Consider these NHL DFS plays to help save you some salary in your lineups on FanDuel. Be sure to stack!

Center: Alexander Kerfoot ($4100) – Winnipeg Jets

Wing: Jonathan Drouin ($4000) – Montreal Canadiens

Defense: Jani Hakanpaa ($3900) – Dallas Stars

Another Tuesday, another large 10 game slate. There appears to be a lot of lopsided games tonight, so it should be interesting trying to break this one down. Let’s find the best NHL DFS plays for DraftKings and FanDuel. Good luck!

Goalies

Ilya Sorokin – New York Islanders: This looks like a very good spot tonight for Sorokin, who has been very solid of late. The Sabres are on the back end of a back to back, which is a good target for trying to find a goalie. The Sabres also have been shooting quite a bit, which should help the upside here.

Filip Gustavsson – Minnesota Wild: The Wild host the Flames tonight, and Gus has had some very nice looking numbers. The Flames are also on a back to back, which makes this play a little nicer.

John Gibson – Anaheim Ducks: Gibby and the Ducks take on the Kraken tonight, and this is definitely a high risk pick. However, while the Kraken have been winning, they are only scoring 2.4 goals per game over their last five. Gibson has very solid numbers over the same stretch, and can definitely be used in deeper GPPs. There will definitely be some leverage in this play tonight.

High Risk Goalie Pick – Carter Hart – Philadelphia Flyers: The Flyers head to Tampa tonight to take on a Lightning team who is on a skid right now. This is a sneaky spot for a goalie who has been decent all year, but is on a terrible team. This one is more about leverage in the right spot than it is about upside, even though the real Tampa team should fire away.

Others to Consider: Karel Vejmelka (ARI), Antti Raanta (CAR), Tristan Jarry (PIT), Sergei Bobrovsky (FLA), Alexandar Georgiev (COL)

Lines to Build Around

These NHL DFS lines are considered top plays for the night and can be considered the focal point of your builds. They will be listed by position in the following order: Center/Winger/Winger/Correlating Defenseman (if applicable).

Pittsburgh Penguins 1 – Sidney Crosby/Jake Guentzel/Rickard Rakell/Kris Letang: The Pens host the Blue Jackets tonight in a nice matchup, and this top line should see their depth lines. That sets up a really nice matchup for them.

Colorado Avalanche 1 – Nathan MacKinnon/Valeri Nichushkin/Artturi Lehkonen/Cale Makar: The Avs face the Sharks tonight in what is a nice looking matchup for them and this top line. They should see the top line for the Sharks in a very nice matchup. Throw Kahkonen in net, and this line could be lethal tonight.

Carolina Hurricanes Power Play – Sebastian Aho/Andrei Svechnikov/Martin Necas/Stefan Noesen/Brent Burns: Carolina has a very, very juicy spot tonight against the Canadiens, who have been struggling on defense. This unit gets the 28th ranked penalty killing unit, and the Canadiens take the 9th most penalties in the league. When playing this unit, make sure you get a piece of the second line (Necas) in there.

New York Islanders 1 – Bo Horvat/Pierre Engvall/Anders Lee/Noah Dobson: This top line has a date with the Sabres’ second line tonight in what should be a fantastic matchup for them. The upside here looks really nice, and they should see their fair share of chances. Palmieri and Nelson can also be mixed and matched in this setup to create a power play look.

High Risk Lines

These are NHL DFS plays that carry significantly more risk, but could pay off at low ownership. They will be listed by position in the following order: Center/Winger/Winger/Correlating Defenseman (if applicable).

Philadelphia Flyers 2 – Kevin Hayes/Wade Allison/James van Riemsdyk: This is a great leverage spot, as the Lightning have been on an absolute skid, giving up 3.4 goals against per game over their last five.

Florida Panthers 2 – Sam Bennett/Matthew Tkachuk/Carter Verhaeghe: The Panthers take on the Golden Knights tonight in Florida, and this line has been the better scoring line for the Cats. They are in a decent spot tonight.

New Jersey Devils 1 – Nico Hischier/Tomas Tatar/Dawson Mercer/Dougie Hamilton: This top line should be paired up against the Toronto top line all night long, setting them up for a very juicy matchup. This should be a high event game, with some weak goaltending, so there should be a lot of scoring here. Consider a power play look here as well, as both top lines are in a decent spot.

