As the slate features all-game sixes, we may have some eliminations on tap. Let’s dig into the 5/12 NHL slate below.

5/12 NHL Main Slate of Games – Beginning 7 p.m. ET

Carolina Hurricanes (+110) at Boston Bruins (-130) – 6 Projected Goal Total

Toronto Maple Leafs (+115) at Tampa Bay Lightning (-135) – 6.5 Projected Goal Total

Minnesota Wild (-110) at St. Louis Blues (-110) – 6.5 Projected Goal Total

Edmonton Oilers (-140) at L.A. Kings (+120) – 6.5 Projected Goal Total

5/12 NHL Favorite Lines Per Dollar

Top Line – Tampa Bay One ” Ondrej Palat ($3,200), Steven Stamkos ($6,700), Nikita Kucherov ($7,400)

This might be a little bit of a gut call. That said no particular line is jumping out statistically tonight. Therefore, let’s side with Tampa Bay keeping the series alive. Given their experience, it would be surprising to see them go out like chumps. It is nice having both Stamkos and Kucherov on the same line. If you wanted to go all out, you could add Victor Hedman but I think that would be prohibitive with salary. As is, the pricing on the main trio is very friendly all things considered.

Secondary Line – Edmonton One “Connor McDavid ($8,700), Evander Kane ($6,900), Kailer Yamamoto ($3,400)”

They disappointed last time out, but let’s try again with this super talented unit. The peripheral stats suggest that they are due for positive regression. I think that this could be that monster spot where they help take down a tournament. The addition of Kailer Yamamoto back to this line as the third man in is a huge boost!

Top Defender

Tyson Barrie – Edmonton – $4,300 – I had written him up previously due to his role on the top power-play unit. However, now he should see another bump in ice time and role with Darnell Nurse suspended for one game. Evan Bouchard should also be a beneficiary of Nurse’s absence. In the alternate, if punting all the way down, Hampus Lindholm is returning for Boston for only $2,900. He does not have a lot of upside but a floor for the punt price.

Top Goalie

Jonathan Quick – Los Angeles – $7,400 – For the price, with the Kings a +120 dog so fairly close, Quick offers us the most value of all of the goaltenders. If you’re ballsy and fading Tampa, Jack Campbell is certainly also in play.

5/12 NHL Best Bet

Edmonton Oilers/Los Angeles Kings – Under 6.5 (-115) – 1 Unit – Bet MGM – Let’s give this another shot.

With all of tonight’s games featured series tied 2-2, things should be tight. More on the 5/10 NHL slate below.

5/10 NHL Main Slate of Games – Beginning 7 p.m. ET

Boston Bruins (+125) at Carolina Hurricanes (-145) – 5.5 Projected Goal Total

Tampa Bay Lightning (+100) at Toronto Maple Leafs (-120) – 6.5 Projected Goal Total

St. Louis Blues (+125) at Minnesota Wild (-145) – 6.5 Projected Goal Total

Los Angeles Kings (+190) at Edmonton Oilers (-225) – 6.5 Projected Goal Total

5/10 NHL Favorite Lines Per Dollar

Top Line – Minnesota One ” Kirill Kaprizov ($8,000), Ryan Hartman ($5,000), Mats Zuccarello ($4,900)

This line features two skaters on the Wild top power-play unit; their young star in Kirill Kaprizov, in addition to Mats Zuccarello. Minnesota definitely has a lot of balance between its lines, even displaying a very strong third line. However, we have to single one out. I think that their ownership will come in a bit lighter than most other lines featured in the three 6.5 total games. On a small four-game slate that could be the sort of pivot that helps us take down a tournament.

Secondary Line – Edmonton One “Connor McDavid ($8,800), Evander Kane ($6,700), Jesse Puljujarvi ($3,500)”

As compared to Minnesota One above, this line should get plenty of ownership. However, their strong peripheral stats remain, and the Oilers host the Kings as -225 money line favorites in one of the other 6.5 total games. That makes for a perfect combination. Consider that the other top options involve the Maple Leafs up against Vasilevksiy and a defensively stingy Tampa Bay Lightning team and a 5.5 total probable defensive battle.

Top Defender

Tyson Barrie – Edmonton – $4,100 – Defense is a bit rough on this slate. Barrie is fairly cheap at just over $4,100 on DraftKings and has some upside. He makes for a great correlation play with Edmonton One listed above with his role as quarterback of the power-play unit.

