The CJ Cup Final Ownership Projections
I will be getting to my CJ Cup Final Ownership Projections, but first, let me tell you how I won a few dollars last weekend!
Last week I put a $5.00 team in the DraftKings 125K Drive to the Green contest and walked away with 2nd place and $10,000. I’ll tell you how, but first, a message from Footjoy golf shoes! (just kidding) I’ve known the formula for the Milly Maker that has been time tested and works every time, as long as you pick the right golfers. With the DK tourneys that are smaller than 1 million, the last 5 have been won by teams with 3 golfers averaging 15% ownership, not two like the Milly Maker. The winner had three golfers right at 16% ownership, and the total team ownership % was 12.7%. I had 3 golfers at approx. 11% ownership and my total team % was right under 12%
Example:
Wolf 25% Owned
Bryson D. 25%
Zalatoris 10%
Poston 4%
Laird 3%
Suh 4%
Total Ownership % 25% (wolf) + 25% (Bryson) +10% (zalatoris) +4% (Poston) +3% Laird)+4% (Suh) = 71% total. Divide by 6 golfers, you get 12%.
I have three golfers that average 15% or lower ( Poston, Laird, Suh ) and my teams total ownership is right at 12%. This is the sixth tourney under one million where these numbers came in, again, picking the right golfer is key, but this let’s you see how ownership is crucial to constructing a team and roster building, with that, let’s look at the projections for the CJ Cup at the Bridge, AKA the CJ Cup at Shadow Creek.
Final Ownership Projections:
Our top owned golfer this week is Justin Thomas at a healthy 24.7 %, it looks like he got a lot of the DJ owners after DJ withdrew with Covid. John Rahm comes in 2nd at 21.4%, and very close behind is Daniel Berger at 20.9%. Xander Schauffele is 20.4%, Collin Morikawa is next at 19.7%, he heard Patrick “Sharps” Scott won a trip to Vegas, not sure if the extra 5 bodyguards he hired is related, Matthew Wolff is next at 19.1%, he is a beast right now, myself and other writers recommend him this week. Joaquin Niemann is 18.9 %, Rory comes in at 18.3%, Abraham Ancer is 16.5%, Patrick Cantlay is 15.4%, Sungjae IM is 14.4%, Scottie Scheffler is 14.3%, Victor Hovland, one of Sia’s favorites this week is 13.7%, Hideki Matsuyama is 12.8%, Bubba Watson, who I’m backing this week is 12.6%. Harris English is 11.8% and a favorite of Joel’s. Louis Oosthuizen is 11.5%, Russell Henley is 11.4%, Gary Woodland is 11.2%, Paul Casey is 11%, Tyrell Hatton is 10.9%, Mackenzie Hughes, Corey Conners, Billy Horschel and Sergio Garcia are all 9.7%, Jason Kokrak is 9.3%, Si Woo Kim and Tommy Fleetwood are 9.1%, Cameron Champ is 8.5%, Matthew Fitzpatrick is 8%, Brian Harmon is 7.8%, Brendan Steele and Brooks Koepka are 7.7%, Koepka had plasma injections into a tendon and knee, beware the injured golfer ( that can go both ways) Ian Poulter and Sebastian Munoz are 7.6%, Justin Rose is 7.5%, as low owned and low priced as you will see, Cameron Smith and Ryan Palmer are 6.9%, Brendan Todd is 6.8%, I like him, Rickie Fowler and Matt Kuchar are 6.4%, Kevin Na and Alex Noren are 6.3%, Kevin Kisner is 6%, Shane Lowry is 5.9%, Jason Day is 5.8%, B. An is 5.7%, Lanto Griffin is 5.5%, Kevin Streelman is is 5.3%.
Golfers under 5% ownership :
Adam Long is 4.7%, Keegan Bradley, Tom Hoge and Joel Dahmen are 4.5%, Jordan Spieth is only 4.1% owned, that’s crazy, almost. Adam Hadwin is 3.7%, Dylan Frittelli is 3.3%, Marc Leishman and Talor Gooch are. 2.7%, Harry Higgs is 2.5%, Danny Lee is 2.1%, Richy Werenski is 2% owned.
The following golfers are under 2% owned:
Mark Hubbard, J.T. Poston, and Nick Taylor are 1.9%, J. Kim is 1.8%, Carlos Ortiz and Andrew Landry are 1.4%, K.H.Lee is 1.3%, Michael Thompson, Jim Herman,Sung Kangaroo and Jeongwoo Ham are all at 1% ownership.
All other golfers Cary less than 1% ownership at the time of this report.
Picks for The CJ Cup at Shadow Creek
At the top there is a 35% chance that Jon Rahm makes the top lineup, not only that, Rahm, McILroy, and JT have a 92% chance that one of the three will be in the optimal top lineup so please cover one of these 3 in your lineups.
I like Tyrell Hatton, the only caveat is that he won the European last week and got in a plane and flew halfway around the globe to get here, his metrics are impeccable, be wary of jet lag setting in at tee time Thursday.
I’m going with Bubba Watson and Billie Horschel this week, Horschel is trending up in my model, Bubba has the perfect course for his swing, it’s right in his wheelhouse and he should do well, just remember, he’s Bubba.
My out in Left field play this week is J. Lee, who has gone 8th, 2nd, and 2nd on the Asian tour in his last three, and his DK bio says 0-0-0, which I love, his ownership is in the nano plateau, which is na, no ones on him.
