The NFL DFS season continues with this week’s Monday night showdown, and we’re helping you win big money in one of the final Week 12 NFL DFS contests!

Introduction to Single-Game Showdowns

DraftKings calls them “Showdowns,” and FanDuel doesn’t really have a name for them other than “Single-Game Contests,” but whatever we call them they require an understanding of game narratives and game theory – which means we need to target low-ownership players that will give us the best opportunities within the narratives and game outcomes we’re expecting.

My picks will focus almost exclusively on finding GPP-winning combinations that have a chance at taking down the contests you’re entering, be they single-entry or MME. While we can’t cover all the possible combos or provide full lineups for you to deploy, the goal here is to give you the tools to win and highlight some names that will help make for profitable results.

If I enter five lineups in a large-field GPP, at least three of those lineups will focus on the most likely game outcome (based on Vegas odds, props and totals), with one or two contrarian builds. As we know, late-breaking news can have a significant effect on full slates, and that’s just amplified with single-game contests. If you have any questions leading up to lock, please consult our NFL DFS experts in Discord.

Let’s get to the game!

Week 12 NFL DFS MVP candidates (1.5x points)

Some notes on the differences between MVP on FanDuel and DraftKings: The 1.5x point boost on FD comes with no salary penalty, while and DK also bumps the salary to 1.5x – a crucial factor in deciding who we can and cannot afford on both sites. We can use this to our advantage on FD by occasionally targeting non-QBs to establish more variance and more unique lineups, and on DK it allows us to build more hearty overall stacks when we punt the MVP position with a cheap but high-upside player.

Chalk: Russell Wilson (DK $18,900, FD $16,500)

Pivot: DK Metcalf (DK $17,100, FD $14,000)

Contrarian #1: Carson Wentz (DK $15,600, FD $14,500)

Contrarian #2: Miles Sanders (DK $13,800, FD $13,500)

DK Punts: Seahawks DST ($5,700) or Jalen Reagor ($8,700)

DK Contrarian Punt: Alshon Jeffrey ($2,400)

We’ve got to love Russell Wilson in this game, and he’ll likely be the chalk. The Seahawks should be able to roll out their usual offensively balanced approach in this game, as they’re back to full capacity with their stable of RBs – grinder Chris Carson is back in action and leads the way – and no major injuries to report among their top two WRs. They will be missing TE Greg Olsen, but I expect to see Wilson picking his spots with efficiency against the Eagles secondary.

As with the rest of the league, the Eagles don’t have anyone who can contain the relatively matchup-proof DK Metcalf, and with the athletic receiver seeing just nine targets over the past two weeks, I expect him to have a big game and around 7-10 targets. Since the Eagles do have a strong run defense, they’ll likely run some play action with Carson to get the ball in the hands of Metcalf, Tyler Lockett and TE Will Dissly, who might notch a couple extra looks in this one.

I’m plenty interested in using the Seahawks DST at captain if it gets me Wilson, one of the big two Seahawks WRs and Carson, and there’s already a viable roster construction for large-field GPPs that I’m envisioning which utilizes a Carson Wentz meltdown/replacement with Jalen Hurts. The Seahawks could force him right out of the game with constant pressure, as the Eagles have yielded a league-high 40 sacks this season through 10 games.

If Wentz is successful in avoiding pressure, it’ll be because their defense will help keep the game close and they give plenty of opportunities to Miles Sanders. The Seahawks defense is about league average against the run, but they looked like a much-improved unit in their game against the Cards. WRs Jalen Reagor and Travis Fulgham probably have the most upside in this matchup, but I’m sprinkling in plenty of Dallas Goedert and will have a few shares of embattled and oft-injured wideout Alshon Jeffrey, who could see more snaps in this matchup.

Week 12 NFL DFS Utility options (and some DOs and DON’Ts)

Remember to build your team based on a narrative that makes sense, and utilize the WinDaily fantasy toolbox for cheatsheets and projections that can help you tremendously with lineup building.

