We have a short but sweet four-game NHL DFS slate on tap. Aside from reading the 2/26 NHL DFS article, don’t forget to check out our NHL DFS Projection Model which is available every morning. If you like what you see, sign up for more Win Daily content here.

2/26 NHL Main Slate of Games – Beginning 5 p.m. ET

*All odds and player pricing below have been obtained from DraftKings and are accurate as of the time of writing*

Los Angeles Kings (+120) at New York Rangers (-140)6 Projected Goal Total

Tampa Bay Lightning (-125) at Pittsburgh Penguins (+105)6.5 Projected Goal Total

Nashville Predators (-170) at Arizona Coyotes (+145)6.5 Projected Goal Total

Toronto Maple Leafs (-140) at Seattle Kraken (+120)6.5 Projected Goal Total

Pittsburgh One – “Sidney Crosby ($6,900), Jake Guentzel ($7,200), Rickard Rakell ($6,100)

The Penguins are home dogs in this one versus the Lightning. However, they are slight dogs, and as the 6.5 total indicates there should be goals. Pittsburgh’s top line leads all NHL lines in SATF over their last ten games. However, they only have six goals to show for their efforts. This is a good spot for some positive regression on a small slate.

10-Day Sample Size – SATF “accounts for all shots including blocked and missed shots”

2/26 NHL Favorite Contrarian Line

Arizona One – “Nick Schmaltz ($5,800), Clayton Keller ($6,600), Barrett Hayton ($4,300)”

I don’t mind finishing off lines with a little Coyote action. Coming in 4th in the NHL in SATF over the last ten games, they are in strong form. The Yotes are decent dogs here, despite being at home, coming in at +145 on the money line. All three skaters feature on Arizona’s top power-play unit. Juuse Saros has been wildly up and down all season so not the worst goalie to target.

Defenseman and Goalie

Defenseman

Jusso Valimaki – Arizona – $3,800 – Cheap, quarterbacks a power-play unit now, and provides correlation with the Coyote’s top line.

Goalie

Connor Ingram – Arizona – $7,100 – A remarkable twelve-game streak of double-digit DraftKings points. In this spot with Arizona a decent home dog, I’d expect him to face his share of volume. He should be able to get that streak up to thirteen straight games.

2/26 NHL Best Bet

Arizona (+145) – DraftKings – 1 Unit – Considering all of the picks above, we might as well go all in on the Yotes!

Let’s gear up for a ten-game Thursday slate full of some huge contests! Aside from reading the 2/23 NHL DFS article, don’t forget to check out our NHL DFS Projection Model which is available every morning. If you like what you see, sign up for more Win Daily content here.

2/23 NHL Main Slate of Games – Beginning 7 p.m. ET

*All odds and player pricing below have been obtained from DraftKings and are accurate as of the time of writing*

Minnesota Wild (-180) at Columbus Blue Jackets (+155)6 Projected Goal Total

Los Angeles Kings (+120) at New Jersey Devils (-140)6.5 Projected Goal Total

New York Rangers (-165) at Detroit Red Wings (+140)6 Projected Goal Total

Edmonton Oilers (-110) at Pittsburgh Penguins (-110)7 Projected Goal Total

Buffalo Sabres (+190) at Tampa Bay Lightning (-225)7 Projected Goal Total

Anaheim Ducks (+215) at Washington Capitals (-255)6 Projected Goal Total

Vancouver Canucks (+100) at St. Louis Blues (-120)7 Projected Goal Total

Calgary Flames (+130) at Vegas Golden Knights (-150)6 Projected Goal Total

Boston Bruins (-175) at Seattle Kraken (+150)6 Projected Goal Total

Nashville Predators (-140) at San Jose Sharks (+120)6 Projected Goal Total

Tampa Bay One – “Brayden Point ($6,700), Nikita Kucherov ($5,900), Brandon Hagel ($5,500)” (This can be run as a two-man stack with Point and Hagel).