Top Goalie

Mike Smith – Edmonton – $8,500 – I never thought I’d be writing up Mike Smith in this spot. Yet here we are as he has turned his game up in the Spring quite a few notches. Given that Edmonton is a -225 favorite and Smith will have the home crowd at his back, it’s as good a spot as you can get in the playoffs At least, per the odds, there should be less uncertainty here than with some of the other games which are projected much closer.

5/10 NHL Best Bet

Edmonton Oilers/Los Angeles Kings – Under 6.5 (-115) – 1 Unit – Bet MGM – Given Mike Smith’s form mentioned above, as well as the Kings’ defensive style, and I think we take the Under at the 6.5. I wouldn’t take it at 6 or below.

Welcome back as we get ready for a trio of Game Three’s for our Saturday 5/7 NHL playoff slate. We have every game on the slate except for the early game, Florida vs. Washington.

5/7 NHL Main Slate of Games – Beginning 4:30 p.m. ET

New York Rangers (-120) at Pittsburgh Penguins (+100) – 6 Projected Goal Total

Colorado Avalanche (-245) at Nashville Predators (+195) – 6.5 Projected Goal Total

Calgary Flames (-155) at Dallas Stars (+135) – 5.5 Projected Goal Total

5/7 NHL Favorite Lines Per Dollar

Top Line – Colorado One ” Nathan MacKinnon ($9,200), Mikko Rantanen ($7,300), Valeri Nichuskin ($4,900)

At this point, they are the de facto line for this batch of playoff matchups. Jusse Saros looks like he still won’t return. That said Connor Ingram was solid in his last start for Nashville, despite an Avalanche barrage. Either way, this line is a force of nature. So far Cale Makar has been on fire to open to the playoffs. You can always try to add him on and leave someone else off, etc, if you want to try to be creative. As has been the case you can also look to pivot to the Colorado second line.

Secondary Line – New York Rangers “Ryan Strome ($3,900), Artemi Panarin ($5,300), Andrew Copp ($4,800)”

I think the Rangers will find a way to win this serious. So far Pittsburgh backup goaltender Louis Dominigue, since being forced into play, has not had one of those trademark non-competitive starts where he completely gets blown up. Perhaps tonight is that night. Andrew Copp has been nothing less than a godsend since his acquisition for the Rangers. He is the only skater on this line not featured on the top power-play line. Panarin’s price in particular seems way too cheap but that can be said for this entire line.

Top Defender

Devon Toews – Colorado – $4,900 – He keeps putting up big shots so no backing away from Devon Toews now. He does correlate with the first line and gets some correlation across other lines with his role on the second power-play unit. The bottom line is you want as much Colorado exposure as possible.

Top Goalie

Igor Shesterkin – New York Rangers – $8,500 – He is just on another level right now. In cash games, you definitely play him, he is the chalk. I think on that basis, of course, you could always argue for the fade. However, he is the best raw goalie play on the slate.

5/7 NHL Best Bet

Colorado Avalanche 60 Min ML (-140) – 1 Unit – DraftKings – It was a spirited effort last time out by Connor Ingram. Nevertheless, I think we try to buy low on the Avalanche here.

It’s the fourth night of the NHL playoffs and we have a bunch of series Game Two’s on tap. Below we have all the odds, some featured lines, players by position, and a featured bet for the 5/5 NHL slate.

5/5 NHL Main Slate of Games – Beginning 7 p.m. ET

Pittsburgh Penguins (+120) at New York Rangers (-145) – 5.5 Projected Goal Total

Washington Capitals (+195) at Florida Panthers (-235) – 6.5 Projected Goal Total

Nashville Predators (+295) at Colorado Avalanche (-390) – 6.5 Projected Goal Total

Dallas Stars (+190) at Calgary Flames (-240) – 5.5 Projected Goal Total

5/5 NHL Favorite Lines Per Dollar

Top Line – Florida Two ” Jonathan Huberdeau ($7,100), Sam Bennett ($4,400), Claude Giroux ($4,600)

The Panthers came out and laid a bit of a dud against Washington in Game One. However, this line scored both Panther goals “Bennett and Giroux”. With price considered, I think we take a shot on Florida Two again. It’s just a decision whether to roll the full line or leave out Huberdeau in order to save salary and create a more unique lineup.

