It may be Super Bowl Sunday but well before that, we have a four-game Sunday NHL DFS slate! Aside from reading the 2/12 NHL DFS article, don’t forget to check out our NHL DFS Projection Model which is available every morning. If you like what you see, sign up for more Win Daily content here.

2/12 NHL Main Slate of Games – Beginning 12:30 p.m. ET

*All odds and player pricing below have been obtained from DraftKings and are accurate as of the time of writing*

Edmonton Oilers (-250) at Montreal Canadiens (+210)6.5 Projected Goal Total

San Jose Sharks (+175) at Washington Capitals (-205)6.5 Projected Goal Total

Seattle Kraken (-150) at Philadelphia Flyers (+130)6.5 Projected Goal Total

Anaheim Ducks (+280) at Vegas Golden Knights (-340)6.5 Projected Goal Total

San Jose One – “Tomas Hertl ($5,900), Tino Meier ($8,100), Noah Gregor ($3,900)

The Sharks are +175 underdogs here on the road in Washington. As a result, more people will lean towards Edmonton for a spend-up. However, given this line’s general performance this season they should be popular enough on a four-game slate. Despite losing Kevin Labanc off this line, the main two skaters remain. For the season, they are fifth in the NHL in SATF with 402. The total is set here at 6.5 so it’s not like goals aren’t expected. San Jose has been up and down as of late, but they are still scoring goals so that’s not part of their problem. Darcy Kuemper played yesterday so we don’t have to worry about him in the opposing net. The Sharks will be facing off with Charlie Lindgren who before picking a win Tuesday night had been 0-2-0 with a very rough .845 save percentage over his prior four appearances.

Season Long Sample Size – SATF “accounts for all shots including blocked and missed shots”

2/12 NHL Favorite Contrarian Line

Seattle Three – “Eeli Tolvanen ($4,700), Yanni Gourde ($3,800), Oliver Bjorkstrand ($4,600)”

In terms of more recent production, this line has been solid. Over the last ten games, they are fifth in the NHL along all lines in terms of SATF. Seattle is a -150 money-line favorite here, facing the Flyers who come in on the second night of a back-to-back. If that wasn’t enough to sell you on the Kraken’s third line, well, they are also cheap. I don’t mind just running a two-man here “Tolvanen has access to the top power-play unit so he’s likely in any two-man stack but the rest is flexible”. With Carter Hart having started in net for the Flyers on Saturday, Seattle will draw the atrocious Felix Sandstrom “3.45 GAA/.886 save %”.

10-Day Long Sample Size – SATF “accounts for all shots including blocked and missed shots”

Defenseman and Goalie

Defenseman

Dmitry Kulikov – Anaheim – $3,300 – Super cheap and double-digit DraftKings points in four of his last six games “and 9.7 in another just barely missing 5/6”.

Goalie

Adin Hill – Vegas – $8,300 – This is an awful slate for goalies. As mentioned earlier, I think Darcy Kuemper is going to be popular. However, if you roster San Jose he doesn’t make any sense. Therefore, instead, let’s look at Vegas and Adin Hill. The Golden Knights are massive -340 favorites against a Ducks team who does little well. Hill’s 2.58 GAA for the season is very strong.

2/12 NHL Best Bet

Montreal +1.5 (-125) – DraftKings – 1 Unit – As far as the raw money lines go, the Sharp model has Montreal at +161 as opposed to their Vegas odds of +215. This is a difference of a whopping 20.31% EV. That said, I’d rather target the spread than the outright money line.

Welcome back to the Friday Night WinDaily NHL Between the Benches Article! The all-star game is now behind us and we are now looking forward to the Trade deadline! We already saw some big moves take place and I have a feeling there is still a surprise or two left to come! Tonight, we will have a small 4-game slate, with lots of interesting matchups to look at! Tonight’s 2/10 NHL slate begins at 7:00 pm ET. Don’t forget to lock your lines and check the discord for any updates! Let’s get right into it!

2/10 NHL Stack Report

1. Toronto Maple Leafs 1 (Bunting-Tavares-Marner)

— Today is Day 1 of a home and away back-to-back vs the Columbus Blue Jackets and right off the bat. Aside from the obvious fact that the fourth placed team in the league is going up against the team in dead last, the most glaring difference between these two teams is the statistics. Offensively, Toronto is in the top 10 in goals per game while the Blue Jackets find themselves tied for 3rd last in the league in goals and on the power play, the Leafs are converting power plays into goals at a 25% clip which lands them 6th in the league and on the other the side, the Blue Jackets have a 16.4% power play conversion rate, landing them at 4th-worst team in the league on the power play. Defensively, it’s even worse, despite the Leafs goalie struggles it doesn’t hold a candle to how badly the Jackets have been performing on their own end of the ice. They allow an average of 35 shots on goal per game and give up an average of 3.86 goals per game. Even without Matthews, the Blue Jackets don’t have much of a chance in this matchup. Mitch Marner is a top target for me here, as with Matthews staying sidelined for tonight’s game Marner will see an increased role alongside his linemates Tavares and Bunting. Marner already leads the Leafs in points and has been hot as of late as he is currently on a four game point streak. All three of the Leafs top liners will see power play time against the Blue Jackets weak penalty kill and I think there will be a lot of goals to go around for the Leafs top scorers tonight. Despite the odd vintage performance from Gaudreau or Laine, the Jackets are consistently disappointing. The Leafs on the other hand, have been consistently scoring lots of goals and have seen success on both sides of the ice. With an implied total of 4.1 goals in comparison to the Blue Jackets 2.6 goals, I would highly recommend having exposure to the Leafs top line in tonight’s matchup.

