MLB DFS Hitter Stacks (Aug. 7)

Welcome to the Sunday edition of the Stack City, where I’ll be going through the top MLB DFS Stacks on DraftKings and Fanduel.

We have near-identical eight- and nine-game main slates on DK and FD, both starting at 1:35 PM EST. FD adds the CWS-TEX game as its late hammer, -only) to a slate filled with favorable hitting weather and a couple of clear-cut aces. The arms you can find discussed in great detail over in Adam’s Starting Rotation, the best daily article you can read on MLB DFS SP options.

Now it’s time to get to the stacks and build that bankroll!

MLB DFS Hitter Stacks – 1:35 PM EST

Milwaukee Brewers vs. Graham Ashcraft

The Brewers have a projected game total a few decimal points below some of the more obvious game stacks on Sunday’s slate, but I wanted to start with them since they’ve already shown an ability to brutalize Ashcraft (5.0 IP, 8 H, 6 ER back on June 18). Last week we got them at a big discount, but they’re still in play in GPPs because of their ability to pour on runs quickly.

The best options on this lineup include Christian Yelich, Kolten Wong, Rowdy Tellez, Willy Adames and Hunter Renfroe, but I’m plenty interested in switch-hitting catcher Victor Caratini‘s positional value at $3K. Additionally, I’ll find a spot for Keston Hiura, who was called up from Triple-A and homered last night, if he plays in consecutive games.

Philadelphia Phillies vs. Cory Abbott

The release of Didi Gregorius unofficially ushers in the Bryson Stott Era in Philadelphia, and the 2B/SS eligible infielder should have much more playing time moving forward. Today, that means he’s in play as a value piece (at $3,200) that we’ll need to get those top arms and a few sluggers in our builds. The top hitting options for the Phillies include an expensive but viable GPP core play in Kyle Schwarber ($6,200), your choice of Rhys Hoskins or Darick Hallon DraftKings (both 1B only) and another high-upside play at catcher with Garrett Stubbs ($3,500). Rounding out the options are Alec Bohm, Jean Segura, Brandon Walsh and Nick Castellanos.

Castellanos remains a somewhat mysterious case this season, but he’s very cheap and has three hits in his last eight AB, including a HR. The two lineups we’ve covered so far have a bunch of high-profile guys mixed among lesser players in the $3K-$4K range, but many of them are in excellent spots.

Boston Red Sox vs. Brad Keller (w/possible game stack)

If you’re looking for a game stack and were left unsatisfied with how few fireworks we saw in last night’s action, let me suggest dipping back in this game stack — which features two mediocre SPs and plenty of projected hitting. It’s in KC, but the weather looks good for the lumber to carry a few balls out.

Let’s start with the Red Sox and value piece Bobby Dalbec, available to platy at 1B or 3B. He’s got a solid BvP against Keller in a small sample already, and the power has been chugging along lately at a pace reminiscent of his introduction to the majors in 2020. The studs I’m looking for the most exposure to are Rafael Devers and J.D. Martinez, but Alex Verdugo is a great value option and I can’t fault you for playing either Xander Bogaerts or Tommy Pham. Leadoff hitter Jarren Duran also provides salary relief if he’s in the lineup. I expected Jaylin Davis to lead off for Boston and instead he slotted in eighth. I’m not making that same mistake again, as the extra ABs might be needed to take down a GPP today.

My favorite Royals hitter is M.J. Melendez, who led off last night’s game with a homer and remains a dynamic young player making the most of this opportunity and dual eligibility at C/OF. From there we can fill in with value pieces like Vinny Pasquantino ($2,100) and Kyle Isbel ($2K), as well as rookies Bobby Witt and Nick Pratto.

Also consider for hitting stacks:

Toronto Blue Jays stack vs. Chris Archer

Baltimore Orioles stack vs. Brye Wilson
