A big part of my life is my three kids. Each one of them holds a different attribute that I would personally use to aid me in deciding what picks to make. My twins Pork and Ribs and their little brother Bean (not their real names but very appropriate nicknames).
Pork is a doer. He is one to dive into a situation and figure it out as it unfolds, usually with great success. In terms of the puck pick, it will be a gut feeling pick and be backed with some stats to explain the feeling.
Ribs, he likes to observe the situation, take in all the information, and then make an educated decision on what his next step will be. His puck pick will be focused around teams that are on hot streaks, either against a team in a matchup or on a winning streak.
Now Bean may sound cute and innocent, but he is a wild man. Not a lot of thought goes into actions and if there is some thought, its geared towards “how can I push Dad’s buttons”. His puck pick will be a little more on the risky side. There will be reasons why I think we should go this way.
As cook by trade and hockey as a passion since I was 3 years old, let’s get some puck picks in the oven and make some dough shall we?

Puck Recap: Sunday night (4-1)
We nailed all of the four article puck picks with Dallas, Calgary, Sy. Louis and New York Islanders. The live bet on the Winnipeg Jets after the first period was the lone loss on the night. Let’s get into a slow puck night on the ice.
The Puck Pick- Columbus Blue Jackets -190
With only a one-game slate we are going to take the easy money line here. It appears as though the Blue Jackets will have their number one puck stopper back on Joonas Korpisalo back on time for this contest. Ottawa has only won six games on the road this season. This battle comes down to defense where the Blue Jackets rank second in the league in goals-against vs Ottawa in the twenty-eighth spot. Columbus has struggled to set the goal cannon sitting in twenty sevenths in the league compared to Ottawa who is actually one spot better in twenty-sixth. Tonight is the night Columbus ends their eight-game skid in a tight-checking defensive Battle.
Puck news and notes around the NHL;
This is something I want to start doing more consistently in these articles to start getting ready for the playoffs and potential mismatches baling the way, as well as stay up to date on some important goings-on around the league. Tomorrow is a trade deadline day. One of my favorite days of the season. I feel bad for the players having to up and move their lives, but the potential impact they can make to their new team down the stretch and going into the playoffs is very exciting. Here are some moves that happened tonight
Tampa Bay signs free agent defenseman Zach Bogosian
You can never have enough quality d-men coming down the stretch in case of injury or poor play. And the Lightning didn’t give anything up in return.
Washington traded a third-round draft pick for Illya Kovalchuk
Penalty kills every should be scares of two guys that can blast the puck like Alex Ovechkin and Illya Kovalchuk.
Detroit trade Mike Green to Edmonton for Kyle Brodziak and a conditional draft pick in either 2020 or 2021.
Mike Green still has some left in the tank. His experience in the NHL and the playoffs could be a great asset for this young Oilers team. It might be an upgrade on an already deadly powerplay unit as well.
NHL Update
The NHL Playoff picture is beginning to take shape. With about 70% of the season behind us here are your division leaders and their respective Stanley Cup Odds. The Capitals have maintained their points lead over the surging Penguins, while the Lightning has won 8 in a row in an attempt to catch the Bruins. All 4 teams see their odds stay about the same to win the Stanley Cup, while the entire Pacific Division attempts to sort out who will represent them in the playoffs and who will settle for a Wildcard spot.

Before the first puck of the season dropped for the 2019-2020 NHL season we offered Over/Under Point Totals for each team. The Islanders and Blue Jackets are on their way to hitting the over while the Devils and Red Wings are running out of gas to get them over the finish line.
