We saw some solid performances in Week 15 for the tight end position. Playoff implications keep becoming more and more urgent, and we are here to take advantage! We have a big game Thursday night, as well as slates on both Saturday and Sunday! I’ll highlight a few plays from both Saturday and Sunday so we can cash in all weekend! Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays, whichever is more your thing. Hope the holiday season is treating you all well! Let’s roll.
Travis Kelce, Chiefs ($8,000 DraftKings, $8,600 FanDuel)
The best tight end in the game now draws one of the best matchups. This is a match made in heaven for Kelce and Mahomes. I’ve been hesitant to pay up at tight end much of the year, but this could be the time to lock in Kelce. Seattle still allows the second-most fantasy points per game to opposing TE…and Kelce scores the first-most (get it?).
He is fresh off a brutal beating of the Texans, where he hauled in all 10 targets for 105 yards. The rest of the team didn’t exactly do their part, but that doesn’t matter here. Kansas City is battling down to the wire for the #1 seed in the AFC with Buffalo and Cincinnati. The defense continues to struggle, which had led to even more opportunities for the offense to produce. I don’t need to tell you more about how elite Kelce is. This one has the makings of a shootout, and Kelce’s ceiling is enormous here.
George Kittle, 49ers ($5,300 DraftKings, $7,000 FanDuel)
Following his best performance of the season last week, I’m back in on Kittle. He is facing a Commanders defense that has been a solid unit this season. Chase Young is expected to return for this one. There is plenty to not like about parts of this matchup.
I’m expecting Brock Purdy to be focusing on building a rhythm in the short passing game. That success starts with Kittle. Washington has absolutely dominated opposing passing attacks over the last month or so, but that doesn’t scare me off of Kittle. I expect him to be targeted early and often, especially with Deebo Samuel still on the shelf.
Cole Kmet, Bears ($4,400 DraftKings, $5,100 FanDuel)
Here’s a crazy stat for you. The Buffalo Bills are the ONLY team in the NFL who hasn’t allowed a TD to a TE this season. So why Kmet? Well first off, this game has a huge spread of 8.5 points in favor of Buffalo. Justin Fields will likely be playing from behind, and that is a HUGE boost to Kmet.
Von Miller is out for the season, and Fields is looking to end 2022 by cementing himself as the future of the Bears. He has built a great rapport with Kmet, and his WR play has been inconsistent at best.
Give me some Kmet at low ownership…and let’s see him find his way into the end zone to break the Bills’ streak.
Juwan Johnson, Saints ($3,800 DraftKings, $5,900 FanDuel)
Another guy coming off a monster performance is Johnson. He missed a few games with an ankle injury, but if we exclude the 49ers game donut…he has been elite.
He has totaled 22.7, 13.7, 15.4, 12.2, 3.4, and 20.2 in his six other games in that span. Andy Dalton has been relying on him in a big way in this passing game. The Browns have been top-10 against opposing TE (fantasy points allowed) this season. Volume. Is. King. I expect Johnson to see at least 5 targets here, and if the Browns build a lead? He could see even more. Fire him up for cheap.
Chig Onkonkwo, Titans ($3,300 DraftKings, $5,400 FanDuel)
A WinDaily favorite, Chig has been a solid option of late for the slumping Titans. Some may be scared off of him with Ryan Tannehill now OUT for the season, but not me. Malik Willis hasn’t shown any ability to make plays down the field, but he doesn’t have to for Chig to hit value.
He caught a 48-yard pass from Willis in his first start, and now has double-digit points in three straight games. Willis and the Titans will have to make some plays in the passing game, and Chig is the easy option to bank on for cheap. Houston got dominated by Travis Kelce last week, and although Chig is no Kelce…he is a huge, strong target. He is a fine option this week.
