NFL DFS GPP Advice – Stick’s Stacks for Week Eight

Week Seven was another fun and profitable week. I was really hoping for Davante Adams to return to action so I could use the Packers as my main stack, but as you saw in last week’s Stick’s Stacks, I was only going to go overweight on Rodgers and the Packers if Adams was in. Although I was way more underweight on Rodgers’ as I should have been, the Packers’ stacks that I did use were enough to keep my NFL DFS GPP entries profitable in Week Seven.

The purpose of this weekly article is to identify team/game stacks that we are going to use for an NFL DFS GPP. For those of you that don’t know, a “team stack” is simply multiple players from the same team (I rarely ever use more than three players on a given team).

A “game stack” is similar, except we are going to use players from both teams in a given game. Focusing on team stacks and game stacks is incredibly useful in the NFL DFS GPP environment. That being said, let’s get to this week’s top NFL DFS stacks for DraftKings!

Top NFL DFS GPP Game Stacks

Oakland Raiders @ Houston Texans (51.5)

It’s a very interesting slate at first glance for Week Eight. I usually like to take aim at a few different game stacks, but this Oakland @ Houston game seems to be the only one I want to be overweight on. What I like most about this game is that we know where production is going to come from on both sides – there really aren’t a whole lot of question marks outside of the Raiders’ receiving core.

The Texans’ defense is a pass funnel and we’re starting to see Josh Jacobs utilized a bit more in the passing game. Obviously, we all know how important Waller is for this Raiders’ passing game as well. If he plays, I really like Zay Jones for a buy-low week.

Will Fuller is going to miss this game with a hamstring injury, so we should be more than confident in Hopkins’ target share in addition to some exposure to Keke Coutee and Kenny Stills.

Oakland Raiders

  • Darren Waller ($5,900)
  • Josh Jacobs ($5,800)
  • Derek Carr ($5,000)
  • Zay Jones ($3,000)
  • Keelan Doss ($3,300)

Houston Texans

  • Deshaun Watson ($7,100)
  • DeAndre Hopkins ($8,100)
  • Carlos Hyde ($4,700)
  • Kenny Stills ($4,500)
  • Keke Coutee ($4,100)

New York Giants @ Detroit Lions (49)

This game looks to have the second highest total on the slate and I’m hopeful this game is going to be significantly more up-pace than what we usually see a Lions’ game played at. Kerryon Johnson is now on the injury-reserve so the logic here is that Detroit is going to have to pass more.

Similar to the Houston game above, I like this game as well because we know where the production is going to come from on both sides of this game. Detroit has struggled in the pass rush department, so we should finally see a 20+ outing out of Daniel Jones (which we haven’t seen since his debut in Week Three).

New York Giants

  • Saquon Barkley ($8,900)
  • Evan Engram ($5,300)
  • Golden Tate ($5,800) – tough matchup against Justin Coleman in the slot.
  • Darius Slayton ($3,900) – Snaps have been there for Slayton. The price is great and I’m a true believer in his talent.
  • Daniel Jones ($5,800)

Detroit Lions

  • Kenny Golladay ($6,400)
  • Matthew Stafford ($6,100)
  • Marvin Jones Jr. ($5,800)
  • T.J. Hockenson ($3,500)
  • Ty Johnson ($4,900)
  • Danny Amendola ($4,100)

Seattle Seahawks @ Atlanta Falcons (TBD)

If Matt Ryan plays, this game should provide DFS players with the highest floor for points being scored. Atlanta’s defense is absolutely awful and they will almost certainly be playing from behind early in this game… which should lead to a ton of passing and points.

Assuming Matt Ryan can go, this will shift to my favorite game stack on the slate and I’m sure it will become the chalk game-stack in the DFS community.

As of now, my main NFL DFS GPP lineup will be a stack of Wilson-Metcalf-Lockett (I don’t think a lot of players will use both receivers in the same lineup).

Seattle Seahawks

  • Russell Wilson ($7,200)
  • Tyler Lockett ($7,000)
  • DK Metcalf ($5,000)
  • Chris Carson ($7,000)
  • Jaron Brown ($4,000)

Atlanta Falcons (No Matt Ryan)

  • Julio Jones ($7,700)
  • Austin Hooper ($5,500)
  • Calvin Ridley ($5,600)
  • Devonta Freeman ($5,400)
  • Matt Ryan ($6,000)

Top NFL DFS GPP Team Stacks

Tampa Bay Buccaneers

The Bucs really do not have an identity in the running game and their defense continues to give up points on a consistent basis (currently the seventh most points against in the NFL). Bad news for the Bucs is they aren’t going to be able to run yet again in Week Eight against a top-five run defense in Tennessee.

We should expect another pass-heavy gamescript for the Bucs this week at what should be rather low ownership.

  • Mike Evans ($6,600)
  • Chris Godwin ($7,100)
  • Jameis Winston ($5,900)
  • O.J. Howard ($3,300) – Great price. I like his chances of finally being involved in the passing game after a bye week and facing a Titans’ defense who has struggled with opposing tight ends. INJURED

Los Angeles Rams

I tend to avoid games in England, but the Rams are in an incredible spot against what could be the worst defense in the NFL. The Bengals have a hard time defending all aspects of their opponents’ offense and they’re going to have their hands full with a Rams unit that needs to string together some wins here.

I’ll always have concerns with stacking double-digit favorites in DFS (the Rams are currently favored by 13 points against Cincinatti) but I’m confident the Rams are going to make a statement early in this game. Sean McVay has been criticized that this offense isn’t what it used to be so I expect him to quiet the critics on Sunday.

Will McVay run the score up on his former colleague, Zac Taylor? I doubt it, but they will score 30+ points and that’s something we need to target in DFS.

  • Brandin Cooks ($5,700)
  • Jared Goff ($6,800)
  • Robert Woods ($6,300)
  • Todd Gurley ($7,400)
  • Darrell Henderson ($4,000)
  • Rams Defense (3,800)
  • Gerald Everett ($4,300)

Chicago Bears

Alright, this is disgusting. I know it. You know it. Even Matt Nagy knows it. But hear me out a little bit… the Chargers’ defense and pass rush has been as bad or worse than the Bears’ offense lately. Trubisky will have time to throw and I really like this matchup for Allen Robinson and the Bears’ wideouts (mainly just Robinson and Miller).

We’re looking at a week where McCaffrey may be around 10% in ownership so my angle here is that I can afford the world if I use Trubisky and a Bears’ wideout or two. I probably won’t use them in my main NFL DFS GPP lineups this week, but I will have some exposure to the Bears’ offense. I also love the over in this game…

  • Allen Robinson ($6,000)
  • Mitch Trubisky ($4,900) – He doesn’t run anymore so we’re realistically looking at a 18-25 point ceiling. At this price, we just need 18+ DraftKings points.
  • Anthony Miller ($3,500) – 16 targets in his last two games. You can’t find a WR under $4k that has that volume. He is 100% in play for GPPs if you need salary relief.
  • Tarik Cohen ($4,700)
  • David Montgomery ($4,400) – Montgomery will score a touchdown this week.

Sample NFL DFS GPP Lineup

QB: Mitch Trubisky
RB: Saquon Barkley
RB: Christian McCaffrey
WR: Allen Robinson
WR: Anthony Miller
WR: Mike Evans
TE: Jonnu Smith
FLEX: Tevin Coleman
DST: Indianapolis Colts