Secondary Line – Colorado One “Nathan MacKinnon ($8,900), Mikko Rantanen ($7,000), Valeri Nichuskin ($4,700)”

Nashville starting goalie Jusse Saros remains out for Game Two. The Avs absolutely lit up the Predators the first time out and they will be the chalk of the night. I think you can get creative and play just one or two with a defenseman and go that route. You can also go all in with a Colorado super stack or pivot to the second line. Either way, in cash you want all the Avalanche exposure you can get and in tournaments even with high ownership, we’ve seen the upside.

Top Defender

Devon Toews – Colorado – $4,900 – Last time out I featured Noah Hanifin who is still a fine pick but he did get a price bump to $4,700. For $200 more I think we roll with Toews for some additional Colorado exposure. While Cale Makar has the much higher floor/ceiling, we’d be paying $3,000 more after the big game. As they in the stock world, buy the rumor, sell the news.

Top Goalie

Igor Shesterkin – New York Rangers – $8,500 – With another pivot from a Calgary player, now we’re switching in net as well from Jakob Markstrom. Between Pittsburgh’s shot volume and Shesterkin’s abilities, it gives us some exposure to this game. He is coming off a 79…..yes 79 save game Tuesday night. He has had a night to rest in between and we can only hope he looks as sharp tonight.

5/5 NHL Best Bet

Florida Panthers 60 Min ML (-145) – 1 Unit – DraftKings – Let’s try this one more time. It’s really a must win for Florida tonight at home as they look to avoid going down 2-0.

It’s playoff time! We have you covered for tonight’s four-game 5/3 NHL slate below.

5/3 NHL Main Slate of Games – Beginning 7 p.m. ET

Pittsburgh Penguins (+110) at New York Rangers (-125) – 5.5 Projected Goal Total

Washington Capitals (+185) at Florida Panthers (-230) – 6.5 Projected Goal Total

Nashville Predators (+255) at Colorado Avalanche (-320) – 6.5 Projected Goal Total

Dallas Stars (+180) at Calgary Flames (-225) – 6 Projected Goal Total

5/3 NHL Favorite Lines Per Dollar

Top Line – Florida Two ” Jonathan Huberdeau ($7,400), Sam Bennett ($4,200), Claude Giroux ($4,100)

Surprisingly, none of the Panthers’ individual lines have been very statistically strong over the last two weeks. However, they draw the best matchup of any Eastern Conference teams, hosting the Capitals as -230 money line favorites tonight. This line features two skaters on the top power-play unit in Jonathan Huberdeau and Claude Giroux as opposed to the other two lines. They are also affordable, particularly when compared with more popular lines such as Colorado One and Calgary One. The Panthers have been amazing all season and I think they carry that over into the playoffs with a strong performance. Giroux in particular is way underpriced with six points in his last three games for only just over four thousand.

Secondary Line – Colorado One “Nathan MacKinnon ($8,600), Mikko Rantanen ($6,400), Valeri Nichuskin ($4,500)”

As of the time of writing, Nashville starting goalie Jusse Saros has been ruled out for both games one and two. While this line underwhelming by its standards for most of the season, the playoffs are the start of a new season. This matchup in Denver went down about a week ago and Nashville was able to push for an overtime victory. For that one, the Avs were around -215 favorites so quite a jump here to -320 but the assumption is they are healthier now “Mikko Rantanen had been day to day for that one” and likely more motivated. It seems as of the time of writing that Valeri Nichuskin will remain on the top line, providing us with some much-needed savings. You can fit

Top Defender

Noah Hanifan – Calgary – $4,300 – On a slate where we are absolutely desperate for salary, most defenseman quarterbacking power-play units are high-priced. Particularly, those playing for favorites. One notable exception is Noah Hanifan who has recently emerged as such for the Flames. Calgary of course are hefty -225 favorites hosting the Stars “more on that game below”. Since we don’t have any other exposure there, this gives us a nice hedge that helps make other pieces of the puzzle fit. It was only a matter of time Rasmus Andersson was going to get replaced as his production would need to be better in this type of role.

