IMPORTANT: NBA DFS is completely different that any other sport. Players get ruled out five minutes before games and you HAVE TO BE READY to pivot. I will update this article as close to lock as possible with any big news, but play it safe and stay on top of the news yourself. Hanging out in our Slack Chat is a great way to keep up to date.

Note: The Nuggets/Magic game is the lowest total on tonight’s seven game slate by 20 points. I do not have much interest in targeting anyone from this game. I will usually cross off the lowest scoring game on big slates to help narrow the player pool.

Point Guard

  1. Ben Simmons ($9,500 FD)

Joel Embiid is suspended this game for fight with KAT. Whenever Embiid is out you need to have very high interest in the starting 76ers. Embiid takes up so much usage for that team and when he isn’t on the court it is distributed amongst the remaining starting five. The matchup against Portland is also something I like to target. Early in the season they are ranked 28th against defending the point guard. Ben Simmons is a triple double threat with Embiid off the court. He will be in my main NBA DFS line.

2. Damien Lillard ($10,200 FD)

I do think he or Ben Simmons will be the highest scoring player at the position. If I am rostering three 76ers on my main lineup (I probably am) it would make sense to have a scorer from the opposing team. Lillard has not scored less than 40 FanDuel points in any game this season. He has also got at least 34 minutes in every game so far. That is the kind of safe floor I love in NBA DFS. If you play Lillard you won’t regret it. He will not be the reason you lose.

Pivots: (in order)

Ricky Rubio: Still underpriced in NBS DFS against a new look, worse defense Memphis Grizzlies

Kyrie Irving: Target Pistons always, he is entering the second night of a B2B which is why I don’t have him in my top three

Jeff Teague: Usage bump against a team that is bad defending the point guard.

Shooting Guard

  1. Devin Booker ($8,700 FD)

The Memphis Grizzlies are no longer a slow down defense. In fact, quite the opposite. They are towards the worst in the league at defending the shooting guard and Devin Booker is elite. As always he will be leaned on heavily to keep the Suns in the game. He will get anywhere from 35-40 minutes in a close game. I would expect 40 NBA DFS FanDuel points for him tonight and at $8,700 that makes him the best mid-high range spend for me today. I wouldn’t be shocked at all to see him hanging around Bradley Beal’s production for $1,200 less.

2. QUESTIONABLE D’Angelo Russell ($9,400 FD)

He is going to run the offense for a second night in a row. If the Warriors are in this game it is because Russell is going off. I don’t expect Kerr to limit his minutes here even though they played last night. There is no Curry, no Klay, no KD and probably no Green. It will be the D’Angelo Russel show against the Charolette Hornets.

Pivot:

Bradley Beal ($9,900 FD) Elite player, elite spot, I am just not predicting another 60 points like he did last outing in a game that had 317 points. Still 50 points is something that he could achieve here. He is a good play just ranking him a tick lower than Booker and Russel with price factored in. If you have the salary play Beal and feel safe about it.

C.J. McCollum: He is still too cheap. 30 point floor with 45 point upside in my favorite NBA DFS game to target tonight.

Small Forward

  1. Tobias Harris ($7,000 FD)

He gets a usage bump with Joel Embiid suspended. He, as well as Simmons and Horford all exceeded value last time Embiid missed. I have no problem playing all three in the same line. In NBA you look for usage bumps and minutes and that’s what all the starting 76ers will get tonight. Harris should be on the court at least 35 minutes. Another easy play on Philly.

2. Giannis Antetokounmpo ($11,500 FD)

He will be the highest scoring shooting forward but he is also the most expensive. If you have the salary go ahead and get him in. He had a game last night in Orlando but only played 30 minutes. He should be in line for about the same tonight and I would expect around 50 FanDuel points for him.

Pivot:

Glenn Robinson: only if he is starting and Green is out. He only got 20 minutes last night but it was the first night of a back to back. He should get more tonight.

Note: Matissee Thybulle would appear to be in a good spot tonight with no Embiid. However most of his fantasy production comes from blocks and steals. That is not something I can count on personally. I will not have much of him, if any tonight.

Power Forward

  1. Al Horford ($6,900 FD)

No Emiid in the paint for the 76ers also means the newly acquired Al Horford should exceed his FanDuel and DraftKings price. He goes against a Portland Trailblazers squad who are going to be without Zach Collins and Pau Gasol. Hassan Whiteside is currently questionable and may play, however his defense isn’t anything I would avoid. The last game Embiid missed Horford put up 44 FD points. I would expect something similar from him here. He has a very safe floor and high upside tonight in NBA DFS. Portland is 25th against defending the power forward. Horford is a main line lock.

2. Noah Vonleh ($3,500 FD)

We need confirmation he is starting but he should be. Karl Anthony Towns is suspended this game so Vonleh will need to fill to void against the vulnerable Washington Wizards big men. Every game except the last one Vonleh has been averaging about a point per minute which is what we look for. If he gets 25-30 minus here he is in a prime position smash his salary.

Pivots: Rui Hachimura, Anthony Tolliver, Eric Paschall (if Green out and he is starting)

Note: I am very interested to see what the Warriors are going to do at power forward tonight if Draymond Green misses. I love to target the Hornets in the paint and want a piece of whoever is starting for the Warriors

Center

Andre Drummond ($10,300 FD)

There is no KAT and no Embiid tonight which makes the center position a lot easier to predict. Andre the Giant is going to get 35 minutes against the Brooklyn Nets with no Blake Griffin to take away his usage. He has a double double in every game this season and will not break the streak tonight. Find a way to get him in or regret it immediately when lineups lock.

Pivots: (in order)

Thomas Bryant: Starting center for the Wizards who gets to go against a KAT-less Minnesota Timberwolves. The big man should be able to get what he wants. Nice, safe NBA DFS value play.

Cody Zeller: Again, if Draymond Green is out for the Warriors the matchup gets even juicier for Zeller.

Hassan Whiteside: If he is playing a normal allotment of minutes then I can get behind it with thin Portland front court with no Collins or Gasol. Bonus that Embiid will not be there to challenge him for rebounds.

Note: Willie Cauley-Stein: The Warriors are still building up his minutes. He is not yet able to achieve a high ceiling game. I’m off it on FanDuel in NBA DFS.