The most popular line of the night “and line in the best spot” is one of the more tried and true top lines. Hosting the Canucks as -225 favorites in a seven total game, the Lightning are in a great spot tonight. All three skaters on their top line also feature on Tampa Bay’s top power-play unit. For the season, they are fifth in all NHL lines in terms of SATF. They are also relatively affordable, particularly if you run this as a two-man without Nikita Kucherov. It is hard to justify his price tag most nights given his lack of goal-scoring this season. With 21 goals and 59 assists for Kucherov this season, it is clear he is becoming more of a setup man as he ages.

Season Long Sample Size – SATF “accounts for all shots including blocked and missed shots”

2/23 NHL Favorite Contrarian Line

Minnesota One – “Ryan Hartman ($4,200), Kirill Kaprizov ($7,400), Mats Zuccarello ($6,300)”

Aside from Kaprizov, this line gets overlooked at times. However tonight, despite six total, they are facing a Columbus team that allows their fair share of goals. The Wild enter tonight -180 money line favorites and the top line has shown some very strong recent form. Their 127 SATF over the last ten games is good for fourth among all lines in the NHL across that span. They only have six goals to show for that effort but positive regression should come out in their favor. Just as the case is with the Lightning’s top line, this line’s pricing is very fair all things considered. However, in this case, I’d run out all three skaters and not condense to a two-man stack.

10-Day Sample Size – SATF “accounts for all shots including blocked and missed shots”

Defenseman and Goalie

Defenseman

Erik Gustafsson – Washington – $4,800 – If for no other reason, only because I’m the Gustafsson whisperer. Washington is a whopping -255 money-line favorite tonight. He allows us to get some cheap exposure to a potential power play assist or two with Ovechkin back now.

Goalie

Jusse Saros – Nashville – $7,200 – Ol’ Jusse Saros just ain’t what he used to be. He’s had a shaky last few games, to say the least. However, the season-long numbers (2.89 GAA and .915 SV % are still relatively strong) and the price is right. It’s a great spot for a bounce-back game tonight with the Predators -140 favorites in a six-total matchup.

2/23 NHL Best Bet

Calgary (+130) – DraftKings – 1 Unit – 37.06% EV in the Sharp Model with a projected model money line of -167 “although that may be a bit too much and subject to adjustment, it tells us all we need to know”.

Aside from reading the 2/19 NHL DFS article, don’t forget to check out our NHL DFS Projection Model which is available every morning. If you like what you see, sign up for more Win Daily content here.

2/19 NHL Main Slate of Games – Beginning 6 p.m. ET

*All odds and player pricing below have been obtained from DraftKings and are accurate as of the time of writing*

Toronto Maple Leafs (-295) at Chicago Blackhawks (+245)6.5 Projected Goal Total

Winnipeg Jets (+110) at New Jersey Devils (-130)6 Projected Goal Total

Columbus Blue Jackets (+115) at Arizona Coyotes (-135)6.5 Projected Goal Total

Arizona One – “Barrett Hayton ($4,100), Clayton Keller ($5,900), Nick Schmaltz ($5,500)

It’s time to do your best attempt at a howl. They are not a usual sight anywhere on the Hot Shot. However, tonight it s time to fire up the Coyote’s top line! Arizona are -135 money line home favorites tonight “yes, favorites you heard right”. Unbelievably, the top line is tied for first among all NHL lines in SATF over the last ten games. The Blue Jackets are in the top five in the NHL for most goals allowed in the NHL. Toronto might be more popular due to reputation and that game taking place earlier. However, we’re sticking with Arizona!

