Week 9 NFL DFS Sunday Night Showdown Preview with DFS Pro David Jones

Week 9 in the NFL is all about finding the best opportunities for guaranteed production with high upside. Follow my stud and value plays and lock in the NFL DFS Picks of Destiny.

David Jones took down the Week 8 Monday Night Showdown which is the fourth time he has won it the past five contests.

I want to start off this article by saying you must have the absolute nuts to win the top prize up top on large field GPPs. There is no room for mistakes with so many entries in these contests. If you think you are going to win it all by playing a combo of the top seven guys in the player pool, you are not. If a combo of a bunch of guys you have heard of before is indeed the best scoring lineup, you will most likely tie for first. If that sounds good to you, then go for it. It will be profitable if you nail it, but for me I like to be a little different on these slates. I will be making multiple teams and taking long shots on a few cheap guys.

Leaving cash on the table in these NFL DFS contests is fine too. This makes your lineup even more unique and lower owned because a lot of amateurs will be pulling their hair out to use their entire salary.

That all being said, I have looked at every possible player that can get on the field and listed my picks below.

The NFL DFS Week 9 Sunday Night Showdown Picks

I have won four of the last six NFL Showdowns by using different combinations of picks out of this article. Let’s make it five out of seven!

The best spot to attack in this game is the Baltimore pass defense. I know the weather isn’t ideal (winds around 10 MPH with up to 25/30 MPH gusts) but Tom Brady plays in Boston and this is nothing to him. I also know that I can not trust the Patriots running backs from years of experience. I am going to focus on the Pats pass game mostly, then hedge my bets with a few Sony Michel/Rex Burkhead MVP shares.

MVP: Tom Brady ($16,500 FD)

The GOAT is the most likely player the score the highest in this game. The Ravens DB’s are better to target than the rush defense. They should try and exploit the Baltimore corners and safety’s first, and if that does not work they will pivot to the run game.

MVP Pivot: Julian Edelman ($14,000 FD)

If I like Brady, I like his number one receiver.

MVP Pivot: Phillip Dorsett ($9,000 FD)

If Edelman is not the top scoring receiver, it should be Dorsett.

Note: Sony Michel is going to be a popular MVP. I get it, but I am trying to be a bit different than Tom Brady faders. I will take few shares of the Pats running backs at MVP, but will be overweight on the receiving game.

Flex Options:

Listed in order of preference, with price factored in.

I did my research on FanDuel today.

Flex:

  1. Julian Edelman ($14,000 FD)
  2. Sony Michel ($13,000 FD) Lead back for Pats, lower floor than I like but high upside
  3. Phillip Dorsett ($9,000 FD) I wouldn’t play both wide receivers on the Pats without Brady
  4. Patriots Defense (on DraftKings)
  5. Lamar Jackson ($16,000 FD) The Patriots know all they have to do is cut the head off the snake. Their entire focus will be on stopping him.
  6. Mark Andrews ($10,500 FD) I am counting on him to continue to be the same player we have seen all season. Give me seven targets, five receptions around 50 yards and hopefully pull one down in the red zone.
  7. Mark Ingram ($12,000 FD) Ravens lead back, Should get around 15 touches. He will need to get in the end zone to payoff.
  8. Marquis Brown ($8,500 FD) HE IS QUESTIONABLE, but if he plays he is the top receiving threat for the Ravens. I wouldn’t play him on a large slate, but that’s not what we are doing tonight.
  9. Mohamed Sanu ($7,500 FD) Mr. Reliable is now starting for the Patriots. I don’t think I want more than two wide receivers for New England. I have no problem with Sanu at $7,500 FD
  10. Jakobi Meyers ($6,500 FD) DO NOT PLAY WITH SANU. He is the WR four and will be Sanu’s backup. Knowing how to not roster players who cut into each others production is a defining factor in showdown slates.
  11. Nick Folk ($9,000 FD) I think the Pats win this game, which means they score more, which means Folk will have several opportunities to score.
  12. Brandon Bolden ($6,000 FD) If James White is out, Bolden will get more run
  13. Ryan Izzo ($6,500 FD) Pats TE, QUESTIONABLE NOW. If he plays I like pairing him with Brady. Punt territory.
  14. Willie Snead ($5,500 FD) I actually like the price a lot, especially if Brown is out. He could be in line for season high targets.
  15. Justin Tucker ($10,000 FD) Ravens Kicker
  16. Rex Burkhead ($5,500 FD) If the Pats are wining he gets to run in the fourth quarter.
  17. Miles Boykin ($7,000 FD) Big bump up if Brown is out, however he is not a true WR1.
  18. James White ($9,500 FD) QUESTIONABLE. He keeps burning me. Throw him in a few I guess..

Punts Listed in order

  1. Gus Edwards ($6,000 FD) Ravens RB2. If Ingram can’t get going he will get a shot Either way he should get around six touches and one target through the air, if we are lucky. Punt.
  2. Ben Watson ($6,500 FD) Like him a lot more if Izzo is out.
  3. Seth Roberts ($5,500 FD) Ravens punt receiver

Target the Ravens pass D here. Brady should be in for a good game as mentioned above. 279 is a lot, but I’m going for it. On the other side the prop is just too low at 200 for Lamar Jackson. If he does not play like absolute garbage he should be able to achieve that.
