I want to start off this article by saying you must have the absolute nuts to win the top prize up top on large field GPPs. There is no room for mistakes with so many entries in these contests. If you think you are going to win it all by playing a combo of the top seven guys in the player pool, you are not. If a combo of a bunch of guys you have heard of before is indeed the best scoring lineup, you will most likely tie for first. If that sounds good to you, then go for it. It will be profitable if you nail it, but for me I like to be a little different on these slates. I will be making multiple teams and taking long shots on a few cheap guys.
Leaving cash on the table in these NFL DFS contests is fine too. This makes your lineup even more unique and lower owned because a lot of amateurs will be pulling their hair out to use their entire salary.
That all being said, I have looked at every possible player that can get on the field and listed my picks below.
The NFL DFS Week 8 Sunday Night Showdown Picks
MVP: Aaron Rodgers ($16,000 FD) He scorched the Raiders last week and won people a lot of money. I think he will be popular but for good reason. He is the most likely player to score the most points on this slate. The only person I see catching him is listed below.
Pivots: Aaron Jones ($14,500 FD) If it isn’t Rodgers that is putting up all the points for the Packers, it should be Jones. He is getting less carries recenlty than I would like to see (12 and 11 the last two weeks) but that doesn’t 100% mean it will not happen this week. Every three weeks he is getting around 20 carries. I would play him hoping that the Green Bay receivers return to being mediocre this week which means they will need to lean on the run game more. There is also a chance that the Packers D can show up and get a few turnovers off of backup QB Matt Moore. Correlating defense with your running back has proven to be an effective strategy. The Kansas City Chiefs are one of the worst defensive lines against the run in the NFL.
High Risk Pivot: Jamaal Williams ($9,000 FD) If it isn’t Rodgers scoring and also isn’t Aaron Jones then it would have to be backup RB and pass catcher Jamaal Williams. He is priced higher than I like and is very high risk.
NFL DFS Flex Options:
Listed in order of preference with prices factored it
- Travis Kelce ($11,500 FD) I expect Matt Moore to target the big guy heavily. He doesn’t have Mahomes are to sling it 60 yards to Hill, so I think we see more checkdowns in an attempt to methodically drive down the field.
- LeSean McCoy ($8,500 FD) I think the Chiefs come out trying to run to not put too much pressure on Matt Moore. McCoy is the starting RB. If he gets it going early we should be in for a good night. If he does not, then Andy Reid will give Damien Williams a longer look. I would not play both RBs on the same team.
- Tyreek Hill ($13,500 FD) Big play receiver in a primetime game. I think he will be lower owned than normal with no Mahomes.
- Geronimo Allison ($8,000 FD) Despite MVS out scoring him last week, I still think Rodgers prefers Allison. He has more targets the last three games than any Green Bay receiver.
- Marquez Valdes-Scantling ($12,000 FD) Green Bay WR2
- Jamaal Williams ($9,000 FD) Green Bay RB2 and pass catcher. I wouldn’t play him with Aaron Jones
- Jimmy Graham ($11.000 FD)
- Mason Crosby ($9,500 FD) Packers kicker
- Sammy Watkins ($8,000 FD) He is playing but be careful with him. He is coming off a hammy and traditionally struggles to stay on the field.
- Allen Lazard ($7,500 FD) He has been getting playing time with Adams off the field. Aaron Rodgers speaks highly of him and he will get a handful of targets.
- Damien Williams ($7,500 FD) Don’t play with McCoy
- Jake Kumerow ($7,500 FD) He will not be targeted heavily, but should get a few looks. Makes since as a dart throw for the price
- Harrison Butker ($10,000 FD) Chiefs Kicker, price feels high on FanDuel
Punts:
- Mecole Hardman ($7,500 FD) Sammy Watkins is back so he gets a bump down
- Demarcus Robinson ($7,000 FD) Same goes for Robinson. He has not done much in weeks with Mahomes as QB, so I don’t really expect him to do much here.

Kansas City defensive backs can be beat and Rodgers is hot right now. I think he gets to 300 yard and at least two touchdowns. Matt Moore is just not a starting caliber NFL QB, I don’t think he eclipses the 240 mark even with the Chiefs receiving weapons.