10-Day Sample Size – SATF “accounts for all shots including blocked and missed shots”

2/19 NHL Favorite Contrarian Line

New Jersey Two – “Nico Hischier ($6,400), Jesper Bratt ($6,100), Ondrej Palat ($4,800)”

New Jersey Two will not be anyone’s top choice to begin their lineup with. This may be the game that Conor Hellebuyck returns in net for the Jets. There is only a six total for this game. However, the Devil’s second line has a lot going for them. Salary wise they can be jammed in alongside Arizona One listed up top with plenty of salary left over. As you can see from the graphic above, they have certainly not been slouches. They have been seventh in the NHL in SATF over the last ten games.

Defenseman and Goalie

Defenseman

Juuso Valimaki – Arizona – $3,500 – With Jakob Chychrun on the trade block and sitting up, Valimaki has received a big bump in terms of role. However, his price has not climbed accordingly. For the price of a budget defenseman pop that man in your lineup!

Goalie

Connor Ingram – Arizona Coyotes – $7,800 – With Karel Vejmelka in the net on Saturday, it will be Connor Ingram in net for Arizona on Sunday night. Ingram has had double-digit DraftKings points in ten straight games. Columbus should pepper him with enough shots that he can have a decent save total as well as grab the win here.

2/19 NHL Best Bet

New Jersey/Winnipeg – O6 – DraftKings – 1 Unit – 6.01% EV in the Sharp Model with a projected model total of 6.52.

Aside from reading the 2/16 NHL DFS article, don’t forget to check out our NHL DFS Projection Model which is available every morning. If you like what you see, sign up for more Win Daily content here.

2/16 NHL Main Slate of Games – Beginning 7 p.m. ET

*All odds and player pricing below have been obtained from DraftKings and are accurate as of the time of writing*

Montreal Canadiens (+330) at Carolina Hurricanes (-410)6 Projected Goal Total

Winnipeg Jets (-190) at Columbus Blue Jackets (+160)6 Projected Goal Total

Florida Panthers (-120) at Washington Capitals (+100)6.5 Projected Goal Total

Boston Bruins (-180) at Nashville Predators (+155)5.5 Projected Goal Total

Detroit Red Wings (+200) at Calgary Flames (-240)6.5 Projected Goal Total

New Jersey Devils (-150) at St. Louis Blues (+130)6.5 Projected Goal Total

Philadelphia Flyers (+180) at Seattle Kraken (-210)6 Projected Goal Total

San Jose Sharks (+180) at Vegas Golden Knights (-210)6.5 Projected Goal Total

Carolina One – “Sebastian Aho ($6,900), Tera Teravinen ($4,700), Seth Jarvis ($4,300)

There is only a six total for this game. However, with the Hurricanes as -410 money line favorites, it’s safe to assume which side should bag most of those six. Carolina’s top line is currently tenth among NHL lines in SATF over the last ten games. If you want you can leave off Seth Jarvis “probably recommended” and just run this as a two-man stack.

10-Day Sample Size – SATF “accounts for all shots including blocked and missed shots”

2/16 NHL Favorite Contrarian Line

Seattle Three – “Yanni Gourde ($3,600), Eeli Tolvanen ($4,400), Oliver Bjorkstrand ($4,500)”

In terms of our salary-saver contrarian line, let’s turn to Seattle Three! They rank third in the NHL in SATF over the last ten games with 122. The Kraken are -215 money line favorites hosting the Flyers. The matchup should be solid with the Flyers’ depth lines. Overall, it makes a lot of sense.

Honorable Mention: Calgary Three – “Mikael Backlund ($5,200), Andrew Mangiapane ($4,000), Blake Coleman ($4,500)”

Defenseman and Goalie

Defenseman

Erik Gustafsson – Washington – $4,700 – Gustafsson has not done much with his elevated role to date. However, in what should be a higher-scoring matchup perhaps we can catch a big game before it happens.

Goalie

Conor Hellebuyck – Winnipeg Jets – $8,500 – Because if you have the money why not? The Jets are -190 favorites in a game there should be a fair amount of shots on goal. Hellebuyck continues to stun with his 2.41 GAA and .924 save percentage.