DO: Build a trio (or quartet) of offensive weapons for a team that makes sense together

DON’T: Use more Eagles than Seahawks. Unless something goes terribly wrong and the Eagles defense flips the script, we’re looking at a max of two or three lineups per ten where you could go 3/3 (maybe two) or 4-2 (1/10 at most) in favor of Philly.

DO: Get a little creative with the Eagles offensive performers you use. There’s been talk of replacing Wentz if he struggles, and this is exactly the type of game and DSFS format you could see him put together a second half worthy of inclusion.

DON’T: Fiddle around too much with the non-Chris Carson Seahawks backs, aside from possibly Carlos Hyde. The price on Hyde is steep because of last week’s performance, but we have every indication Carson will lead the backfield in touches this week.  A few shares are okay, but don’t go overboard.

Now that we’ve established some narratives and MVP candidates, the best way to round out this piece is with a list of my favorite options in descending order, based on overall value (a combo of salary and projected points):

  1. Russell Wilson
  2. DK Metcalf
  3. Chris Carson
  4. Tyler Lockett
  5. Carson Wentz
  6. Miles Sanders
  7. Jalen Reagor
  8. Travis Fulgham
  9. Dallas Goedert
  10. Seahawks DST
  11. Will Dissly
  12. Greg Ward
  13. Jason Myers
  14. Boston Scott
  15. Carlos Hyde
  16. Freddie Swain (questionable)
  17. Alshon Jeffrey
  18. Jake Elliott
  19. Jalen Hurts
  20. Jacob Hollister
  21. Eagles DST
  22. Richard Rodgers

Tonight we are back for League Of Legends (LOL). We are in full force with the World Championship! The World Championship is a combination of the best LOL teams in the World playing for that shot at being crowned the best in the World. Now down to FOUR teams and the Semi-Finals, in a very competitive Esports competition.

We have two very intriguing semi-final matchups tomorrow and Sunday for some entertaining LOL DFS. Tomorrow we begin the semi-finals of the World Championship with Damwon Gaming (DWG) (-260) facing off against G2 Esports (G2) (+180), and on Sunday, Suning (SN) (+145) is facing off against Top Esports (TES) (-200). Both will be entertaining, to say the least, in their best of five series matchups. The winner of both matchups will be battling it out for the crown and title of the world’s best league of legend team!

TOP PLAY: (Sunday 6 AM EST)

TOP ESPORTS (TES) (-200) (PROJECTED KILLS PER GAME 15.5) VS. SUNING GAMING (SN) (+145) (PROJECTED KILLS PER GAME 12.5).

My top play of this LOL DFS slate s going to come from the battle that is taking place on Sunday, October 25th. The match between Suning (+145) and TES (-200) is going to be memorable, to say the least. Suning has shown that they can run with the big boys and have fought tooth and nail all the way into the semi-finals of the world championship tournament. They recently defeat JDG in an impressive 3 to 1 victory. Suning has the power and strategic planning to come out on top here, but I feel that TES will stop them in their tracks.

TES is a very determined team, and have been at the top of the standings for almost two years now. They tend to exploit every weakness their opponent shows them and can turn any game around in their favor. I believe that JackeyLove (ADC) and Knight (MID) will be the the decision-makers in this game and will send SN home packing, coming just short of their world title shot.

MY ESPORTS DFS TOP PLAY:

TOP ESPORTS (TES) (-200) (PROJECTED KILLS PER GAME 15.5).

SECONDARY PLAY: (Saturday 6 AM EST)

G2 ESPORTS (G2) (+180) (PROJECTED KILLS PER GAME 12.5) VS. DAMWON GAMING (DWG) (-260) (PROJECTED KILLS PER GAME 16.5).

My secondary play could very-well outscore my top play if the stars align for them. G2 Esports (+180) will be in a dogfight with none other than Damwon Gaming (-260). DWG has been a force all year long and will give G2 a very difficult time. If DWG leans on Canyon and ShowMaker as they have previously, they can defeat anyone. The second that they start to second-guess their strategic planning; it will cause their demise.

