NBA DFS Saturday Night Position Breakdown with DFS Pro David Jones

NBA DFS is all about finding the best opportunities for guaranteed production with a high upside. Follow my stud and value plays and lock in the NBA DFS Picks of Destiny.

David Jones won 100K on FanDuel! Read about it here

IMPORTANT: NBA DFS is completely different than any other sport. Players get ruled out five minutes before games and you HAVE TO BE READY to pivot. I will update this article as close to lineup lock as possible with any big news, but play it safe and stay on top of the news yourself.

I refer to FanDuel pricing today.

1/4 NBA DFS Point Guard

  1. Luka Doncic ($10,900 FD) Always a triple double threat. He is the most elite point guard on the board. He has at home game against the Jordan owned Charolette Hornets, who just signed Luka to a multi year shoe deal (fun fact). I expect the Mavs to win somewhat easily but this does feel like a spot where Luke can get close to 60. This would not be 6x his price, but if we can find other value guys that exceed 6x then it makes sense to play the most likely highest scoring point guard.
  2. Derrick White ($4,600 FD) He is starting today with Murray already ruled out. I like him a lot going against Eric Bledsoe. Great value saver today.
  3. TJ McConnell ($4,300 FD) With Brogdon out TJ will be looking at another 25 minutes at least. He regularly hits value, and may have a chance for extended run if (when) the Pacers start blowing out the Hawks, who will be missing both John Collins and Jabari Parker.
  4. Aaron Holiday ($4,700 FD) He is in the same boat as TJ above and is starting. If you have the extra $400 to spend you should take the starting guy in Holiday. I feel very safe with both.

Gut Play: Trae Young. The Vegas line is oddly low, and the game total is high. It is all Trae if this game stays truly close.

Punt: Patty Mills

1/4 NBA DFS Shooting Guard

  1. Marcus Smart ($5,000 FD) Against Chicago, with no Kemba. Lock. He should be highly owned, but that’s ok. People that fade him are not going to have a good night.
  2. Jordan McCrae ($5,700 FD) Only if Beal out. Price is still too low.
  3. Shai Gilgeous-Alexander ($7,800 FD) Just look at what he has been doing lately. He is getting well over 30 minutes a game and has exceeded 40 FD points the last three games against tougher opponents than who he gets tonight in the Cleveland Cavilers.

1/4 Small Forward

  1. Giannis Antentokounmpo: He is priced high today, but that’s because he has the highest ceiling on the board (slightly ahead of Luka). There are enough cheap guys today to fit both ABC and Luka.
  2. TJ Warren ($5,300 FD) The absence of Brogdon helps him out as well as the point guards. He is in a great spot against the Hawks. Need it to stay close for him to go nuclear, but at $5,300, you don’t necessarily need him putting up 50 NBS DFS points. 35 will get the job done.
  3. Jaylen Brown ($7,400 FD) No Kemba again today. Quality play, but salary is getting close to too much. I feel fine with Gordon Hayward again today as well for the same reasons as Brown. I expect Brown to get slightly more time today though.
  4. Alec Burks ($6,000 FD) Boy, he let us down last game. He could not stay out of foul trouble which caused him to hit the bench early and often. Let’s not forget how much we loved him just one game before when he dropped 44 FD points. Regardless if he left you with a mental scar last game he is still in a good spot against Detroit today with D. Russ still listed as out. I have zero problems with going back to him today.

Fade and Pray: DeAndre Hunter ($4,300 FD) He may be playing PF tonight with the Hawks missing Collins and Parker but he is still a very raw rookie. He gets a vert difficult match against Sabonis and Turner. I’m out.

1/4 NBA DFS Power Forward

  1. Jayson Tatum ($8,100 FD) No Kemba and a great match against the Bulls. He let people down last night but he seldom puts up two duds in a row. I like him, at lower ownership than he should be tonight.
  2. Maxi Kleber ($5,300 FD) Porzingis is out. Kleber gets a bump in usage and time against the Hornets who are not good in the paint. Like him a lot.
  3. Daniel Theis ($4,300 FD) He becomes an even better play against the Bulls if Kanter is out. Again, you have to watch the news or get in our Discord channel for updates. I will do my best to update here when news drops.
  4. Marquese Chriss ($4,400 FD) He will get another spot start ONLY if Willie Cauley-Stein misses again tonight. He is questionable now. Watch the news
  5. Christian Wood ($4,100 FD) He is just ok. I am writing him up because Blake is out and a lot of people are going to ask about him. Even in the absence of Blake he does not start and only gets mid 20’s minutes. Golden State is not a cake matchup either. If you love your lineup and have only $4,100 left at PF, he is fine, I guess. Just don’t let him be the first player you start your lineup with.

Note: Domantas Sabonis ($8,300 FD) He is in an elite spot tonight. Play him if you think the game will be close enough to get him to 30 minutes. I am not sure that will be the case. If Sabonis is in that long, Trae Young will be too. Not a bad idea to put them on the same team and hope it stays competitive.

12/28 DFS Center

  1. Andre Drummond ($9,700 FD) The trade rumors are real with Drummond. He finds himself in a decent spot tonight against he Warriors. Does he show out because he know he has a chance to get out of Detroit? I think so. Sometimes he drops a dud on us, but I don’t think that is tonight. Fingers crossed a trade doesn’t go down after lock.
  2. Nikola Jokic ($8,900 FD) Whiteside destroyed Washington last night. Now it’s Jokic’s turn. If Beal plays I think this helps Jokic’s minutes because the game should be closer
  3. Alex Len ($4,400 FD) Atlanta is missing their two best power forwards. Len should hit value easily tonight. Great salary saver.
  4. Dwight Powell ($5,100 FD) No Kristaps helps him. He can get to 30 NBS DFS points agains the Hornets.