2/16 NHL Best Bet

Seattle/Philadelphia – U6 – DraftKings – 1 Unit – 6.01% EV in the Sharp Model with a projected model total of 5.48.

It may be Super Bowl Sunday but well before that, we have a four-game Sunday NHL DFS slate! Aside from reading the 2/12 NHL DFS article, don’t forget to check out our NHL DFS Projection Model which is available every morning. If you like what you see, sign up for more Win Daily content here.

2/12 NHL Main Slate of Games – Beginning 12:30 p.m. ET

*All odds and player pricing below have been obtained from DraftKings and are accurate as of the time of writing*

Edmonton Oilers (-250) at Montreal Canadiens (+210)6.5 Projected Goal Total

San Jose Sharks (+175) at Washington Capitals (-205)6.5 Projected Goal Total

Seattle Kraken (-150) at Philadelphia Flyers (+130)6.5 Projected Goal Total

Anaheim Ducks (+280) at Vegas Golden Knights (-340)6.5 Projected Goal Total

San Jose One – “Tomas Hertl ($5,900), Tino Meier ($8,100), Noah Gregor ($3,900)

The Sharks are +175 underdogs here on the road in Washington. As a result, more people will lean towards Edmonton for a spend-up. However, given this line’s general performance this season they should be popular enough on a four-game slate. Despite losing Kevin Labanc off this line, the main two skaters remain. For the season, they are fifth in the NHL in SATF with 402. The total is set here at 6.5 so it’s not like goals aren’t expected. San Jose has been up and down as of late, but they are still scoring goals so that’s not part of their problem. Darcy Kuemper played yesterday so we don’t have to worry about him in the opposing net. The Sharks will be facing off with Charlie Lindgren who before picking a win Tuesday night had been 0-2-0 with a very rough .845 save percentage over his prior four appearances.

Season Long Sample Size – SATF “accounts for all shots including blocked and missed shots”

2/12 NHL Favorite Contrarian Line

Seattle Three – “Eeli Tolvanen ($4,700), Yanni Gourde ($3,800), Oliver Bjorkstrand ($4,600)”

In terms of more recent production, this line has been solid. Over the last ten games, they are fifth in the NHL along all lines in terms of SATF. Seattle is a -150 money-line favorite here, facing the Flyers who come in on the second night of a back-to-back. If that wasn’t enough to sell you on the Kraken’s third line, well, they are also cheap. I don’t mind just running a two-man here “Tolvanen has access to the top power-play unit so he’s likely in any two-man stack but the rest is flexible”. With Carter Hart having started in net for the Flyers on Saturday, Seattle will draw the atrocious Felix Sandstrom “3.45 GAA/.886 save %”.

10-Day Long Sample Size – SATF “accounts for all shots including blocked and missed shots”

Defenseman and Goalie

Defenseman

Dmitry Kulikov – Anaheim – $3,300 – Super cheap and double-digit DraftKings points in four of his last six games “and 9.7 in another just barely missing 5/6”.

Goalie

Adin Hill – Vegas – $8,300 – This is an awful slate for goalies. As mentioned earlier, I think Darcy Kuemper is going to be popular. However, if you roster San Jose he doesn’t make any sense. Therefore, instead, let’s look at Vegas and Adin Hill. The Golden Knights are massive -340 favorites against a Ducks team who does little well. Hill’s 2.58 GAA for the season is very strong.

2/12 NHL Best Bet

Montreal +1.5 (-125) – DraftKings – 1 Unit – As far as the raw money lines go, the Sharp model has Montreal at +161 as opposed to their Vegas odds of +215. This is a difference of a whopping 20.31% EV. That said, I’d rather target the spread than the outright money line.

Unlike the usual over-the-top Thursday slate, tonight we have a nice medium-sized eight-game slate in front of us. With only a couple of big favorites, there should be a decent amount of parity. Aside from reading the 2/9 NHL DFS article, don’t forget to check out our NHL DFS Projection Model which is available every morning. If you like what you see, sign up for more Win Daily content here.