Top Goalie

Jacob Markstrom – Calgary – $8,100 – With Shesterkin sort of up and down, let’s turn to Jacob Markstrom against a Dallas team that generally wins close games with defense. He has been terrific all season with a 2.22 GAA and .922 save percentage. He’s backed by a great defense as the Flames will look to turn their recent reputation around this post-season.

5/3 NHL Best Bet

Florida Panthers 60 Min ML (-130) – 1 Unit – DraftKings – The Panthers have been great all season. Now is the time to translate their outstanding record into playoff success. Alex Ovechkin looks to be returning as of the time of writing but his return might not be enough for the Capitals here. Washington had ended the season on a poor note, dropping four straight.

On this, the final day of the NHL regular season, we are blessed with a MASSIVE 15 game slate. What is wild about tonight’s slate is that there is basically nothing left to play for, outside of first round matchups. The Stars locked up the last playoff spot on Wednesday, and the Panthers locked up the President’s Trophy last night. We will have full rosters for some teams, while others rest their stars to get ready for the playoffs. Because of this, we MUST pay attention to news throughout the day. Let’s find the best NHL DFS picks for DraftKings and FanDuel. Good luck!

Goalies

Casey DeSmith – Pittsburgh Penguins: The Pens host the Blue Jackets tonight in what should be a one-sided affair. The Pens should be able to handle Columbus, and DeSmith has been playing well of late.

Andre Vasilevskiy – Tampa Bay Lightning: The Lightning head to New York to take on the Islanders, who have been scoring a little bit, but should be no match for Tampa tonight.

Jake Oettinger – Dallas Stars: The Stars host the Ducks tonight in what should be a fairly easy matchup for them. However, keep an eye on this one. With the Stars clinching a playoff spot, they may choose to rest some of their players. If they do, then Oettinger becomes a little more risky.

High Risk GPP Goalie Pick – Jeremy Swayman – Boston Bruins: The Bruins are headed to Toronto tonight to take on the Leafs, who are resting their studs. This is a nice spot for Swayman, and he should be able to still see some decent shot upside.

Lines to Build Around

These NHL DFS lines are considered top plays for the night and can be considered the focal point of your builds. They will be listed by position in the following order: Center/Winger/Winger/Correlating Defenseman (if applicable).

Pittsburgh Penguins 1 – Sidney Crosby/Jake Guentzel/Bryan Rust/Kris Letang: This line should have a field day against the Blue Jackets and J.F. Berube tonight. Berube is a pretty bad goalie, sporting a 3.61 GAA this season, and the Pens should be in a position to take full advantage.

Edmonton Oilers 1 – Connor McDavid/Evander Kane/Jesse Puljujarvi/Tyson Barrie: The Oilers host the Canucks tonight in a game they should be able to dominate. The Canucks have been playing well of late, but in their last five games, are still giving up a bunch of goals. The Oilers are red hot, and they should be able to continue that tonight.

Tampa Bay Lightning 1 – Steven Stamkos/Nikita Kucherov/Ondrej Palat/Victor Hedman: So long as this line stays together tonight, they should have a really nice night against the Islanders. The Lightning are priming for the playoffs, while the Isles are priming for the golf course. The Lightning are playing for the 3 seed, so expect these guys to get some playing time tonight.

Dallas Stars 1 – Roope Hintz/Joe Pavelski/Jason Robertson/John Klingberg: The Stars host the Ducks tonight, and this line should be in a great spot against the Ducks. The Stars are better on home ice, and this is their primary scoring line.

High Risk Lines

These are NHL DFS plays that carry significantly more risk, but could pay off at low ownership. They will be listed by position in the following order: Center/Winger/Winger/Correlating Defenseman (if applicable).

Nashville Predators 1 – Mikael Granlund/Matt Duchene/Filip Forsberg/Roman Josi: The Preds head to the desert tonight to take on the Coyotes in what is ultimately a meaningless game. Nashville should dominate this game overall, but expect goals to come from both sides of this game, thanks to poor goaltending.

Boston Bruins 2 – Erik Haula/David Pastrnak/Taylor Hall: With Pasta back in the fray for Boston, this line has become viable once again. Against the Leafs lineup that will be without its stars, this is a nice little chance to jump on them tonight.