G2 has been playing every team very aggressively. They have fought back in games, lost games, and won games. They are the world’s wildcard, in my opinion. G2 can either be an extreme BOOM play or an awful BUST play. In this spot versus DWG, I think that G2 will struggle at first, maybe lose the first game, but once they get their movement and strategy down to a science, they will thrive. G2 has to lean on both Caps and Perkz to break through into the finals, and I believe they will succeed. I project that G2 wins this series but needs all five matches to do it.

MY ESPORTS SECONDARY DFS PLAY: G2 ESPORTS (G2) (+180) (PROJECTED KILLS PER GAME 12.5)

DFS FAVORITE CAPTAINS / STARS:

JACKEYLOVE (ADC) (TES)

CAPS (MID) (G2)

KNIGHT (MID) (TES)

PERKZ (ADC) (G2)

KARSA (JNG) (TES)

SHOWMAKER (MID) (DWG)

HAUNFENG (ADC) (SN)

GHOST (ADC) (DWG)

ANGEL (MID) (SN)

CANYON (JNG) (DWG)

ESPORTS DFS SLATE SUMMARY WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP SEMI-FINALS:

I will be building TEN ESPORTS DFS lineups. Most of my stacks will be four/three. I will prioritize using ADC and MID in my captain spot. If I can not use ADC or MID, I will use any of the other positions to build my lineups with the teams I have selected. My positions in order of preference is ADC, MID, JNG, TOP, then SUP.

We have two very intriguing matchups tomorrow and Saturday for some entertaining LOL DFS. Tomorrow Top Esports (TES) is facing off against Fnatic, and on Sunday, Gen. G Esports (GEN) is facing off against G2 Esports (G2). Both will be entertaining, to say the least, in their best of five series matchups.

TOP PLAY:

(10/18/20) G2 ESPORTS (G2) -110

My top target of the day will come from the second match being held on Sunday, 10/18. Gen. G Esports (GEN) -125 will battle it out against G2 Esports (G2) -110. This match will be a very tricky one to pick. If G2 upsets Gen G, They will have a monster score, and that is why they are my top play of this LOL DFS slate. Gen G has the ability to dismantle G2, but I am still going to roll with mostly G2.

When G2 is on point, they can beat any opponent thrown their way. The same goes for Gen G. We will need value on a slate like this, and I believe it will come from the underdog. With Perkz and Caps as my priorities, it will give me the ability to stack anything I want. I will have shares of Gen G (30%) because this match will be very close, but I will have mostly G2 in my LOL DFS lineups stacked with TES.

MY ESPORTS DFS TOP PLAY: (10/18/20) G2 ESPORTS (G2) -110

SECONDARY PLAY:

(10/17/20) TOP ESPORTS (TES) -950

CONTINUED FROM YESTERDAY’S ARTICLE……

The next match being held on Saturday, 10/17, will be Top Esports (TES) vs. Fnatic (FNC). TES is by far the best team in the world, in my opinion. They have dismantled almost every team in their path. TES is a team that makes minimal mistakes and exploits every error on their opponent’s team. They can play at any pace that they want to and be successful while they do it. FNC has an uphill battle coming up and better be ready for the task that they face. If FNC continues to leave the MID lane completely open, they will get destroyed and in a hurry. I do not see FNC putting up much of a fight here, but I see them being able to slow TES’s playstyle down.

Usually, I would be all over four-man stacks of TES, but because FNC can slow them down, they have become my secondary play. I do not think that FNC will win, but I do believe that G2, in the second match of this LOL DFS slate, will outproduce TES, and that is why G2 is my top play of this slate.

MY ESPORTS SECONDARY DFS PICK: TOP ESPORTS (TES)

DFS FAVORITE CAPTAINS / STARS:

PERKS (ADC) (G2)

JACKEYLOVE (ADC) (TES)

CAPS (MID) (G2)

KNIGHT (MID) (TES)

JDG GAMING (JDG) -175

My top target of the day will come from the first match being played on Friday at 6 am est. JDG (-175) takes to the rift against a hit or miss Suning team (+125). JD Gaming is gaining traction with every game that passes and is now in the best of five battles against a team that tends to start slow.