2/9 NHL Main Slate of Games – Beginning 7 p.m. ET

*All odds and player pricing below have been obtained from DraftKings and are accurate as of the time of writing*

Calgary Flames (-150) at Detroit Red Wings (+130)6 Projected Goal Total

San Jose Sharks (+180) at Florida Panthers (-210)7 Projected Goal Total

Pittsburgh Penguins (-105) at Washington Capitals (-115)6.5 Projected Goal Total

Seattle Kraken (+140) at New Jersey Devils (-165)6.5 Projected Goal Total

Edmonton Oilers (-180) at Philadelphia Flyers (+155)6.5 Projected Goal Total

Colorado Avalanche (+105) at Tampa Bay Lightning (-125)6 Projected Goal Total

Vancouver Canucks (+185) at New York Islanders (-215)6.5 Projected Goal Total

Vegas Golden Knights (+105) at Minnesota Wild (-125)6 Projected Goal Total

Florida Two – “Sam Bennett ($5,000), Matthew Tkachuk ($8,000), Carter Verhaeghe ($6,500)

The Panthers are featured in a rare seven total game tonight. Furthermore, they’re neck and neck with the Islanders for the title of the slate’s biggest favorite (-210) vs (-215). This line has been the better of the two as of late, particularly in terms of peripheral stats. Florida’s second line has 124 SATF over the last ten games good for a tie for second-best among all NHL lines. Carter Verhaeghe has been individually been a monster lately with double-digit DraftKings points in eight of his last nine games. This includes a whopping four-point night “40.5 DraftKings points” against the Lightning on Monday.

10-Day Sample Size – SATF “accounts for all shots including blocked and missed shots”

2/9 NHL Favorite Contrarian Line

Calgary Three – “Mikael Backlund ($4,700), Andrew Mangiapane ($3,800), Blake Coleman ($3,700)”

I previously whiffed on them but given their amazing stats of late and cheap price, don’t mind going back to the well. The Flames are -155 road favorites here and so despite the six total, it is a good spot attacking Detroit depth lines. Blake Coleman individually will/should be popular given his amazing return on investment with a $3,700 price tag. Coleman has put up 24 and 33 DraftKings points over his last two games.

Defenseman and Goalie

Defenseman

Aaron Ekblad – Florida – $5,700 – Paying up at defense usually isn’t a thing. However, the build listed above gives you a bit of extra money to play with. For the $5,700, Ekblad seems to offer some value. This is the sort of spot where he can go off.

Goalie

Ilya Sorokin – New York Islanders – $8,300 – Call me a homer, whatever you want. Very few goalies are iller than Ilya right now with his stunning 2.31 GAA. The Islanders are -215 home money line favorites as new import Bo Horvat faces his former squad. As mentioned above, our build makes it so we don’t have to pinch any pennies tonight. Vancouver comes in on a back-to-back and should be tough going for them here tonight.

2/9 NHL Best Bet

Seattle (+140) – DraftKings/Bet MGM – 1 Unit – The Sharp NHL Model has this at actual odds of +118 for an amount of 10.55% positive EV on the Kraken.

2/9 NHL Main Slate of Games – Beginning 7 p.m. ET

*All odds and player pricing below have been obtained from DraftKings and are accurate as of the time of writing*

