Welcome to the Saturday edition of the Stack City, where I’ll be going through the top MLB DFS Stacks on DraftKings and Fanduel. 

On DK, they’ve prepared for us a monster menu of 11 games in the 2:10 PM EST early slate, so we’re focusing on that chaos and digging in to find the stacks and hitters who could bring us glory and take down a GPP.

We should once again peruse Adam’s Starting Rotation article as our first order of business to help decide on arms, for the early and main slates. Colorado and Washington have the highest probability of weather impact, though probably less for bats as both games should play. We aren’t really looking at the PIT-COL pitchers and it’s a high-upside offensive contest we have to consider. In Washington, it likely only impacts whether or not we roll with Max Fried at SP.

Now it’s time to get to the stacks and build that bankroll!

MLB DFS Hitter Stacks – 2:10 PM Slate

Pittsburgh Pirates vs. Jose Urena (Game Stack possible)

We talk a lot about fading Coors Field when it’s applicable, but I really don’t see any way around using a bunch of Pirates tonight in a bounce-back game and what may end up being the chalkiest Saturday stack we’ve seen this season.

The Rockies’ starter leaves plenty to be desired from a metrics perspective, though he’s fared well in six games this season for Milwaukee (four relief appearances) and Colorado (two starts). The K/9 is woefully low (3.52) and he’s walking guys at an untenable rate, especially for Coors. I could see the Pirates jumping on him for 5-6 runs before anybody could sit down with their expensive beers.

The most expensive (and dynamic) Pirates hitter is scintillating young shortstop O’Neil Cruz at just $4,400, and I’ll be making him the anchor of my builds along with Kevin Newman (2B eligible), who recent ly returned form injury on July 9 and is starting to heat up at the plate. After that, I’ll be getting shares of Daniel Vogelbach, Yoshi Tsutsugo, KeBryan Hayes, Josh Van Meter and Ben Gamel.

Running it back with the Rockies, the priorities are C.J. Cron, Charlie Blackmon, Kris Bryant and Randal Grichuk — though Ryan McMahon is affordable as well.

Atlanta Braves vs. Paolo Espino

Paolo Espino toiled away in the minors for many years before his 2017 MLB debut, so he’s been at this a long time. And while he’s found some success this season, I’m guessing the potent crew of Atlanta bats will produce more in line with his FIP/xFIP than his 3.42 ERA, which should mean some early scoring opportunities. All the usual suspects are in play here, including Ronald Acuna, Dansby Swanson, Austin Riley, Matt Olson and Michael Harris as the most exciting plays.

Once again we’ve got a favorable matchup for the Braves and some weather that could keep folks away in MLB DFS, so keep an eye on the radar and ownership as lock approaches and tune in to Discord for updates on both. That advice never gets old.

Blue Jays vs. Daniel Lynch

These Jays hitters should be an absolute nightmare for Lunch, as they have been in the past. While the Royals starter has improved a bit since last season, he’s still carrying a 4.92 ERA and 4.54 xFIP.

Based on Lynch’s pitch repertoire and tendencies, I will prioritize Vladimir Guerrero, Alejandro Kirk, Santiago Espinal, Teoscar Hernandez and Matt Chapman — mixing in shares of Bo Bichette and George Springer when I can afford it as they are two of the most expensive hitters at their respective positions. There’s plenty to love about using this game as a little different way to attack GPP on this slate with so much ownership going to the Coors Field game.

Houston Astros vs. Jared Koenig

Last Saturday, these two teams played in the RingCentral Coliseum in Oakland, but now we’ve got a much better venue offense, and we have to really like the Astros even more today facing Koenig.

Jose Altuve is DTD with a leg injury and Yordan Alvarez joins Michael Brantley on the IL, and I’m shying away fromn using Altuve with all the other options available, so this could end up being our MLB DFS value stack with the auxiliary pieces after plugging in Kyle Tucker, Alex Bregman and Jeremy Pena. Those options include Mauricio Dubon, Aledmys Diaz, Martin Maldonado and Yuri Gurriel. If I had to pick just one hitter from the “spends” and one from the “savings”, it would be Tucker and Diaz.