JDG likes to start fast, end fast, and destroy everything in their path. They love exploiting weaknesses in their opponents, and I feel that they will most definitely take full advantage of Suning’s flaws in this series. JDG should have no issue taking out the kill feeding Suning team, and I want to make sure I’m on the winning side of the rift for this one. I will have 70% of JDG in my LOL DFS lineups and 30% Suning (to cover a fluke win).

Tonight we are back for League Of Legends (LOL). We are in full force with the World Championship! The World Championship is a combination of the best LOL teams in the World playing for that shot at being crowned the best in the World in a very competitive Esports competition.

Tonight we have six solid matchups in what will be six best of one series. The difference with this slate is that it is going to be a round-robin format. This means each team will play one another, and all of their results will be built into one final score. I will give you my top two picks for tonight’s battles on the rift that start at 4 am EST. Each pick will be the pick and the pick only, seeing as they will be playing multiple matchups. Without further adieu, let’s get started.

TOP PLAY:

LGD GAMING (LGD)

LGD has finally shown up to the world tournament. They started a little rocky but have shown that they can beat just about anyone if they are on point and their communication skills are intact. They are in a group that takes no prisoners and is filled with elite talent.

LGD’s first match is against Gen. G Esports (GEN), where they are a +140 underdog and have a projected kills of 11.5 for that match. They could take this game if they are clicking on all cylinders. The next battle for LGD is against Fnatic (FNC), and they are lined up as a -125 favorite with projected kills of 14.5. LGD’s third and final match of the round-robin tournament is the match they are predicted to win by a bunch, and that is against Team SoloMid (TSM), and they are a -240 favorite with a 15.5 projected kills for that match.

MY ESPORTS DFS TOP PLAY: LGD GAMING (LGD)

SECONDARY PLAY:

GEN. G ESPORTS

Gen G will be a popular stack and for a good reason, but they are not my top play. I will have a significant share of them, but I will not be going over the top with my shares.

The first matchup that they are set to play is against LGD, and they are a – 190 favorite with projected kills of 14.5. I believe this is the only game that they can possibly lose in this round-robin set, but also have the ability to take it home. This match is a coinflip, in my opinion. Gen G’s second match is going to be a bloodbath against TSM. Gen G is a -375 favorite and has a projected kills of 15.5 for that match. Their third and final match is a highly anticipated battle against Fnatic, where they are a – 195 favorite and have a 14.5 projected kills. I think Gen will go 2-1 with the potential to go 3-0, but only if they can get through LGD.

MY ESPORTS SECONDARY DFS PICK: GEN. G ESPORTS

HONORABLE MENTION:

FNATIC (FNC)

DFS FAVORITE CAPTAINS / STARS:

Kramer (LGD) (ADC)

Ruler (GEN) (ADC)

Xiye (LGD) (MID)

Bdd (GEN) (MID)

Peanut (LGD) (JNG)

LangX (LGD) (TOP)

Clid (GEN) (JNG)

Rascal (GEN) (TOP)

Rekkles (FNC) (ADC)

Nemesis (FNC) (MID)

TOP PLAY:

DAMWON GAMING (DWG)

DWG is coming in their first game at -1400 favorites with projected kills of 17.5 vs. Talon. In their second match, they are a -800 favorite with projected kills of 16.5 against Rogue, and a -180 favorite against JDG with 14.5 projected kills. I believe DWG will dominate this day of the group stage and come out with a three-win and zero loss day. They are my top play overall and will have many lineups with Showmaker and Ghost as my captains.

MY ESPORTS DFS TOP PLAY: DAMWON GAMING (DWG)

SECONDARY PLAY:

JD GAMING (JDG)

JDG should come out of this round-robin day with an overall record of two wins and one loss. They are -475 favorite in their matchup with Rogue, a -800 favorite vs. Talon, and +130 underdog against DWG. Their projected kills for each game in order are16.5, 17.5, and 11.5. They have a possibility to come out 3-0 if they upset DWG. They are my second favorite play of the day, and I will have lineups with Loken and Yagao as my captains.