Buffalo Sabres 1 – Tage Thompson/Jeff Skinner/Victor Olofsson/Rasmus Dahlin: This line is generally better with Tuch up there, but that doesn’t change the chances they should see tonight. Chicago looks to be rolling out Collin Delia in net tonight, which gives these guys even more upside.

St. Louis Blues 1 – Robert Thomas/Pavel Buchnevich/Vladimir Tarasenko: As usual, or so it seems over the last month or so, this line is in a good spot tonight against the Golden Knights. This line has been absolutely dominant for a while now, and there is no reason that can’t continue tonight.

Florida Panthers 1 – Sam Bennett/Sam Reinhart/Anthony Duclair/Ben Chiarot: The Panthers just continue to score, as we saw last night against the Sens. They rested a bunch of their starters and still put up 4 goals. Tonight, they get an even nicer matchup as they head north to Montreal to face the Canadiens.

It’s the final Thursday of the NHL regular season and there are nine games to look forward to. It has been a lot of fun and we will be continuing with NHL content for at least the first couple of rounds of the playoffs so be sure to stay on the lookout!

4/28 NHL Main Slate of Games – Beginning 7 p.m. ET

Buffalo Sabres (+260) at Boston Bruins (-330) – 6 Projected Goal Total

Florida Panthers (-285) at Ottawa Senators (+225)7 Projected Goal Total

Tampa Bay Lightning (-275) at Columbus Blue Jackets (+220) – 6.5 Projected Goal Total

New Jersey Devils (+265) at Carolina Hurricanes (-340) – 6.5 Projected Goal Total

Washington Capitals (-135) at New York Islanders (+115) – 6 Projected Goal Total

Nashville Predators (+190) at Colorado Avalanche (-235) – 6.5 Projected Goal Total

Calgary Flames (-110) at Minnesota Wild (-110) – 6 Projected Goal Total

Los Angeles Kings (+105) at Vancouver Canucks (-125) – 6 Projected Goal Total

San Jose Sharks (+275) at Edmonton Oilers (-350) – 6.5 Projected Goal Total

4/28 NHL Favorite Lines Per Dollar

Top Line – Edmonton One ” Connor McDavid ($8,400), Evander Kane ($5,800), Kailer Yamamoto ($2,800)

The Oilers have been absolutely on fire as of late. They are coming in this matchup against the Sharks after cruising over Pittsburgh on the road. The Oilers might have things wrapped up but are still playing hard as they look to build some momentum.

Over the last ten games, Edmonton One’s 113 SATF “which includes all shot attempts, even missed shots” is good for fifth-best among all NHL lines. However, they only have a paltry three goals to show for it. I would expect some positive regression here as the most talented grouping “excluding Draisaitl just referring to who’s made up this line” has returned.

Secondary Line – Colorado One “Nathan MacKinnon ($8,900), Mikko Rantanen ($7,200), Valeri Nichushkin ($5,500)”

Nashville has played admirably defensively all season. However, after indirectly clinching a playoff spot and also losing star goaltender Jusse Saros, that might be about to change. Colorado put up an impressive home win the other night against the red hot Blues. They are -235 favorites on the money line for this one with a 6.5 game total. Mikko Rantanen did sit the other night so you will have to double-check lineups before puck drop. However, that goes for virtually every game tonight.

4/28 NHL Honorable Mention/Value Line: Carolina Three “Jesper Fast ($2,500), Nino Neidereiter ($3,600), Jordan Staal ($3,600)”

For the final Honorable Mention/Value Line we have yet another off-the-board, giant mass entry tournament style play. As you can see from the screenshot above, this line has had strong peripheral stats for a third line recently. Really they’ve been fairly solid all season. I wouldn’t play them in a smaller single-entry tournament but they make for a great large tournament flyer. Carolina has a terrific matchup as they enter the night as -340 money line favorites against the struggling Devils in a 6.5 total game.

Top Defender

Jordan Spence – L.A. Kings- $3,000 – Sean Durzi has been bumped from the quarterback role on the Kings’ power play with Drew Doughty still out. For this price, just $500 over the dead minimum, we can’t find much more value. If looking to correlate, Spence plays on the second line but I don’t think there’s any need to go there tonight with such a large slate.