Detroit Red Wings (-155) at Montreal Canadiens (+135)6 Projected Goal Total

Boston Bruins (-110) at Tampa Bay Lightning (-110)6 Projected Goal Total

Pittsburgh Penguins (-105) at Washington Capitals (-115)6.5 Projected Goal Total

Philadelphia Flyers (+190) at Minnesota Wild (-225)6 Projected Goal Total

New Jersey Devils (-195) at Nashville Predators (+165)6 Projected Goal Total

Buffalo Sabres (+160) at Winnipeg Jets (-190)6.5 Projected Goal Total

St. Louis Blues (-155) at Arizona Coyotes (+135)6.5 Projected Goal Total

Chicago Blackhawks (+320) at Calgary Flames (-390)6 Projected Goal Total

Anaheim Ducks (+320) at Colorado Avalanche (-390)6.5 Projected Goal Total

Colorado One – “Nathan MacKinnon ($9,500), Artturi Lehkonen ($5,900), Evan Rodrigues ($5,400)

You don’t see -390 money lines in the NHL too often, so that sort of speaks for itself. The revised top line at the moment has been sixth in the NHL in SATF over the last ten games. The Avs have been red hot and come in tonight winners of six straight. Colorado couldn’t ask for a better matchup than to face the hapless Ducks in a 6.5 total game. One huge plus with Mikko Rantanen on the second line nowadays is that we can actually afford to use the Avalanche’s top line here. Particularly with Mac’s hefty price tag considered.

2/9 NHL Favorite Contrarian Line

Calgary Three – “Mikael Backlund ($4,800), Andrew Mangiapane ($4,000), Blake Coleman ($3,900)”

When you’re swallowing any $9,500 price tags you might need some salary savings. However, tonight for our contrarian line we get the best of all possible worlds. SATF is my favorite peripheral stat as it encompasses all shot attempts, including missed shots, and blocked shots. It just so happens we have a line in Calgary’s third line that leads all NHL lines in SATF “and is tied for first in goals” over the last ten games. They are also cheap salary-wise being a third line. Oh, and Calgary happens to be a -390 money-line favorite as well, hosting the Blackhawks.

Defenseman and Goalie

Defenseman

Devon Toews – Colorado Avalanche – $5,000 – He’s not Cale Makar but he’s still pretty good and filling the Makar spot on regular ice and the power play. At $5,000 lock it in as his very best might come out tonight in this smash spot.

Goalie

Alexander Georgiev – Colorado Avalanche – $8,500 – Oh man this is a lot of Colorado but so be it. Chalk choice, but “Georgie” should be set up for one of his easier wins and an all-around solid stat line. The former Ranger has won his last three starts putting up 27.9, 22.1, and 26.3 DraftKings points in the process. His 2.62 GAA/.918 SV% for the season is very respectable.

2/9 NHL Best Bet

Chicago +2.5 (-140) – Bet MGM – 1 Unit – I like Calgary for DFS sure and they likely win. However, -390 money line odds on the Flames seem heavy here. Especially considering these teams have been playing like near equals over the last ten games. Furthermore, Chicago beat them 4-3 just two weeks ago. Give me the +2.5 goal head start.

We have a fairly straightforward four-game Sunday NHL DFS slate to look forward to. I’m going to pump the brakes on the reliance on peripheral stats and put out some more takes from a thirty-thousand-foot view for this slate. Aside from reading the 1/22 NHL DFS article, don’t forget to check out our NHL DFS Projection Model which is available every morning. If you like what you see, sign up for more Win Daily content here.

1/22 NHL Main Slate of Games – Beginning 7 p.m. ET

*All odds and player pricing below have been obtained from DraftKings and are accurate as of the time of writing*

San Jose Sharks (+260) at Boston Bruins (-315)6.5 Projected Goal Total

Los Angeles Kings (-230) at Chicago Blackhawks (+195)6.5 Projected Goal Total

Winnipeg Jets (-165) at Philadelphia Flyers (+140)6.5 Projected Goal Total

Vegas Golden Knights (-195) at Arizona Coyotes (+165)6 Projected Goal Total

Winnipeg Two – “Mark Schiefele ($5,800), Nikolaj Ehlers ($7,300), Blake Wheeler ($5,000)

