NFL Value Plays Thanksgiving Edition:
Everyone ready to get fat and happy this Thanksgiving? Already halfway there, just need to get a little green in my account so I can go blow it on Black Friday for the family. Speaking of Black Friday, Win Daily Sports has their biggest sale ever with everything in the site 50% off. Just follow the link below for more information. Enough chit chat, let take a look at Win Daily Sports Turkey Day, Value Plays 11.26
Nothing like a good holiday slate to get the blood flowing. DFS sites often soften their pricing on these one-off small slates and Thanksgiving is no different. They love the opportunity to bring new casual players into the mix and I love too as it gives people like us a slightly bigger edge playing against people who don’t fully understand the little nuances that makes you a winning DFS player. My goal for this article is to find all of us a handful of low priced gems that can give us an edge against our competition. Some of them will be pretty obvious given the Covid news and some will be lower owned plays that will probably go overlooked by the large part of the community. I have a couple of guys who are dependent on injury so be mindful of start/sit news prior to kickoff.
James Washington, Steelers (WR): $3,000 (DK)/$5,000 (FD)
This play is dependent upon Juju Smith-Shuster either being heavily limited or out so watch for news on that, I’ll try to update if I hear anything. Washington has been eclipsed by Chase Claypool in short order but he’s still a decent wide receiver. His volume isn’t what we were hoping early in the year but in four starts he’s caught three touchdowns on nine grabs this year. If he can get you 12 points at 3K on DraftKings at sub 10% ownership on a 3-game slate you’ll take it all day. Juju was a limited participant in practice today so it looks to be a true game time decision right now.
Gus Edwards, Ravens (RB): $4,000(DK)/$5,200(FD) (Cash)
I’m not going to spend much time here. Raven have Gus Edwards and Justice Hill as the only running backs due to Mark Ingram and JK Dobbins testing positive for Covid. It’s a tough matchup on paper but the Steelers have quietly given up at least 139 rushing yards in three of their last four games including 265 yards to the Ravens in week eight. Gus needs to be in all of your cash lines. Ravens backs will likely be in 100% of my lineups but if Cameron Hayward (limited practice, ankle) ends up not being able to go it only raises there value for those consider playing someone else.
Justice Hill, Ravens (RB): $4,000(DK)/$4,500 (FD) (GPP)
Same narrative but I think hill has more upside, especially in a PPR format. Gus is your north south runner but Hill is dynamic in the passing game and at this point it looks like you’re going to get him at a fraction of the ownership. I won’t completely avoid Edwards in GPP’s but I will be underweight on the field and overweight on Hill.
Jordan Aikens, Texans (TE): $2,900(DK)/$5,200(FD)
They fixed his pricing a bit on FanDuel but he is criminally underpriced on DraftKings. With the absence of Randall Cobb and Kenny still and the emergence of the Texans offense under new leadership Aikens should be heavily utilized against a poor Lions defense who can’t slow, much less stop anyone with his physical talents. He’s going to he chalk on DK but I’m going to eat it at sub-3k and get different elsewhere. If you want to fade the chalk you can opt for Pharaoh Brown or Darren Fells who both have seen between 30-60% snap share in each of the last three weeks.
Also Consider: Keke Coutee, Dez Bryant, Willie Snead
Deep Play (Only use in deep field GPP’s and only if Swift sits)
Kerryon Johnson, Lions (RB): $4,300(DK)/$4,900(FD)
If the expectation is the Lions are playing from behind and the ageless wonder Adrian Peterson spends his day on the sidelines Kerryon Johnson needs to be in consideration. He’s been buried on the depth chart and the activation of Jonathan Williams is a little worrisome but not only was Kerryon on the field for 70% of the offensive snaps he saw five targets and carried the ball 6 times. If they get behind again which is likely I can see anywhere from 12-15 total touches and before got injured in 2019 and buried he was being considered as the Lion’s franchise RB and in his rookie year had 118 carries for 641 yards on 5.3 yards per carry, 32 catches on 39 targets for 213 yards and four total touchdowns. I hope they don’t name him the starter because I may be off of him if he becomes chalk but I LOOOOOOVE him as a GPP option at single digit ownership if Adrian Peterson gets the start or even Jonathan Williams.