Top Goalie

Andrei Vasilevskiy – Tampa Bay Lightning – $8,100 – Tampa Bay couldn’t be hotter right now and Vas is getting ready for another playoff run. For the $8,100, priced below a number of other goalies, why wouldn’t we just take the most consistent man in the business? The Lightning are -275 money line favorites tonight and there should be at least some shot volume from Columbus.

4/28 NHL Best Bet

Colorado Avalanche 60 Minute Moneyline (-143) – 1 Unit – Bet Rivers – It seems like Mikko Rantanen might return but even if not, the Avs have enough firepower here at home. The loss of goaltender Jusse Saros for this game due to injury is a big loss for the traveling Predators. I wouldn’t be surprised to see them rest a number of other players after just clinching a playoff spot the other night. Thus, the current -143 on the Avs 60-minute money line makes sense on a Thursday night where you have a lot of huge favorites against terrible underdogs.

It’s the final Tuesday of the regular season and there is no shortage of games on the 4/26 NHL slate. As we dive in below, let’s look at the complete odds “courtesy of DraftKings Sportsbook”, a few top lines, a top defenseman, a top goalie, and our best bet for tonight!

4/26 NHL Main Slate of Games – Beginning 7 p.m. ET

Florida Panthers (-130) at Boston Bruins (+115) – 6.5 Projected Goal Total

Detroit Red Wings (+340) at Toronto Maple Leafs (-450)7 Projected Goal Total

New Jersey Devils (+110) at Ottawa Senators (-130) – 6.5 Projected Goal Total

Edmonton Oilers (+135) at Pittsburgh Penguins (-155) – 6.5 Projected Goal Total

New York Islanders (+150) at Washington Capitals (-175) – 6 Projected Goal Total

Carolina Hurricanes (+100) at New York Rangers (-120) – 5.5 Projected Goal Total

Columbus Blue Jackets (+290) at Tampa Bay Lightning (-380) – 6.5 Projected Goal Total

Arizona Coyotes (+425) at Minnesota Wild (-600) – 6.5 Projected Goal Total

Calgary Flames (-140) at Nashville Predators (+120) – 6 Projected Goal Total

Vegas Golden Knights (+100) at Dallas Stars (-120) – 5.5 Projected Goal Total

St. Louis Blues (+150) at Colorado Avalanche (-175) – 6.5 Projected Goal Total

Seattle Kraken (+185) at Vancouver Canucks (-230) – 6 Projected Goal Total

Anaheim Ducks (+120) at San Jose Sharks (-135) – 5.5 Projected Goal Total

4/26 NHL Favorite Lines Per Dollar

Top Line – Minnesota One ” Ryan Hartman ($5,900), Kirill Kaprizov ($8,000), Mats Zuccarello GTD ($5,400)

The Wild enter the night as mind-blowing -600 home favorites against the Coyotes, as they prepare for the playoffs. The top line listed above has had a phenomenal season. They have scored the second most full-line goals in the NHL, only behind Calgary One. It bears watching but Mats Zuccarello did not travel for the Wild’s game in Nashville on Sunday, although the assumption is he will play tonight. Their nine full-line goals over the last ten games are good for sixth in the NHL over that timeframe so they remain on point, even as the season nears its close. While the Minnesota second line is actually ahead of them in goals scored by one across the more recent timeframe, this line has better peripheral stats. If Zuccarello were to remain out, it would be Nick Bjugstad filling out the line again.

Secondary Line – Toronto One “Auston Matthews ($9,200), Mitchell Marner ($7,500), Nick Abruzzese ($2,500)”

Here we have the chalk of the night, but how could we ignore them? We have the second-highest scoring line in the NHL over the last ten games here. Not to mention their team are -450 favorites in a seven total game against a Red Wings team that has thrown in the towel. I just hate eating chalk on such a huge slate but their ownership percentage will likely be at least somewhat diluted on that basis. Michael Bunting is injured now and will miss time but perhaps that will only strengthen this line further, given that he is its least productive member. Nick Abruzzese will be filling in for the dead minimum price giving us some quality savings to offset the total cost of this line.

4/26 NHL Honorable Mention: Tampa Bay One “Steven Stamkos ($6,900), Nikita Kucherov ($7,300), Ondrej Palat ($2,900)”

Tampa Bay might not have any lines in the NHL’s top twenty lines but this time of the year that doesn’t matter much. The Lightning, more than most teams, usually find a way to get ready quickly heading towards the playoffs. If their display against the Panthers and Maple Leafs over their last two games means anything, they are ready now. Let’s just roll with the affordably priced top line to put on a show as -370 favorites against the defensively challenged Blue Jackets.