MY ESPORTS SECONDARY DFS PICK: JD GAMING (JDG)

HONORABLE MENTION:

ROUGE (RGE)

DFS FAVORITE CAPTAINS / STARS:

TOP PLAY:

G2 ESPORTS

I believe G2 will dominate all three of their matchups. They are coming in at -335 favorites against team Liquid at 4 am, -550 favorites against Machi E-Sports at 6 am, and -120 Favorites against Suning Gaming at 9 am. My favorite plays from this game will be Perkz and Caps. G2 should be the only team that runs a three-win and zero loss day.

MY ESPORTS DFS TOP PLAY: G2 ESPORTS

SECONDARY PLAY:

TEAM LIQUID

Team Liquid should run with two out of three wins, in my opinion. They can pull any upset and are coming into the day as the underdog in two of their three games. I think TL could be a solid value play in tonights GPP’s. Coming in as +230 underdogs to G2, +230 underdogs to Suning Gaming, and -185 favorites versus Machi E-Sports. If Team Liquid pulls two out of three wins, they will be in a GPP winning lineup.

MY ESPORTS SECONDARY DFS PICK: TEAM LIQUID

DFS FAVORITE CAPTAINS / STARS:

Tonight we have two solid matchups in what will be two best of fives series. I will give you my top two picks and plays for tonight’s battles on the rift that start at 4 am EST.

TOP PLAY:

(4:00 am) Flyquest (FLY) (Projected Kills per game 7.5) (+390) vs. Top Esports (TES) (-650) ( Projected Kills per game 18.5).

Let’s face it. Top Esports is the most dominant team in the world without question. They have had plenty of ups and downs in the recent splits, but this is by far their best split to date. TES has arguably the best MID laner and the best BOT laner in the world playing side by side with an outstanding Support player to have their backs. They continuously fight through and crush almost every team that they have faced.

TES is facing off against FLY, and I don’t see this being any different from their mid-split games. I think TES is going to jump into the rift and just obliterate Flyquest. FLY does not have any games to catch build their strategy because they are playing the best of one series. I expect TES to dominate this match from start to finish.

MY ESPORTS DFS TOP PLAY: Top Esports (TES) (-650) ( Projected Kills per game 18.5).

SECONDARY PLAY:

(8:00 am) SECONDARY PLAY: Gen G Esports (GEN) (-245) (Projected Kills per game 15.5) vs. LGD Gaming (LGD) (+175) (Projected Kills per game 9.5).

If TES wasn’t playing, GEN would be my top play. They are strategically sound and give every opponent a difficult time. Towards the end of the summer split, they started to explode with kills and completely dominated the opposition. GEN is a veteran team that can and will exploit every little mistake that a team makes.

GEN faces LGD. LGD is an up and down team with many flaws in their gameplan. They showed us that they can be beaten and can be beaten easily when they make mistakes. LGD will have no room for error against GEN, and I see them getting exploited immediately in this matchup.

MY ESPORTS SECONDARY DFS PICK: Gen G Esports (GEN) (-245) (Projected Kills per game 15.5)

HONORABLE MENTION:

(7:00 am) (Value) JDG Gaming (JDG) (+120) (Projected Kills per game 12.5)

(6:00 am) Rogue (RGE) (-200) (Projected Kills per game 15.5)

(5:00 am) Kingzone DragonX (DRX) (-345) (Projected Kills per game 16.5)

Tonight we have two solid matchups in what will be two best of fives series. I will give you my top two picks and plays for tonight’s battles on the rift that start at 2 am EST.

TOP PLAY:

(2:00 am) Legacy Esports (LGC) (Projected Kills per game 8.5) (+475) vs. LGD Gaming (LGD) (-850) ( Projected Kills per game 16.5).

LGD just came out guns blazing on their way to an impressive victory over Rainbow 7. They came out and obliterated R7 worse than I predicted that they would and swept them with three solid games in a row. The way that LGD looked, looked like a top contending team that can not be beaten. If they keep the same pace and productivity, they will have no issues beating Legacy Esports.

Legacy has been a surprise team in the world tournament and has been clicking on all cylinders. They have been very consistent and productive. LGC looks to be a team that, with a little more experience, can become a serious contender. Even though LGC looks solid, I think LGD will be able to handle them pretty easily in a best of five series. They might lose one game, but I don’t think they will lose more than one.

