NBA DFS Picks for 11-22-2019

We have a healthy, ten-game NBA DFS slate of games at FanDuel and DraftKings tonight. It’s been a minute since I wrote an NBA DFS post, but trust that I have written 1000’s of them over the years as I was one of the first to talk about DFS on the radio and to tout NBA picks at sites like Draft Street and Daily Joust. Let’s see if we can find some nuggets on this ten-game slate.

This is written well before tonight’s injury reports have been filed so please stay alert to see if there isn’t better value than what is presented here today.

Totals

We have a few target friendly NBA games with high totals and these are the four highest totals at the time this post was published.

Charlotte Hornets vs Washington Wizards 233.5

Houston Rockets vs Los Angeles Clippers 227

Atlanta Hawks vs Detroit Pistons 225

San Antonio Spurs vs Philadelphia 76ers 224.5

All prices will be based on DraftKings.

POINT GUARD

Trae Young $9,400: Young has been incredible this season and is up against a Pistons team allowing 81.2 fantasy points per game to point guards. Young has a 36.3 percent Usage Rate and is averaging 47.8 DK NBA points per game. Don’t overthink this one tonight because no one in Detroit is going to stop him from doing his thing tonight.

Also consider Terry Rozier, Patty Mills, Spencer Dinwiddie

Shooting Guard

Luka Doncic $11, 400: That’s a hefty price to pay and $300 bucks less than James Harden but Doncic has the better matchup and he’s going to go through the Cleveland Cavaliers like a hot knife through butter. Doncic averages 68.7 DK NBA points over the past ten games with a 37.6 percent usage rate this season. Doncic might be the best play tonight. He’s a lock and load for me on this slate.

Also, consider Bradley Beal, Buddy Hield, Lou Williams, Garrett Temple

Small Forward

Paul George $8100: George will be tasked with guarding James Harden but we all know the Rockets backcourt won’t play a lick of defense tonight and George is going to go OFF on Houston. George has a 37.7 percent usage rate in the second-highest total on the slate.

Also, consider P.J. Tucker, Markieff Morris, Davis Bertans,

Power Forward

Thomas Bryant $6600: Bryant has a cake matchup tonight against the Hornets and he’s been terrific this season, averaging 32.6 DK NBA points per game with a decent 19.6 usage rate. He has double-double possibilities tonight and at a decent price on the highest total on the sheet.

Also consider James Ennis, Taurean Prince, Kevin Love, Kawhi Leonard

Center

Andre Drummond $8500: Drummond should feast on the Hawks at home tonight and is a double-double machine, averaging 18.6 points with 16.8 rebounds alongside 51 DK NBA points with a 25 percent usage rate per night. This is a lock and load for me tonight and is my second favorite play on the slate.

Wide receiver Paris Campbell has also been ruled OUT for Indianapolis. Those injuries are HUGE and it will be difficult for the Colts to get past that offensively. The Texans have some defensive injuries and this should be an interesting game. Neither team has a defense that would scare anyone and I suspect Texans quarterback Deshaun Watson will have a big game tonight. Tuesday NHL Picks

Vegas is on a two-game winning streak and the San Jose Sharks have won four of their past five games. The Sharks are 3-6-1 on the road this season and are up against Vegas goaltender M.A. Fleury tonight. That’s going to be difficult for them because Fleury has been very good this season and is 6-4-1 this season at T-Mobile Arena. This could wind up an entertaining matchup when the Oilers meet the Los Angeles Kings at STAPLES Center tonight. Edmonton has scored 24 goals over its last five games whereas Los Angeles has potted just 12 goals over its past five games. NCAA Underdogs Tuesday

Ohio quarterback Nathan Rourke is likely going to play on Sundays next season and Miami allowing 211 passing yards is going to look good to Rourke, who’s thrown for 1743 yards and 10 touchdowns this season. The road to March Madness begins tonight as the NCAA Men’s basketball season officially tips-off and there is 87 games on the sheet tonight. That will be the case nearly every day until the Conference Tournaments begin at the end of February and runs through early March.

Names Mean Nothing

You wouldn’t expect a college like UC Irvine would be able to defeat a “name” school such as Kansas State but that’s exactly what happened in the first round of the 2019 NCAA Tournament. UC Irvine was 31-6 last season but bettors flocked to the “name” K-State in droves and the books made a fortune. Some of these smaller schools have pretty good basketball programs. While they might not win the NCAA Championship, upsets are common in NCAA hoops so don’t let the smaller schools scare you away.