Top Defender

Mark Giordano – Toronto – $4,100 – There are other appealing options for a bit more, but let’s roll the dice with Giordano one more time. The price tag allows us to spend elsewhere and the matchup itself is spectacular.

Top Goalie

Marc-Andre Fleury – Minnesota Wild – $8,500 – Flower isn’t what he used to be but facing the Coyotes with the Wild -600 favorites both a shutout and win are in play here.

4/26 NHL Best Bet

Seattle Kraken +1.5 (-125) – 1 Unit – DraftKings – Projected starter in net for the Canucks, Thatcher Demko has been awful over his last three games. Vancouver is now virtually eliminated from playoff contention which might take away some of the bite from their home edge and stellar home record to date. The Kraken has been competitive as of late and despite some horrors early on this season in Vancouver, I think they keep at least things close.

With the regular season slowly coming to a close we have an action-packed eight-game 4/23 NHL Saturday slate.

4/23 NHL Main Slate of Games – Beginning 7 p.m. ET

Chicago Blackhawks (+130) at San Jose Sharks (-150) – 6.5 Projected Goal Total

Toronto Maple Leafs (+135) at Florida Panthers (-155) – 7 Projected Goal Total

Montreal Canadiens (+140) at Ottawa Senators (-160) – 6 Projected Goal Total

Nashville Predators (+145) at Tampa Bay Lightning (-165) – 6 Projected Goal Total

Seattle Kraken (+220) at Dallas Stars (-275) – 6 Projected Goal Total

St. Louis Blues (-370) at Arizona Coyotes (+290) – 6.5 Projected Goal Total

Vancouver Canucks (+195) at Calgary Flames (-245) – 6.5 Projected Goal Total

Anaheim Ducks (+205) at Los Angeles Kings (-260) – 6 Projected Goal Total

4/23 NHL Favorite Lines Per Dollar

Top Line – St. Louis One “Vladimir Tarasenko ($7,600), Robert Thomas ($6,100), Pavel Buchnevich ($6,400)”

One of the Thursday slate regulars it seems for quite a while, the Blue’s top line makes its way over to a Saturday article. They are blessed tonight as easily slate high -370 money line favorites against the putrid Coyotes. They weren’t phenomenal the other night but came through enough with two full-line goals. They remain relatively affordable despite a price increase as of late. I am sort of surprised this game is a 6.5 total but we can assume which side where most of that total will come from.

Over the last ten games, St. Louis One leads all lines in the NHL in terms of full-line goals scored.

Secondary Line – Calgary One “Elias Lindholm ($6,800), Johnny Gaudreau ($7,200), Matthew Tkachuk ($6,600)”

The Flames are sizable -245 money line favorites tonight on a slate where you have a lot of good teams but not a ton of great lines. Calgary One in some form is never too far from leaderboards and despite messing around this week, the primary trio has been reunited. Strangely enough, I think they go under the radar here with so many high total games going on early on at lock.

4/23 NHL Honorable Mention/Value Line: Dallas One “Jason Robertson ($6,200), Roope Hintz ($6,700), Joe Pavelski ($5,800)”

This line could have easily been the secondary line instead as they arguably have a better matchup than Calgary One. However, Dallas has not really been blowing people out and this line has been steady lately but not tournament winning terrific. Perhaps tonight is finally the night they blow up. Their peripheral stats are up there with the lines listed above “in fact stronger than St. Louis One’s”.

Top Defender

Sean Durzi – Los Angeles Kings – $4,700 – With Drew Doughty out, Sean Durzi gets a slight bump in ice time but primarily a promotion to the top power-play unit. He has been rewarding DFS owners with double-digits DraftKings points in four of his last six games. Tonight, the Kings host the Ducks as -260 money line favorites, so a good spot for Durzi to continue his recent success.

Top Goalie

Ville Husso – St. Louis – $8,500 – Husso last started Tuesday with Jordan Binnington going Thursday. With the Blues on a back-to-back, the expectation is he will draw the start here. For a few hundred DFS dollars why not pay up for Husso who has been stellar with a 2.46 GAA and .923 save percentage, with his team as -370 money line favorites against a low-scoring team? I hate paying up for goalie but tonight, I think it makes sense.