MY ESPORTS DFS TOP PLAY: LGD GAMING (LGD) (-850) (Projected Kills per game 16.5).

VALUE PLAY:

(5:00 am) MATCH TWO: Unicorns Of Love (UOL) (-170) (Projected Kills per game 14.5) vs. Supermassive Esports (SUP) (+125) (Projected Kills per game 13.5).

This matchup is the second, best of five series of the night. SUP just showed the world why they are here competing with the best. They just beat the Mad Lions in a best of five series and have moved on to face the Unicorns Of Love (UOL). Supermassive is trending upwards, and I feel that if they keep playing as a complete team, they will force their way through the standings. SUP has battled it out with every team they have played, and they have prospered. UOL is definitely a force to be reckoned with, and they tend to play a solid strategy, but I feel that SUP will get the best of them and take them out in the fifth and final game of the series.

MY ESPORTS VALUE DFS PICK: Supermassive Esports (SUP) (+125) (Projected Kills per game 13.5)

FAVORITE CAPTAINS / STARS:

Kramer (LGD) (ADC)

Xiye (LGD) (MID)

Bolulu (SUP) (MID)

Zeitnot (SUP) (ADC)

Gadget (UOL) (ADC)

Nomanz (UOL) (MID)

Tally (LGC) (MID)

Raes (LGC) (ADC)

ESPORTS DFS SLATE SUMMARY: WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP

I will be building TEN ESPORTS DFS lineups. My exposure in my LOL DFS lineups will consist of 80% LGD, 60% SUP, 40% UOL, and 20% LGC. Most of my stacks will be four/three. I will prioritize using ADC and MID in my captain spot. If I can not use ADC or MID, I will use any of the other positions to build my lineups with the teams I have selected.

Tonight we are back for League Of Legends (LOL). We in full force with the World Championship! The World Championship is a combination of the best LOL teams in the World playing for that shot at being crowned the best in the World in a very competitive Esports competition. Tonight we have two solid matchups in what will be two best of fives series. I will give you my top two picks and plays for tonight’s battles on the rift that start at 2 am EST.

TOP PLAY:

(2:00 am) Rainbow 7 (R7) (Projected Kills per game 9.5) (+475) vs. LGD Gaming (LGD) (-850) ( Projected Kills per game 17.5).

LGD has been on a roller coaster ride since they started the play-ins at the world tournament. They have taken significant losses to teams that you did not expect them to lose to and then beat teams that you did not expect them to beat. This is the best of five series, and I think LGD has the advantage. They have an overall better team. They have their flaws, but the mistakes that they tend to make can be cleaned up with a little communication. While Rainbow 7 has been an unimpressive team, I feel like they will take one game of the best of five series. I will focus mainly on LGD in my LOL DFS builds and take my picks to the bank!

MY ESPORTS DFS TOP PLAY: LGD GAMING (LGD) (-850) (Projected Kills per game 17.5).

VALUE PLAY:

(6:00 am) MATCH TWO: Supermassive Esports (SUP) (+140) (Projected Kills per game 12.5) vs. Mad Lions (MAD) (-195) (Projected Kills per game 14.5).

This matchup is the second, best of five series of the night. MAD and SUP have not been at all impressive during the world tournament. A few days ago, Supermassive took MAd out in the best of one series, and I feel as if they will do the same thing here. They not only beat them; they obliterated them. It looked as if the Mad Lions forgot how to play League Of Legends. Supermassive looks to have the Mad Lion’s number and should be able to continue to exploit them in a best of five series. I believe this series will go to the fifth and final game with SUP coming out on top.

MY ESPORTS VALUE DFS PICK: Supermassive Esports (SUP) (+140) (Projected Kills per game 12.5)

FAVORITE CAPTAINS / STARS:

Kramer (LGD) (ADC)

Xiye (LGD) (MID)

Bolulu (SUP) (MID)

Zeitnot (SUP) (ADC)

Carzzy (MAD) (ADC)
