I want to start off this article by saying you must have the absolute nuts to win the top prize up top on large field GPPs. There is no room for mistakes with so many entries in these contests. If you think you are going to win it all by playing a combo of the top seven guys in the player pool, you are not. If a combo of a bunch of guys you have heard of before is indeed the best scoring lineup, you will most likely tie for first. If that sounds good to you, then go for it. It will be profitable if you nail it, but for me I like to be a little different on these slates. I will be making multiple teams and taking long shots on a few cheap guys.
Leaving cash on the table in these NFL DFS contests is fine too. This makes your lineup even more unique and lower owned because a lot of amateurs will be pulling their hair out to use their entire salary.
That all being said, I have looked at every possible player that can get on the field and listed my picks below.
The NFL DFS Week 9 Thursday Night Showdown Picks
I have won four of the last five NFL Showdowns by using different combinations of picks out of this article. Let’s make it five out of six!

NFL DFS Tournament Strategy: Stack four 49ers with only one Cardinal. San Fran has perhaps the best defense in the league and I wouldn’t be surprised if Arizona does not get in the end zone once. Salary doesn’t matter on showdown slates. Do worry about spending every dollar you have. If you do, you will tie in large field GPPs. Most of my builds will have two San Fransisco pass catchers, Garoppolo, and a running back from the 49ers. Then I will literally just pick a Cardinal that fits. I will have multiple lineups which is how you win Showdown Slates. There are tournaments for every budget.
MVP: George Kittle ($13,500 FD) You play tight ends against the Arizona Cardinals. While they have made slight improvements over the past two weeks they are not going to be able to stop George Kittle.
MVP Pivot: Jimmy Garoppolo ($15,500 FD) If George Kittle, or any of the receivers are putting up big numbers, (and they will) so is the QB. The 49ers are going to be able to move the ball much easier than the Cardinals will. Jimmy should have himself a nice game here. I may lock him in virtually all of my lineups. Some at MVP some at Flex.
MVP Pivot: Tevin Coleman ($14,000 FD) He isn’t going for 34 FanDuel points again, but getting in the end zone at least once is likely. He is also a threat in the passing game, which is the best way to attack the Cardinals.

- 49ers Defense on DraftKings
- Emmanuel Sanders ($11,000 FD) He is now the best receiver they have, should be able to expose Cardinals defense
- Deebo Samuel ($9,500 FD) He is a receiver going against a bad D
- David Johnson ($12,500 FD) if he plays
- Kyler Murray ($15,000 FD) You have to play someone from the Cardinals
- Larry Fitzgerald ($8,500 FD) your next best option, I am only playing one Cardinal
- Christian Kirk ($11,500 FD) Cardinals deep threat
- Robbie Gould ($9,500 FD) Every time the Niners score, so does he
- OUT Marquise Goodwin ($6,000 FD) Pretty cheap for him
- Matt Breida ($10,000 FD) He will play tonight
- Raheem Mostert ($8,000 FD) He is also playing. If I land on two 49ers RB’s in one of my lineups I will most likely fade Jimmy G
- OUT Damiere Byrd ($5,500 FD) Also a good price for the Cardinals reciever
- Charles Clay ($6,500 FD) Cardinals TE
- Zane Gonzalez ($9,000 FD) Cards kicker

- Jeff Wilson ($5,000 FD) Only if Breida and Mostert are out. He would be Coleman’s backup
- Zach Zenner ($10,500 FD) He will get some touches if David Johnson is out, might even be more than Drake.
- Trent Sherfield ($5,000 FD) Cardinals WR punt
- Maxx Williams ($5,000 FD) Cardinals TE
- Kendrick Bourne ($5,500 FD) Punt at WR
- Dante Pettis ($5,500 FD) Huge punt at WR
- KeeSean Johnson ($5,000 FD) same
- Pharoh Cooper ($5,000 FD) same
- Kenyan Drake ($11,500 FD) Hilarious price for the newly acquired RB. He is a punt.
- Levine Toilolo ($5,000 FD) He might not even play, but he is also a tight end against the Cardinals
- Ross Dwelley ($5,000 FD) If Toilolo is out, he will be the backup tight end against the Cardinals