The Jets’ second line should see ownership with the price as the primary factor. This line put up four combined goals last night so there may be some recency bias. They are very affordable, yet offer both similarity and upside in a game where Winnipeg are -165 road favorites. Mark Schiefele is my favorite play of the three, averaging a point per game with 28 goals for under $6,000. Nikolaj Ehlers is a bit expensive at $7,300 but has been hot since his return from an early-season injury. Both of the aforementioned skaters see time on the Jets’ top power play. There is little sample size available here as Ehlers had been skating with the top line previously. On the second line, it is easier to fit him in with two affordable skaters alongside him. With Samuel Ersson sent to the minors, the Jets should have a tasty matchup with Flyers goalie Felix Sandstrom who has horrible numbers!

1/22 NHL Favorite Contrarian Line

Los Angeles One – “Anze Kopitar ($5,400), Adrian Kempe ($5,100), Quinton Byfield ($3,200)”

People just don’t like the Kings. However, they are -230 favorites here in a 6.5 total game and more affordable than the Bruins. For me, the second line is a pass so you’re looking at the first and third lines. There is nothing great in terms of peripheral stats amongst any of the lines right now both of the aforementioned lines have been respectable as of late. This is clearly a plus matchup and we’re not breaking the bank either.

Defenseman and Goalie

Defenseman

Drew Doughty – Los Angeles Kings – $4,800 – Double-digits DraftKing points in four of his last five games so feeling it. Plus gives us a correlation with Los Angeles One listed both on the top line and top power-play unit. This is for under $5,000.

Goalie

Linus Ullmark – Boston Bruins – $8,500 – This is a nasty slate for goalies with many starters such as Conor Hellebuyck, Carter Hart, Logan Thompson and other regular starters having played yesterday. Ullmark stands out by a lot and in cash games is an easy choice. His 1.88 GAA and .937 save percentage are Vezina-worthy. I don’t even know who’s the #2 goalie on this slate, maybe Adin Hill?

1/22 NHL Best Bet

Winnipeg/Philadelphia – O6 (-120) – Bet MGM – 1 Unit – With the starting goalies resting, bad backups, and two hot teams, I like the over here and every other site has already moved the line to 6.5 so grab the six total if you can.

Jammed in between two big Tuesday and Thursday slates we have a nice five-game NHL DFS slate to look forward to. As far as the projected totals for tonight, they come in all ends of the spectrum. However, on a smaller slate like this, we can take a couple more stands.

Aside from reading the article, don’t forget to check out our NHL DFS Projection Model which is available every morning. Sign up for more Win Daily content here.

1/18 NHL Main Slate of Games – Beginning 7 p.m. ET

*All odds and player pricing below have been obtained from DraftKings and are accurate as of the time of writing*

Pittsburgh Penguins (-130) at Ottawa Senators (+110)6.5 Projected Goal Total

Boston Bruins (-165) at New York Islanders (+140)5.5 Projected Goal Total

Colorado Avalanche (+115) at Calgary Flames (-135)6 Projected Goal Total

Dallas Stars (-165) at San Jose Sharks (+140)6 Projected Goal Total

Tampa Bay Lightning (-180) at Vancouver Canucks (+155)6.5 Projected Goal Total

Tampa Bay One – “Brayden Point ($6,400), Brandon Hagel ($5,600), Nikita Kucherov ($7,800)

Dallas One will get some love here too but the Lightning will be facing the defensively deficient Canucks in a 6.5 total matchup. Tampa’s top line has been solid over their last ten games. They have put up 103 SATF and seven full goals as a line during that timeframe, good for sixth in SATF and tying for first in the NHL in goals across that span. If you want to leave off Kucherov and run it as a two-man, I don’t mind that. Kuch just simply hasn’t been scoring as many goals this season so hard to justify his price tag unless you can afford it.

