David Jones won 100K on FanDuel! Read about it here
IMPORTANT: NBA DFS is completely different than any other sport. Players get ruled out five minutes before games and you HAVE TO BE READY to pivot. I will update this article as close to lineup lock as possible with any big news, but play it safe and stay on top of the news yourself. Hanging out in our Slack Chat is a great way to keep up to date.
I refer to FanDuel pricing today.
1/7 NBA DFS Point Guard
- Damian Lillard ($8,900 FD) CJ McCollum looks questionable (illness) for tomorrow. If he is out lock in Lillard against Kyle Lowry’s poor defense.
- Kyle Lowry ($8,400 FD) Fred Van Fleet and Norman Powell are out. Kyle Lowry is going to get his normal 40 minus plus more usage. I am most likely stacking up the point guards in this game and letting them go back and forth in what should stay a close game.
- Chris Paul ($6,800 FD) He has been playing his normal allotment of minutes on back to backs which isn’t something we were used to seeing with Paul in years past. He is underpriced and going against the 28th place team against defending the point guard in the Brooklyn Nets. Solid price, solid play.
1/7 NBA DFS Shooting Guard
- Devin Booker ($8,800 FD) You want to target the Kings with shooting guards, especially ones that are on a hot streak. If Booker doesn’t easily exceed 40 FanDuel points here, it’s a fluke.
- Andrew Wiggins ($6,900 FD) I love this spot for him, especially if Towns is still out. His price came down slightly because he has missed a few games recently and is getting his groove back. Memphis, while they have gotten a little better agains the guard, are still a spot you want to attach in NBA DFS. If Towns is in, I downgrade him.
- Buddy Hield ($6,400 FD) He is also on a hot streak and goes against the poor defense of Devin Booker. These two should be back and forth all night. I like paring them together in NBA DFS.
- Shai Gilgeous-Alexander ($6,500 FD) I think this is too cheap. The Nets are one of the fastest paced teams in the league which leads to more shot attempts, assist and rebounds. SGA is getting about 36 minutes a night. He has a safe floor with 45 points upside in NBA DFS.
- UPDATE. McCaw starting Punt Terence Davis ($3,600 FD) No Van Fleet and No Powell so he will get somewhat more time on the court, however Patrick McCaw will also be involved. I am not as high on him as the rest of the industry seems to be. Plenty of great shooting guards to pay up for.
- Punt Bruce Brown (4,800 FD)
1/7 Small Forward
- Lebron James ($10,900 FD)Update: He is not guaranteed to play tonight. He “is going to try” and play. He plays the Knicks. He will get as much as he wants as long as the game stays close, which is well, unlikely. Even in a blowout, the King can rack up 50 fantasy points, which isn’t technically exceeding value, but it would make him the highest scoring power forward on the slate.
- Kelly Oubre ($7,600 FD) His price has shot up with his current hot streak. He will be in one of the highest scoring games of the slate tonight and there is not reason to think he cools down against the Kings. Harrison Barnes should be matched up with him, but he is no longer an elite defender in the league. I feel safe that he will not bust in this spot.
- Carmelo Anthony ($5,800 FD) Only if CJ McCollum is out. That would mean more shot attempts and minutes for Melo. He is hit or miss sometimes so pay up if you can.
- Jared Culver ($4,700 FD) If KAT out
Punt: Update: He gets a little worse with Thompson playing now. I no longer really want him on my main team. Cedi Osman ($4,200 FD) I can see him getting 35 minutes here and that should be plenty for Osman to exceed value, however he too is hit or miss whether he is getting minutes or not. Punt.
Punt 2: Trevor Ariza ($3,800 FD) He is getting more time on the court lately with the Kings getting the injury bug. Tonight he faces one of his former teams in what looks like a high scoring game. You have to consider him as a punt against the poor defense of the Suns. I would prefer not to play him, however if you build a team you love, and have to punt SF, you could do worse.
1/7 Power Forward
- Anthony Davis ($11,600 FD) He gets the nod because he has put up two back to back 70 point games, albeit in better spots. If this one can find a way to stay close against the Knicks he could sniff 60 FanDuel points again here. If it is a blowout, he can still get you close to 50. Either way, it probably makes him the highest scoring power forward on this slate.
- Serge Ibaka ($7,500 FD) It is a little more than I typically like to spend on Serge because his minutes are staying at or under 30 per game, however I love taking big men against the Trailblazers. One of them is going to have a great game. If you need the salary you can slide down to Rondae Hollis-Jefferson at $4,900 FD.
- Robert Covington ($5,500 FD) Only if KAT out
- UPDATE: DONT PLAY. TRISTAN EXPECTED TO PLAY John Henson ($3,500 FD) He should be drawing the start with Tristan Thompson already ruled out. Last game he hit value easy, but Kevin Love was also out. If Love is “resting” again this game lock in Henson. If Love plays he is still a viable salary saver.
- Sekou Doumbouya ($4,600 FD) He has gotten over 34 minutes in each of the last two games with the Pistons racking up a lot of injuries recently. That kind of time against the Cavs should equal fantasy production.
Update: Holmes is doubtful. Nemanja Bjelica ($4,700 FD) Would become a fantastic cheap PF against the Suns. I would rank him above Henson and Doumbouya. Harry Giles will also get more time in Holmes absence.
Punt: Christian Wood ($4,600 FD) I would probably take the minutes with Sekou over Wood, but he will have the same matchup, just less time on the court.
1/7 DFS Center
- Andre Drummond ($10,300 FD) He should be able to destroy the Cavs tonight who are missing Tristan Thompson. Blake Griffin is still out and Drummond is still soaking up all the boards. He is my highest scoring center tonight.
- Hassan Whiteside ($8,900 FD) He puts up over 40 virtually every night. The Trailblazers missing CJ McCollum should give him a small uptick in usage.
- Update: Steven Adams ($6,500 FD) I was not originally on him but now Galo and Noel are out, which helps Adams, because he will not be as limited on a back to back like I originally expect. The Thunder will need him on the court and he has been aggressive lately while putting up quality fantasy numbers. He goes agains the Nets tonight who are not a team you have to avoid with centers.
- Gorgui Dieng ($6,000 FD) Only play him in Karl Anthony Towns is out. He went nuts in 29 minutes last game with 56 FanDuel points. While I would not expect that again, he should be able to get 30+ against a the Memphis Grizzlies.