4/23 NHL Best Bet

L.A. Kings 60 Minute ML (-155) DraftKings– A huge game for L.A. against a cross-town rival, let’s take the 60 minute ML here. They beat them in Anaheim earlier this week and will look to repeat.

The penultimate Friday Night Forecheck of the NHL regular season breaks down a small, four game slate. Within those four games, there are four top-end offenses and a marquee matchup, making for an interesting slate. Let’s find the best NHL DFS picks for DraftKings and FanDuel. Good luck!

Goalies

Ilya Samsonov – Washington Capitals: The Capitals are on a Western road swing, and the have a visit tonight to Arizona. Samsonov should have a very good shot at a win, and this is considered the safest play on the goalie board tonight.

Marc-Andre Fleury – Minnesota Wild: The Wild host the Kraken tonight in a game they should be able to win, and fairly easily. MAF should get the start, and is in a very good spot. The Kraken have been scoring, but not on the road, so this becomes a spot that we can definitely use.

High Risk GPP Goalie Pick – Mike Smith – Edmonton Oilers: The Oilers/Avalanche game should be the marquee matchup tonight, and the Oilers may have a slight advantage because the Avs are slightly depleted at the moment. With both Rantanen and Landeskog out of the lineup, the lean is that the Oilers should get the win. Smith has been playing well, and he should see a ton of shots tonight. Hopefully, this is not the night where he regresses, as the upside potential is very nice here. You can also consider Elvis Merzlikins (CBJ) in this spot if you prefer. He is not quite as risky, but the play makes sense. He just has been shaky all year, so it becomes a tough sell.

Lines to Build Around

These NHL DFS lines are considered top plays for the night and can be considered the focal point of your builds. They will be listed by position in the following order: Center/Winger/Winger/Correlating Defenseman (if applicable).

Washington Capitals 1 – Evgeny Kuznetsov/Alex Ovechkin/Tom Wilson/John Carlson: The Caps should dominate tonight, and they should do so with this line. They are in a great spot against the lowly Coyotes tonight. Expect them to be heavily owned, and rightly so.

Edmonton Oilers 1 – Connor McDavid/Evander Kane/Jesse Puljujarvi/Tyson Barrie: There are a couple of ways you can approach the Oilers tonight. First, you can just run this line out as is. They do have the more favorable matchup tonight against the Avs. The risk with that approach is that you may get absolutely nothing from Puljujarvi and/or Kane, and it’s tough to determine who will help on this line. Secondly, you can just pair McDavid and Draisaitl together, but that hamstrings your lineup salary wise. Either way you choose is good though, because Edmonton is in a great spot in what should be a fairly wide open game.

High Risk Lines

These are NHL DFS plays that carry significantly more risk, but could pay off at low ownership. They will be listed by position in the following order: Center/Winger/Winger/Correlating Defenseman (if applicable).

Colorado Avalanche 2 – Nazem Kadri/Andre Burakovsky/J.T. Compher: On the other side of the Edmonton game, we have the Avs, and we know what they are capable of. However, with Rantanen out, the top line takes a hit, so the second line looks like a slightly better play. You can run a similar approach with Avs, like mentioned above, but pairing MacKinnon and Kadri. The correlation is enough on the power play, and the primary offense should run through them.

Minnesota Wild 2 – Frederick Gaudreau/Matt Boldy/Kevin Fiala: If we are looking to play Colorado, Washington, AND Edmonton in some way, we will absolutely NEED some value. Enter Minnesota’s second line. This line should see a lot of the third line for Seattle, and are up against Grubauer in net. They should have plenty of chances to light the lamp tonight, and should give us a good bit of leverage on the field.

Columbus Blue Jackets 1 – Jack Roslovic/Gustav Nyquist/Jakub Voracek/Jake Bean: As much as it might seem like we need to fade this game, it looks like this could be another leverage spot. The field should be focused on the big names tonight, and this line has a real chance at multiple points in this game. The Senators are rolling out Gustavsson in net tonight, and he has some rough looking numbers. On top of that, Ottawa has been giving up 3 goals per game over their last five. There is some risk in this play, but there is also a good bit of upside.