1/18 NHL Favorite Contrarian Line

Calgary Three – “Mikael Backlund ($4,800), Andrew Mangiapane ($3,800), Blake Coleman ($3,400)”

The Flames will be at home and the whole team, particularly this line, has had some fire “no pun intended” peripheral stats lately. Calgary’s depth is notable, but as you can see from the table above, it has been the second and third lines that stand out. As a result, I don’t mind the Flames’ second line and if running multiple lines I’d feature my second lineup around them. That said, the third line has been #1 “you heard correctly” in the NHL in SATF over their last ten games. Alexander Georgiev in the opposing net has been fairly up and down as of late. I expect him to get peppered with shots all around here as the Flames really start to break out after their underwhelming start to the season.

Defenseman and Goalie

Defenseman

Ty Smith – Pittsburgh Penguins – $4,300 – Filling in for Kris Letang on the first line and top power-play unit for only $4,300, a no-brainer play in all formats.

Goalie

Linus Ullmark – Boston Bruins – $8,200 – On paper it makes sense with Boston the -165 favorite in a rare 5.5 total game. Ullmark’s 1.82 GAA and .938 save percentage are stellar. All things considered here, he should be $8,500. If you really need the salary or are building multiple lines I’d roster the Islanders goalie “could be either or entering a back-to-back”.

The Sunday 1/15 NHL DFS slate is among the tinier NHL slates we’ve seen recently. However, we have you covered for some MLK Weekend hockey, despite the slate’s brevity.

Aside from reading the article, don’t forget to check out our NHL DFS Projection Model which is available every morning.

1/15 NHL Main Slate of Games – Beginning 5 p.m. ET

*All odds and player pricing below have been obtained from DraftKings and are accurate as of the time of writing*

Vancouver Canucks (+210) at Carolina Hurricanes (-250)6.5 Projected Goal Total

Montreal Canadiens (+235) at New York Rangers (-280)6 Projected Goal Total

Arizona Coyotes (+275) at Winnipeg Jets (-330)6 Projected Goal Total

Carolina Two – “Paul Stastny ($3,100), Alexander Svechnikov ($6,300), Martin Necas ($6,800)

Carolina Two has been putting up monster peripheral numbers lately, second-best in the NHL over the last ten games. They get an ideal matchup hosting the Vancouver Canucks at 3 p.m. lock. I don’t necessarily if they’ll be that popular either. The Hurricanes’ top lines as well as the Rangers’ lines should grab plenty of ownership. The Hurricanes/Canucks game is the only 6.5 total game on the slate however and the Canes are big favorites.

10-Day Sample SizeGF “Goals Followed”

1/15 NHL Favorite Contrarian Line

Carolina Three – “Jordan Staal ($3,500), Jordin Martinook ($2,900), Jesper Fast ($2,500)”

As noted in Thursday’s article and the table above, they are peripheral monsters. Especially on a three-game slate, I think it’s fair to try to take another stab at them. Currently, they are fifth in the NHL in SATF over their last ten games. Furthermore, as mentioned above under Carolina Two, the Canucks are a plus matchup. One quick note, I don’t think you use both Carolina lines together so it’s a matter of choosing one or the other.

Montreal One doesn’t make for a bad side option as they have clearly been underperforming their peripheral stats. It’s a tough matchup with the Rangers but hence why their contrarian and could find some positive regression.

Defenseman and Goalie

Defenseman

K’Andre Miller – New York Rangers – $3,800 -On a roll and simply underpriced. Miller has 11.3, 18, and 23.9 DraftKings points in his last three games. Very chalky but at this price, that makes sense.

Goalie

Conor Hellebuyck – Winnipeg Jets – $8,500 – The man, the myth, the legend, reassumes his role as the Hot Shot starting goalie. I mean the Jets are -330 favorites hosting the Coyotes in a six-total game. Our boy is coming into this one off the back of a 41-save win Thursday night.

1/15 NHL Best Bet

Vancouver/Carolina – O 6.5 (-115) – DraftKings – 1 Unit – The Sharp model has this total pegged at 7.47% for 12.40% EV.