Ideal Defensive Partner(s): Morgan Rielly

2. Arizona Coyotes 1 (Keller-Hayton-Schmaltz)

— Usually, I wouldn’t give many players on the Coyotes a second look but against the Blackhawks tonight, they are actually coming in as the favourites. As divisional rivals, the Coyotes sit just ahead of the Blackhawks in the standings and offensively sit just above them as well. Arizona’s Nick Schmaltz has really been putting things together as of late. Over his last five games he has four goals and three assists and regularly sees over 20 minutes of ice time per game. Along with his linemates, Schmaltz also appears on the Coyotes’ top power play unit which is coming up against the 24th ranked penalty kill in the league. Arizona’s top line is a cheap play which allows you to squeeze in some of the higher end player while still picking a team that is favoured to win and picking a line that will see a good deal of ice-time tonight.

Ideal Defensive Partner(s): Jakob Chychrun

Honorable Mention(s): Pittsburgh Penguins 1 (Rakell-Crosby-Guentzel), New York Rangers 1 (Panarin-Zibanejad-Tarasenko)

2/10 NHL Goalie Tracker

Best (Goalies to Roster)

  1. Ilya Samsonov
  2. Karel Vejmelka
Honorable Mention(s): Igor Shesterkin, Tristan Jarry, DEEP GPP: Jaxson Stauber

Worst (Goalies to Target)

1. Joonas Korpisalo
Honorable Mention(s): Philipp Grubauer

2/10 NHL Wild Card Targets

Frank Vatrano
– I know that in the Pittsburgh v Anaheim matchup tonight most people would lean towards the Pens but it’s hard to ignore the success that Vatrano has had recently on the Ducks second line. Over his last five games, Vatrano has registered 5 goals and 2 assists and averaged around 16 minutes of ice time per game. Vatrano does see time on the second power play unit but has done most of his damage on even strength. With the Pens allowing over 3 goals per game and over 34 shots against per game, I think Vatrano can definitely get on the score sheet tonight and is worth a look.
Honorable Mention(s): Filip Chytil, Alexis Lafrenier, William Nylander

Core Four: (ALWAYS BE STACKIN’)

Center Filip Chytil

Winger Mitchell Marner (Honorable Mention: Vladimir Tarasenko)

Defenseman – Jakob Chychrun

Goalie Ilya Samsonov

Unlike the usual over-the-top Thursday slate, tonight we have a nice medium-sized eight-game slate in front of us. With only a couple of big favorites, there should be a decent amount of parity. Aside from reading the 2/9 NHL DFS article, don’t forget to check out our NHL DFS Projection Model which is available every morning. If you like what you see, sign up for more Win Daily content here.

2/9 NHL Main Slate of Games – Beginning 7 p.m. ET

*All odds and player pricing below have been obtained from DraftKings and are accurate as of the time of writing*

Calgary Flames (-150) at Detroit Red Wings (+130)6 Projected Goal Total

San Jose Sharks (+180) at Florida Panthers (-210)7 Projected Goal Total

Pittsburgh Penguins (-105) at Washington Capitals (-115)6.5 Projected Goal Total

Seattle Kraken (+140) at New Jersey Devils (-165)6.5 Projected Goal Total

Edmonton Oilers (-180) at Philadelphia Flyers (+155)6.5 Projected Goal Total

Colorado Avalanche (+105) at Tampa Bay Lightning (-125)6 Projected Goal Total

Vancouver Canucks (+185) at New York Islanders (-215)6.5 Projected Goal Total

Vegas Golden Knights (+105) at Minnesota Wild (-125)6 Projected Goal Total

Florida Two – “Sam Bennett ($5,000), Matthew Tkachuk ($8,000), Carter Verhaeghe ($6,500)

The Panthers are featured in a rare seven total game tonight. Furthermore, they’re neck and neck with the Islanders for the title of the slate’s biggest favorite (-210) vs (-215). This line has been the better of the two as of late, particularly in terms of peripheral stats. Florida’s second line has 124 SATF over the last ten games good for a tie for second-best among all NHL lines. Carter Verhaeghe has been individually been a monster lately with double-digit DraftKings points in eight of his last nine games. This includes a whopping four-point night “40.5 DraftKings points” against the Lightning on Monday.

10-Day Sample Size – SATF “accounts for all shots including blocked and missed shots”

2/9 NHL Favorite Contrarian Line

Calgary Three – “Mikael Backlund ($4,700), Andrew Mangiapane ($3,800), Blake Coleman ($3,700)”

I previously whiffed on them but given their amazing stats of late and cheap price, don’t mind going back to the well. The Flames are -155 road favorites here and so despite the six total, it is a good spot attacking Detroit depth lines. Blake Coleman individually will/should be popular given his amazing return on investment with a $3,700 price tag. Coleman has put up 24 and 33 DraftKings points over his last two games.

Defenseman and Goalie

Defenseman

Aaron Ekblad – Florida – $5,700 – Paying up at defense usually isn’t a thing. However, the build listed above gives you a bit of extra money to play with. For the $5,700, Ekblad seems to offer some value. This is the sort of spot where he can go off.

Goalie

Ilya Sorokin – New York Islanders – $8,300 – Call me a homer, whatever you want. Very few goalies are iller than Ilya right now with his stunning 2.31 GAA. The Islanders are -215 home money line favorites as new import Bo Horvat faces his former squad. As mentioned above, our build makes it so we don’t have to pinch any pennies tonight. Vancouver comes in on a back-to-back and should be tough going for them here tonight.

2/9 NHL Best Bet

Seattle (+140) – DraftKings/Bet MGM – 1 Unit – The Sharp NHL Model has this at actual odds of +118 for an amount of 10.55% positive EV on the Kraken.