Neutral Courts

Early Season Experience Matters

College basketball teams change personnel quickly. The Dukes and Kentucky’s of the world aren’t affected as much by this as most schools. Look for established programs with at least three returning starters or two starters and a key reserve from the season before. Nerves matter and significant returning starters of active reserves probably won’t be as nervous as someone who has never played an NCAA game. If one of those returnees is a center averaging seven or more rebounds, then all the better.

Strength Of Schedule Matters

This applies to the non-conference portion as well as the conference schedule. Getting blown out by Duke affects a teams stats and a Wofford might have a better defense than its skewed number say that it is. Kenneth Pomeroy has a great site offering free tools such as strength of schedule and I highly suggest paying attention to this.

Cash with Flash Best Bets had a rough day Friday, going 2-4 on our NBA “leans” and we have some work to do in order to prevent the first losing week Cash with Flash Best Bets has experienced since joining the Win Daily Sports team in September.

Not much fun to have a losing week but it does give Cash with Flash Best Bets an opportunity for a teaching moment.

What is a Lean?

In handicapping terms, a lean is where a handicapper is strongly considering a specific game but is waiting for more information before recommending a wager.

Why a Lean?

Cash with Flash Best Bets is usually published before 10:00 am ET and that’s well before the injury information is released. It would be impossible for us at Cash with Flash Best Bets to know who is playing at that time because the teams don’t begin releasing information until after morning shoot-around in basketball and the morning skate in the NHL. That makes being definitive on either sport difficult and why we don’t recommend “units” on a lean and we don’t suggest wagering on a “lean” either.

A lean is a lean and I’m sorry I wasn’t more specific with you. Sometimes we forget there are newbies here and Cash with Flash Best Bets needs to be mindful of this.

Why we Took a Loss on a Lean

Cash with Flash Best Bets still took the loss because we didn’t come back and change the Pistons -3.5 to a Pistons minus two when word that Blake Griffin would miss Friday nights game with Chicago. Detroit covers the two points if they shoot closer to the 41 percent they shot from downtown over their previous five games as opposed to the 20 percent they shot Friday from downtown against the Bulls and until last night Chicago had one of the worst defenses against the triple and the Pistons minus two was a good bet with or without Griffin.

What to Do When You See a Lean

Last night the Milwaukee Bucks-Orlando Magic opened at 216 points and it didn’t matter who was in or out, that was too many points. Orlando hasn’t scored 100 points or more in any one game this season and the Bucks defense hasn’t been the suffocating force as it was last season. Milwaukee allowed the Boston Celtics to go on a 26-7 third-quarter run and eventually lost the game and you can bet the Bucks players heard about this from Head Coach Mike Budenholzer. Up until Friday, the Magic allowed a total of 93.8 points per game and the likelihood the game goes under the total is greater than it going over. The total settled at 214 points but anyone who hopped on the 216 points train wound up cashing while the 214 point bettors wound up with a push.

Whenever you see a professional handicapper like Phil Naessens suggest a lean, it would be in your best interest to do a bit of investigation into why Phil is leaning a certain way. What was just described for you in the paragraph above took all of five minutes and had you spent five minutes to do your own research, you would have taken the 216 points to the counter and cashed a ticket.

Cash with Flash Best Bets is fun for me to write and break up the tedium of my full-time job as a professional sports handicapper. I enjoy bringing this daily post to you and Cash with Flash Best Bets attempts to give you the very best betting opportunities that we can find but sometimes it sucks.

Sometimesyou just must laugh.

The Miami Heat did exactly what Cash with Flash Best Bets thought they would do and covered the 6.5 points we laid on the road. The Los Angeles Clippers covered the five points at home against the San Antonio Spurs and that left Cash with Flash Best Bets 2-0 in NBA wagers. That was the good part.

San Francisco was headed towards an easy cover on the road against a very determined Arizona Cardinals team. The 49ers defense has been terrific and probably still is but allowed 18 second-half points and blew our cover.

TheNashville Predators and Vegas Golden Knights both lost in overtime and thosetwo losses gave Cashwith Flash Best Bets its 12^th NHL overtime loss in the pastmonth.