Arizona Coyotes 1 – Barrett Hayton/Nick Schmaltz/Clayton Keller/Juuso Valimaki: The Coyotes are in a good spot against a bad St. Louis team. Since this is the only productive line out of Arizona right now, we can keep it simple with this play. Risky? Of course, but there should be some chances here.

Seattle Kraken 2 – Alex Wennberg/Oliver Bjorkstrand/Jaden Schwartz: If you choose not to play Gibson in net, then you can definitely give this line a look tonight. They should have a straight up matchup against Anaheim 2, setting them up for a lot of chances. Gibson has been good, so there is risk, but they are worth a shot if you are playing multiple lineups.

March has kicked off with a bang! Lots of moves at the trade deadline gave us some interesting new looks. Something to keep in mind this time of year is that things will take a little bit to settle out after the trades all throughout the NHL. Tonight gives us a nice little six game slate with some guys on new teams. Let’s check out our DFS picks for DraftKings and FanDuel. Good luck!

Goalies

Cam Talbot – Ottawa Senators: The Sens have been red hot lately, and they get a very nice matchup tonight against the Chicago Blackhawks, who are running a minor league roster after the trade deadline. Talbot is a fairly safe play, but may not see a lot of upside.

Thatcher Demko – Vancouver Canucks: Both teams in this Nashville/Vancouver game have been allergic to scoring of late, so you can use either goalie in this game, depending on your salary/build.

Pheonix Copley – Los Angeles Kings: Copley gets a date with the Caps tonight, who have been scoring. That presents a little bit of risk in this play, but it is definitely intriguing. There should be some upside volume here.

High Risk Goalie Pick – Craig Anderson – Buffalo Sabres: The Sabres are hosting the Oilers tonight, who are only scoring 2.4 goals per game over their last five. This is a very low number for a team that can be explosive. Anderson should see a ton of volume, and the Sabres have been allowing a ton of chances, so the upside is there. The risk is of course that it’s Edmonton and they can blow up for 8 goals on any given night.

Others to Consider: Juuse Saros (NSH), David Rittich (WPG)

Lines to Build Around

These NHL DFS lines are considered top plays for the night and can be considered the focal point of your builds. They will be listed by position in the following order: Center/Winger/Winger/Correlating Defenseman (if applicable).

Ottawa Senators 1 – Tim Stutzle/Claude Giroux/Brady Tkachuk/Thomas Chabot: As mentioned above, the Sens have been red hot, and this is the line doing the damage. They have a fantastic spot tonight against the Blackhawks, and there is no reason to think they can’t keep it up. They should be fairly heavily owned, but for very good reason. Debrincat with this line makes the power play unit, which is another way you can approach them.

High Risk Lines

These are NHL DFS plays that carry significantly more risk, but could pay off at low ownership. They will be listed by position in the following order: Center/Winger/Winger/Correlating Defenseman (if applicable).

Buffalo Sabres 1 – Tage Thompson/Jack Quinn/Jeff Skinner/Rasmus Dahlin: The Sabres’ top line has been playing well of late, and they get an interesting home date with the Oilers tonight. This should be a high event game, and Edmonton can certainly be scored on. Skinner for the Oilers has some recent numbers that aren’t too great, so this looks like a really nice leverage spot.

Dallas Stars 2 – Wyatt Johnson/Evgenii Dadonov/Jamie Benn: This second line will see a bunch of the top line for the Flames in a plus matchup. The numbers for this matchup aren’t astounding, but there is some reason to believe that they should see some decent chances tonight. DAL3 is intriguing as well, but are even riskier.

Winnipeg Jets 3 – Adam Lowry/Vladislav Namestnikov/Morgan Barron: This line has a fantastic matchup tonight against the top line for the Sharks. They also get Reimer in net, who has been rough recently. This could very well be a top value line tonight.

Ottawa Senators 3 – Dylan Gambrell/Julien Gauthier/Mathieu Joseph: This play is strictly about opportunity. Line matching suggests that this line will see the top Hawks’ line all night, which sets them up for a bunch of chances.

Los Angeles Kings 2 – Phillip Danault/Viktor Arvidsson/Kevin Fiala: The Kings’ second line has a nice matchup tonight against the top line for the Capitals. That top line is allowing tons of chances, so there should be plenty of opportunity for scoring for this line tonight.
